Abstract: Abstract Kaon physics is at a turning point – while the rare-kaon experiments NA62 and KOTO are in full swing, the end of their lifetime is approaching and the future experimental landscape needs to be defined. With HIKE, KOTO-II and LHCb-Phase-II on the table and under scrutiny, it is a very good moment in time to take stock and contemplate about the opportunities these experiments and theoretical developments provide for particle physics in the coming decade and beyond. This paper provides a compact summary of talks and discussions from the Kaons@CERN 2023 workshop, held in September 2023 at CERN.

2. Hunting for $$B^+\rightarrow K^+ \tau ^+\tau ^-$$ B + → K + τ + τ - imprints on the $$B^+ \rightarrow K^+ \mu ^+\mu ^-$$ B + → K + μ + μ - dimuon spectrum

Abstract: Abstract We investigate the possibility of indirectly constraining the $$B^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}\tau ^+\tau ^-$$ B + → K + τ + τ - decay rate using precise data on the $$B^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}\mu ^+\mu ^-$$ B + → K + μ + μ - dimuon spectrum. To this end, we estimate the distortion of the spectrum induced by the $$B^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}\tau ^+\tau ^-\rightarrow K^{+} \mu ^+\mu ^-$$ B + → K + τ + τ - → K + μ + μ - re-scattering process, and propose a method to simultaneously constrain this (non-standard) contribution and the long-distance effects associated to hadronic intermediate states. The latter are constrained using the analytic properties of the amplitude combined with data and perturbative calculations. Finally, we estimate the sensitivity expected at the LHCb experiment with present and future datasets. We find that constraints on the branching fraction of $$O(10^{-3})$$ O ( 10 - 3 ) , competitive with current direct bounds, can be achieved with the current dataset, while bounds of $$O(10^{-4})$$ O ( 10 - 4 ) could be obtained with the LHCb upgrade-II luminosity.

3. Likelihood analysis of the minimal AMSB model

Abstract: Abstract We perform a likelihood analysis of the minimal anomaly-mediated supersymmetry-breaking (mAMSB) model using constraints from cosmology and accelerator experiments. We find that either a wino-like or a Higgsino-like neutralino LSP, $$\tilde{\chi }^0_{1}$$ χ ~ 1 0 , may provide the cold dark matter (DM), both with similar likelihoods. The upper limit on the DM density from Planck and other experiments enforces $$m_{\tilde{\chi }^0_{1}} \lesssim 3 \,\, \mathrm {TeV}$$ m χ ~ 1 0 ≲ 3 TeV after the inclusion of Sommerfeld enhancement in its annihilations. If most of the cold DM density is provided by the $$\tilde{\chi }^0_{1}$$ χ ~ 1 0 , the measured value of the Higgs mass favours a limited range of $$\tan \beta \sim 5$$ tan β ∼ 5 (and also for $$\tan \beta \sim 45$$ tan β ∼ 45 if $$\mu > 0$$ μ > 0 ) but the scalar mass $$m_0$$ m 0 is poorly constrained. In the wino-LSP case, $$m_{3/2}$$ m 3 / 2 is constrained to about $$900\,\, \mathrm {TeV}$$ 900 TeV and $$m_{\tilde{\chi }^0_{1}}$$ m χ ~ 1 0 to $$2.9\pm 0.1\,\, \mathrm {TeV}$$ 2.9 ± 0.1 TeV , whereas in the Higgsino-LSP case $$m_{3/2}$$ m 3 / 2 has just a lower limit $$\gtrsim 650\,\, \mathrm {TeV}$$ ≳ 650 TeV ( $$\gtrsim 480\,\, \mathrm {TeV}$$ ≳ 480 TeV ) and $$m_{\tilde{\chi }^0_{1}}$$ m χ ~ 1 0 is constrained to $$1.12 ~(1.13) \pm 0.02\,\, \mathrm {TeV}$$ 1.12 ( 1.13 ) ± 0.02 TeV in the $$\mu >0$$ μ > 0 ( $$\mu 0$$ μ > 0 .

Abstract: The European physical journal / C 77(2), 104(2017). doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-017-4639-6, We perform a likelihood analysis of the constraints from accelerator experiments and astrophysical observations on supersymmetric (SUSY) models with SU(5) boundary conditions on soft SUSY-breaking parameters at the GUT scale. The parameter space of the models studied has seven parameters: a universal gaugino mass m$_{1/2}$, distinct masses for the scalar partners of matter fermions in five- and ten-dimensional representations of SU(5), m$_5$ and m$_{10}$, and for the 5 and $\bar{5}$ Higgs representations m$_{{H}_{u}}$ and m$_{{H}_{d}}$ , a universal trilinear soft SUSY-breaking parameter A$_0$, and the ratio of Higgs vevs tanβ. In addition to previous constraints from direct sparticle searches, low-energy and flavour observables, we incorporate constraints based on preliminary results from 13 TeV LHC searches for jets + $E\!\!\!/_T$events and long-lived particles, as well as the latest PandaX-II and LUX searches for direct Dark Matter detection. In addition to previously identified mechanisms for bringing the supersymmetric relic density into the range allowed by cosmology, we identify a novel $\tilde{u}_{R}/\tilde{c}_{R} − \tilde{χ}^{0}_1$ coannihilation mechanism that appears in the supersymmetric SU(5) GUT model and discuss the role of $\tilde{\nu}_\tau$ coannihilation. 7. The rare decay $K_{\mathrm{L}} \rightarrow\pi^{0} \mu^{ + } \mu^{-}$ within the SM

Abstract: We present an updated analysis of the rare decay $K_{\mathrm{L}} \rightarrow\pi^{0} \mu^{ + } \mu^{-}$ within the standard model. In particular, we present the first complete calculation of the two-photon CP-conserving amplitude within chiral perturbation theory, at the lowest non-trivial order. Our results confirm the previous findings that the CP-conserving contribution to the decay rate cannot be neglected. By means of an explicit two-loop calculation, we show that this contribution can be estimated with sufficient accuracy compared to the CP-violating terms. We predict ${\cal B}(K_{\mathrm{L}}\rightarrow\pi^{0}\mu^{ + } \mu^{-})_{\mathrm{SM}} = (1.5\pm0.3)\times10^{-11}$, with approximately equal contributions from the CP-conserving component, the indirect-CP-violating term, and the interesting direct-CP-violating amplitude. The error of this prediction is mainly of parametric nature and could be substantially reduced with better data on the $K_{\mathrm{S}}\rightarrow\pi^{0}\ell^{ + }\ell^{-}$ modes. The standard model predictions for various differential distributions and the sensitivity to possible new-physics effects are also briefly discussed.

Abstract: We consider the rare decay $\eta\to\pi^0\pi^0\gamma\gamma$ and calculate the non-resonant contribution to the amplitude to one loop in Chiral Perturbation Theory. We display our result as both a diphoton energy spectrum and a partial decay rate as a function of the photon energy cut. It turns out that the one-loop correction can be numerically very important and could be detected, at sufficiently large center-of-mass photon energies, from a measurement of the partial decay width.

Abstract: Global frequentist fits to the CMSSM and NUHM1 using the MasterCode framework predicted M h ≃119 GeV in fits incorporating the (g−2) μ constraint and ≃126 GeV without it. Recent results by ATLAS and CMS could be compatible with a Standard Model-like Higgs boson around M h ≃125 GeV. We use the previous MasterCode analysis to calculate the likelihood for a measurement of any nominal Higgs mass within the range of 115 to 130 GeV. Assuming a Higgs mass measurement at M h ≃125 GeV, we display updated global likelihood contours in the (m 0,m 1/2) and other parameter planes of the CMSSM and NUHM1, and present updated likelihood functions for mg~,mq~R, BR(B s →μ + μ −) and the spin-independent dark matter cross section σSIp. The implications of dropping (g−2) μ from the fits are also discussed. We incorporate these results into a frequentist analysis of the probable ranges of parameters of simple versions of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), namely the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), a model with common non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1), the very constrained MSSM (VCMSSM) and minimal supergravity (mSUGRA). We present updated predictions for the gluino mass, m[(g)\tilde]mg, the light-Higgs boson mass, M h , BR(B s →μ + μ −) and the spin-independent dark matter scattering cross section, sSIppSI. The CMS and ATLAS data make inroads into the CMSSM, NUHM1 and VCMSSM (but not mSUGRA) parameter spaces, thereby strengthening previous lower limits on sparticle masses and upper limits on sSIppSI in the CMSSM and VCMSSM. The favoured ranges of BR(B s →μ + μ −) in the CMSSM, VCMSSM and mSUGRA are close to the Standard Model, but considerably larger values of BR(B s →μ + μ −) are possible in the NUHM1. Abstract: We update previous frequentist analyses of the CMSSM and NUHM1 parameter spaces to include the public results of searches for supersymmetric signals using ∼1/fb of LHC data recorded by ATLAS and CMS and ∼0.3/fb of data recorded by LHCb in addition to electroweak precision and B-physics observables. We also include the constraints imposed by the cosmological dark matter density and the XENON100 search for spin-independent dark matter scattering. The LHC data set includes ATLAS and CMS searches for jets + Open image in new window events and for the heavier MSSM Higgs bosons, and the upper limits on BR(B s →μ + μ −) from LHCb and CMS. The absences of jets + Open image in new window signals in the LHC data favour heavier mass spectra than in our previous analyses of the CMSSM and NUHM1, which may be reconciled with (g−2) μ if tanβ∼40, a possibility that is, however, under pressure from heavy Higgs searches and the upper limits on BR(B s →μ + μ −). As a result, the p-value for the CMSSM fit is reduced to ∼15(38)%, and that for the NUHM1 to ∼16(38)%, to be compared with ∼9(49)% for the Standard Model limit of the CMSSM for the same set of observables (dropping (g−2) μ ), ignoring the dark matter relic density. We discuss the sensitivities of the fits to the (g−2) μ and BR(b→sγ) constraints, contrasting fits with and without the (g−2) μ constraint, and combining the theoretical and experimental errors for BR(b→sγ) linearly or in quadrature. We present predictions for mg~, BR(B s →μ + μ −), M h and M A , and update predictions for spin-independent dark matter scattering, incorporating the uncertainty in the π-nucleon σ term Σ πN . Abstract: We make frequentist analyses of the CMSSM, NUHM1, VCMSSM and mSUGRA parameter spaces taking into account all the public results of searches for supersymmetry using data from the 2010 LHC run and the XENON100 direct search for dark matter scattering. The LHC data set includes ATLAS and CMS searches for jets + \notET\mathrm{jets} + {\not}E_{T} events (with or without leptons) and for the heavier MSSM Higgs bosons, and the upper limit on BR(B s →μ + μ −) including data from LHCb as well as CDF and DØ. The absence of signals in the LHC data favours somewhat heavier mass spectra than in our previous analyses of the CMSSM, NUHM1 and VCMSSM, and somewhat smaller dark matter scattering cross sections, all close to or within the pre-LHC 68% CL ranges, but does not impact significantly the favoured regions of the mSUGRA parameter space. We also discuss the impact of the XENON100 constraint on spin-independent dark matter scattering, stressing the importance of taking into account the uncertainty in the π-nucleon σ term Σ πN , which affects the spin-independent scattering matrix element, and we make predictions for spin-dependent dark matter scattering. Abstract: This document reviews the physics program of the KLOE-2 detector at DAFNE upgraded in energy and provides a simple solution to run the collider above the Φ-peak (up to 2, possibly 2.5 GeV). It is shown how a precise measurement of the multihadronic cross section in the energy region up to 2 (possibly 2.5) GeV will have a major impact on the tests of the Standard Model through a precise determination of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and the effective fine-structure constant at the MZ scale. With a luminosity of about 10^32 cm^-2 s^-1, DAFNE upgraded in energy can perform a scan in the region from 1 to 2.5 GeV in one year by collecting an integrated luminosity of 20 pb^-1 (corresponding to a few days of data taking) for single point, assuming an energy step of 25 MeV. A few years of data taking in this region would provide important tests of QCD and effective theories by γγ physics with open thresholds for pseudo-scalar (like the η'), scalar (f_0, f_0' , etc...) and axial-vector (a1, etc...) mesons; vector-mesons spectroscopy and baryon form factors, tests of CVC, and searches for exotics. In the final part of the document a technical solution for the energy upgrade of DAFNE is proposed.

Abstract: Discoveries at the LHC will soon set the physics agenda for future colliders. This report of a CERN Theory Institute includes the summaries of Working Groups that reviewed the physics goals and prospects of LHC running with 10 to 300 fb−1 of integrated luminosity, of the proposed sLHC luminosity upgrade, of the ILC, of CLIC, of the LHeC and of a muon collider. The four Working Groups considered possible scenarios for the first 10 fb−1 of data at the LHC in which (i) a state with properties that are compatible with a Higgs boson is discovered, (ii) no such state is discovered either because the Higgs properties are such that it is difficult to detect or because no Higgs boson exists, (iii) a missing-energy signal beyond the Standard Model is discovered as in some supersymmetric models, and (iv) some other exotic signature of new physics is discovered. In the contexts of these scenarios, the Working Groups reviewed the capabilities of the future colliders to study in more detail whatever new physics may be discovered by the LHC. Caratteristiche qualificanti sono: comunicazione diretta tra chi produce e chi fruisce della scienza; dichiarata contaminabilità; agli idiomi comunicativi del mondo giovanile; dinamicità; dei contenuti che qualificano il sito, più che come opportunità; occasionale di visita, come periodico evento-appuntamento in rete. 22. Electromagnetism in Nonleptonic Weak Interactions

Abstract: We construct a low-energy effective field theory that permits the complete treatment of isospin-breaking effects in nonleptonic weak interactions to next-to leading- order. To this end we enlarge the chiral Lagrangian describing strong and ΔS=1 weak interactions by including electromagnetic terms with the photon as additional dynamical degree of freedom. The complete and minimal list of local terms at next-to-leading order is given., We perform the one-loop renormazation at the level of the generating functional and specialize to K→ππ decays.

23. Direct CP violation in K->3π decays induced by SUSY chromomagnetic penguins

Abstract: An analysis of the CP violating asymmetry in K^±(3π)± decays in the Standard Model and, by means of the mass insertion approximation, in a wide class of possible supersymmetric extensions, is presented. We find that the natural order of magnitude for this asymmetry is O(10^{-5})$ in both cases. Within supersymmetric models effects as large as O(10^{-4}) are possible, but only in a restricted range of the relevant parameters.

24. The CP-Conserving Contribution to the Transverse muon Polarization in K^+→μ^+ υγ

Abstract: We present a detailed estimate of the transverse muon polarization (P_T) due to electromagnetic final-state interactions in the decay K^+→μ^+ υγ. This CP-conserving effect represents the dominant contribution to P_T within the Standard Model. As a result of an explicit calculation, we find that the CP-conserving contribution to P_T is quite small, typically of O(10^{-4}), essentially due to the suppression factor α/4π^2. This enforces the sensitivity of P_T in probing extensions of the Standard Model with new sources of time-reversal violations. A brief discussion about possible CP-violating contributions to P_Tin the framework of supersymmetric models with unbroken R-parity is also presented.

25. Supersymmetric contributions to direct CP violation in K→ ππγ decays

Abstract: We analyze the supersymmetric contributions to direct-CP-violating observables in K→ ππγ decays induced by gluino--mediated magnetic--penguin operators. We find that ϵ_(+-γ)^'/ε and the differential width asymmetry of K^± →π^± π^0 γ decays could be substantially enhanced with respect to their Standard Model values, especially in the scenario where ϵ^'/ε is dominated by supersymmetric contributions. These observables could therefore provide a useful tool to search for New Physics effects in |ΔS|=1 transitions, complementary to ϵ^'/ε and rare decays.

27. The CP Conserving Contribution to K_L→π^0 ν ν ̅ in the Standard Model

Abstract: The are decay K_L→π^0 νν ̅ nn is dominated by direct CP violation and can be computed with extraordinarily high precision. In principle also a CP conserving contribution to this process can arise within the Standard Model. We clarify the structure of the CP conserving mechanism, analyzing both its short-distance and long-distance components. It is pointed out that the calculation of the CP conserving amplitude, although sensitive in part to nonperturbative physics, is rather well under control. The resulting CP conserving contribution to the K_L→π^0 νν ̅ rate turns out to be very strongly suppressed due to several factors, which we discuss in detail.

29. Corrections of Order ∧_QCD^2/m_c^2 to Inclusive Rare B Decays

Abstract: We calculate nonperturbative O(∧_QCD^2/m_c^2) corrections to the dilepton invariant mass spectrum and the forward-backwarda charge asymmetry in B->X_s e^+e^- decay using a heavy quark expansion approach. The method has recently been used to estimate long-distance effects in B->X_sγ. We generalize this analysis to the case of non-vanishing photon invariant mass, q^2≠0, relevant for the rare decay mode B->X_s e^+e^-. In the phenomenologically interesting q2 region away from the c`c resonances, the heavy quark expansion approach should provide a reasonable descrption of possible non-perturbative corrections. In particular this picture is preferable to the model-dependent approach relying on the tails of Breit-Wigner resonances, Which has been employed so far in the literature to account for these effects. We find that the O(∧_QCD^2/m_c^2) corrections to the dilepton invariant mass spectrum and to the forward-backward asymmetry in B->X_s e^+e^- amount to several percent at most for q^2/m_b^2≲0.3 and q^2/m_b^2≳0.6 respectively. The O(∧_QCD^2/m_c^2) correction to the B->X_sγ decay rate is also computed and found to be +3%, which agrees in magnitude with previous calculations. Finally, we comment on long-distance effects in B->X_svv, which in this case are extremely suppressed due to the absence of virtual photon contributions.

Abstract: We consider the rare decay η->π^0π^0γγ and calculate the non-resonant contribution to the amplitude to one loop in Chiral Perturbation Theory. We display our result as both a diphoton energy spectrum and a partial decay rate as a function of the photon energy cut. It turns out that the one-loop correction can be numerically very important and could be detected, at sufficiently large centre-of-mass photon energies, from a measurement of the partial decay width.

Abstract: We present a general discussion of radiative four-meson processes to O(p4) in chiral perturbation theory. We propose a definition of "generalized bremsstrahlung" that takes full advantage of experimental information on the corresponding non-radiative process. We also derive general formulae for one-loop amplitudes which can be applied, for instance, to η→3πγ, ππ→ππγ and K→3πγ.

Abstract: During 2011 the LHCb experiment at CERN collected 1.0 fb-1 of sqrt{s} = 7 TeV pp collisions. Due to the large heavy quark production cross-sections, these data provide unprecedented samples of heavy flavoured hadrons. The first results from LHCb have made a significant impact on the flavour physics landscape and have definitively proved the concept of a dedicated experiment in the forward region at a hadron collider. This document discusses the implications of these first measurements on classes of extensions to the Standard Model, bearing in mind the interplay with the results of searches for on-shell production of new particles at ATLAS and CMS. The physics potential of an upgrade to the LHCb detector, which would allow an order of magnitude more data to be collected, is emphasised., Comment: v2: 180 pages; many figures. Abstract: One or more heavy spin-1 fields may replace the Higgs boson in keeping perturbative unitarity up to a few TeV. By means of two prototype chiral models for the heavy spin-1 bosons, a "composite" model or a "gauge" model, we discuss if and how the sole exchange of the same fields can also account for the ElectroWeak Precision Tests. While this proves impossible in the gauge model, the composite model hints to a positive solution, which we exploit to constrain the phenomenological properties of the heavy vectors., Comment: 19 pages, 2 figures

Abstract: In these last years, there is an unprecedented world-wide consensus on the next steps to be taken in the construction of major "energy frontier" accelerator facilities. The main threads for the future of world particle physics seem clear: the first priority is the completion and commissioning of the large hadron collider (LHC), the next priority is the construction of the TeV-energy LC, with a significant period of overlap with LHC running. If the "energy frontier" for the future activities in particle physics seems to be well defined, it is becoming more and more relevant and urgent to underline the importance of other facilities for particle physics. This Report focuses the importance of a diversified experimental program in flavour physics during the LHC era. In particular this Report presents the great opportunities, offered by flavour physics, on a number of fronts within the quark flavour sector, K and charm physics, as well as within neutral and charged-lepton sector, neutrino physics and physics of lepton flavour violation. Finally it is briefly illustrated how future high intensity facilities may also offer an opportunity to perform frontier experiment in nuclear physics. Â© 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Among the most interesting phenomena of flavor physics is the violation of the CP symmetry that has been subtle and difficult to explore. Till early 1990s observations of CP violation were confined to neutral $K$ mesons, but since then a large number of CP-violating processes have been studied in detail in neutral $B$ mesons. In parallel, measurements of the couplings of the heavy quarks and the dynamics for their decays in large samples of $K, D$, and $B$ mesons have been greatly improved in accuracy and the results are being used as probes in the search for deviations from the Standard Model. In the near future, there will be a transition from the current to a new generation of experiments, thus a review of the status of quark flavor physics is timely. 39. Confronting the vector leptoquark hypothesis with new low- and high-energy data.

Abstract: In light of new data we present an updated phenomenological analysis of the simplified U 1 -leptoquark model addressing charged-current B -meson anomalies. The analysis shows a good compatibility of low-energy data (dominated by the lepton flavor universality ratios R D and R D ∗ ) with the high-energy constraints posed by p p → τ τ ¯ Drell-Yan data. We also show that present data are well compatible with a framework where the leptoquark couples with similar strength to both left- and right-handed third-generation fermions, a scenario that is well-motivated from a model building perspective. We find that the high-energy implications of this setup will be probed at the 95% confidence level in the high-luminosity phase of the LHC., (© The Author(s) 2023.)

41. Optimized lepton universality tests in B → V ℓ ν ¯ decays.

Abstract: We propose improved lepton flavor universality (LFU) ratios in semileptonic P → V ℓ ν ¯ decays, when comparing μ and τ modes, that minimize the theoretical form-factor uncertainties. These optimized ratios are obtained with simple cuts or reweighting of the dilepton mass distributions, which imply a minimum loss of signal on the rare tauonic modes while maximizing the cancellation of theoretical uncertainties among the two modes. We illustrate the usefulness of these observables in B c → J / ψ , B c → ψ ( 2 S ) , B → D ∗ and B s → D s ∗ transitions, showing that in all cases we can reach O ( 1 % ) uncertainties on the SM predictions of the improved LFU ratios employing conservative form-factor uncertainties., (© The Author(s) 2020.)

42. Exploring the flavour structure of the high-scale MSSM.

Abstract: We analyse the sensitivity of quark flavour-changing observables to the MSSM, in a regime of heavy superpartners. We analyse four distinct and motivated frameworks characterising the structure of the soft-breaking terms by means of approximate flavour symmetries. We show that a set of six low-energy observables with realistic chances of improvement in the near future, namely Δ M s , d , ϵ K , ϵ K ' / ϵ K , B ( K → π ν ν ¯ ) , and the phase of D - D ¯ mixing, could play a very important role in characterising these frameworks for superpartner masses up to O ( 100 ) TeV. 43. Hunting for B + → K + τ + τ - imprints on the B + → K + μ + μ - dimuon spectrum.

Abstract: We investigate the possibility of indirectly constraining the B + → K + τ + τ - decay rate using precise data on the B + → K + μ + μ - dimuon spectrum. To this end, we estimate the distortion of the spectrum induced by the B + → K + τ + τ - → K + μ + μ - re-scattering process, and propose a method to simultaneously constrain this (non-standard) contribution and the long-distance effects associated to hadronic intermediate states. The latter are constrained using the analytic properties of the amplitude combined with data and perturbative calculations. Finally, we estimate the sensitivity expected at the LHCb experiment with present and future datasets. We find that constraints on the branching fraction of O ( 10 - 3 ) , competitive with current direct bounds, can be achieved with the current dataset, while bounds of O ( 10 - 4 ) could be obtained with the LHCb upgrade-II luminosity., (© The Author(s) 2020.)

44. Likelihood analysis of the minimal AMSB model.

Abstract: We perform a likelihood analysis of the minimal anomaly-mediated supersymmetry-breaking (mAMSB) model using constraints from cosmology and accelerator experiments. We find that either a wino-like or a Higgsino-like neutralino LSP, [Formula: see text], may provide the cold dark matter (DM), both with similar likelihoods. The upper limit on the DM density from Planck and other experiments enforces [Formula: see text] after the inclusion of Sommerfeld enhancement in its annihilations. If most of the cold DM density is provided by the [Formula: see text], the measured value of the Higgs mass favours a limited range of [Formula: see text] (and also for [Formula: see text] if [Formula: see text]) but the scalar mass [Formula: see text] is poorly constrained. In the wino-LSP case, [Formula: see text] is constrained to about [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] to [Formula: see text], whereas in the Higgsino-LSP case [Formula: see text] has just a lower limit [Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]) and [Formula: see text] is constrained to [Formula: see text] in the [Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]) scenario. In neither case can the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, [Formula: see text], be improved significantly relative to its Standard Model (SM) value, nor do flavour measurements constrain the model significantly, and there are poor prospects for discovering supersymmetric particles at the LHC, though there are some prospects for direct DM detection. On the other hand, if the [Formula: see text] contributes only a fraction of the cold DM density, future LHC [Formula: see text]-based searches for gluinos, squarks and heavier chargino and neutralino states as well as disappearing track searches in the wino-like LSP region will be relevant, and interference effects enable [Formula: see text] to agree with the data better than in the SM in the case of wino-like DM with [Formula: see text].

45. Likelihood analysis of supersymmetric SU(5) GUTs.

Abstract: We perform a likelihood analysis of the constraints from accelerator experiments and astrophysical observations on supersymmetric (SUSY) models with SU(5) boundary conditions on soft SUSY-breaking parameters at the GUT scale. The parameter space of the models studied has seven parameters: a universal gaugino mass [Formula: see text], distinct masses for the scalar partners of matter fermions in five- and ten-dimensional representations of SU(5), [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], and for the [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] Higgs representations [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], a universal trilinear soft SUSY-breaking parameter [Formula: see text], and the ratio of Higgs vevs [Formula: see text]. In addition to previous constraints from direct sparticle searches, low-energy and flavour observables, we incorporate constraints based on preliminary results from 13 TeV LHC searches for jets + [Formula: see text] events and long-lived particles, as well as the latest PandaX-II and LUX searches for direct Dark Matter detection. In addition to previously identified mechanisms for bringing the supersymmetric relic density into the range allowed by cosmology, we identify a novel [Formula: see text] coannihilation mechanism that appears in the supersymmetric SU(5) GUT model and discuss the role of [Formula: see text] coannihilation. We find complementarity between the prospects for direct Dark Matter detection and SUSY searches at the LHC.

46. Probing the Charm Quark Yukawa Coupling in Higgs+Charm Production.

Abstract: We propose a new method for determining the coupling of the Higgs boson to charm quarks, via Higgs production in association with a charm-tagged jet: pp→hc. As a first estimate, we find that at the LHC with 3000 fb^{-1}, it should be possible to derive a constraint of order one, relative to the standard model (SM) value of the charm Yukawa coupling. As a by-product of this analysis, we present an estimate of the exclusive pp→hD^{(*)} electroweak cross section. Within the SM, the latter turns out to be not accessible at the LHC even in the high-luminosity phase.

47. Supersymmetric dark matter after LHC run 1.

Abstract: Different mechanisms operate in various regions of the MSSM parameter space to bring the relic density of the lightest neutralino, [Formula: see text], assumed here to be the lightest SUSY particle (LSP) and thus the dark matter (DM) particle, into the range allowed by astrophysics and cosmology. These mechanisms include coannihilation with some nearly degenerate next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle such as the lighter stau [Formula: see text], stop [Formula: see text] or chargino [Formula: see text], resonant annihilation via direct-channel heavy Higgs bosons H / A , the light Higgs boson h or the Z boson, and enhanced annihilation via a larger Higgsino component of the LSP in the focus-point region. These mechanisms typically select lower-dimensional subspaces in MSSM scenarios such as the CMSSM, NUHM1, NUHM2, and pMSSM10. We analyze how future LHC and direct DM searches can complement each other in the exploration of the different DM mechanisms within these scenarios. We find that the [Formula: see text] coannihilation regions of the CMSSM, NUHM1, NUHM2 can largely be explored at the LHC via searches for [Formula: see text] events and long-lived charged particles, whereas their H / A funnel, focus-point and [Formula: see text] coannihilation regions can largely be explored by the LZ and Darwin DM direct detection experiments. We find that the dominant DM mechanism in our pMSSM10 analysis is [Formula: see text] coannihilation: parts of its parameter space can be explored by the LHC, and a larger portion by future direct DM searches.

Abstract: We present a frequentist analysis of the parameter space of the pMSSM10, in which the following ten soft SUSY-breaking parameters are specified independently at the mean scalar top mass scale [Formula: see text]: the gaugino masses [Formula: see text], the first-and second-generation squark masses [Formula: see text], the third-generation squark mass [Formula: see text], a common slepton mass [Formula: see text] and a common trilinear mixing parameter A , as well as the Higgs mixing parameter [Formula: see text], the pseudoscalar Higgs mass [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], the ratio of the two Higgs vacuum expectation values. We use the MultiNest sampling algorithm with [Formula: see text]1.2 [Formula: see text] points to sample the pMSSM10 parameter space. A dedicated study shows that the sensitivities to strongly interacting sparticle masses of ATLAS and CMS searches for jets, leptons [Formula: see text][Formula: see text] signals depend only weakly on many of the other pMSSM10 parameters. With the aid of the Atom and Scorpion codes, we also implement the LHC searches for electroweakly interacting sparticles and light stops, so as to confront the pMSSM10 parameter space with all relevant SUSY searches. In addition, our analysis includes Higgs mass and rate measurements using the HiggsSignals code, SUSY Higgs exclusion bounds, the measurements of [Formula: see text] by LHCb and CMS, other B -physics observables, electroweak precision observables, the cold dark matter density and the XENON100 and LUX searches for spin-independent dark matter scattering, assuming that the cold dark matter is mainly provided by the lightest neutralino [Formula: see text]. We show that the pMSSM10 is able to provide a supersymmetric interpretation of [Formula: see text], unlike the CMSSM, NUHM1 and NUHM2. As a result, we find (omitting Higgs rates) that the minimum [Formula: see text] with 18 degrees of freedom (d.o.f.) in the pMSSM10, corresponding to a [Formula: see text] probability of 30.8 %, to be compared with [Formula: see text] in the CMSSM (NUHM1) (NUHM2). We display the one-dimensional likelihood functions for sparticle masses, and we show that they may be significantly lighter in the pMSSM10 than in the other models, e.g., the gluino may be as light as [Formula: see text]1250 [Formula: see text] at the 68 % CL, and squarks, stops, electroweak gauginos and sleptons may be much lighter than in the CMSSM, NUHM1 and NUHM2. We discuss the discovery potential of future LHC runs, [Formula: see text] colliders and direct detection experiments.

49. The CMSSM and NUHM1 after LHC Run 1.

Abstract: We analyze the impact of data from the full Run 1 of the LHC at 7 and 8 TeV on the CMSSM with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] and the NUHM1 with [Formula: see text], incorporating the constraints imposed by other experiments such as precision electroweak measurements, flavour measurements, the cosmological density of cold dark matter and the direct search for the scattering of dark matter particles in the LUX experiment. We use the following results from the LHC experiments: ATLAS searches for events with [Formula: see text] accompanied by jets with the full 7 and 8 TeV data, the ATLAS and CMS measurements of the mass of the Higgs boson, the CMS searches for heavy neutral Higgs bosons and a combination of the LHCb and CMS measurements of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. Our results are based on samplings of the parameter spaces of the CMSSM for both [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] and of the NUHM1 for [Formula: see text] with 6.8[Formula: see text], 6.2[Formula: see text] and 1.6[Formula: see text] points, respectively, obtained using the MultiNest tool. The impact of the Higgs-mass constraint is assessed using FeynHiggs 2.10.0, which provides an improved prediction for the masses of the MSSM Higgs bosons in the region of heavy squark masses. It yields in general larger values of [Formula: see text] than previous versions of FeynHiggs, reducing the pressure on the CMSSM and NUHM1. We find that the global [Formula: see text] functions for the supersymmetric models vary slowly over most of the parameter spaces allowed by the Higgs-mass and the [Formula: see text] searches, with best-fit values that are comparable to the [Formula: see text] for the best Standard Model fit. We provide 95 % CL lower limits on the masses of various sparticles and assess the prospects for observing them during Run 2 of the LHC.

Abstract: In top-pair events where at least one of the tops decays semileptonically, the identification of the lepton charge allows us to tag not only the top quark charge but also that of the subsequent b quark. In cases where the b also decays semileptonically, the charge of the two leptons can be used to probe CP violation in heavy flavor mixing and decays. This strategy to measure CP violation is independent of those adopted so far in experiments, and can already constrain non standard model sources of CP violation with current and near future LHC data. To demonstrate the potential of this method we construct two CP asymmetries based on same-sign and opposite-sign leptons and estimate their sensitivities. This proposal opens a new window for doing precision measurements of CP violation in b and c quark physics via high p(T) processes at ATLAS and CMS.
