We developed PyQUDA, a Python wrapper for QUDA written in Cython, designed to facilitate lattice QCD calculations using the Python programming language. PyQUDA leverages the optimized linear algebra capabilities of NumPy/CuPy/PyTorch, along with the highly optimized lattice QCD operations provided by QUDA to accelerate research. This integration simplifies the process of writing calculation codes, enabling researchers to build more complex Python packages like EasyDistillation for specific physics objectives. PyQUDA supports a range of lattice QCD operations, including hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) with N-flavor clover/HISQ fermions and inversion for the Wilson/clover/HISQ fermion action with the multigrid solver. It also includes utility functions for reading lattice QCD data stored in Chroma, MILC, and $\chi$QCD formats. Mobility edges (MEs), which separate the extended phases from the localized phases, are one of the most crucial concepts in Anderson localization. In one-dimensional quasiperiodic systems, only a few models with exact MEs can be constructed using the generalized self-dual theory, the Avila's global theory, or the renormalization groups method. Then, an intriguing question is that can we realize much more physical models with exact solvable MEs? Here we uncover the hidden self-duality in a class of quasiperiodic network models constituted by periodic sites and quasiperiodic sites. While the original models do not have self-duality, after integrating out the periodic sites, the effective Hamiltonian with energy dependent potentials will have this duality, yielding MEs. The mosaic models studied in the literature are the simplest quasiperiodic netowork models. For a long time the MEs in these models are believed to come from the absent of self-duality, and we show that they actually come from the hidden self-duality. Finally, we extend this idea to more network models and explicitly determine their exact MEs with the hidden duality. The predictions in these models can be realized using optical and acoustic waveguide arrays and electric circuits in experiments. Nowadays the vibrational Stark effect (VSE) of adsorbates at the electrochemical interfaces is generally investigated using the Lambert theory, in which the strong electric field across the interfaces can be treated as some kind of perturbation. Lambert found that the VSE arises mainly from the classical effect, and the quantum effect is negligible. This idea is accepted by almost all current first-principle calculations for this issue. Here we revisit this problem by addressing the fundamental question that to what extent the quantum effect is important for VSE, and if it is observable, then which physical quantity determines this effect. We use the Morse, Lennard-Jones and Dunham potentials as basic potentials to explore this problem using quantum perturbation theory. We define the relative difference between quantum and classical VSE slopes to define the quantum effect, $\eta$, and show that for CO, $\eta \sim $ 2 - 3\%, while for adsorbed hydrogen on Pt electrode, $\eta \sim$ 8 - 10\%, using the experimental data. We find that $\eta$ is determined by the anharmonic coefficient $\chi_e$. Without results we present a new understanding of the VSE as a function of electric field and potential in electrochemical experiments, showing that the nonlinear slope of VSE as a function of potential should arise from the nonlinear relation between electric field and potential across the interfaces, which may resolve the long-standing controversial in experiments., Comment: 12 pages and 5 figures

Under certain symmetries, degenerate points in three-dimensional metals form one-dimensional nodal lines. These nodal lines sometimes feature knotted structures and have been studied across diverse backgrounds. As one of the most common physical perturbations, disorder effects often trigger novel quantum phase transitions. For nodal-knot phases, whether disorder can drive knot transitions remains an unclear and intriguing problem. Employing renormalization-group calculations, we demonstrate that nodal-knot transitions emerges in the presence of weak disorder. Specifically, both chemical-potential-type and magnetic-type disorders can induce knot transitions, resulting in the emergence of distinct knot topologies. The transition can be quantitatively reflected in the change of topological invariants such as the knot Wilson loop integrals. With the advancement of generative models, the synthesis of different sensory elements such as music, visuals, and speech has achieved significant realism. However, the approach to generate multi-sensory outputs has not been fully explored, limiting the application on high-value scenarios such as of directing a film. Developing a movie director agent faces two major challenges: (1) Lack of parallelism and online scheduling with production steps: In the production of multi-sensory films, there are complex dependencies between different sensory elements, and the production time for each element varies. (2) Diverse needs and clear communication demands with users: Users often cannot clearly express their needs until they see a draft, which requires human-computer interaction and iteration to continually adjust and optimize the film content based on user feedback. To address these issues, we introduce AutoDirector, an interactive multi-sensory composition framework that supports long shots, special effects, music scoring, dubbing, and lip-syncing. This framework improves the efficiency of multi-sensory film production through automatic scheduling and supports the modification and improvement of interactive tasks to meet user needs. AutoDirector not only expands the application scope of human-machine collaboration but also demonstrates the potential of AI in collaborating with humans in the role of a film director to complete multi-sensory films.

High-harmonic generation (HHG), an extreme nonlinear effect, introduces an unprecedented paradigm to detect emergent quantum phases and electron dynamics inconceivable in the framework of linear and low-order nonlinear processes. As an important manifestation, the optical HHG (o-HHG) enables extraordinary opportunities to underpin attosecond physics. In addition to nonlinear optics, emerging nonlinear electric transport has been demonstrated recently and opens new paradigms to probe quantum phase transition, symmetry breaking, band geometrical and topological properties. Thus far, only electrical second-/third-harmonic generation in perturbative regime has been elucidated, while the electrical HHG (e-HHG) that can advance to extreme non-perturbative physics remains elusive. Here we report the observation of e-HHG up to 300th-order. Remarkably, the e-HHG shows a clear non-perturbative character and exhibits periodic oscillations with the reciprocal of driving current. Further, theoretical simulations corroborate the experiments, suggesting the contribution of singular distribution of Berry curvature near band edges. Our results demonstrate e-HHG in extreme nonlinear regime and may shed light on a plethora of exotic physics and applications, such as extreme non-equilibrium quantum phenomena, ultra-fast and coherent electrical signal generations and detections., Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures

The adiabatic edge state pumping (ESP) in one dimensional model, which has important applications in topological phase transition and quantum simulation, has been widely performed in both theories and experiments. This phenomenon has been observed in some systems with sizes $L = 9 - 100$, and it seems that due to the topological protection, the ESP can be survived even in the presence of weak random potential. Yet the fundamental issues of adiabaticity for this process have not been clarified. In this paper, we revisit this problem and show that this process involves two non-adiabatic points during the transition between the edge state and bulk state, yielding non-abadiatic physics. As a result, the ESP can be described by the Landau-Zener-St\"{u}ckelberg (LZS) interference process, in which the relative phase between the edge state and the bulk state determine the fate of the edge state during pumping. Furthermore, in a relatively long chain with weak disorder, the ESP can break down due to the anti-crossing of the edge state and the bulk edge states. We unveil these physics in terms of non-adiabaticity. The new mechanisms for ESP unveiled in this work is readily accessible in experiment, and shall therefore offer a down-to-earth platform for the intriguing LZS dynamics in terms of edge states., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Frequency tunable qubit plays a significant role for scalable superconducting quantum processors. The state-of-the-art room-temperature electronics for tuning qubit frequency suffers from unscalable limit, such as heating problem, linear growth of control cables, etc. Here we propose a scalable scheme to tune the qubit frequency by using in situ superconducting circuit, which is based on radio frequency superconducting quantum interference device (rf-SQUID). We demonstrate both theoretically and experimentally that the qubit frequency could be modulated by inputting several single pulses into rf-SQUID. Compared with the traditional scheme, our scheme not only solves the heating problem, but also provides the potential to exponentially reduce the number of cables inside the dilute refrigerator and the room-temperature electronics resource for tuning qubit frequency, which is achieved by a time-division-multiplex (TDM) scheme combining rf-SQUID with switch arrays. With such TDM scheme, the number of cables could be reduced from the usual $\sim 3n$ to $\sim \log_2{(3n)} + 1$ for two-dimensional quantum processors comprising $n$ qubits and $\sim 2n$ couplers. Decay constants of pseudoscalar mesons $D$, $D_s$, $\eta_c$ and vector mesons $D^*$, $D_s^*$, $J/\psi$ are determined from $N_f=2+1$ lattice QCD at a lattice spacing $a\sim0.08$ fm. For vector mesons, the decay constants defined by tensor currents are given in the $\overline{\rm MS}$ scheme at $2$ GeV. The calculation is performed on domain wall fermion configurations generated by the RBC-UKQCD Collaborations and the overlap fermion action is used for the valence quarks. Comparing the current results with our previous ones at a coarser lattice spacing $a\sim0.11$ fm gives us a better understanding of the discretization error. We obtain $f_{D_s^*}^T(\overline{\rm MS},\text{2 GeV})/f_{D_s^*}=0.907(20)$ with a better precision than our previous result. Combining our $f_{D_s^*}=277(11)$ MeV with the total width of $D_s^*$ determined in a recent work gives a branching fraction $4.26(52)\times10^{-5}$ for $D_s^*$ leptonic decay., Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures, 12 tables

Critical fluctuations play a fundamental role in determining the spin orders for low-dimensional quantum materials, especially for recently discovered two-dimensional (2D) magnets. Here we employ the quantum decoherence imaging technique utilizing nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond to explore the critical magnetic fluctuations and the associated temporal spin noise in van der Waals magnet $\rm{Fe_{3}GeTe_{2}}$. We show that the critical fluctuation contributes to a random magnetic field characterized by the noise spectra, which can be changed dramatically near the critical temperature $T_c$. A theoretical model to describe this phenomenon is developed, showing that the spectral density is characterized by a $1/f$ noise near the $T_c$, while away from this point it behaves like a white noise. The crossover at a certain temperature between these two situations is determined by changing of the distance between the sample and the diamond. This work provides a new way to study critical fluctuation and to extract some of the critical exponents, which may greatly deepen our understanding of criticality in a wide range of physical systems.

In the era of large language models (LLMs), building multilingual large language models (MLLMs) that can serve users worldwide holds great significance. However, existing research seldom focuses on the truthfulness of MLLMs. Meanwhile, contemporary multilingual aligning technologies struggle to balance massive languages and often exhibit serious truthfulness gaps across different languages, especially those that differ greatly from English. In our work, we construct a benchmark for truthfulness evaluation in multilingual scenarios and explore the ways to align facts across languages to enhance the truthfulness of MLLMs. Furthermore, we propose Fact-aware Multilingual Selective Synergy (FaMSS) to optimize the data allocation across a large number of languages and different data types. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach can effectively reduce the multilingual representation disparity and enhance the multilingual capabilities of LLMs., Comment: 15 pages

Large language models (LLM) excel at a variety of natural language processing tasks, yet they struggle to generate personalized content for individuals, particularly in real-world scenarios like scientific writing. Addressing this challenge, we introduce STEP-BACK PROFILING to personalize LLMs by distilling user history into concise profiles, including essential traits and preferences of users. To conduct the experiments, we construct a Personalized Scientific Writing (PSW) dataset to study multi-user personalization. PSW requires the models to write scientific papers given specialized author groups with diverse academic backgrounds. As for the results, we demonstrate the effectiveness of capturing user characteristics via STEP-BACK PROFILING for collaborative writing. Moreover, our approach outperforms the baselines by up to 3.6 points on the general personalization benchmark (LaMP), including 7 personalization LLM tasks. Our ablation studies validate the contributions of different components in our method and provide insights into our task definition. Recently, large-scale trapped ion systems have been realized in experiments for quantum simulation and quantum computation. They are the simplest systems for dynamical stability and parametric resonance. In this model, the Mathieu equation plays the most fundamental role for us to understand the stability and instability of a single ion. In this work, we investigate the dynamics of trapped ions with the Coulomb interaction based on the Hamiltonian equation. We show that the many-body interaction will not influence the phase diagram for instability. Then, the dynamics of this model in the large damping limit will also be analytically calculated using few trapped ions. Furthermore, we find that in the presence of modulation, synchronization dynamics can be observed, showing an exchange of velocities between distant ions on the left side and on the right side of the trap. These dynamics resemble to that of the exchange of velocities in Newton's cradle for the collision of balls at the same time. These dynamics are independent of their initial conditions and the number of ions. As a unique feature of the interacting Mathieu equation, we hope this behavior, which leads to a quasi-periodic solution, can be measured in current experimental systems. Finally, we have also discussed the effect of anharmonic trapping potential, showing the desynchronization during the collision process. It is hopped that the dynamics in this many-body Mathieu equation with damping may find applications in quantum simulations. This model may also find interesting applications in dynamics systems as a pure mathematical problem, which may be beyond the results in the Floquet theorem., Comment: 15 pages, 14 figures

The rapid development of quantum computers has enabled demonstrations of quantum advantages on various tasks. However, real quantum systems are always dissipative due to their inevitable interaction with the environment, and the resulting non-unitary dynamics make quantum simulation challenging with only unitary quantum gates. In this work, we present an innovative and scalable method to simulate open quantum systems using quantum computers. We define an adjoint density matrix as a counterpart of the true density matrix, which reduces to a mixed-unitary quantum channel and thus can be effectively sampled using quantum computers. This method has several benefits, including no need for auxiliary qubits and noteworthy scalability. Moreover, accurate long-time simulation can also be achieved as the adjoint density matrix and the true dissipated one converge to the same state. Finally, we present deployments of this theory in the dissipative quantum $XY$ model for the evolution of correlation and entropy with short-time dynamics and the disordered Heisenberg model for many-body localization with long-time dynamics. Finding accurate ground state energy of a many-body system has been a major challenge in quantum chemistry. The integration of classic and quantum computers has shed new light on resolving this outstanding problem. Here we propose QiankunNet-VQE, a transformer based language models enforced with quantum computing to learn and generate quantum states. It has been implemented using up to 12 qubits and attaining an accuracy level competitive with state-of-the-art classical methods. By leveraging both quantum and classical resources, this scheme overcomes the limitations of variational quantum eigensolver(VQE) without the need for cumbersome error mitigation. Moreover, QiankunNet-VQE provides a different route to achieve a practical quantum advantage for solving many-electron Schr\"odinger equation without requiring extremely precise preparation and measurement of the ground-state wavefunction on quantum computer.

Topological phases are generally characterized by topological invariants denoted by integer numbers. However, different topological systems often require different topological invariants to measure, such as geometric phases, topological orders, winding numbers, etc. Moreover, geometric phases and its associated definitions usually fail at critical points. Therefore, it's challenging to predict what would occur during the transformation between two different topological phases. To address these issues, in this work, we propose a general definition based on fidelity and trace distance from quantum information theory: manifold distance. This definition does not rely on the berry connection of the manifolds but rather on the information of the two manifolds - their ground state wave functions. Thus, it can measure different topological systems (including traditional band topology models, non-Hermitian systems, and topological order models, etc.) and exhibit some universal laws during the transformation between two topological phases. Our research demonstrates that when the properties of two manifolds are identical, the distance and associated higher-order derivatives between them can smoothly transition to each other. However, for two different topological manifolds, the higher-order derivatives exhibit various divergent behaviors near the critical points. For subsequent studies, we expect the method to be generalized to real-space or non-lattice models, in order to facilitate the study of a wider range of physical platforms such as open systems and many-body localization., Comment: 7+36 pages, 4+31 figures

Axion insulators possess a quantized axion field $\theta=\pi$ protected by combined lattice and time-reversal symmetry, holding great potential for device applications in layertronics and quantum computing. Here, we propose a high-spin axion insulator (HSAI) defined in large spin-$s$ representation, which maintains the same inherent symmetry but possesses a notable axion field $\theta=(s+1/2)^2\pi$. Such distinct axion field is confirmed independently by the direct calculation of the axion term using hybrid Wannier functions, layer-resolved Chern numbers, as well as the topological magneto-electric effect. We show that the guaranteed gapless quasi-particle excitation is absent at the boundary of the HSAI despite its integer surface Chern number, hinting an unusual quantum anomaly violating the conventional bulk-boundary correspondence. Furthermore, we ascertain that the axion field $\theta$ can be precisely tuned through an external magnetic field, enabling the manipulation of bonded transport properties. The HSAI proposed here can be experimentally verified in ultra-cold atoms by the quantized non-reciprocal conductance or topological magnetoelectric response. Line detection is a classic and essential problem in image processing, computer vision and machine intelligence. Line detection has many important applications, including image vectorization (e.g., document recognition and art design), indoor mapping, and important societal challenges (e.g., sea ice fracture line extraction from satellite imagery). Many line detection algorithms and methods have been developed, but robust and intuitive methods are still lacking. In this paper, we proposed and implemented a topological graph-guided algorithm, named TGGLinesPlus, for line detection. Our experiments on images from a wide range of domains have demonstrated the flexibility of our TGGLinesPlus algorithm. We also benchmarked our algorithm with five classic and state-of-the-art line detection methods and the results demonstrate the robustness of TGGLinesPlus. We calculate the form factor $M(q^2)$ for the Dalitz decay $J/\psi\to \gamma^*(q^2)\eta_{(N_f=1)}$ with $\eta_{(N_f)}$ being the SU($N_f$) flavor singlet pseudoscalar meson. The difference among the partial widths $\Gamma(J/\psi\to \gamma \eta_{(N_f)})$ at different $N_f$ can be attributed in part to the $\mathbf{U}_A(1)$ anomaly that induces a $N_f$ scaling. $M(q^2)$'s in $N_f=1,2$ are both well described by the single pole model $M(q^2)=M(0)/(1-q^2/\Lambda^2)$. Combined with the known experimental results of the Dalitz decays $J/\psi\to Pe^+e^-$, the pseudoscalar mass $m_P$ dependence of the pole parameter $\Lambda$ is approximated by $\Lambda(m_P^2)=\Lambda_1(1-m_P^2/\Lambda_2^2)$ with $\Lambda_1=2.64(4)~\mathrm{GeV}$ and $\Lambda_2=2.97(33)~\mathrm{GeV}$. Webpage entity extraction is a fundamental natural language processing task in both research and applications. Nowadays, the majority of webpage entity extraction models are trained on structured datasets which strive to retain textual content and its structure information. However, existing datasets all overlook the rich hypertext features (e.g., font color, font size) which show their effectiveness in previous works. To this end, we first collect a \textbf{H}ypertext \textbf{E}ntity \textbf{E}xtraction \textbf{D}ataset (\textit{HEED}) from the e-commerce domains, scraping both the text and the corresponding explicit hypertext features with high-quality manual entity annotations. Furthermore, we present the \textbf{Mo}E-based \textbf{E}ntity \textbf{E}xtraction \textbf{F}ramework (\textit{MoEEF}), which efficiently integrates multiple features to enhance model performance by Mixture of Experts and outperforms strong baselines, including the state-of-the-art small-scale models and GPT-3.5-turbo. Moreover, the effectiveness of hypertext features in \textit{HEED} and several model components in \textit{MoEEF} are analyzed.

We introduce AutoVER, an Autoregressive model for Visual Entity Recognition. Our model extends an autoregressive Multi-modal Large Language Model by employing retrieval augmented constrained generation. It mitigates low performance on out-of-domain entities while excelling in queries that require visually-situated reasoning. Our method learns to distinguish similar entities within a vast label space by contrastively training on hard negative pairs in parallel with a sequence-to-sequence objective without an external retriever. During inference, a list of retrieved candidate answers explicitly guides language generation by removing invalid decoding paths. The proposed method achieves significant improvements across different dataset splits in the recently proposed Oven-Wiki benchmark. Accuracy on the Entity seen split rises from 32.7% to 61.5%. It also demonstrates superior performance on the unseen and query splits by a substantial double-digit margin., Comment: ECCV 2024

We study the $S$-wave $D\bar{D}^*(I=0)$ scattering at four different pion masses $m_\pi$ ranging from 250 MeV to 417 MeV from $N_f=2$ lattice QCD. Three energy levels $E_{2,3,4}$ are extracted at each $m_\pi$. The analysis of $E_{2,3}$ using the effective range expansion (ERE) comes out with a shallow bound state below the $D\bar{D}^*$ threshold, and the phase shifts at $E_{3,4}$ indicate the possible existence of a resonance near 4.0 GeV. We also perform a joint analysis to $E_{2,3,4}$ through the $K$-matrix parameterization of the scattering amplitude. In this way, we observe a $D\bar{D}^*$ bound state whose properties are almost the same as that from the ERE analysis. At each $m_\pi$, this joint analysis also results in a resonance pole with a mass slightly above 4.0 GeV and a width around 40-60 MeV, which are compatible with the properties of the newly observed $\chi_{c1}(4010)$ by LHCb. More scrutinized lattice QCD calculations are desired to check the existence of this resonance., Comment: 19 pages, 14 figures. Substantially revised. Recent advancements in large language models (LLMs) have opened new pathways for many domains. However, the full potential of LLMs in financial investments remains largely untapped. There are two main challenges for typical deep learning-based methods for quantitative finance. First, they struggle to fuse textual and numerical information flexibly for stock movement prediction. Second, traditional methods lack clarity and interpretability, which impedes their application in scenarios where the justification for predictions is essential. To solve the above challenges, we propose Ploutos, a novel financial LLM framework that consists of PloutosGen and PloutosGPT. The PloutosGen contains multiple primary experts that can analyze different modal data, such as text and numbers, and provide quantitative strategies from different perspectives. Then PloutosGPT combines their insights and predictions and generates interpretable rationales. To generate accurate and faithful rationales, the training strategy of PloutosGPT leverage rearview-mirror prompting mechanism to guide GPT-4 to generate rationales, and a dynamic token weighting mechanism to finetune LLM by increasing key tokens weight. Extensive experiments show our framework outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on both prediction accuracy and interpretability., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures

Correlated errors can significantly impact the quantum error correction, which challenges the assumption that errors occur in different qubits independently in both space and time. Superconducting qubits have been found to suffer correlated errors across multiple qubits, which could be attributable to ionizing radiations and cosmic rays. Nevertheless, the direct evidence and a quantitative understanding of this relationship are currently lacking. In this work, we propose to continuously monitor multi-qubit simultaneous charge-parity jumps to detect correlated errors and find that occur more frequently than multi-qubit simultaneous bit flips. Then, we propose to position two cosmic-ray muon detectors directly beneath the sample box in a dilution refrigerator and successfully observe the correlated errors in a superconducting qubit array triggered by muons. By introducing a lead shielding layer on the refrigerator, we also reveal that the majority of other correlated errors are primarily induced by gamma rays. Furthermore, we find the superconducting film with a higher recombination rate of quasiparticles used in the qubits is helpful in reducing the duration of correlated errors. Our results provide experimental evidence of the impact of gamma rays and muons on superconducting quantum computation and offer practical insights into mitigation strategies for quantum error correction. In addition, we observe the average occurrence rate of muon-induced correlated errors in our processor is approximately 0.40 min$^{-1}$cm$^{-2}$, which is comparable to the muon event rate detected by the muon detector with 0.506 min$^{-1}$cm$^{-2}$. Understanding and identifying musical shape plays an important role in music education and performance assessment. To simplify the otherwise time- and cost-intensive musical shape evaluation, in this paper we explore how artificial intelligence (AI) driven models can be applied. Considering musical shape evaluation as a classification problem, a light-weight Siamese residual neural network (S-ResNN) is proposed to automatically identify musical shapes. To assess the proposed approach in the context of piano musical shape evaluation, we have generated a new dataset, containing 4116 music pieces derived by 147 piano preparatory exercises and performed in 28 categories of musical shapes. The bosonic Josephson junction, one of the maximally simple models for periodic-driven many-body systems, has been intensively studied in the past two decades. Here, we revisit this problem with five different methods, all of which have solid theoretical reasoning. We find that to the order of $\omega^{-2}$ ($\omega$ is the modulating frequency), these approaches will yield slightly different Floquet Hamiltonians. In particular, the parameters in the Floquet Hamiltonians may be unchanged, increased, or decreased, depending on the approximations used. Especially, some of the methods generate new interactions, which still preserve the total number of particles; and the others do not. The validity of these five effective models is verified using dynamics of population imbalance and self-trapping phase transition. In all results, we find the method by first performing a unitary rotation to the Hamiltonian will have the highest accuracy. The difference between them will become significate when the modulating frequency is comparable with the driving amplitude. The results presented in this work indicate that the analysis of the Floquet Hamiltonian has some kind of subjectivity, which will become an important issue in future experiments with the increasing of precision. We demonstrate this physics using a Bose-Josephson junction, and it is to be hoped that the validity of these methods and their tiny differences put forward in this work can be verified in realistic experiments in future using quantum simulating platforms, including but not limited to ultracold atoms., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures

This paper presents an in-depth analysis of Large Language Models (LLMs), focusing on LLaMA, a prominent open-source foundational model in natural language processing. Instead of assessing LLaMA through its generative output, we design multiple-choice tasks to probe its intrinsic understanding in high-order tasks such as reasoning and computation. We examine the model horizontally, comparing different sizes, and vertically, assessing different layers. We unveil several key and uncommon findings based on the designed probing tasks: (1) Horizontally, enlarging model sizes almost could not automatically impart additional knowledge or computational prowess. Instead, it can enhance reasoning abilities, especially in math problem solving, and helps reduce hallucinations, but only beyond certain size thresholds; (2) In vertical analysis, the lower layers of LLaMA lack substantial arithmetic and factual knowledge, showcasing logical thinking, multilingual and recognitive abilities, with top layers housing most computational power and real-world knowledge., Comment: 15 pages

The mobility edge, as a central concept in disordered models for localization-delocalization transitions, has rarely been discussed in the context of random matrix theory (RMT). Here we report a new class of random matrix model by direct coupling between two random matrices, showing that their overlapped spectra and un-overlapped spectra exhibit totally different scaling behaviors, which can be used to construct tunable mobility edges. This model is a direct generalization of the Rosenzweig-Porter model, which hosts ergodic, localized, and non-ergodic extended (NEE) phases. A generic theory for these phase transitions is presented, which applies equally well to dense, sparse, and even corrected random matrices in different ensembles. We show that the phase diagram is fully characterized by two scaling exponents, and they are mapped out in various conditions. Our model provides a general framework to realize the mobility edges and non-ergodic phases in a controllable way in RMT, which pave avenue for many intriguing applications both from the pure mathematics of RMT and the possible implementations of ME in many-body models, chiral symmetry breaking in QCD and the stability of the large ecosystems., Comment: 7+10 pages, 5+7 figures

The quantum to classical transition (QCT) is one of the central mysteries in quantum physics. This process is generally interpreted as state collapse from measurement or decoherence from interacting with the environment. Here we define the quantumness of a Hamiltonian by the free energy difference between its quantum and classical descriptions, which vanishes during QCT. We apply this criterion to the many-body Rabi model and study its scaling law across the phase transition, finding that not only the temperature and Planck constant, but also all the model parameters are important for this transition. We show that the Jaynes-Cummings and anti Jaynes-Cummings models exhibit greater quantumness than the Rabi model. Moreover, we show that the rotating wave and anti-rotating wave terms in this model have opposite quantumness in QCT. We demonstrate that the quantumness may be enhanced or suppressed at the critical point. Finally, we estimate the quantumness of the Rabi model in current trapped ion experiments. Previous entity disambiguation (ED) methods adopt a discriminative paradigm, where prediction is made based on matching scores between mention context and candidate entities using length-limited encoders. However, these methods often struggle to capture explicit discourse-level dependencies, resulting in incoherent predictions at the abstract level (e.g. topic or category). We propose CoherentED, an ED system equipped with novel designs aimed at enhancing the coherence of entity predictions. Our method first introduces an unsupervised variational autoencoder (VAE) to extract latent topic vectors of context sentences. This approach not only allows the encoder to handle longer documents more effectively, conserves valuable input space, but also keeps a topic-level coherence. Additionally, we incorporate an external category memory, enabling the system to retrieve relevant categories for undecided mentions. By employing step-by-step entity decisions, this design facilitates the modeling of entity-entity interactions, thereby maintaining maximum coherence at the category level. We achieve new state-of-the-art results on popular ED benchmarks, with an average improvement of 1.3 F1 points. Generative approaches powered by large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated emergent abilities in tasks that require complex reasoning abilities. Yet the generative nature still makes the generated content suffer from hallucinations, thus unsuitable for entity-centric tasks like entity linking (EL) requiring precise entity predictions over a large knowledge base. We present Instructed Generative Entity Linker (INSGENEL), the first approach that enables casual language models to perform entity linking over knowledge bases. Several methods to equip language models with EL capability were proposed in this work, including (i) a sequence-to-sequence training EL objective with instruction-tuning, (ii) a novel generative EL framework based on a light-weight potential mention retriever that frees the model from heavy and non-parallelizable decoding, achieving 4$\times$ speedup without compromise on linking metrics. INSGENEL outperforms previous generative alternatives with +6.8 F1 points gain on average, also with a huge advantage in training data efficiency and training compute consumption. Existing research predominantly focuses on developing powerful language learning models (LLMs) for mathematical reasoning within monolingual languages, with few explorations in preserving efficacy in a multilingual context. To bridge this gap, this paper pioneers exploring and training powerful Multilingual Math Reasoning (xMR) LLMs. Firstly, by utilizing translation, we construct the first multilingual math reasoning instruction dataset, MGSM8KInstruct, encompassing ten distinct languages, thus addressing the issue of training data scarcity in xMR tasks. Based on the collected dataset, we propose different training strategies to build powerful xMR LLMs, named MathOctopus, notably outperform conventional open-source LLMs and exhibit superiority over ChatGPT in few-shot scenarios. Notably, MathOctopus-13B reaches 47.6% accuracy which exceeds ChatGPT 46.3% on MGSM testset. Beyond remarkable results, we unearth several pivotal observations and insights from extensive experiments: (1) When extending the rejection sampling strategy to the multilingual context, it proves effective for model performances, albeit limited. (2) Employing parallel corpora for math Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) across multiple languages not only significantly enhances model performance multilingually but also elevates their monolingual performance. This indicates that crafting multilingual corpora can be regarded as a vital strategy for enhancing model performance in a specific language, especially in mathematical reasoning tasks. For instance, MathOctopus-7B improves its counterparts that trained on English from 42.2% to 50.8% on GSM8K testset. We present the light-flavor quark masses and low energy constants using the 2+1 flavor full-QCD ensembles with stout smeared clover fermion action and Symanzik gauge actions. Both the fermion and gauge actions are tadpole improved self-consistently. The simulations are performed on 11 ensembles at 3 lattice spacings $a\in[0.05,0.11]$ fm, 4 spatial sizes $L\in[2.5, 5.1]$ fm, 7 pion masses $m_{\pi}\in[135,350]$ MeV, and several values of the strange quark mass. The quark mass is defined through the partially conserved axial current (PCAC) relation and renormalized to $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ 2 GeV through the intermediate regularization independent momentum subtraction (RI/MOM) scheme. The systematic uncertainty of using the symmetric momentum subtraction (SMOM) scheme is also included. Eventually, we predict $m_u=2.45(22)(20)$ MeV, $m_d=4.74(11)(09)$ MeV, and $m_s=98.8(2.9)(4.7)$ MeV with the systematic uncertainties from lattice spacing determination, continuum extrapolation and renormalization constant included. We also obtain the chiral condensate $\Sigma^{1/3}=268.6(3.6)(0.7)$ MeV and the pion decay constant $F=86.6(7)(1.4) $ MeV in the $N_f=2$ chiral limit, and the next-to-leading order low energy constants $\ell_3=2.43(54)(05)$ and $\ell_4=4.322(75)(96)$., Comment: Version accepted by PRD. 7 pages, 4 figures, with more details in the appendix
