The article presents information on green politics, through a discussion of some books, namely, "Green Politics"; "From Red to Green"; "Fighting for Hope." In the United States an artificial economic boom combined with a stupifying Democratic effort to give four more years of Reaganism, thus sentencing the world's largest economy to more unemployment, Poverty, hunger, arms production and ecological decay. The intention of the this article is to investigate this phenomenon through a look at three books on the first glimpses of a compelling new analysis of the current situation, of far-reaching potential significance in the united States as well for activists and hitherto uninvolved citizens alike. If this trend, as well as the others, can deepen its self-understanding and general appeal, the balance sheet on 1984 may yet have to be redrawn by positive future developments. Green-oriented Americans can draw on a wide variety of new paradigm ideas, organizations and movements that already exist, as the authors point out, but it is just as clear that the obstacles faced are enormous--the dominant political culture the mainstream media and not least, a highly Centralized two-party political system that has no mechanism for representing small, new parties (while an American Green party could Conceivably quickly surpass the West Germans' 5-10% at the polls, it would receive no representation whatsoever in return) Combined with the reactionary orientation of the Republican Party and the no less disappointing conservatism and lack of imagination of the Democrats the Prospect for substantial electoral relief from the current impasse in the U.S. must be rated as distant.
