Graphene has attracted widespread attention for development of high-performance lithium-ion battery anode materials. In this paper, the lithium storage mechanisms of multilayer graphene, few-layer graphene, and reduced graphene oxide electrodes are investigated, and the influences of layers and defects in the microstructure are analyzed. The evolution of microstructure deformation of different graphene electrodes, combined with the diffusivity and distribution of lithium, is systemically investigated by in-situ Raman spectroscopy during lithiation and delithiation. The results show that graphene electrodes with different structures exhibit different mechanical behaviors and thus different lithium storage capacities. Mechanical analysis indicates that although the surfaces and defects are active, interlayer lithium insertion contributes the most lithium storage capacity. As the number of graphene layers increases and/or defects decrease, more interlayer spaces would be provided. Thus, the lithium storage capacity of multilayer graphene is significantly higher than those of few-layer graphene and reduced graphene oxide. An in-depth understanding of the effect of the microstructure on the lithium storage behavior of graphene electrodes will provide an experimental basis for development of high-performance graphene electrodes.

A combined methodology is proposed to fabricate nanopatterned sapphire substrate with air cavity, which is used to improve the crystalline quality and light extraction efficiency of near-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes.

Low light extraction efficiency (LEE), high forward voltage and severe self-heating effect greatly affect the performance for AlGaN-based deep ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (DUV LEDs). In this work, surface-textured Ga-face n-AlGaN is fabricated low-costly using self-assembled SiO2 nanosphere as hard mask. The experimental results manifest that when compared with conventional DUV LEDs, the optical power, the forward voltage and the thermal characteristics for the DUV LEDs with surface-textured Ga-face n-AlGaN are improved obviously. It is because the surface-textured Ga-face n-AlGaN between mesa and the n-electrode can be used as the scattering center for trapped light, and this leads to the enhanced LEE. Furthermore, thanks to the surface-textured n-AlGaN under the n-electrode, the n-type ohmic contact area can be increased effectively. Therefore, the n-type ohmic contact resistance can be reduced and the better heat dissipation can be attained for the proposed flip-chip DUV LED.

We aim to research the molecular mechanism of lncRNA NEAT1 in the activation of astrocytes in a cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury model. Mouse model of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury was constructed, and shNEAT1 was transfected. The infarct area, brain water content, and neurological deficiency were detected. Immunofluorescence detection and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assay were processed to detect glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) expression. Astrocyte cells were cultured for oxygen-glucose deprivation/re-oxygenation (OGD)/re-oxygenation model construction. After treatment by shNEAT1, miR-488-3p mimic, miR-488-3p inhibitor, Q-PCR assay, western blot and ELISA were undertaken to detect the expressions of NEAT1, miR-488-3p, RAC1, inflammatory cytokines, RAC1 and GFAP. Dual luciferase reporter assay and RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation (RIP) assay were used to verify the binding of NEAT1, miR-488-3p and RAC1. The expression of NEAT1 in brain tissue was significantly higher than that in Sham operation group. Knockdown of NEAT1 inhibited the brain damage caused by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) treatment, reduced the inflammatory response, and suppressed the activation of astrocytes. By constructing an in vitro OGD/R cell model, it was found that NEAT1 knockdown also inhibited the activation of astrocytes caused by OGD/R. Knockdown of NEAT1 caused the up-regulation of miR-488-3p and the down-regulation of RAC1. Knockdown of miR-488-3p or over-expression of RAC1 reversed the inhibitory effect of shNEAT1 on OGD/R-induced astrocyte activation. Over-expression of NEAT1 in cerebral ischemic stroke promotes activation of astrocytes by modulation miR-488-3p/RAC1, which is proved in vitro. Our study may provide a new idea for the diagnosis and treatment of MCAO.

Objective Several scores were available for predicting atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence following radiofrequency ablation. Exploring their differences in patients with concurrent AF and pulmonary diseases (PDs) would be helpful for making AF treatment decisions. Methods and Results From January 2008 to April 2015, 304 patients with concurrent AF and PDs treated with catheter ablation were divided into 2 groups according to whether they experienced AF recurrence in our centers. The present study aimed to identify the function of miR‑491‑3p in regulating non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Tumor tissues and adjacent normal tissues were collected from 43 patients with NSCLC. A549 and H1299 cells were transfected with microRNA (miR)‑491‑3p mimic, mimic negative control (NC), miR‑491‑3p inhibitor, inhibitor NC, pcDNA3.1‑FGF5 vector and control vector. Cell counting kit‑8 assay and Edu experiments were performed to assess cell viability and proliferation. Matrigel experiment, wound healing assay and flow cytometric analysis were performed to explore cell invasion, migration and apoptosis, respectively. A dual‑luciferase reporter experiment was performed to identify the relationship between miR‑491‑3p and fibroblast growth factor 5 (FGF5).

Tuning the plasmonic resonance peak to the deep ultraviolet (DUV) band is critical for plasmonic-enhanced AlGaN-based DUV photodetector. However,the high refractive index of AlGaN layer seriously limits the plasmonic resonance peak in DUV band. Therefore, in this work, we study how various Al nanoparticles on the AlGaN layer surface affect the plasmonic resonance performance. Compared with the Al-based nanosphere, nanohemisphere and nanodisk, the Al-based nanorod is the most suitable candidate for AlGaN-based DUV photodetectors. This is because the DUV plasmonic dipolar mode excited from the upper part of nanorod is not affected by the interface between the nanorods and the AlGaN layer. However, the interface also leads to another plasmonic dipolar mode at longer wavelengths. Moreover, the DUV plasmonic resonance peak will be influenced by the diameter, the height and the Al2O3 layer thickness. We also find that the diffraction can enhance the resonance peak intensity when the Al nanorod period is smaller than the resonance peak wavelength. Besides, to make the enhanced electric field located in active layer, a layer of Ga2O3 shell is proposed to cover Al nanorods, which causes a quadrupole mode in DUV band excited from the sidewall of Al nanorods.

In this work, by using three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D FDTD) method, the effect of conventional nano-patterned sapphire substrate (NPSS) on the optical crosstalk and the light extraction efficiency (LEE) for InGaN/GaN-based flip-chip micro light-emitting diodes (µ-LEDs) are systematically studied. We find that the conventional NPSS is not suitable for µ-LEDs. It is because the inclined mesa sidewall for µ-LEDs possesses a good scattering effect for µ-LEDs, but the introduced conventional NPSS causes part of the light be off escape cone between sapphire and air and become the guided light. To suppress the guided light and improve the optical crosstalk, a thick air layer between the n-GaN layer and the sapphire substrate can be used as a light filter to prevent the guided light from propagating into the sapphire. However, in reality, it is challenging to make the aforementioned air layer from point of fabrication view. Therefore, we propose the air-cavity patterned sapphire substrate (AC-PSS) as the light filter. Our results show that the crosstalk ratio can be decreased to the value even lower than 10%. The LEE can also be enhanced simultaneously due to combination effects of the filtering effect of the AC-PSS and the scattering effect of the inclined mesa sidewall.

Arjunolic acid (AA), as the most abundant triterpenoid component in Cyclocarya paliurus (Batal) Iljinskaja, previously displayed delipidating effects in free fatty acid (FFA)-induced HepG2 steatosis cells. However, whether AA still possesses the ameliorative effects on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in normal hepatocytes and in vivo remains vacant and the detailed mechanisms are not defined. In vitro, AA dose-dependently alleviated lipid accumulation in FFA-challenged primary hepatocytes without cytotoxicity. In vivo, AA showed pleiotropic benefits, including attenuating adiposity, mitigating hepatic steatosis and inflammation, improving lipid disorders and insulin resistance, and restoring the impaired gut barrier. Mechanically, we found that AA indirectly activated Sirt1/AMPK-modulated lipid metabolism through elevating NAMPT-mediated NAD+ level, and triggering autophagy, together mediating the lipid-lowering effects. Collectively, our results convey that AA can substantially mitigate NAFLD via indirectly activating Sirt1/AMPK signaling, inducing autophagy and restoring gut barrier, and will be considered as a promising candidate for NAFLD therapy.

Background Ischemia reperfusion injury plays an important role in free flap necrosis. However, the detailed mechanism is not clear, and effective methods for improving the survival rate of skin flap are still lacking. Objective To investigate the regulation and functional link between necroptosis and ischemia-reperfusion injury of mouse flap. Methods We established a mouse ischemia-reperfusion injury flap model and a cell Oxygen Glucose Deprivation (OGD) model intervened with Necrostatin-1. The mouse flap tissues were harvested in vivo for histological immunofluorescence analysis and western blotting analyses. The HUVECs cells with various treatments in vitro were assessed by using Transwell assay, tube formation assay, cell counting kit-8 analysis and flow cytometry. A Rip3-knockout cell line and a TNFR1-knockout cell line were generated from HUVEC cells using the CRISPR-Cas9 technology and were subsequently used to explore the related mechanisms. Results The expression of p-Rip3 is positive in both mouse and cell culture models. When necroptosis is completely or partially inhibited in vivo, damaged tissues are repaired with better efficiency. The cells treated with Necrostatin-1 in vitro exhibit faster migration, proliferation and better tube formation. Deficiency of TNFR1 can block the necroptosis pathway by blocking the phosphorylation of Rip3 in HUVEC OGD/ROG model. Meanwhile, the levels of APJ, HIF-1α, and VEGF are reduced when necroptosis is inhibited by Necrostatin-1. Conclusion TNFR1 mediates Rip1/Rip3 in ischemia-reperfusion injury. Inhibition of necroptosis attenuates the ischemia-reperfusion injury of flap and may enhance hypoxic tolerance of HUVECs and vascular homeostasis through regulation of the HIF-1α signaling pathways.

It is known that light extraction efficiency (LEE) for AlGaN-based deep ultraviolet light-emitting didoes (DUV LEDs) can be enhanced by using truncated cone arrays with inclined sidewalls. In this work, the air-cavity-shaped inclined sidewall is applied and the p-GaN layer at the top of the truncated cone is laterally over-etched so that more light escape paths are generated for AlGaN-based DUV LEDs. The experimental results manifest that when compared with DUV LEDs only having the air-cavity-shaped inclined sidewall, the optical power for the DUV LEDs with laterally over-etched p-GaN at the top of the truncated cone is enhanced by 30% without sacrificing the forward bias. It is because the over-etched p-GaN makes little effect on the carrier injection and does not affect the ohmic contact resistance. Moreover, the simulation results show that the truncated cone with laterally over-etched p-GaN layer can enhance the LEE because the reduced p-GaN area can suppress the optical absorption and supplies additional light paths for DUV photos. Then, more light will be reflected into escape cones at the sapphire side.

A series of binuclear metallophthalocyanines (M2Pc2(CP)4, M = Fe2+, Co2+, and Zn2+) were synthesized and wrapped on the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) by a facile “in situ hydrothermal” to improve the desulfurization performance. The morphological characteristics and chemical environment of the MWCNTs/M2Pc2(CP)4 composites were characterized by FTIR, SEM, XRD, UV–vis, and XPS. The results showed that M2Pc2(CP)4 complexes were supported on the surface of the MWCNTs with strong π-π supramolecular interaction and the sizes of the composites were mainly distributed in the range of 300 to 500 nm. The oxidative desulfurization activity of the MWCNTs/M2Pc2(CP)4 composites was investigated using a bio-inspired catalytic system taking molecular O2 as an economical and environmentally friendly oxidizer. The MWCNTs/M2Pc2(CP)4 composites exhibited significant activity for ultra-deep removal of dibenzothiophene (DBT) from the model fuel. The conversion rate of DBT was 96.95%, which was 41% higher than that of the pure CNT. A bio-inspired catalytic reaction mechanism is proposed. The desulfurization activity of the MWCNTs/M2Pc2(CP)4 composites can be recycled for five times without a significant decrease. The results indicated that M2Pc2(CP)4 drastically improved the photocatalytic performance of CNT.

Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino (Cucurbitaceae family) is a perennial creeping plant with a common Chinese name of “south ginseng”. To date, more than 250 individual saponins with dammarane-type skeleton have been isolated from G. pentaphyllum. The purpose of this study was the isolation and structural characterization of novel, minor gypenosides from G. pentaphyllum and evaluation of their Sirt1 agonist activity. Individual saponins from G. pentaphyllum were isolated and purified by a variety of chromatography techniques, and their structures were elucidated by means of various spectroscopic analysis and comparision with the reported data. Sirt1 enzyme activity detection kit was used to preliminarily evaluate the Sirt1 agonist activity of thirty three individual saponins purified from G. pentaphyllum. Fourteen new triterpenoid saponins named gypenoside CII-CXV (1–14) along with twenty six known compounds (15–40) were isolated from G. pentaphyllum. Thirty three of all the isolates were screened for Sirt1 agonist activity, and the results showed that three dammarane-type saponins (2, 18, 37) and one cucurbitane-type saponin 33 exhibited satisfactory Sirt1 agonist activity. These findings suggested that G. pentaphyllum was worthy of further investigation to find small molecule Sirt1 agonist and facilitate their utilization as “south ginseng”.

In this work, carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-templated binuclear metallophthalocyanines (MTAPcCF3)2C (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) assemblies (MTAPcCF3)2C–COOH–CNTs are designed and obtained. Whereafter, the structure and morphology of target products are analyzed by many means such as infrared, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The electrocatalytic performances of lithium-thionyl chloride battery catalyzed by (MTAPcCF3)2C–COOH–CNTs were carried out. The result shows that all catalysts can improve the battery performance including the discharge time and the initial voltage. The catalytic performance of (MTAPcCF3)2C–COOH–CNTs is ordered following the central metal: Mn > Fe > Ni > Co > Cu > Zn. The cell capacity catalyzed by optimal catalyst (MnTAPcCF3)2C–COOH–CNTs can expand to 28.08 mA·h, with increase by 142.07%, and the (MnTAPcCF3)2C–COOH–CNTs can extend the discharge time to 551.6 s. Besides, the reaction mechanism is presented on the basis of cyclic voltammetry measurements.

Oxidative desulfurization (ODS) is one of the most promising methods of ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD). Herein, metallophthalocyanine(MPc(COOH)4Cl8, M = Mn(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅱ), Co(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ)) composites are synthesized by a facile in situ solid method and characterized by elemental analysis, UV–Vis, XPS and IR spectra. The simulated bionic catalytic system is composed of MPc(COOH)4Cl8 and molecular O2, which exhibited great activity for ultra-deep removal of dibenzothiophene (DBT) from the model oil containing n-octane. The catalytic activity of MPc(COOH)4Cl8 for the degradation of DBT in fuel was significantly improved at room temperature with natural light irradiation. After 90 min of catalytic reaction, the sulfur content in the model fuel decreased from (800 ppm) to 20 ppm. Catalytic activity studies revealed that the central metal ions of phthalocyanine structures presented a significant influence in the catalytic activity for the degradation of DBT. Additionally, mechanistic studies revealed that the ‘∗O2-MPcTcCl8+’ species was the key active intermediate. The metallophthalocyanine composites as active photocatalysts offer great potential for degradation of thiophene derivatives in fuel.

Solid polymer electrolyte plays an important part in the development of flexible solid-state lithium ion battery. However, the low ionic conductivity at room temperature limits its practical application. In this article, graphite carbonitride (g-C3N4) was prepared by thermal polymerization method and was blended with polyethylene oxide/lithium perchlorate (PEO/LiClO4) to prepare composite solid polymer electrolyte. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and electrochemical workstation were used to characterize the prepared composite solid polymer electrolyte. Results demonstrated that not only the 120 °C annealing and then quenching thermal treatment, but also the interaction among components in composite solid polymer electrolytes could restrict the crystallization of PEO. As a result, the ionic conductivity of composite solid polymer electrolytes at 25 °C could reach to 2.35×10−5 S cm−1, which was three order higher than that of the PEO/LiClO4 polymer electrolyte film.

An in situ strategy was introduced for synthesizing carbon modified graphitic carbon nitride(g-C3N4) by using urea/4-aminobenzoic acid(PABA) co-crystal(PABA@Urea) as precursor materials. Via co-calcination of the PABA co-former and the urea in PABA@Urea co-crystals, C guest species were generated and compounded into g-C3N4 matrix in situ by replacing the lattice N of the carbon nitride and forming carbon dots onto its layer surface. The carbon modification dramatically enhanced visible-light harvesting and charge carrier separation. Therefore, visible light photo-catalytic oxidation of methylene blue(MB) pollution in water over the carbon modified g-C3N4 (C/g-C3N4) was notably improved. Up to 99% of methylene blue(MB) was eliminated within 60 min by the optimal sample prepared from the PABA@Urea co-crystal with a PABA content of 0.1%(mass ratio), faster than the degradation rate over bare g-C3N4. The present study demonstrates a new way to boost up the photocatalysis performance of g-C3N4, which holds great potential concerning the degradation of organic dyes from water.

Dinuclear metallophthalocyanines Fe2Pc2(CP)4 containing carboxyl substitutes were wrapped with amino-functionalized carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-NH2) to enhance electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) using a facile “in situ” amidation reaction. The morphological characteristics and chemical environment of the Fe2Pc2(CP)4/MWCNTs-NH2 composites were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction, Ultraviolet–visible (UV-Vis), Fourier Transform infrared (FTIR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The electrocatalytic activity of ORR was tested and analyzed by cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry. The results showed that the π–π interactions between the Fe2Pc2(CP)4 and MWCNTs-NH2 dramatically enhanced the π electron density in the conjugated structure, and oxygen could be reduced much more easily. Moreover, the oxygen reduction reactions mainly proceeded a one-step four electron process for Fe2Pc2(CP)4/MWCNTs-NH2 catalysts. The dispersion and electrocatalytic performance of M2Pc2Rn had be enhanced after being loaded on functionalized carbon nanotubes.

Although soft electronic materials are of significant importance for flexible electronic devices, most of them are derived from commercial polymer elastomers, such as polydimethylsiloxane, polyurethane and Ecoflex. In this work, citric acid-based degradable polyester elastomers are prepared by a melt polycondensation process, utilizing citric acid, 1,8-octanediol and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as monomers. Furthermore, poly(1,8-octanediol citrate acid) (POC)-PEG/silver nanowire (AgNW) conductive polyester elastomers (CPEs) are prepared by introducing a AgNW layer on the surface of the POC-PEG films. Scanning electron microscopy images reveal that the thickness of the AgNW layer is on the scale of several micrometers and the AgNWs form a continuous conductive network. Upon mechanical stimuli, POC-PEG exhibits recoverable deformation and induces variation in the AgNW conductive network, resulting in a conversion of strain to detectable resistance. When tensile strain is applied, the POC-PEG/AgNW CPEs achieve a gauge factor of 231.6, a response range of 0%-50%, a low response time of 35 ms and high stability. Moreover, the POC-10PEG/AgNW CPE also responds to bending deformation with a gauge factor of 3667.5, a response range of 0%-8.4%, a low response time of 62 ms and high stability. On the basis of strain sensitivity, wireless sensors are further assembled by integrating the POC-PEG/AgNW CPEs into a Bluetooth signal transmission system. Various human motions and physiological activities are successfully monitored using the wireless sensors. The results demonstrate that degradable citric acid-based polyester elastomers/AgNW CPEs are promising materials for next-generation sustainable and flexible electronic devices.

Surgical sutures play an important role across a wide range of medical treatments and a wide variety exist, differing in strength, size, composition, and performance. Recently, increasing interest has been paid to bioactive and electronic sutures made of synthetic polymers, owing to their ability to reduce inflammation as well as medically and/or electronically facilitate wound healing. However, integrating sensing capabilities into bioactive sutures without adversely affecting their mechanical strength, biocompatibility, and/or bioactivity remains challenging. In this work, a set of biomimicking, antibacterial, and sensing sutures based on the regenerated silk fibroin is designed and fabricated. These sensing sutures, inspired by the "core-shell" multilayered structure of natural spider-silk fibers, are hierarchically structured and heterogeneously functionalized to allow for the integration of multiple, clinically favorable functions into one suture device. These functions included: reducing inflammation and bacterial infection in wound sites, measuring tension of both the tissue and suture, and aiding tissue healing via multi-modal controlled drug and growth factor release. Critically, these functions are coupled with real-time optical and electronic monitoring capabilities. This approach provides greater insight into multifunctional sutures with inherent sensing capabilities and offers enormous potential in both therapeutic and diagnostic applications.

The high overpotentials for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) create an extremely negative impact on the energy efficiency of the air-based battery systems. To overcome this problem, binuclear ball-type metallophthalocyanines containing methoxy substituents (M2Pc2(EP)4, M = Fe(ІІ), Co(ІІ) and Zn(ІІ)) were wrapped with polystyrene sodium sulfonate (PSS) modified graphene oxide (GO), using a facilely &ldquo, solvothermal &pi, &pi, assembly&rdquo, method to prepare M2Pc2(EP)4/PSS-Gr composites. Compared with the commercial Pt/C catalysts, the M2Pc2(EP)4/PSS-Gr composites enhanced the catalytic activity of oxygen reduction reaction. The &pi, electron conjugated structure of the MN4-type phthalocyanine macrocyclic system strongly influenced the one-step four-electron electrocatalytic process of the M2Pc2(EP)4/PSS-Gr composites. Moreover, the &pi, interactions between the M2Pc2(EP)4 and PSS-Gr dramatically enhanced the &pi, electron density in the conjugated structure and oxygen could be reduced more easily. The electrocatalytic activity test was displayed in the order of Fe2Pc2(FP)4/PSS-Gr &gt, Co2Pc2(EP)4/PSS-Gr &gt, Zn2Pc2(EP)4/PSS-Gr. The results indicated that the catalytic performance of M2Pc2Rn could be enhanced by the modification of &pi, electron conjugated structure of M2Pc2(EP)4 and carbon materials.

To investigate the relationship between life style, medication adherence and the development of in-stent restenosis after percutaneous coronary intervention. A total of 230 patients with coronary heart disease were recruited and investigated with semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire, international physical activity questionnaire, screening tool for psychological and Morisky questionnarie. Logistic regression was used for statistical analysis. Logistic regression analysis revealed that there was positive correlation between Morisky score (OR = 1.503), anger (OR = 1.135) and restenosis; and there was negative correlation between physical activity (OR = 0.346), folate intake (OR = 0.926), Vitamin C ingestion (OR = 0.881) and restenosis. The lifestyle and medication adherence of patients after percutaneous coronary intervention are predictors of restenosis, suggesting that it is necessary to strength intervention program to reduce restenosis.

With the emergence of environmental problems such as acid rain and haze, the study on fuel desulfurization has become an important subject of environmental protection. Oxidative desulfurization (ODS) becomes the promising method due to its mild reaction condition, low cost and high efficiency. In this work, two series of catalysts supported by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are prepared by two different procedures: a) the polyoxometalate (POM) is impregnated into the channel of CNTs by impregnation method, b) the modified CNTs is wrapped by polyoxometalate through ion exchange method. The novel catalysts are investigated by FT-IR, XRD, XPS, SEM and N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms. The desulfurization performance of all catalysts is carried out under a certain condition, and the catalysts have positive effects on dibenzothiophene (DBT) conversion. The effect of factors on desulfurization is evaluated, and the favorable conditions are determined. Based on optimal conditions, the DBT conversion reached up 99.4%, and the desulfurization system could be recycled 8 times without noticeable decrease in activity. In addition, the impact of the critical parameters (temperature, mass of catalyst and oxygen quantity) was investigated using Box–Behnken experimental design. The optimum simulation condition is consistent with the experimental investigation, which further proves the accuracy of the experimental conclusion.

Type D personality is a psychosocial risk factor for cardiovascular events and in-stent restenosis (ISR), but the mechanisms involved are not well understood. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary patterns on the association between Type D personality and ISR in patients with coronary artery disease treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).This cross-sectional study comprised a total of 230 post-PCI patients who were assessed for Type D personality, depression, dietary patterns, physical activity and medication adherence via self-administered questionnaires. ISR was assessed by coronary angiography.Type D personality (odds ratio [OR], 3.35; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.05-10.71, p=0.042), low fruit intake (OR, 0.30; 95% CI, 0.12-0.68, p=0.008) and low vegetable intake (OR, 0.48, 95% CI, 0.27-0.91, p=0.021) were independent risk factors for ISR after adjustment for psychosocial, lifestyle and cardiovascular risk factors. Mediation analyses revealed that Type D personality had a significant direct effect on the development of ISR (p0.05). In addition, nutrients in fruits and vegetables, including vitamin C, vitamin E and fiber, were important mediators of the relationship between Type D personality and ISR (p0.05), the percentage of total indirect effect was 24.65%.These findings suggested that the low intake of fruit and vegetables in Type D patients can predict ISR. The healthy dietary interventions to supply vitamin C, vitamin E and fiber may help to improve the prognosis in post-PCI patients with Type D personality.

This work describes the preparation, characterization and removal capability of a novel biomass derived carbonaceous sponges (CS) and their nanocomposites. The CS has hierarchically porous structure which is composed of lamellar structures and secondary porous structures. The pore size is on a scale from 1 nm to 200 μm. Utilizing the CS as adsorbents, rapid removal of model organic molecules, including methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO) and crystal violet (CV), from their aqueous solutions can be completed within 1 min with the assistance of pressure and the removal efficiency reaches up to 100%, 81% and 98%, respectively. The removal capabilities for CS towards MB, MO and CV are 0.0769 g/g, 0.2218 g/g and 1.0384 g/g, respectively and 0.0635 g/g, 0.0977 g/g and 0.8634 g/g, respectively for CS nanocomposites.

With the increasing aim of deep desulfurization of fuel, a kind of novel surfactant-type heteropolyacid [(CH3)2(CnH2n + 1)N(CH2)]2[POM] (SRL-POM, n = 10, 12, 14 and 16) was successfully synthesized and then it template self-construction of MOF-199 in the pore of MCM-41 (SRL-PMM). This catalyst was exploited to act as a stable heteropolyacid-based one, under the dual protection functions of MOF-199 and MCM-41. Structure was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), N2 adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and so on. Direct oxidation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) using O2 was performed by this surfactant-type heteropolyacid catalyst with 100% selectivity in the oxidation of DBT to sulfones under the optimal conditions and shown a better reusability. Furthermore, the kinetic studies reveal that the oxidative desulfurization can present a pseudo first-order kinetic process, and this work offers an alternative for oxidative desulfurization of real oil samples as well.

Flexible strain sensors are highly used in soft robotics, human–machine interfaces and health monitoring devices. However, it is still a big challenge to construct strain sensors with excellent mechanical properties and broad sensing ranges. In this study, a class of extremely stretchable and electrically conductive hydrogels with dually synergistic networks are fabricated for wearable resistive-type strain sensors. Dually synergistic networks are composed of a soft poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) network and a rigid conductive polyaniline (PANI) network. The PAA network is crosslinked by amphiphilic block copolymers, and the PANI network is chemically doped and ionically crosslinked by phytic acid and these two networks are further interlocked by physical entanglements, hydrogen bonds and ionic interactions. The resulting hydrogels have high tensile strength, controllable conductivity and large tensile deformation (1160%). Moreover, these hydrogels are utilized for fabricating strain sensors with good sensitivity and a wide sensing range (0–1130%). The high performances of hydrogels make such strain sensors suitable for wearable devices monitoring both subtle and large strains induced by human motions, including moving of two hands, bending of joints, conducting of gestures and swallowing.
