DATA AVA I L A B I L I T Y S TAT E M E N T: The data that support the findings of this study are available fromthe corresponding author upon reasonable request., Lactococcosis, caused by the Gram-positive bacterium Lactococcus garvieae, is a major concern in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) farms, which are regularly affected by outbreaks especially during the summer/fall months. In these farms, unvaccinated healthy and symptomatic fish can coexist with vaccinated fish. In the present study, innate (leukogram, serum lysozyme activity, peroxidase activity, antiprotease activity, bactericidal activity, total IgM and total proteins), and specific immune parameters (serum antibodies to L. garvieae) were assessed in unvaccinated adult rainbow trout naturally exposed to the pathogen, with or without evidence of clinical signs, or subjected to vaccination. Blood was drawn from all three groups, and blood smears were prepared. Bacteria were found in the blood smears of 70% of the symptomatic fish but not in any of the asymptomatic fish. Symptomatic fish showed lower blood lymphocytes and higher thrombocytes than asymptomatic fish (p ≤ .05). Serum lysozyme and bactericidal activity did not vary substantially among groups; however, serum antiprotease and peroxidase activity were significantly lower in the unvaccinated symptomatic group than in the unvaccinated and vaccinated asymptomatic groups (p ≤ .05). Serum total proteins and total immunoglobulin (IgM) levels in vaccinated asymptomatic rainbow trout were significantly higher than in unvaccinated asymptomatic and symptomatic groups (p ≤ .05). Similarly, vaccinated asymptomatic fish produced more specific IgM against L. garvieae than unvaccinated asymptomatic and symptomatic fish (p ≤ .05). This preliminary study provides basic knowledge on the immunological relationship occurring between the rainbow trout and L. garvieae, potentially predicting health outcomes. Abstract

Flathead grey mullet, Mugil cephalus, with mass whitish cystlike plasmodia on their scales were collected at Kerchensky preglass of the Black Sea in 2015. The prevalence of infected fish varied from 15% in spring, reached 100% in summer, and declined to 2.5% in autumn. No fish mortality was detected. The spores were oval in frontal view, tapering to a blunt apex. Two unequal polar capsules were pyriform and extended over the anterior half of spore. Spores were 8.2±0.03 µm (7.9-8.4) long, 5.9±0.23 µm (5.2-7.3) wide, and 4.4±0.17 µm (4.0-4.7) thick. Two pyriform and unequal polar capsules were observed (4.0±0.07 µm (3.3-4.5) long, and 1.5±0.24 µm (1.1-1.8) wide). The investigation of nucleotide sequences of the 18S rDNA gene of the myxosporean spores from scales with universal primer А (5′-ACCTGGTTGATCCTGCCAGT-3′) and В (5′-TGATCCTTCTGCAGGTTCACCTAC-3′) showed 100% identity with episquamalis, and 99 % with M. bizerti, M. ichkeulensis, M. spinacurvata and Myxobolus sp. previously detected in mullets. The results obtained from the present study reveal that M. episquamalis, found on the scales of M. cephalus from Kerchensky preglass of the Black Sea, is new record for Russian waters.

Abstract

A dedicated catalogue of services is developed in the frame of ENVRI-FAIR to address ENVRI private sector clients/users by defining and implementing strategies for strengthening RI innovation-cooperation awareness and preparedness and promoting industry uptake of ENVRI services in compliance with FAIR standards. The data collection for the catalogue is based on a survey aiming at analysing the current state of the relation between ENVRI and private sector and draw recommendations for strengthening this cooperation.

Abstract

The Deliverable 8.1 describes the work carried in Task 8.3 “Catalogue of E-RIHS resources and services”. With the term resource we intend any entity that may be of interest to a Infrastructure such as the one that the E-RIHS PP project is setting up, i.e. mainly datasets and services, but also people, organizations, instruments, and other entities. The catalogue aims at providing researchers with information related to Heritage Science resources available within E-RIHS through a formal model that helps categorising them according to their different features. Such features will also be used for discovering the resources in the Catalogue. The catalogue structure was designed to serve as the basis for accounting in-kind contributions and, in perspective, to be a single access point for resource discovery and access services.
