Abstract: The faunal associations of the uppermost Jurassic and Early Cretaceous Villar del Arzobispo, El Castellar, and Camarillas formations of the Spanish town of Galve (Maestrazgo Basin of the Iberian Range) are composed of more than fifty taxa belonging to Chondrichthyes, bony fishes, lissamphibians, mammals, and reptiles. Although the presence of turtles has been recognized in these three formations, being very abundant, the published information is limited. The detailed study of these turtles allows us to recognize at least nine taxa, several of them previously not identified in the Spanish record. These taxa correspond to stem Testudines (Solemydidae), members of Paracryptodira (Pleurosternidae), several representatives of Plesiochelyidae and taxa closely related with this clade, representatives of the stem group of Cryptodira (Xinjiangchelyidae) and members of crown Cryptodira. The chelonian fauna of Galve increases the systematic, anatomical, biostratigraphic, and paleobiogeographic knowledge on several clades, represented by taxa shared with other European regions, clades also present in Early Cretaceous sites of North America or Asia, as well as taxa exclusive of the Iberian record. Abstract: This paper includes a systematic reassessment of the Early Cretaceous (late Hauterivian–early Barremian) multituberculate fossils of Galve (Teruel, Spain), previously studied by Crusafont-Pairó and Adrover, and Crusafont-Pairó and Gibert in 1966 and 1976, respectively, as well the study of other unpublished specimens found in the revised collection of Institut Català de Paleontologia (ICP). We here include for the first time the emended descriptions and comparisons as well as the SEM photographs of all the specimens found in the collection and update the biostratigraphic data that they have provided. The multituberculate fossil assemblage from Galve comprises at least four taxa: the paulchoffatiid Galveodon nannothus, the eobaatarid Eobaatar hispanicus, another eobaatarid or a possible plagiaulacid, Iberica hahni gen. et sp. nov., and the pinheirodontid Lavocatia alfambrensis. The species Parendotherium herreroi has been removed from the multituberculate faunal list of Galve. Another two different taxa, provisionally classified as Paulchoffatiidae indet. and Plagiaulacidae or Eobaataridae indet. could be added to the list if their validity can be assessed once more specimen are found. The presence of more than four different “plagiaulacidan” multituberculate taxa in the late Hauterivian–early Barremian of the Galve area suggests a high biodiversity of these mammal faunas in the Early Cretaceous age of the Iberian Peninsula. Abstract: Since 1950, diverse assemblages of Mesozoic vertebrates have been described from the Galve area (Teruel Province, NE Spain). More than fifty taxa have been noted, including fishes, crocodyliforms, pterosaurs, dinosaurs and mammals. The Galve fossil sites occur in an Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous succession spanning some 30 myr, divided into five formations, representing marginal marine and continental settings, with a Tithonian–early Barremian regression and a transgression from the Barremian onwards. New discoveries include teeth of the hybodont shark Lonchidion microselachos, spinosaurine theropods, Eusauropoda and the dryosaurid Valdosaurus. The 30-myr succession shows some possible evolutionary shifts, with a predominance of sauropods as herbivores in older strata, and ornithopods commoner in younger beds. There are some possible replacements among mammals in the latter part of the succession, with trechnotheres, such as spalacotheriids and dryolestoids, dominant in the El Castellar Formation, and multituberculates in the Camarillas Formation. Matching of the vertebrates from the Galve succession with those from age-equivalent units throughout Europe shows close similarity with the Purbeck–Wealden succession of southern England, among others. There are many similarities with dinosaur faunas from North America and Africa, but continent-scale faunal differentiation had clearly begun. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Galve (Teruel, Spain) is not a single fossil site but an ensemble of more than 50 localities with Mesozoic terrestrial vertebrate remains of Tithonian-Lower Barremian age. Galve fossil sites belong to the Maestrazgo basin (Central Iberian Range), Gaive Subbasin, and appear in four geological formations: Higueruelas Formation (Tithonian), Villar del Arzobispo Formation (upper Tithonian-middle Berriasian), El Castellar Formation (uppermost Hauterivianlowermost Barremian) and Camarillas Formation (lower Barremian). Most sites contain bony remains, but there are also paleoichnological and paleoological sites, with dinosaur and other reptilian tracks and eggshells. Mammals and dinosaurs are the best-known Gaive vertebrates, but some studies on sharks, bony fishes, amphibians, squamates and crocodiles have been published. Some groups, like turtles and pterosaurs, have not practically been studied yet.

We describe five large ornithopod natural casts found in Galve (Teruel, Spain) during an exploration campaign. Some of these ornithopod footprints are the largest of the Lower Cretaceous in the east of the Iberian Peninsula. The casts support that there were big ornithopods in the Galve Basin during the Barremian age. The footprints, wich also provide information on the movement of the foot during the gait, are attributed to cf. Iguanodontipus. It is the second time that this type of track cites in the Teruel province

12. Concesión de ayuda de costa a Ricardo Bron, Terencio Ohagan y Andrés Frence, irlandeses
- Abstract

Important sites of direct and indirect dinosaur fossils can see in the Galve area. This paper shows the sauropod footprint structures found in a new ichnite outcrop in the Cabezo de San Cristobal. The tracksite is situtated in a sandstone of the Camarillas Formation (lower Barremian). It is the first time of the sauropod footprints are described in this Formation and therefore the latest from the Teruel province. In the mostly prints, the shaft base is a dead zone composed by a broken fragment of the sandstone level intruded several decimetres in deeper argillaceous sediments. Four of the five sauropod tracksites from Galve were made in a moment of waterlogged sediment in agreement with the cautious dinosaurs hypothesis

Villar del Arzobispo Formation ,Berriasian ,Tithonian ,Galve ,Dinosaurs - Abstract
The association of dinosaurs of the Villar del Arzobispo Formation in Galve (Teruel, Aragon, Spain) represents a «jurassic association» by the abundance of primitive clades like basal neosauropods and the scarcity of ornithopods. This fact could indicate the persistence of the Jurassic dinosaur faunas in this part of Laurasia, at least up to the Berriasian. Anyway the absence of stegosaurians could be interpreted as the first evidence of the turnover that would come in the Cretaceous faunas. Our data indicate that the climatic change did not suddenly affected to the dinosaurs of the Tethyan province. On the contrary, the turnover to the modern faunas took place gradually at least during the Berriasian

The Spanish town of Galve (Teruel) is notable because of the abundance of Upper Jurassic and, especially, Lower Cretaceous vertebrates recorded there. Although most groups have been studied in detail, information on turtles is very limited even though the material is relatively abundant. So far, no turtle taxa have been identified at the generic level. The only Lower Cretaceous articulated specimen from Galve is analysed here. It is identified as a representative of Cryptodira, Galvechelone lopezmartinezae gen. et sp. nov. Galvechelone lopezmartinezae is determined as a taxon belonging to the node that groups the turtles traditionally assigned to 'Macrobaenidae' and 'Sinemydidae', and other taxa such as the members of Panchelonioidea. This node, very abundant in the Lower Cretaceous of Asia, and with a broad subsequent distribution, has recently been recognized in the Lower Cretaceous of Europe. The diversity of basal members of Eucryptodira in the European Late Jurassic (represented by Thalassemydidae, Plesiochelyidae and Eurysternidae) was high. Owing to a relative scarcity of well-preserved early Cretaceous turtles from Europe, the knowledge of this group of reptiles is limited. The study of the new turtle from Galve, together with the recently described Hoyasemys jimenezi, and the recently completed review of the enigmatic Chitracephalus dumonii demonstrate that members of the cryptodiran node grouping 'Macrobaenidae', 'Sinemydidae' and Panchelonioidea were also very diverse in this period. The new outerop of Santa Bárbara (Galve, Province of Teruel, Spain, here provisionally considered as Barremian-Aptian in age) has yielded sorne autopodial pieces especially of the hind limbo There are a tibial distal portion, tarsus, metatarsal fragmenta and several phalanges of the three digits, especially of digit IV.
