Coherent control of single photon sources is a key requirement for the advancement of photonic quantum technologies. Among them, nanowire-based quantum dot sources are popular due to their potential for on-chip hybrid integration. Here we demonstrate on-demand single-photon generation ($g^{(2)}(0)(X^{*}) =0.078$ and $g^{(2)}(0)(X)= 0.03$) from resonantly excited InAsP/InP nanowire quantum dots and observe Rabi oscillations in the dot emission, indicating successful coherent manipulation of the excitonic states in the nanowire. We also measure a low emission time jitter for resonant excitation as compared to above-band excitation. This work addresses the long-standing challenge of resonantly exciting nanowire-quantum dots. It paves the way for hybrid quantum photonic integration, enabling spin-photon entanglement and matter memories on-chip.

An on-demand source of bright entangled photon pairs is desirable for quantum key distribution (QKD) and quantum repeaters. The leading candidate to generate entangled photon pairs is based on spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) in a non-linear crystal. However, there exists a fundamental trade-off between entanglement fidelity and efficiency in SPDC sources due to multiphoton emission at high brightness, which limits the pair extraction efficiency to 0.1% when operating at near-unity fidelity. Quantum dots in photonic nanostructures can in principle overcome this trade-off; however, the quantum dots that have achieved entanglement fidelities on par with SPDC sources (99%) have poor pair extraction efficiencies of 0.01%. Here, we demonstrate a 65-fold increase in the pair extraction efficiency compared to quantum dots with equivalent peak fidelity from an InAsP quantum dot in a photonic nanowire waveguide. We measure a raw peak concurrence and fidelity of 95.3% $\pm$ 0.5% and 97.5% $\pm$ 0.8%, respectively. Finally, we show that an oscillating two-photon Bell state generated by a semiconductor quantum dot can be utilized to establish a secure key for QKD, alleviating the need to remove the quantum dot energy splitting of the intermediate exciton states in the biexciton-exciton cascade., Comment: 24 pages (7 main body, excluding references plus 14 supplemental information) and 4 main body figures

We present a device independent analysis of controlled quantum teleportation where the receiver is not trusted. We show that the notion of genuine tripartite nonlocality allows us to certify control power in such a scenario. By considering a specific adversarial attack strategy on a device characterized by depolarizing noise, we find that control power is a monotonically increasing function of genuine tripartite nonlocality. These results are relevant for building practical quantum communication networks and also shed light on the role of nonlocality in multipartite quantum information processing.

We show that currently available noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) computers can be used for versatile quantum simulations of chaotic systems. We introduce a novel classical-quantum hybrid approachfor exploring the dynamics of the chaotic quantum kicked top (QKT) on a universal quantum computer. The programmability of this approach allows us to experimentally explore the complete range of QKT chaoticity parameter regimes inaccessible to previous studies. Furthermore, the number of gates in our simulation does not increase with the number of kicks, thus making it possible to study the QKT evolution for arbitrary number of kicks without fidelity loss. Using a publicly accessible NISQ computer (IBMQ), we observe periodicities in the evolution of the 2-qubit QKT, as well as signatures of chaos in the time-averaged 2-qubit entanglement. We also demonstrate a connection between entanglement and delocalization in the 2-qubit QKT, confirming theoretical predictions.

A comprehensive treatment of the quantification of randomness certified device-independently by using the Hardy and Cabello-Liang-Li (CLL) nonlocality relations is provided in the two parties - two measurements per party - two outcomes per measurement (2-2-2) scenario. For the Hardy nonlocality, it is revealed that for a given amount of nonlocality signified by a particular non-zero value of the Hardy parameter, the amount of Hardy-certifiable randomness is not unique, unlike the way the amount of certifiable randomness is related to the CHSH nonlocality. This is because any specified non-maximal value of Hardy nonlocality parameter characterises a set of quantum extremal distributions. Then this leads to a range of certifiable amounts of randomness corresponding to a given Hardy parameter. On the other hand, for a given amount of CLL-nonlocality, the certifiable randomness is unique, similar to that for the CHSH nonlocality. Furthermore, the tightness of our analytical treatment evaluating the respective guaranteed bounds for the Hardy and CLL relations is demonstrated by their exact agreement with the Semi-Definite-Programming based computed bounds. Interestingly, the analytically evaluated maximum achievable bounds of both Hardy and CLL-certified randomness have been found to be realisable for non-maximal values of the Hardy and CLL nonlocality parameters. In particular, we have shown that even close to the maximum 2 bits of CLL-certified randomness can be realised from non-maximally entangled pure two-qubit states corresponding to small values of the CLL nonlocal parameter. This paper demonstrates the use of entanglement resources in quantum speedup by presenting an algorithm which is the generalization of an algorithm proposed by Goswami and Panigrahi [arXiv:1706.09489 (2017)]. We generalize the algorithm and show that it provides deterministic solutions having an advantage over classical algorithm. The algorithm answers the question of whether a given function is constant or balanced and whether two functions are equal or unequal. Finally, we experimentally verify the algorithm by using IBM's five-qubit quantum computer with a high fidelity., Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures
