Objective To assess the effectiveness and safety of prone positioning in the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS) using invasive respiratory support. Methods A prospective study was conducted from June 2020 to September 2023 at Suining County People's Hospital, involving 77 preterm infants with gestational ages less than 35 weeks requiring invasive respiratory support for NRDS. The infants were randomly divided into a supine group (37 infants) and a prone group (40 infants). Infants in the prone group were ventilated in the prone position for 6 hours followed by 2 hours in the supine position, continuing in this cycle until weaning from the ventilator. The effectiveness and safety of the two approaches were compared. Results At 6 hours after enrollment, the prone group showed lower arterial blood carbon dioxide levels, inspired oxygen concentration, oxygenation index, rates of tracheal intubation bacterial colonization, and Neonatal Pain, Agitation and Sedation Scale scores compared to the supine group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of pH, arterial oxygen pressure, positive endexpiratory pressure, duration of mechanical ventilation, accidental extubation, ventilator-associated pneumonia, air leak syndrome, skin pressure sores, feeding intolerance, and grades II-IV intraventricular hemorrhage (P>0.05). Conclusions Compared to supine positioning, prone ventilation effectively improves oxygenation, increases comfort, and reduces tracheal intubation bacterial colonization in neonates requiring mechanical ventilation for NRDS, without significantly increasing adverse reactions. Objective To study the in vitro expression of three phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) mutants (p.R243Q, p.R241C, and p.Y356X) and determine their pathogenicity. Methods Bioinformatics techniques were used to predict the impact of PAH mutants on the structure and function of PAH protein. Corresponding mutant plasmids of PAH were constructed and expressed in HEK293T cells. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was used to measure the mRNA expression levels of the three PAH mutants, and their protein levels were assessed using Western blot and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results Bioinformatics analysis predicted that all three mutants were pathogenic. The mRNA expression levels of the p.R243Q and p.R241C mutants in HEK293T cells were similar to the mRNA expression level of the wild-type control (P>0.05), while the mRNA expression level of the p.Y356X mutant significantly decreased (P<0.05). The PAH protein expression levels of all three mutants were significantly reduced compared to the wild-type control (P<0.05). The extracellular concentration of PAH protein was reduced in the p.R241C and p.Y356X mutants compared to the wild-type control (P<0.05), while there was no significant difference between the p.R243Q mutant and the wild type control (P>0.05). Conclusions p.R243Q, p.R241C and p.Y356X mutants lead to reduced expression levels of PAH protein in eukaryotic cells, with p.R241C and p.Y356X mutants also affecting the function of PAH protein. Room Temperature vibration fatigue S-N curves of single crystal superalloy DD6 with[001] orientation was investigated and room temperature vibration fatigue limit was obtained. The fracture mechanism was studied by OM, SEM and EBSD. The results show that based on S-N method, vibration fatigue limit of DD6 single crystal superalloy with[001] orientation is estimated to be around 337.5MPa. Vibration fatigue fracture presents single or several {111} octahedral slip planes. SEM observations show that fracture has two regions:fatigue source region and the fatigue crack propagation regions, the fatigue cracks initiate at the surface or internal defect of the cross-section with the maximum stress, and exhibits a single source feature, fatigue crack propagation region exhibits quasi-cleavage fracture, no typical fatigue striation feature. Crystal plane slip along {111} is the main deformation mechanism of RT vibration fatigue fracture of single crystal superalloy DD6, quasi-cleavage propagation plane in fracture and quasi-cleavage patterns in microstructure are the main features of RT vibration fatigue fracture of single crystal superalloy DD6.

Here, we have theoretically proposed an ideal structure of selective solar absorber with multilayer planar films, which can absorb the incident light throughout the entire solar spectrum (300–2500 nm) and over a wide angular range, whatever the polarization angle of 0°~90°. The efficiency of the proposed absorber is proven by the Finite-Difference Time Domain (FDTD) simulation. The average absorption rate over the solar spectrum is up to 96.6%. The planar design is extremely easy to fabricate and modify, and this structure does not require lithographic processes to finish the absorbers. Improvements of the solar absorber on the basis of planar multilayer-film structures is attributed to multiple asymmetric highly lossy Fabry–Perot resonators. Because of having many virtues, such as using different refractory and non-noble metals, having angle and polarization independence, and having ideal absorption for entire solar spectrum, our proposed absorbers are promising candidates for practical industrial production of the solar-energy harvesting.

A self-supported electrode was designed and prepared for the first time with CeO2 nanoparticles decorated on porous Ni–Fe bimetallic phosphide nanosheets, which were grown on high-conductivity Ni foam. Owing to the strong electronic interactions between the heterostructure interfaces and the introduction of oxygen vacancies, such an electrode displays outstanding oxygen evolution reaction performance with an overpotential of 188 mV at 10 mA cm–2 and the electrolyzer using the electrode as both cathode and anode exhibits a cell voltage of 1.54 V at 10 mA cm–2. The oxygen vacancy engineering strategy was easily achieved by electrodeposition of CeO2 and it can be extended to the design of other high-efficient and low-cost electrocatalysts. Background Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) represent a severe public health problem. Methods In a tertiary hospital in northern China, 169 non-duplicated clinical CRE strains were analyzed by species identification, in vitro antibiotics sensitivity test, carbapenemase gene detection and genetic sequence typing. Results The CRE strains showed high resistance to most clinical antimicrobials. Enterobacter cloacae and Escherichia coli isolates mainly carried blaNDM , and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates mainly carried blakpc. ST11 was the most common type in Klebsiella pneumoniae , and ST70 was the new emerging sequence type (ST) in Enterobacter cloacae. Conclusions The CRE strains isolated in northern China showed multidrug-resistant phenotypes, and the new emergence of ST70 Enterobacter cloacae should be closely supervised. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Exploring and developing high‐efficiency electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is desirable yet challenging for cost‐effective transformation of renewable electricity into fuels and chemicals. Herein, a self‐supported electrode of nanoflower‐like Ce‐modified Ni(OH)2 grown on high‐conductivity NiSe2 octahedra nanoparticles is designed and fabricated for the first time. By virtue of i) the high conductivity of the NiSe2 support for favorable electron transfer; ii) the open porous structure from the nanoflower‐like Ce‐modified Ni(OH)2 for beneficial mass transport; iii) Ce doping for efficiently optimizing the energetics for OER intermediates based on density functional theory simulations; and iv) Ce(OH)3 embedding for efficacious oxygen ion exchange and electronic transmission, the electrode exhibits remarkable OER activity with a very low overpotential of 158 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and Tafel slope of 27 mV dec−1, which outperform almost all OER electrocatalysts.
