Abstract

The exceptional electronic, thermal, optical and mechanical properties of graphene make it ideal for the next generation of electronic and optoelectronic devices. So, it is particularly important to research and develop high-quality, large-scale and low-cost technology of graphene preparation. Electrochemical exfoliation of graphite has emerged as a promising wet chemical approach with advantages such as scalability, solution processability and eco-friendliness. In this paper, research progress of preparation of graphene by electrochemical method was reviewed. The effects of anodic oxidation and cathodic intercalation of graphite on the yield, morphology, quality and defect level of graphene were emphatically described, and the exfoliation mechanisms of the two processes were briefly summarized. Moreover, the preparation and application of functionalized graphene by electrochemical approach were introduced. Finally, it was pointed out that the future development direction of electrochemical preparation of graphene is the design of electrolyte system, optimization of exfoliation conditions, understanding of the exfoliation mechanism, rational design of electrochemical cells.

Abstract

The toxicity and bioaccumulation of selenite in four microalgae,Spirulina platensis, Dunaliella salina, Dunaliella bardawill andPhaeodactylum tricornutum cultured in the presence of selenite were investigated. Lower concentrations of selenite were generally nontoxic and frequently stimulated algal growth, while higher concentrations of selenite inhibited algal growth. Selenite was more toxic toD. salina andD. bardawill than toS. platensis andP. Tricornutum. All algae cultured in selenite were able to incorporate Se to different degrees, which depended on algal species. The distributions of selenite among intracellular macromolecular compounds were different among algal species: most of the selenite was associated with proteins inS. platensis, D. salina andD. bardawill, while most of the selenite was associated with lipids inP. tricornutum, which reflected the physiological differences among the algae. These observations suggest that algae are able to accumulate selenite and bind it with intracellular macromolecular compounds when exposed to high concentration of selenite. This may represent a form of storage or detoxification of selenite by the algae.

Abstract

An improved shape description using Radon transform is presented. As shown in the experiments for MPEG-7 shape database, the improved Radon composite features descriptor not only has rotation, scaling and translation invariance (RST), but also has better performance in image retrieval than Radon composite features (RCFs) and some well-known approaches such as Zernike moments and Gabor Filters. Phytoplankton is as one of important indication to the ocean ecosystem, the application of the improved Radon composite features in phytoplankton identification system is also shown in this paper.

Abstract

This paper develops a gear shifting dynamics simulation system of a typical automatic transmission based on Matlab/Simulink. Several simulation technology problems due to modeling methodology are discussed and solved mainly. The simulation system can be used to analyze the dynamic characteristic of automatic transmission during gear shifting, and can be used for shift controller development.

The proper ferroelastic phase transitions of tetragonal crystal classes, 422,andare investigated by the method of three dimensional slowness surfaces. There are three types of slowness surfaces for the four classes stated above. The elastic constants,andhave relations with the classification of slowness surfaces and the ferroelastic phase transitions.
