Although the European Union has had to face a multitude of crises since its origins, in the last four years it has had to resist the challenge of two crises that, even though they have not had an economic origin, have resulted in two economic crises that have had repercussions on the different Member States. In this regard, the objective of this research would be to analyze the impact that economic crisis situations can have on the communication of the European Union, basing this analysis on the State of the EU Speeches delivered annually in front of the European Parliament by the President of the European Commission. To that end, use will be made of the latest version of the linguistic analysis program Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC), increasingly used in the field of political communication analysis and whose use would contribute to opening new lines of research., Si bien la Unión Europea ha tenido que hacer frente a multitud de crisis desde sus orígenes, en los últimos cuatro años ha tenido que resistir el envite de dos crisis que, aun cuando no han tenido un origen económico, han derivado en sendas crisis económicas que han repercutido en los diferentes Estados Miembros. A este respecto, el objetivo de la presente investigación es analizar el impacto que pueden tener las situaciones de crisis económica en la comunicación de la Unión Europea, sustentando dicho análisis en los Discursos sobre el estado de la UE que se pronuncian anualmente ante el Parlamento Europeo por parte de la Presidencia de la Comisión Europea. Para ello, se hará uso de la última versión del programa de análisis lingüístico Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC), crecientemente empleado en el ámbito de análisis de comunicación política y cuyo uso contribuiría a abrir nuevas líneas de investigación.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder whose prevalence has steadily been rising over the years. Specialist neurologists across the world assess and diagnose patients with PD, although the diagnostic process is time-consuming and various symptoms take years to appear, which means that the diagnosis is prone to human error. The partial automatization of PD assessment and diagnosis through computational processes has therefore been considered for some time. One well-known tool for PD assessment is finger tapping (FT), which can now be assessed through computer vision (CV). Artificial intelligence and related advances over recent decades, more specifically in the area of CV, have made it possible to develop computer systems that can help specialists assess and diagnose PD. This work studies the most probable spatial origin of demersal species that eventually reach the Ibiza Channel after a dispersion stage, a region where water masses with different characteristics choke. Demersal species are assumed to be in a planktonic stage in which they behave as passive particles, being only advected by the dominant ocean currents. To find the origin we have performed a set of backward Lagrangian simulations using a high-resolution model of currents. As a result, we obtain the preferred pathways of dispersion for demersal species. A careful analysis of pathways provides useful information on the spatiotemporal variability of demersal and their origin weeks ago before they reach the Ibiza Channel. This information is very valuable from a conservation standpoint to determine the key regions that should be protected as eggs and larvae exportation areas., Peer Reviewed

© The Author(s) 2023, A comprehensive view of disease epidemics demands a deep understanding of the complex interplay between human behaviour and infectious diseases. Here, we propose a flexible modelling framework that brings conclusions about the influence of human mobility and disease transmission on early epidemic growth, with applicability in outbreak preparedness. We use random matrix theory to compute an epidemic threshold, equivalent to the basic reproduction number R0, for a SIR metapopulation model. The model includes both systematic and random features of human mobility. Background: Adequate eHealth literacy levels empower people to make informed decisions, enhancing their autonomy. The current study assessed a group using primary care services for their eHealth literacy and examined its relationship with sociodemographic characteristics. Methods: Adult patients in need of primary care nursing services participated in this cross-sectional study, which was carried out in a healthcare center in the Madrid region of Spain. Through systematic random sampling, 166 participants were chosen for the study. The eHealth Literacy Questionnaire was used to assess eHealth literacy (eHLQ). Results: The studied population showed higher eHealth literacy scores in dimensions 2 (“understanding of health concepts and language”) and 4 (“feel safe and in control”); the lowest scores were recorded for dimensions 1 (“using technology to process health information”), 3 (“ability to actively engage with digital services”), and 7 (“digital services that suit individual needs”). People with completed secondary education and a better-perceived health status who were younger and employed showed a higher level of eHealth literacy. Conclusions: The findings advance our knowledge of the variables affecting eHealth literacy. Background: Health literacy enhances a population’s self-care capacity and helps to reduce health inequalities. This work examines the health literacy of a population attending primary care services and explores its relationship with sociodemographic factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study, conducted at a healthcare center in the Madrid region (Spain), involved adult patients requiring primary care nursing services. One hundred and sixty-six participants were recruited via systematic random sampling. Health literacy was measured using the Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLQ). Results: The studied population showed higher health literacy scores for literacy dimensions 1 (feeling understood and supported by healthcare providers) and 4 (social support for health); the lowest scores were recorded for dimensions 5 (appraisal of health information) and 8 (ability to find good health information). People with a better perceived health status showed a higher level of health literacy. People over 65 years of age, those with an incomplete secondary education, and those who were unemployed returned lower scores for several literacy dimensions. Conclusions: The results contribute to our understanding of the factors that influence health literacy. Este proyecto ha tenido como objetivo principal la construcción de un robot capaz de jugar autónomamente al conocido juego 2048. Se puede desglosar el trabajo en dos grandes partes: una de software y una de hardware. En lo que respecta a la primera, se ha realizado un análisis inicial de diversos aspectos del juego y se ha comparado distintos métodos de resolución, principalmente minimax, expectimax y redes neuronales. De todos estos métodos se han propuesto multitud de variantes en las que se han añadido diversas características como, por ejemplo, las distintas heurísticas para evaluar los nodos del árbol de búsqueda en los métodos minimax y expectimax o distintas arquitecturas en el caso de las redes neuronales. En cuanto al hardware, se ha construido un robot ideado para ser posicionado delante de la pantalla de un ordenador con el juego abierto e interaccionar con el ordenador, dando las órdenes de movimiento a través del puerto USB. El robot incorpora una placa Raspberry Pi 4, una placa Pro Micro ATmega32u4, una cámara y componentes de soporte, todo ello, dentro de una carcasa hecha a partir de modelado e impresión 3D., The main objective of this project was the construction of a robot capable of autonomously playing the well-known game 2048. The work has two main parts: software and hardware. Regarding the first, an initial analysis of various aspects of the game has been carried out and different resolution methods have been compared, mainly minimax, expectimax and neural networks. Many variants of all these methods have been proposed in which various features have been added, such as, for example, the different heuristics to evaluate the nodes of the search tree in the minimax and expectimax methods or different architectures in the case of neural networks. For the hardware, a robot has been built and designed to be positioned in front of a computer screen with the game open and interact with the computer, giving movement orders through the USB port. The robot incorporates a Raspberry Pi 4 board, a Pro Micro ATmega32u4 board, a camera and supporting components, all inside a 3D modelled and printed case.
