O objetivo principal do trabalho é analisar o perfil e as características do comércio exterior paranaense nos dois primeiros decênios do século XXI, buscando compreender modificações estruturais e padrões de comportamento desse comércio. A metodologia do trabalho contempla procedimentos qualitativos, mas principalmente os descritivos e quantitativos, em decorrência da ampla disponibilidade de dados e indicadores sobre o assunto no Ipardes. Esses dados foram coletados, sistematizados em tabelas e posteriormente analisados. Os resultados mostram que o Paraná é um grande importador de bens manufaturados (de maior sofisticação), e que a partir do segundo decênio do século XXI, se consolidou como um grande exportador de bens primários. Na primeira década do século XXI, o cenário era diferente, com uma participação média superior de bens manufaturados. Isso indica que o estado está passando pelo processo de reprimarização. Além disso, destaca-se a estreita relação do Paraná com a China, que vem se tornando o principal parceiro comercial do estado, tanto em exportações quanto em importações.

IntroductionNon-native species are widely recognized as threats to biodiversity, ecosystems, and the services they provide to humans. The Mediterranean Sea has a high biodiversity of endemic species and is a hot spot of biological invasions. One of the most recent threats to Mediterranean ecosystems is the invasion of the Atlantic blue crab Callinectes sapidus.MethodsThe occurrences of the crab throughout the Mediterranean coastline were indexed from citizen science through the Global Biodiversity Information Facility. Using spatial analysis and linear mixed models, we investigated geomorphology (i.e., water depth and coastal wetlands extension), water physical variables (i.e., salinity and winter and summer water temperature), water quality variables (i.e., chlorophyll-a, nitrate and orthophosphate) and anthropogenic factors (i.e., ship density and population size) potentially affecting the blue crab occurrence along the coast.ResultsOur results showed that nitrate, as an indicator of riverine nutrient loading, and water depth, as an indicator of slope of the bottom, were the most influential variables in explaining the occurrences of blue crabs. Water temperature and salinity had lesser impacts; anthropogenic factors, such as the density of commercial marine traffic and human population size had no effect on blue crab occurrence.DiscussionThese results sug gest that benthic primary production and shallow water drive blue crab occurrences along the Mediterranean coasts. Even considering data limitations and gaps, our large-scale findings contribute to a broader understanding of the factors that drive blue crab invasion success which, in turn, can inform management actions and outline research needs.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the association between sociodemographic characteristics, level of perceived stress and resilience with family functioning of immigrants in Brazil. Method: Cross-sectional study with 122 immigrants living in a municipality in southern Brazil. Data collected in 2021, using questions for characterization, Family Cohesion and Adaptability, Resilience and Perceived Stress Assessment Scale. Data were analyzed in SPSS®, using descriptive and analytical measures (Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and post-hoc tests with Bonferroni correction). Results: The immigrants were between 18 and 69 years old (average 35.6 years ± 12.0), the majority were female, Venezuelan, with up to eight years of education, family income of one minimum wage, lived in a rented house and had been in Brazil for more than two years. Half had a partner and 18.9% immigrated alone. Family cohesion was associated with marital status, age, education, number of residents and who they came to Brazil with; adaptability with length of stay, who came to Brazil with, number of residents and religion. Greater perceived stress occurred in disconnected families (with less cohesion) and more resilience in connected, agglutinated (with greater cohesion) and rigid (more adapted) families. Conclusion: Sociodemographic characteristics, level of perceived stress and resilience influenced the family functioning of immigrants.

O artigo trata da conclusão do ensino fundamental como direito de todas as pessoas, dever do Estado e condição de acesso à etapa final da educação básica (Brasil, 2006). Parte de dados cedidos pela Secretaria Municipal de Educação de São Paulo sobre turmas de concluintes de 2018 a 2021, de quatro regionais, abordados quanti-qualitativamente, com algumas informações em cotejamento com as dos demais. Os resultados evidenciam que: o público da educação especial - PEE representa cerca de 3% do total de matrículas; no período analisado predominaram matrículas da categoria deficiência intelectual, seguida por autismo; com exceção de 2019, o acesso as salas de recursos multifuncionais são inferiores a 12% do PEE; a média das idades do PEE é ligeiramente superior à do conjunto de egressas/os. Os dados indicam a necessidade de constante acompanhamento da mobilidade das matrículas e das trajetórias estudantis para avaliar o cumprimento do direito inalienável à educação.

Introduzione: L’accesso alla cura del dolore è riconosciuto come un diritto umano fondamentale, sancito dalla Legge 38/2010 e supportato dai codici deontologici dei professionisti sanitari. Il dolore, definito dall'International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) come un'esperienza sensoriale ed emotiva spiacevole legata a un danno reale o potenziale, diventa cronico quando persiste oltre tre mesi, compromettendo qualità della vita e prognosi clinica. L’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS) ha recentemente promosso un approccio multidisciplinare per il dolore cronico pediatrico, che integra interventi fisici, psicologici e farmacologici, a causa dell’alto tasso di prevalenza di dolore in età pediatrica, che colpisce fino al 46% dei bambini e adolescenti. Tuttavia, studi recenti indicano carenze nelle competenze degli operatori sanitari sul dolore cronico pediatrico e la necessità di aggiornare la formazione professionale e di esplorare ulteriori approcci non farmacologici per migliorarne la gestione. Obiettivi: Esplorare le percezioni e le aspettative degli operatori sanitari riguardo l'approccio multidisciplinare nella gestione del dolore cronico pediatrico e identificare aree di miglioramento per ottimizzare le pratiche riabilitative. Metodi: Lo studio ha adottato un design qualitativo, basato sulla tecnica del Focus Group e interviste non strutturate, seguendo le linee guida Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ). Sei professionisti della riabilitazione pediatrica, con almeno 10 anni di esperienza, sono stati coinvolti per esplorare la gestione multidisciplinare del dolore cronico. Risultati: Il coinvolgimento della famiglia (30%), l'approccio multidisciplinare (25%) e il modello biopsicosociale (20%) sono stati indicati come fondamentali nella gestione del dolore cronico pediatrico. È emersa l'importanza della prevenzione delle complicazioni fisiche e del miglioramento della qualità della vita del bambino. Discussione: I risultati confermano l'importanza di un approccio olistico e multidisciplinare nella gestione del dolore cronico pediatrico. Tuttavia, sono emerse alcune criticità, come il limitato coinvolgimento precoce dei professionisti della riabilitazione e la necessità di un coordinamento migliore tra le diverse figure professionali. Conclusioni: Lo studio evidenzia che un approccio multidisciplinare e personalizzato è fondamentale nella gestione del dolore cronico pediatrico. Pur confermando l'efficacia dell'approccio olistico, i risultati rivelano la necessità di un coordinamento più efficiente tra professionisti e di un coinvolgimento tempestivo dei riabilitatori. Studi futuri con campioni più ampi potrebbero validare le conclusioni e perfezionare le raccomandazioni per un'efficace gestione del dolore cronico nei pazienti pediatrici.

Background: Access to pain care is recognized as a fundamental human right, ratified by Law 38/2010 and supported by the professional codes of conduct for healthcare practitioners. Pain, defined by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. It becomes chronic when it persists beyond three months, affecting quality of life and clinical prognosis. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently promoted a multidisciplinary approach for pediatric chronic pain, integrating physical, psychological, and pharmacological interventions, given the high prevalence of pain in pediatric populations, affecting up to 46% of children and adolescents. However, recent studies highlight gaps in healthcare providers’ competencies in managing pediatric chronic pain, and the need to update professional training and explore further non-pharmacological approaches to improve its management. Objectives: To explore healthcare professionals’ perceptions and expectations regarding the multidisciplinary approach to chronic pediatric pain, and identify areas for improvement to optimise rehabilitative practices. Methods: The study adopted a qualitative design, utilizing the Focus Group technique and unstructured interviews, following Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) guidelines. Six pediatric rehabilitation professionals, each with at least 10 years of experience, were involved to investigate the multidisciplinary management of chronic pain. Results: Family involvement (30%), the multidisciplinary approach (25%), and the biopsychosocial model (20%) were identified as key elements in the management of pediatric chronic pain. The importance of preventing physical complications and improving the child’s quality of life also emerged. Discussion: The results confirm the importance of a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to managing pediatric chronic pain. However, some critical issues emerged, such as the limited early involvement of rehabilitation professionals and the need for better coordination between different healthcare professionals. Conclusions: The study highlights that a multidisciplinary and personalized approach is crucial in the management of pediatric chronic pain. While confirming the efficacy of the holistic approach, the results reveal the need for more efficient coordination between professionals and early involvement of rehabilitation specialists. Future studies with larger samples could validate the findings and refine recommendations for effective chronic pain management in pediatric patients.

The Atlantic Forest is a global biodiversity hotspot and a significant provider of ecosystem services to 65% of the Brazilian population. Due to being highly threatened, it is protected by federal law 11,428/2006, which establishes forest use restrictions based on native vegetation successional stages in the Atlantic Forest, with more advanced stages receiving more protection. The classification parameters are established at the state level. However, the parameters employed to classify forest fragments in different successional stages are subjective and imprecise, negatively impacting environmental permitting and related offset policies. Here, we critically assessed the major limitations in applying the 11,428/2006 law and presented alternatives for establishing a more transparent, applicable, legally safe, and effective protocol for identifying the conservation value of forest fragments. We also highlight problems related to sampling, indicators, and methodologies and present guidelines for revising the parameters for applying the Atlantic Forest law and associated state-level resolutions. We suggest an inclusive two-step analysis based on vegetation structure, forest cover history, biodiversity, ecosystem services (social), and landscape indicators. By employing a more technological approach and transferring part of the assessment responsibility to the state-level environmental agencies instead of allowing self-declared reports by landowners, our proposal focuses on the potential for evaluating ecological integrity among different successional classes by forest types. As nearly 90% of the remaining Brazilian Atlantic Forest is located within private lands, improving this legal instrument is essential for protecting the vulnerable biodiversity of this unique and threatened biome.

Glioblastoma is the most common form of brain cancer in adults, representing 35–40% of all malignant brain tumors. This highly aggressive malignancy originates in the central nervous system, and despite notable advancements in treatment strategies, it continues to be an incurable disease. The isolation of circulating tumor cells (CTC) at an early stage is challenging due to the low probability of their presence in peripheral blood. Detection and enumeration as early as possible can reportedly lead to more effective treatment. This study proposes a novel label-free, rapid, and continuous CTC separation device based on a lateral filter array microfluidic device for the highly efficient immunoaffinity isolation of CTCs. Our methodology successfully captured and isolated circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from the whole blood of glioblastoma (GBM) patients prior to surgery, achieving over 90% capture efficiency in under 40 min of analysis. These findings highlight the potential of this technology to enhance our understanding of the clinical significance of CTCs in the management of GBM in future research.

Explosões atômicas e radiações – os grandes temores da Guerra Fria repropostos com frequência pela literatura e pelo cinema – são temas deste ensaio inspirado pela leitura de Burning conscience (1989; [1961]), coletânea de cartas trocadas entre o filósofo Günther Anders e Claude Eatherly, um dos pilotos responsáveis pela destruição de Hiroshima. Revisito as reflexões de Elsa Morante, João Guimarães Rosa, Albert Camus e Günther Anders, entre outros, sobre as ligações entre tecnologia de guerra e mutações da “alma” humana. A parte central do texto concentra-se na troca de cartas entre Anders e Eatherly e analisa características estilísticas e temáticas dessa correspondência. A parte final do ensaio propõe alguns pontos de reflexão (sobre retórica nacionalista, o tema da guerra na educação, testemunho dos vitimários e tema do perdão) instigados pela leitura de Burning conscience.

We report the case of a young male patient who presented to our emergency department complaining of a transient headache and a feeling of motor impairment in his right lower limb, both of which completely resolved spontaneously. After a few minutes of his arrival, he developed a locked-in sensation with anxiety and agitation, followed by a rapid onset of left facio-brachio-crural hemisyndrome. Contrast-enhanced CT of the brain and neck showed the occlusion of the proximal-intermediate basilar artery. Acute basilar artery occlusion (BAO) is a rare life-threatening stroke that requires prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment to avoid rapid fatal complications (coma and death). The prognosis is poor, with long-lasting sequelae in the survivors. The diagnosis is often difficult since BAO accounts for only 1% of all strokes, and the prodromal symptoms are often very mild, transient, and non-specific, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, confusion, and vertigo. In the presence of convulsion-like symptoms or an unexplained altered level of consciousness, emergency physicians should always consider BAO in the differential diagnosis.

Resumo Esta pesquisa, exploratória e de análise documental, mapeou os critérios de elegibilidade à política de cotas do Sistema de Seleção Unificada (Sisu), para estudantes com deficiência, estabelecidos por 62 universidades federais. Foram analisados os editais e os termos de adesão dos processos seletivos de 2019, a partir dos fundamentos do modelo social de deficiência, da Convenção sobre os direitos da pessoa com deficiência e da Lei Brasileira de Inclusão (LBI). Os resultados indicam que as normas se alinham ao modelo médico e desconsideram a concepção da Convenção e da LBI. Apesar de ser um processo unificado, há significativas diferenças nos critérios e exigências para a comprovação da deficiência em cada universidade, o que pode concorrer para a fragilização da política e da segurança jurídica aos candidatos.
