The ever-increasing environmental/energy crisis as well as the rapid upgrading of mobile devices had stimulated intensive research attention on promising alternative energy storage and conversion devices. Among these devices, alkali metal ion batteries, such as lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) had attracted increasing research attention due to its several advantages including, environmental friendliness, high power density, long cycle life and excellent reversibility. It had been widely used in consumer electronics, electric vehicles, and large power grids et ac. Silicon-based (silicon and their oxides, carbides) anodes had been widely studied. Its several advantages including low cost, high theoretical capacity, natural abundance, and environmental friendliness, which shows great potential as anodes of LIBs. In this review, we summarized the recently progress in the synthetic method of silicon matrix composites. The empirical method for prelithiation of silicon-based materials were also provided. Further, we also reviewed some novel characterization methods. Finally, the new design, preparation methods and properties of these nano materials were reviewed and compared. We hoped that this review can provide a general overview of recent progress and we briefly highlighted the current challenges and prospects, and will clarify the future trend of silicon anode LIBs research.

Infrared-to-visible upconverters converting low-energy infrared to higher-energy visible light without bringing in complicated readout integrated circuits have triggered enormous excitement. However, existing upconverters suffer from limited sensing wavelengths, low photon-to-photon (p-p) efficiency, and high minimum detectable infrared power. Here, we reported the colloidal quantum-dot (CQD) upconverters with unprecedented performance. By using HgTe CQDs as the sensing layer, the operation spectral ranges of the upconverters are, for the first time, extended to short-wave infrared. More importantly, the resistance-area products of the HgTe CQD photodetectors are carefully optimized by interface engineering to match with the visible light-emitting diodes so that the quantum efficiency and sensitivity of upconverters can be maximized. The integrated upconverters demonstrate a high p-p efficiency of nearly 30% and a low detection limit down to 20 μW cm

As a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, environmental exposure to phenanthrene is widespread worldwide. The potential effects and mechanism of phenanthrene exposure on fasting plasma glucose (FPG) have not been well determined. In this study, we aim to explore the effects of phenanthrene exposure and AMER3 variants on fasting plasma glucose (FPG) through a longitudinal epidemiological study. Repeated measurements of five urinary hydroxyphenanthrene (OHPh) for 5739 participants with 7083 observations from the Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort were performed to analyze the relationships between total OHPh (ΣOHPh) and FPG using linear mixed models and restricted cubic spline functions. Then, we genotyped 2777 participants (4104 observations) using the Infinium OmniZhongHua-8 BeadChip and included all 14 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the AMER3 gene to analyze the interaction of the AMER3 on the relationship between ΣOHPh and FPG. We observed a U-shaped relationship between ΣOHPh and FPG, and the turning point of ΣOHPh was 2.512 μg/mmol Cr. When lower than the turning point, ΣOHPh was negatively associated with FPG, while higher than the turning point, ΣOHPh was positively associated with FPG. Furthermore, we observed interactions (P

1-bromopropane is a US Environmental Protection Agency-identified significant hazardous air pollutant with concerned adverse respiratory effect. We aimed to investigate the relationship between 1-bromopropane exposure and pulmonary function and the underlying role of oxidative damage, which all remain unknown. Pulmonary function and urinary biomarkers of 1-bromopropane exposure (N-Acetyl-S-(n-propyl)-L-cysteine, BPMA) and oxidative damage to DNA (8-hydroxy-deoxyguanosine, 8-OHdG) and lipid (8-iso-prostaglandin-F2α, 8-iso-PGF2α) were measured for 3259 Chinese urban adults from the Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort. The cross-sectional relationship of BPMA with pulmonary function and the joint relationship of BPMA and 8-OHdG or 8-iso-PGF2α with pulmonary function were investigated by linear mixed models. The mediating roles of 8-OHdG and 8-iso-PGF2α were evaluated by mediation analysis. Additionally, a panel of 138 subjects was randomly convened from the same cohort to evaluate the stability of BPMA repeatedly measured in urine samples collected over consecutive three days and intervals of one, two, and three years, and to estimate the longitudinal relationship of BPMA with pulmonary function change in three years. Atmospheric PM2.5-bound metals have been widely addressed, but research on the exposure levels and sources of personal PM2.5-bound metals among urban community residents is limited. The aim of this study is to explore the exposure levels and sources of 24-h personal PM2.5-bound metals among community inhabitants in Wuhan, China. We conducted a penal study of 216 observations with measurements of 16 metals bounded to 24-h personal PM2.5 samples in April-May, 2014, 2017. Analyses of covariance were used to compare PM2.5-bound metal levels across different living habits and ambient conditions. Principal component analysis (PCA) with varimax rotation was performed to explore PM2.5-bound metal sources. Personal PM2.5-bound aluminum (Al) (113.41 ng/m3) showed the highest geometric mean (GM) concentration, followed by lead (Pb) (90.89 ng/m3), zinc (Zn) (67.71 ng/m3), and iron (Fe) (51.85 ng/m3). The elevated levels of PM2.5-bound Al, vanadium (V), manganese (Mn), arsenic (As), rubidium (Rb), cadmium (Cd), and thallium (Tl) were found in participants with cigarette smoke exposure, compared with those without. The concentrations of Rb and strontium (Sr) were positively associated with the time spent outdoors. The increased concentration of nickel (Ni) was found in individuals who spent > 30 min/day in traffic. The elevated levels of V, Mn, and cobalt (Co) were associated with a short distance from dwellings to the main road. The results of PCA showed that PM2.5-bound metals might come from five sources: As, selenium (Se), Rb, Cd, Tl, and Pb from cigarette smoke exposure; Al, V, Mn, Fe, and Sr from crustal dust; copper (Cu) and antimony (Sb) from industrial activities; Ni and Co from traffic emission; and Zn from coal combustion. The concentrations of PM2.5-bound metals in this study were at moderate levels. Cigarette smoke exposure, industrial activities, traffic emission, and coal combustion might be major anthropogenic sources of personal PM2.5-bound metal exposures in Wuhan, China.

The solid–electrolyte interphase (SEI) plays an important role in stabilizing lithium metal anodes for high-energy storage batteries. However, SEI between the lithium metal anode and liquid electrolyte is usually unstable due to nonuniform Li deposition. A stable SEI is considered to be an effective way to control the interfacial structure and improve the stability of lithium metal anodes. Herein, an in situ-formed flexible three-dimensional honeycomb-like poly(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate) film (PTFEMA) fabricated by cross-linking lithium nitrate was designed to construct a LiF/Li3N-enriched hybrid organic–inorganic interphase. The predominant species in the hybrid organic–inorganic interphase should possess excellent chemical stability against the Li metal anode in theory according to the calculation results of the higher LUMO energy level and larger LUMO–HOMO gap, which can regulate uniform Li deposition and the growth of large crystalline grains of Li. As a result, the hybrid organic–inorganic interphase achieved excellent reversibility (>98% Coulombic efficiency over 400 cycles) and an ultralow overpotential (about 10 mV) over 1000 h. Meanwhile, the LFP cathode with the developed anode achieved an 89.6% capacity retention after 500 cycles even at a high rate of 10 C. Moreover, the PTFEMA-N film showed hydrophobic but electrolyte wettable features. We hope this study can be applied to next-generation high-energy storage batteries for practical applications in the foreseeable future.

In this paper, we investigate an intraband mid-infrared photodetector based on HgSe colloidal quantum dots (CQDs). We study the size, absorption spectra, and carrier mobility of HgSe CQDs films. By regulating the time and temperature of the reaction during synthesis, we have achieved the regulation of CQDs size, and the number of electrons doped in conduction band. It is experimentally verified by the field effect transistor measurement that dark current is effectively reduced by a factor of 10 when the 1Se state is doped with two electrons compared with other doping densities. The HgSe CQDs film mobility is also measured as a function of temperature the HgSe CQDs thin film detector, which could be well fitted by Marcus Theory with a maximum of 0.046 ± 0.002 cm2/Vs at room temperature. Finally, we experimentally discuss the device performance such as photocurrent and responsivity. The responsivity reaches a maximum of 0.135 ± 0.012 A/W at liquid nitrogen temperature with a narrow band photocurrent spectrum.

The adverse health effects from fine particulate matter (PM2.5) exposure have attracted much attention. However, the method to evaluate individual PM2.5 exposure levels in large populations has always been a challenging task. We conducted this study to explore the relationships of ambient PM2.5, meteorological conditions and personal lifestyles with personal PM2.5 exposure and establish an estimated model for personal PM2.5 exposure among community residents in Wuhan. Participants were extracted from Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort and a total of 191 24-h personal PM2.5 measurements were conducted using personal PM2.5 samplers in Spring, 2014, 2017. Ambient PM2.5 concentration, meteorological conditions and personal lifestyles were collected from the nearest fixed air monitoring station, meteorological station and face-to-face investigation, respectively. The average concentration of daily personal PM2.5 exposure was 156.85 μg/m3 with a range of 14.85–443.21 μg/m3 in this study, which was almost twice as high as the ambient PM2.5 concentrations (average 71.16 μg/m3). After stepwise selection and linear mixed model fitting, ambient PM2.5, cigarette consumption, passive smoking, pressure difference, temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed were selected into the final model. Marginal R2 and conditional R2 of this model were 0.604 and 0.635, respectively. R2 of 10-fold cross validation was 0.654. This study provided an estimated model with relatively comprehensive consideration of sources for personal PM2.5 exposure in Wuhan.

The utility of flexidentate pyridyl-substituted formazanate ligands for assembling dinuclear coordination complexes with iridium(III) and/or platinum(II) building blocks is demonstrated herein. The dinuclear complexes are prepared either via a stepwise strategy, adding one metal unit at a time, or via one-pot self-assembly. Eight of the new complexes, including both mononuclear precursors and dinuclear products, are structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and NMR spectroscopy, revealing several distinct binding modes of the formazanates. All complexes are characterized by UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The frontier orbitals are primarily localized on the formazanate ligand, and a characteristic, intense formazanate-centered π→π* absorption band is observed in the absorption spectra.

BackgroundExposure to zinc was suggested to be associated with pulmonary damage, but whether zinc exposure affects lung function remains unclear.ObjectivesTo quantify the association between urinary zinc and lung function and explore the potential mechanisms.MethodsUrinary zinc and lung function were measured in 3917 adults from the Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort and were repeated after 3 years of follow-up. Indicators of systemic inflammation (C reactive protein), lung epithelium integrity (club cell secretory protein-16) and oxidative damage (8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine and 8-isoprostane) were measured at baseline. Linear mixed models were used to estimate the exposure–response relationship between urinary zinc and lung function. Mediation analyses were conducted to assess mediating roles of inflammation and oxidative damage in above relationships.ResultsEach 1-unit increase in log-transformed urinary zinc values was associated with a 35.72 mL decrease in forced vital capacity (FVC) and a 24.89 mL decrease in forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) in the baseline analyses. In the follow-up analyses, there was a negative association between urinary zinc and FVC among participants with persistent high urinary zinc levels, with an estimated change of −93.31 mL (95% CI −178.47 to −8.14). Furthermore, urinary zinc was positively associated with restrictive ventilatory impairment. The mediation analyses suggested that C reactive protein mediated 8.62% and 8.71% of the associations of urinary zinc with FVC and FEV1, respectively.ConclusionUrinary zinc was negatively associated with lung function, and the systemic inflammation may be one of the underlying mechanisms.

Mode excitations in D-shaped multimode fiber are analyzed in detail in terms of the effect of launch offset, polishing depth, and length of the D-shaped section. Based on the analysis, specklegrams from D-shaped multimode fiber structures are proposed to be applied in refractive index sensing. Glycerol solutions with different concentrations were used to study the relationship between the zero-mean normalized cross-correlation coefficient (ZNCC) of fiber output specklegrams and the surrounding refractive index. Responses of different D-shaped fiber structures are investigated and compared. For all of the structures, regular gradual changes of the ZNCC for each specklegram with the refractive index are found in a wide refractive index range of 1.352-1.444, which shows the feasibility of refractive index sensing. A high sensitivity being 10.47 RIU−1 is obtained by the structure with the polishing depth being $18~\mu \text{m}$ and length being 5cm. The proposed refractive sensing scheme is easy to realize with wide measurement range and high flexibility.

Background Previous studies reported that obesity indices were inversely associated with lung function. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We aimed to assess the potential mediating effect of systemic inflammation in the associations between obesity indices and lung function decline among a general population. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study among 3442 participants from the Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort. Plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) was assayed as a marker of systemic inflammation. The relationships among several obesity indices (body mass index, BMI; waist circumference, WC; waist-to-hip ratio, WHR; waist-to-height ratio, WHtR), plasma CRP and lung function were assessed by generalized linear models. The role of CRP in the associations between obesity indices and lung function was analyzed using mediation analysis. Solid state lithium-ion batteries are considered as one of the most promising next-generation technologies for energy storage. However, the low ionic conductivity of solid electrolytes and interfacial compatibility issues remain huge challenges to solid state lithium-ion batteries. Herein, a novel hybrid solid electrolyte (HSE) membrane consisting of Li0.33La0.557TiO3 (LLTO) ceramic nanorods, poly(acylonitrile) (PAN) and succinonitrile (SN) is constructed. The HSE integrates their merits and shows a high ionic conductivity of 2.20 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 30 °C. It also exhibits a high electrochemical window of 5.1 V (vs. Li/Li+), superior thermal stability and good mechanical properties. When applied in solid state lithium-ion batteries using LiFePO4 as the cathode, the battery demonstrates excellent rate capability and high cycling performance. At a current rate of 0.5C after 150 cycles, the discharge specific capacity still remains at 151 mA h g−1 without decay. This investigation indicates that the HSE membrane could provide a promising solution for high performance solid state lithium-ion batteries.

Silicon (Si) is a mature semiconductor detection material because of its appropriate bandgap, high reliability, and low-cost manufacturing process. However, the detection range of Si-based photodetectors is mainly restricted to visible and near-infrared (NIR) ranges. Broadening the detection range of Si-based detectors to ultraviolet (UV) could ignite numerous applications, including flame detection, defense safety, and environmental monitoring. Here, the obtained perovskite colloidal quantum dots (QDs) with high quality are integrated with a Si/graphene heterojunction to broaden and improve response. By the electrical coupling mechanism between graphene and QDs, the built-in potential in detectors is maximized. As a result, the devices exhibit a high UV responsivity of 0.33 A W−1 at 210 nm, 0.73 A W−1 at 400 nm, and a superior detectivity of nearly 1012 Jones under the UV region. Aside from that, the performance of devices under visible and NIR ranges is also dramatically improved compared to that of the one without perovskite QDs.

Halide perovskite has remarkable optoelectronic properties, such as high atomic number, large carrier mobility-lifetime product, high X-ray attenuation coefficient, and simple and low-cost synthesis process, and has gradually developed into the next-generation X-ray detection materials. Halide perovskite-based X-ray detectors can improve the sensitivity and reduce the detectable X-ray dose, which is applied in imaging, nondestructive industrial inspection, security screening, and scientific research. In this article, we introduce the fabrication methods of halide perovskite film and the classification and progress of halide perovskite-based X-ray detectors. Finally, the existing challenges are discussed, and the possible directions for future applications are explored. We hope this review can stimulate the further improvement of perovskite-based X-ray detectors.

Multi-color light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with various advantages of color tunability, self-luminescence, wide viewing angles, high color contrast, low power consumption, and flexibility provide a wide range of applications including full-color display, augmented reality/virtual reality technology, and wearable healthcare systems. In this review, we introduce three main types of multi-color LEDs: the organic LED, colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) LED, and CQD–organic hybrid LED. Various strategies for realizing multi-color LEDs are discussed including red, green, and blue sub-pixel side-by-side arrangement; vertically stacked LED unit configuration; and stacked emitter layers in a single LED. Finally, according to their status and challenges, we present an outlook of multi-color devices. We hope this review can inspire researchers and make a contribution to the further improvement of multi-color LED technology.

Background: Lung function decline and miRNAs are known to involve in the pathogenesis process of respiratory diseases. However, the association between miRNA profiles and lung function decline was rarely elucidated. This study aimed to compare the expression pattern of plasma miRNAs among people with rapid lung function decline and healthy controls. Methods: Ten controls and 10 cases with rapid lung function decline in last 3 years were enrolled from the Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort. The miRNA sequencing and bioinformatics analysis were carried out to explore miRNAs expression and possible signal pathways. Pearson correlation analysis was carried out to assess the associations between lung function and miRNAs expression levels.Results: A total of 1209 detected miRNAs were differently expression in the reaseach participants. Among them, 17 miRNAs (miR-6749-5p, miR-6797-3p, miR-4468, miR-4301, miR-629-3p, miR-4713-3p, miR-486-3p, miR-450a-1-3p, miR-4732-5p, miR-514a-5p, miR-193b-5p, miR-6749-5p, miR-3168, miR-4691-5p, miR-6730-5p, miR-184, miR-486-5p) were significantly down-regulated in cases with reduced lung function. The expression levels of these miRNAs, except miR-514a-5p and miR-3168, were significantly correlated with lung function parameters. Through bioinformatics analysis, the Wnt signaling pathway, FoxO signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, Pathway in cancer, inflammatory mediator regulation of TRP channels, and TGF-β signaling pathway maybe involved in mediating the association between 17 identified miRNAs and lung function decline.Conclusions: The plasma miRNA profile of people with rapid lung function decline are different when compared with healthy controls. These miRNAs might become research candidates or biomarkers in the early progression of respiratory diseases.

Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) exposure has been associated with lung function decline, but impact of PM2.5 constituents especially for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) on lung function is unclear among community population. We enrolled 224 Chinese participants who participated in two study periods (2014–2015 and 2017–2018) of the Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort as a panel, and quantified the associations of personal PM2.5 and sixteen PM2.5-bound PAHs with lung function levels as well as lung function change in three years by linear mixed models. Diagnostic ratios were calculated to identify potential sources of PM2.5-bound PAHs in Wuhan and Zhuhai separately. In single-constituent models, we found that each one interquartile-range increase of naphthalene, acenaphthene, fluoranthene and pyrene were associated with 26.82, 60.99, 45.25 and 23.37 mL decline in FVC respectively; while fluoranthene and pyrene were associated with 27.43 and 15.49 mL decline in FEV1 respectively. Similar results were observed in consitituent-PM2.5 joint models and single-constituent residual models. Persistently long-term high levels of three HMW-PAHs (benzo[a]anthracene, dibenzo[a,h]anthracene, and benzo[ghi]perylene) were associated with 214.65, 226.13, and 265.00 mL decline in FVC decline in three years, compared with persistently low exposure level groups. The associations were different between Wuhan and Zhuhai. The results of diagnostic ratios suggested the differences in PAH emissions between two cities. Our findings provide evidence that both short- and long-term PM2.5-bound PAH exposures might affect lung function.

Background Central obesity and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) exposure were reported as independent risk factors for lung function decline. However, the interaction between central obesity and PAHs exposure on lung function is still unclear. Objectives To evaluate the impact of central obesity, urinary polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon metabolites (OH-PAHs) and their combined effects on lung function in general population. Methods Lung function and urinary OH-PAHs were measured for 3,749 participants from the Wuhan-Zhuhai cohort. Central obesity was evaluated by waist-to-hip ratio. Generalized linear regression was used to estimate combined effect of central obesity and OH-PAHs on lung function. Results Compared with participants without central obesity and with low urinary total OH-PAHs (∑OH-PAHs) level, those with central obesity and high urinary ∑OH-PAHs level had 59.4 mL and 61.0 mL reductions for forced vital capacity (FVC) and forced expiratory volume in 1s (FEV1), respectively (P Conclusion Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons exposure has combined effect with central obesity on lung function parameters.

Silicon (Si) is regarded as the most attractive anode for high-performance lithium-ion batteries due to its high theoretical specific capacity. Unfortunately, Si experiences significant volume changes, leading to severe capacity fading and poor cycling stability. Here, novel hierarchical void structured Si/PANi/C microspheres are designed and synthesized to tackle these problems. In this architecture, silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) with conductive polymer conformal coating are homogeneously dispersed in a three-dimensional porous polymer framework which is partially carbonized. The void space in highly porous matrix is not only capable of accommodating volume expansion but also favorable for liquid electrolyte penetration, enabling extremely stable cycling performance and superior rate capability, along with high areal mass loading. The outside carbon layer containing nitrogen may help attain a stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film. The resultant Si/PANi/C anode reaches the reversible charge capacity of 1470 mAh g−1 at 100 mA g−1 and the average capacity loss after 200 cycles is only 0.04% per cycle. Moreover, Si/PANi/C anode exhibits excellent rate performance of ∼790 mAh g−1 even at 1 A g−1 and its Coulombic efficiency increases to 99% after only 3 cycles. Remarkably, the reversible areal capacity is high with a value of 2.74 mAh cm−2 at a high mass loading of ∼1.9 mg cm−2.

A quaternary compound Bi3O2S2Cl, which consists of novel [BiS2Cl]2-layers, is reported. It adopts a layered structure of the space group I4/mmm (No. 139) with lattice parameters: a = 3.927(1) {\AA}, c = 21.720(5) {\AA}. In this compound, bismuth and chlorine atoms form an infinite planar layer, which is unique among the bismuth halides. Superconductivity is observed in both polycrystals and single crystals, and is significantly enhanced in the samples prepared with less sulfur or at higher temperatures. By tuning the content of sulfur, Bi3O2S2Cl can be converted from a semiconductor into a superconductor. The superconducting critical temperature ranges from 2.6 K to 3.5 K. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has thrived as a promising cancer treatment modality in recent years. Herein, four trinuclear platinum–triphenylamine isomers were synthesized to investigate their potential as PDT anticancer agents. The results found that when platinum(II) moieties were conjugated to the para-position of the pyridyl ring of the triphenylamine core (complexes 1 and 2), they exhibited much better PDT activities than their meta-position coordinated counterparts (complexes 3 and 4), owing to the redder absorption and emission wavelength, higher singlet oxygen quantum yield and cell nucleus-targeted ability. Further studies revealed that complex 2, which was the most potent among the four complexes, effectively induced DNA damage responses, arrested the cell cycle in the G2/M phase and consequently resulted in cancer cell apoptosis upon 425 nm light irradiation (40 mW cm−2, 15 min). In vivo studies also demonstrated that 2 was an effective photodynamic anticancer agent.

Image data acquired with fused multispectral information can be used for effective identification and navigation owing to additional information beyond human vision, including thermal distribution, night vision, and molecular composition. However, the construction of photodetectors with such capabilities is hindered by the structural complexity arising from the integration of multiple semiconductor junctions with distinct energy gaps and lattice constants. In this work, we develop a colloidal quantum-dot dual-mode detector capable of detecting, separating, and fusing photons from various wavelength ranges. Using three vertically stacked colloidal quantum-dot homojunctions with alternating polarity, single-band short-wave infrared imaging and fused-band imaging (short-wave and mid-wave infrared) can be achieved with the same detector by controlling bias polarity and magnitude. The dual-mode detectors show detectivity up to 8 × 10 10 Jones at the fused-band mode and 3.1 × 10 11 Jones at the single-band mode, respectively. Without image post-processing algorithms, the dual-mode detectors could provide both night vision and thermal information-enhanced night vision imaging capability. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first colloidal quantum-dot detector that can achieve such functionality. The operation mode can be changed at a high frequency up to 1.7 MHz, making it possible to achieve simultaneously dual-mode imaging and remote temperature sensing.

Although the performance of quantum-dot-based light emitting diodes (QLEDs) has been significantly enhanced over the past years, conventional full-color QLED displays still rely on the side-by-side pattern techniques of red (R)/green (G)/blue (B) quantum dots (QDs). Such lateral integration of multi-color pixels imposes technological difficulty in the development of high-resolution displays due to limited pixel density and fill factors. Herein, we demonstrate the development of full-color QLEDs with bias-tunable emission spectra by engineering mixed R/G/B QDs as light emitting layers. In Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates, QLEDs with bias-tunable color exhibit wide color variation ranging from red (0.649, 0.330) to green (0.283, 0.305) to blue (0.255, 0.264) upon increasing voltages and can be tuned to emit white light (0.316, 0.325). More importantly, the fabricated multi-color QLEDs show high luminance approaching 10 3 cd m − 2 and superior external quantum efficiency of 13.3%. Benefitting from the wide spectral tunability and light emitting efficiency, we believe the proposed multi-color QLEDs have great application prospects for both displays and lighting.
