Accurately predicting the length of stay of patients in hospital can have positive impacts on both financial and psychological conditions of patients. This can also help hospital administrations to perform effective and correct allocation of critical resources to patients. This work presents an ensemble modeling technique that can be used for accurate determination of length of stay of patients based on several factors that are obtained from hospital records. The multi model nature of the architecture, and the heterogeneity associated with the production model provides a high performing system that can handle the complex hospital data. Experiments were performed on the standard MIMIC III data. Comparisons were performed with the existing state of the art models from literature. Comparisons indicate that the proposed HMME model demonstrations accuracy levels of 95%, indicating that the model can be effectively deployed in hospitals for decision making purposes. Managing hospital resources is one of the major requirements in providing qualitative and timely treatments do patients. From the patient’s standpoint, identifying the number of days of stay can aid in effective planning from the monetary perspective.This work presents the Feature Augmented Stacked Bagging (FASB) model for effective prediction of length of stay of patient based on their hospital records. The ensemble model created is composed of two levels; the first level operates on the hospital data and provides the intermediate predictions, while the second level uses predictions from the first level model to perform the final predictions. Experiments where performed using the MIMIC III data, and the results obtained were compared with existing state of the art models for analysis. Comparisons indicate that the proposed model exhibits 95% accuracy levels, which is 13% greater than the compared model. This indicates that the proposed model is highly effective in identifying the length of stay of patients.

Introduction: Umbilical cord blood (UCB) is a good source of haematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cells. UCB stem cells are used in treatment of a variety of blood and bone marrow diseases, blood cancers, metabolic disorders and immune deficiencies. Objective: This study aimed in investigating college students’ knowledge and attitude about UCB and UCB banking. Methods: It is a descriptive cross-sectional study. The study was conducted in East West College of Management, Bangalore, India from September 2018 to August 2019. A total 80 college students were selected by random sampling techniques. There were self-structured questionnaires used to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding UCB and UCB banking. The data analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS version 21. Results: The maximum number of participants were from age group 19-21 years followed by age group 16-18 years. The overall knowledge score was 21.05±5.11 with mean percentage score of 60.14. The 71.25% (57) of subjects had moderately adequate knowledge; whereas, 25% (20) of subjects showed adequate knowledge. Similarly, the overall attitude score of subjects was 61.5±5.17 with a mean percentage score of 51.25%. Out of the total participants, 90% (72) had neutral attitude, 10% (8) exhibited positive attitude and none of the subjects exhibited negative attitude towards UCB banking. There was no association found between knowledge and sociodemographic variables and between attitude and sociodemographic variables. Conclusion: The majority of the respondents had moderate knowledge and maximum had neutral atti­tude on umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord blood banking.

This project is an initiative to convert the solid waste (easily available inside Bannari Amman Institute of Technology campus, Sathyamangalam, Erode District.) to compost within a short duration of 14 to 18 days by rapid composting. The wastes included in the composting comprises materials such as vegetable cuttings, dry and wet leaf twigs, grass clippings, tree trimmings etc. That’s where composting steps in; organic waste can be recycled through composting and the resulting product can be used to improve soil quality and help plants grow. The size of the composting bin was 3 feet × 3 feet × 3 feet. Alternate layers of wet waste and dry waste were added to the composting bin. Saw dust and cow dung were used as the accelerators. Quantity of waste added was: Wet waste − 169 kg, Dry waste – 66 kg, saw dust − 24 kg which was in the ratio 7:2.75:1. Wastes were chopped to 0.5 to 1.5 in. for better composting. The dry leaves are used only for burning (which causes air pollution and causes health hazards), as an alternative we made compost with dry leaves combining with wet waste. This can be readily adopted in colonies, schools and colleges where dry and wet wastes are easily available. The resultant product of compost obtained is used as manure for plants inside the institution campus.

Groundwater sources play an important role in meeting the day today needs of the present generation for various activities such as domestic, industrial, commercial and agricultural. These sources are to be protected from pollution to meet the essentials of the future generation. Frequent monitoring of the ground water source plays an important part. The aim of this study is to analyze the quality of the ground water in and around the open dumpsite near Sathyamangalam town in Erode district and to identify the variation in concentration with respect to time. Groundwater samples were collected from twenty-one locations in around the open dumpsite and analyzed for the important parameters such as pH, Electrical conductivity (EC), Total Alkalinity (TA), Total Hardness (TH), Total Dissolved solids (TDS), Calcium (Ca2+), Magnesium (Mg2+), Chlorides (Cl-), Sodium (Na+), Potassium (K+), Nitrates (NO3-) and Sulphates (SO42-). Water Quality Index (WQI) was used to identify the quality of water for drinking. From the results obtained, it is inferred that WQI changes with respect to different seasons and different time periods for the same season. Majority of the samples are of poor quality with respect to drinking water quality index. Gibb’s plot, Wilcox diagram and United States Salinity Laboratory (USSL) diagram are used to assess the suitability of groundwater samples for irrigation purpose. Most of the samples are good for agricultural use. Hence frequent and continuous monitoring of the groundwater quality is necessary to identify its suitability for drinking and agricultural purpose.

Introduction: The term Corneal Dystrophy refers to a rare heterogeneous group of genetically determined, bilateral, symmetric, primary diseases, restricted to cornea and not associated with previous ocular inflammation. The dystrophies are classified based on the layer of cornea involved, into superficial, stromal and posterior dystrophies, each of which is genetically determined. Though the clinical features are often characteristic, definitive diagnosis is possible only after histological examination. The management protocols and visual prognosis vary with the underlying conditions. The incidence of the subtypes varies with the geographic locations. Objective: To study the prevalence of various subtypes of Corneal Dystrophies in corneal button specimens obtained after penetrating keratoplasty in a referral ophthalmic institute and to correlate with the patient’s age and sex. Materials and Methods: Corneal button specimens received in the ocular pathology laboratory over a period of five years were reviewed. Histopathological features of Corneal Dystrophies were studied and subcategorised. Cliniopathological analysis was made. Results: Out of 660 corneal biopsies reviewed, 42 cases were of corneal dystrophy. The patients were between 2 and 71 years of age, with 14 males and 28 females. Macular dystrophy was the most common with 20 cases, followed by Congenital Hereditary Endothelial Dystrophy (CHED) and Fuch’s endothelial dystrophy (FECD), with 7 cases each. Epithelial basement membrane dystrophy, Reis Buckler Dystrophy (RBCD), Granular dystrophy were the other types. Conclusion: Histopathological sub categorisation of various types of Corneal Dystrophies not only helps in understanding the prevalence, but also in predicting the genetic link and prognosis of the disease category. Introduction: Lesions from cutaneous portion of eyelid account for the considerable number of ocular specimens sent to the histopathology laboratory for evaluation. Wide spectrum of lesions ranging from non-neoplastic to neoplastic lesions can arise from different tissues of eyelid. Aim: The aim of our study was to categorise the Neoplastic lesions, evaluate the prevalence of tumors and to compare with epidemiological data. Materials and Methods: Retrospective analysis of 774 consecutive cases of Eyelid tumors over a period of 5 years was carried out in tertiary health care system through histopathological confirmation. Results: A total of 774 eyelid tumors consisted of 718 Benign lesions (92.76%) and 56 Malignant lesions (7.24%). Benign tumors were common in the fifth decade with female predominance affecting upper eyelid. Maximum number of Benign tumors were 318(44.28%) cases of Cystic lesions followed by 135(18.8%) Melanocytic lesions and 126(17.54%) cases of Epithelial proliferations. Malignant tumors were predominant in seventh decade with female preponderance and preference for lower eyelid. Sebaceous gland carcinoma 24(42.85%) was the commonest malignant tumor followed by 18(32.14%) Basal cell carcinoma, 5(8. 92%) Squamous cell carcinomas and 4(7.14%) cases of Malignant melanomas. An interesting case of Squamous cell carcinoma arising from Pilomatricoma was also seen. Rare tumors noted were 3 cases of Keratoacanthoma and one each case of Merkel cell carcinoma and Non -Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Conclusion: Benign tumors comprise majority of eyelid tumors. A high index of suspicion for malignant lesion will enable the patients for early diagnosis and management with the better prognosis of these tumors. Bisphenols (BP) is one of the most important and highest volumes of chemicals produced in the universe. Each year, around 100 tons of bisphenol compounds are released into the atmosphere. In general, bisphenol is most widely used for production of polycarbonate (making plastic bottles like baby bottles and nursing products, dental sealants, CDs, DVDs, eye glasses, medical equipment’s, plasticizers etc.) and polymeric resins (epoxy resins, impact resistant safety materials like sports goods etc.). Due to these unavoidable chemicals, human beings are affected by human chronic diseases like obesity, toxicity, neuro disorder, reproductivity disorders, diabetes, cardio related issues, birth defects, metabolic syndrome, breathing issues, digestive related issues, cancer, genetic mutation etc., Children are easily affecting due to the multi dose consumption of packed food containing BP (canned foods) than adults. Women are affecting polycystic ovaries due to the high-level deposition of BP.

Population growth is a global issue that must be addressed with extreme caution in order to ensure long-term sustainability. India is a developing country experiencing tremendous population growth and urbanization. Small towns and cities contribute less than half of Municipal Solid Waste Generation (MSW) whereas metropolitan cities contribute 70 to 90%. The improper handling of MSW dumping in open land pollutes the ecosystem. It also poses a serious threat to human health. This study aims to comprehend the environmental implications of an open dumpsite in Gobichettipalayam of Erode district. The principal goal of this research is to identify the environmental effects of the chosen dumping site on the surrounding environment. Thus, groundwater and soil samples were collected around the open dumpsite and analyzed for vital physico-chemical characteristics. The soil sample was analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity, moisture content, chloride, acidity and alkalinity and the water samples were analyzed for pH, EC, TDS, COD, BOD, acidity, chlorides, alkalinity, hardness and toxic heavy metals. The elevated chloride ranges of soil samples near the dumpsite and the vital water quality parameters COD and BOD (Maximum 3200 and 500ppm) enforces the immediate necessity of converting open dumpsite into a sanitary landfill. The assessment of the open dump and its effects on the ecosystem found possible contamination issues, raising worries about the environment’s long-term viability. Hence the present study provides the way to go for remedial measures and sustainable technology to be implemented near the dumpsite.

In the manufacturing sector, the furnace was used as an important role. In recent research reports that it was a challenging task to complete the melting of material in any type of furnace. It has less maintenance and no emissions. In the present work describes the increasing heat capacity in the electric furnace by alteration of electrical circuits and an additional supply of oxygen, which leads to an increase in the combustion rate of hardox steel. For this experiment, the various factors were considered such as electric energy consumption, standoff distance (SOD), and the number of electrodes. The maximum of four graphite electrodes was used to increase the heat capacity. The penetration of the molten metal level was measured through the change of process factors. The effect of heat with respect to the various factors and their interactions were studied through the surface plot and variance analysis.

Objective: In applications like Wind Energy Conversion System, electric cell power conversion and Grid-connected PV generation, a small DC source voltage should be boosted to induce fascinating AC output voltage. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Z Structured Impedance Source Inverter (ZSI) is well-liked for its buck to boost operations. The high voltage gain will be obtained from the normal Z Structured Impedance Source Inverter at low modulation index state. On the other side, a little modulation index state produces high voltage stress at the inverter side switches. To defeat this problem, a Trans Z Structured Impedance Source Inverter (TZSI) is developed. In TZSI, transformer winding turns demand is high and the windings get burnt because of high instant current throughout shoot through length. Findings: A new topology of Trans Z Structured Impedance Source Inverter is introduced in this paper to boost the voltage gain fair enough. In this new topology the winding turn’s usage is smaller amount and consequently inverter gain is lift up by lower the modulation index. To validate the ideas planned in theories, experimental results were taken and bestowed in this paper. Application: This inverter is utilized for three faze Uninterruptable Power Supply. The proposed inverter is designed and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink podium for 3 KVA load capacity and it will sustain the specified output voltage with the substantial drop in voltage at battery bank side. A Variable step size Incremental resistance algorithm for PV system was designed for maximum power point tracking. The outputs are generated with help of MATLAB/SIMLUNK. The performance of the PV system for partial shading condition was observed. The output for the system was found to be more efficient and attains stability much faster than any other controller. The power output can be controlled by varying the scaling factor.

Solar Photovoltaic power generation shows considerable growth in the past decades. In the grid integrated PV system require MPPT controller to improve the efficiency of the power harvested from the plant due to nonlinearity nature of PV module. Among many MPPT Technique P&O has adaptive tracking, reduced oscillation around MPP. In this paper the Perturbation and Observation based MPPT algorithm with adaptive duty ratio generation is used. In this Paper in addition to PV power generation it is used for the power correction of the utility grid by injecting the power to balance the system during unbalanced load condition. Simulation of the proposed concept is run in the MATLAB 2018/Simulink environment.

Cloud computing is the cutting edge technology in the information field to provide services to the users over the internet through web–based tools and applications. One of the major aspects of cloud computing is load balancing. Challenges like Quality of service (QoS) metrics and resource utilization can be improved by balancing the load in cloud environment. Specific scheduling criteria can be applied using load balancing for users prioritization. This paper surveys different load balancing algorithms. The approaches that are existing are discussed and analyzed to provide fair load balancing and also a comparative analysis was presented for the performance of the existing different load balancing schemes.

Waste management is one of the vital environmental issues since last few decades. It has been noted that the generation of waste increases with increasing population, industrialization and urbanization etc. The waste management strategy includes both non-hazardous and hazardous waste management. Non-hazardous waste does not cause potential threat to environment but instead hazardous waste is the waste that poses substantial or potential threats to public health and the environment. Rapidly growing industrial sector has contributed to the generation of large quantity of hazardous waste material. Therefore, to reduce environmental hazard, proper attention is required during storage, segregation, transportation and disposal of hazardous waste, because it cannot be disposed as off in the environment. This study explains about hazardous wastes, types and management.
