En baloncesto, cuando se practica con menores, no puede obviarse el componente educativo, al margen de las habilidades tácticas y técnicas que lo caracterizan. Desde la perspectiva de educar a través del deporte, se implantó el “Programa infantil de baloncesto en hospitales” de la Fundación Real Madrid para contribuir a la formación y bienestar de los menores ingresados. Esta actividad fue totalmente adaptada a las características de los menores y al contexto en donde se desarrolló. Dada la importancia de los familiares y personal sanitario, el objetivo principal de este estudio fue conocer la percepción y grado de satisfacción de estos dos colectivos en cuanto al programa mencionado. Se realizó una investigación de tipo descriptivo. La población total del estudio fue de 115 personas, de las cuales 70 fueron familiares y 45 fueron personal sanitario. Se utilizó un cuestionario realizado ad hoc con un total de 29 ítems. Los resultados revelaron una gran satisfacción de los participantes sobre el desarrollo del Programa, valorándolo como una actividad deportiva, educativa y lúdica. Destacaron el fomento de valores como el compañerismo, la motivación, el respeto y la autoestima. Resaltaron la labor del profesorado y la capacidad de adaptación de las actividades y juegos planteados. Por otro lado, manifestaron la necesidad de más sesiones semanales, mayor tiempo de duración de éstas y mejoras en las instalaciones donde se desarrollaron las actividades. Como conclusión, en opinión de los participantes, el Programa infantil de baloncesto en hospitales fomentó valores educativos a través de la práctica del baloncesto. Summary. In basketball, when practiced with minors, the educational component cannot be ignored, regardless of the tactical and technical skills that characterize it. From the perspective of educating through sport, the "Children's Basketball Program in Hospitals" of the Real Madrid Foundation was implemented to contribute to the training and well-being of minors admitted. This activity was fully adapted to the characteristics of the minors and the context in which it took place. Given the importance of family members and health personnel, the main objective of this study was to know the perception and degree of satisfaction of these two groups regarding the aforementioned program. A descriptive research was carried out. The total study population was 115 people, of whom 70 were family members and 45 were health personnel. A questionnaire was used ad hoc with a total of 29 items. The results revealed a great satisfaction of the participants about the development of the program, valuing it as a sport, educational and recreational activity. They highlighted the promotion of values such as team-spirit, motivation, respect and self-esteem. They highlighted the work of the teachers and the ability to adapt to the activities and games proposed. On the other hand, they expressed the need for more weekly sessions, longer duration of these and improvements in the facilities where the activities were developed. In conclusion, in the opinion of the participants, the children's basketball program in hospitals fostered educational values through the practice of basketball.

espanolLos incendios forestales se han convertido en un problema creciente para el medio ambiente y la proteccion civil en un contexto de cambio global. El potencial de los grandes incendios forestales tiende a crecer por la mayor frecuencia de ventanas meteorologicas y escenarios paisajisticos favorables. Estos incendios forestales son y pueden ser cada vez mas importantes en la estructura y configuracion del paisaje, asi como para bienes y personas, por lo que resulta esencial anticiparnos. Se propone una metodologia centrada en los objetivos de las acciones que identifica de antemano las oportunidades que puede tener la extincion para limitar el alcance de los grandes incendios forestales, ubicando actuaciones y empleando directrices de diseno mas eficientes y seguras para las acciones de prevencion. Se desarrollan las Areas de Defensa (AD) y los Rodales de Actuacion Estrategica (RAE). Esta metodologia es la que actualmente se esta aplicando en los Planes de Defensa contra incendios forestales en la Comunidad Autonoma de Aragon. EnglishWildfire have become a growing problem for the environment and civil protection in a context of global change. The potential of large forest fires tends to grow due to the higher frequency of weather windows and favourable landscape scenarios. These wildfires are and can be increasingly important in the structure and configuration of the landscape, as well as for goods and people, so it is essential to anticipate. A methodology focused on the objectives of the actions is proposed that identifies in advance the opportunities that extinction can have to limit the extent of large forest fires, locating the areas and using more efficient and safe design guidelines for prevention actions. The Defense Areas (AD) and the Strategic Action Stands (RAE) are developed. This methodology is what is currently being applied in the Defense Plans against Wildfire in the Aragon region.

The aim of this study was to know how the sports model of the Real Madrid Foundation (FRM) influences the personal and social factors of sportsmanship. The study sample consisted of 413 players from Social-Sports Basketball Schools of the FRM in the Community of Madrid (281 boys and 132 girls) belonging to U10, U12, U14 y U16 categories. The Multidimensional Scale of Orientations towards Sportsmanship was used. Among the main results, higher values were detected in personal factors than in social factors. The girls showed higher values in personal factors (p< .024). Athletes participating in the FRM’s internal competitions had more sporting attitudes than those who did not (p< .007). Players in the smaller categories showed a greater orientation towards sportsmanship. Finally, a positive correlation was observed between both dimensions (rs = 0.542, p< .001). The data showed that the FRM’s sports model contributes to the development of sportsmanship among young athletes.

Competition during the sports training process should aid young athletes’ overall development. The aim of this study was to ascertain the levels of competitive anxiety in athletes who practice basketball at the Real Madrid Foundation (RMF)’s Social-Sports Schools, and to analyze whether any differences exist in regard to anxiety in the various subscales that take into account gender, participation in the RMF’s internal competitions, and basketball modalities (mini basketball/basketball). The study sample consisted of 320 players (224 boys and 96 girls) belonging to the following di erent age groups: 8–9-year-olds, 10–11-year-olds, 12–13-year-olds, and 14–15-year-olds (M = 10.54; SD = 1.92). The Sport Anxiety Scale-2 (SAS-2) was used in the version translated and validated in Spanish. It was found that the athletes displayed low levels of competitive anxiety in all three subscales. No significant di erences were observed between the genders, nor between basketball modalities (mini basketball/basketball). Finally, a positive correlation was observed between the various subscales.

El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar las preferencias de interacción social de los chicos y chicas de la de las Escuelas Sociodeportivas de Baloncesto de la Fundación Real Madrid. La muestra estaba formada por 413 jugadores, 68% (n=281) chicos y 32% (n=132) chicas. La distribución por categorías fue, el 31,2% pertenecían a la categoría Benjamín (n=129), el 36,1% a la categoría alevín (n=149), el 25,2% a la categoría infantil (n=104) y, el 7,5% a la categoría cadete (n=31). El instrumento utilizado fue la Escala Graupera/Ruiz de Preferencias de Interacción Social (GR-SIPPEL), que explora cuatro dimensiones de preferencia de aprendizaje: Cooperación, competencia, afiliación e individualismo. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizaron pruebas no paramétricas (U de Mann-Whitney y Kruskal-Wallis), se calculó el tamaño del efecto y, para determinar si existían asociaciones entre las distintas dimensiones se utilizó el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman. Los resultados mostraron que el Proyecto Deportivo-Educativo de la Fundación Real Madrid contribuye a que no existan diferencias acentuadas en función del sexo. Además, los chicos y chicas presentaban una mayor inclinación hacia las actitudes cooperativas frente a las competitivas. Por otro lado, se detectaron diferencias entre las categorías de minibasket (benjamín y alevín) y las categorías de baloncesto (infantil y cadete).Abstract. El objetivo de este trabajo fue diseñar y validar un cuestionario de satisfacción de los internos de los centros penitenciarios en los que la Fundación Real Madrid desarrolla programas deportivos. The promotion and encouragement of educational values in Real Madrid Foundation Social Sport Basketball Schools is one of the most important goals on which we have been working in recent years. The work project "For a Real Education: Values and Sport" includes several lines of action aimed at teachers, families and students. To assess the progress of students in relation to one of the educational content we try to promote, as for example, the socialization, we used the "GR-SIPPEL" scale (Ruiz, Graupera, Moreno and Rico, 2010), in which the following dimensions are evaluated: cooperation, competition, individualism and affiliation. The main objective of the study was to: describe the social interaction preferences of boys and girls in the youngest category (8-10 years) of Real Madrid Foundation Social Sport Basketball Schools. Participants who took part in the study were 129 male and female players (87 boys, 75.2%; and 42 girls, 24.8%). The overall descriptive analysis of the data showed that in general, higher values are reached in the dimensions of cooperation ( M = 3.368 , SD = 0.421 ) and affiliation ( M = 3.132 , SD = 0.548 ), while in the dimensions of competition (M = 2.351 , SD = 0.843 ) and individualism (M = 1.903 , SD = 0.680 ) had the lowest values.

The aim of this study was to analyze the implementation of a sports-educational program in prisons where the Real Madrid Foundation&rsquo, s Social-Sports Program is carried out. For that purpose, a survey of 468 inmates was conducted at 21 prisons in Spain where the Real Madrid Foundation implements its program (441 men (94.23%) and 27 women (5.77%)). Inmates stated that the program had had a favorable influence on their life in prison and considered that their participation in the program might have a significant influence on the likelihood of them continuing to play sports when they are released. In addition, inmates felt that they had learned a great deal about the contents relating to football and the values they had worked on, and that the program had had a very positive effect on their overall development as a person.

This paper analyses Maryse Conde’s I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem as a narrative of identity shaped by nomadism, exile, and intercultural encounters. I argue that Tituba’s constant movement challenges the rigid boundaries imposed by traditional forms of identification. This movement is not limited to space, since the narrative is cyclical and contrapuntal. Therefore, the psychological, spatial, and temporal wanderings of Tituba reveal a sense of being that is hybrid, in Bakhtinian terms. She transcends socially prescribed identities based on static conceptualizations of time, place, community, race, gender, and language. Tituba is what Bakhtin calls, “an act of becoming.” She affirms a dialogic and ever-changing sense of self, which is free from external and monologic narratives of identification.

This paper aims to contribute to a better understanding of the moral development in sports at school age. A fair play behaviours typology has been developed, arranged into five stages of ethical progress and performed by young athletes within the White Card programme at the Fundación Real Madrid (FRM) basketball schools. In order to ascertain its validity, descriptions of the behaviours were submitted to the coaches at the FRM (n = 18), and a group of experts in sports and values from the actual FRM (n = 6) in order to rate them on a scale from 1 to 5 depending on the moral value they attribute. The result obtained confirm, with few exceptions, the five proposed stages of progression. Ce travail a pour objet de contribuer à une meilleure compréhension du développement moral dans le sport à l’âge scolaire. Nous avons elaboré une typologie de conduites de fair play ordonnées en cinq niveaux de progression éthique et réalisées par de jeunes sportifs des écoles de basket de la fondation Real Madrid (FRM) dans son programme Carton Blanc (programa Tarjeta Blanca). Pour vérifier sa validité, les descriptions des conduites on été présentées aux entraîneurs de la FRM (n = 18) et à un groupe d’experts en sport et valeurs de la FRM (n = 6) elle-même pour les faire évaluer dans une échelle de 1 à 5 en fonction du mérite moral accordé. Le résultat obtenu, sauf pour de légères exceptions, confirme les cinq niveaux de progression proposés.

Competitive sport is one of the key contexts in the development of values through sport, given the very significant ambivalences and contradictions involved within sport. Since the 2008-09 season the Real Madrid Foundation has launched in its basketball schools an educational project of transmission of values called "For a REAL Education: Values and Sport", which has led to the development of different teaching materials including the "White Card" program, an educational resource that tries to encourage good sportsmanship and moral development of participants. The aim of this work is to analyze how useful the program is to both trainers and families. The program has been applied to 338, 356 and 334 players aged between 8 and 17, by 16, 15 and 18 teachers in 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons respectively. The methodology used in intervention has been action research and the instruments used for data collection were group discussion, questionnaire, survey and our own white cards given to players in tournaments. The assessment of this resource has been very positive from the coaches, and a high percentage, of parents of the young athletes.

El objetivo del presente estudio fue diseñar y aplicar un programa de intervención como modelo de práctica deportiva inclusiva, analizando el impacto que ejerce en la actitud hacia la discapacidad en chicos que no la tienen. Para ello, se puso en práctica el “Campus Inclusivo de Baloncesto”, organizado por la Fundación Real Madrid, como actividad deportiva inclusiva donde la práctica del baloncesto sirve de contexto para una práctica normalizadora, ya que a él asisten participantes con y sin discapacidad física. El diseño del estudio fue de tipo experimental, utilizando el "Cuestionario de actitudes hacia las personas con discapacidad" (Reina, López, Jiménez, García-Calvo, y Hutzler, 2011) aplicándolo antes de la intervención, después y pasados 9 meses de la misma, a los 21 participantes sin discapacidad (17 hombres y 4 mujeres), con edades comprendidas entre los 8 y los 14 años. Se aplicó la prueba de Wilcoxon y ANOVA de medidas repetidas, estableciendo el nivel de confianza en p≤0,05. Los resultados muestran que se registran cambios significativos en positivo tras la actividad a favor de la actitud hacia las personas con discapacidad, además de mantenerse dichos cambios en el tiempo. Por tanto, podemos afirmar que el diseño propuesto, llevado a cabo en este Campus Inclusivo de Baloncesto, se muestra eficaz a la hora de favorecer los beneficios de la inclusión en contextos de iniciación deportiva.AbstractThe aim of this study was to design and to implement an intervention program as a model of inclusive sport, analyzing its impact on the attitude towards disability in children who have no disability. For this purpose, was implemented the "Inclusive Basketball Campus", organized by the Real Madrid Foundation, where basketball as inclusive sport provides a context for normalizing practice, since to this activity is attended by participants with and without physical disabilities. The study design was experimental, using the "Survey of attitudes towards people with disabilities" (Reina, López, Jiménez, García-Calvo, & Hutzler, 2011) applying before intervention, just after intervention and 9 months later on a sample of 21 participants without disabilities (17 males and 4 females) aged between 8 and 14 were studied. Wilcoxon and ANOVA´s repeated test was applied, setting the confidence level at p≤0.05. The results show that there are significant changes after the activity in positive attitude changes towards people with disabilities, and these changes keep in time. Therefore, it can be stated that the proposed design, carried out in the Inclusive Campus Basketball, shown effective in promoting the benefits of inclusion in the context of initiation to sports.

La enseñanza y aprendizaje del baloncesto en las etapas de iniciación supone un doble reto para los entrenadores/as, dada la posibilidad de contribuir al incremento de los valores educativos de los deportistas, simultáneamente a su labor específica del baloncesto. La presencia de programas concretos, que ayuden a los entrenadores/as a transmitir valores educativos, puede ser muy importante, siempre y cuando sean programas asequibles y útiles en el ámbito del entrenamiento y la competición. En las Escuelas de Baloncesto de la Fundación Realmadrid, en el marco del proyecto denominado "Por una Educación REAL: Valores y Deporte", se ha creado un programa llamado "La Alineación de los Valores" con el fin de facilitar la labor educativa de los participantes. Se han elaborado unos cuadernos didácticos para uso de los entrenadores/as, los jugadores/as y sus familias. En la temporada 2011-12, los entrenadores/as que han utilizado los cuadernos didácticos como herramientas de trabajo, con diferentes equipos de categoría benjamín, alevín, infantil y cadete, han sido 17. Los resultados son positivos, puesto que: a) estos materiales didácticos han permitido incluir y estructurar adecuadamente determinados valores educativos en la programación táctica y técnica de los entrenadores/as durante la temporada; b) ha fomentado el diálogo y la reflexión de los participantes, tanto en los entrenamientos como en la competición; c) la puesta en práctica ha derivado a propuestas susceptibles de mejora para próximas temporadas.

Background and Purpose— Early hematoma growth is one of the main determinants of mortality in patients with intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). Transcranial duplex sonography (TDS) might represent a useful tool for the bedside monitoring of early ICH enlargement. We aimed to correlate ICH volumes measured by TDS and CT scan in patients with ICH evaluated Methods— We prospectively studied 34 patients with supratentorial ICH evaluated 20% in the hematoma volume at 6 hours. Results— ICH was identified on TDS as an hyperechogenic mass located in the basal ganglia in 28 patients and in the lobar position in 6. Mean hematoma volume at baseline was 86±4 5 mL. At 6 hours, early hematoma growth was seen in 9 (26%) patients. An excellent correlation was found between TDS and CT measurements for all diameters: longitudinal ( r =0.91, P r =0.85, P =0.002), coronal ( r =0.79, P =0.022) and for total hematoma volume ( r =0.82, P =0.001). When all obtained measures were matched, the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.888 (95% CI, 0.8 to 0.937). Conclusion— TDS showed an excellent correlation with CT in measuring the extent of bleeding in patients with hyperacute ICH. TDS may represent a reliable useful tool for monitoring ICH noninvasively at the patient’s bedside.

La competición en etapas de iniciación supone un excelente medio de aprendizaje para los jugadores/as, y una oportunidad magnífica de reforzar los conocimientos y actitudes transmitidas, para el profesorado. Por todo ello, desde las Escuelas de Baloncesto de la Fundación Realmadrid, y más concretamente desde el proyecto "Por una Educación REAL: Valores y Deporte" (Fundación Realmadrid, 2012), hemos centrado nuestros esfuerzos en elaborar una herramienta que nos permitiera aprovechar el potencial de la competición a nivel educativo. A través de nuestro modelo competitivo, que está basado en la demostración de buenas conductas y la aparición de valores positivos, decidimos implantar el programa Tarjeta Blanca. Este programa, que comenzó a desarrollarse en la temporada 2010-2011, consiste en una forma de reconocimiento a todos aquellos jugadores/as que demuestren actitudes y conductas positivas durante la propia competición. Nuestro objetivo es fomentar la aparición de esas conductas deseables, dando a conocer al alumnado cuáles de sus actos son dignos o merecedores de ser valorados positivamente. A su vez, creemos que con esta propuesta nuestros entrenadores/as también salen reforzados y esperamos que motivados, ya que estarán incentivados a observar y descubrir las conductas que pueden ser susceptibles de ser premiadas. Como dato más relevante deseamos mencionar que en la última edición del Torneo, se han premiado 308 conductas destacadas a nivel educativo sobre un total de 358 participantes, lo que demuestra la presencia y la relevancia del programa en nuestra competición.

During the optimization of the TP400D6 engine (powering the A400M military transport aircraft), the mechanical design of the Front Bearing Structure has proven to be one of the most challenging topics in the engine development programme. One of the leading technical subjects has been the design and optimization of the thermal anti-icing system of the component. When non-specific icing simulation software tools are available, the effect of the water impingement and runback water is difficult to simulate. The objective of this paper is to show one particular aspect learnt during the design and development phase of the project: the evaluation of the error obtained in the calculation of metal temperatures on an antiiced airfoil surface due to the effect of water impingement and runback water. TP400D6 engine front end arrangement consists of a single radial structure after the engine air intake performing both the structural and aerodynamic function, transmitting bearing and high propeller loads and being the compressor IGVs. The anti-icing system employs hot compressor bleed air circulating internally in the component through a series of internal channels and passages and exiting the airfoil through trailing edge holes. Due to airfoil aerodynamic constraints and material selection, it was realised in the earlier stages of the project that it was not possible to heat the whole vane profile up to the trailing edge. In consequence, the effects of the impingement water and runback of non-evaporated water from the intake and the IGV leading edge itself, play a key role on the determination of the airfoil surface temperature and potential ice accretion. Because of not having a specific icing simulation software, water impingement and runback water effects cannot be predicted with sufficient accuracy. During the engine programme’s development phase, a dedicated component antiicing rig test was conducted in order to evaluate and obtain a closer approximation of the real behaviour of the system. The scope of this paper is to go through the details of the aforementioned effect of icing water on airfoil surface temperature, focusing on the discrepancies between predicted temperatures and test rig measured temperatures. Typical thermal modelling is used, which incorporates the best possible understanding of the water particle impingement pattern onto the airfoils and flow lines distribution around the IGV profiles. Results from the rig test have been applied to the traditional thermal model in order to improve the thermal prediction simulation and understanding of the component.Copyright © 2008 by ASME

Con la intención de promover la enseñanza y aprendizaje del baloncesto desde una perspectiva educativa en las etapas de formación, las Escuelas de Baloncesto de la Fundación Real Madrid, a través del proyecto de investigación denominado “Por una Educación REAL: Valores y Deporte”, ha elaborado una serie de materiales didácticos que permitan ayudar a los entrenadores y jugadores a desarrollar la práctica del baloncesto en el mejor contexto educativo. Dichos materiales ofrecen a los entrenadores la posibilidad de mejorar su calidad como docentes, tanto en los entrenamientos como la competición, incluyendo los valores educativos en la práctica diaria, haciendo también partícipes a los jugadores y sus familias. El objetivo principal de este estudio, después de varias temporadas de desarrollo del proyecto, ha sido analizar el uso que los entrenadores hacen de los diferentes materiales didácticos. La población de estudio ha sido 15 entrenadores de la Escuelas de baloncesto de la Fundación Real Madrid, con una experiencia media de 4,7 años. Estos docentes han entrenado a un total de 580 jugadores y jugadoras de las categorías benjamín, alevín, infantil y cadete. El instrumento utilizado fue un cuestionario diseñado ex profeso con preguntas vinculadas al objetivo del estudio. Los resultados indican que el material más usado, por ser considerado muy útil, ha sido un libro-manual denominado “Iniciación al Valorcesto” (68%); le siguen el programa “Tarjeta Blanca” (41%) y el documento de “Evaluación Trimestral” (38,5%). ABSTRACT: : In order to promote the teaching and learning of basketball from an educational perspective in the formative stages, Real Madrid Foundation Basketball Schools, through the research project entitled “For a REAL Education: Values and Sport”, has developed a series of teaching materials available to assist coaches and players develop the practice of basketball in the best educational context. These materials offer coaches the opportunity to improve their quality as teachers, both in training and competition, including the educational values in daily practice, making also participants the players and their families. The main objective of this study, after several seasons of project development, has been analyzed the use that the coaches make from the different didactic materials. The study population was 15 basketball coaches from Real Madrid Foundation Basketball Schools, with an average experience of 4.7 years. These teachers have trained a total of 580 male and female players from the youngest categories, U10, U12, U14 and U16. The instrument used was a questionnaire designed expressly with questions related to the study objective. The results indicate that most used material, to be considered useful, it has been a manual book called “Introduction to Basketvalues” (68%); followed by the “White Card” program (41%) and the paper “Quarterly Player Assessment” (38.5%). Estes materiais oferecem aos treinadores a possibilidade de melhorar a sua qualidade como docentes, tanto nos treinos como a nível de competição, incluindo valores educativos na prática diária, envolvendo os jogadores e as suas famílias. O objetivo principal deste estudo, depois de várias temporadas no desenvolvimento do projeto, consiste em analisar o uso que os treinadores fazem dos diferentes materiais didáticos. A população visada foram 15 treinadores das Escolas de Basquetebol da Fundação Real Madrid, com uma experiência média de 4,7 anos. Estes docentes treinaram um total de 580 jogadores e jogadoras das categorias de Infantil, Iniciado, Juvenil e Júnior. Como instrumento utilizou-se um questionário desenhado ex profeso com perguntas vinculadas ao objetivo do estudo. Os resultados indicam que o material mais usado, por ser considerado muito útil, foi o livro-manual denominado de “Iniciação ao Basquetevalor” (68%); seguido do programa “Cartão Branco” (41%) e ao documento de “Avaliação Trimestral” (38,5%).
