This research is a causal study that examines the moderator role of parental exam anxiety in the relationship between eighth-grade students' exam anxiety and high school entrance exam success. Participants of the study consisted of a total of 353 eighth-grade students attending seven different middle schools in the North region of Türkiye. Personal Information Form, Test Anxiety Scale for Parents and Children were used as data collection tools. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficients were calculated for descriptive analysis of the data. Bootstrap method was used to estimate sampling distributions. In the study, 5000 bootstrap were used and the confidence intervals were determined as 95%. Analyses showed that parental exam anxiety played a moderator role in the relationship between children's exam anxiety and high school entrance exam scores.

No:3/9, [...], The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of group counseling program based on Cognitive-Behavioral Approach on the rumination levels of adolescents. Solomon Quadruple Model was applied in the study. Accordingly, in the study two control and two experimental groups, each consisting of 12 members, were formed. Experimental groups were provided psychological counseling with a group based on cognitive-behavioral approach for 8 weeks. No treatment was given to the control groups. The Rumination Scale Short Form (RS) was used data collection instrument. In accordance with the Solomon Quadruple Model, just one experimental and control group were pretested, while other two were not. Post-test was applied to all four groups. One months after the sessions were completed, the follow up measure was again applied to all four groups. Statistical analyzes revealed that the experimental groups had a significant decrease in the degree of brooding and reflection, rumination and sub-dimensions of rumination. It was also found that the results were independent of Maturation x Time interaction and Pretest effect. There was no statistically significant difference in the control groups. Therefore, based on the results, it can be said that the group counseling program with cognitive-behavioral approach is effective in decreasing the brooding and reflection levels of the rumination and rumination sub-dimensions of the adolescents. The findings were discussed in the light of the related literature and suggestions were made in relation to the results of the research.

Background: Menisci, one of the most important anatomical structures of the knee joint, plays a role in load transfer, stability, shock absorption, prevention of articular cartilage degeneration, and proprioception. Type I collagen, the main component of the meniscus, and type II collagen fibers play an important role in the stability of the knee joint. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Naturagen® 4 Joint product containing type I, II, and III collagen on pain, quality of life, and physical functions in patients with meniscopathy. Methods: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study included 32 patients (collagen = 17 and placebo = 15) with meniscopathy. Patients completed the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthrtis Index (WOMAC), Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score Physical Function Short Form (KOOS-PS), Oxford Knee Score (OKS), Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK), Short Form Health Survey (SF-12), Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS), Foot Function Index (FFI), proprioceptive sensation, Timed Up and Go (TUG), 6-Minute Walking Test (6MWT), The Five Repetition Sit to Stand Test (5STS), Stair Climbing Test (SCT), Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and back and leg strength tests and scales were applied. All tests were repeated before and after eight weeks of collagen supplementation. Results: The study showed that eight weeks of supplementation with various collagen types had statistically significant effects on pain, quality of life, kinesiophobia, and foot function scale scores in patients with meniscopathy (p < 0.05). Similarly, eight weeks of supplementation showed a statistically significant difference in leg strength (p = 0.057), but no significant difference was found in back strength, proprioception, balance, and various functional test results (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The results of the study showed that the eight-week collagen-based supplement had a positive effect on pain and quality of life levels and some functional test results in patients with meniscopathy. Longer-term studies and diversification of subject groups will help to understand better the effects of the product on meniscal tears and symptoms. Introduction: Vagal nerve stimulation (VNS) is used as an alternative treatment in drug-resistant epilepsy patients. Effects of VNS on the cardiac autonomic system are controversial. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between VNS parameters and heart rate variability (HRV) in epilepsy patients who underwent VNS treatment. Methods: Our study included 31 patients who underwent VNS for drug-resistant epilepsy. Patients were divided into groups according to response to VNS and VNS parameters. All patients underwent 24-h Holter ECG. Results: The mean age of 31 VNS-treated epilepsy patients included in the study was 33.87 ± 7.6 years. When patients were grouped according to VNS response, 25 patients were in the VNS responder group and six patients were in the VNS-nonresponder group. When comparing Holter parameters in the VNS responder and non-responder groups, the median HF was significantly lower in the VNS responder group. VNS duration and signal frequency had a positive effect on LF/HF, while output and off time had a negative effect on LF/HF. When ROC analysis was performed to determine the cut-off values of the parameters for the VNS-responsive state, the AUC value of the HF parameter was 0.780, which was statistically significant. The cut-off value to distinguish response to VNS was 156.9. Conclusion: In conclusion, the effects of VNS parameters on HRV parameters are quite complex. However, the conclusion is that VNS is a neuromodulation method that affects the autonomic system in a complex way. Different levels of VNS parameters may also contribute to this effect. The aim of this study was to examine the mediating role of social stigma in the relationship between the effects of traumas to which Syrian refugees have been exposed and their self-disclosure expectations. The study included 510 Syrians (218 women, 292 men) who sought refuge in Turkey since 2011. The analysis results of the path model in the study indicated that the created model had a perfect goodness of fit (χ2/df = 1.06, p =.371). Additionally, stigmatization was found to have a full mediating effect on anticipated utilities from hyperarousal and self-disclosure and a partial mediating effect on the anticipated risks of hyperarousal and self-disclosure. Stigmatization also exhibited no significant mediating effect on the avoidance and re-living sub-dimensions and utility and risk (GFI =.997, AGFI =.985, CFI = 1.0, and RMSEA =.011). It was observed that all components of PTSD had a negative relationship with self-disclosure utility expectations and a positive relationship with self-disclosure risk expectations. Consequently, it is evident that as the severity of traumatic experiences escalates, Syrian refugees perceive self-disclosure as increasingly risky. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The newly described bendopnea in heart failure (HF) is associated with increased cardiac filling pressures. The aim of the study was to show the effect of bendopnea follow-up on reaching optimal medical treatment doses in HF. Methods: A total of 413 patients were screened, and we included 203 patients with HF who were previously evaluated for bendopnea. Demographic data, presence or absence of bendopnea, medical history, laboratory findings, and medical treatments were evaluated. Optimal medical therapy target doses at baseline and 3rd month were compared in groups with and without bendopnea. Results: On admission, 64 patients (31.5%) had bendopnea. The rate of patients with bendopnea decreased in the 3rd month (n = 42, 20.7%). The proportion of patients who used at least 50% of the recommended medical treatment dose on admission and in the 3rd month was compared; angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor /angiotensin receptor blockers use increased from 40.6% to 71.9% in those with bendopnea (P = 0.013), from 56.1% to 81.3% in those without bendopnea (P < 0.001) and beta-blockers use increased from 28.2% to 60.9% in those with bendopnea (P = 0.042), from 31.6% to 69.8% in those without bendopnea (P < 0.001). However, aldosterone antagonists use decreased from 70.3% to 67.2% in those with bendopnea (P = 0.961), from 68.4 % to 64.1% in those without bendopnea (P = 0.334). Bendopnea was independently effective in achieving ACE-I/ARB target doses (OR: 0.359, CI 95%: 0.151-0.854, P = 0.020). Conclusion: Bendopnea follow-up in HF patients can provide a significant improvement in reaching the recommended treatment target doses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Objectives: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are common injuries with a high incidence among people with high physical activity levels. Therefore, ACL reconstruction (ACLR) is one of the most common surgical procedures performed in sports medicine. This study aims to compare the pre- and 6-month post-operative isokinetic knee strengths in healthy (HK) and ACL knees of patients who underwent semitendinous/gracilis (ST/G) ACLR. Materials and Methods: A retrospective cohort of 21 recreational athletes who underwent ST/G ACLR by the same surgeon were evaluated. The pre- and 6-month post-operative isokinetic knee extension (Ex) and flexion (Flx) strengths of the HK and ACLR patients were evaluated in a series consisting of three different angular velocities (60, 180 and 240°/s). Of all the findings, peak torque (PT) and hamstring/quadriceps (H/Q) parameters were evaluated. Results: There was a significant improvement in post-operative Lysholm, Tegner and IKDC scores compared to pre-operative scores (p < 0.05). There were significant differences in pre-operative and post-operative knee Ex and Flx strengths at angular velocities of 60°, 180° and 240°/s in both the ACLR and HK groups (p < 0.001). There was no significance at 240°/s Flx for ACLR (p > 0.05). As for H/Q ratios, there was a significant difference between pre- and post-operative values only at 60°/s angular velocity in both ACLR and HC (p < 0.005). Conclusions: The pre-operative and 6-month post-operative results of the ST/G ACLR showed that there was a high level of recovery, particularly in quadriceps strength, while the increase in strength was less in the hamstring. The significance observed at 60°/s in H/Q ratios was within normal ranges. It can be argued that the ST/G ACLR method is feasible for people with high physical activity levels and for athletes. Background: Silent cranial embolism due to carotid artery stenting has been demonstrated to cause dementia, cognitive decline, and even ischemic stroke. The purpose of this study was to compare the periprocedural asymptomatic cranial embolism rates of different stent designs used for extracranial carotid stenosis with diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging. Methods: A total of 507 consecutive patients who underwent carotid artery stenting at our center from December 2010 to June 2020 (mean age, 66.4 ± 9.5) were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were divided into 3 groups as open-cell stent (334 patients), closed-cell stent (102 patients), and hybrid-cell stent (71 patients) groups. Diffusionweighted magnetic resonance imaging was performed for the patients before and after carotid artery stenting and compared. The diffusion limitations of 3 stent groups on cranial diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging were compared with one another. Results: Periprocedural asymptomatic same-side microembolism, which was the primary endpoint of our study, was detected in 58 (17.4%) patients in the open-cell stent group, 6 (5.9%) patients in the closed-cell group, and 8 (11.3%) patients in the hybrid cell group, and overall in 72 (14.2%) patients. On diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging, periprocedural asymptomatic same-side cranial embolism was found to be statistically significantly higher in the open-cell group compared to the other two groups (P = .011). Conclusions: The result of this study showed us that the rate of same-side cranial embolism detected on cranial diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging after carotid artery stenting performed with open-cell stent was higher than those of the carotid artery stenting procedure performed with closed-cell and hybrid-cell stents.
