The stabilization of low-coordinate boron radicals is challenging, as they tend to form strong chemical bonds. Here the authors report the isolation and structural characterization of a dicoordinate boron radical featuring a π-donating amino and a π-accepting carbene ligand.

We report herein on the crystal structure and magnetic studies of a three-dimensional (3D) Ni(II)-chromate coordination polymer, [Ni(CrO4)(bpym)(H2O)]n (1; bpym = 5,5′-bipyrimidin), prepared by self-assembly of Ni(II) and chromate ions with a multi-N donor auxiliary ligands, bpym, through hydrothermal processes. The structure of 1 is composed of Ni(II)-CrO4 layers with [Ni3(μ3-CrO4)] triangular motifs, in which the Ni(II) centers are bridged by O′:O′:O′:μ3-CrO42− anions, and the resulting layers are further connected by twisted trans-μ2-N,N′-bpym auxiliary ligands to form a 3D pillar-layered network with an hms topology. The magnetic properties of compound 1 were illustrated by variable field and temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements. The findings reveal that compound 1 shows intralayer ferromagnetic interactions within Ni(II)-CrO4 layers, and furthers the 3D antiferromagnetic ordering in the resulting of interlayer antiferromagnetic couplings with a Néel temperature (TN) of 5.6 K. In addition, compound 1 shows the field-induced metamagnetic behavior at temperature below the TN.

Abstract A novel quinoidal thienoisoindigo (TII)‐containing small molecule family with dicyanomethylene end‐capping units and various alkyl chains is synthesized as n‐type organic small molecules for solution‐processable organic field effect transistors (OFETs). The molecular structure of the 2‐hexyldecyl substituted derivative, TIIQ‐b16, is determined via single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction and shows that the TIIQ core is planar and exhibits molecular layers stacked in a “face‐to‐face” arrangement with short core intermolecular distances of 3.28 Å. The very planar core structure, shortest intermolecular N···H distance (2.52 Å), existence of an intramolecular non‐bonded contact between sulfur and oxygen atom (S···O) of 2.80 Å, and a very low‐lying LUMO energy level of −4.16 eV suggest that TIIQ molecules should be electron transporting semiconductors. The physical, thermal, and electrochemical properties as well as OFET performance and thin film morphologies of these new TIIQs are systematically studied. Thus, air‐processed TIIQ‐b16 OFETs exhibit an electron mobility up to 2.54 cm2 V−1 s−1 with a current ON/OFF ratio of 105–106, which is the first demonstration of TII‐based small molecules exhibiting unipolar electron transport characteristics and enhanced ambient stability. These results indicate that construction of quinoidal molecule from TII moiety is a successful approach to enhance n‐type charge transport characteristics.

A mixed-ligands Cd(II) coordination polymer, [Cd(2,2’-bpe)(C4O4)(H2O)2] (1) (2,2’-bpe = 1,2-bis(2-pyridyl)ethylene; C4O42− = dianion of squaric acid), has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. The coordination environment of Cd(II) ions in compound 1 is six-coordinate bonded to four oxygen atoms from two μ1,3-squarate (C4O42−) and two water molecules, and two nitrogen atoms from two 2,2’-bpe ligands. The squarate and 2,2’-bpe both act as bridging ligands with bis-monodentate coordination modes, connecting the Cd(II) ions to form a two-dimensional (2D) layered metal-organic framework (MOF). Adjacent 2D layers are then arranged in an ABAB parallel non-interpenetrating manner to construct its three dimensional (3D) supramolecular network. Intra- and inter-layers hydrogen bonding interactions between the C4O42− and water molecules in 1 provide an extra-stabilization energy on the construction of its 3D supramolecular network. The thermal stability of 1 is studied and discussed in details by TG analysis and in-situ PXRD measurement.

Sponge-derived scalaranes are remarkable sesterterpenoids previously found to exhibit profound inhibitory effects against neutrophilic inflammation. In our current work, we constructed the metabolomic profile of marine sponge Lendenfeldia sp. for the first time using a tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) molecular networking approach. The results highlighted the rich chemical diversity of these scalaranes, motivating us to conduct further research to discover novel scalaranes targeting neutrophilic inflammation. MS- and NMR-assisted isolation and elucidation led to the discovery of seven new homoscalaranes, lendenfeldaranes K–Q (1–7), characterized by methylation at C-24, together with five known derivatives, lendenfeldarane B (8), 25-nor-24-methyl-12,24-dioxoscalar-16-en-22-oic acid (9), 24-methyl-12,24,25-trioxoscalar-16-en-22-oic acid (10), felixin B (11), and 23-hydroxy-20-methyldeoxoscalarin (12). Scalaranes 1–4 and 6–12 were assayed against superoxide anion generation and elastase release, which represented the neutrophilic inflammatory responses of respiratory burst and degranulation, respectively. The results indicated that 1–3 and 6–12 exhibited potential anti-inflammatory activities (IC50 for superoxide anion scavenging: 0.87~6.57 μM; IC50 for elastase release: 1.12~6.97 μM).

A three-dimensional (3D) polycatenation supramolecular network with chemical formulas, [Zn(bpp)(BDC)]·1.5H2O (1), (bpp = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane, BDC2− = dianion of terephthalic acid), was synthesized and structurally determined. In compound 1, the coordination geometry of Zn(II) ion is distorted tetrahedral, where its 2D undulated layered framework is constructed via the bridges of Zn(II) ions with bpp and BDC2− ligands. Adjacent 2D layers are arranged in a combined parallel and interpenetrated manner to complete its 3D polycatenation supramolecular architecture. Compound 1 shows a one-step dehydration process with the weight losses of 6.1%, approximately equal to the weight percentage of losing 1.5 guest water molecules. The cyclic thermogravimetric analysis reveals that compound 1 shows reversible, sponge-like water de-/adsorption behavior during de-/rehydration processes. Compound 1 also exhibits significant water vapor hysteresis isotherm.

Two cembranoids, including a new compound, lobocrassin I (1), as well as a known analogue, lobohedleolide (2), were obtained by solvent extraction from octocoral Lobophytum crassum. This study employed a spectroscopic approach to establish the structures of these two cembranoids, and utilized single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis to determine their absolute configurations. The results of biological activity assays demonstrated that cembranoid 2 exhibited bioactivity against the protein expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated RAW 264.7 mouse macrophage cells.

Briareum stechei is proven to be a rich source of 3,8-cyclized cembranoids (briarane) with a bicyclo[8.4.0] carbon core. In the present study, four previously unreported briaranes, briarenols W–Z (1–4), along with solenolide A (5), briarenolide M (6), briaexcavatolide F (7), and brianolide (8), were isolated and characterized through spectroscopic analysis, and the absolute configuration of 8 was corroborated by a single-crystal x-ray diffraction analysis. Briaranes 2 and 5 were found to induce significant inflammatory activity in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 mouse macrophage cells by enhancing the expression of the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) proteins.

Two coordination polymers (CPs), with chemical formulas {[Ni2(bpp)2(BT)(H2O)6] 1.5(EtOH) 1.5H2O}n (1) and [Zn(bpp)(BT)0.5]·5H2O (2) (bpp = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane, and BT4− = tetraanion of 1,2,4,5-Benzenetetracarboxylic acid), have been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. In compound 1, the coordination environments of two crystallographically independent Ni(II) ions are both distorted octahedral bonded to two nitrogen donors from two bpp ligands and four oxygen donors from one BT4- ligand and three water molecules. Both bpp and BT4− act as bridging ligands with bis-monodentate and 1,4-bis-monodentate coordination modes, respectively, connecting the Ni(II) ions to form a 2D layered metal-organic framework (MOF). Adjacent 2D layers are then arranged orderly in an ABAB manner to complete their 3D supramolecular architecture. In 2, the coordination environment of Zn(II) ion is distorted tetrahedral bonded to two nitrogen donors from two bpp ligands and two oxygen donors from two BT4− ligands. Both bpp and BT4- act as bridging ligands with bis-monodentate and 1,2,4,5-tetrakis-monodentate coordination modes, respectively, connecting the Zn(II) ions to form a 3D MOF. The reversible water de-/adsorption behavior of 1 between dehydrated and rehydrated forms has been verified by cyclic Thermogravimetric (TG) analyses through de-/rehydration processes. Compound 1 also exhibits significant water vapor hysteresis isotherms.

A two-dimensional (2D) coordination polymer, [Co(4-dpds)(bdc)(H2O)2]·4-dpds (1) (4-dpds = 4,4′-dipyridyldusulfide and bdc2− = dianion of benzenedicarboxylic acid), has been synthesized and structurally determined by single-crystal X-ray diffractometer. In 1, the bdc2− and 4-dpds both act as bridging ligands connecting the Co(II) ions to form a 2D wrinkled-like layered coordination polymer. Two wrinkled-like layered coordination polymers are mutually penetrated to generate a doubly interpenetrated framework, and then extended to its 3D architecture via the supramolecular forces between doubly interpenetrated 2D frameworks and free 4-dpds ligands by intermolecular O–H⋅⋅⋅N hydrogen bonding interaction. Crystal packing arrangements were characterized by fingerprint plots, which were derived from the Hirshfeld Surfaces analysis, and showed that intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions are the most important interactions on the construction of the crystal 1.

In a refluxing chloroform solution, the η1-pyrimidinyl {pyrimidinyl = C4H3N2} palladium complex [Pd(PPh3)2(η1-C4H3N2)(Br)], 1 exhibited intermolecular displacement of two triphenylphosphine ligands to form the doubly bridged η2-pyrimidinyl Dipalladium complex [Pd(PPh3)(Br)]2(μ,η2-C4H3N2)2, 3. The treatment of 1 with Hdppa {Hdppa = N,N-bisdiphenyl phosphinoamine} in refluxing dichloromethane yielded the doubly bridged Hdppa dipalladium complex [Pd(Br)]2(μ,η2-Hdppa)2, 4. Complex 1 reacted with the bidentate ligand, NH4S2CNC4H8 and, NaS2COEt, and the tridentate ligand, KTp {Tp = tris(pyrazoyl-1-yl)borate}, to form the η2-dithio η1-pyrimidinyl complex [Pd(PPh3)(η1-C4H3N2)(η2-SS)], (5: SS = S2CNC4H8; 6: SS = S2COEt) and η2-Tp η1-pyrimidinyl complex [Pd(PPh3)(η1-C4H3N2)(η2-Tp)], 7, respectively. Treatment of 1 with AgBF4 in acetonitrile at room temperature resulted in the formation of the doubly bridged η2-pyrimidinyl dipalladium complex [{Pd(PPh3)(CH3CN)}2(μ,η2-C4H3N2)2][BF4]2, 8. All of the complexes were identified using spectroscopic methods, and complexes 3, 4, and 8 were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses.

Two 11,20-epoxybriaranes, including a known compound, juncenolide K (1), as well as a new metabolite, fragilide X (2), have been isolated from gorgonian Junceella fragilis collected off the waters of Taiwan. The absolute configuration of juncenolide K (1) was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis for the first time in this study and the structure, including the absolute configuration of briarane 2 was established on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and compared with that of model compound 1. One aspect of the stereochemistry of the known compound 1 was revised. Briarane 2 was found to enhance the generation of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) release from RAW 264.7 cells.

In the title compound, C8H8N6, two imidazolyl groups are separated by a zigzag –CH=N—N=CH– linkage. An inversion center is located at the mid-point of the N—N single bond and the complete molecule is generated by symmetry. In the crystal, each molecule forms four N—H...N hydrogen bonds with two neighbouring molecules to constitute a one-dimensional ladder-like structure propagating along the a-axis direction.

Two coordination polymers (CPs) with chemical formulas, [Ho2(C4O4)2(C2O4)(H2O)8]·4H2O (1) and [Ho(C4O4)1.5(H2O)3] (2), (C4O42− = dianion of squaric acid, C2O42− = oxalate), have been synthesized and their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffractometer (XRD). In compound 1, the coordination environment of Ho(III) ion is eight-coordinate bonded to eight oxygen atoms from two squarate, one oxalate ligands and four water molecules. The squarates and oxalates both act as bridging ligands with μ1,2-bis-monodentate and bis-chelating coordination modes, respectively, connecting the Ho(III) ions to form a one-dimensional (1D) ladder-like framework. Adjacent ladders are interlinked via O−H⋅⋅⋅O hydrogen bonding interaction to form a hydrogen-bonded two-dimensional (2D) layered framework and then arranged orderly in an AAA manner to construct its three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular architecture. In compound 2, the coordination geometry of Ho(III) is square-antiprismatic eight coordinate bonded to eight oxygen atoms from five squarate ligands and three water molecules. The squarates act as bridging ligands with two coordination modes, μ1,2,3-trismonodentate and μ1,2-bis-monodentate, connecting the Ho(III) ions to form a 2D bi-layered framework. Adjacent 2D frameworks are then parallel stacked in an AAA manner to construct its 3D supramolecular architecture. Hydrogen bonding interactions between the squarate ligands and coordinated water molecules in 1 and 2 both play important roles on the construction of their 3D supramolecular assembly. Compounds 1 and 2 both show remarkable ligand-enhanced photo-induced color-changing behavior, with their pink crystals immediately turning to yellow crystals under UV light illumination.

Two ligands, 2,4-di-2-pyridyl-2,4-pentanediol (rD and mD), were employed to synthesize two Mn2 complexes, [Mn2(rD)2Br2] (1) and [Mn2(mD)2(H2O)2]Br2 (2). Compound 1 crystallized in a tetragonal space group, P41212, with a novel hamburger shaped structure. A detailed study indicated that compound 1 did not contain a metal−metal bond, but antiferromagnetic coupling was observed between the Mn(III) ions. Compound 2 crystallized in a monoclinic space group, C2/c, with one Mn(II) and the other with Mn(IV). The two manganese ions were bridged by two alkoxide ligands, resulting in ferromagnetic coupling. Magnetic property studies confirm the above assignments.

The crystal structure of a naturally occurring cyclic tetrapeptide cyclo(Gly-L-Ser-L-Pro-L-Glu) [cyclo(GSPE)] was obtained. The conformation of synthesized cyclo(GSPE) fixes the coordination to lead ion in a 1:1 ratio. This cyclo(GSPE)-Pb complex was constructed as an asymmetric 3D network in the crystalline state. The polymerization of a heavy metal ion with a rigid asymmetric cyclic tetrapeptide represents the first example of a new class of macrocyclic complexes.

An entangled composite compound, [Ni4(dpe)4(btc)2(Hbtc)(H2O)9]·3H2O (1), where H3btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid and dpe = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane, has been synthesized and structurally characterized. Single-crystal structural determination reveals that compound 1 consists of four coordination polymers (CPs), with two two-dimensional (2D) (4,4) layered metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) of [Ni(dpe)(Hbtc)(H2O)] and [Ni(dpe)(btc)(H2O)]− anion, and two one-dimensional (1D) polymeric chains of [Ni(dpe)(btc)(H2O)3]− anion and [Ni(dpe)(H2O)4]2+ cation, respectively. The three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular architecture of 1 is constructed via the inter-penetration of inter-digited, double-layered, 2D rectangle-grid MOFs by two 1D coordination polymeric chains, and tightly entangled together via the combination of inter-CPs π–π stacking and hydrogen bonding interactions. The ad-/de-sorption isotherms of 1 for water displays a hysteresis profile with a maximum adsorption of 17.66 water molecules of per molecule unit at relative P/P0 < 0.89. The reversible de-/re-hydration processes in 1 monitored by cyclic water de-/ad-sorption TG analysis and PXRD measurements evidence a sponge-like water de-/ad-sorption property associated with a thermal-induced solid-state structural transformation. The magnetic property of 1 suggests that the ferromagnetic coupling might refer to a stronger inter-Ni(II) interaction, which could be along the btc3− or Hbtc2− ligands; the antiferromagnetic coupling corresponding to the weaker inter-Ni(II) interactions, which could be the dpe ligands for the 2D framework.

A discrete complex [Zn(tpro)2(H2O)2] (1, Htpro = l-thioproline), and two structural isomers of coordination polymers, a 1D chain of [Zn(tpro)2]n (2) and a layered structure [Zn(tpro)2]n (3), were synthesized and characterized. The discrete complex 1 undergoes a temperature-driven structural transformation, leading to the formation of a 1D helical coordination polymer 2. Compound 3 is comprised of a 2D homochiral layer network with a (4,4) topology. These layers are mutually linked through hydrogen bonding interactions, resulting in the formation of a 3D network. When 1 is heated, it undergoes nearly complete conversion to the microcrystalline form, i.e., compound 2, which was confirmed by powder X-ray diffractions (PXRD). The carboxylate motifs could be activated after removing the coordinated water molecules by heating at temperatures of up to 150 °C, their orientations becoming distorted, after which, they attacked the activation sites of the Zn(II) centers, leading to the formation of a 1D helix. Moreover, a portion of the PXRD pattern of 1 was converted into the patterns corresponding to 2 and 3, and the ratio between 2 and 3 was precisely determined by the simulation study of in-situ synchrotron PXRD expriments. Consequently, such a 0D complex is capable of underdoing structural transformations and can be converted into 1D and/or 2D amino acid-based coordination polymers.

Two new three-dimensional (3D) Co(II)- and Cu(II)-azido frameworks, [Co2(N3)4(bpym)2]n (1) and [Cu2(N3)4(bpym)]n (2), were successfully synthesized by introducing a semi-flexible N-donor ligand, 5,5′-bipyrimidin (bpym), with different bridging modes and orientations. Compounds 1 and 2 were structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetry and elemental analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 are 3D pillared-layer frameworks with double end-on (EO) azido bridged dinuclear motifs, [M2(EO-N3)2]. In Compound 1, the bpym ligands show trans μ2-bridging mode and the role as pillars to connect the Co(II)-azido layers, composed of [Co2(EO-N3)2] motifs and single end-to-end (EE) azido bridges, to a 3D network with BN topology. In contrast, in 2, the bpym ligand adopts a twisted μ4-bridging mode, which not only connects the adjacent [Cu2(EO-N3)2] units to a layer, but also functions as a pillar for the layers of the 3D structure. The structural diversities between the two types of architectures can be attributed to the coordination geometry preference of the metal ions (octahedral for Co2+ and square pyramidal for Cu2+). Magnetic investigations revealed that Compound 1 exhibits ferromagnetic-like magnetic ordering due to spin canting with a critical temperature, TC = 33.0 K, and furthers the field-induced magnetic transitions of metamagnetism at temperatures below TC. Compound 2 shows an antiferromagnetic ordering with TN = 3.05 K and a field-induced magnetic transition of spin-flop at temperatures below the TN.

A 3D supramolecular network, [Cd(bipy)(C4O4)(H2O)2]·3H2O (1) (bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine and C4O42− = dianion of H2C4O4), constructed by mixed-ligand two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has been reported and structurally determined by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction method and characterized by other physicochemical methods. In 1, the C4O42− and bipy both act as bridging ligands connecting the Cd(II) ions to form a 2D layered MOF, which are then extended to a 3D supramolecular network via the mutually parallel and interpenetrating arrangements among the 2D-layered MOFs. Compound 1 shows a two-step dehydration process with weight losses of 11.0% and 7.3%, corresponding to the weight-loss of three guest and two coordinated water molecules, respectively, and exhibits an interesting reversible single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) structural transformation upon de-hydration and re-hydration for guest water molecules. The SCSC structural transformation have been demonstrated and monitored by single-crystal and X-ray powder diffraction, and thermogravimetic analysis studies.

4-Benzyl-1,2,4-triazin-3,5(2H,4H)-dione (3-benzyl-6-azauracil, 2), and 2,4-dibenzyl-1,2,4-triazin-3,5(2H,4H)-dione (1,3-dibenzyl-6-azauracil, 3) were synthesized by the reaction of 1,2,4-triazin-3,5(2H,4H)-dione (6-azauracil, 1) with benzyl bromide and potassium carbonate in dry acetone via the 18-crown-6-ether catalysis. In these reaction methods, we developed more convenient and efficient methodologies to afford compounds 2 and 3 in good yields. These compounds were characterized by 1H- and 13C-NMR, MS spectrum, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The structure of 2 was verified by 2D-NMR measurements, including gHSQC and gHMBC measurements. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiment indicated that compound 3, with the molecular formula C17H15N3O2, crystallized from a CH3OH/CH2Cl2 diffusion solvent system in a monoclinic space group P21/c with a = 13.7844(13), b = 8.5691(8), c = 13.0527(12) Å, β = 105.961(2)°, V = 1482.3(2) Å3, Z = 4, resulting in a density Dcalc of 1.314 g/cm3. The crystal structure of compound 3 is tightly stabilized by contact with five other molecules from the six short contacts formed by intermolecular C−O···H−Car, C−H···Car, and weakly π···π stacking interactions. The dihedral angle 31.90° is formed by the mean planes of the benzene rings of the N-2 and N-4 benzyl groups.

Assemblies of four three-dimensional (3D) mixed-ligand coordination polymers (CPs) having formulas, {[Zn2(bdc)2(4-bpdh)]·C2H5OH·2H2O}n (1), [Zn(bdc)(4-bpdh)]n (2), {[Zn2(bdc)2(4-bpdh)2]·(4-bpdh)}n (3), and {[Zn(bdc)(4-bpdh)]·C2H5OH}n (4) (bdc2− = dianion of 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid, 4-bpdh = 2,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-3,4-diaza-2,4-hexadiene) have been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. Structural determination reveals that the coordination numbers (geometry) of Zn(II) ions in 1, 2, 3, and 4 are five (distorted square-pyramidal (SP)), six (distorted octahedral (Oh)), five (trigonal-bipyramidal (TBP)), and four (tetrahedral (Td)), respectively, and are bridged by 4-bpdh with bis-monodentate coordination mode and bdc2− ligands with bis-bidentate in 1, chelating/bidentate in 2, bis-monodentate and bis-bidentate in 3, and bis-monodentate in 4, to generate two-fold interpenetrating 3D cube-like metal-organic framework (MOF) with pcu topology, non-interpenetrating 3D MOF, two-fold interpenetrating 3D rectangular-box-like MOF with pcu topology and five-fold interpenetrating diamondoid-like MOF with dia topology, respectively. These different intriguing architectures indicate that the coordination numbers and geometries of Zn(II) ions, coordination modes of bdc2− ligand, and guest molecules play important roles in the construction of MOFs and the formation of the structural topologies and interpenetrations. Thermal stabilities, and photoluminescence study of 1–4 were also studied in detail. The complexes exhibit ligands based photoluminescence properties at room temperature.

Ni(II) complexes of N,N'–di(pyrazin–2–yl)pyridine–2,6–diamine (H2dpzpda) with different anions were synthesized and their structures were determined by X-ray diffraction. Hydrogen bonds between the amino groups and anions assembled the mononuclear molecules into different architectures. The perchlorate complex had a 1-D chain structure, whereas switching the anion from perchlorate to nitrate resulted in a corresponding change of the supramolecular structure from 1-D to 3-D. When the nitrate complex packed with the co-crystallized water, a double chain structure was formed through hydrogen bonding. The magnetic studies revealed values of g = 2.14 and D = 3.11 cm-1 for [Ni(H2dpzpda)2](ClO4)2 (1) and g = 2.18 and D = 2.19 cm-1 for [Ni(H2dpzpda)2](NO3)2 (2), respectively.

Two novel coordination polymers with 3D metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been synthesized by reacting 1,4-bis(3-pyridyl)-2,3-diazo-1,3-butadiene (L) with zinc dichloride. Both compounds have the same repeating unit consisting of a distorted tetrahedral Zn(II) center coordinated by two chlorides and two pyridyl nitrogen atoms of two bridging bismonodentate L ligands, however, different structural conformations have been found, one forming a helical chain and the other producing a square-wave chain. The intermolecular C−H···Cl hydrogen bonds in 1 and 2 play important roles in the formation of three-dimensional coordination polymers. Compound 1 crystallized in an orthorhombic space group Pna21 with a = 7.9652(3), b = 21.4716(7), c = 8.2491(3)Å, V = 1410.81(9) Å 3 and Z = 4. Compound 2 crystallized in a monoclinic space group P21/n with a = 9.1752(3), b = 14.5976(4), c = 10.3666(3) Å , β = 98.231(2)°, V = 1374.16(7) Å 3 and Z = 4.

1-Allyl- (2) and 7-allyl-6-amino-3-methyl-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-f][1,2,4]triazin-8(7H)-one (3) were obtained via the 18-crown-6-ether catalyzed room temperature reactionof 6-amino-3-methyl-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-f][1,2,4]triazin-8(7H)-one (1) with potassiumcarbonate and allyl bromide in dry acetone. The structures of these two derivatives wereverified by 2D-NMR measurements, including gHSQC and gHMBC measurements. Theminor compound 2 may possess aromatic character. A single crystal X-ray diffractionexperiment indicated that the major compound 3 crystallizes from dimethyl sulfoxide in themonoclinic space group P21/n and its molecular structure includes an attached dimethylsulfoxide molecule, resulting in the molecular formula C10H16N6O2S. Molecular structuresof 3 are linked by extensive intermolecular N-H···N hydrogen bonding [graph set C 1 (7)]. 1Each molecule is attached to the dimethyl sulfoxide oxygen via N-H···O intermolecularhydrogen bonding. The structure is further stabilized by À-À stacking interactions.

The title compound 6-amino-3-benzylmercapto-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-f][1,2,4]-triazin-8(7H)-one (4), molecular formula C11H10N6OS, was obtained by the reaction of3-amino-2-benzyl-6-hydrazino-1,2,4-triazin-5(2H)-one (3) with carbon disulfide in awater/pyridine mixture. Compound 4 can also be synthesized by reacting6-amino-3(2H)mercapto-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-f][1,2,4]triazin-8(7H)-one (7) with benzylbromide in methanolic ammonia water. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinicspace group P21/c with a = 7.2926(15), b = 14.456(2), c = 11.436(2) Ã¥, β = 105.30(2)°, V= 1162.9(4) Ã¥3 and Z = 4, resulting in a density Dcalc of 1.567 g/cm3. Molecules of 4 arelinked by extensive intermolecular N-H···N and N-H···O hydrogen bonding [graph set R22 (9)]. The structure is further stabilized by À-À stacking interactions. 2

The title compound, (C4H10NO)2[CoCl4], is an ionic compound consisting of two protonated tetrahydro-1,4-oxazine (morpholine) cations and a [CoCl4]2− dianion. The CoII ion is in a tetrahedral coordination geometry. The cations exhibit chair-shaped conformations. A three-dimensional supramolecular architecture is formed through N—H...Cl and C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds between the dianions and the cations.

In the title complex, [PdBr(C4H3N2)(C18H15P)2], the geometry around the Pd atom is distorted square-planar with the Pd atom displaced by 0.0334 (14) Å from the BrP2C plane. The two Ph3P ligands are in trans positions, defining a P—Pd—P angle of 171.78 (5)°, while the pyrimidinyl and bromide ligands are trans to each other [C—Pd—Br = 174.63 (14)°].

In the title complex, [Mo(C7H5OS)Cl(C18H15P)2(CO)2], the geometry around the metal atom is a capped octahedron. The phenoxythiocarbonyl ligand coordinates the MoII atom through the C and S atoms. A one-dimensional structure is formed by π–π intermolecular interactions and a supramolecular aggregation is determined by intermolecular C—H...O, C—H...Cl, C—H...π(arene) hydrogen bonds and CO...π(arene) interactions [O...centroid distances = 3.485 (4) and 3.722 (3) Å].

The title compound, C11H18N2S4, was unexpectedly obtained during studies on the reactivity of the complex tris(acac-κ2O,O′)gallium(III) (acac is acetylacetonate) with C4H8NCS2H in dichloromethane. The title compound shows disordered two pyrrolidine rings with major and minor occupancies of 0.546 (4) and 0.454 (4). Two (pyrrolidin-1-yl)carbothioylsulfanyl units are linked together through a methylene C atom and weak C—H...S interactions are found.

In the title complex, [PdBr(C4H3N2)(C18H15P)2], the geometry around the PdII atom is distorted square-planar with the PdII atom displaced by 0.0150 (5) Å from the least-squares BrP2C plane. Two PPh3 ligands are in trans positions [P—Pd—P = 176.743 (17)°], while the pyrimidinyl ligand and Br atom are trans to one another [C—Pd—Br = 176.56 (5)°]. Structural parameters from NMR, IR and mass spectra are in agreement with the crystal structure of the title compound.

There are two independent molecules with similar configurations in the title complex, [Mo(C3H6NS)(C5H4NS)(C18H15P)(CO)2]. The geometry around the metal atom is that of a capped octahedron. The thiocabamoyl and pyridine-2-thiolate ligands coordinate to the molybdenum metal center through the C and S atoms, and N and S atoms, respectively. NMR, IR and MS analyses are in agreement with the structure of the title compound.
