The purpose of this study was to: 1) study the components and indicators of being quality organization of Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Department, in the Northeast, and 2) evaluate the suitability of the components and indicators of being quality organization of Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Department, in the Northeast. The phases were divided into 2: 1) studying documents and related works on the components of being quality organization and synthesize received data of components of being quality organization with 7 experts, and 2) evaluating the suitability of components and indicators of being quality organization employing suitability test verified by the experts on question details. The data analysis was by computer program using Rating Scale, Average, and Standard Deviation. The findings of the study were found that the components and indicators of being quality organization Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Department, in the Northeast contained 5 components and 43 indicators: 1) 9 indicators of quality learners, 2) 8 indicators of professional teachers, 3) 9 indicators of high-performance school, 4) 5 indicators of strategic management, 5) 8 indicators of community cooperation and the results of the overall evaluation of the components and indicators were at a higher level.

Background: Embracing the influential role of music in education, teachers can cultivate an environment that fosters learners' curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge. The first author, experienced in teaching Intermediate Phase music and mathematics, was keen to explore how to bridge the gap between the educational vision for 21st-century knowledge and skills and current teaching practices through the adoption of active music integration and appropriate pedagogy to full engage learners. Aim: The study aimed to explore how general teachers, with no previous formal music exposure perceived and engaged with the process of correlating concepts and learning experiences in music and mathematics. Setting: The research was conducted over nine weeks in three South African, Afrikaans-medium, middle-class governmental primary schools located in the Tshwane North district of the Gauteng province. Methods: This study employed a qualitative case study research approach and was situated within the pedagogical design of constructive alignment for effective teaching and learning. Results: The results underscore the significance of generalist teachers' ability to effectively incorporate music into mathematics lessons without extensive musical training or instrumental skills. Conclusion: The article challenges the notion that musical expertise is a prerequisite for integration, highlighting the fact that generalist teachers can successfully incorporate music into mathematics instruction by fostering meaningful connections between the two subjects. Contribution: This article draws attention to the importance of constructive alignment in promoting independent thinking and the practical application of knowledge. These findings offer guidance for the development of pedagogical frameworks and instructional practices that prioritise meaningful teaching and learning experiences.

This mixed-methods study utilized qualitative analysis and cross-tabulation, to identify differences in proportions between pre- and post-lesson plans for 16 secondary preservice general educators after having received instruction on UDL. Participants' lesson plans were qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated for the presence of UDL principles using the rubric of Spooner et al. (2007). In addition, types of strategies and tools were identified in participants' changes to post-lesson plans. The results of Fisher's exact test indicated there were no significant differences between pre- and post-lesson plan scores across the UDL principles of engagement, representation, and action and expression. Results indicated that instruction on UDL was beneficial for the 16 secondary preservice general educators in this study for developing inclusive lesson plan changes in the general education setting.

Despite extensive research on feedback models, there is still sparse empirical evidence of their validity and application in higher education learning settings, whether online, hybrid, or face-to-face. Understanding how a feedback framework--integrated in the instructional cycle--is perceived by the learners can provide empirical support about its intended purpose and effectiveness. Recent reviews of research on student perceptions of feedback in different learning environments have revealed the need to research feedback as a process with the use of a more solid methodological approach. The aim of the present descriptive survey study is to investigate learners' perceptions of an established feedback model, a Matrix of Feedback for Learning (Brooks et al., 2019), in the asynchronous online component of an undergraduate blended course. More specifically, the impact of its application on learners' encounters with three types of feedback (feed-up, feed-back and feed-forward) and three levels of feedback (task, process and self-regulatory) is explored. A 36-item survey, previously piloted and preliminarily validated, was used to explore learners' perceptions (N = 135) of the three feedback types and levels. Approximately 68% of responses showed that students recognized feedback and the possibilities to use and act on feedback as helpful to their learning. This present survey supports a line of research on feedback model validation in online learning environments while offering meaningful insights from the learners that can inform both course design and interventions to support engagement with feedback.

Student voice pedagogies in physical education (PE) offer teachers a mechanism to promote meaningful experiences by actively engaging students in decision-making regarding their learning. Over one academic year, the experiences of one generalist classroom teacher's enactment of student voice pedagogies in their primary PE practice were explored within a Self-Study of Teaching and Teacher Education Practice (S-STTEP) frame. Data sources included post-lesson personal reflections, a researcher journal, and transcripts from meetings with a critical friend. Qualitative data was also collected from students (n = 19) over a shorter timeframe of six months, and took the form of student work samples, along with transcripts from focus group interviews (n = 2, with eight total participants). Findings show that the enactment of student voice pedagogies requires significant scaffolding for both the teacher and their students. The teacher needs to learn how to listen to, nurture, and act on their students' voices, while students require assistance in developing their capacity to share their voices. Thus, the enactment of student voice pedagogies takes time, and necessitates a period of trial and error, to ensure the educator is providing authentic student voice opportunities in their practice. This study adds an additional layer to student voice research by providing a teacher's perspective of learning how to enact student voice pedagogies in PE. Furthermore, the findings add to the limited research into the use of student voice pedagogies at primary level.

This study used a short-term longitudinal design to test the social-cognitive model of career self-management's (CSM) theorized pathway in which exploratory actions mediate the association between career exploration self-efficacy and decisional outcomes. The study clarifies the role of exploratory actions in the decision-making process by distinguishing between self-exploration and environmental exploration. College students (N = 136; 77% female; mean age = 18.71 years [SD = 1.19]; 47% with undeclared majors) completed an online survey assessing self-efficacy for self-appraisal and self-efficacy for obtaining occupational information. A month later, they reported the frequency of their engagement in self-exploratory and environment-exploratory actions over the past month and completed measures of two decisional outcomes reflecting readiness to make career decisions (vocational identity and need for additional occupational information). The CSM's mediational pathway was supported with respect to self-exploration but not environmental exploration. I discuss implications for the CSM model and for career-development interventions.

Guided by the critical race theory and the social identity theory, the present study aimed to explore the impact that exposure to police brutality on social media has on Black college freshmen's perception of law enforcement and mental wellness. To explore this phenomenon, we conducted in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 20 Black college freshmen (age range: 18-20). Participant narratives were coded using a thematic analysis. Findings revealed that participants depicted police brutality on social media as racially driven, which yielded behavioral changes and negative psychological responses, such as sleep disturbances, anger, and fear. Further, the oversaturation of police violence in the media significantly altered the participants' views of the police and their practices. Our findings are consistent with previous literature concerned with the vicarious experiences of police brutality among youth and have implications for educators, counselors, and scholars.

Students identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) benefit from the implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) in all educational settings, including general education classrooms. Research indicates that EBPs are not consistently implemented across educational placements, nor are they always implemented with fidelity. One contextual factor that can influence successful EBP implementation is teacher attitudes toward an EBP. This study examined and compared the attitudes of general education and special education teachers toward EBPs. Study results suggest that special education teachers have more positive attitudes toward EBPs, while general education teachers are more likely to diverge from EBPs to support students with ASD. These findings have implications for improving the implementation of EBPs in both general and special education classrooms for students with disabilities, particularly students with ASD.

Colleges and universities have implemented a broad range of initiatives to support student success. Problem solving courses and course supplements are one approach. Evaluation of these courses has shown positive outcomes in terms of improved academic performance and other benefits. A number of these studies have also reported the largest positive effects with underperforming student groups. To further explore this approach a novel general education academic success course was developed. The course integrated a comprehensive problem-solving model into lectures and assignments as the basis of an active learning instructional strategy. Students were taught the model along with relevant academic skills content. They then applied the model to a personal challenge affecting their success in school and life. Using a matched cohort design, 826 course participants were compared with a campus-wide sample matched on key variables. Generalized linear models were used to estimate between group mean differences, and a Cox proportional hazards model was used to compare time to graduation. Results showed that students who successfully completed the course achieved higher cumulative GPAs overall compared with matched peers. Highest GPAs for students who took the course as freshmen suggested a transfer of knowledge over time. Results also showed that the course significantly benefited students from historically at-risk populations in terms of higher GPAs, units earned, retention, and graduation rates. This study shows that a well designed problem solving course can help students, especially those who struggle academically, to more effectively meet the challenges of college and daily life.

This study seeks to investigate the association between distinct tracks of secondary education--namely, vocational school (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan, SMK) and general school (Sekolah Menengah Atas, SMA)--and two key labor market outcomes: the duration required for graduates to attain their initial employment and their resilience in the face of pandemic, as measured by changes in average monthly income. While the former sheds light on the outcome under typical circumstances, the latter offers valuable insights into the outcome during periods of crisis. Focused on Indonesia, this research employs Heckman two-step model alongside ordinary least square (OLS) for the first outcome and ordered probit regression for the second. The research draws upon data extracted from the 2021 National Labor Force Survey (Survey Angkatan Kerja Nasional, SAKERNAS). Our results suggest that SMK provides an advantage in securing initial employment compared to SMA, with SMK graduates entering the workforce earlier than their counterparts. Moreover, in terms of resilience during the pandemic, as evidenced by changes in income, SMK graduates exhibit greater resilience, with a higher likelihood of maintaining or even increasing their income compared to SMA graduates. These findings offer valuable implications for both theoretical understanding and practical considerations.

Preservice mathematics teachers are sometimes trained in programs so that they have both their own courses and joint courses with mathematics majors from the beginning of their studies. While this is thought to provide them with both deep mathematical knowledge and teaching-specific content right from the start, many of them report disaffection with and disengagement from mathematics during their very first semester. Current approaches often frame this from an individual's perspective, investigating cognitive and affective individual differences among students. In contrast, we aim to understand this issue from a sociocultural perspective, examining underlying social processes. In this study, we thus explored preservice teachers' experiences of the mathematics component of their training, using Holland and colleagues' theory of figured worlds as a theoretical lens. Three group interviews with 14 preservice higher secondary teachers in a common mixed setting in Germany (one course specific to preservice teachers, one general mathematics course together with major students) were analyzed. Our findings displayed that the preservice teachers experienced two dichotomous figured worlds of mathematics and mathematics teaching. Our further analysis of their positioning between these worlds provided new insights to explain their disaffection, disengagement, and consequent learning behavior. We discuss practical implications, focusing on different teaching systems and interventions in teacher education.

In this convergent mixed methods design study, single-subject and qualitative data were collected concurrently to provide an in-depth picture of the impact of a modified schema-based instructional intervention. The intervention was delivered using instructional trials embedded across general education math lessons and a modified concrete-semi-concrete-abstract instructional sequence. This study investigated the impact of the intervention on the word-problem-solving, strategy use, and concept acquisition of three students with extensive support needs. The paraprofessional-delivered intervention was implemented in elementary general education mathematics classrooms using embedded instruction and focused on teaching students to solve addition and subtraction word-problems. Single-subject data indicated that all three students learned to solve word-problems given concrete materials but needed more time to master the use of semi concrete supports. Qualitative data indicated that students used taught and untaught strategies to solve word-problems, and mastered addition word-problems before subtraction when they were taught simultaneously. Data were integrated in narrative format to explore how strategy use and concept acquisition related to student word-problem-solving performance. Limitations and implications for research are discussed.

The present study investigates the devaluation of specialised teaching knowledge and the prioritisation of general education based on competencies and skills at the secondary level in Brazil. The dissolution of the curricular disciplinary organisation poses a risk to teaching identities, and understanding how teachers constitute epistemic and disciplinary communities is crucial. Public imposed policies that are distant from the reality of schools tend to be rejected by the agents involved in the school process. In Brazil, the "National Curriculum" Basis, a high school common core, is an example of a legal document that does not engage in dialogue with the cultural diversity in Brazil, while discredit the specific formation of teachers. From a historical approach, this research analyses the polysemy of school subjects towards the teacher's specialised identities. The methodological dispositive comprises narratives from specialist high school teachers in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Understanding how professionals organise themselves provides insight into the mechanisms of control and mediation in producing curriculum as socio-historical artifacts from power relationships and disputes. The struggle for control highlights the importance of teachers' agency in confrontation with neoliberal ideals for education and organising in subject or epistemic communities.

This study examined the use of a peer-mediated instruction and intervention (PMI) model combined with the use of a visual schedule as a way of supporting academic engagement and social interactions of secondary students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A multiple-baseline across participants design (Kazdin, 2011) was used to determine effects of the intervention on three high school students in general education settings. The results of this study showed positive outcomes for all three students' academic engagement and in social interactions for two of the three participants. Findings address the need for continued development of strategies in supporting links between academic and social skills in secondary students with ASD.

This study explored the prevalence of the null curriculum in the Ghanaian basic school education system. It also sought to identify the main reasons behind teachers' omission of specific topics or experiences from the basic school curriculum. Three hundred seventy-five basic school teachers from kindergarten, primary, and junior high schools participated in the study. A 32-item self-designed questionnaire was used to collect data for the analysis. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The study participants identified lack of resources, the problematic nature of some topics, insufficient time, and inadequate knowledge and skills as factors contributing to the prevalence of null curriculum in Ghanaian schools. The findings show that a null curriculum is prevalent in the Ghanaian basic education system. The study found no statistically significant difference between teacher characteristics (i.e., teacher status and grade level) and the reasons behind omitting some topics or experiences. Implications of the study findings for educational theory and practice are discussed.

Regarding the faults of the Japanese compulsory enrollment system, premised on attendance at a specific school, a forward-looking view must be taken on the guarantee of opportunities for general education via non-physical attendance (online attendance) in which physical attendance is not the default. At this time, municipal Boards of Education are called on to "promote the guarantee of diverse opportunities for general education" and "form public school networks," while prefectures must establish new councils and comprehensive support centers for a continuous guarantee during the school age across a broad area in cooperation with municipalities. Given that school leadership styles are linked to educational outcomes, this study attempted to identify perceived leadership styles of school leaders in two types of schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE): (a) international special education schools, which serve exclusively students with disabilities and (b) international general education schools, which serve primarily typically developing students. By utilizing primarily quantitative methods with supplementary qualitative analysis, this study also explored the influence of teacher demographic variables on perceptions of leadership styles. Results indicated a difference in perceptions of transformational and transactional leadership by school type based on teacher education level, as well as a difference in perceptions of passive-avoidant leadership by school type based on total years of experience with the school leader. Results also indicated a difference in leadership perceptions based on teacher nationality (consistent with the notions of collectivist and individualist cultures), total years of experience, and total years of experience in the current position. This study contributes to the knowledge base regarding the influence of teacher demographic variables on leadership perceptions while providing practical recommendations for school leaders and researchers, including professional development, school policy development, and conceptualizing culture as an expanded demographic variable of interest.

Because of the scattered pieces of documents both in Khmer and English about the education systems in Cambodia from the prehistoric period to the present, we have tried to collect all the related documents to review and then combined them into one piece. The combined piece from this review makes it a lot easier for all the researchers and readers who want to know about the education system in Cambodia from the past to the present since the piece has highlighted all the stages of the education process in Cambodia along with the review from the look into the history of Cambodia. This article also looks into the future of the education strategic plan (ESP) in Cambodia based on the policy of the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and ESP put forth by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS).

Purpose: This research is an interview-based study that captures the academics' perspectives toward the planning and design of an interdisciplinary General Education Curriculum for undergraduate students in the Chinese context, using the Common Core Curriculum at the University of Hong Kong as a case study. Design/Approach/Methods: A total of 28 academics with various levels of academic ranking, disciplinary context, proven teaching excellence, and research productivities were individually invited for and consented to a semi-structured and face-to-face interview. Findings: This article suggests four fundamental and interrelated dimensions for consideration when structuring an interdisciplinary General Education Curriculum, namely, how to design, what is worth learning, how to learn and teach, and how to know students have learned. It is suggested that the ideal curriculum should remain coherent and coordinated, broad and balanced, as well as open and flexible, ensuring the capture of knowledge, skills, and attitudes, with the facilitation of active, authentic, and contextualized pedagogies and assessments. Originality/Value: This article has the potential of providing insight for policymakers and educators around the world to better structure an interdisciplinary General Education Curriculum by creating an overall springboard for future discussion. They can also integrate these evidence-based elements and strategies into their everyday practices.

Metacognitive awareness is said to be reflected by self-confidence scores, and there exists a mutual relationship between them. This study was conducted to examine the role of self-confidence in predicting metacognitive awareness in high school students and to examine whether gender, grade point average, type of high school and father's education level played a role in this relationship. The data were obtained from 390 high school students studying at two different types of high school (general and vocational) using two different scales. Research data were analyzed through hierarchical regression analysis method to determine the predictiveness. Results showed (i) the metacognitive awareness scores were moderately and highly correlated with the self-confidence level total score and sub-dimension scores; (ii) participants' self-confidence scores explained 46% of the change in metacognitive awareness scores; (iii) the type of high school and grade point average had 9% effect on metacognitive awareness scores. It is recommended to examine the relationships of metacognitive awareness and self-confidence with different variables and to conduct experimental studies. The co-development of metacognitive awareness and self-confidence in students should be emphasized by families and educators. It is thought that the current study will be useful in relation to its results for understanding the importance of self-confidence and metacognitive awareness of high school and of those at other levels.

Lifelong learning has become an important keyword in international research and studies because of its increasing impact on educational policies globally. One of the important goals of education systems worldwide is lifelong learning. The research method is descriptive-analytical. Data collection is in the form of extracting data from Adler's books, the second category of resources related to the Paidia curriculum. The method of data analysis was classification and interpretation, which was done simultaneously with data collection. In this descriptive-analytical study, Mortimer Adler's educational thinking has been analyzed in the context of Paideia, and the relationship between public education and continuous learning has been examined. According to the research findings, according to Adler, the public education curriculum underpins lifelong learning, and after school education, any failure in lifelong learning constitutes a failure in public education, while continuing learning. It can improve the health of students in adulthood. On the other hand, vocational education has no place in the Paideia curriculum. If, in the light of the critique of the plan, a stronger foundation for lifelong learning can be hoped for, given the place of work and profession in the field of public education. It is recommended that in future research, researchers compare Adler's perspective on continuous learning with other thinkers. One of the most important limitations of the current research was the lack of access to schools that were designed based on the Paidia program. Another suggestion for future research is to examine the schools that have been established based on the Paidia program and study the continuous learning process in them.

This study aimed to assess the reading curriculum in Philippine basic education. It specifically focused on determining the reading competencies, the approaches in reading instruction and assessments before and during COVID-19, and the alignment of the written and intended to the implemented and assessed curriculum. This qualitative research employed the following data gathering techniques: document analysis, online focus group discussion, and constructive alignment checklist. Findings reveal that the basic education curriculum includes reading competencies categorized into text processing and task management competencies. In terms of the reading levels, it was found that there are more instructional readers than independent readers in basic education. Further, a number of students from different year levels, including in the secondary level, were also found to be non-readers. Regarding the approaches to reading instruction and assessment, the approaches were more extensive, varied, and teacher-directed before the COVID-19 pandemic involving class and group dynamics, while in the new normal, teachers employed self-paced/independent reading using printed modules and a few digital reading resources. Finally, the curriculum assessment reveals that there is generally a low alignment between the written, assessed, and delivered curriculum in reading. This implies that there are learning outcomes specified in the K-12 curriculum guide that have not been processed and assessed by teachers.

This study examines teachers' attitudes towards parental involvement in five areas: general attitudes, passive involvement in the educational process, active involvement in the educational process, giving and receiving services, and school policy. The study mainly aimed to establish what the differences are, if any, between the attitudes of special education teachers and those of general education teachers towards these parental involvement areas. It also examined the correlation between spheres of involvement and teachers' background variables (age, seniority, academic level). The sample consisted of 157 teachers: 71 special education teachers, and 86 general education teachers. Teachers were asked to complete a questionnaire and to indicate desired areas of involvement as well as positive and negative experiences of parental involvement. Significant differences were found between the two research groups in all five areas of involvement. General education teachers had more positive attitudes towards parental involvement than special education teachers. The study highlights the importance of enhancing communication between teachers and parents, especially between special education teachers and parents.

The incidence of consumption on Facebook around the world and its implications for university students is something that has necessarily been studied in the scientific literature (Gil-Flores, De Besa-Gutierrez & Garzón-Umerenkova, 2019). Fewer and far between are works focused on the study of social networks and academic procrastination in a population, particularly with a non-traditional teaching methodology (General Studies), even though this knowledge would allow us to obtain a profile of university students and identify their possible actions that could derive in academic problems. As a matter of fact, its importance has enabled the present study to analyze the relationship between the motivations for using Facebook and academic procrastination, and consequently determine the resulting correlation with certain indicators of use, satisfaction with Facebook and academic procrastination. For this purpose, the Facebook Usage Questionnaire was used (Igartua & Rodríguez de Dios, 2016), in addition to the Academic Procrastination Scale (Domínguez-Lara, Villegas & Centeno, 2014), with a sample of 150 students in their first year at a public university. In this manner, the results agree, showing a clear relationship between the motivations of "entertainment" and "virtual community" with moderate levels of procrastination, corresponding to greater implication with this social network. Significant differences in terms of gender and age are shown, which allows for a better understanding of the behavior pattern of these variables.

Proper management is vital in the achievement of an organization's vision and sustainability. Several researches have shown that one management style, micromanagement, has been receiving particular attention in the corporate world due to its notoriety. Micromanagement tends to control the employees in almost all aspects; igniting employee frustration which leads to adverse effect in the company by and large. Results of micromanagement include suppressed creativity, low morale of employees and an increase in employee turnover. However, some authors argue the significance of micromanagement in specific circumstances. Thus, this study is aimed at identifying the level of effectivity of micromanagement as it relates to teachers and middle managers in the academic sector in terms of the following: compliance, productivity, competence, and job satisfaction. The study used descriptive correlational design. The researcher employed a complete census of the respondents. These are teachers and middle managers in the Basic Education Department who are from the kindergarten, elementary, junior high school and senior high school levels, with 48 teachers and 12 middle managers respectively. Findings of the study signify that micromanagement is effective in promoting compliance and productivity, moderately effective in terms of competence, and slightly ineffective when it comes to job satisfaction. Furthermore, the study also yielded no significant difference when the respondents are grouped according to profile. Similarly, there is no significant difference between the teachers and middle managers on the level of effectivity of micromanagement on this basis, it is recommended that middle managers must reconcile the use of micromanagement to uphold compliance and productivity without neglecting the teachers' competence and job satisfaction.

We triangulated self-assessments of learning, course grades, and course evaluations from 28 students in a general education class to examine the effects of group work and perceptions of utility on learning, investigating three hypotheses: 1) self-assessments of learning provide triangulating information that deepens interpretations of traditional assessments; 2) group experiences influence students' views of the course's utility value; 3) students who believe the course has high utility value will learn more than students who believe the course has low utility value. We found support for all hypotheses. Triangulating information about learning provided a more nuanced understanding of learning than any single source did in isolation. Group work was associated with beliefs that the class was professionally useful. Stronger academic performance was present for students who believed the class was professionally useful, or reported more different types of class utility value. We discuss the implications of these findings for teaching and assessment of student learning.

To cultivate the acceptance of the co-teaching model among preservice teachers, two of the education faculty at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, have incorporated co-teaching in several field-based literacy courses. Alongside experiencing co-teaching from their professors, preservice teachers are also provided with the opportunity to practice co-teaching through a partnership with a local early childhood campus in an Emergent Literacy course. This approach promotes student proficiency in an inclusive early childhood setting and provides a model for preservice teachers to implement when they later encounter opportunities for co-teaching in an inclusive classroom environment. By learning the skills to engage in co-teaching through various field-based literacy courses, preservice teachers are equipped to enter their future classrooms as collaborative professionals capable of delivering high-quality education to both general education and special education students.

Capacity to teach the arts is a problem reported by many teachers in primary (elementary) school settings in Australia. This paper reports on research which explored how to build primary school teachers' capacity in arts-based pedagogy. It outlines the design and development of a co-mentoring program between arts mentor practitioners and generalist primary school teachers which used an Arts Immersion approach. The findings of this research reveal the effectiveness of co-mentoring as an approach to support professional learning in arts education, and the use of an Arts Immersion approach to improve teachers' capacity in planning, facilitating, and assessing authentic arts experiences.

Digital society presents a significant challenge to human life skills, particularly for Generation Z, which is pursuing higher education and work. Thus, undergraduate programs should enhance curricula and teaching-learning models to foster digital citizenship, supporting students in an ever-evolving digital world. The purpose of this research is to explore university students' digital learning skills and analyze 21st-century digital citizenship models. The study used a quantitative methodology, which included a questionnaire survey administered to 434 individuals, encompassing both current state university students and alumni. A structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze the study data. The study findings reveal that digital expression behavior consisted of two characteristics: identity and outstanding and appropriate participation. The digital citizen feature comprised three characteristics: digital manners, creative use, and digital intelligence. Overall, digital excellence traits were at a high-level average in digital transactions (e.g., money transfers, online product buying and selling, subscription, contract agreements, etc.). An effective 21st-century digital citizenship model comprises three key factors: outstanding and appropriate participation, digital etiquette, and creative utilization, all of which positively impact digital excellence.

To understand retention, evaluation of guided pathways implementation is an important tool. In an effort to help students succeed, colleges often give students a specified set of core courses and a specific or even prescribed pathway to complete their general education requirements. Retention efforts are always a topic with administrators at community colleges across the United States. The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) incorporated GP into retention efforts in the fall of 2015. Over the past 4 years, CCBC has incorporated more activities focusing on increasing knowledge about GP. The pathways are Arts; Business, Law and Education; General Studies; Humanities and Social Sciences; Science and Health Careers; and Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Vincent Tinto's framework is often presumed to be inappropriate to the study of student persistence at community colleges because social integration is considered unlikely to occur for students at these institutions. Community college students are thought to not have the time to participate in activities like attending concerts, joining clubs, or exploring art galleries that would facilitate social integration. This study examines student and faculty perceptions of GP at CCBC and whether they help with retention of the students for sequential semesters. I interviewed students who were enrolled in English 101 for the first time starting in the fall of 2015 through 2018. I also interviewed full-time faculty who taught English 101 on the same campus.

Preparation to serve multilingual learners is often required for P-12 teacher certification. Teachers come to this preparation with varied experiences and urgent needs to better serve their students. When teacher preparation courses use a one-size-fits-all approach to satisfy certification requirements, teachers may not find learning meaningful to their current context. Further, without common mechanisms for sharing resources produced through teacher preparation, each novice teacher starts assignments from the beginning rather than learning from, and building upon, previous assignments of peers. Reusable teacher preparation assignments through open education pedagogy (OEP) may address the challenges of providing collaborative, relevant, and optimally challenging state-mandated teacher preparation. However, personalized learning may not be aligned with university course evaluations. Thus, faculty members may be concerned about the impact of personalization on student course evaluations. This exploratory study examined personalization and OEP in a required, graduate-level teacher preparation course by analyzing assignment completion data to explore teacher personalized learning paths and comparing standard university course evaluation items from four course runs pre- and post-personalization (N=230). Descriptive analyses illustrate negative changes in teacher evaluation of course organization, feedback timeliness, and time spent outside of class. Teacher satisfaction increased in the areas of diversity, use of technology, access, and online discussions. Results from examining personalized paths and course satisfaction provide recommendations for designing personalized teacher preparation.

In contemporary society, constant dynamic change presents a challenge that should be perceived as a determinant factor leading to progress. The aim of this study was to explore the extent to which educational practitioners in general education institutions in Latvia are prepared for change. Additionally, the study seeks to identify the main enabling factors and obstacles in implementing the "School as a Learning Organisation" (SLO) model in general education in Latvia. That was achieved through quantitative data analysis from various perspectives, such as comparing data based on the type and size of educational institutions, as well as the positions and seniority of employees. Research data were collected using a web-based survey designed and maintained through QuestionPro. The final analytic sample comprised 671 respondents from 62 general education institutions in Latvia. The research results revealed that educational practitioners in Latvia, including leading, teaching, and supporting staff from general education institutions, are open to changes, new practices, and innovations. However, there were exceptions influenced by the educational practitioners' seniority and position, institution size, and type. These factors could both positively and negatively predict employees' attitudes towards change. A positive attitude towards change among teaching staff is a crucial element for the successful implementation of educational reforms in Latvia, such as the adoption of the SLO model. To foster a positive organizational culture, school leaders must provide supportive and transformative leadership, which is crucial for employees' positive attitude towards change.

With a conviction that general education should play a significant role in fostering the positive development of university students' character, several educators integrated various activities that could contribute to such development into general education courses in a technical university in Taiwan. This study surveyed the takers and non-takers of those courses and compared the differences in the scores of eight aspects of character development between the two groups of students. Results revealed that the implemented courses brought up small gains, particularly for male students in the second year, in most of the aspects including "logic and innovation," "social practices," "citizenship," "growth in learning," and "proactiveness and autonomy." Female students were found to score significantly higher than male counterparts in all of the aspects and the scores of most aspects exhibited a declining trend with the increasing university years. These results were discussed from the perspectives of the teaching strategies advantageous for character development as well as the mental difference between first-year and third- or fourth-year students.

This study delves into the transformations within the Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) education system over time and their implications for the learning methods employed by students. Guided by a case study research design with a descriptive qualitative approach, this research focuses on two of the oldest Islamic boarding schools: Tegalsari Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School and Jamsaren Solo Islamic Boarding School. Key participants, comprising leaders and administrators well-versed in the history and evolution of pesantren education and learning systems since their inception, serve as the primary data sources. The findings are structured into three parts. The initial segment unveils that Tegalsari Ponorogo pesantren originally functioned as a center for non-formal education, characteristic of Salafi pesantren. As time progressed, the establishment of Modern Darussalam pesantren introduced contemporary formal education with regular and intensive programs, marking a departure from traditional non-formal education associated with Salafi pesantren. In the second part, the study highlights the evolution of Jamsaren Solo pesantren education, which transitioned from classical education methods to a modern formal education approach employing a classroom system. The third part elucidates that the transformation in pesantren education has contributed to a reduction in the learning gap. Students now acquire not only religious knowledge but also a range of general disciplines, leading to notable achievements. In summary, the educational transformation has impacted the learning system, facilitating the acquisition of knowledge and skills relevant to contemporary times. The study underscores the need for collaboration between the government and pesantren leaders to fortify the pesantren education system. This collaboration aims to cultivate Indonesian pesantren capable of producing young professionals who contribute significantly to the nation, religion, and state.

Following the institution's strategic goal to make it an affordable campus, institutional administrators advocated using open educational resources (OERs) to reduce the cost of attendance and improve low retention rates in gateway courses. In this project, researchers invited faculty members to systematically design, develop, and deliver three general education (GED) courses with OERs to promote and test innovative pedagogical approaches for student success and retention. The project also aims to enable students to complete and earn their degrees seamlessly and affordably. The purpose of this paper is to describe the initiative, disseminate information to instructors, administrators, and other scholars on the effective practices to integrate OERs into GED courses, and show the effectiveness of OERs in increasing students' learning experiences, instructors' teaching experiences, and student retention.

Higher education institutions strive to turn out graduates that are well-rounded, engaged, and civic-minded individuals no matter their discipline or major. The authors believe that more can be done to ensure that this goal is attained. To address this issue, two librarians designed a learner-centered course that embraced the uncertainty found in today's information landscape through the use of dialog, questioning, and reflection. This article will describe the social and educational atmosphere at colleges that necessitates looking deeper into how and why colleges and universities need to build these new types of courses to meet their goals. From there, it will move into describing the foundational concepts that the class is built on which include Socratic discussion, team teaching, and a learner-centered classroom. It will also describe the specific methods, assignments, and goals used within so other educators may apply the course to their own institution. Marshall McLuhan's "Understanding Media," famous for its aphorisms, is the course's foundational text and primed the class for discussion and questioning throughout the course. Discussion and questioning are seen as two of the keys to educating the next generation to be able to not only survive but thrive in the 21st century.

The primary objective of the present study was to comprehensively evaluate the utilization, requisites, and contentment associated with the implementation of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) system in general education courses at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya. Furthermore, a comparative analysis was conducted to examine potential variations in usage status, requirements, and satisfaction among different demographic groups, including gender, age, year of study, campus, and faculty. A meticulously designed questionnaire was administered to a sample of 279 students selected by stratified random sampling. The findings unequivocally demonstrate the educational advantages of employing the MOOC system, underscoring its effectiveness in augmenting participants' learning experiences. The study unequivocally identified accessibility, interaction, independence, collaborative learning, learning resources, and teaching methods as pivotal prerequisites for an optimal MOOC system. Moreover, the overall level of contentment among the participants was consistently high. Significantly, the faculty variable exhibited a substantial influence on satisfaction with the MOOC system. This notable disparity in satisfaction may be ascribed to the distinctive learning characteristics, technological proficiency, and educational backgrounds prevalent across diverse faculties. The outcomes of this study make a valuable contribution to the existing body of literature by highlighting the significance of customizing MOOC systems to align with the specific requirements and preferences of students within distinct faculties. Future research endeavors should concentrate on exploring faculty-specific features and devising targeted strategies to optimize satisfaction levels and learning outcomes within MOOC-based educational environments.

This study examined the level of social communication problems (SCP), social anxiety (SA), and mood problems (MP) among children with ASD (age 4-13 years) enrolled in special classes (n = 74) and regular classes (n = 73) and grade level (kindergarten, 1st-3rd, 4th-6th) from teachers' perspective in schools of Palestinian Arabs in Israel. Teachers responded to three questionnaires about (1) SCP, (2) SA and (3) MP; the teachers' responses to the questionnaires were used to answer the research questions. Results: SCP, SA and MP were of medium rates for students with ASD enrolled in regular and special classes. No significant differences in the level of SCP could be attributed to class type (Regular, Special) or the grade level (kindergarten, 1st-3rd, 4th-6th). There were significant differences in SA levels that could be attributed to grade level in favor of the 4th-6th grades but there were no significant differences according to class type (Regular, Special). There were statistically significant differences in MP levels that could be attributed to the class type in favor of special classes, and the effect of grade level was not significant. There was a direct significant relationship between SCP, SA, and MP. Conclusion: SCP may be an important risk factor for the development of SA and MP among students with ASD, which lead us to incorporating social skills interventions by educational staff to alleviate or even prevent symptoms of SA and MP among students with ASD, which supports the view of inclusion

The implementation of inclusive education continues to pose challenges to teachers world-wide and Botswana is no exception. This study aimed to explore the teaching competencies general education teachers in Botswana primary schools perceived as important to their teaching in inclusive classrooms. Using a quantitative research approach, 116 general education primary school teachers completed a 14-Item questionnaire titled Perceived Competencies for Inclusive Teaching Scale, and an open-ended question about the supportive resources they required to be effective in their classrooms. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA and t-tests were used to analyse the data. The results of this study showed that participants identified adaptive instructional competencies (including setting curricula goals, modifying learning content and teaching to the different learning styles of students) as most important. Human resources (teacher aides, specialist teachers,) followed by material resources were seen to be key support resources required for them to be able to implement IE. This study could be used as a baseline for future research on key competencies and resources for primary school teachers for inclusive education.
