- Abstract
This study examines the impact of integrating the Project-Based Learning (PBL) teaching method into the curriculum of the "Statistical Methods in Economics and Business" course. The approach involved students creating videos that tested economic and/or social hypotheses using the statistical techniques learned during the course. The primary objective was to cultivate a crucial yet often overlooked skill within the curriculum: the effective communication of information, ideas, problems, and solutions to a non-specialized audience. The video project aimed to challenge students to articulate the learned statistical methods in a straightforward manner, while preserving the core message. This approach aligns with prospective scenarios where graduates, functioning as professionals, must advise clients and managers on technical subjects without assuming prior advanced statistical knowledge. Our results indicate a significant preference among participants for producing informative videos instead of conventional presentations. Students found that this approach contributed to a deeper assimilation of statistical concepts and enhanced their capacity for synthesis. These videos were presented to first-year students in a dedicated session. Attendees reported that the activity facilitated engagement with realworld problems, showcasing the practical utility of their academic knowledge and subsequently boosting their motivation to pursue further studies., En este trabajo se analiza el impacto de implementar la metodología docente Aprendizaje Basado en Proyectos en la asignatura “Métodos Estadísticos en Economía y Empresa”.

- Abstract
Y2O3 at 3% mol partially stabilized Zr2O3 (3YSZ) porous specimens with variable open porosity, from fully dense up to ~47%, and their potential use as anode supports for new solid oxide cell designs were fabricated by tape casting. The stiffness, strength and fracture properties were measured to investigate the influence of porosity on mechanical properties. The evolution of Young’s modulus and characteristic strength was evaluated by ball-on-ring tests. The variation of critical plane stress Mode I stress intensity factor with porosity has also been investigated and modelled from the results obtained from fracture mechanics testing. R-curve behaviour was observed in dense 3YSZ specimens and in porous 3YSZ compositions. The width of the transformation zone after fracture mechanics testing and the variation with porosity were investigated. The phases existing in the fracture zone were determined and quantified by Raman spectroscopy. It was found that the width of the transformation zone increased with increasing porosity. A new general R-curve model for 3YSZ based on the McMeeking–Evans equation is presented, which can be used to predict the behaviour of the R-curve as a function of porosity, simply by knowing the properties of the dense material and introducing in this equation porosity-dependent laws on the key properties that affect fracture toughness.

Three different types of hybrid direct carbon fuel cells were investigated for direct electrochemical oxidation of carbon black. One where anode-supported with a Ni/YSZ (yttria stabilized zirconia) anode and two cathode supported cells with either a NI/YSZ anode or a praseodymium-doped cerium oxide anode. The middle one performed the best, probably due to better contact to anode with the fuel and the presence of metallic nickel.

- Abstract
The colloidal properties and processing of aqueous LaNi0.6.Fe0.4O3 suspensions into electrode layers with hierarchical pore sizes has been investigated by light scattering, electron microscopy and rheology. We found that the colloidal stability of the oxide particles and the resulting microstructure of the electrode layers were similar when dispersing the particles at their intrinsic pH, or when adding polyvinylpyrrolidone. The addition of the ammonium salt of poly(methaacrylic acid) resulted in a poor colloidal stability and the concentrated suspensions became viscoelastic during processing. Addition of rice starch resulted in an increase of the porosity but the cast electrode layers cracked and delaminated.

Starting in January 2017, the QualyGridS (Standardized qualifying tests of electrolysers for grid services) project has as final goal the establishment of standardized testing protocols for alkaline (AE) and Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers running grid services. It is a three years project that receives funding from the European Commission and which starting point is the analysis of the transmission and distribution systems of different regions of Europe presented in this document. While the project goes forward, the most relevant business cases in Europe based on the use of electrolyser will be technically and economically analyzed and the developed test protocols will be experimentally tested on state of the art alkaline and PEM electrolysers up to 300 kW.

RABBIT diseases ,HARES ,CALICIVIRUSES ,EUROPEAN rabbit ,PATHOGENIC viruses ,REOVIRUSES ,SCHMALLENBERG virus - Abstract
The Lagovirus genus comprises both pathogenic viruses as European brown hare syndrome virus (EBHSV‐ GII.1) and rabbit hemorrhagic disease viruses (RHDV‐GI.1 and RHDV2‐GI.2), that principally infect European brown hares (Lepus europeaus) and European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus), respectively, causing severe necrotic hepatitis, spleen enlargement and disseminated haemorrhage. This genus includes also non‐pathogenic agents, such as rabbit calicivirus (RCV‐E1 – GI.3) and the non‐pathogenic hare Lagovirus, provisionally named hare calicivirus (HaCV – GII.2). The latter had been identified for the first time in 2012 in the gut contents and faeces of healthy young hares raised in a breeding farm. In this study, we further investigated the presence of HaCV by testing the intestinal tract of 621 wild hares collected between 2010 and 2018 in Northern and Central Italy, and in 2011 in Austria, Germany and Spain. These wild hares were found dead for causes other than EBHS or were healthy hares shot during the hunting season. Forty‐three out of 322 hare samples from Italy and 14 out of 299 samples from Austria and Germany were positive for HaCV–GII.2 by RT‐PCR using universal primers for lagoviruses and primers specific for HaCV. Sequence analysis of the full capsid protein gene conducted on 12 strains representative of different years and locations indicated that these viruses belong to the same, single cluster as the prototype strain initially identified at the hares' farm (HaCV_Bs12_1). The relatively high level of genetic variation (88% nt identity) within this cluster suggests HaCVs may have been circulating widely in Europe for some time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The gas permeability of Y0.03Zr0.97O2 (3Y-TZP) porous supports from thermoplastic feedstocks has been improved by adding MgO as a non-pyrolyzable pore former. Common pyrolyzable pore formers such as graphite often produce tortuous and narrow pore channels with low gas permeability, limiting the performance of oxygen transport membranes or other membranes relying on gas transport to the active membrane surface. Thermoplastic feedstocks for extrusion of tubular 3Y-TZP supports were prepared with four different amounts of pyrolyzable pore formers and/or MgO as non-pyrolyzable pore former. The MgO was removed after sintering by leaching in acetic acid. With this technique we obtained porosities above 70 vol% and gas permeabilities above 3 10-14 m2. Compared to samples with only pyrolyzable pore formers, the non-pyrolyzable pore former increases the gas permeability and reduces the tortuosity.

- Abstract
The electrochemical activity of LaNiO3, La0.97NiO3, LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3, La0.97Ni0.6Fe0.4O3 and La2Ni0.9Fe0.1O4, toward the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) was measured in 1M KOH at room temperature. All materials showed comparable OER activity with Tafel slopes in the range 56–98 mV/dec. The overvoltage at 10 mA·cm−2, measured on a well-defined geometric surface area, was in the range 0.38–0.45 V. The best performing materials among the ones investigated were LaNiO3 (multiphase) and La2Ni0.9Fe0.1O4. The chemical stability of the stoichiometric materials was also assessed in 31wt% and 45 wt% KOH respectively at 100°C and 220°C. All materials were partially decomposed after 1 week of exposure at 220°C. After 1 week of exposure at 100°C LaNiO3 had formed secondary phases whereas LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3 and La2Ni0.9Fe0.1O4 showed only traces of secondary phase. The main secondary phases were in all cases La(OH)3, NiO, Ni(OH)2 and Fe2O3. These observations indicate that the investigated oxygen electrode materials are not suitable for operation in alkaline electrolysis cells above 100°C.

- Abstract
3YSZ specimens with variable open porosity (1–57%) were fabricated, and the stiffness, strength and fracture properties (fracture toughness and R-curve) were measured to investigate their potential use as support structures for solid oxide fuel or electrolysis cells. The ball-on-ring test was used to characterize Young's modulus and Weibull strength. The variation of fracture toughness with porosity was investigated and modelled using the results from fracture mechanical testing. A distinct R-curve behaviour was observed in dense 3YSZ specimens, in samples with a porosity around 15% and in some of the highly porous samples (porosities ∼45%) reflecting a transformation toughening in the material. For the most porous samples, the “R-curve behaviour” disappeared and subcritical crack growth was observed. The studies indicate that even highly porous 3YSZ structures (porosities exceeding 40%) are feasible supports for SOFC/SOECs from a mechanical point of view.

[EN] Two different routes of synthesis of Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 (CGO) nanopowders are presented; the ethylene glycol-metal nitrate polymerized complex solution method and the precipitation technique using ammonia as the precipitant agent. The powders characteristics were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area and simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations were used to determine the agglomeration degree of the powders, and the uniformity of the green compacts. The Hg-porosimetry results were used to investigate the pore size. The densification process was studied by constant heating rate dilatometry and isothermal sintering at different temperatures. Microstructural development of each sample at different sintering temperatures and times was followed by SEM., [ES] Se presentan dos diferentes rutas de síntesis de nanopolvos de Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 (CGO): precipitación de hidróxidos, a partir de soluciones de nitratos utilizando amonia como agente precipitante y formación de complejos polimerizados etilene-glicol nitratos metálicos. - Abstract
Empirical features of many financial data series have motivated the study of flexible classes of distributions which can incorporate properties such as skewness and fat-tailedness. In this paper we propose the use of some models of beta-generated and generalized beta-generated distributions (see Eugene et al., 2002 and Jones, 2004), for modelling financial data. In particular, we study two classes of skew t distributions, proposed by Jones and Faddy (2003) and Alexander et al. (2012). The first family depends on two shape parameters which control the skewness and the tail weight, and the second family includes an extra parameter. We obtain analytical expressions for the cumulative distribution function, quantile function and moments, and some quantities useful in financial econometrics, including the value at risk. We provide several stochastic representations for these families in terms of usual distributions functions. We also propose some multivariate extensions and we explore some of their properties.

In this paper we study global inequality in well-being taking as a reference the Human Development Index. One of the main changes applied to this indicator was the substitution of the arithmetic mean for a geometric mean in the construction of the index, thus assuming different substitution grades between dimensions. In order to determine the impact of the aggregation formula in the distribution of the HDI, we propose the use of multidimensional generalized entropy measures, which allow us to study the evolution of well-being inequality based on different aggregation schemes. The results obtained suggest a reduction in global inequality in human development over the period 1980- 2011. However different inequality patterns are observed depending on the substitutability parameter, thus pointing out the crucial role played by the aggregation formula of composite indices of well-being in the evolution of global inequality.

- Abstract
In this paper, we present a general class of dependent risks, where the individ-ual risk are modeled according to inverse Lomax distributions. The inverse Lomax distribution has heavy tails and depends on two parameters, a shape and a scale parameter. We obtain the joint density function of dependent risks and several rel-evant submodels are considered. Closed expressions for the probability density and the cumulative distribution functions of the total risk are provided. Furthermore, formulas for different risk measures are obtained, including value at risk VaR, the value at risk in the tail TVaR and other measures based on the tail of the distribu-tion, both for individual risks and for risk total. Estimation methods are proposed according to the type of information available. The developed models are applied to several sets of data for dependent risks, including operational risks and loss data and ALAE., En este trabajo se presenta una clase general de riesgos dependientes, donde los riesgos individuales siguen distribuciones de tipo Lomax inversa. [EN] Magnetic properties of the Er(Co,Mn)O3 solid solution result from a subtle interplay of different interactions between erbium moments and several other magnetic entities present in this system: Mn3+, Mn4+, Co2+, Co3+, as well as double-exchange interactions among them. The special case of the 0.5:0.5 = Co:Mn substitution is particularly important since ferromagnetic domains may reorientate both under low and high external magnetic fields. Magnetic dilution of the erbium sublattice by non-magnetic yttrium (same valence and size) allows separating out the antiferromagnetic 4f-3d interactions leaving just the ferromagnetic Co2+-Mn4+ transition metal sublattice. Magnetic properties of the ErxY1-xCo0.50Mn0.50O3 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 1.0) solid solution are presented, going from ferromagnetism (x = 0; YCo0.5Mn0.5O3) to ferrimagnetism (x = 1; ErCo0.5Mn0.5O3). Antiferromagnetic interactions get stronger while the Co/Mn ferromagnetic domains become harder to rotate when the rare-earth sublattice is progressively filled with erbium ions of large magnetic moments. A linear dependence with x(Er) is observed for the critical field Hcrit related to the reorientation of domains, going from 1.3 T up to 3.5 T, for x = 0 and 1, respectively. [EN] The purpose of this work is to investigate the possible solid state reactions between the NiO-Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 (NiO-GDC) composites with 50% wt NiO, and cermets Ni- Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 (Ni-GDC) with 39 vol. % of Ni, and electrolyte solid solutions based on Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 (GDC) employing the X-ray diffraction technique. At the same time the thermochemical and thermomechanical compatibility between these materials was established. Results obtained from SEM and EDAX analysis showed that the electrolyte based on ceria (GDC) and the anode based on nickel-ceria cermet (Ni-GDC) present good adhesion and well defined interfaces. No reactive phases and other type of defects were detected. This study showed that both materials, Ni-GDC and GDC are thermochemical and thermomechanically compatible., Este trabajo ha sido realizado dentro de un proyecto financiado por la comisión Interministerial de Ciencia y Tecnología de España (CICYT, Proyecto Ref. [EN] Partial substitution of Mn by a divalent metal in rare-earth manganites REMexMn1‑xO3 results in the simultaneous presence of Mn3+ and Mn4+. The RE sublattice has its own properties and can interact with the local field imposed by the ferromagnetic Mn network. Its orientation differs depending on the RE nature, adopting a parallel direction with respect to the local field, or it may align in opposite direction, resulting in uncompensated antiferromagnetic structure. For divalent elements (e.g., Ni2+), the solid solution is limited to RENi2+0.5Mn4+0.5O3 ; at this frontier composition, the ferromagnetic superexchange Ni2+-O-Mn4+ interactions are optimized. For Me = Co, this limit can be extended, meaning that part of cobalt takes a 3+ state ; in this case, presence of Co3+ modifies the magnetic coupling, leading to qualitatively different behaviours during the ZFC/FC cycles. In this work, we have chosen the specific composition REMe0.50Mn0.50O3 for which the strongest magnetic interactions are expected, emphasizing the results obtained for Me = Ni and Co and comparing various rare-earth elements (RE = Y, La, Pr, Nd, Eu, Gd and Er). As expected from the general behaviour of the series (RE,Ca)MnO3, we find that in the RE(Mn,Me)O3, the larger the RE ionic radius, the highest the transition temperature, reaching 235 K in LaCo0.50Mn0.50O3 compared to 68 K in ErCo0.50Mn0.50O3., [ES] La sustitución parcial de Mn por un catión divalente en manganitas de tierras raras TRMexMn1‑xO3 induce la presencia simultánea de Mn3+ y Mn4+.

Sintering ,CeO2–Gd2O3 - Abstract
A considerable reduction (≥250 ◦C) in the sintering temperature, enhancement of the sintering density, and a slight improvement of the electrical properties, can be achieved by using bismuth oxide in the range of 0.2 to 2 wt.%, as a sintering aid for gadolinia-doped ceria (GDC) ceramic electrolytes. Dilatometric experiment (CHR) and SEM observations indicate that a liquid phase-assisting sintering mechanism contributes to the improvement in sintering density for bismuth oxide concentrations exceeding 0.5 wt.%. The addition of small amount of Bi2O3 ≤0.5 wt.% also results in the achievement of highly dense ceramic bodies (≥99% of theoretical density) after sintering at 1200 ◦C for 4 h, which indicates that the addition of Bi2O3 to gadolinia-doped ceria promoted the sintering process by a cooperating volume diffusion-liquid phase-assisting mechanism. Based on the lattice constant data, the solid solubility limit of Bi2O3 in gadolinia-ceria is, probably, lower than 1.0 wt.%. Grain size also increased with increasing Bi2O3 content up to 0.5 wt.% and then it decreased with further addition of Bi2O3. The addition of the smaller amounts of bismuth oxide, i.e., ≤1.0 wt.% Bi2O3 slightly enhanced the total ionic electrical conductivity of the gadolinia-doped ceria electrolyte. The sintering temperature strongly influenced the electrical conductivity of the doped-GDC ceramics. The best sample was that containing 1.0 wt.% Bi2O3 sintered at 1400 ◦C for 2 h which had an ionic electrical conductivity of 4 Sm−1 at 700 ◦C, and an activation energy of 0.58 eV for the oxide-ion conduction process in air.

- Abstract
In this work we contribute to the study of well-being inequality conceived as a multidimensional process, analyzing inequality across countries in terms of the Human Development Index (HDI). To that end, we consider two alterna¬tive approaches based on the use of generalized entropy measures. Our results point out a reduction of inequality in the three dimensions considered by the HDI as well as in composite indicators of these components over the period 1980-2011. The decomposition of this type of inequality measures in two components, between-regions and within-regions, reveals that the fall of overall disparities is mainly driven by the decrease in inequality between regions., En este trabajo se trata de contribuir al estudio de la desigualdad en el bienestar, concebido como un proceso multidimensional, analizando la desigualdad entre países en términos del Índice de Desarrollo Humano (IDH).

- Abstract
The extension of the Lorenz curve to the bidimensional case and dimensions higher than two is not trivial. Three different proposals can be found in the liter-ature. The first definition was proposed by Taguchi (1972a,b). Thereafter, Arnold (1983) developed a second definition which was a natural extension of the concentra-tion curve. This proposal has not received much attention in the economic literature. Finally, Koshevoy and Mosler (1996) introduced the third definition using the con-cept of Lorenz Zonoid. Recently, Sarabia and Jord´a (2013, 2014) proposed a number of parametric classes of bivariate Lorenz curves based on the Arnold’s definition. In this paper, the three existing definitions are revisited. We investigate their origin as well as the main properties of each of them. In the case of the Arnold’s definition, some parametric forms are presented for the bivariate case with different dependence structures and different marginals. We finish this work by examining briefly the extension of these families to dimensions higher than two and describing their applications to well-being data when several attributes are jointly considered., La extensión de la curva de Lorenz al caso bidimensional y a dimensiones superiores a dos no es un problema trivial.
