Because of The low complexity of passive filters (PF) compared to the active filter, their high efficiency, their ease of installation and their different topologies,theyremained the devices required in the power system. In order to minimize the harmonic distortion produced by the large industrial loads, harmonic filters should, therefore, be designed with the utmost rigor, because a poorly designed filter may amplify the undesired harmonics. The determination of the PFcomponents requires both adetailed study ofthe power system parameters, which influence the efficiency and economic viability of the harmonic compensation and the reactive power required by the load.This article studies the use of the Cuckoo optimization algorithm (COA), in order to designpassive filters with an improved power quality and reduced cost. The optimal filters are connected concurrently to the power system so that each individual Harmonic distortion respects the recommended limits. The results show that the optimized (PF) is effective, and has a lower cost.

Simulation results confirm that, in many cases, AVC is able to eliminate all voltage disturbances.

The increase in electrical energy consumption due to human well-being, as well as a significant decline in the world's fossil fuel reserves, have strongly motivated electric power companies to exploit renewable energies and improve their performances, such as fuel cells, that are characterized by high efficiency and conservation of the environment. In this context, this research contributes to representing fuel cells in order to power a static synchronous compensator D-STATCOM, the latter being considered as an effective solution to improve the power factor, as well as to protect consumers with sensitive loads against the overvoltage / voltage dip, in addition to injecting the rest of the energy supplied by the cells The fuel. In this article, the use of the instantaneous powers p-q method as a D-STATCOM control system gives a totality for the detection of the reference currents, this current which simultaneously contains the reactive currents in order to compensate for the energy reactive, as well as the active currents resulting from the excess of active energy produced by the fuel cell. The results obtained by the simulation demonstrate that the proposed method has considerable efficiency in improving the stability of the electrical network while supplying it with the additional energy generated by fuel cells.

One of the most popular fuel cell is the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM), it has been reviewed and specially promoted, that it has been progressively acknowledged to make it able to work with a high degree of efficiency at lower temperature condition. In this paper, the analysis are focused on the configuration of a system consisting a direct assembly between the shunt active power filter and the (PEM) fuel cells, this system is used to supply the power system with the PEM power, under its fixed power conditions. The use of artificial neural network (ANN) as a control system of the inverter results the multi-operation inverter, the proposed design is not only able of delivering the fuel cell power to the electrical network, but will also act as a parallel active power filter (PAPF) to mitigate the unwanted harmonics current caused by the non-linear loads and regulate reactive power. The results indicate that this system is able to prevent the harmonics effect and strengthen the overall capacity of the utility grid.
