6. Geometric energy transfer in a St\'uckelberg interferometer of two parametrically coupled mechanical modes

Abstract

Geometric phase, which is acquired after a system undergoing cyclic evolution in the Hilbert space, is believed to be noise-resilient because it depends only on the global properties of the evolution path. Here, we report geometric control of energy transfer between two parametrically coupled mechanical modes in an optomechanical system. The parametric pump is controlled along a closed loop to implement geometric St\"uckelberg interferometry of mechanical motion, in which the dynamical phase is eliminated using the Hahn-echo technique. We demonstrate that the interference based solely on the geometric phase is robust against certain noises. And, more remarkably, we show that the all-geometric approach can achieve a high energy-transfer rate that is comparable to those using conventional dynamical protocols.

Abstract

We report the realization of dynamical localization in a strongly driven two-mode optomechanical system consisting of two coupled cantilevers. Due to the coupling, mechanical oscillations can transport between the cantilevers. However, by placing one of the cantilevers inside a harmonically oscillating optical trap, we demonstrate that mechanical oscillations become tightly bounded to the isolated cantilevers rather than propagate away at specific driving parameters. The effect of dynamical localization is employed to induce a conductor-to-insulator-like transition in the two-mode mechanical system, which opens up new possibilities for further coherent control of transport phenomena in coupled-mechanical-resonator based lattice.

Abstract

Coupled nanomechanical resonators have recently attracted much attention for both fundamental studies in physics and broad applications in high-precession detection or sensing. By studying the Landau-Zener transitions and Rabi oscillation of two coupled resonators, it has been shown that such a two-mode system acts as a classical two-level system bearing the analog to a quantum mechanical two-level one. Here we construct a St\"uckelberg interferometer with two coupled cantilevers by driving the system through the avoided crossing twice. By measuring the non-adiabatic phase acquired at the Landau-Zener transition, we unveil an in-depth analog between the two-mode and quantum two-level systems. Our study opens up new opportunities for constructing interferometers with classical devices.

Abstract

We present sympathetic cooling in an optomechanical system consisting of two coupled cantilevers. The hybridization of the cantilevers creates a symmetric mode, which is feedback cooled, and an anti-symmetric mode not directly controllable by the feedback. The scheme of sympathetic cooling is adopted to cool the anti-symmetric mode indirectly by parametrically coupling to the feedback-cooled symmetric mode, from which the cooling power can be transferred. Experiment shows that the realization of coherent dynamics plays an essential role in sympathetic cooling, in which optimal cooling is achieved when the mechanical dissipation rate and the strength of coupling become comparable. The sympathetic cooling is improved by increasing the strength of mode coupling to enhance the transfer of cooling power. Also, the limit of sympathetic cooling imposed by the capacity of feedback cooling is reached as the effective temperatures of the two modes approach the strong coherent coupling condition. Our research provides the prospect of extending the cooling techniques to coupled mechanical resonators for a broad application in sensing and information processing.

Abstract

Chemotherapy is one of the main options in clinical tumor treatment. Although chemotherapy drugs have a good therapeutic effect, they can also cause a series of adverse reactions, such as neurotoxicity. Chemotherapy-induced neurotoxicity is a dose-limi-ting adverse reaction that significantly affects patients' long-term treatment and quality of life. This article reviewed literature from 2000 to the present on chemotherapy-induced neurotoxicity and found that oxaliplatin was the most frequently used chemotherapy drug. Based on the clinical characteristics of oxaliplatin-induced neurotoxicity, this article summarized the understanding of its pathogenesis from both traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and western medicine perspectives, discussed the role and mechanism of TCM compounds and monomeric components, and explored the research direction of using cutting-edge biotechnology to reveal the mechanism of oxaliplatin-induced neurotoxicity from a temporal-spatial perspective of intercellular communication and the application prospects of an interdisciplinary model combining TCM pathogenesis, western medicine manifestations, and artificial intelligence in precise intervention decision-making for TCM, aiming to provide research ideas for the prevention and treatment of oxaliplatin-induced neurotoxicity and the development of new drugs.

49. [Comparison of the effects of removable dentures made by 3D printing and traditional casting methods on patients' subjective feelings].

Abstract

Purpose: To compare the different effects of removable dentures made by 3D printing and traditional casting methods on patients' subjective feelings., Methods: A total of 80 patients with dentition defects of Ken's Class Ⅰ and Subclass Ⅱ were selected from the Department of Prosthodontics. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups, with removable dentures made by using 3D printing and plaster casting method, respectively. The patients were asked to re-visit 1 week after wearing the dentures to observe and record intraoral mucosal tenderness points. At the same time, mastication efficiency was measured by absorbance method. The patients were followed up for 2 months after wearing dentures, and questionnaires were issued to them to investigate subjective feelings and satisfaction. The subjective feelings of patients included masticatory ability, retention effect, convenience, comfort, speech function and facial appearance. Satisfaction evaluation included three aspects: treatment duration, cost and final outcome. Each aspect of evaluation used a 5-point system, with a minimum score of 1 and a maximum score of 5. The higher the score, the better the patient's subjective feelings or the higher the satisfaction. The data were statistically analyzed with SPSS 17.0 software package., Results: The tender points in 3D printing group was less than the plaster casting group, while the chewing efficiency of 3D printing group was higher than the plaster casting group, the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). The difference of subjective feeling and satisfaction was also significant between the two groups(P＜0.05)., Conclusions: 3D printing to make removable denture has certain advantages in improving the accuracy of removable denture and the comfort of patients.

Abstract

Oxcarbazepine is a new antiepileptic drug. The results of clinical trials suggest that oxcarbazepine is well tolerated and has less drug interactions. It is being used more and more widely in clinical practice, but its adverse effects should not be ignored. The most common adverse effects of oxcarbazepine are usually related to the central nervous system and digestive system, including fatigue, drowsiness, diplopia, dizziness, nausea and vomit. The common skin adverse reaction is rash. Long-term use of oxcarbazepine may also cause hyponatremia. This article reviews the literature from China and overseas about the adverse effets of oxcarbazepine over the last 10 years in order to find information about rational clinical use of oxcarbazepine.
