The entropy production prior to BBN era is one of ways to prevent QCD axion with the decay constant $F_{a}\in[10^{12}{\rm GeV},10^{16}{\rm GeV}]$ from overclosing the universe when the misalignment angle is $\theta_{\rm i}=\mathcal{O}(1)$. As such, it is necessarily accompanied by an early matter-dominated era (EMD) provided the entropy production is achieved via the decay of a heavy particle. In this work, we consider the possibility of formation of primordial black holes during the EMD era with the assumption of the enhanced primordial scalar perturbation on small scales ($k>10^{4}{\rm Mpc}^{-1}$). In such a scenario, it is expected that PBHs with axion halo accretion develop to ultracompact minihalos (UCMHs). We propose an inflation model in which the inflationary era is driven by the strong dynamics of $Sp(2)$ gauge theory. The quark condensation in the confined phase of $Sp(2)$ gauge theory generates the inflaton potential comparable to the energy of the thermal bath at the time of phase transition. Afterwards, with super-Planckian global minimum, the inflation commences at a false vacuum region lying between true vacuum regions and hence the name "topological inflation". Featured by the huge separation between the scale of the false vacuum ($V(0)^{1/4}\sim10^{15}{\rm GeV}$) and the global minimum ($\langle\phi\rangle\sim M_{P}$), the model can be consistent with CMB observables without suffering from the initial condition problem. Crucially, this is achieved without any fine-tuning of parameters in $V(\phi)$. In addition to $Sp(2)$, this model is based on an anomaly free $Z_{6R}$ discrete $R$ symmetry. Remarkably, while all parameters are fixed by CMB observations, the model predicts a hierarchy of energy scales including the inflation scale, SUSY-breaking scale, R-symmetry breaking scale, Higgsino mass and the right-handed neutrino mass given in terms of the dynamical scale of $Sp(2)$., Comment: 4 pages

We present a supersymmetric model where energy scales of a discrete $R$-symmetry breaking ($Z_{6R}$) and cosmic inflation are commonly attributed to the confinement scale of a hidden $Sp(2)$ strong dynamics. Apart from these, SUSY-breaking scale, the Higgsino mass and the right-handed neutrino masses are all shown to stem from $Z_{6R}$ breaking scale inferred from CMB observables. We will show that the model is characterized by the SUSY-breaking soft mass $m_{\rm soft}\simeq100-1000{\rm TeV}$ and the reheating temperature $T_{\rm rh}\simeq10^{9}{\rm GeV}$. Then we discuss how these predictions of the model can be tested with the help of the spectrum of the gravitational wave induced by the short-lived cosmic string present during the reheating era., 22 pages, 3 figures

We focus on the SUSY-breaking scale corresponding to the gravitino mass $m_{3/2}=100{\rm eV}-1{\rm keV}$. We argue that the presence of an early matter-dominated era and the resulting entropy production are requisite for the Universe with this gravitino mass. We infer the model-independent minimum amount of the entropy production $\Delta$ by requiring that the number of dwarf satellite galaxies $N_{\rm sat}$ in the Milky Way exceed the currently observed value, i.e. $N_{\rm sat}\gtrsim63$. This entropy production is inevitably imprinted on the primordial gravitational waves (pGWs) produced during the inflationary era. We study how the information on the value of $\Delta$ and the time of entropy production are encoded in the pGW spectrum $\Omega_{\rm GW}(f_{\rm GW})$. In the case where the future GW surveys do not see any suppression in the pGW spectrum for the frequency range $\mathcal{O}(10^{-10}){\rm Hz}\lesssim f_{\rm GW}\lesssim\mathcal{O}(10^{-5}){\rm Hz}$, our study can be used to rule out all the PeV scale SUSY-breaking scenarios., Published by Inst., Melville, NY

By extending a previously proposed conformal gauge mediation model, we construct a gauge-mediated SUSY breaking (GMSB) model where a SUSY-breaking scale, a messenger mass, the $\mu$-parameter and the gravitino mass in a minimal supersymmetric (SUSY) Standard Model (MSSM) are all explained by a single mass scale, a R-symmetry breaking scale. We focus on a low scale SUSY-breaking scenario with the gravitino mass $m_{3/2}=\mathcal{O}(1){\rm eV}$, which is free from the cosmological gravitino problem and relaxes the fine-tuning of the cosmological constant. Both the messenger and SUSY-breaking sectors are subject to a hidden strong dynamics with the conformality above the messenger mass threshold (and hence the name of the model "strongly interacting conformal gauge mediation"). In our model, the Higgs B-term is suppressed and a large $\tan\beta$ is predicted, resulting in the relatively light second CP-even Higgs and the CP-odd Higgs with a sizable production cross section. A keV-scale gravitino arsing from a minimal supersymmetric (SUSY) Standard Model (MSSM) is an interesting possibility since the small scale problems that $\Lambda$CDM model encounters in the modern cosmology could be alleviated with the keV-scale gravitino serving as the warm dark matter (WDM). Such a light gravitino asks for a low scale supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking for which the gauge mediation (GM) is required as a consistent SUSY-breaking mediation mechanism. In this paper, we show upperbounds of the masses of the second CP-even Higgs boson $H$ and the CP-odd Higgs boson $A$, assuming the keV-scale gravitino to be responsible for the current DM relic abundance: the upperbound on the mass of $H/A$ is found to be $\sim 4$ TeV for the gravitino mass of $\mathcal{O}(10$-$100)$ keV. Interestingly, the mass of $H/A$ can be as small as 2-3 TeV and the predicted $\tan\beta$ is as large as 55-60 for the gravitino mass of $\mathcal{O}(10)$ keV. The extension of the Standard model (SM) with three heavy right handed neutrinos, a complex scalar and the gauged $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ symmetry (the minimal $B-L$ model) is considered the most compelling minimal one: the presence and the out-of-equilibrium decay of the heavy right handed neutrinos can account for the small masses of the active neutrinos and the baryon asymmetry of the universe. A natural accompanying question concerns whether the minimal $B-L$ model can naturally accommodate an interesting dark matter (DM) candidate. An excess in the electronic recoil data was observed in the XENON1T detector. One of plausible explanations for the excess is absorption of a vector bosonic particle with the mass of $2-3\,{\rm keV}$. For this, the kinetic mixing $\kappa\!\sim\!10^{-15}$ of the dark photon with the photon is required if the dark photon explains the current DM abundance. We recently proposed a model where the main component DM today is a decaying warm dark matter (WDM) with the life time comparable to the age of the current universe. The WDM decays to a massless fermion and a massive dark photon. This model was originally designed for addressing both the small scale problems which $\Lambda$CDM suffers from and the $H_{0}$ tension. In this letter, we show that the massive dark photon produced by the WDM decay can be identified with the vector boson inducing the anomalous excess in the XENON1T experiment. The recent observation of an excess in the electronic recoil data by the XENON1T detector has drawn many attentions as a potential hint for an extension of the Standard Model (SM). Absorption of a vector boson with the mass of $m_{A'}\!\in\!(2\,{\rm keV},\!3\,{\rm keV})$ is one of the feasible explanations to the excess. In the case where the vector boson explains the dark matter (DM) population today, it is highly probable that the vector boson belongs to a class of the warm dark matter (WDM) due to its suspected mass regime. In such a scenario, providing a good fit for the excess, the kinetic mixing $\kappa\!\sim\!10^{-15}$ asks for a non-thermal origin of the vector DM. In this letter, we consider a scenario where the gauge boson is nothing but the $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ gauge boson and its non-thermal origin is attributed to the decay of the coherently oscillating scalar of which condensation induces the spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$. The extension of the Standard Model by assuming $U(1{)}_{\mathrm{B}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{L}}$ gauge symmetry is very well motivated since it naturally explains the presence of heavy right-handed neutrinos required to account for the small active neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism and thermal leptogenesis. Traditionally, we introduce three right-handed neutrinos to cancel the $[U(1{)}_{\mathrm{B}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{L}}{]}^{3}$ anomaly. However, it suffices to introduce two heavy right-handed neutrinos for these purposes and therefore we can replace one right-handed neutrino by new chiral fermions to cancel the $U(1{)}_{\mathrm{B}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{L}}$ gauge anomaly. Then, one of the chiral fermions can naturally play a role of a dark matter candidate. In this paper, we demonstrate how this framework produces a dark matter candidate which can address the so-called ``core-cusp problem''. As one of the small-scale problems that the $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}$ cold dark matter paradigm encounters, it may imply an important clue for the nature of dark matter. One of resolutions among many is hypothesizing that sub-keV fermion dark matter halos in dwarf spheroidal galaxies are in a (quasi) degenerate configuration. We show how the degenerate sub-keV fermion dark matter candidate can be nonthermally originated in our model and thus can be consistent with the Lyman-$\ensuremath{\alpha}$ forest observation. Thereby, the small neutrino mass, baryon asymmetry, and the sub-keV dark matter become consequences of the broken B-L gauge symmetry.

In this paper, we show that the Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry with a good quality can be realized in a simple $B-L$ extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. The PQ symmetry is a remnant of the $B-L$ gauge symmetry at the renormalizable level. Besides, the sufficient quality of the PQ symmetry is preserved by a non anomalous discrete gauged $R$-symmetry and a small gravitino mass $m_{3/2}\ll 100$GeV. A viable mass range is $m_{3/2}=\mathcal{O}(1)$eV which allows a high reheating temperature and many baryogenesis scenarios typified by the thermal leptogenesis without any astrophysical and cosmological problems. We present a dark sector model addressing both the Hubble tension and the core-cusp problem. The model is based on a hidden Abelian gauge symmetry group with some chiral fermions required by the anomaly cancellation conditions, producing a candidate for the decaying fermion dark matter as a solution to the Hubble tension. We present a solution to the strong CP problem, which relies on the horizontal gauge symmetry and CP invariance in a full theory. Similar to other Nelson-Barr type solutions, CP violation in both the strong and weak sectors in the Standard model (SM) is attributed to the condensation of complex scalars $\Phi$ in the model. The model is differentiated by others in that it explains the hierarchy in quark-Higgs Yukawa coupling in the SM based on a series of sequential breaking of the horizontal $SU(3)_{f}$ gauge symmetry. The experimental constraint $\overline{\theta}\lesssim10^{-10}$ requires $\,\lesssim\,10^{13}-10^{14}{\rm GeV}$ (vacuum expectation value of complex scalars) and $\lambda\,\lesssim\,10^{-6}$ (scalar quartic coupling). We show that this small coupling is natural in the sense of 'tHooft naturalness. Compared to other models of Nelson-Barr type with CP breaking scale $\Lambda_{CP}\lesssim10^{8}{\rm GeV}$, our model is more advantageous in terms of consistency with the thermal leptogenesis., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures

Boson stars may consist of a new type of light singlet scalar particles with nontrivial self-interactions, and may compose a fraction of the dark matter in the Universe. In this work, we study the dynamics of boson stars with Liouville and logarithmic scalar self-interaction potentials as benchmarks. We perform a numerical analysis as well as a semi-analytic study on how the compactness and the total mass will deviate from that of the usual boson stars formed with a quartic repulsive self-interaction. We apply the recently suggested Swampland conjecture to examine whether boson stars with such benchmark potentials belong to the Landscape of a quantum gravity. Using the mass constraint on the macroscopic compact halo object (MACHO) and the cold dark matter (CDM) isocurvature mode constraint from the cosmic microwave background (CMB), we derive the allowed mass range of scalar particles which compose the boson star. We further analyze applications of the lensing of fast radio bursts (FRBs) and the gravitational wave (GW) detection to probe the presence of such boson stars and constrain the parameter space of their corresponding models. The acoustic peaks in the angular power spectrum of cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and polarization anisotropies play an important role as a probe of the nature of new relativistic particles contributing to the radiation density in the early universe, parametrized by $\Delta N_{eff}$. The amplitude and phase of the acoustic oscillations provide information about whether the extra species are free-streaming particles, like neutrinos, or tightly-coupled, like the photons, during eras probed by the CMB. On the other hand, some extensions of the Standard Model produce new relativistic particles that decouple from their own non-gravitational interactions after neutrinos, but prior to photons. We study the signature of new relativistic species that decouple during this intermediate epoch. We argue that the decoupling species will cause a scale-dependent change in the amplitude and phase shift of the acoustic oscillations, different from the usual constant shifts on small scales. For intermediate decoupling times, the phase and amplitude shifts depend not only on $\Delta N_{eff}$ but the redshift $z_{dec,X}$ at which the new species decoupled. For $\Delta N_{eff} >0.334$, a Stage IV CMB experiment could determine $N_{eff}$ at the percent level and $z_{dec,X}$ at the $\sim 10\%$ level. For smaller values, $\Delta N_{eff}\sim 0.1$, constraints on $z_{dec,X}$ weaken but remain $\sim 20-50\%$ for $z_{dec,X} \sim \mathcal{O}(10^3-10^4)$. We study asymptotically free SU($N_c$) gauge theories with ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetry, including the purely gluonic theory and theories with $N_f$ copies of a pair of massless chiral superfields in the respective representations $R$ and $\bar R$ of SU($N_c$). The cases in which $R$ is the fundamental representation and the symmetric and antisymmetric rank-2 tensor representation are considered. We calculate Pad\'e approximants to the beta functions for these theories in the $\overline{\rm DR}$ scheme up to four-loop order for the gluonic theory and up to three-loop order for the theories with matter superfields and compare results for IR zeros and poles with results from the NSVZ beta function. Our calculations provide a quantitative measure, for these theories, of how well finite-order perturbative results calculated in one scheme reproduce properties of a known beta function calculated in a different scheme.

We investigate whether the beta function of the finite-$N$ Gross-Neveu model, as calculated up to the four-loop level, exhibits evidence for an infrared zero. As part of our analysis, we calculate and analyze Pad\'e approximants to this beta function and evaluate effects of scheme dependence. From our study, we find that in the range of coupling where the perturbative calculation of the four-loop beta function is reliable, it does not exhibit robust evidence for an infrared zero., Comment: 10 pages

We present two new one-parameter families of scheme transformations and apply these to study the scheme dependence of the infrared zero in the beta function of an asymptotically free non-Abelian gauge theory up to four-loop order. Our results provide a further quantitative measure of this scheme dependence, showing that for moderate values of the gauge coupling and the parameter specifying the scheme transformation, this dependence is relatively mild.
