This thesis explores the experimental force of Kikuji Kawada’s 1965 photobook Chizu (The Map), examining how this photobook-as-object evolves throughout its renditions over the decades and how it visualizes the human condition of anthropogenic violence in the atomic age. Captured two decades after the detonation of the atomic bomb, The Map photographic series presents a comprehensive documentation of Kawada’s first encounter with the post-atomic landscape of Hiroshima. Through fragmented and seemingly abstract images of the Atomic- Bomb Dome (Genbaku Domu), postwar industrial waste landscapes, desolate sites of war, victims of radioactivity, and war relics, Kawada captures the lingering permanency of nuclear warfare embedded onto physical surfaces and creates a visual metaphor of the psychological landscape of postwar Japan.In highlighting Kawada’s images of the stained walls of the A-Bomb Dome, this research foregrounds Akira Mizute Lippit’s concept of a-visuality, illustrating how these images create a visualization of the atomic spectacle, a phenomenon that is prevalent in contemporary visual culture to render visual the unseeable, fleeting moment of the nuclear flash. Through the evolution of Chizu, first published in 1965 and subsequent renditions in 2005 and 2021, this research traces how Kawada’s vision for the photobook transforms over time, each version unraveling new layers of interpretation to the a-visuality of the atomic spectacle and invites the contemporary viewer to contemplate its ecological ramifications into the present and future. While previous scholarship has focused on the context of Chizu that details postwar trauma of nuclear violence, I argue that the re-emergence of Chizu into contemporary time evokes a reexamination of its context through the legacy of the atomic age, by which the Anthropocene is marked by the lingering uncertainty of the future of humanity.

Introduction: common mental disorders whose symptoms are not early identified can turn into more serious illnesses, such as depression, anxiety, and mood disorder. The literature presents the use of rosemary as a form of treatment of physical and mental illnesses, including depression. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of treatments with different doses of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) extract on symptoms of Common Mental Disorders (CMD) in incarcerated people and prison workers. Methods: This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial study. The intervention was carried out using rosemary extract doses at 100, 500, and 1000 mg day-1 in groups composed of 10 participants, for 3 months. A 20-item self-reporting questionnaire (SRQ-20) was used to assess the presence of CMD. The project was submitted and approved by the Research Ethics Committee under the number 4,973,589. Results: The treatments with rosemary extract at 500 and 1000 mg day-1 showed statistically significant results for reducing CMD symptoms when compared to the those found at the beginning of the research. Conclusion: The use of rosemary extract was effective to reduce CMD in the evaluated prison staff and incarcerated people, especially when used at doses of 500 and 1000 mg day-1, and presented safety, as the participants did not experience side effects.

Urea is the standard source of nitrogen for plants, yet it is very unstable, causing losses and environmental pollution. The objective of this study is to validate the technology of spraying liquid source N-Top® of nitrogen for foliar uptake, considering the main oat crops systems in southern Brazil under different agricultural year conditions. The study was developed in 2016, 2017, and 2018, in the city of Augusto Pestana, RS, Brazil, in system soybean/oat and maize/oat. In each system, two experiments were conducted, one for quantifying the biomass rate and the other for the estimation of grain yield. In the four experiments, the design of the randomized block was used with four repetitions in factorial 2×4, for 2 nitrogen sources (liquid and urea) with 4 doses of the nutrient (0, 30, 60, and 120 kg ha-1), respectively. The urea source with 45% of nitrogen for root absorption and the liquid with 28% (N-Top®), via foliar absorption, were applied at the phenological stage of the fourth expanded leaf. In corn/oat system, increasing the dose of nitrogen from urea and liquid sources promotes linear behavior in the expression of grain yield, with similar values of angular coefficient. In the soybean/oat system in the average of the agricultural years, the dose of 78 kg ha-1 of nitrogen, promotes grain yield around 3000 kg ha-1, regardless of the nutrient source. N-top® liquid source nitrogen validation is confirmed, however the acquisition cost may make the recommendation unfeasible

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of agrochemicals registered for soybean on parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum in immature stages. Bioassays were conducted in the laboratory by exposing eggs parasited, using the methods proposed by the International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control of Noxious Animals and Plants (IOBC). The experimental design was completely randomized with eight replicates per treatment. The parameter for the classify agrochemical were based on the reduction of emergence of parasitoids (RE) evidenced by the number of parasitized eggs per female in the control. Based on the results obtained, all agrochemicals were innocuous to T. pretiosum in their immature stages.

As emissões geradas por edifícios de logística, incluindo armazéns e instalações de triagem, são significativas, representando cerca de 11% das emissões da cadeia de suprimentos. No caso da operação de um armazém, a iluminação, refrigeração/aquecimento e equipamentos de carga são os principais responsáveis pelo consumo energético e emissão de Gases de Efeito Estufa (GEE). Entretanto, a norma ISO 14001, que trata da gestão ambiental, não define quais os principais indicadores a serem utilizados para avaliação e monitoramento da operação. Desta forma, foi identificada a necessidade de se adotar práticas verde na operação de armazém. A proposta deste artigo é apresentar um método para selecionar indicadores que permitam avaliar e monitorar práticas que tornem a operação do armazém, de fato, verde. Esta pesquisa analisa a confiabilidade dos indicadores escolhidos por meio do método alfa de Cronbach, seguido de sua validação. O resultado aponta 27 indicadores mais relevantes a serem considerados para armazém verde.

Rabies is an encephalitis caused by rabies virus, whose transmission occurs upon contact with infected animals' saliva. The diagnosis is usually performed post-mortem through a direct fluorescent antibody test (DFAT). If the DFAT results are negative, they must be confirmed with an isolation test, usually the mouse inoculation test (MIT), which implies the suffering and death of the animals, high costs and most importantly, up to 28 days to confirm a negative result. Another issue related to rabies diagnosis is the sample collection and storage, which is critical for the rabies virus' RNA genome. The objective of this work was to select white oat (Avena sativa) genotypes for environments with and without fungicide application, as well as to identify relationships between meteorological variables and agronomic traits. Two experiments were carried out: one without and the other with the use of the tebuconazole fungicide. In each experiment, 26 genotypes were evaluated, conducted during ten years in the same experimental area; cultivation years were considered as one environment. The methodologies of genotype and of the genotypes x environments interaction were used to define the ideal genotype. 'URS Corona' is considered an ideal genotype due to its excellent responses in the environment with tebuconazole. The 'Brisasul', 'IPR Aphrodite', and 'URS Taura' genotypes respond better in the environment without the fungicide. However, based on multitraits, the 'URS Taura' and 'IPR Afrodite' genotypes can be positioned in environments with or without the use of tebuconazole. Genotypes with a rust incidence lower than 15% and a height higher than 93 cm in an environment with a relative humidity lower than 70.75% have a higher grain yield regardless of fungicide use. Greater magnitudes of air temperature and solar radiation result in a higher grain yield of white oat, regardless of fungicide use. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi selecionar genótipos de aveia-branca (Avena sativa) para ambientes com e sem aplicação de fungicidas, bem como identificar relações entre variáveis meteorológicas e características agronômicas. Dois experimentos foram conduzidos: um sem e outro com o uso do fungicida tebuconazole. Em cada experimento, foram avaliados 26 genótipos, conduzidos durante dez anos na mesma área experimental; os anos de cultivo foram considerados como um ambiente. As metodologias de genótipos e da interação genótipos x ambientes foram utilizadas para definir o genótipo ideal. 'URS Corona' é considerado um genótipo ideal devida às suas ótimas respostas em ambiente com uso de tebuconazole. Já os genótipos 'Brisasul', 'IPR Afrodite' e 'URS Taura' respondem melhor em ambiente sem o fungicida. Contudo, com base em multicaracterísticas, os genótipos 'URS Taura' e 'IPR Afrodite' podem ser posicionados em ambientes com ou sem o uso de tebuconazole. Genótipos com incidência de ferrugem menor que 15% e altura maior que 93 cm, em ambiente com umidade relativa menor que 70,75%, apresentam maior produtividade de grãos independentemente do uso de fungicida. Maiores magnitudes de temperatura do ar e radiação solar resultam em maior produtividade de grãos de aveia-branca, independentemente do uso de fungicida.

Hemangiomas são tumores vasculares benignos que se desenvolvem pelo crescimento ou malformações das células de vasos sanguíneos. Nos casos de proliferação de células de vasos sanguíneos, as principais causas podem ser hormonais, tais como gravidez, e traumas que podem induzir o seu crescimento. São muito comuns em região de cabeça e pescoço com grande propensão em cavidade bucal como na região de lábios, mucosa bucal, língua, gengiva e palato. Como opção de tratamento pode-se apontar a escleroterapia, por seus bons resultados estéticos e clínicos. Esse trabalho tem como propósito apresentar um caso clínico de hemangioma labial em paciente do gênero feminino, 47 anos, leucoderma, O caso foi tratado por meio não cirúrgico com injeção de oleato de monoetanolamina em duas sessões, promovendo a remissão completa da lesão em 28 dias, trazendo de volta conforto e estética da paciente.

Nuclear receptors are important targets in the research for the discovery of brand-new insecticides, and the ecdysteroid receptor is one of the most important targets nowadays. In this study, nine organocalcogenic compounds analogs of dibenzoylhydrazine were tested in a screening system, that presented at least 80% of compatibility in at least one of the three micromolar concentrations tested. We optimized in embryonic cell lines of the order Lepidoptera (SF9) and Diptera (S2), and these cell lines were transfected with a specific reporter plasmid. The nine compounds tested did not present agonist activity in both cell lines tested. In S2 cells the DAF-2 molecule inhibited the ECR-USP luminescence in 29.91%, and the DAF-4 molecule significantly inhibited the nuclear receptor luminescence in 51 to 55% compared to 20-Hydroxyecdysone (control). In SF9 cells, DAF-2 inhibited ECR-USP luminescence in 19.62%, and DAF-4 inhibited the receptor luminescence by 35.14% compared to 20-Hydroxyecdysone (control). In silico analysis of the Drosophila melanogaster receptor with the compound, DAF-2 showed inhibition of amino acids THR467 and MET-508 and with compound DAF-4 inhibition of ARG-511. For the of Heliothis virescens receptor for dendritic compounds, DAF-2 promoted inhibition of amino acids THR-343 and ARG-387 and DAF-4 inhibited ASN-504 and ARG-387

The objective of this work was to understand the agronomic performance of flaxseed cultivated in different spacings between rows and plant density, identifying associations between traits for indirect selection. The experiment was carried out in the municipality of Augusto Pestana - RS, in the years 2020 and 2021, using a randomized block experimental design organized in a 6x3x2 three-factor scheme, with six sowing densities (30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 plants per linear meter), three spacings between rows (0.18 m, 0.36 m, .0.54 m), and two crop seasons (2020 and 2021). In ten plants per plot, plant height, height of insertion of the first capsule, number of basal branches, stem diameter, number of branches on the stem, number of main branches, number of capsules, mass of capsules, number of grains per plot were measured. plant, weight of one hundred grains and weight of grains per plant. In addition, grain yield and plant stand were estimated. Grain yield is enhanced in row spacing of 18 cm with densities of 65 seeds per linear meter in crops with favorable conditions. In flaxseed, the number of capsules, number of grains and the mass of grains per plant exhibit a linear association with grain yield and can be used for indirect selection.

The aim of this work was to highlight the effects of row spacing and seed densities on the agronomic performance of flaxseed. The trial was developed in the experimental area of the Regional Institute of Rural Development, which belongs to the Regional University of the Northwest of the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul. The experimental design was randomized blocks, and the treatments were structured in factorial scheme three (spacings) x six (densities) with three replications per treatment, totaling 54 experimental units. We used three spacings between rows, 18 cm, 36 cm and 54 cm, and densities of 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 seeds per linear meter. The experimental units were three meters wide by 10 meters long, totaling 30 square meters. Morphological and productive variables of the flaxseed crop were evaluated, as well as meteorological variables. Increased spacing contributes to reduced grain yield regardless of the sowing density. The row spacing of 18 cm shows the best results for grain yield in relation to the seed densities used. High magnitude linear associations such as number of stem branches, productive branches, number and mass of capsules and grains per plant, and plant population define grain yield per unit of area.

The adjustment of buckwheat density and sowing time in an organic growing system guarantees satisfactory productivity with better environmental quality. The objective of the study is to adjust the sowing density and the best growing season of buckwheat, comparing the organic and conventional growing system. In the study, two experiments were conducted in 2017 and 2018. Experiment one, in a randomized block design with eight replications in a 4 x 2 factorial, for sowing density (40, 80, 120 and 160 kg ha-1) and growing location (Augusto Pestana and Três de Maio, RS, Brazil), respectively. Experiment two, in a randomized block design in a 2 x 2 factorial with eight replications, for sowing time (September and December) and growing system (conventional and organic), respectively, carried out in Augusto Pestana, RS. Grain yield and other characters of agronomic interest of the species were evaluated, with means analysis and regression adjustment. The sowing density around 110 kg ha-1 brings benefits in the buckwheat growing in reaching maximum grain yield in conventional and organic systems. Sowing in September and December is possible regardless of the production system. However, grain yield is maximized under the milder temperature conditions of September. The grain yield in an organic system, although statistically inferior to the conventional one, proves to be advantageous due to the reduced variation in yield due to add value of the product without the use of pesticides and fertilizers
