SARS‐CoV‐2 (COVID‐19) has spread all over the world, significantly affecting our everyday lives. People changed their habits during the pandemic and made use of urban green spaces (UGS). Our Web of Science and Scopus queries confirm a knowledge gap in green space planning and public space management studies in the field of UGS availability during COVID‐19. Therefore, the purpose of our research was to determine the impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic on urban green spaces management, identify the needs of the residents in terms of urban green spaces furniture, and assess the accessibility of urban green spaces to propose recommendations for the institution charged with managing urban green spaces in the City (Krakow). To this end, we used an expert interview, spatial analyses, and survey research among residents of Kraków, one of the largest cities in Poland. The survey involved 1350 respondents. The spatial analyses employed geoprocessing algorithms and GIS tools. The results showed that 96% of Kraków citizens have access to urban green spaces within 300 m from their homes. Therefore, UGS are an important part of the City's identity, making their reasonable management vital, especially during crises. The respondents indicated that the existing UGS needed more lighting, rubbish bins, and benches as places of respite. Results of the expert interview showed that the COVID‐19 pandemic has affected urban green spaces management. The results may influence urban green spaces management, and the research is an innovative combination of spatial analysis, a qualitative approach (expert interview), and a quantitative method (a survey) proposing new procedures for analysing UGS. Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyse the integration of structure, strategy and culture in the design of a management system in selected municipal offices. Design/methodology/approach: The goal was implemented through own research, which was carried out in selected municipalities and was of a pilot nature. A questionnaire and interview were used for the research. Findings: The conclusion that has been made was that in the analysed municipalities, the vision and mission of the municipalities specified in the strategy are consistent with politics. However, in the strategy, there are no records regarding structure and culture in the analysed municipalities. The structure, strategy and culture are not integrated (or are to a lesser extent), and thus these are not components in the design of an integrated management system. Research limitations/implications: The results of the conducted research may be an inspiration for further work related to the issues of management in public administration. A limitation is the difficulty in conducting research in the offices (including reluctance to complete questionnaires). Practical implications: Improving management in municipal offices. Social implications: This depends on the management in the office as to whether a given municipality is developing or not. This translates into the quality of life of the inhabitants. Cities play a fundamental role in the economic development of the country. The vast majority of jobs, innovations and services are concentrated in the cities, thereby determining the country's economy. Currently, the Smart City is the key concept of sustainable urban development throughout the world. It covers a broad spectrum of issues related to effective, sustainable city management. Today, Kraków faces important challenges in the field of socio-economic and functional development. For years, the city's authorities have been undertaking activities aimed at making Kraków a smart and modern metropolis, based on scientific potential, while maintaining the unique historical and cultural heritage. The aim of the present work is to analyse the effectiveness of implementing the Smart City concept in Kraków. To achieve that goal, the most important resources, challenges and development aspirations of Kraków have been examined. The strategic objectives set out in the Kraków Development Strategy and the degree of development of selected elements and systems of the city were also analysed. An important element of the work is a questionnaire-based survey carried out among the residents of Kraków. The results of the analyses do not fully confirm the effectiveness of the measures implemented. A city that aspires to become a strong European metropolis should improve solutions to its current development problems, the most important of which include air quality and transport nuisance. The aim of the article was to present and examine the level of competitiveness of the districts (poviats) of Małopolska province, and compare them with each other in this respect. The analysis included three dimensions: social, economic, and environmental. This subdivision results from the direction of implementing the principles of sustainable development. In each dimension, typical variables have been selected, which facilitated the determination of respective competitive positions of each district. The study was based on a multivariate space of variables, using one of the methods of taxonomic classification - Ward's agglomeration, and combinatorial operative method of enabling separation of homogeneous clusters in respect to the studied phenomenon. In order to determine similarities between individual units (districts called poviats, or counties), matrix of Euclidean distances was used. Analyses have shown that towns with district rights tend to enjoy high competitive positions, as well as those districts located in the southern part of the Małopolska province. The aim of this article is to determine the impact of the investment activities on the spatial order and the image perception of the city of Zakopane. The research is based upon the analysis of spatial planning in Poland, as a comprehensive action related to the rational management of space; as well as the survey (by questionnaire) carried out among 61 respondents. Activities carried out by public authorities and citizens, as well as the investment projects they undertake, have been having a huge impact on the spatial order, and on the perceived image of the analysed town. The changes, which have been made, affected the vertical and horizontal spatial infrastructure of the city, causing many problem situations related to the blurring of boundaries between areas of varying functions, and interfering with the spatial order through improper planning decisions, thus leading to disharmony between the newly created buildings and the already existing built environment.
