We introduce two-dimensional (2D) 71Ga-77Se through-bond and through-space correlation experiments. Such correlations are achieved using (i) the J-mediated Refocused Insensitive Nuclei Enhanced by Polarization Transfer (J-RINEPT) method with 71Ga excitation and 77Se Carr-Purcell-Meiboon-Gill (CPMG) detection, as well as (ii) the J- or dipolar-mediated Hetero-nuclear Multiple-Quantum Correlation (J- or D-HMQC) schemes with 71Ga excitation and quadrupolar CPMG (QCPMG) detection. These methods are applied to the crystalline β-Ga2Se3 and the 0.2Ga2Se3-0.8GeSe2 glass. Such glass leads to a homogeneous and reproducible glass-ceramic, which is a good alternative to single-crystalline Ge and polycrystalline ZnSe materials for making lenses transparent in the IR range for thermal imaging applications. We show that 2D 71Ga-77Se correlation experiments allow resolving the 77Se signals of molecular units, which are not resolved in the 1D 77Se CPMG spectrum. Additionally, the build-up curves of the J-RINEPT and the J-HMQC experiments allow the estimate of the 71Ga-77Se J-couplings via one and three-bonds in the three-dimensional network of β-Ga2Se3. Furthermore, these build-up curves show that the one-bond 1J71Ga-77Se couplings in the 0.2Ga2Se3-0.8GeSe2 glass are similar to those measured for β-Ga2Se3. We also report 2D 71Ga Satellite Transition Magic-Angle Spinning (STMAS) spectrum of β-Ga2Se3 using QCPMG detection at high magnetic field and high Magic-Angle Spinning frequency using large radio frequency field. Such spectrum allows separating the signal of β-Ga2Se3 and that of an impurity.

5. Characterization of Micro-Threaded Stem Taper Surfaces of Cementless Hip Endoprostheses.

- Abstract
We investigated micro-threaded stem taper surface and its impact on premature failures, aseptic loosening, and infection in cementless hip endoprostheses. Our study focused on the fretting, and crevice corrosion of micro-threaded tapers, as well as the characterization of the microstructure and surface properties of two new and three retrieved Zweymüller stem tapers. The retrieved samples were selected and examined based on the head-stem taper interface being the sole source of modularity with a metallic component, specifically between the Ti alloy taper stem and the ceramic head. To determine the surface chemistry and microstructures of both new and retrieved hip endoprostheses stem taper titanium alloy, scanning -electron microscopy (SEM) was employed for morphological and microstructural analyses. Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) was utilized for characterizing chemical element distribution, and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) was used for phase analysis. The roughness of the micro-threated stem tapers from different manufacturers was investigated using an optical profilometer, with standard roughness parameters Ra (average surface roughness) and Rz (mean peak to valley height of the roughness profile) being measured. Electrochemical studies revealed no fretting corrosion in retrieved stem tapers with ceramic heads. Consequently, three retrieved tapers and two new ones for comparison underwent potentiodynamic measurements in Hank's solution to determine the corrosion rate of new and retrieved stem taper surfaces. The results showed a low corrosion rate for both new and prematurely failed retrieved samples due to aseptic loosening. However, the corrosion rate was higher in infected and low-grade infected tapers. In conclusion, our study suggests that using ceramic heads reduces taper corrosion and subsequently decreases the incidence of premature failures in total hip arthroplasty.

6. The Impact of Al 2 O 3 Particles from Grit-Blasted Ti6Al7Nb (Alloy) Implant Surfaces on Biocompatibility, Aseptic Loosening, and Infection.

- Abstract
For the improvement of surface roughness, titanium joint arthroplasty (TJA) components are grit-blasted with Al
2 O3 (corundum) particles during manufacturing. There is an acute concern, particularly with uncemented implants, about polymeric, metallic, and corundum debris generation and accumulation in TJA, and its association with osteolysis and implant loosening. The surface morphology, chemistry, phase analysis, and surface chemistry of retrieved and new Al2 O3 grit-blasted titanium alloy were determined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and confocal laser fluorescence microscopy, respectively. Peri-prosthetic soft tissue was studied with histopathology. Blasted retrieved and new stems were exposed to human mesenchymal stromal stem cells (BMSCs) for 7 days to test biocompatibility and cytotoxicity. We found metallic particles in the peri-prosthetic soft tissue. Ti6Al7Nb with the residual Al2 O3 particles exhibited a low cytotoxic effect while polished titanium and ceramic disks exhibited no cytotoxic effect. None of the tested materials caused cell death or even a zone of inhibition. Our results indicate a possible biological effect of the blasting debris; however, we found no significant toxicity with these materials. Further studies on the optimal size and properties of the blasting particles are indicated for minimizing their adverse biological effects.- Published

7. Laser-Fabricated 2D Molybdenum Disulfide Electronic Sensor Arrays for Rapid, Low-Cost, Ultrasensitive Detection of Influenza A and SARS-Cov-2.

- Abstract
Multiplex electronic antigen sensors for detection of SARS-Cov-2 spike glycoproteins and hemagglutinin from influenza A are fabricated using scalable processes for straightforward transition to economical mass-production. The sensors utilize the sensitivity and surface chemistry of a 2D MoS
2 transducer for attachment of antibody fragments in a conformation favorable for antigen binding with no need for additional linker molecules. To make the devices, ultra-thin layers (3 nm) of amorphous MoS2 are sputtered over pre-patterned metal electrical contacts on a glass chip at room temperature. The amorphous MoS2 is then laser annealed to create an array of semiconducting 2H-MoS2 transducer regions between metal contacts. The semiconducting crystalline MoS2 region is functionalized with monoclonal antibody fragments complementary to either SARS-CoV-2 S1 spike protein or influenza A hemagglutinin. Quartz crystal microbalance experiments indicate strong binding and maintenance of antigen avidity for antibody fragments bound to MoS2 . Electrical resistance measurements of sensors exposed to antigen concentrations ranging from 2-20 000 pg mL-1 reveal selective responses. 8. On being a client with posttraumatic stress disorder: Interactions with treatment providers and institutional barriers.

- Abstract
Premature dropout from psychological treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is common. Little research has sought to understand perceptions of treatment and barriers to treatment in this population. This study analyzed anonymous posts among an online community of individuals with PTSD (93 forum users comprising 158 posts regarding treatment providers and 40 forum users comprising 50 posts regarding institutional barriers). Results indicated that individuals with PTSD desire greater clarity about expectations for treatment, collaboration toward treatment goals, open discussion of client-therapist boundaries, and increased validation among therapists in response to trauma disclosure. Individuals with PTSD also reported multiple systemic issues that were barriers to treatment including a lack of available services in their area, being placed on a waitlist for long periods of time, the cost of treatment as a financial burden, and poor crisis response in emergency rooms. Findings indicated areas of growth for treatment providers which will help inform future treatment studies in improving care and treatment adherence among individuals with PTSD., (© 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.)

9. Sexual addiction 25 years on: A systematic and methodological review of empirical literature and an agenda for future research.

- Abstract
In 1998, Gold and Heffner authored a landmark review in Clinical Psychology Review on the topic of sexual addiction that concluded that sexual addiction, though increasingly popular in mental health settings, was largely based on speculation, with virtually no empirical basis. In the more than two decades since that review, empirical research around compulsive sexual behaviors (which subsumes prior research about sexual addiction) has flourished, ultimately culminating in the inclusion of a novel diagnosis of Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder in the eleventh edition of the World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases. The present work details a systematic review of empirical research published between January 1st, 1995 and August 1st, 2020 related to compulsive sexual behaviors, with a specific focus on evaluating the methodologies of that literature. This review yielded 371 papers detailing 415 individual studies. In general, the present review finds that, although research related to compulsive sexual behaviors has proliferated, much of this work is characterized by simplistic methodological designs, a lack of theoretical integration, and an absence of quality measurement. Moreover, the present review finds a virtual absence of high-quality treatment-related research published within this time frame. 10. Increasing Resident Physician Well-Being through a Motivational Fitness Curriculum: A Pilot Study.

- Abstract
Introduction: Healthcare professionals who participate in regular exercise better manage job related stressors, utilize fewer sick days, and discuss fitness with patients at increased rates. Although resident physicians are aware of the health benefits of exercise their rates of exercise are much lower than among medical trainees and practicing physicians. Resident physicians have reported lack of time for traditional structured workouts as one of the greatest barriers to fitness. This study sought to increase resident physician well-being by providing brief workouts through a motivational fitness curriculum., Methods: This pilot study utilized a nonexperimental design; a pre-/post-intervention consisted of a 10-month motivational fitness curriculum. Thirteen family medicine residents at a training program in the midwestern United States participated in this study. The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) and the Abbreviated Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-9) were used to measure the participants' well-being, pre- and post-curriculum. Standard descriptive statistics and paired samples t-test were used to analyze the data., Results: Twenty-eight percent (13/36) of eligible first-year and second-year family medicine resident physicians participated in the study. On the DASS-21, study participants displayed an improvement in depression, anxiety, and stress scores post-curriculum. On the MBI-9, the participants reported decreased score in emotional exhaustion, but there were no changes in depersonalization and personal accomplishment scores over time., Conclusion: A motivational fitness curriculum may be a convenient way to support well-being among resident physicians. 12. Probing the Transformation of Boron Nitride Catalysts under Oxidative Dehydrogenation Conditions.

- Abstract
Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and boron nitride nanotubes (BNNT) were recently reported as highly selective catalysts for the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of alkanes to olefins in the gas phase. Previous studies revealed a substantial increase in surface oxygen content after exposure to ODH conditions (heating to ca. 500 °C under a flow of alkane and oxygen); however, the complexity of these materials has thus far precluded an in-depth understanding of the oxygenated surface species. In this contribution, we combine advanced NMR spectroscopy experiments with scanning electron microscopy and soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy to characterize the molecular structure of the oxygen functionalized phase that arises on h-BN and BNNT following catalytic testing for ODH of propane. The pristine BN materials are readily oxidized and hydrolyzed under ODH reaction conditions to yield a phase consisting of three-coordinate boron sites with variable numbers of hydroxyl and bridging oxide groups which is denoted B(OH)
x O3- x (where x = 0-3). Evidence for this robust oxide phase revises previous literature hypotheses of hydroxylated BN edges as the active component on h-BN.- Published

13. Practical Guides for X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS): First Steps in planning, conducting and reporting XPS measurements.

Over the past three decades, the widespread utility and applicability of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) in research and applications has made it the most popular and widely used method of surface analysis. Associated with this increased use has been an increase in the number of new or inexperienced users which has led to erroneous uses and misapplications of the method. This article is the first in a series of guides assembled by a committee of experienced XPS practitioners that are intended to assist inexperienced users by providing information about good practices in the use of XPS. This first guide outlines steps appropriate for determining whether XPS is capable of obtaining the desired information, identifies issues relevant to planning, conducting and reporting an XPS measurement, and identifies sources of practical information for conducting XPS measurements. Many of the topics and questions addressed in this article also apply to other surface-analysis techniques.

14. Aerobic Oxidations of Light Alkanes over Solid Metal Oxide Catalysts.

- Abstract
Heterogeneous metal oxide catalysts are widely studied for the aerobic oxidations of C
1 -C4 alkanes to form olefins and oxygenates. In this review, we outline the properties of supported metal oxides, mixed-metal oxides, and zeolites and detail their most common applications as catalysts for partial oxidations of light alkanes. By doing this we establish similarities between different classes of metal oxides and identify common themes in reaction mechanisms and research strategies for catalyst improvement. For example, almost all partial alkane oxidations, regardless of the metal oxide, follow Mars-van Krevelen reaction kinetics, which utilize lattice oxygen atoms to reoxidize the reduced metal centers while the gaseous O2 reactant replenishes these lattice oxygen vacancies. Many of the most-promising metal oxide catalysts include V5+ surface species as a necessary constituent to convert the alkane. Transformations involving sequential oxidation steps (i.e., propane to acrylic acid) require specific reaction sites for each oxidation step and benefit from site isolation provided by spectator species. 15. Selective oxidative dehydrogenation of propane to propene using boron nitride catalysts.

The exothermic oxidative dehydrogenation of propane reaction to generate propene has the potential to be a game-changing technology in the chemical industry. However, even after decades of research, selectivity to propene remains too low to be commercially attractive because of overoxidation of propene to thermodynamically favored CO
2 Here, we report that hexagonal boron nitride and boron nitride nanotubes exhibit unique and hitherto unanticipated catalytic properties, resulting in great selectivity to olefins. As an example, at 14% propane conversion, we obtain selectivity of 79% propene and 12% ethene, another desired alkene. Based on catalytic experiments, spectroscopic insights, and ab initio modeling, we put forward a mechanistic hypothesis in which oxygen-terminated armchair boron nitride edges are proposed to be the catalytic active sites., (Copyright © 2016, American Association for the Advancement of Science.)- Published

- Abstract
The use of cellulose materials for biomedical applications is attractive due to their low cost, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. Specific processing of cellulose to yield nanofibrils further improves mechanical properties and suitability as a tissue engineering substrate due to the similarity to the fibrous structure, porosity, and size-scale of the native extracellular matrix. In order to generate the substrate, nanocellulose hydrogels were fabricated from carboxylated cellulose nanofibrils via hydrogelation using metal salts. Hydrogels cross-linked with Ca(2+) and Fe(3+) were investigated as tissue culture substrates for C3H10T1/2 fibroblast cells. Control substrates as well as those with physically adsorbed and covalently attached fibronectin protein were evaluated with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Significantly more cells were attached to surfaces modified with protein, with the highest number of cells adhered to the calcium cross-linked hydrogels with covalently attached protein.

17. Enhanced guest affinity and enantioselectivity through variation of the Gd3+ [15-metallacrown-5] side chain.

- Abstract
Supramolecular hosts that bind guests reversibly are investigated for potential catalysis and separations applications. Chiral Ln(3+)[15-Metallacrown-5] metallocavitands bind carboxylate guests in hydrophobic cavities generated by their ligand side chains. A thermodynamic study on Gd(3+)[15-metallacrown-5] hosts with ligands bearing phenyl side chains containing 0, 1, and 2 methylene spacers (1-pgHA, 1-pheHA, 1-hpheHA, respectively) is presented to quantitatively assess how guest affinity and chiral selectivity can be enhanced through changes to the ligand side chain. Guest binding affinity was measured with cyclic voltammetry using ferrocene carboxylate as a redox probe. K(a) values between ferrocene carboxylate and 1-pgHA and 1-pheHA were 4800 ± 400 M(-1) and 4400 ± 700 M(-1), respectively. Significantly stronger binding affinity of 12,100 ± 700 M(-1) was measured with 1-hpheHA, a result of the longer side-chains more completely encapsulating the guest. A similar trend was observed with benzoate. The side chain also influenced enantioselectivity, as K(S)/K(R) values of up to 2.2 ± 0.6 were measured. The side chain dependent guest binding supports the development of highly selective Ln(3+)[15-Metallacrown-5] hosts for use in catalysis and separations through careful ligand design.

- Abstract
Since 1978, the vote reported for House incumbents in the American National Election Studies (NES) has been significantly higher than the actual incumbents' vote in the districts surveyed; in NES surveys before 1978, the reported vote was much closer to the actual vote. The prime suspect for the source of this bias is the new question format introduced in 1978 and used in all subsequent studies. We document the problem and review the results of several question-wording experiments that confirm the superior accuracy of a format that does not mention the candidates' names over the ballot format currently in use. We also find evidence that a modified version of the ballot format may reduce the pro-incumbent bias, so that improvement may be possible without a major interruption of the post-1978 NES times series.
