This study examines the relationships between lean manufacturing, green supply chain management (GSCM), supply chain resilience (SCR), and firm performance in Thai manufacturing companies. Using data from 322 employees across various industries, the research employs co-variance-based structural equation modelling to test a series of hypotheses. The findings reveal that lean manufacturing has significant positive effects on both GSCM practices and firm performance. GSCM practices demonstrate a strong positive impact on SCR. However, contrary to expectations, the study finds no significant direct relationship between GSCM practices and firm performance, nor between SCR and firm performance. The hypothesized mediating roles of GSCM practices and SCR in the relationship between lean manufacturing and firm performance are not supported. These results suggest that while lean manufacturing and GSCM practices contribute to improved operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, their translation into enhanced financial performance may be more complex than previously thought. The study contributes to existing literature by providing empirical evidence from the Thai manufacturing context and highlights the need for further research into how operational improvements in lean and green practices can be converted into tangible financial outcomes. Utilizing an interpretive research strategy, we collected qualitative data from mini-grid companies, regulatory authorities, and a global financial institution that funds renewable energy projects across the continent. Our findings reveal a range of supply chain issues related to importation processes, economic policies, regulatory frameworks, logistics, skills shortage, and corruption. Additionally, we identified sustainability challenges such as a lack of environmental awareness and inadequate end-of-life management practices. To address these issues, we propose green supply chain management practices like recycling, responsible sourcing, and carbon footprint assessment. We also advocate leveraging Industry 4.0 technologies—including the Internet of Things, blockchain, and big data analytics—for smart metering and energy management. This study offers vital insights into the supply chain and sustainability challenges within the renewable energy sector, presenting practical solutions through the integration of green supply chain management and industry 4.0 technologies. Also, by addressing barriers unique to a developing economy, the research provides insights into actionable strategies for policymakers and industry stakeholders to enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and promote sustainable development. Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) has gained significant attention across various industries due to its potential to incorporate sustainable practices throughout a product's lifecycle. However, the construction industry lacks a systematic investigation into the prevailing GSCM practices specific to its domain, resulting in limited implementation. This study aims to address this gap by conducting a systematic literature review on the various GSCM practices applicable within construction. Through the systematic literature review (SLR), existing research on GSCM in construction is synthesized, allowing for the identification of key themes, trends, and performance evaluation criteria. To further expand the existing knowledge base on GSCM in the construction industry, this study proposes a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model to assess the performance of GSCM practices in construction. The model incorporates diverse evaluation criteria encompassing environmental, economic, organizational, and social aspects identified through the SLR. The developed model serves as a benchmark, empowering decision-makers in the construction industry to assess their current supply chain practices, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions to enhance sustainable thinking. In the current dynamic market, businesses have recognized the pivotal role of data and sustainability technologies in attaining competitive advantage. Big Data Analytics-Artificial Intelligence and Green Supply Chain Management are significant sustainability promotion strategies. The research collected data from 220 employees in the Taiwanese manufacturing sector with the help of a survey methodology. The findings revealed significant impacts of Big Data Analytics-Artificial Intelligence on both green supply chain management and supply chain ambidexterity. Moreover, supply chain ambidexterity significantly influences green supply chain management. Lastly, supply chain ambidexterity was also found to mediate the relationship between Big Data Analytics-Artificial Intelligence and green supply chain management. This study provides several implications for fostering a responsible economy. This study aims to examine the influence of green human resource management (GHRM) and green supply chain management (GSCM) on triple bottom line performance in Indonesian hospitals, with a focus on the moderating role of green organizational culture and the mediating effect of GSCM. Primary data were collected from 850 functional procurement staff in hospitals under Indonesia's Ministry of Health through questionnaires distributed between March and June 2024. A total of 265 respondents were selected using disproportionate stratified random sampling based on the Krejcie method with a 5 percent margin of error. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that GHRM significantly enhances environmental and social performance but has no effect on economic performance. GSCM effectively mediates the relationship between GHRM and triple bottom line performance. Additionally, green organizational culture strengthens the relationship between GHRM and environmental performance but does not moderate its relationship with economic performance. The study highlights the importance of integrating green practices into hospital operations, particularly through eco-friendly employee training, supply chain efficiency, waste reduction, and the cultivation of a green organizational culture to promote sustainability. The study recommends the adoption of environmentally friendly practices to ensure long-term environmental health, social responsibility, and resource conservation in hospitals. This research explores the relationships between green supply chain management (GSCM), lean management (LM), corporate social responsibility (CSR), and business performance (BP) in the industrial sector of Saudi Arabia. The project is implemented within the Vision 2030 framework, which aspires to green the Saudi economy by transitioning it from reliance on hydrocarbons to a diversified, sustainable economy. A quantitative approach was implemented, which involved the application of the structural equation modeling analysis for the survey data from 345 managers in the industrial sector in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Region. The results revealed that GSCM directly makes a significant contribution to LM, CSR, and BP. Also, the study found that LM was the positive factor that mediated the relationship between GSCM and BP. Nevertheless, no such associations were found between CSR and BP, nor was there an indirect effect of CSR as the mediator variable. The research underscores the supreme role lean management plays in translating environmentally friendly supply chain practices into better business performance. It reveals that industrial companies wishing to gain the advantages of narrowing their supply chain by using green practices should also simultaneously implement a lean management system to improve efficiency. Purpose: This study aims to examine the impacts of institutional pressures and individual adaptation performance on the adoption of green supply chain practices and reverse logistics, and their effects on production-based CO2 emissions, focusing on emerging markets with a detailed case study of Türkiye.Methodology: The research methodology employed structural equation modeling (SEM) and SmartPLS for the analysis of the data. This approach allowed for an in-depth examination of the relationships between institutional pressures, individual adaptive performance, green supply chain practices, reverse logistics, and CO2 emissions.Findings: The findings reveal a nuanced relationship where institutional pressures directly impact reverse logistics but show minimal direct influence on green supply chain practices or CO2 emissions reduction. In contrast, individual adaptive performance is crucial in enhancing both green supply chain practices and reverse logistics. Notably, reverse logistics is significantly effective in reducing CO2 emissions. Originality: This study enriches the literature by revealing how institutional pressures and individual adaptive performance influence green supply chain management in emerging markets, particularly demonstrating through the case of Türkiye that the impact of within-field variability on the adoption of superior practices depends on individual adaptive performance.

Leading manufacturers have struggled to extend their green supply chain management (GSCM) efforts to low-tier (the second- and even lower-tier) suppliers, but how to motivate low-tier suppliers to be involved is still a big challenge. This paper develops a low-tier GSCM model for managing second-tier suppliers. Based on stakeholder theory and literature review, this paper develops 25 drivers for the ìnvolvement of second-tier suppliers in low-tier GSCM by a manufacturer. Using data collected from 29 second-tier suppliers of a leading automobile manufacturer, this study identified 17 critical drivers. The Grey-DEMATEL method was used to examine the cause-effect relationships to reveal prominent and elemental drivers. Based on the evaluation by managers from the manufacturer, one first-tier supplier, and six second-tier suppliers, comparative analysis of the DEMATEL results show that the manufacturer understands the prominent role of second-tier suppliers for its low-tier GSCM implementation while second-tier suppliers know little about the manufacturer's requirements and the first-tier supplier ignores the importance of internal drivers by second-tier suppliers. In the long term, the manufacturer considers itself as the crucial firm for low-tier GSCM, but according to first- and second-tier suppliers, promoting policies by the government such as GSCM-related demonstration projects are also elemental. This study provides directions for multi-tier GSCM studies on the theoretical development about how to effectively involve second-tier suppliers by unveiling the difference in the understanding of drivers among firms along supply chains. Abstract This study aims to identify and analyze the barriers to Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) in the footwear industry of Bangladesh, which is essential for improving sustainability and gaining a potential benefit in the global market. Despite the growth of Bangladesh’s footwear industry, environmental challenges and a lack of green practices have hindered its ability to meet international standards. The study employs a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making approach, combining Stepwise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) and Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) with MICMAC (Cross-Impact Matrix Multiplication Applied to Classification) analysis. Using literature reviews and expert opinions from industry professionals, 19 barriers were initially identified, which were narrowed down to 12 for further analysis. SWARA was used to rank these barriers, while ISM-MICMAC was applied to assess the interrelationships between them. The findings reveal that the most significant barriers to GSCM implementation are insufficient training and poor supplier commitment, followed by a lack of knowledge and experience. The ISM-MICMAC analysis highlights the interdependencies among these barriers, suggesting that addressing one may impact others. This research is novel in its application of a hybrid SWARA-ISM-MICMAC approach to the footwear industry, a sector in Bangladesh that has not been extensively studied in the context of GSCM. The study provides practical implications for managers and policymakers by offering insights into the most critical barriers and their interrelations, guiding targeted interventions. By addressing these barriers, the footwear industry can enhance its sustainability practices, improve market competitiveness, and meet growing environmental demands.

Due to increasing environmental awareness and legislation, green supply chain management (GSCM) is essential for organizations. Despite significant research on GSCM principles, there is limited clarity on their specific application to sustainable sourcing and distribution. The research aims to clarify the core principles of GSCM, differentiate sustainable sourcing and distribution concepts, evaluate theoretical frameworks guiding GSCM practices, investigate recent innovations, and identify challenges and barriers to GSCM. This review explores GSCM with a focus on sustainable sourcing and distribution by utilizing the Scopus database. The database is searched from Jan 17th, 2024 to August 25th, 2024. By employing Title-ABS-Key (“green supply chain management” and “sustainable sourcing” or “sustainable distribution” or “framework” or “model” or “innovation” or “challenges” or “barriers”) search, the review includes 266 papers from period 1997 to 2024. The review delves into key theoretical frameworks such as the triple bottom line, stakeholder theory, and resource-based view, etc. and discusses their application in the context of GSCM. Findings show that (i) technological advancements like blockchain, IoT, AI, and big data analytics enhance transparency, optimize logistics, and reduce environmental impact, (ii) material innovations viz. bioplastics and recycled resources promote a circular economy and resource conservation, and (iii) supplier engagement through training, incentives, and collaboration foster sustainable practices. For green distribution, eco-friendly packaging, green transportation, and energy-efficient warehousing are important. The review also illustrates the best practices for the GSCM. The paper also addresses challenges including financial barriers, technological limitations, regulatory constraints, and cultural resistance.

A complex single-valued neutrosophic (CSVN) set is a very useful tool to handle the uncertainty, inconsistency, and ambiguity of knowledge in a periodic framework. The Schweizer-Sklar (SS) t-norm (TN) and t-conorm (TCN) enhance the flexibility of a procedure for aggregation depending on its parameters, whereas the power aggregation(PA) operator prevents insufficient impact of excessively high or low arguments on the results. Based on the idea of Schweizer-Sklar power aggregation operators, this paper aims to propose a number of aggregation operators such as complex single-valued neutrosophic Schweizer-Sklar power weighted averaging (CSVNSSPWA), complex single-valued neutrosophic Schweizer-Sklar power ordered weighted averaging (CSVNSSPOWA). Weights determination to solve green supply chain management problems in the single valued neutrosophic context is accomplished through the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART). This study examines the implementation of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) practices in managing paper waste within Indonesian higher education institutions, focusing on the influence of recycling infrastructure, subjective norms, and recycling awareness on campus sustainability. Employing a quantitative approach with data from 224 students, the study utilized Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to evaluate relationships among key variables: Paper Waste Capacity (PWC), Subjective Norms (SN), Recycling Awareness (RA), and Ecosystem Sustainability (ES). Findings indicate that enhanced paper waste capacity significantly affects subjective norms around recycling, while subjective norms positively influence individual recycling awareness. Both subjective norms and recycling awareness significantly contribute to ecosystem sustainability, suggesting that GSCM practices, supported by accessible recycling infrastructure and normative reinforcement, can foster a culture of sustainability within universities. This study also highlights the importance of creating a recycling-supportive environment through social campaigns and peer initiatives. The results underscore the broader potential of GSCM as a model for promoting environmentally responsible behaviours in educational settings and beyond. While limited by its specific context, the study calls for further research across diverse institutions and regions to expand understanding of GSCM's impact on sustainability practices. Research background: The evolving business sector, driven by environmental factors and social pressure such as natural capital, global competitiveness, etc., necessitates continuous improvement and adaptation. The study presents White Supply Chain Management (WSCM), which incorporates ethical, social, and environmental practices into supply chains to enhance competitiveness. WSCM expands on Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) by integrating principles of ethics and social responsibility towards achieving the SDGs. The variables include social pressure, ethical management and corporate social responsibility, promoting holistic sustainability across all supply chains. Purpose of the article: The study's objectives were to examine the validity components of WSCM in the food sector, analyze the influence of WSCM on the long-term effectiveness of the Food Industry, and examine the WSCM model to see how it promotes long-term effectiveness in the food business. Method: The research used a quantitative survey design to elicit responses from a sample group of 664 respondents, selected using a lottery-based random sampling method with 2-3 key informants per factory, typically occupying middle to high-level executive positions. The test tool was a structural equation model. Findings & value added: The results show that WSCM and sustainable performance (SUS) are much improved by social pressure. WSCM further improves SUS. The findings emphasize the need for food sector stakeholders to interact with their publics (both internal and external), maintain ethical standards, and leverage supply chain analytics for transparency. Theoretically, the findings show how societal pressure drives sustainability through WSCM, therefore addressing issues outside of conventional Green Supply Chain Management. The study focuses on the necessity of implementing an integrated framework for managing the supply chain, comprising ethical, social, and environmental factors, and advises future research to test the WSCM framework in additional sectors and investigate its long-term effects on sustainability. Nowadays, the world is facing a crisis of sustainability challenges and industries in developed countries are making strategies to respond to those challenges by implementing green supply chain management. This study aims to present a systematic literature review of green supply chain management practices and examination of examine previous studies on green supply chain management. This study was conducted on the article data collected from the Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus databases between the years 2013 and 2023 using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematics Review and Meta Analyses (PRISMA) approach. The final method consisted of screening 83 articles, and an analysis was carried out to look for patterns of article citation, prior research settings that are nation based and field study use studies in green supply chain. Furthermore, it indicates that the amount of empirical research work on green supply chain management has increased rapidly over the last few years. The development of green supply chain management is notably significant due to its diverse advantages, including improved economic performance, adherence to stakeholder expectations, and the opportunity for innovation via digital transformation. The goal of green procurement, also called green purchasing, is to reduce waste and improve operational efficiencies to enhance sustainability. Although this practice has gained importance in recent years and garnered significant scholarly attention, there is a lack of bibliometric studies evaluating the green procurement field. To close this gap, we leverage bibliometrics to comprehensively summarize the literature and identify existing research hotspots and trends. Specifically, we employ bibliometric tools to analyze keywords, identify influential authors, universities, and research areas and reveal the most important publications in terms of citations. The analysis shows that sustainable development, sustainability, green supply chain management, and green public procurement are core topics related to green procurement. The co-citation analysis further reveals five important research clusters in the literature, namely green public procurement, green supply chain management, green supplier selection and evaluation of green performance, networked sustainable procurement, and green procurement in the construction sector. Environmental issues are increasing in importance for businesses day by day. Businesses are undergoing an environmentally focused transformation in all their activities within the value chain. Therefore, the necessity of integrating and maintaining the concept of "green" in all processes such as production, technology development, marketing, and supply chains has emerged. Topics such as environmentally sensitive production systems, green supply, and green innovation (GI) are both accepted in practice in various sectors and are examined in the literature. When the impact of green practices on the performance items of businesses is taken into consideration, it is important to examine the issue from this perspective. In this context, the aim of this study is to examine the impact of green supply chain management (GSCM) practices on GI, environmental performance (EP), and competitive advantage (CA). Within the framework of this aim, a survey was conducted on 283 businesses producing plastic, packaging, and textile products in Gaziantep (169) and Konya (114) provinces in Türkiye. In this study, where the quantitative research method was adopted, the hypotheses established were tested by using structural equation modeling (SEM). SPSS 22.0 package program and AMOS 22.0 program were used in the analysis. Within the scope of the analysis, the measurement model (confirmatory factor analysis) was first tested. As a result of the analysis, GSCM practices have a positive impact on GI and CA; GSCM has a positive impact on EP; GI has a positive impact on CA; and EP has not a positive impact on CA. This study is significant as it examines the combined impact of GSCM, GI, EP, and CA. Smart technology is essential for integrating circular economy principles. This research investigates how conflict management strategies (collaboration, accommodation, avoidance, compromise, and competition) impact the adoption of smart technology, particularly blockchain, in Jordanian SMEs. Additionally, the study explores the moderating role of customer-centric green supply chain management in the relationship between blockchain adoption and circular economy principles. This research addresses a gap in the literature by focusing on Jordanian SMEs, an under-explored context. Data were collected from 421 senior managers, department heads, and executives of Jordanian SMEs, and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), to test the hypotheses and analyze complex relationships. The findings reveal that conflict management strategies are critical in blockchain adoption, with collaboration and compromise emerging as the most influential. Moreover, blockchain adoption positively impacts the implementation of circular economy principles. The moderating effect of customer-centric green supply chain management enhances the sustainability and competitiveness of SMEs through blockchain technology. This research contributes to theory and practice by providing valuable insights into the strategic role of conflict management in driving technological innovation and sustainability within the circular economy framework, particularly in the context of Jordanian SMEs. The rise of human revolution and technological developments aimed at making people's lives more comfortable have indirectly contributed to environmental degradation, thus causing adverse effects on human health. Excessive exploitation of natural resources has drawn public attention to environmental issues both at national and international levels. This study aims to examine the effect of Green Supply Chain Management, Green Intellectual Capital, and Competitive Business Strategy on organizational performance, and to examine whether Corporate Carbon Management Strategy can strengthen the effect of Green Supply Chain Management, Green Intellectual Capital, and Competitive Business Strategy on organizational performance. The type of data used in this study is primary data in the form of financial reports of companies that are used as samples. The research method used in this study is a quantitative research method. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling method. For hypothesis testing, this study uses multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of this study, it shows that Green Supply Chain Management and Competitive Business Strategy have an effect on Organizational Performance, but Green Intellectual Capital, have not effect on Organizational Performance. Carbon Management Strategy strengthens the influence of Green Supply Chain Management and Competitive Business Strategy on Organizational Performance and Carbon Management Strategy does not strengthen the influence of Green Intellectual Capital Strategy on Organizational Performance. This study aims at investigating the relationship between the implementation of green supply chain management (GSCM) practices and the implementation of environmental performance measurement and evaluation (EPME) practices. The theoretical model was empirically validated using structural equation modelling in a survey of 199 Brazilian managers working in sustainability areas. We introduce a novel framework that bridges systems theory with the practice-based perspective of firms. The framework advances the current understanding of factors influencing EPME adoption, structuring GSCM practices as system components: inputs, processes, outputs, and feedback loops. More specifically, we identify the direct effects of different GSCM practices in the implementation of EPME but also indirect effects cascading through input, process, output, and feedback loop practices. Our research addresses industry needs for guidance on how to implement GSCM practices and facilitate EPME. Managers need to orchestrate the adoption of GSCM practices in each of these system components by monitoring of inter-organisational and intra-organisational activities of their supply chains. This study extends the knowledge in green supply chain research by investigating the impacts of green supply chain management (GSCM) practices on employee engagement and organizational commitment through firm performance. The 268 respondents included in this study were employees of firms that implemented GSCM in Thailand. Our structural model was analysed using partial least squares structural equation model (PLS-SEM). The results revealed that only social and operating performance mediated the impact of four different GSCM practices on employee engagement and organizational commitment, including environmental education, green marketing and green warehousing and distribution which have positive effects, and green manufacturing which has a negative effect on firm performance. Though these four GSCM practices are reported to have a significant influence on environmental and marketing performance, these two aspects of performance failed to mediate the relationship of these practices with employee engagement and organizational commitment. The results suggest that in order to enhance employee engagement and organizational commitment, firms should invest more in GSCM practice drivers of social and operating performance. These include environmental education, green marketing and green warehousing and distribution.
