The book will be useful to students and specialists in a wide range of disciplines related to the history and traditions of preservation of cultural heritage. The dictionary was published with the support of a grant from the President of the Russian Federation provided by the Presidential Grants Fund (project No. 19-2-017242).

The subject of the research is the analysis of associative relations between twenty emotional concepts (interest, amusement, pride, joy, pleasure, satisfaction, admiration, love, relief, compassion, sadness, guilt, sorrow, shame, disappointment, fear, disdain, disgust, hatred and anger) and twelve basic names of colurs in the Russian language (red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, violet, brown, pink, grey, black and white). The research is aimed at 1) discovering chromatic and achromatic meanings of emotions; 2)discovering syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations between color associations; 3) conduction of a linguocultural expertise of national specifics of discovered associative relations. The research is based on the on-line experiment that involved 103 Russian speakers (63 females and 40 males, the average age of resondents is 36.5, min age is 19 and max age is 78, sd=16.7). To analyze emotions, the researcher has applied the Geneva Emotion Wheel Inventory (GEW version 3.0) as a tool for self-evaluation of emotions and attitudes to a particular event. The results of the experiment have proved that Russian culture correlates the lightness of color to the valency of emotions. Positive emotions are associated with light colors and negative emotions are associated with darker colors. The closest emotional relations were demonstrated by yellow and orange, light blue and green, red and pink, black and grey. These pairs are often found as components of color images, too.

The main goal of this study is to examine how colours with different hue, lightness and saturation are associated with the words feminine and masculine. Both concepts are among the leading concepts actively circulating in society, and thus being familiar to the great majority of adherents to different cultures. Their content reflects gender stereotypes, gender roles, actual and perceived sexual orientation and significantly differs across countries and time periods. The objectives of our investigation were three-fold: (1) to reveal colour structure of both concepts in different cultures; (2) to visualize the obtained color associations and (3) to understand their cultural significance and specificity in different countries, ages, sex, and religious backgrounds.The method used in this research was previously implemented during a pilot stage in Sweden and Nepal in 2016 and first presented at the AIC2016 Conference in Santiago. Since then the number of countries extended from 2 to 9. The data in the present study was collected in Germany, Iran, Japan, Nepal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Turkey, and Uganda. The experiment participants were given 26 words, including the words feminine and masculine, and asked to match each word to a sample from a chart with 27 selected colours from the NCS system. The subjects participated in the experiment in English. They did not have any known colour defects, and they were born and lived in the same country. In total, the final dataset included 18,072 responses received from 753 participants. The results will be presented with statistics and diagrams showing the chosen colours, and analyzed in terms of how coherent are the answers and which potential patterns emerge specific to the countries and their cultural contexts. It will be possible to compare the answers of groups separately and to analyze if there are differences in the chosen colours related to the subjects’ sex, age, religion and experience of colour. The research possesses wide prospects for further development, based on the material of other cultures, together with a potential for considerable application. The obtained results could be valuable in compiling topical dictionaries and reference books, teaching activities, as well as contributing to a great spectrum of practical tasks in architecture, design and advertising communication.

The aim of this study is to investigate if there are colours that are associated with certain words. The study was conducted in nine countries (Germany, Iran, Japan, Nepal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Turkey and Uganda) to see if there are cultural differences in the way people associate colours with the words. The subjects were asked to match each of the words with only one colour. They could choose colours from the chart consisting of 27 colour samples selected from the NCS Atlas. In total, the dataset included 18,072 responses from 753 participants. The collected data were analysed by hue, chromaticness and the degree of blackness and whiteness. The results show that the colour associations with the words vary to different extent between the different countries. That indicates that there are universal associations with colours for some of the words, as well as cultural differences.

EwaGlos, which has been developed in eleven languages, highlights the crucial role that professionally developed multilingual vocabularies play in international preservation campaigns. The illustrated glossary stresses the importance of common language in the conservation field, and the role that international cooperation plays in creating this common terminology. The core of the glossary comprises approximately 200 definitions of terms frequently used in specifications in the field of conservation-restoration of wall paintings and architectural surfaces. The prefaces of the book introduce professionals, students and decision-makers to complex issues encountered in the development, and use, of such terminologies. The book concludes with an extensive bibliography in this specialized field. This is the Russian translation of the English terms of EwaGlos, including the German translation.

The aim of this study is to investigate if there are colours that are associated with the words “Health” and“Sickness”. The study was conducted in three countries, Sweden, Russia and Uganda, to see if there are culturaldifferences in the way people associate colours with the words. In each country, there were two groups of subjects,one group included colour professionals, such as design or art students, and the other group consisted of morecommon people that had no specific colour training. The subjects were asked to match each of the words withonly one colour. They could choose colours from the chart consisting of 27 colour samples selected from the NCSAtlas. The collected data were analysed separately by three values, specifying the hue, the degree of blackness,and the chromaticness. We revealed that colour associations with the words “Health” and “Sickness” usingcolours vary between different countries. However, we revealed unique colours with the strongest links to thewords “Health” and “Sickness” for all of the experimental groups. That indicates that there are universalassociations with colours that can help to promote health and wellness.

The article is devoted to the exploring of general laws in the development of social and cultural subsystems of society. The integration of the society and the culture in urban space can be implemented with a wide range of cultural codes that mark belonging to certain social groups. Along with the well characterized verbal communication system there is a "language of objects" in urban space. Analysis of the principles of social differentiation of this "language of objects" and description of the mechanisms of homomorphism of social and cultural subsystems are restricted and concentrated on the material of architectural forms and study of a certain position (physical location), which different social groups occupy in the urban space. The paper analyzes the mechanism of color transformation of substance for the purpose of recording the social meanings and receiving "benefits" of its social features. Special attention is given to the mode of being of color in urban space. Color markers assume a complex structure, in which the color "loses" its substance, its obvious connection to any material, and it allows to be considered as a kind of field. Located side by side with or at some distance from each other, color surfaces create distinctive "compactions" in the urban color field, and their color can be examined as a special form of connection between urban substance and society and as an important material for the analysis of the social structure of the city.

A study has been performed in order to analyze the nature of specific appearance characteristics of dyes obtained with natural dyes, given the still insufficiently investigated characteristic discrepancy between visual perception of color obtained with natural dyes versus their objectively defined spectral characteristics. As a source of dye following raw material have been used: pomegranate peel (chromophore: punicalagin and punicalin), onion peel (chromophore: quercetin), green walnut shells and young walnut leaves (chromophore: juglon), Aleppo pine, chamomile, ash, mint and madder. Pre-treatment of the material was performed with metal salts (wetting agents): potassium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate, copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate and iron(II) sulfate heptahydrate. Wool, silk, polyamide PA and cotton fabric samples non-treated and pretreated with metal salts were dyed with natural pigments listed above. After the dyeing, a colorimetric study based on objective spectrophotometric measurement was performed. An evaluation of the color parameters of each sample was performed (L *, a *, b *, C *, h). Based on objective and subjective analysis of color hue, an analysis of specific differences between subjective perception and objective measurement in the area of specific chromatic- achromatic shades obtained by natural pigments, has been carried out. In addition, an analysis of the color strength regarding the different types of fabric samples as well as different types of mordanting was performed.

According ecological lifestyle trends, natural dyes are experiencing their revitalization in the field of textile application. Many designers opt for a sustainable style and realize color palettes with natural dyes using traditional techniques and methods. However, in modern times, the use of natural dyes must be supported by scientific research due to care for human health and the environment, i.e. the choice of resources, conservation of natural habitats, ensuring the color fastness, selection and optimization of the use of mordant, etc. Textiles dyed with natural dyes have specifically beautiful and harmonious dye tones, and in the field of toxicology avoids the harmful effects of synthetic dyes. In addition, natural dyes have antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal properties, their beneficial effect on human skin and health in general, is examined. In this study, dyeing of cotton material with natural dye of animal origin extracted from the insect Dactylopius coccus was carried out. Metal salts potassium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate, copper(II) sulphate pentahydrate and iron(II)sulfate heptahydrate were used in the pre-treatment process as mordants on cotton fabric in order to obtain coloration of specific purple hue. The influence of dye concentration, type and concentration of mordants on the obtained cotton color hues and their correlation with the UV protection property was investigated. Spectral color properties based on spectrophotometric measurement and are shown as the Kubelka-Munk coefficients (K/S) and CIEL*a*b* color values. The fabric UV protection was determined according to AS/NZS 4399:1996 Sun Protective Clothing: evaluation and classification, by UV-A and UV-B transmission measurement on transmission spectrophotometer and calculation of Ultraviolet protection factor (UPF). The obtained results prove that by dyeing textiles with cochineal dye with mordant pretreatment can significantly affect the protective properties of cotton material from UV radiation. Fabrics dyed with cochineal dye (without the addition of electrolytes and the use of mordant) have a UPF value ranging from 10 to 15. The addition of electrolytes increases the K/S values and the UPF value of fabrics increases to 20. A significant increase in UPF values is achieved by using mordants. For samples pre-treated with aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate UPF is 40, with copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate up to 35 and the highest values are achieved with iron(II) sulfate heptahydrate for i.e. UPF 50+. Research has shown that textile material dyed with cochineal dye provides good protection against harmful solar radiation, i.e. the material treated in this way has a higher UPF value (up to UPF 50+) compared to the untreated. Cochineal colored cotton offers protection against UVB radiation, and therefore it may reduce the risk of subsequent occurrence of skin cancer.
