An abstract of the conference paper "Safety of anti-TNF therapy: 10 year experience in pediatric patients from a single tertiary center," by G. Espada and colleagues is presented.

Background/purpose: Adequate transition from pediatric to adult care is associated with better adherence to treatment and better outcomes in pediatric patients with chronic diseases. There are little data on transition programs, outcomes, use of transition guidelines, and available tools in pediatric rheumatology centers from Latin America (LATAM). In this study, we described the characteristics of transition programs from 3 pediatric rheumatology centers. We also introduced results of the first survey examining the transition experience in countries from LATAM., Methods: The experience and implementation process of transition programs from 3 pediatric rheumatology centers were described. A survey based on a questionnaire created by Chira et al (J Rheumatol. 2014;41:768-779) from the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance was also administrated to pediatric rheumatology centers from LATAM., Results: A total of 49 (68%) pediatric rheumatologists answered the survey. The south Brazilian Hypericum species have revealed the presence of a series of biologically active phloroglucinol derivatives. In this study, a mixture of japonicine A and an isomer with an unreported structure, named japonicine E, was isolated from the roots of H. polyanthemum. Additionally, uliginosin A from H. myrianthum, isouliginosin B from H. polyanthemum, hyperbrasilol B and isohyperbrasilol B from H. caprifoliatum and cariphenone A from H. carinatum were also isolated. The structures were elucidated using 1D- and 2D-NMR experiments and by comparison with previously reported data. The compounds japonicines A/E, uliginosin A, isouliginosin B, hyperbrasilol B and cariphenone A exhibited antinociceptive activity in the mice hot-plate test and did not induce motor impairment in the rotarod apparatus., (© 2018 Wiley-VHCA AG, Zurich, Switzerland.)

Standard projective measurements (PMs) represent a subset of all possible measurements in quantum physics, defined by positive-operator-valued measures. We study what quantum measurements are projective simulable, that is, can be simulated by using projective measurements and classical randomness. We first prove that every measurement on a given quantum system can be realized by classical randomization of projective measurements on the system plus an ancilla of the same dimension. Then, given a general measurement in dimension two or three, we show that deciding whether it is PM simulable can be solved by means of semidefinite programming. We also establish conditions for the simulation of measurements using projective ones valid for any dimension. As an application of our formalism, we improve the range of visibilities for which two-qubit Werner states do not violate any Bell inequality for all measurements. From an implementation point of view, our work provides bounds on the amount of white noise a measurement tolerates before losing any advantage over projective ones.

The theme of users' rights has become a central issue in contemporary debate on mental health. Drawing from the experiences of "Comitê Cidadão" (Citizen Committee), consisting of users and family members in an international research alliance between Brazil and Canada, an attempt is made to discuss the effects of the experience of co-management of the so-called Autonomous Medication Administration (GAM - Gestão Autônoma da Medicação) participatory research project on these individuals. By means of a detailed description of the background of the Committee and interviews and analysis of the voice transcriptions of its members, the problems raised by the relation of dialogue between scientific knowledge and users' knowledge are examined in a methodological approach of participatory research. As a result of the research, it was established that the experience of the Citizens Committee in co-management of health research can be propitious to the increase in the degree of autonomy, greater empowerment and the exercise of leadership and citizenship, with the consequent emergence of subjects with rights.
