Abstract

We consider a 2D stochastic wave equation driven by a Gaussian noise, which is temporally white and spatially colored described by the Riesz kernel. Our first main result is the functional central limit theorem for the spatial average of the solution. And we also establish a quantitative central limit theorem for the marginal and the rate of convergence is described by the total-variation distance. Abstract

Polycrystalline samples of Fe2BiMO7 (M = Sb, Ta) compounds with pyrochlore-type structure were synthesized for the first time by the molten salts method. The compounds were obtained in one hour at 950 C. The structures were determined by Rietveld refinement. Abstract

Lagrangian relaxation with subgradient iterations is applied to the problem of optimal restoration of distribution systems after a blackout. The method breaks the restoration horizon into intervals and develops a restoration plan by finding the status of each of the feeders at each time interval. The Lagrangian relaxation approach allows a computationally efficient calculation of the timing and selection of feeders to be energized. The subgradient iterative approach relates to the selection of a vector of Lagrange multipliers in the optimization process. A restoration index obtained from the dual formulation of the problem is also shown. This index identifies the feeders that are closer to restoration. The proposed algorithm applies to radially configured distribution systems and is an operator-permissive, automated approach. Exampies are shown including a 100-feeder restoration case. Abstract

This paper solves the distribution system restoration problem using dynamic programming with state reduction. The algorithm is an operator-permissive, automated approach to the restoration of distribution systems after a blackout. The timing and selection of feeders to be energized are represented as states in a dynamic programming formulation. An enhanced dynamic programming method reduces the number of states by grouping states that are close to each other and selecting the best state. The algorithm was tested on an 8 feeder/32 load distribution system. The method is applicable to radially configured systems. Abstract

Depuis une vingtaine d'années, la croissance des villes françaises se caractérise par un véritable éclatement géographique de leurs limites. Tout un vocabulaire, soit ancien - nouvelles banlieues, suburbanisation-, soit récent et plus barbare - "rurbanisation", "naturbanisation"... -, s'efforce de définir un phénomène qui dépasse les frontières de notre territoire et que les chercheurs ont trop souvent réduit à l'analyse de la diffusion de l'habitat individuel dans les couronnes péri-urbaines, ou à l'observation du repeuplement des communes rurales à la périphérie des agglomérations. Certes, quelques interprétations générales, plus soucieuses de repérer de fructueuses continuités diachroniques que de spectaculaires mais illusoires ruptures, ont montré de quelle façon cette nouvelle croissance externe des villes, amorcée avec les années 1970, s'articule aux périodes précédentes de forte croissance économique et de "révolution urbaine". De fait, au cours des années 1960, le redéploiement spatial des activités, comme l'émergence de nouveaux rapports géographiques entre les bassins d'emploi et les aires résidentielles, ont incontestablement préparé les formes récentes et actuelles de la croissance périphérique.

Abstract

The scientific program of the MARIA S. MERIAN MSM60 expedition was the first basin-wide section across the South Atlantic following the SAMBA/SAMOC line at 34°30'S. The scientific program consisted of full water depth sampling (up to 5300m) using the CTD/O2/lADCP rosette system. The water samples have been analysed on board for oxygen, dissolved inorganic carbon, alkalinity, salinity, CFC12, and SF6. In addition samples have been taken for later analysis of nutrients, chlorophyll structure (HPLC), POC, and nitrogen isotope analysis. The sampling and measurements where performed against highest standards defined in the GO-SHIP cruise recommendations (http://www.go-ship.org/). An Underwater Vision Profiler (UVP) was mounted on the CTD for full depth particle photography. Underway measurements included hull mounted ADCPs (75kHz and 38kHz) and high resolution (11nm) XBT probes. The data will be analysed for multiple purposes including calculation of the meridional volume, heat, and freshwater transport across the SAMBA/SAMOC line. The biogeochemical data will be compared to historical data acquired at neighbouring sections, e.g. along the WOCE/GO-SHIP A10 section (30°S) occupied by RV Meteor in 1993 as part of the WOCE program. The MSM60 expedition is a contribution to the EU H-2020 AtlantOS project.

Abstract

En este trabajo se estudiaron las escalas de variabilidad de la temperatura superficial del mar (TSM) en el Río de la Plata y los procesos físicos que las producen. Se utilizaron datos diarios satelitales de TSM y viento en superficie, con resoluciones espaciales de 10 y 25 kilómetros respectivamente, y datos de caudal de los tributarios para el período julio 2002 - julio 2008. Los resultados fueron validados con datos in situ. Se encuentra que la mayor parte de la varianza está asociada al ciclo anual, sencillamente porque la amplitud de la señal de verano a invierno es grande (mayor de 13°C). Sin embargo, ocurre abundante variabilidad en la escala sub-anual, fundamentalmente vinculada a la variabilidad sinóptica del viento, en el Río Exterior. El primer modo de variabilidad en esta escala está relacionado con vientos anómalamente intensos del este o el oeste, que fuerzan la ocurrencia de núcleos más cálidos o más fríos, respecto a la temperatura del agua circundante a lo largo de la costa norte del Río Exterior, entre Montevideo y Punta del Este. Los eventos fríos se observan con mayor frecuencia en los meses de primavera y verano, con anomalías de temperatura de hasta -5.5ºC y ocurren bajo condiciones de vientos intensos del este/noreste paralelos a la costa, lo que sugiere surgencia de agua más profunda. Los eventos de surgencia observados resultaron de gran persistencia, alcanzando en varios casos una duración mayor a un mes. También presentan un marcado ciclo estacional, resultando un fenómeno muy común en la estación cálida. Su ocurrencia también parece estar modulada por la descarga continental, en la medida que ésta modifica las condiciones de estratificación a lo largo de la costa. Fil: Luz Clara Tejedor, Moira. Abstract

This letter explains the duality between the generation unit commitment problem and the distribution restoration problem. The importance of this observation is that extensive analysis and prototyping of efficient solutions to the unit commitment problem can be applied to the distribution restoration problem. Abstract

Evaluated was the seasonal and inter‐annual association between habitat variables and distribution pattern of the apron ray (Discopyge tschudii) and its relationship, with the main force on the environmental condition to understand the influence of estuarine and continental shelf processes in the coastal fishes of the Southwestern Atlantic Coastal System (34°–41°S). Two winter and five spring research surveys in the SACS were analyzed and the Perry and Smith methodology applied to determine the seasonal association of depth, temperature and salinity and the abundance of apron ray. The season with the highest inter‐annual spatial distribution variation was related to the main external force on environmental conditions (e.g. wind, atmospheric temperature, and Río de la Plata discharge and shelf water intrusion).
