Abstract To achieve high power conversion efficiency in perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells, it is necessary to develop a promising wide-bandgap perovskite absorber and processing techniques in relevance. To date, the performance of devices based on wide-bandgap perovskite is still limited mainly by carrier recombination at their electron extraction interface. Here, we demonstrate assembling a binary two-dimensional perovskite by both alternating-cation-interlayer phase and Ruddlesden−Popper phase to passivate perovskite/C60 interface. The binary two-dimensional strategy takes effects not only at the interface but also in the bulk, which enables efficient charge transport in a wide-bandgap perovskite solar cell with a stabilized efficiency of 20.79% (1 cm2). Based on this absorber, a monolithic perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell is fabricated with a steady-state efficiency of 30.65% assessed by a third party. Moreover, the tandem devices retain 96% of their initial efficiency after 527 h of operation under full spectral continuous illumination, and 98% after 1000 h of damp-heat testing (85 °C with 85% relative humidity).

The phase structure, thickness and corrosion resistance of oxidation film of 50 steel oxidized at 200∼600 °C in an air furnace were studied by AES, SEM, XRD and EIS in this paper. The results show that the concentration of surface oxygen atoms of 50 steel shows a trend of rapidly increasing to a peak, maintaining stability for a distance, then decreasing, and finally stabilizing after oxidation treatment at different temperatures. The peak concentration of oxygen atoms and the stabilization distance are found to vary with the oxidation temperature. The oxidation activation energy is 25.2 kJ/mol. With the increase of oxidation temperature, the oxide film composed of the outer Fe2O3 layer and the inner Fe3O4 layer is generated on the surface of 50 steel, and Fe2O3 is the primary constituent. Moreover, the corrosion of oxide film in NaCl solution is marked by anodic activation dissolution. The thermal oxidation samples demonstrate better corrosion resistance than the original samples with the increase of oxidation temperature, there is an upward trend in the self-corrosion potential, whereas a decreasing trend in the corrosion current density, and the capacitor-reactance arc radius is gradually increased. The maximum corrosion potential, the minimum corrosion current density and the largest capacitor-reactance arc radius are recorded at 600 °C, at which temperature it has the best corrosion resistance.

Accurately mapping crop cultivation types is essential for the sustainable development of precision agriculture. Environmental restrictions on crop growth, such as soil salinization in arid zones, generally lead to spatial crop growth heterogeneity within cropland fields, which in turn generates differences in the spectral responses reflected in optical remote sensing images of the same croplands and leads to pixel-scale crop-mapping misclassifications. Thus, through this article, we proposed a method to solve this problem at the geoparcel scale by integrating geometric features from a Gaofen-2 high-resolution remote sensing image and the spectral-temporal features derived from Sentinel-2 time series. The results showed that cropland parcels could be accurately extracted from Gaofen-2 images by employing the U-Net semantic segmentation model with an overall accuracy (OA) reaching 97% and a kappa coefficient of 0.95. Then, geoparcel-scale crop types were mapped based on prior crop phenology knowledge and the corresponding Sentinel-2 time series using the time-weighted dynamic time warping (TWDTW) classification algorithm. The parcel-based TWDTW algorithm had an OA of 99.64%, a kappa coefficient of 0.99, and optimal spatial homogeneity in the results, thus outperforming the pixel-based TWDTW method. These results provide a potential solution for mapping crops under spatially heterogeneous cropland conditions affected by various environmental constraints.

Cropland abandonment has become a global land use change phenomenon that threatens food security. Identifying abandoned cropland in time and space can provide important data for cropland and agricultural management. In tropical/subtropical monsoon areas, sufficient water and thermal conditions allow crops to grow year-round, yet the specific crops grown vary in the dry and rainy seasons. However, the lack of optical remote sensing observations in the rainy season due to massive cloud cover and rainy weather makes it difficult to monitor abandoned cropland. Furthermore, when crops have multiple maturities and abandonment patterns, the mapping of abandoned croplands using remote sensing data at the annual scale is even more challenging. To resolve these problems, we proposed an approach for identifying abandoned croplands at the growing season scale. First, we used daily MODIS data to estimate the early and late growing seasons from 2013 to 2022. Then, we synthesized all available Landsat and Sentinel data to reduce the problem of inadequate remote sensing observations in the two growing seasons. Subsequently, we determined an NDVI threshold at the start of each growing season. In addition, we obtained the fitted NDVI curves for each growing season using the LandTrendr algorithm. Then, we determined the cultivated status by comparing the fitted NDVI curves with the NDVI threshold and then generated time series cultivated/noncultivated status maps. Finally, a temporal moving window was used to scan the abovementioned maps to identify abandoned cropland. The results showed that the proposed approach used to identify cropland abandonment achieved a favorable overall accuracy. From 2013 to 2014, a small amount of abandoned cropland concentrated in southern Leizhou was identified. In the early growing season during 2015–2017, a small area of abandoned cropland occurred along the western coast of Suixi. Since the late growing season of 2017, the abandoned cropland area has dramatically increased. Our method eliminates the interference that short-term fallow causes in identifying abandoned land and has high accuracy in areas with multiple crop maturities. Parcel-based recognition is more accurate in identifying fragmented croplands. Our results can provide reliable evidence for successful interseasonal cropland-use monitoring and food security conservation efforts.

Abstract Objective This study explored the relationship between smokers’ health literacy, knowledge of smoking hazards, and their intention to quit. Methods Based on data from the 2019 Health Literacy and Tobacco Use Surveillance among residents of a city in Zhejiang Province, 1120 male smokers were screened. Differential tests were used to analyze whether smokers with varying levels of health literacy and knowledge about smoking hazards differed in their intention to quit smoking and the intensity of their intention. A multi-factor logistic regression model was constructed to explore the extent of these differences. Results Only 24.8% of smokers had higher health literacy. A shallow water equations-based model with an improved local time-stepping (LTS) scheme is developed for modeling coastal hydrodynamics across multiple scales, from large areas to detailed local regions. To enhance the stability of the shallow water model for long-duration simulations and at larger LTS gradings, a prediction-correction method using a single-layer interface that couples coarse and fine time discretizations is adopted. The proposed scheme improves computational efficiency with an acceptable additional computational burden and ensures accurate conservation of time truncation errors in a discrete sense. The model performance is verified with respect to conservation and computational efficiency through two idealized tests: the spreading of a drop of shallow water and a tidal flat/channel system. The results of both tests demonstrate that the improved LTS scheme maintains precision as the LTS grading increases, preserves conservation properties, and significantly improves computational efficiency with a speedup ratio of up to 2.615. Furthermore, we applied the LTS scheme to simulate tides at grid scales of 40,000 m to 200 m for a portion of the Northwest Pacific. The proposed model shows promise for modeling cross-scale hydrodynamics in complex coastal and ocean engineering problems.

In the context of “dual carbon” goals, governments need accurate carbon accounting results as a basis for formulating corresponding emission reduction policies. Therefore, this study proposes a combined carbon emission prediction method for urban regions, considering micro-level enterprise electricity consumption data and macro-level regional data. Considering the different applicability of prediction methods and the requirements for the data volume, a region-level carbon emission prediction method based on the long short-term memory neural network is proposed, which takes into account the micro-level electricity–carbon coupling relationship. Additionally, a region-level carbon emission prediction method based on the Stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology (STIRPAT) is proposed, considering the macro-level economic–carbon coupling relationship. The generalized induced ordered weighted averaging method is employed to assign differential weights to micro- and macro-prediction values, yielding regional carbon emission predictions. An empirical analysis is conducted using a key city in the eastern region as an example, analyzing the main influencing factors and predicting carbon emissions based on relevant data from 2017 to 2021, and the accuracy of the models is analyzed and validated.

PurposeThe regularity of epidemic prevention and control measures in China has meant that nursing students have been exposed to more electronic devices, while problematic smartphone use has increased. The purpose of this study is to determine the prospective associations among time management tendency, negative emotions, and problematic smartphone use in nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic.MethodsA longitudinal study was conducted between November 2021 and May 2022. ObjectiveThis study investigated how anticipated instrumental support sources and intergenerational support influence depressive symptoms in older Chinese adults.MethodsWe employed binary logistic regression on data from 7,117 adults aged ≥60 in the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, controlling for gender, marital status, and self-rated health.Results38.89% of respondents exhibited depressive symptoms. Anticipated support from spouse and children, spouse only, children only, or other sources showed 52, 25, 46, and 40% lower odds of depression, respectively, compared with no anticipated support. Those providing financial support had 36% higher odds of depression than those without exchanges. However, those receiving financial support, receiving instrumental support, and receiving and providing financial and emotional support had 19, 14, 23, and 24% lower odds of depression.ConclusionDifferent anticipated instrumental support sources and intergenerational support influenced depression odds in older adults, suggesting potential benefits in promoting such support systems.

Abstract Background Health literacy has always been considered as an important factor to promote people's health, but does it have a significant effect on health across all social strata and especially lower social strata? This study aims to analyze the influences of health literacy on health outcomes of different social strata, and then infer whether improving health literacy can reduce health disparities among different social strata. Methods Utilizing health literacy monitoring data from a city in Zhejiang Province in 2020, the samples are divided into three social strata according to the socioeconomic status score: low, middle and high social stratum, to compare whether there are significant differences in health outcomes between population with lower and higher health literacy among different social strata. In the strata with significant differences, control the confounding factors to further verify the influence of health literacy on health outcomes. Results In low and middle social strata, there are significant differences between population with lower and higher health literacy, when considering the two types of health outcomes (chronic diseases and self-rated health), but in high social stratum, this difference is not significant. After controlling the relevant variables, the influence of health literacy on the prevalence of chronic diseases is statistically significant only in low social stratum, and the health literacy is negatively correlated with the prevalence of chronic diseases(OR = 0.722, P = 0.022). In addition, there are statistical significances for positive impact of health literacy on self-rated health in both low and middle social strata (OR = 1.285, P = 0.047; OR = 1.401, P = 0.023). Conclusion Compared with high social stratum, the influence of health literacy on health outcomes of low social stratum (chronic diseases) or both middle and low social strata (self-rated health) is more significant, and both are to improve the health outcomes. This finding suggests that improving residents' health literacy may be an effective way to alleviate the health disparities among different social strata.

Abstract The long‐term stability issue of halide perovskite solar cells hinders their commercialization. The residual stress–strain affects device stability, which is derived from the mismatched thermophysical and mechanical properties between adjacent layers. In this work, we introduced the Rb2CO3 layer at the interface of SnO2/perovskite with the hierarchy morphology of snowflake‐like microislands and dendritic nanostructures. With a suitable thermal expansion coefficient, the Rb2CO3 layer benefits the interfacial stress relaxation and results in a compressive stress–strain in the perovskite layer. Moreover, reduced nonradiative recombination losses and optimized band alignment were achieved. An enhancement of open‐circuit voltage from 1.087 to 1.153 V in the resultant device was witnessed, which led to power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 22.7% (active area of 0.08313 cm2) and 20.6% (1 cm2). Moreover, these devices retained 95% of its initial PCE under the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) after 2700 h. It suggests inorganic materials with high thermal expansion coefficients and specific nanostructures are promising candidates to optimize interfacial mechanics, which improves the operational stability of perovskite cells.

As ecologically fragile areas, coastal zones are affected by both anthropogenic activities and climate change. However, the impacts of these factors on large nearshore mammals, such as Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins (IPHDs, Sousa chinensis), are poorly understood. Here, modeling revealed that the suitable habitats of IPHDs are affected mainly by the sea surface temperature (SST), and the habitat suitability decreases as the distance to the nearest coastline increases. In addition, anthropogenic activities involving demersal fishing, contamination and shipping have narrowed IPHD habitats and reduced the habitat suitability. We found that climate change will further narrow suitable habitats located farther than 7 km from coastlines and trigger habitat losses in the eastern Taiwan Strait by 2090–2100 under the Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 8.5 scenario. The projected decreases in habitat suitability and area emphasize the urgency of establishing connected marine protected areas (MPAs) while considering climate change, intergovernmental cooperation, and public involvement.

The interband lags among the optical broad-band continua of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) have been intensively explored over the past decade. However, the nature of the lags remains under debate. Here, utilizing two distinct scenarios for AGN variability, i.e., the thermal fluctuation of accretion disk and the reprocessing of both the accretion disk and clouds in the broad line region, we show that, owing to the random nature of AGN variability, the interband lags of an individual AGN would vary from one campaign with a finite baseline to another. Specifically, the thermal fluctuation scenario implies larger variations in the lags than the reprocessing scenario. Moreover, the former predicts a positive correlation between the lag and variation amplitude, while the latter does not result in such a correlation. For both scenarios, averaging the lags of an individual AGN measured with repeated and nonoverlapping campaigns would give rise to a stable lag, which is larger for a longer baseline and gets to saturation for a sufficiently long baseline. However, obtaining the stable lag for an individual AGN is very time-consuming. Alternatively, it can be equivalently inferred by averaging the lags of a sample of AGNs with similar physical properties, and thus can be properly compared with predictions of AGN models. In addition, several new observational tests suggested by our simulations are discussed, as well as the role of the deep high-cadence surveys of the Wide Field Survey Telescope in enriching our knowledge of the lags.

Morphological classification conveys abundant information on the formation, evolution, and environment of galaxies. In this work, we refine a two-step galaxy morphological classification framework ( USmorph ), which employs a combination of unsupervised machine-learning and supervised machine-learning techniques, along with a self-consistent and robust data-preprocessing step. The updated method is applied to galaxies with I _mag < 25 at 0.2 < z < 1.2 in the COSMOS field. Based on their Hubble Space Telescope/Advanced Camera for Survey I -band images, we classify them into five distinct morphological types: spherical (SPH, 15,200), early-type disk (17,369), late-type disk (21,143), irregular disk (IRR, 28,965), and unclassified (UNC, 17,129). In addition, we have conducted both parametric and nonparametric morphological measurements. For galaxies with stellar masses exceeding 10 ^9 M _☉ , a gradual increase in effective radius from SPHs to IRRs is observed, accompanied by a decrease in the Sérsic index. Nonparametric morphologies reveal distinct distributions of galaxies across the G ini− M _20 and C − A parameter spaces for different categories. Moreover, different categories exhibit significant dissimilarity in their G _2 and Ψ distributions. We find morphology to be strongly correlated with redshift and stellar mass. The consistency of these classification results with expected correlations among multiple parameters underscores the validity and reliability of our classification method, rendering it a valuable tool for future studies.

The extraplanar diffuse ionized gas (eDIG) represents ionized gases traced by optical/UV lines beyond the stellar extent of galaxies. We herein introduce a novel multislit narrow-band spectroscopy method to conduct spatially resolved spectroscopy of the eDIG around a sample of nearby edge-on disk galaxies (eDIG-CHANGES). In this paper, we introduce the project design and major scientific goals, as well as a pilot study of NGC 3556 (M108). The eDIG is detected to a vertical extent of a few kiloparsecs above the disk, comparable to the X-ray and radio images. We do not see significant vertical variation of the [N ii ]/H α line ratio. A rough examination of the pressure balance between different circumgalactic medium phases indicates the magnetic field is in a rough pressure balance with the X-ray emitting hot gas and may play an important role in the global motion of both the eDIG and the hot gas in the lower halo. At the location of an Hubble Space Telescope/Cosmic Origins Spectrograph observed UV bright background active galactic nucleus ∼29 kpc from the center of NGC 3556, the magnetic pressure is much lower than that of the hot gas and the ionized gas traced by UV absorption lines, although the extrapolation of the pressure profiles may cause some biases in this comparison. By comparing the position–velocity diagrams of the optical and CO lines, we also find the dynamics of the two gas phases are consistent with each other, with no evidence of a global inflow/outflow and a maximum rotation velocity of ∼150 km s ^−1 .

Abstract Background Increasing studies have demonstrated potential disproportionate functional and ecological contributions of rare taxa in a microbial community. However, the study of the microbial rare biosphere is hampered by their inherent scarcity and the deficiency of currently available techniques. Sample-wise cross contaminations might be introduced by sample index misassignment in the most widely used metabarcoding amplicon sequencing approach. Although downstream bioinformatic quality control and clustering or denoising algorithms could remove sequencing errors and non-biological artifact reads, no algorithm could eliminate high quality reads from sample-wise cross contaminations introduced by index misassignment, making it difficult to distinguish between bona fide rare taxa and potential false positives in metabarcoding studies. Results We thoroughly evaluated the rate of index misassignment of the widely used NovaSeq 6000 and DNBSEQ-G400 sequencing platforms using both commercial and customized mock communities, and observed significant lower (0.08% vs. 5.68%) fraction of potential false positive reads for DNBSEQ-G400 as compared to NovaSeq 6000. Significant batch effects could be caused by stochastically introduced false positive or false negative rare taxa. These false detections could also lead to inflated alpha diversity of relatively simple microbial communities and underestimated that of complex ones. Further test using a set of cow rumen samples reported differential rare taxa by different sequencing platforms. Correlation analysis of the rare taxa detected by each sequencing platform demonstrated that the rare taxa identified by DNBSEQ-G400 platform had a much higher possibility to be correlated with the physiochemical properties of rumen fluid as compared to NovaSeq 6000 platform. Community assembly mechanism and microbial network correlation analysis indicated that false positive or negative rare taxa detection could lead to biased community assembly mechanism and identification of fake keystone species of the community. Conclusions We highly suggest proper positive/negative/blank controls, technical replicate settings, and proper sequencing platform selection in future amplicon studies, especially when the microbial rare biosphere would be focused.

IntroductionRebound pain, transient and acute postoperative pain after the disappearance of regional block anesthesia, has been a concern in recent years. Insufficient preemptive analgesia and hyperalgesia induced by regional block are the main mechanisms. At present, the evidence for the treatment of rebound pain is limited. The esketamine, as an antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor, has been proven to prevent hyperalgesia. Therefore, this trial aims to evaluate the impact of esketamine on postoperative rebound pain in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty.Methods/designThis study is a single-center, prospective, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. Participants who plan to undergo total knee arthroplasty will be randomly assigned to the esketamine group (N = 178) and placebo group (N = 178) in a ratio of 1:1. This trial aims to evaluate the impact of esketamine on postoperative rebound pain in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty. The primary outcome of this trial is the incidence of rebound pain within 12 h after the operation in the esketamine group and the placebo group. The secondary outcome will be to compare (1) the incidence of rebound pain 24 h after the operation; (2) the time to enter the pain cycle for the first time within 24 h after the procedure; (3) the first time of rebound pain occurred within 24 h after surgery; (4) the modified rebound pain score; (5) NRS score under rest and exercise at different time points; (6) the cumulative opioid consumption at different time points; (7) patient’s prognosis and knee joint function evaluation; (8) blood glucose and cortisol concentration; (9) patient’s satisfaction score; (10) adverse reactions and adverse events.DiscussionThe effect of ketamine on preventing postoperative rebound pain is contradictory and uncertain. The affinity of esketamine to the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor is about four times higher than levo-ketamine, the analgesic effect is 3 times higher than levo-ketamine, and there are fewer adverse mental reactions. To our knowledge, there is no randomized controlled trial to verify the impact of esketamine on postoperative rebound pain in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty. Therefore, this trial is expected to fill an important gap in relevant fields and provide novel evidence for individualized pain management.Clinical Trial Registrationhttp://www.chictr.org.cn, identifier ChiCTR2300069044.

In the context of climate change with frequent natural disasters, disaster risk assessment can provide great help for related risk decision-making. Based on the theory of loss expectation, this paper presents a quantitative method to assess typhoon disaster risk. Among them, the probability of typhoon occurrence is calculated by fitting the optimal structure function of the sample to the joint distribution of wave height, water increment and wind speed. Then, the loss expectation is expressed as the product of typhoon occurrence probability and loss utility, which is used to quantify the loss result of a typhoon disaster. Using the loss utility theory, the risk grade chart is drawn with the direct economic loss rate and the proportion of the affected population as indicators. The results show that the absolute loss value considering the loss utility is slightly higher than the loss value of the quantitative algorithm by 2% to 25%, indicating that the new model reflects the social group’s aversion to typhoon disaster risk. As can be seen from the risk level zoning map, the highest combined risk level typhoons are Prapiroon 0606 and Chanthu 1003, with a risk level of Category 5. The typhoon comprehensive risk level before 2011 was ≥3, and the typhoon comprehensive risk level from 2012 to 2015 was ≤3. The evaluation model has certain feasibility and practicability, and the results can provide a basis and reference for typhoon risk assessment and decision-making.

The [O iii ] 5007 Å emission line is the most common tracer of warm, ionized outflows in active galactic nuclei across cosmic time. JWST newly allows us to use mid-IR spectral features at both high spatial and spectral resolution to probe these same winds. Here we present a comparison of ground-based, seeing-limited [O iii ] and space-based, diffraction-limited [S iv ] 10.51 μ m maps of the powerful, kiloparsec-scale outflow in the Type 1 red quasar SDSS J110648.32+480712.3. The JWST data are from the Mid-InfraRed Instrument. There is a close match in resolution between the data sets (∼0.″6), in ionization potential of the O ^+2 and S ^+3 ions (35 eV) and in line sensitivity (1–2 × 10 ^−17 erg s ^−1 cm ^−2 arcsec ^−2 ). The [O iii ] and [S iv ] line shapes match in velocity and line width over much of the 20 kpc outflowing nebula, and [S iv ] is the brightest line in the rest-frame 3.5–19.5 μ m range, demonstrating its usefulness as a mid-IR probe of quasar outflows. [O iii ] is nevertheless intrinsically brighter and provides better contrast with the point-source continuum, which is strong in the mid-IR. There is a strong anticorrelation of [O iii ]/[S iv ] with average velocity, which is consistent with a scenario of differential obscuration between the approaching (blueshifted) and receding (redshifted) sides of the flow. The dust in the wind may also obscure the central quasar, consistent with models that attribute red quasar extinction to dusty winds.

Birds’ activities may cause short-circuit damages of transmission line (TL), especially in the areas without tall trees and other vegetation. ±400 kV Qaidam-Lhasa DC TL with an average altitude of about 4650 m in China is the highest DC TL in the world. Since November 2011 to the end of January 2017, there have been a total of 102 short-circuit damages, including 95 damages caused by birds. The damages were mainly caused by the defecation of birds. This paper analyzes the characteristics and causes of flashover damages of the Project. Moreover, A survey of birds along the TL was carried out by using line transect method and point count method, and then the comprehensive improvement measures for such bird-related outages were put forward. The results show that a total of 26 species of birds are involved in the damages, mainly including large or clustered birds such as Gyps himalayensis, Aegypius monachus, Buteo hemilasius, Buteo buteo and Corvus corax. The damages often occur at night in winter and spring. The prevention measures shall be dominated by guiding type and supplemented by isolation type and expulsion type, and focus on the treatment of tension tower. Through improvement, the outages have been greatly reduced from 2018 to now.

Most of the offshore projects will be impacted by storm surge, especially in the sea area where typhoons are frequent, and storm surge disasters are inevitable. The establishment of a theoretical distribution model of the number of typhoon occurrences and random waves is of great theoretical and practical significance for the study of the number of storm surge impacts and damage to marine engineering as well as the safety evaluation of offshore engineering. Based on stochastic process theory, this paper discusses the effects of the number of typhoon occurrences and typhoon intensity on wave displacement and water level by constructing a compound Poisson process model of typhoon frequency and typhoon intensity. The limitations of using typhoon intensity and wave height as random variables in the marine environment are improved. The average cumulative damage, reliability, and average service life of marine works were analyzed by marine works reliability analysis and a compound Poisson process of the number of storm surge impacts on marine works and the damage caused to marine works by each impact. The results show that the statistical theoretical model and reliability analysis of the storm surge hazard factors based on the stochastic process covers the original extreme value statistical distribution model, and can determine the parameters in the model according to different thresholds in line with the objective facts, and then deduce the design return level, while the deduced return level still has a certain degree of reliability in the case of short or missing data. Therefore, the stochastic process-based model of the imputed level of design parameters for the marine environment provides a new option for marine engineering design and risk management.

BackgroundAs the population ages with fewer children, depression symptoms are increasing among the elderly who lack companionship. Intergenerational support is closely related to depression in the elderly; hence how the behavioral patterns and emotional quality of intergenerational support affect depressive symptoms in the elderly should be further explored.ObjectiveTo study the effects of intergenerational exchange patterns and intergenerational relationship quality on depressive symptoms in the elderly.MethodsA total of 8,015 people over 60 years old in CHARLS in 2018 were selected as the object of this study. First, the correlation between demographics, economic conditions, health status, intergenerational support patterns, intergenerational relationship quality, and depressive symptoms in the elderly were analyzed. Three regression analysis models were established to analyze the relationship between control variables, intergenerational support patterns, intergenerational relationship quality, and depressive symptoms in the elderly. Results: Among the intergenerational economic, care, and emotional exchange modes, the risk of depressive symptoms in the elderly in the mutual support group was 31.8, 38.4, and 25.5% lower than that in the non-communication group. Compared with the elderly with very poor intergenerational relationship quality, the elderly with good, very good, and excellent intergenerational relationship quality had 74.5, 84.0, and 85.6% lower risk of depressive symptoms.DiscussionDifferent cultural backgrounds also affect intergenerational exchange patterns and depression in the elderly. During the study of depressive symptoms, two aspects relating to intergenerational support should be considered behaviorally and emotionally: the intergenerational exchange model and the intergenerational relationship quality. As depression in the elderly is affected by multiple factors, the participation and joint efforts of the whole society are required to reduce depressive symptoms in the elderly and realize active aging.ConclusionThe intergenerational exchange pattern of mutual support and the higher quality of the intergenerational relationship can significantly reduce the depressive symptoms of the elderly.

The extreme sea conditions caused by typhoons pose a threat to the design safety of marine and coastal engineering structures. In the past, design wave height calculation models that only considered the frequency of typhoons ignored the influence of other hazard factors of typhoons, resulting in lower design standards. In this paper, typhoon frequency, intensity, and distance are selected, and dimensional influences of different factors are eliminated through standardization processing. Based on the correlation between different hazard factors, we have obtained a multi-dimensional discrete joint probability distribution of typhoon hazard factors and constructed a new design wave height that considers the comprehensive effects of typhoon frequency, intensity, and distance. Our results show that the design wave height values of the 50-year, 100-year, and 200-year events are 12.59%, 8.10%, and 3.14% higher than the Gumbel distribution, which is more in line with the distribution of the wave height of waves under severe typhoon conditions. The new model can fully reflect the impact of typhoons on wave height, which can provide a reference for the design safety of marine engineering in the South China Sea.

In the context of the increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters, assessing the risk of typhoon disasters can provide significant assistance for risk control and emergency management of typhoon disasters. In this paper, based on the three-dimensional information diffusion method, the formal expected loss model is transformed into a computable typhoon risk assessment model. The fuzzy information in the small sample data is deeply mined, and the typhoon disaster risk assessment with the expected loss as the connotation is carried out, and the probability density distribution estimation of disaster-causing factors at different levels and the functional relationship identification between disaster-causing factors at different levels and direct economic loss rate are realized by using the information matrix. At the same time, combined with the frequency of typhoon occurrence, the annual risk of disasters is predicted to make up for the problem of insufficient marine environmental data and improve the calculation accuracy of risk assessment models. Taking Guangdong Province as an example, a typhoon risk assessment was conducted, estimating the probability distribution, direct economic loss rate distribution, and annual loss expectation of typhoon disasters under different wind speed scales and extreme wave heights. The results indicate that the risk estimation value of the three-dimensional information diffusion model is higher than that of the traditional model, which weakens the limitations of the low-dimensional information diffusion model and makes the evaluation results more reasonable and reliable.

ABSTRACT The microbiota hosted in the pig gastrointestinal tract are important to health of this biomedical model. However, the individual species and functional repertoires that make up the pig gut microbiome remain largely undefined. Here we comprehensively investigated the genomes and functions of the piglet gut microbiome using culture-based and metagenomics approaches. A collection included 266 cultured genomes and 482 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) that were clustered to 428 species across 10 phyla was established. Among these clustered species, 333 genomes represent potential new species. Less matches between cultured genomes and MAGs revealed a substantial bias for the acquisition of reference genomes by the two strategies. Glycoside hydrolases was the dominant category of carbohydrate-active enzymes. Four-hundred forty-five secondary metabolite biosynthetic genes were predicted from 292 genomes with bacteriocin being the most. Pan genome analysis of Limosilactobacillus reuteri uncover the biosynthesis of reuterin was strain-specific and the production was experimentally determined. This study provides a comprehensive view of the microbiome composition and the function landscape of the gut of weanling piglets and a valuable bacterial resource for further experimentations. IMPORTANCE The microorganism communities resided in mammalian gastrointestinal tract impacted the health and disease of the host. Our study complements metagenomic analysis with culture-based approach to establish a bacteria and genome collection and comprehensively investigate the microbiome composition and function of the gut of weanling piglets. We provide a valuable resource for further study of gut microbiota of weanling piglet and development of probiotics for prevention of disease.

To investigate the choice of return strategy and its impact on a dual-channel supply chain, a game model is constructed to analyze the equilibrium outcomes of five scenarios: no returns allowed, refunds without returns, returns allowed but no return shipping insurance, returns allowed and return shipping insurance purchased by the manufacturer, and returns allowed and return shipping insurance purchased by the consumer. The study found that manufacturers offering refund policies generate more sales in the direct online channel, while retailers choose to reduce the retail price of their products. It is important to note that price reductions by retailers have a very limited effect and do not lead to an increase in sales in the retail channel. Manufacturers offering refund policies will inevitably infringe on retailers’ profits, and the variability of manufacturers’ profits depends on the residual value of returned products. Manufacturers should decide whether to offer a refund policy in online direct sales channels based on the residual value of the returned product; otherwise, the action would be detrimental to themselves. The price of direct online sales is the same whether the manufacturer buys the return shipping insurance or the consumer buys the return shipping insurance, but when the return shipping insurance is bought by the consumer, sales are higher in the direct online channel and lower in the retail channel. When the return shipping cost reimbursement received after purchasing return shipping insurance is low, it should be purchased by the manufacturer, and when the return shipping cost reimbursement received after purchasing return shipping insurance is high, it will be better for the consumer to purchase return shipping insurance.

Developing low cost and stable metal electrode is crucial for mass production of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). As an earth-abundant element, Cu becomes an alternative candidate to replace noble metal electrodes such as Au and Ag, due to its comparable physiochemical properties with simultaneously good stability and low cost. However, the undesirable band alignment associated with the device architecture impedes the exploration of efficient Cu-based n-i-p PSCs. Here, we demonstrated the ability of tuning the Fermi level (EF) of hole transport layer (HTL) to reduce the energy level difference (Schottky barrier) between HTLs and Cu. Further, we identified that the balance of energy level difference between HTL and adjacent layers (including perovskite and Cu) is crucial to efficient carrier transportation and photovoltaic performance improvement in the PSCs. Under the optimized condition, we achieve a device power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 20.10%, which is the highest on the planar n-i-p PSCs with Cu electrode. Meanwhile, the Cu-based PSCs can maintain 92% of their initial efficiency after 1000 h storage, which is comparable with Au-based devices. The present work not only extends the understanding on the band alignment of neighboring semiconductor functional layer in the device architecture to improve the resulting performance but also suggests great potential of Cu electrode for application in PSCs community.

In order to address population aging and the healthy China strategy, this paper takes three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as the empirical target. Firstly, using the 2010 and 2020 census data, and taking the aging coefficient and the density of the elderly population as the basic research indexes, this paper adopts the center of gravity migration model and the standard deviation ellipse to outline the spatial evolution path of the aging coefficient and the density of the elderly population. Second, using the data of recreational tourism sites in each prefecture-level city of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration from 2016 to 2022, the closest neighbor index is used to judge the overall distribution characteristics of recreational tourism sites, and the judgment results are further verified with the help of Tyson polygonal analysis. Finally, based on the cross-section data of the elderly population in 2020, the spatial distribution of recreation and tourism sites and the elderly population are matched by the geographic concentration index, the center of gravity model and the matching coefficient. The results show that (1) the degree of population aging is deepening, and the characteristics of spatial Agglomeration are obvious, but the development speed among regions is inconsistent; (2) the distribution of health tourism destinations is wide and uneven between regions, showing the characteristics of ‘overall dispersion and local concentration’; (3) the spatial distribution of health tourism destinations and the elderly population shows a certain matching relationship, but the matching degree is not high. With the Yangtze River as the boundary, the distribution of health tourism destinations is ‘high in the south and low in the north’ and assumes a ladder shape from south to north, with obvious regional differences. Overall, health tourism lags behind the development process of aging.

The bottleneck for large-scale processing within perovskite solar cells (PSCs) development is the stringent need for uniform thin films. On a lab scale, the spin coating methodology with acceptable uncertainty ensures a high level of uniformity with minimal roughness, no voids, and reproducible procedures. However, the technique is strongly limited for up-scaling because the uncertainty is out of range from the spin center to the edge, resulting in areas only up to a few cm2. In order to boost the industrialization of PSCs, the spray coating (SC) methodology can represent a good solution for achieving the goal of uniformity (in terms of crystal size, film thickness, and roughness) that, combined to a reduced active materials waste, compatible to roll2roll production line, will pave the way to PSCs mass production. In this critical review, we present the technological features of SC relevant to PSCs development and critically discuss the key points on which to address the focus for achieving optimal and reliable performances in connection with the fundamental higher potential of SC over spin-coating in allowing to control thin film homogeneity. This review can help in the commercialization of perovskite solar cells but also can contribute to the development of scale-up methodologies.

In marine engineering design, the threshold selection is a basic and very important part for the analysis of measured data and subsequent acquisition of sample data for probability analysis. In this paper, threshold selection methods are deeply studied from the two perspectives of time domain and frequency domain, and the obtained calculation results with different thresholds are provided. First, the theory of mean residual life plot is used to quantify the threshold value of the measured tide levels of Hangzhou Bay. For the 100-year return periods design values calculated in the Gumbel distribution, the results under the threshold u = 3.9 m shows an increasing of 1.70% over those under the threshold u = 3.75 m; and the results under the threshold u = 3.75 m shows an increase of 0.97% over those under the threshold u = 3.5 m. The quantitative selection method of a threshold is simple and practical, and eliminates the tedious process of multiple trials based on empirical threshold determination. Besides, for the first time, the coherence spectrum threshold is used to explore the significant correlations of different tide level sequences in the frequency domain. Based on the threshold selection method used in the WOSA method-based coherence spectrum significance test, the coherence spectrum thresholds of different tide level in Hangzhou Bay are provided to effectively avoid the false identification of false peaks. It is suggested by the calculation results that, at the overlapping ratio of 50%, the segment number of three and the segment length of 16, and the spectral analysis shows that the extreme tide level of Hangzhou Bay has a vibration period of 21.3 years.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are a promising and fast-growing type of photovoltaic cell due to their low cost and high conversion efficiency. The high efficiency of PSCs is closely related to the quality of the photosensitive layer, and the high-quality light absorbing layer depends on the growth condition of the crystals. In the formation of high-quality crystals, annealing is an indispensable and crucial part, which serves to evaporate the solvent and drive the crystallization of the film. Various annealing methods have different effects on the promotion of the film growth process owing to the way they work. Here, this review will present a discussion of the growth puzzles and quality of perovskite crystals under different driving forces, and then explain the relationship between the annealing driving force and crystal growth. We divided the main current annealing methods into physical and chemical annealing, which has never been summarized before. The main annealing methods currently reported for crystal growth are summarized to visualize the impact of annealing design strategies on photovoltaic performance, while the growth mechanisms of thin films under multiple annealing methods are also discussed. Finally, we suggest future perspectives and trends in the industrial fabrication of PSCs in the future. The review promises industrial manufacturing of annealed PSCs. The review is expected to facilitate the industrial fabrication of PSCs.

Summary: In this study, six bacterial isolates with variable GC, including Escherichia coli as mesophilic reference strain, were selected to compare hybrid assembly strategies based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) of short reads, single-tube long-fragment reads (stLFR) sequencing, and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) sequencing platforms. We obtained the complete genomes using the hybrid assembler Unicycler based on the NGS and ONT reads; others were de novo assembled using NGS, stLFR, and ONT reads by using different strategies. The contiguity, accuracy, completeness, sequencing costs, and DNA material requirements of the investigated strategies were compared systematically. Although all sequencing data could be assembled into accurate whole-genome sequences, the stLFR sequencing data yield a scaffold with more contiguity with more completeness of gene function than NGS sequencing assemblies. Our research provides a low-cost chromosome-level genome assembly strategy for large-scale sequencing of extremophile genomes with different GC contents.
