The article presents case report of a three years old boy suffering with Letterer-Siwe's Disease. The disease is neither hereditary, nor familial, and occurs only in infants. The onset is acute, and the usual course is progressively downhill. There is marked splenomegaly, with enlargement of the liver and lymph glands. The baby weighed 5.85 kilograms on admission, and fed well on a Carnation Milk formula. On admission he had a temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius, a moist cough, bilateral otorrhea, and an eczematous rash.

Rarely does the dermatologist see the acute ease of herpes zoster, but frequently, because of the original skin manifestations, he is asked to consult and often treat post-herpetic neuralgia. Pain being a subjective symptom, it was difficult to assess its degree prior to and after intravenous treatment. Naturally, after many months there were marked emotional factors, and these lowered its threshold. The intensity and duration of the pain are important. While the number is small, it is considered from this series that intravenous procaine will help most cases of post-herpetic pain.

In this article, a case of Agminate Staphylococcal Folliculitis has been described. Staphylococcal Folliculitis is a condition in which groups of lanugo hair follicles become infected. The infection slowly extends peripherally and the active area is like a sponge, from which pus can be squeezed in abundance. The suppuration in the affected follicles goes on for weeks or months and then subsides. E.H. Molesworth, the late scientist, described the condition Staphylococcal Folliculitis synonymous with Pyodermite Veg´tant´ and some other diseases but it is contended in this article that Agminate Staphylococcal Folliculitis is a definite entity, and is not synonymous with Pyodermite Veg´tant´.

The article describes a case of Dermatitis herpetiformis in a three year old female child. This patient was fist seen on May 30th, 1957. On examination it was found that there were scattered vesicles around the mouth and bullae on her abdomen, backs, arms and thighs. She was given an oral suspension of Terramycin, 100 mgm and again examined on June 30th, 1957. Most of the original lesions had dried up, but the patient was most distressed by new lesions. Now a diagnosis of Dermatitis herpetiformis was made and ultimately, she was treated by sulphapyridene.

The article presents information on systemic lupus erythematosus. The disease may exhibit a predilection for damaging certain tissues or organs of an individual, the lesions of these tissues may undergo repair, later, other tissues or organs may be involved. According to authors, in some cases the disease may manifest itself very early in life and may cover a whole life's span never threatening life, or perhaps not doing so until it ends in the myocarditis or nephritis of old age. The factors responsible for triggering or exacerbating some episodes are exposure to sunlight, the exhibition of many drugs and antibiotics, and the injection of sera, acute mental stress, pregnancy, the menopause and surgical procedures.

The article discusses the clinical manifestation, pathological diagnosis and therapeutic measures of radionecrotic ulcerations. Radionecrotic ulceration may be immediate or delayed. The former is due to gross over dosage, the latter occurs in a skin damaged by irradiation. The exciting factor in many cases appears to be trauma on already damaged skin, and this trauma has only to be slight, for example sunburn. The article suggests that radionecrotic ulceration can be minimized by keeping good records; careful dose planning; enquiries to previous radiation; giving the patient a written statement on discharge; and avoidance of trauma.

The article focuses on the uses of photography in dermatology. Photography can be used for records. A pictorial record of interesting or unusual cases is invaluable. Serial photography is for obvious reasons particularly helpful in cases where progress is slow and the patient become discouraged seeing little improvement. With photography, progress can be demonstrated to the mutual benefit of both doctor and patient and thus make easier the management of the case. It can also be used for teaching. A dermatological lecture can become uninteresting without patients to demonstrate the point at issue. At the crucial time the required patient cannot always be found and a good slide can always fill the need.

The article presents a case study of a well-nourished three-and-a-half-month boy who was diagnosed with Letterer-Siwe's disease at the Mater Misericordiae hospital in Newcastle, New South Wales (NSW). His mother said that he had had prickly heat after birth but was well until he had a rash on his neck at two months old. His examination showed an eczematous dermatitis in the scalp, abdomen, and flexures. It reports the autopsy findings related to Letterer-Siwe's disease in a well-nourished boy.

The article presents a case study of a 65-year-old Maltese with a large granulomatous lesion on his right neck. It states that the patient was instructed to apply Hexachlorophene two percent and later, a one percent vioform cream and was prescribed with superficial X-ray. It describes the case of Agminate Staphylococcal Folliculitis.

This article focuses on Plantar Warts, a method of treatment for varying diseases. 169 cases of plantar warts have been treated in private practice during the period 1952-1956. 16 cases were treated with fractioned X-ray, the remaining 153 with a paint. In all, 79 cases responded to the paint in an average treatment time of 2 months. The pain cleared quickly in approximately 7 days. The patients were instructed to carry out a particular regime for their warts. After 3 months, as improvement had not taken place in 17 cases, they were treated by fractionated X-ray. 22 cases had previous treatment in the form of diathermy, cryocautery, injections and/or X-ray before the paint method. All these cases responded satisfactorily to the regime.
