3. SinTra: Learning an inspiration model from a single multi-track music segment

Abstract

In this paper, we propose SinTra, an auto-regressive sequential generative model that can learn from a single multi-track music segment, to generate coherent, aesthetic, and variable polyphonic music of multi-instruments with an arbitrary length of bar. For this task, to ensure the relevance of generated samples and training music, we present a novel pitch-group representation. SinTra, consisting of a pyramid of Transformer-XL with a multi-scale training strategy, can learn both the musical structure and the relative positional relationship between notes of the single training music segment. Additionally, for maintaining the inter-track correlation, we use the convolution operation to process multi-track music, and when decoding, the tracks are independent to each other to prevent interference. We evaluate SinTra with both subjective study and objective metrics. The comparison results show that our framework can learn information from a single music segment more sufficiently than Music Transformer. Also the comparison between SinTra and its variant, i.e., the single-stage SinTra with the first stage only, shows that the pyramid structure can effectively suppress overly-fragmented notes.

30. Preparation and characterization of carbon fiber spread tow needled preform and its composite based on novel short yarn needling method.

Abstract

Due to the high fiber volume fraction of carbon fiber spread tow plain weave fabrics, it is difficult for short fibers to be brought into the thickness direction to form needled fiber bundles during the needling process. The interlaminar performance of the carbon fiber spread tow needled preform is weak, and the in‐plane damage is also severe. Responding to this issue, this article proposed a new method for preparing carbon fiber spread tow needled preform based on short yarn needling, which was expected to manufacture high‐performance carbon fiber spread tow needled preform and composite. We conducted experimental research on the preparation and structural characterization of the preform, as well as the Mode I interlaminar mechanical properties and in‐plane tensile properties of composites. The results showed that the fiber volume fraction of the preform significantly increased, reaching to 55.7%–56.1%, which was 25.5%–25.9% higher than that of traditional needled preform. The Mode I interlaminar property of carbon fiber spread tow needled composite reached to 905–4376 J m−2, which was improved by 29.3%–525.1% and 125.8%–1054.6% compared to traditional needled composite and laminated composite, respectively. At the same time, the tensile strength and tensile modulus were also improved by 191.5%–212.2% and 66.2%–78.1% compared to traditional needled composites. The preparation method of carbon fiber spread tow needled preform based on short yarn needling has laid the foundation for the 3D printing molding of dry fiber fabrics and is expected to be applied to high‐quality needling of high thickness and large curvature‐shaped fabric preforms. Abstract

Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs), which combine the precise targeting capabilities of antibodies with the powerful cytotoxicity of small-molecule drugs, have evolved into a promising approach for tumor treatment. However, the traditional covalent coupling method requires the design of a specific linker tailored to the properties of the small-molecule drugs, which greatly limits the development of ADCs and the range of drugs that can be used. Herein, a novel type of antibody–calixarene drug conjugates (ACDCs) that function similarly to ADCs by delivering drugs to their targets using antibodies but without the requirement of covalent conjugation of the drugs with antibodies is presented. By replacement of conventional linkers with supramolecular linkers, the ACDCs can load various chemotherapeutic drugs through host–guest interactions. Furthermore, ACDCs are readily reduced upon reaching the hypoxic microenvironment, resulting in rapid release of the drugs. With this precise drug encapsulation and controlled release mechanism, ACDCs deliver drugs to tumor tissues effectively and achieve a significantly enhanced antitumor effect. Considering that the ACDCs can be easily prepared by combining antibody–calixarene conjugates derived from tumor-targeting antibodies with various small-molecule drugs, ACDCs may provide a promising platform technology to accelerate ADC development and thus improve the therapeutic efficacy of chemotherapy.

Abstract

In the COVID-19 epidemic more patients presented with persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD), but it has received little attention by the doctors in China and many patients reject psychological measurements or scales. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an objective method to diagnose and evaluate PPPD. To investigate the effect of the COVID-19 epidemic on elderly PPPD patients and define the relationship between prefrontal alpha rhythm asymmetry (FAA) by Electroencephalography (EEG) and PPPD. This case–control study was conducted to discuss the differences of elderly outpatients (>60 years) with PPPD during the peak period of COVID-19 in 2020 and the corresponding period in 2019, and collect the prefrontal FAA value in PPPD during COVID-19 outbreak, which were compared to its FAA in healthy control. Compared with the same period in 2019, the number of elderly PPPD patients during the epidemic period in 2020 increased significantly (16.4%, p = 0.000, x2 =31.802). The left alpha wave signal power (F3) was significantly higher than the right alpha wave signal power (F4) (Z= −3.073, p = 0.002). In PPPD patients FAA were significantly lower in patients compared to control group (Z = −11.535, p = 0.000). There was a negative correlation between FAA and HAMA scores (R2 =0.906, p < 0.05) and a negative correlation between FAA and HAMD scores (R2 =0.859, p < 0.05), too. The increase in cases of elderly PPPD patients is most likely attributed to the mental health in older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.
