Abstract: In the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) based indoor wireless sensor networks localization system, RSSI measurements are very susceptible to multipath fading, anisotropy of antenna, low supply voltage of node and so on, which will cause the system failure to achieve a high location accuracy. This paper presents an environmental-adaptive path loss model. In the process of localization, the calibrated coefficient LSV of low supply voltage, which can be determined by monitoring the supply voltage of the sender, is used to calibrate ranging errors caused by its low supply voltage. The blind node utilizes the absolute value of RSSI to generate the phase of the corresponding receiver''s location so as to determine the correction coefficient of indoor multipath fading R i . Furthermore, in order to improve the accuracy of RSSI measurements, we also take full consideration of the effect of antenna to accurately determine the corresponding path loss model of the two communication nodes. The proposed path loss model is suitable for the majority of wireless location systems that are on the basis of RSSI-based ranging techniques. Experiment results show that the estimation accuracy and adaptability of the proposed path loss model are significantly higher than that of the traditional one. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: 2,3-Diamino-9,9-dioctylfluorene (DADOF), as a new multifunctional intermediate for π conjugated molecules, was efficiently synthesized via a seven-step procedure with an overall yield of 30%. Novel 9,9-dihydro-9,9-dioctyl-2-phenylfluoreno[3,2-d]imidazole (DOFIPh)-type fluorophores with polar substituents were designed and conveniently synthesized from DADOF, and their absorption and fluorescence properties were investigated in solution and in the solid state. The fluorophore DOFIPh exhibits strong blue emission in solid state and fine-tuning of the emission is possible depending on the electronic nature of the substituents. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Background: Tumor cells tend to utilize glycolysis rather than aerobic respiration even under aerobic conditions. OVOL2, an inhibitory C2H2 zinc finger transcription factor, is a potential tumor suppressor in cancers. However, the association between OVOL2 and tumor energy metabolism is unknown. Methods: Western blotting was used to determine the expression of OVOL2 in different non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines and mouse models. The metabolic parameters in NSCLC cells following overexpression or knockdown OVOL2 were examined. To define the mechanism by which OVOL2 regulates aerobic glycolysis, interacting protein of OVOl2 and downstream molecular events were identified by luciferase assay and co-immunoprecipitation. We documented the regulatory mechanism in mouse xenograft models. Finally, clinical relevance of OVOL2, NF-κB signaling and GLUT1 was measured by immunostaining. Results: OVOL2 is downregulated in NSCLC and overexpression of OVOL2 inhibits the survival of cancer cells. Moreover, OVOL2 directly binds to P65 and inhibits the recruitment of P300 but facilitates the binding of HDAC1 to P65, which in turn negatively regulates NF-κB signaling to suppress GLUT1 translocation and glucose import. In contrast, OVOL2 expression is negatively regulated by NF-κB signaling in NSCLC cells via the ubiquitin–proteasome pathway. Re-expression of OVOL2 significantly compromise NF-κB signaling-induced GLUT1 translocation, aerobic glycolysis in NSCLC cells and mouse models. Immunostaining revealed inverse correlations between the OVOL2 and phosphorylated P65 levels and between the OVOL2 and membrane GLUT1 levels, and a strong correlation between the phosphorylated P65 and membrane GLUT1 levels. Abstract: A series of 10,10-dioctyl-3,6-dihydrofluoreno[2,3-d:6,7-d′]diimidazole derivatives were conveniently synthesized by condensation of the key intermediate 2,3,6,7-tetraamino-9,9-dioctylfluorene (TADOF) with aldehydes under very mild conditions. All of the target compounds were characterized using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and elemental analysis. The crystal structure of 3,6-dibenzyl-10,10-dioctyl-2,7-diphenyl-6,10-dihydro-3H-fluoreno[2,3-d:6,7-d′]diimidazole was determined as triclinic, space group P-1 type, using single X-ray crystallography. For seventeen samples, UV–visible absorption maximum wavelength (λ max), fluorescence excitation wavelength (λ ex), fluorescence emission wavelength (λ em) and fluorescence quantum yield (φ FL) were measured in dilute dichloromethane solution and in the solid state. These compounds possess a medium strong blue fluorescence-emitting ability with φ FL values in the region of 0.30–0.89 and structure-optical behavior characteristics were discussed. • Full-scale fatigue test of unit-plate ballastless track laid on long-span cable-stayed bridge were carried out. • No obvious stress variation was observed by increasing loading cycles. • No voids and gaps were formed at interlayers of unit-plate ballastless track. • No obvious stiffness degradation were observed by increasing loading cycles. This paper provides the experimental research on the fatigue behaviors of unit-plate ballastless tracks laid on long-span cable-stayed bridge. A set of loading devices for full-scale track structures were fabricated, and then a series of full-scale fatigue tests were conducted. The loading frequency was about 2.5–2.8 Hz, the fatigue loading range was 50–255 kN, and the loading cycle was set as 5 × 106 times. Furthermore, a series of post-fatigue static loadings were applied on full-scale ballastless track under certain loading cycles. Some conclusions were as follows: It was observed that by applying the train axle load at the middle of track slab, a very low stress level was created in ballastless track, and no obvious variation in stress value was observed by increasing loading cycles. For track slab end, interlayers tended to warp up relatively, and interlayer pressure was decreased. Due to the presence of rubber isolation layer, no voids and gaps were formed at interlayers of unit-plate ballastless track. Besides, load-interlayer deformation and pressure variation curves showed obvious non-linearity by increasing post-fatigue loading, and these curves had large overlapping zones. Furthermore, there was no obvious enhancement or degradation observed in ballastless track stiffness by increasing fatigue loading cycles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
