Highlights This review systematically compares the different effects of O2-type and O3-type structures on voltage decay for Li-rich layered oxide (LRLO) cathode. The development of O2-type materials and the corresponding mechanisms for addressing voltage decay are comprehensively reviewed. The perspectives and challenges for designing high-performance O2-type LRLO cathodes without voltage decay are proposed.

[Introduction] With the establishment of the energy Internet architecture mainly relying on new energies, HVDC transmission has become an important way of power transmission, power grids present a new characteristic of "strong DC and weak AC". Synchronous condensers have unique advantages in dealing with the issue of "strong DC and weak AC" by virtue of their dynamic performance such as fast reactive power response and strong voltage support capability. [Method] To study the application of synchronous condensers in HVDC works, this paper summarized the development of synchronous condensers, introduced the current development status of several major types of synchronous condensers in China, such as synchronous condensers for transforming thermal power units, new-generation large-capacity synchronous condensers, distributed synchronous condensers, analyzed the working principle and dynamic characteristics of synchronous condensers. Then the paper summarized the virtues of synchronous condensers when compared with other reactive power compensation devices such as SVC, the application scenarios, existing configuration strategies of large-capacity synchronous condensers and distributed synchronous condensers. [Result] Finally, a simulation model of DC transmission system with synchronous condensers is built on the PSCAD/EMTDC platform. The simulation verify the suppression capability of synchronous condensers for commutation failure at the sending end and transient overvoltage at the receiving end caused by commutation failure, as well as the dynamic reactive power compensation capability under lagging phase operation. [Conclusion] The analysis shows that synchronous condensers have adequate suppression of transient overvoltage and commutation failure and their reactive power response speed and dynamic reactive power support capability will not be affected by lagging phase operation, which contributes to their prospect of engineering application for steady-state compensation in converter stations.

Objective: To analyze the current practice of labeling common food with added strains in China, explore the existing problems, and provide a reference for the management of labeling food that contains edible strains. Methods: Label information for prepackaged foods labeled "live bacteria" "lactic acid bacteria" and "probiotics" (excluding health foods and traditional fermented foods) was collected via online and in-person markets and then organized. Results: A total of 526 samples that met the requirements were examined. 65.24% of products used the term "probiotics" in their labels or promotional language. 91.06% of the samples were labeled with the strain name on the packaging, 49.81% of the samples were labeled with the strain name. In addition, 72.43% of the samples were labeled with a bacterial count, with 95% of the product packaging indicating a bacterial count greater than 106 CFU/g (CFU/mL). Further, 29.28% of the samples used functional claims and related descriptions of similar functional claims in labels or promotional language, and 46.9% of the samples indicated an unsuitable intended audience of the product on the label. Conclusion: There are many types of edible mushroom products added to common food in China, and the positions of the labels and methods for naming mushrooms and the quantities that appear in products greatly differ. Some products incorrectly use the term "probiotics", while other products state claims for improper use. A management system in China for general labeling and for the specific labeling of food that contains "lactic acid bacteria" "probiotics" needs to be standardized.

The environmental stability of infectious viruses in the laboratory setting is crucial to the transmission potential of human respiratory viruses. Different experimental techniques or conditions used in studies over the past decades have led to diverse understandings and predictions for the stability of viral infectivity in the atmospheric environment. In this paper, we review the current knowledge on the effect of simulated atmospheric conditions on the infectivity of respiratory viruses, mainly focusing on influenza viruses and coronaviruses, including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus. First, we summarize the impact of the experimental conditions on viral stability; these involve the methods of viral aerosol generation, storage during aging and collection, the virus types and strains, the suspension matrixes, the initial inoculum volumes and concentrations, and the drying process. Second, we summarize and discuss the detection methods of viral infectivity and their disadvantages. Finally, we integrate the results from the reviewed studies to obtain an overall understanding of the effects of atmospheric environmental conditions on the decay of infectious viruses, especially aerosolized viruses. Overall, this review highlights the knowledge gaps in predicting the ability of viruses to maintain infectivity during airborne transmission.

Abstract A growing number of studies have reported that problematic social networking use (PSNU) is strongly associated with anxiety symptoms. However, due to the presence of multiple anxiety subtypes, existing research findings on the extent of this association vary widely, leading to a lack of consensus. The current meta-analysis aimed to summarize studies exploring the relationship between PSNU levels and anxiety symptoms, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, attachment anxiety, and fear of missing out. 209 studies with a total of 172 articles were included in the meta-analysis, involving 252,337 participants from 28 countries. The results showed a moderately positive association between PSNU and generalized anxiety (GA), social anxiety (SA), attachment anxiety (AA), and fear of missing out (FoMO) respectively (GA: r = 0.388, 95% CI [0.362, 0.413]; SA: r = 0.437, 95% CI [0.395, 0.478]; AA: r = 0.345, 95% CI [0.286, 0.402]; FoMO: r = 0.496, 95% CI [0.461, 0.529]), and there were different regulatory factors between PSNU and different anxiety subtypes. This study provides the first comprehensive estimate of the association of PSNU with multiple anxiety subtypes, which vary by time of measurement, region, gender, and measurement tool.

Glucose is a major energy substrate for porcine adipocytes and also serves as a regulatory signal for adipogenesis and lipid metabolism. In this study, we combined transcriptome and metabolome analyses to reveal the underlying regulatory mechanisms of high glucose (HG) on adipogenesis by comparing differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) identified in porcine adipocytes. Results showed that HG (20 mmol/L) significantly increased fat accumulation in porcine adipocytes compared to low glucose (LG, 5 mmol/L). A total of 843 DEGs and 365 DAMs were identified. Functional enrichment analyses of DEGs found that multiple pathways were related to adipogenesis, lipid metabolism, and immune-inflammatory responses. PPARγ, C/EBPα, ChREBP, and FOS were identified as the key hub genes through module 3 analysis, and PPARγ acted as a central regulator by linking genes involved in lipid metabolism and immune-inflammatory responses. Gene-metabolite networks found that PPARγ-13-HODE was the most important interaction relationship. These results revealed that PPARγ could mediate the cross-talk between adipogenesis and the immune-inflammatory response during adipocyte maturation. This work provides a comprehensive view of the regulatory mechanisms of glucose on adipogenesis in porcine adipocytes.

Exploring the longitudinal relationship between career adaptability, career commitment, career identity, and career well-being among Chinese undergraduate nursing students. A mediation effect analysis was performed. The Career Adaptability Scale, the Chinese version of Career commitment, the Career identity Scale, and the Career well-being Scale were used as research instruments. Six hundred ninety-two nursing students were followed up in two waves to explore the relationships among career adaptability, career commitment, career identity, and career well-being. Model comparison was performed to explore the differences in such relationships between low and high-career interests. Career commitment at T1 mediated the relationship between career adaptability at T1 and career identity at T2 and that between career adaptability at T1 and career well-being at T2. Significant differences were observed between the mediation models of nursing students with high and low career interests. Career commitment plays a longitudinal mediator role in the relationship between career adaptability and career identity and the relationship between career adaptability and career well-being.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disease with unclear pathogenesis that involves neuroinflammation and intestinal microbial dysbiosis. Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), an inflammatory marker, participates in neuroinflammation during dopaminergic neuronal damage. However, the explicit mechanisms of action of ICAM-1 in PD have not been elucidated. We established a subacute PD mouse model by the intraperitoneal injection of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) and observed motor symptoms and gastrointestinal dysfunction in mice. Immunofluorescence was used to examine the survival of dopaminergic neurons, expression of microglial and astrocyte markers, and intestinal tight junction-associated proteins. Then, we use 16 S rRNA sequencing to identify alterations in the microbiota. Our findings revealed that ICAM-1-specific antibody (Ab) treatment relieved behavioural defects, gastrointestinal dysfunction, and dopaminergic neuronal death in MPTP-induced PD mice. Further mechanistic investigations indicated that ICAM-1Ab might suppress neuroinflammation by inhibiting the activation of astrocytes and microglia in the substantia nigra and relieving colon barrier impairment and intestinal inflammation. Furthermore, 16 S rRNA sequencing revealed that the relative abundances of bacterial Firmicutes, Clostridia, and Lachnospiraceae were elevated in the PD mice. However, ICAM-1Ab treatment ameliorated the MPTP-induced disorders in the intestinal microbiota. Collectively, we concluded that the suppressing ICAM-1 might lead to the a significant decrease of inflammation and restore the gut microbial community, thus ameliorating the damage of DA neurons.

Intestinal microbiota community is an important factor affecting the nutritional and health status of poultry, and its balance is crucial for improving the overall health of poultry. The study aimed to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation with Glycyrrhiza uralensis extract (GUE), Lactobacillus acidophilus (Lac) and their combination (GL) on growth performance and intestinal health in broilers in an 84-day feeding experiment. Supplementary 0.1% GUE and 4.5×107 CFU/g Lac significantly increased average daily gain (ADG), and GL (0.1% GUE and 4.5×107 CFU/g Lac) increased ADG and average daily feed intake (ADFI), and decreased feed conversion rate (FCR) in broilers aged 29 to 84 d and 1 to 84 d. Dietary GUE, Lac and GL increased the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) activity and decreased Malondialdehyde (MDA) content in the jejunum mucosa of broilers, and increased secretory IgA (sIgA) content in broilers at 84 d. Moreover, GUE, Lac and GL increased cecal microbial richness and diversity, and modulated microbial community composition. Both GUE and Lac reduced the harmful bacteria Epsilonbacteraeota, Helicobacter, and H. pullorum at 28 d and Proteobacteria, Escherichia, and E. coli at 84 d, while Lac and GL increased beneficial bacteria Lactobacillus and L. gallinarum at 28 d. Compared with individual supplementation, GL markedly increased the SOD activity and the sIgA content, and reduced Helicobacter and Helicobacter pullorum. In conclusion, GUE and Lactobacillus acidophilus as feed additives benefit growth performance and intestinal health, and their combined use shows an even more positive effect in broilers.

Sjögren’s Syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by dysfunction of exocrine glands. Primarily affected are the salivary glands, which exhibit the most frequent pathological changes. The pathogenesis involves susceptibility genes, non-genetic factors such as infections, immune cells-including T and B cells, macrophage, dendritic cells, and salivary gland epithelial cells. Inflammatory mediators such as autoantibodies, cytokines, and chemokines also play a critical role. Key signaling pathways activated include IFN, TLR, BAFF/BAFF-R, PI3K/Akt/mTOR, among others. Comprehensive understanding of these mechanisms is crucial for developing targeted therapeutic interventions. Thus, this study explores the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying SS-related salivary gland damage, aiming to propose novel targeted therapeutic approaches.

Introduction Smoking conventional cigarettes or vaping (SV) poses significant health threats to adolescents. School climate and school identification are key elements of the school environment and potential factors of SV. Based on the Stress Coping Theory, the mediations between school climate/school identification and SV, via perceived stress/active coping, were examined. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among secondary school students from February to March 2022 in Taizhou, China. Structural equation modeling was used. Results The prevalence of SV among the 7526 participants was 4.7% (singular use of conventional cigarettes: 3.2%; singular use of electronic cigarettes: 3.6%; dual use: 2.1%). School climate, school identification, and active coping were positively, and perceived stress (family stress, academic stress, and peer-related stress) were negatively associated with SV. The association between school climate and SV was fully mediated via: 1) school climate → perceived stress → SV; 2) school climate → active coping → SV; and 3) school climate → perceived stress → active coping → SV. In this study, a novel coarse-to-fine image registration algorithm based on feature matching using the Gabor filters is provided for repeat-pass SAR interferometry (InSAR). In the coarse registration, we propose a feature-based algorithm developed using the Gabor odd filter ratio-based operator (GOFRO), and the innovative feature based on the GOFRO (GOFRO-F) consists of the improved nonlinear scale space and the descriptor. The establishment of nonlinear scale spaces informed by the GOFRO enhances the stability of feature detection. Also, an improved 64-dimensional descriptor based on the GOFRO is presented to optimize the capability of feature matching. In the fine registration, we employ the normalized correlation coefficient algorithm (NCCA) and the random consensus sample (RANSAC) for determining offsets and the sub-pixel projection model calculation. The datasets of interferograms are derived from the 0.3 THz stepped-frequency radar. Compared to other algorithms, registration experiments of both simple and complex scatters show that GOFRO-F is more suitable for high precision image registration because of its enhanced robustness to the speckle noise. Furthermore, the three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction is conducted based on our proposed algorithm. The results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm facilitates the attainment of millimeter-level spatial resolutions for InSAR in THz band (THz InSAR).

Abstract Background With the advent of the new media era, the understanding of adolescent internet addiction needs to be enriched. It is also necessary to distinguish the related factors of adolescent internet addiction at different levels to clarify the mechanisms of this phenomenon. Methods This study used hierarchical linear model analysis to explore the effects of student-level factors and school-level factors on adolescent internet addiction, along with cross-level moderating effects. A total of 1,912 students between the 4th and 8th grades in China participated in the study. Participants completed the Self-Esteem Scale, Parents Phubbing Scale, Classroom Environment Scale, and the Diagnostic Questionnaire of Internet Addiction. [Introduction] Under the existing converter station reactive power compensation scheme, the synchronous condenser only provides transient reactive power support, and the AC (Alternating Current) filter undertakes steady-state reactive power compensation and adjustment tasks, with a lack of coordination scheme between the two and insufficient economy. [Method] On the basis of ensuring the dynamic characteristics of the synchronous condenser, based on the operating characteristics of the DC (Direct Current) sending and receiving end systems, firstly, a reactive power optimization scheme for the converter station was proposed, in which the regulator was used to replace a part of the part of the AC filter capacity with the regulator, and both participated in steady state reactive power compensation. Ubsequently, a two-layer reactive power adjustment strategy for the converter station was proposed according to the sequence of actions. The first layer of reactive power adjustment was undertaken by the synchronous condenser, which was realized by adjusting the output within the range of steady state operation. The second layer of reactive power adjustment was started after the first layer of reactive power adjustment, and the AC filters were switched on group by group for reactive power adjustment until the reactive power adjustment requirement of the converter station was reached. Finally, a LCC-HVDC (Line-Commutated Converter High Voltage Direct Current) system simulation model was built in PSCAD for simulation verification. [Result] The simulation results show that the reactive power compensation scheme and the two-layer reactive power adjustment strategy proposed can optimize the number of AC filter configuration groups in the converter station, reduce the frequency of AC filter switching in the converter station. [Conclusion] The proposed scheme achieves optimization of the existing LCC-HVDC converter station reactive power compensation scheme and reactive power adjustment strategy.

Dietary fiber can be fermented and utilized by gut microbiota to reshape the gut microbiota, thereby alleviating constipation. This experiment mainly studied the physicochemical functions of hawthorn soluble dietary fiber (HSDF)and its effect and mechanism in alleviating constipation in mice. Forty-five mice were divided into blank control group C, model group M, positive control HS group, low-dose LHSDF group (1 g/kg/bw), and high-dose HHSDF group (2 g/kg/bw). The mice were modeled at a dose of 10 mg/kg/bw of loperamide hydrochloride for 7 days, while the remaining groups were orally administered an equal amount of distilled water and test samples. After continuous gavage for 45 days we performed a bowel movement test, and then continued gavage for 7 days and performed a small intestine propulsion test and indicator testing. The results showed that HSDF is mainly composed of galacturonic acid, belonging to the type I crystal structure, with a loose surface resembling a snowflake, a small molecular weight, and strong water-holding and antioxidant abilities. Animal experiments showed that compared with group M, HSDF significantly upregulated AQP3 and AQP8 by 52.67% and 164.54%, respectively, and downregulated AQP9 protein expression by 45.88%, thereby promoting intestinal peristalsis. It can also alleviate constipation by increasing the levels of excitatory hormones such as MTL, GAS, and SP in the gastrointestinal tract, and reducing the levels of inhibitory hormones such as SS, NO, and MDA. In addition, HSDF can reduce the levels of inflammatory factors such as IL-6 and PL-1 β, increase the content of various short-chain fatty acids, alleviate intestinal inflammation, maintain intestinal integrity, and promote defecation. It can also promote the growth of probiotics such as Bacteroides, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, and alter the diversity of gut microbiota.

Peas (Pisum sativum L.) serve as a significant source of plant-based protein, garnering consumer attention due to their high nutritional value and non-GMO modified nature; however, the beany flavor limits its applicability. In this study, the effects of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. Lactis 80 (Bla80) fermentation on the physicochemical characteristics, particle size distribution, rheological properties, and volatile flavor compounds of pea milk was investigated. After fermentation by Bla80, the pH of pea milk decreased from 6.64 ± 0.01 to 5.14 ± 0.01, and the (D4,3) distribution decreased from 142.4 ± 0.47 μm to 122.7 ± 0.55 μm. In addition, Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) fermentation significantly reduced the particle size distribution of pea milk, which was conducive to improving the taste of pea milk and also indicated that Bla80 had the probiotic potential of utilizing pea milk as a fermentation substrate. According to GC-MS analysis, 64 volatile compounds were identified in fermented pea milk and included aldehydes, alcohols, esters, ketones, acids, and furans. Specifically, aldehydes in treated samples decreased by 27.36% compared to untreated samples, while esters, ketones, and alcohols increased by 11.07%, 10.96%, and 5.19%, respectively. These results demonstrated that Bla80 fermentation can significantly decrease the unpleasant beany flavor, such as aldehydes and furans, and increase fruity or floral aromas in treated pea milk. Therefore, Bla80 fermentation provides a new method to improve physicochemical properties and consumer acceptance of fermented pea milk, eliminating undesirable aromas for the application of pea lactic acid bacteria beverage.

Bacteria and archaea are foundational life forms on Earth and play crucial roles in the development of our planet’s biological hierarchy. Their interactions influence various aspects of life, including eukaryotic cell biology, molecular biology, and ecological dynamics. However, the coexistence network patterns of these microorganisms within natural river ecosystems, vital for nutrient cycling and environmental health, are not well understood. To address this knowledge gap, we systematically explored the non-random coexistence patterns of planktonic bacteria and archaea in the 6000-km stretch of the Yangtze River by using high-throughput sequencing technology. By analyzing the O/R ratio, representing the divergence between observed (O%) and random (R%) co-existence incidences, and the module composition, we found a preference of both bacteria and archaea for intradomain associations over interdomain associations. Seasons notably influenced the co-existence of bacteria and archaea, and archaea played a more crucial role in spring as evidenced by their predominant presence of interphyla co-existence and more species as keystone ones. The autumn network was characterized by a higher node or edge number, greater graph density, node degree, degree centralization, and nearest neighbor degree, indicating a more complex and interconnected structure. Landforms markedly affected microbial associations, with more complex networks and more core species found in plain and non-source areas. Distance-decay analysis suggested the importance of geographical distance in shaping bacteria and archaea co-existence patterns (more pronounced in spring). Natural, nutrient, and metal factors, including water temperature, NH4+-N, Fe, Al, and Ni were identified as crucial determinants shaping the co-occurrence patterns. Overall, these findings revealed the dynamics of prokaryotic taxa coexistence patterns in response to varying environmental conditions and further contributed to a broader understanding of microbial ecology in freshwater biogeochemical cycling.

In the construction of the civil engineering infrastructure, the noise and vibration are affected by the geological conditions, adopting specific construction techniques based on the geological conditions is of great significance in suppressing the noise and vibration caused by the construction. To classify and evaluate the rock mass quality, the rock quality designation (RQD) is adopted widely in the geological and mining engineering. Traditionally, to obtain RQD, lengths of drilling core pieces are measured and RQD is calculated manually, which is labor-expensive and time-consuming. With the development of the computational power, the image treatment driven by the computer vision creates a potential approach to obtain RQD automatically. In the present work, the image treatment process with the aid of the object detection and the image segmentation is adopted to obtain RQD automatically, based on the similarity of features such as color and texture, the segment anything model is adopted to detect the rock cores in the image, then, the YOLOv8 algorithm is adopted to train the model, and the gap features of the rock chip segments are extracted for segmentation of different rock core segments. To test the performance of the proposed approach, 10 boreholes from Shapingba Railway Comprehensive Reconstruction Project are adopted to conduct the case study. Compared to the traditional manual approach, RQD obtained by the proposed approach is relatively accurate and obviously efficient, namely, the average error is less than 5% and the time consumed is less than 70%.

In this study, the effect of activated silica fume (ASF) on restraining the expansion of cement stabilized saline soil (C-S) was investigated through stability and durability test. The effects of salt content, silica fume content, erosion conditions and freeze-thaw cycles on the volume, strength and stability of the sample were studied. The results reveal that ASF can inhibit expansion and improve stability, but it was affected by ASF and salt content. At 2% salt content, the expansion rate is reduced by 65.2~83.4%, and the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and flexural strength (FS) are increased by 2–6 times; at 5% salt content, the expansion rate is reduced by more than 88.5%, and the UCS and FS are increased by 1.6–4.7 times. Salt erosion increased the volume of samples and decreased the strength, which was positively correlated with salt concentration and negatively correlated with the dosage of silica fume. Comparing to the samples without ASF, the volume change of cement-ASF-saline soil is reduced by three times and the strength is increased by eight times after 10 cycles of freeze-thaw. In medium saline soil reinforcement, the low dosage of ASF inhibited expansion efficitivly, but required large dosage in strong saline soil.

Abstract Background Anxiety may stay with nursing students throughout their internship and even persist afterwards. Although many studies have explored the effects of perceived stress on anxiety, the relationship between pre-internship perceived stress and post-internship anxiety levels has not been clarified. In addition, none had focused on the moderating roles of career adaptability and professional commitment between perceived stress and anxiety. This study aims to investigate the influence of pre-internship perceived stress on the post-internship anxiety level of nursing college students, and to analyze the moderating effects of career adaptability and professional commitment on their relationships. Methods A longitudinal study design was employed. Full-time nursing college students from a Chinese medical university were recruited by convenient sampling. All surveys were conducted via Wen Juan Xing ( www.wjx.cn ), a widely used web-based survey platform in China. Two waves of surveys were collected in the pre-internship and post-internship periods, with an interval of one year. Among 823 nursing students recruited, 692 students completed all two waves of the survey (response rate: 84.08%). Participants completed a series of questionnaires examining general demographic characteristics, perceived stress, anxiety, career adaptability, and professional commitment both before and after the internship. The bias-corrected bootstrap technique of the Hayes PROCESS macro (Model 2) was used to test the moderation effect. Negative emotions and gut microbiota during pregnancy both bear significant public health implications. However, the relationship between them has not been fully elucidated. This study, utilizing data from a pregnancy cohort, employed metagenomic sequencing to elucidate the relationship between anxiety, depression, and gut microbiota’s diversity, composition, species, and functional pathways. Data from 87 subjects, spanning 225 time points across early, mid, and late pregnancy, were analyzed. The results revealed that anxiety and depression significantly corresponded to lower alpha diversity (including the Shannon entropy and the Simpson index). Anxiety and depression scores, along with categorical distinctions of anxiety/non-anxiety and depression/non-depression, were found to account for 0.723%, 0.731%, 0.651%, and 0.810% of the variance in gut-microbiota composition (p = 0.001), respectively. Increased anxiety was significantly positively associated with the abundance of Oscillibacter sp. KLE 1745, Oscillibacter sp. PEA192, Oscillibacter sp. KLE 1728, Oscillospiraceae bacterium VE202 24, and Treponema socranskii. A similar association was significantly noted for Oscillibacter sp. KLE 1745 with elevated depression scores. While EC.3.5.3.1: arginase appeared to be higher in the anxious group than in the non-anxious group, vitamin B12-related enzymes appeared to be lower in the depression group than in the non-depression group. The changes were found to be not statistically significant after post-multiple comparison adjustment.

Fructilactobacillus sanfranciscensis is a significant and dominant bacterial species of sourdough microbiota from ecological and functional perspectives. Despite the remarkable prevalence of different strains of this species in sourdoughs worldwide, the drivers behind the genetic diversity of this species needed to be clarified. In this research, 14 F. sanfranciscensis strains were isolated from sourdough samples to evaluate the genetic diversity and variation in metabolic traits. These 14 and 31 other strains (obtained from the NCBI database) genomes were compared. The values for genome size and GC content, on average, turned out to 1.31 Mbp and 34.25%, respectively. In 45 F. sanfranciscensis strains, there were 162 core genes and 0 to 51 unique genes present in each strain. The primary functions of core genes were related to nucleotide, lipid transport, and amino acid, as well as carbohydrate metabolism. The size of core genes accounted for 41.18% of the pan-genome size in 14 F. sanfranciscensis strains, i.e., 0.70 Mbp of 1.70 Mbp. There were genetic variations among the 14 strains involved in carbohydrate utilization and antibiotic resistance. Moreover, exopolysaccharides biosynthesis-related genes were annotated, including epsABD, wxz, wzy. The Type IIA & IE CRISPR-Cas systems, pediocin PA-1 and Lacticin_3147_A1 bacteriocins operons were also discovered in F. sanfranciscensis. These findings can help to select desirable F. sanfranciscensis strains to develop standardized starter culture for sourdough fermentation, and expect to provide traditional fermented pasta with a higher quality and nutritional value for the consumers.

Water-rock interaction is common seen in underground mining engineering activities. In order to study the mechanical properties, damage characteristics and deterioration mechanism of coal-rock combined samples under water-rock interaction, axial compression tests were carried out on FM, GM and FMG combined samples under different immersion time. The main results are as follows: ①Water content of the sample increases with the increase of immersion time, and reaches saturated after 20, 5−15 is the water absorption period of the sample, 15−20 is the near-saturation period, and 20−25 is the saturation period.②The compressive strength, elastic modulus, pre-peak energy and burst energy index of the three types of samples have obvious degradation effect under the interaction of water and rock, and the parameter values decrease with the increase of immersion time. The steep drop region of pre-peak energy is observed in the 5−15 d of immersion, and the slow drop region of pre-peak energy is observed in the 15−25 d of immersion. Immersion time 5−15 d, the burst energy index deterioration is obvious, after 15 d, the deterioration effect is weak; Sample of immersion of 5−10 d is of weak burst proneness, Sample of immersion of 15−25 d is of no burst proneness.③With the increase of immersion time, the cumulative number of acoustic emission of the sample decreases significantly. Based on the damage theory, the damage model of the sample with respect to immersion time was constructed. The model reveals the relationship between the damage variable and the immersion time, and reflects the behavior that damage degree of the sample increases with the increase of the immersion time. ④The calculation formula of fake-void ratio is derived, and the fake-void ratio of the combined body is as follows: FM combined body < FMG combined body < GM combined body. The relationship between the fake-void ratio of composite and compressive strength was analyzed. the larger the fake-void ratio, the smaller the compressive strength. ⑤With respect to the deterioration effect, the deterioration mechanism of coal-rock combination under water-rock interaction was analyzed from physical, chemical and mechanical aspects.⑥The failure characteristics and deformation of coal-rock pillar under the influence of water in a coal mining area of Hegang mining area were analyzed. The strength and stability of coal-rock mass under the water-rock interaction have obvious deterioration effect, and this deterioration effect is more obvious at the early immersion stage. With the increase of immersion time, the deterioration effect is gradually weakened. This is consistent with the conclusions of the tests.

Abstract Fructilactobacillus (F.) sanfranciscensis LS1 is one of the dominant strains in sourdough. Ethanol produced during fermentation is an inevitable stress factor for this stain. At present, the research on the mechanism of ethanol stress in lactic acid bacteria is limited compared to yeast species (particularly Saccharomyces (S.) cerevisiae). In this study microbial physiology and protein expression analysis technology was used. F. sanfranciscensis LS1 served as the original bacteria, and evolutionary bacteria LS1‐1 were obtained by adaptive evolution. The comparison of the two strains' growth, survival rate, morphology, hydrophobicity, cohesive force and protein expression revealed that the evolved bacteria had a significantly higher ethanol tolerance than the original bacteria. Similarly, the hydrophobicity of evolved bacteria was increased about 6.6 times than that of the original bacteria. With an increase in ethanol concentration, the level of damage on evolved bacteria was less, and the total proportion of damaged cells decreased. After 8 h of culturing, the self‐cohesion of the evolved strain was 1.29 times more than the original strain. Sodium dodecyl‐sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis analysis has shown that the number of protein bands of the evolved bacteria LS1‐1 increased significantly, indicating that the associated proteins were expressed more and the strain's ability to resist environmental pressure was improved.

Abstract Purpose Various physiological and psychological negative situations experienced by nurses as a result of COVID-19 pandemic have been shown to increase their perception of organizational difficulty and decrease their career commitment, thereby accelerating the turnover rate of nurses. Resilience and career adaptability have important influences on career commitment, so there is a need to evaluate the relationships between them and the underlying mechanisms. Patients and methods Using a cross-lagged design, the Career Adaptability Scale, the Chinese version of career commitment, and Davidson’s Resilience Scale as research methods, we studied 692 nursing students for two consecutive years to evaluate the relationship among career adaptability, resilience, and career commitment. Results Career adaptability at T1 substantially and positively predicts the career commitment at T2. Career adaptability and resilience are mutually predictive. No interaction is found between resilience and career commitment over time. There is a substantial difference in the cross-lagged relationship among career adaptability, resilience, and career commitment for low- and high-career interest. Conclusion Our results show the importance of developing career commitment early on. Developing career adaptability, enhancing resilience, and increasing career interest in nursing students might help to increase career commitment.

Mental health problems of various populations during the COVID-19 pandemic have received high attention, but there is little research on the mental health of Chinese civil servants. The present study investigated occupational stress, mental health problems (i.e., anxiety, depression, and insomnia), social support, and work-family conflict in Chinese civil servants during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 327 civil servants in Wenzhou city, China, participated in an online survey, which collected data on socio-demographic characteristics, occupational stress, mental health problems (i.e., anxiety, depression, and insomnia), social support, and work-family conflict. Data were analyzed using non-parametric tests and a multiple mediation model. Self-reported risk at work and support from mental health workers were relatively low. Anxiety, depression, and insomnia prevalence were 49.24 %, 47.1 %, and 20.48 %, respectively. Those who held higher ranks at work had lower levels of anxiety and depression. In addition, those who felt bad about their health status had more mental health problems. Social support and work-family conflict mediated the relationship between occupational stress and mental health problems significantly. Stress management training, organizational-level improvement in work arrangements, and professional mental health services are warranted for Chinese civil servants during the pandemic.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop and validate the Unrelated Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Donation Questionnaire (UPBSC-DQ) (an instrument in Chinese) to assess the degree of cognition, attitude and intention of enrolled volunteers towards UPBSC donation. Methods: The development process of the UPBSC-DQ was performed in a stepwise approach that included extensive literature retrieval, expert revision, and pretesting with 442 students. We conducted an online cross-sectional survey using the final version of the UPBSC-DQ among 336 participants. The reliability of the questionnaire was assessed by Cronbach's α and corrected item-total correlation (CITC), and the validity was evaluated by a correlation coefficient matrix, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and t-test. Results: The UPBSC-DQ consists of four domains: basic information, cognitive, attitude, and intention. The Cronbach's α values were 0.88 and 0.86 for the attitude and intention scales, respectively, indicating strong internal consistency and good reliability. Correlation analysis and CFA showed good structure and content validity. Interitem correlations indicated that each item had only a weak correlation with the other scales. Conclusions: The UPBSC-DQ is a reliable and valid assessment questionnaire for individuals’ attitudes and intentions towards UPBSC donation. The questionnaire showed good to high reliability, content and construct validity.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease, and communication between the gut and brain (the gut-brain axis) has been found to be essential in behavior and cognitive function. However, the exact mechanisms underlying microbiota dysbiosis in PD progression have not yet been elucidated. Our study aimed to investigate the correlation between gut microbiota disturbances and feces metabolic disorders in PD. We used 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) to induce PD models and observed mice's motor symptoms, dopaminergic (DA) neuron death, and gastrointestinal dysfunction. To identify alterations in microbiota and metabolome, feces were collected from mice and analyzed using 16 S ribosomal RNA sequencing feces metabolomics. Pearson analysis was utilized to investigate correlations between the abundances of gut microbiota components and the levels of gut microbiota metabolites, displaying their interaction networks. Our findings revealed a significant increase in Desulfobacterota in the PD mouse model and 151 differentially expressed fecal metabolites between PD and vehicle mice. Moreover, Pearson correlation analysis suggested that the protective factor N-acetyl-L-leucine (NALL) may be associated with neuroinflammation in the striatum and substantia nigra, which also had a negative relationship with the concentration of Desulfobacterota. Additionally, we found that oral administration of NALL alleviated MPTP-induced Motor Impairments and DA neuronal deficits. All in all, we concluded that the decrease of NALL might lead to a significant increase of Desulfobacterota in the MPTP model mouse and subsequently result in the damage of DA neurons via the gut-brain aix pathway.

There has been growing interest in the high-entropy ceramic (HEC) recently owing to its tailorable compositions and microstructures, versatile properties, together with promising structural and functional applications. However, inferior fracture toughness (KIC) and damage tolerance restricted many practical applications of the HEC. Herein, we addressed this challenge by incorporating a three-dimensional graphene–carbon nanotube (3D G–CNT) as toughening agent in (Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2Ti0.2Zr0.2)C. The resulting enhanced 3D G–CNT/(Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2Ti0.2Zr0.2)C featured an outstanding toughness of 8.23 MPa·m1/2, while remaining superior strength (763 MPa) and hardness (24.7 GPa). An ultralow friction coefficient (0.15) coupled with an ultralow wear rate (w, 2.6×10−7 mm3/(N·m)) in the 3D G–CNT/(Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2Ti0.2Zr0.2)C was obtained primarily as a function of lubricating scrolls, in which two-dimensional (2D) graphene acted as a tribolayer, and one-dimensional (1D) carbon nanotubes acted as nano ball bearings embedded inside. Strikingly, the 3D G–CNT/(Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2Ti0.2Zr0.2)C exhibited rather low thermal conductivity (κ) yet excellent electrical conductivity (σ, 1.3×106 S/m) in comparison with the pure (Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2Ti0.2Zr0.2)C. This study provided great potential for maximizing the physical and functional properties of the HEC for various applications.

Here, the authors show a two-dimensional processible supramolecular framework which can be used in the fabrication of separation membranes by integrating directional organic host-guest motifs and inorganic functional polyanionic clusters.

Background: Clinical indexes are often selected as relevant factors for constructing prognostic models of tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) patients, while factors related to therapeutic targets are less frequently included. As Apigenin (API) shows anti-tumor properties in many tumors, in this study, we construct a novel prognostic model for TSCC patients based on Apigenin-associated genes through transcriptomic analysis. Methods: The effect of Apigenin (API) on the cell characteristics of TSCC cells was measured by several phenotype experiments. RNA-seq was executed to ensure differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in squamous cell carcinoma-9 (SCC-9) cells after API treatment. Furthermore, reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and immunohistochemistry were performed to verify the expression of API-related genes. Then, combined with the gene expression data and relevant individual information of TSCC samples acquired from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), an API-related model was built through Lasso regression and multivariate Cox regression. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and a nomogram and calibration curve were created to forecast patient outcomes to improve the clinical suitability of the API-related signature. The relationships between the two risk groups and function enrichment, immune infiltration characteristics, and drug susceptibility were analyzed. Results: We demonstrated that API could inhibit the malignant behavior of TSCC cells. Among API-related genes, TSCC cells treated with API, compared to the control group, have higher levels of transmembrane protein 213 (TMEM213) and G protein-coupled receptor 158 (GPR158), and lower levels of caspase 14 (CASP14) and integrin subunit alpha 5 (ITGA5). An 7 API-associated gene model was built through Lasso regression and multivariate Cox regression that could direct TSCC prognostic status and tumor immune cell infiltration. In addition, we acquired 6 potential therapeutic agents for TSCC based on the prognostic model. Conclusions: Our research suggested the inhibition effect of API on TSCC cells and provided a novel prognostic model combined with therapeutic factors that can guide the prognosis of TSCC and clinical decision-making in TSCC.

Fluid lubricated bearings have been widely adopted as support components for high-end equipment in metrology, semiconductor devices, aviation, strategic defense, ultraprecision manufacturing, medical treatment, and power generation. In all these applications, the equipment must deliver extreme working performances such as ultraprecise movement, ultrahigh rotation speed, ultraheavy bearing loads, ultrahigh environmental temperatures, strong radiation resistance, and high vacuum operation, which have challenged the design and optimization of reliable fluid lubricated bearings. Breakthrough of any related bottlenecks will promote the development course of high-end equipment. To promote the advancement of high-end equipment, this paper reviews the design and optimization of fluid lubricated bearings operated at typical extreme working performances, targeting the realization of extreme working performances, current challenges and solutions, underlying deficiencies, and promising developmental directions. This paper can guide the selection of suitable fluid lubricated bearings and optimize their structures to meet their required working performances.

Obesity can be associated with significant metabolic disorders. Our previous study found that medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) improved lipid metabolism in obese rats. However, scant attention has been given to exploring the impact of MCTs on glucose metabolism in obese rats. This study is designed to examine the effects and mechanisms of three distinct MCTs on glucose metabolism in obese rats. To induce obesity, Sprague–Dawley (SD) rats were fed a high-fat diet, followed by a 12-week treatment with caprylic triglyceride (CYT), capric triglyceride (CT), and lauric triglyceride (LT). The results showed that three types of MCT intervention reduced the levels of lipids (TC, TG, LDL-c, and HDL-c), hyperglycemia, insulin resistance (insulin, OGTT, HOMA-IR, and ISI), and inflammatory markers (IL-4, IL-1β, and TNF-α) in obese rats (p < 0.01), The above parameters have been minimally improved in the high-fat restoring group (HR) group. MCTs can modulate the PI3K/AKT signaling pathways to alleviate insulin resistance and improve glucose metabolism in obese rats. Furthermore, MCTs can activate peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) γ and reduce the phosphorylation of PPARγser237 mediated by CDK5, which can improve insulin sensitivity without lipid deposition in obese rats. Among the MCT group, CT administration performed the best in the above pathways, with the lowest blood glucose level and insulin resistance. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the connection between health benefits and the specific type of MCT employed.

In this study, repeat-pass synthetic aperture radar interferometry (repeat-pass THz InSAR) is first extended to the terahertz band, and it has tremendous potential in the application of high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) imaging due to its shorter wavelength, larger bandwidth, and greater sensitivity to elevation variation. The super-resolution and high sensitivity of THz InSAR pose greater demands on the baseline calibration for high-precision digital elevation model (DEM) generation. To meet the elevation accuracy requirement of THz InSAR, we propose a baseline calibration method relying on the estimation of the azimuth fringe frequency (EAFF) of the interferometric phase. Initially, a model for non-parallel sampling path errors within the squint SAR repeat-pass interferometry was established, and then, we conducted the theoretical analysis of the phase errors induced by the non-parallel errors. Following this, using a reference DEM, the relationship between the fringe frequency of the error phase and the bias in the repeat-path positioning was established. This allowed the estimation of the position errors to be transformed into the frequency spectrum estimation based on the FFT, which would mitigate the impact of unknown SAR sampling positions. Ultimately, we investigated the accuracy of the proposed EAFF calibration method, and the simulation showed that it can achieve the theoretical accuracy when the correlation coefficient exceeds 0.3. Furthermore, we configured the repeat-pass THz InSAR system with the 0.3 THz stepped-frequency radar. Compared to the conventional calibration based on ground control points (GCPs), the 3D reconstruction of both a knife and a terrain model, calibrated using the proposed EAFF algorithm, demonstrated that the elevation accuracy can achieve millimeter-level precision across the entire image swath. The above results also proved the great potential of THz InSAR in high-precision 3D imaging and remote sensing.

BackgroundWith the lifting of Zero-COVID policies in China, rapid transmission of the virus has led to new challenges for patients’ health anxiety. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between COVID-19 symptoms and health anxiety, as well as the mediation paths between them in individuals infected with COVID-19.MethodA cross-sectional study was conducted in December 2022, following the relaxation of anti-COVID measures in China. A validated online questionnaire was used to collect data from COVID-19 patients on the number and severity of symptoms, health anxiety, internet health information-seeking behavior (IHISB), and perceived stigma. Structural equation modeling was used to examine the mediation model in which COVID-19 symptoms would affect health anxiety via IHISB and perceived stigma.ResultsOverall, 1,132 participants (women, 67.6%) were included, with a mean (SD) age of 28.12 (10.07) years. Participants had an average of seven COVID-19 symptoms, with cough (91.3%), nasal congestion (89.1%) and fatigue (87.8%) being the most common. The number and severity of COVID-19 symptoms, IHISB, perceived stigma, and health anxiety were positively correlated with each other after adjusting for covariates (r ranging from 0.10 to 0.81, all p

Abstract Background This study aimed to categorize different subgroups of problematic smartphone use in Chinese college students. Differences in gender and psychosocial characteristics of the categorized groups were also examined. Methods A total of 1123 participants completed the Mobile Phone Addiction Index Scale, the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale, and the Perceived Stress Scale. Using latent profile analysis, we identified different subgroups of problematic smartphone use in college students. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was implemented to examine the relationship between latent classes and demographic and psychosocial covariates. Results The four following latent classes were identified: a low-risk group, a moderate-risk with no evasiveness group, a moderate-risk with evasiveness group, and high-risk group that accounted for 11%, 24.1%, 35.5%, and 29.4% of the total sample, respectively. Further analysis revealed that female participants were more likely to be in the moderate-risk with evasiveness and high-risk groups, and individuals with depressed mood were more likely to be in the moderate-risk and high-risk groups. Conclusions Classifying college students according to the features of problematic smartphone use is potentially useful for understanding risk factors and developing targeted prevention and intervention programs.

Background Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination is expected to end the pandemic; a high coverage rate is required to meet this end. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of behavioral intention of free/self-paid COVID-19 vaccination and its associations with prosociality and social responsibility among university students in China. Methods An anonymous online cross-sectional survey was conducted among 6922 university students in five provinces in China during November 1-28, 2020. With informed consent, participants filled out an online survey link distributed to them via WeChat study groups. The response rate was 72.3%.Results The prevalence of behavioral intentions of free COVID-19 vaccination was 78.1%, but it dropped to 57.7% if the COVID-19 vaccination involved self-payment (400 RMB; around 42 USD). After adjusting for background factors, prosociality (free vaccination: adjusted odds ratio [ORa] = 1.10, 95% CI: 1.09-1.12; self-paid vaccination: ORa = 1.08, 95% CI: 1.07-1.09) and social responsibility (free vaccination: ORa = 1.17, 95% CI: 1.14-1.19; self-paid vaccination: ORa = 1.13, 95% CI: 1.11-1.14) were positively associated with the two variables of COVID-19 vaccination intention.Conclusion The present study demonstrated the positive effects of prosociality and social responsibility on the intention of COVID-19 vaccination. Accordingly, modification of prosociality and social responsibility can potentially improve COVID-19 vaccination. Future longitudinal and intervention studies are warranted to confirm such associations across populations and countries.

This study determined to investigate a strain of Lactobacillus plantarum-Gm4 (LP-GM4) isolated from the traditional sourdough. A response surface experiment was designed according to Box-Behnken central combination principle to optimize the fermentation conditions of LP-Gm4 based on the single factor experiment, and low temperature drying technology was used to prepare sourdough powder. The results showed that the optimal fermentation parameters of LP-GM4 were as follows: fermentation temperature of 31.8 ℃, fermentation time of 13.5 h and LP-Gm4 adding amount of 10 lg(CFU/g) wheat flour. The pH, TTA value and LP-GM4 bacteria count of the sourdough powder were 3.51, 17.8 and 7.2×108 CFU/g, respectively. The sourdough inoculated with LP-Gm4 and active dry yeast were used to prepare the steamed bread, using the single time fermentation progress. The skin structure, internal elasticity, taste and smell of the steamed bread were determined to be superior compared to the yeast steamed bread.

Objective: Dietary intake of fruit is associated with lower incidence of hypertension and cardiovascular risk. Papaya is a kind of delicious fruit and reported has dietary therapeutic effects, such as digestive stimulation and hypotensive efficacy. However, the mechanism of pawpaw involved have not been elucidated. Here, we illustrate that the effect of pawpaw on the gut microbiota and the prevention of cardiac remodeling. Methods: Gut microbiome, cardiac structure/function, and blood pressure were examined in SHR and WKY groups. The intestinal barrier was tested with histopathologic; immunostaining and Western blot were used to measure the tight junction protein level; Gpr41 was tested by RT-PCR, and inflammatory factors were detected with ELISA. Results: We observed a significant decrease in microbial richness, diversity, and evenness is the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR), in addition to an increased Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio. These changes were accompanied by decreased in acetate and butyrate-producing bacteria. Compared with SHR, treatment with pawpaw at the dosage of 10 g/kg for 12 weeks significantly reduced the blood pressure, cardiac fibrosis and cardiac hypertrophy, while the ratio of F/B decreased. We also found that the concentration of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) was increased in SHR fed with pawpaw compared with that in control group, while the gut barrier was restored and level of proinflammatory cytokines in the serum were decreased. Conclusions: Pawpaw, rich of high fiber, led to changes in the gut microbiota that played a protective role in the development of cardiac remodeling. The potential mechanism of pawpaw may explained by the generation of one of the main metabolites of the gut microbiota, the short-chain fatty acid acetate, increasing tight junction protein level occluding to enhance the gut barrier for less releasing the inflammation cytokines, and upregulating G-protein-coupled receptor 41 (GPR41) to reduce blood pressure.

BackgroundLow temperature is conducive to the survival of COVID-19. Some studies suggest that cold-chain environment may prolong the survival of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and increase the risk of transmission. However, the effect of cold-chain environmental factors and packaging materials on SARS-CoV-2 stability remains unclear.MethodsThis study aimed to reveal cold-chain environmental factors that preserve the stability of SARS-CoV-2 and further explore effective disinfection measures for SARS-CoV-2 in the cold-chain environment. The decay rate of SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus in the cold-chain environment, on various types of packaging material surfaces, i.e., polyethylene plastic, stainless steel, Teflon and cardboard, and in frozen seawater was investigated. The influence of visible light (wavelength 450 nm-780 nm) and airflow on the stability of SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus at -18°C was subsequently assessed.ResultsExperimental data show that SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus decayed more rapidly on porous cardboard surfaces than on nonporous surfaces, including polyethylene (PE) plastic, stainless steel, and Teflon. Compared with that at 25°C, the decay rate of SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus was significantly lower at low temperatures. Seawater preserved viral stability both at -18°C and with repeated freeze−thaw cycles compared with that in deionized water. Visible light from light-emitting diode (LED) illumination and airflow at -18°C reduced SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus stability.ConclusionOur studies indicate that temperature and seawater in the cold chain are risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 transmission, and LED visible light irradiation and increased airflow may be used as disinfection measures for SARS-CoV-2 in the cold-chain environment.

Gut microbiota (GM) dynamics during pregnancy vary among different populations and are affected by many factors, such as living environments and diet. This study aims to observe and evaluate the changes in the structure and function of the GM from the first to the third trimester of pregnancy in Chinese women, and to explore the main factors affecting the changes in intestinal microecology. Fifty-five Chinese pregnant women were recruited for this study and their fecal samples were collected during the first (P1), second (P2), and third trimesters (P3) of pregnancy. We exploited metagenomic sequencing to compare the composition and function of the GM in different pregnancy periods. Bioinformatic analysis revealed that there were differences in the composition of the GM among P1, P2, and P3, as indicated by the increase in α-diversity and β-diversity of the GM and the differences in the relative abundances of distinct bacterial phyla. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) was the main factor (P < 0.05) that affected the changes in GM at various stages of pregnancy. There were also disparities in the structure of the GM between the GDM group and non-GDM group in the P1, P2, and P3. The GDM group exhibited increased abundances in Ruminococcus_gnavus, Akkermansia_muciniphila, Alistipes_shahii, Blautia_obeum, and Roseburia_intestinalis; while, the abundances of Bacteroides coprocola, Bacteroides plebeius, Erysipelatoclostridium ramosum, and Prevotella copri were increased in the non-GDM group. Three of the four species enriched in the non-GDM group manifestied significantly negative correlations with the insulin-signaling pathway and lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis (r ≤ −0.3, adjusted P < 0.05). In the GDM group, Bacteroides vulgatus and Ruminococcus gnavus were significantly and positively correlated with insulin signaling pathway and lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis (r ≤ −0.3, adjusted P < 0.05) among the species enriched from early pregnancy. Virtually all of the species enriched in P2 and P3 were positively correlated with steroid hormone biosynthesis. These results suggest a potential role for the GM in the development of GDM, enabling the potential prevention of GDM by targeting the GM.

Coal–rock disasters are becoming more and more severe as the intensity of coal mining increases. Due to its destructive power and resulting extensive area damage, rock burst is among the most critical threats to coal mine safety. It results from the combined action of the coal and the rock when affected by the mining process. To this end, we used a combination of coal and rock to conduct our studies. Combining a uniaxial compression experiment with theoretical analysis, this work investigated how different lithologies and coal–rock height ratios affect the mechanical properties of this combination and the law governing energy accumulation. We determined the following: When the coal–rock height ratios are dissimilar, the peak strength and modulus of elasticity of the combination show a negative correlation with the coal thickness share, and the pre-peak energy accumulation and impact energy index of the combination is positively correlated with the coal thickness percentage. In combination with the same coal–rock height ratio, the peak strength, elastic modulus, pre-peak energy accumulation, and impact energy index all increase with increased rock strength and elastic modulus. The presence of a hard rock layer affects the accumulation of pre-peak energy. Based on the experimental analysis, a theoretical model was established, and the surrounding rock stress negatively correlates with the percentage of coal thickness; the energy stored in the surrounding rock is directly proportional to the coal in the zone. Therefore, we inferred that the stress distribution of the surrounding rock as coal thickness changes is abnormal; substantial energy accumulation can swiftly initiate dynamic disasters, such as rock bursts. This study has important reference significance for preventing and controlling rock bursts in areas where coal thickness changes.

The ground surface deformation induced by shield tunnels passing through enclosure structures of existing tunnels is a particular underground construction scenario that has been encountered in Wuhan Metro Line 12 engineering cases in China. Timely ground deformation prediction is important to keep shield tunneling safe. However, the classic ground deformation theory is difficult to accurately predict for this ground deformation. This paper develops a semi-analytical method to predict ground heave considering the space effect in this engineering condition. Based on the improved ground deformation theory, a novel deformation prediction method for the ground and enclosure structure is derived and combined with Kirchhoff plate theory. Comparing with field deformation measurements, the maximum difference between the measured and calculated deformation is 14.6%, which demonstrates that the proposed method can be used to predict the ground heave induced by shield tunnels passing through the enclosure structure of existing tunnels. The parameters of the underground diaphragm wall used in Wuhan Metro Line 12 are further studied in detail. The results show that the ground heaves have a positive correlation with the embedded ratio of the diaphragm wall, but a negative correlation with its elastic modulus and thickness. However, the thickness and embedded ratio have a limited effect on ground heaves. This study provides a technical reference for optimizing the setting of enclosure structures in order to protect existing buildings.

The leavening of wheat-based steamed bread is carried out either with a pure yeast culture or with traditional starter cultures containing both lactic acid bacteria and yeast/mold. The use of variable starter cultures significantly affects steamed bread’s quality attributes, including nutritional profile. In this paper, differences in physicochemical properties, the type of digested starch, the production of free amino acids, and the specific volume of steamed bread under three fermentation methods (blank, yeast, and LP-GM4-yeast) were compared. The digestion characteristics (protein and starch hydrolysis) of steamed bread produced by using either yeast alone or a combination of Lactiplantibacillus plantrum and yeast (LP-GM4-yeast) were analyzed by an in vitro simulated digestion technique. It was found that the specific volume of steamed bread fermented by LP-GM4-yeast co-culture was increased by about 32%, the proportion of resistant starch was significantly increased (more than double), and soluble protein with molecular weight of 30–40 kDa was significantly increased. The results of this study showed that steamed bread produced by LP-GM4-yeast co-culture is more beneficial to human health than that by single culture.

An efficient spectrum reconstruction algorithm based on the Tikhonov regularization for terahertz (THz) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) azimuth non-uniform sampling is proposed in this article. The high bandwidth, high azimuth resolution, and high frame rate characteristics of THz SAR contribute to its wide application prospects in both military and civilian remote sensing fields. However, the higher azimuth sampling rate also leads to the more severe non-uniform sampling issues of THz SAR. Traditional methods based on the hardware adjustment of pulse repetition frequency (PRF) and simple interpolation for azimuth resampling struggle to meet the higher imaging quality requirements. The back projection algorithm (BPA) can accurately focus non-uniformly sampled data but requires significant computational resources. The algorithm proposed in this paper, which can reconstruct the wavenumber spectrum of SAR azimuth non-uniformly sampled signals, transforms the spectrum reconstruction problem into a linear equation system and solves it using Tikhonov regularization, thereby exhibiting higher computational efficiency compared to BPA. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm is derived from precise theoretical formulations and controls the solution error by utilizing a regularization parameter, leading to a superior imaging quality compared to the azimuth resampling algorithm. In this paper, an accurate spectrum reconstruction formula of non-uniform sampling signals with a finite length is derived, the influence of noise error on the solution is analyzed, and the THz SAR azimuth non-uniform sampling signals are processed from the wavenumber domain. Finally, simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Ethnopharmacological relevance: Salvianolic acid D (Sal D) is a natural substance extracted from Radix Salviae that performs a cardiovascular benefit. However, the protective mechanism of Sal-D for heart failure remains uncertain. Aim of the study: In this study, we aim to evaluate the effect of Sal D on heart failure and elucidate its underlying mechanisms. Materials and methods: Using the spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) as a cardiac remodelling model, the cardioprotective effect of Sal D was evaluated. Employing bioinformatics analysis, the related mechanisms of Sal D treatment on heart failure were identified and validated by Western blot and polymerase chain reaction. Results: The results showed that Sal D significantly improved cardiac function and attenuated cardiac hypertrophy. Besides, Sal D impaired mitochondrial structure and restored the energy charge of cardiomyocytes managed by angiotensin II. Bioinformatics analysis suggested that Sal D might improve heart failure by modulating the Ras and PI3K/AKT signalling pathways verified in vitro and in vivo. Conclusion: In summary, Sal D can improve the heart function of SHR by inhibiting the Ras signalling pathway and activating the PI3K/AKT signalling pathway.

The rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM) exerts bidirectional descending modulation of pain attributable to the activity of electrophysiologically identified pronociceptive ON and antinociceptive OFF neurons. Here, we report that GABAergic ON neurons specifically express G protein–coupled estrogen receptor (GPER). GPER+ neurons exhibited characteristic ON-like responses upon peripheral nociceptive stimulation. Optogenetic activation of GPER+ neurons facilitated, but their ablation abrogated, pain. Furthermore, activation of GPER caused depolarization of ON cells, potentiated pain, and ameliorated morphine analgesia through desensitizing μ-type opioid receptor–mediated (MOR-mediated) activation of potassium currents. In contrast, genetic ablation or pharmacological blockade of GPER attenuated pain, enhanced morphine analgesia, and delayed the development of morphine tolerance in diverse preclinical pain models. Our data strongly indicate that GPER is a marker for GABAergic ON cells and illuminate the mechanisms underlying hormonal regulation of pain and analgesia, thus highlighting GPER as a promising target for the treatment of pain and opioid tolerance.
