Abstract

In the present work the recrystallization texture evolution in a cold rolled ultra-low carbon steel, 0.0033%, after annealing at different temperatures has been analysed. The results have been discused in terms of the mechanisms reported in the literature to explain the recrystalization texture development, oriented nucleation and selective growth.En el presente trabajo, se ha realizado un análisis de la evolución de la textura de recristalización desarrollada en un acero deformado en frío, con un contenido ultrabajo en carbono, 0.0033%, al ser recocido a diferentes temperaturas. Los cambios observados se han contrastado con los dos mecanismos propuestos en bibliografía para interpretar la formación de las texturas de recristalización: nucleación orientada y crecimiento selectivo.

Abstract

The superposition of quantum states is one of the hallmarks of quantum physics, and clear demonstrations of superposition have been achieved in a number of quantum systems. However, mechanical systems have remained a challenge, with only indirect demonstrations of mechanical state superpositions, in spite of the intellectual appeal and technical utility such a capability would bring. This is due in part to the highly linear response of most mechanical systems, making quantum operation difficult, as well as their characteristically low frequencies, making it difficult to reach the quantum ground state. In this work, we demonstrate full quantum control of the mechanical state of a macroscopic mechanical resonator. We strongly couple a surface acoustic wave resonator to a superconducting qubit, using the qubit to control and measure quantum states in the mechanical resonator. Most notably, we generate a quantum superposition of the zero and one phonon states and map this and other states using Wigner tomography. This precise, programmable quantum control is essential to a range of applications of surface acoustic waves in the quantum limit, including using surface acoustic waves to couple disparate quantum systems.

Abstract

Genomes contain rare guanine-rich sequences capable of assembling into four-stranded helical structures, termed G-quadruplexes, with potential roles in gene regulation and chromosome stability. Their mechanical unfolding has only been reported to date by all-atom simulations, which cannot dissect the major physical interactions responsible for their cohesion. Here, we propose a mesoscopic model to describe both the mechanical and thermal stability of DNA G-quadruplexes, where each nucleotide of the structure, as well as each central cation located at the inner channel, is mapped onto a single bead. In this framework we are able to simulate loading rates similar to the experimental ones, which are not reachable in simulations with atomistic resolution. In this regard, we present single-molecule force-induced unfolding experiments by a high-resolution optical tweezers on a DNA telomeric sequence capable of forming a G-quadruplex conformation. Fitting the parameters of the model to the experiments we find a correct prediction of the rupture-force kinetics and a good agreement with previous near equilibrium measurements. Since G-quadruplex unfolding dynamics is halfway in complexity between secondary nucleic acids and tertiary protein structures, our model entails a nanoscale paradigm for non-equilibrium processes in the cell.

In this article, we introduce a new type of pseudo-differential equations naturally connected with non-archimedean pseudo-differential operators and whose symbols are new classes of negative definite functions in the p-adic context and in arbitrary dimension. These equations are proposed as a mathematical models to study the spreading of infectious diseases (say COVID-19) through a random walk on a complex energy landscape and taking into account social clusters in a situation of extreme social isolation. Abstract

The role of gut barrier against pathogens and its interaction with dietary factors in weaned rabbits affected with digestive disorders, especially epizootic rabbit enteropathy is reviewed. This interaction was studied identifying nutritive factors that influence gut barrier function of mucosa. It was examined the morphology, and enzyme activity of mucosa and the gut associated immune system. Besides, it was characterized the substrate that reaches the caecum and its capacity to favour pathogen bacteria growth, by reviewing the effect of diet on ileal digestibility of nutrients, transit time and microbiota population. The nutritional factors which affect health of early weaned rabbits are level and type of both fibre and protein. The optimal dietary level of insoluble fibre to minimise mortality is 30-32%. Furthermore, a moderate inclusion of soluble fibre (12%) improves mucosa integrity and decreases mortality and the frequency of detection of Clostridium perfringens and Campylobacter spp in the caecum. The reduction of ileal nitrogen flow had a positive effect on pups viability and frequency of detection of C. perfringens. Furthermore, dietary supplementation with 1% of glutamine reduced fattening mortality, the frequency of detection of C. perfringens, and Helicobacter spp, and diminished the counts of Eimeria spp at the jejunum. Abstract

We report a systematic study of the bias-dependent contact resistance in rubrene single-crystal field-effect transistors with Ni, Co, Cu, Au, and Pt electrodes. We show that the reproducibility in the values of contact resistance strongly depends on the metal, ranging from a factor of two for Ni to more than three orders of magnitude for Au. Surprisingly, FETs with Ni, Co, and Cu contacts exhibits an unexpected reproducibility of the bias-dependent differential conductance of the contacts, once this has been normalized to the value measured at zero bias. This reproducibility may enable the study of microscopic carrier injection processes into organic semiconductors., Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures
