Abstract: Abstract We report the measurement of the two-photon decay width of χ c2(1P) in two-photon processes at the Belle experiment. We analyze the process γγ → χ c2(1P) → J/ψγ, J/ψ → ℓ + ℓ − (ℓ = e or μ) using a data sample of 971 fb −1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − collider. In this analysis, the product of the two-photon decay width of χ c2(1P) and the branching fraction is determined to be Γ γγ χ c 2 1 P B χ c 2 1 P → J / ψγ B J / ψ → ℓ + ℓ − = 14.8 ± 0.3 stat . ± 0.7 syst . $$ {\Gamma}_{\gamma \gamma}\left({\chi}_{c2}(1P)\right)\mathcal{B}\left({\chi}_{c2}(1P)\to J/\psi \gamma \right)\mathcal{B}\left(J/\psi \to {\ell}^{+}{\ell}^{-}\right)=14.8\pm 0.3\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.7\left(\textrm{syst}.\right) $$ eV, which corresponds to Γ γγ (χ c2(1P)) = 653 ± 13(stat.) ± 31(syst.) ± 17(B.R.) eV, where the third uncertainty is from B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (χ c2(1P) → J/ψγ) and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (J/ψ → ℓ + ℓ − ).

Abstract: Abstract This article describes the setup and performance of the near and far detectors in the Double Chooz experiment. The electron antineutrinos of the Chooz nuclear power plant were measured in two identically designed detectors with different average baselines of about 400 m and 1050 m from the two reactor cores. Over many years of data taking the neutrino signals were extracted from interactions in the detectors with the goal of measuring a fundamental parameter in the context of neutrino oscillation, the mixing angle $$\theta _{13}$$ θ 13 . The central part of the Double Chooz detectors was a main detector comprising four cylindrical volumes filled with organic liquids. From the inside towards the outside there were volumes containing gadolinium-loaded scintillator, gadolinium-free scintillator, a buffer oil and, optically separated, another liquid scintillator acting as veto system. Above this main detector an additional outer veto system using plastic scintillator strips was installed. The technologies developed in Double Chooz were inspiration for several other antineutrino detectors in the field. The detector design allowed implementation of efficient background rejection techniques including use of pulse shape information provided by the data acquisition system. The Double Chooz detectors featured remarkable stability, in particular for the detected photons, as well as high radiopurity of the detector components.

Abstract: Abstract Using a data sample of 980 fb −1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider, we study the processes of Ξ c 0 → Λ K ¯ ∗ 0 $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to \Lambda {\overline{K}}^{\ast 0} $$ , Ξ c 0 → Σ 0 K ¯ ∗ 0 $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Sigma}^0{\overline{K}}^{\ast 0} $$ , and Ξ c 0 → Σ + K ∗ − $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Sigma}^{+}{K}^{\ast -} $$ for the first time. The asymmetry parameters α Ξ c 0 → Λ K ¯ ∗ 0 $$ \alpha \left({\Xi}_c^0\to \Lambda {\overline{K}}^{\ast 0}\right) $$ and α Ξ c 0 → Σ + K ∗ − $$ \alpha \left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Sigma}^{+}{K}^{\ast -}\right) $$ are 0.15 ± 0.22(stat.) ± 0.04(syst.) and −0.52 ± 0.30(stat.) ± 0.02(syst.), respectively, where the uncertainties are statistical followed by systematic.

We observe a new structure in the energy dependence of the cross sections; if described by a Breit-Wigner function its mass and width are found to be M = 10752.7 ± 5.9 − 1.1 + 0.7 MeV / c 2 $$ M=\left(10752.7\pm {5.9}_{-1.1}^{+0.7}\right)\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^2 $$ and Γ = 35.5 − 11.3 − 3.3 + 17.6 + 3.9 $$ \Gamma =\left({35.5}_{-11.3\kern0.5em -3.3}^{+17.6+3.9}\right) $$ MeV, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. The global significance of the new structure including systematic uncertainty is 5.2 standard deviations. We also find evidence for the e + e − → ϒ (1S)π + π − process at the energy 10.52 GeV, which is below the B B ¯ $$ \overline{B} $$ threshold.

Abstract: Abstract We report evidence for the charged charmed-strange baryon $$\Xi _{c}(2930)^+$$ Ξc(2930)+ with a signal significance of 3.9$$\sigma $$ σ with systematic errors included. The charged $$\Xi _{c}(2930)^+$$ Ξc(2930)+ is found in its decay to $$K_{S}^{0} \Lambda _{c}^+$$ KS0Λc+ in the substructure of $$\bar{B}^{0} \rightarrow K^{0}_{S} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ B¯0→KS0Λc+Λ¯c- decays. The measured mass and width are $$[2942.3 \pm 4.4 ({\mathrm{stat.}}) \pm {1.5}({\mathrm{syst.}})]$$ [2942.3±4.4(stat.)±1.5(syst.)] MeV/$$c^{2}$$ c2 and $$[14.8 \pm 8.8({\mathrm{stat.}}) \pm {2.5}({\mathrm{syst.}})]$$ [14.8±8.8(stat.)±2.5(syst.)] MeV, respectively, and the product branching fraction is $$\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \rightarrow \Xi _c(2930)^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) \mathcal{B}(\Xi _c(2930)^{+}\rightarrow \bar{K}^{0} \Lambda _{c}^{+})=[2.37 \pm 0.51 ({\mathrm{stat.}})\pm 0.31({\mathrm{syst.}})]\times 10^{-4}$$ B(B¯0→Ξc(2930)+Λ¯c-)B(Ξc(2930)+→K¯0Λc+)=[2.37±0.51(stat.)±0.31(syst.)]×10-4 . We also measure $$\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \rightarrow \bar{K}^{0} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76({\mathrm{stat.}}) \pm 0.51({\mathrm{syst.}})] \times 10^{-4}$$ B(B¯0→K¯0Λc+Λ¯c-)=[3.99±0.76(stat.)±0.51(syst.)]×10-4 with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state Y(4660) and its spin partner, $$Y_{\eta }$$ Yη , in the $$\Lambda _{c}^{+}\bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ Λc+Λ¯c- invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the Y(4660) or $$Y_{\eta }$$ Yη are observed and the 90% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. These measurements are obtained from a sample of $$(772\pm 11)\times 10^{6} B\bar{B}$$ (772±11)×106BB¯ pairs collected at the $$\Upsilon (4S)$$ Υ(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider.

Abstract: Abstract We study bottomonium production in association with an $$\eta $$ η meson in $$e^+e^-$$ e+e- annihilations near the $$\varUpsilon (5S)$$ Υ(5S) , at a centre-of-mass energy of $$\sqrt{s}=10.866$$ s=10.866 GeV. The results are based on the 121.4 fb$$^{-1}$$ -1 data sample collected by the Belle experiment at the asymmetric-energy KEKB collider. Only the $$\eta $$ η meson is reconstructed and the missing-mass spectrum of $$\eta $$ η candidates is investigated. We observe the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \varUpsilon _J(1D)$$ e+e-→ηΥJ(1D) process and find evidence for the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \varUpsilon (2S)$$ e+e-→ηΥ(2S) process, while no significant signals of $$\varUpsilon (1S)$$ Υ(1S) , $$h_b(1P)$$ hb(1P) , nor $$h_b(2P)$$ hb(2P) are found. Cross sections for the studied processes are reported.

The $$\Xi _{c}(2930)^0$$ Ξc(2930)0 is found in its decay to $$K^- \Lambda _{c}^+$$ K-Λc+ in $$B^{-} \rightarrow K^{-} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ B-→K-Λc+Λ¯c- decays. The measured mass and width are $$[2928.9 \pm 3.0(\mathrm stat.)^{+0.9}_{-12.0}(\mathrm syst.)]$$ [2928.9±3.0(stat.)-12.0+0.9(syst.)] MeV/$$c^{2}$$ c2 and $$[19.5 \pm 8.4(\mathrm stat.) ^{+5.9}_{-7.9}(\mathrm syst.)]$$ [19.5±8.4(stat.)-7.9+5.9(syst.)] MeV, respectively, and the product branching fraction is $$\mathcal{B}(B^{-} \rightarrow \Xi _{c}(2930)^0 \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) \mathcal{B}(\Xi _{c}(2930)^0 \rightarrow K^- \Lambda _{c}^{+})=[1.73 \pm 0.45(\mathrm stat.) \pm 0.21(\mathrm syst.)]\times 10^{-4}$$ B(B-→Ξc(2930)0Λ¯c-)B(Ξc(2930)0→K-Λc+)=[1.73±0.45(stat.)±0.21(syst.)]×10-4 . We also measure $$\mathcal{B}(B^{-} \rightarrow K^{-} \Lambda _{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}) = [4.80 \pm 0.43(\mathrm stat.) \pm 0.60(\mathrm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$$ B(B-→K-Λc+Λ¯c-)=[4.80±0.43(stat.)±0.60(syst.)]×10-4 with improved precision, and search for the charmonium-like state Y(4660) and its spin partner, $$Y_{\eta }$$ Yη , in the $$\Lambda _{c}^{+}\bar{\Lambda }_{c}^{-}$$ Λc+Λ¯c- invariant mass spectrum. Abstract: We report an improved measurement of D0–D‾0 mixing and a search for CP violation in D0 decays to CP-even final states K+K− and π+π−. The measurement is based on the final Belle data sample of 976 fb−1. The results are yCP=(1.11±0.22±0.09)% and AΓ=(−0.03±0.20±0.07)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Abstract: We report results from a study of the spin and parity of $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ using a $980~\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The decay angle distributions in the chain $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c(2645)^{0}\pi^{+} \to \Xi_c^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}$ are analyzed to determine the spin of this charmed-strange baryon. The angular distributions strongly favor the $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ spin $J =1/2$ over $3/2$ or $5/2$, under an assumption that the lowest partial wave dominates in the decay. We also measure the ratio of $\Xi_{c}(2970)^+$ decay branching fractions $R={\mathcal{B}[ \Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c(2645)^{0}\pi^{+} ]} / { \mathcal{B}[ \Xi_{c}(2970)^+ \to \Xi_c^{\prime0}\pi^{+} ]} =1.67 \pm 0.29\mathrm{(stat.)}^{ +0.15}_{ -0.09}\mathrm{(syst.)} \pm 0.25\mathrm{(IS)}$, where the last uncertainty is due to possible isospin-symmetry-breaking effects. This $R$ value favors the spin-parity $J^P=1/2^+$ with the spin of the light-quark degrees of freedom $s_{l}=0$. This is the first determination of the spin and parity of a charmed-strange baryon.

Abstract: We report the first evidence for $X(3872)$ production in two-photon interactions by tagging either the electron or the position in the final state, exploring the highly virtual photon region. The search is performed in $e^+e^- \rightarrow e^+e^-J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$, using 825 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the Belle detector operated at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. We observe three $X(3872)$ candidates with an expected background of $0.11\pm 0.10$ events, with a significance of 3.2$\sigma$. We obtain an estimated value for $\tilde{\Gamma}_{\gamma\gamma}{\cal B}(X(3872)\rightarrow J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$) assuming the $Q^2$ dependence predicted by a $c\bar{c}$ meson model, where $-Q^2$ is the invariant mass-squared of the virtual photon. No $X(3915)\rightarrow J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$ candidates are found.

Abstract: We measure the time-dependent $C\!P$ violation parameters in $B^{0} \to K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}$ decays using $772 \times 10^6$ $B {\mkern 1.5mu\overline{\mkern-1.5mu B \mkern-0.1mu}\mkern 0.1mu}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon (4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The obtained mixing-induced and direct $C\!P$ asymmetries are $-0.71 \pm 0.23~{\rm(stat)} \pm 0.05~{\rm(syst)}$ and $0.12 \pm 0.16~{\rm(stat)} \pm 0.05~{\rm(syst)}$, respectively. These values are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. The significance of $C\!P$ violation differs from zero by 2.5 standard deviations.

Abstract: Using a data sample of 980 fb−1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider, we study the processes of $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to \Lambda {\overline{K}}^{\ast 0} $$ Ξ c 0 → Λ K ¯ ∗ 0 , $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Sigma}^0{\overline{K}}^{\ast 0} $$ Ξ c 0 → Σ 0 K ¯ ∗ 0 , and $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Sigma}^{+}{K}^{\ast -} $$ Ξ c 0 → Σ + K ∗ − for the first time. Abstract: We report the results of a first search for a doubly charged DDK bound state, denoted the R++, in ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) inclusive decays and via direct production in e+e- collisions at s=10.520, 10.580, and 10.867 GeV. The search uses data accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. No significant signals are observed in the D+Ds∗+ invariant-mass spectra of all studied modes. The 90% credibility level upper limits on their product branching fractions in ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) inclusive decays (B(ϒ(1S, 2S)→R+++anything)×B(R++→D+Ds∗+)), the product values of Born cross section and branching fraction in e+e- collisions (σ(e+e-→R+++anything)×B(R++→D+Ds∗+)) at s=10.520, 10.580, and 10.867 GeV under different assumptions of R++ masses varying from 4.13 to 4.17 GeV/c2 and widths varying from 0 to 5 MeV are obtained.

Abstract: Using data collected in the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider we search for transitions Υ(4S)→ η$_{b}$(1S)ω, Υ(5S)→η$_{b}$(1S)ω and Υ(5S)→η$_{b}$(2S)ω. No significant signals are observed and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the corresponding visible cross sections: 0.2 pb, 0.4 pb and 1.9 pb, respectively.

20. Association between bleeding avoidance and outcomes: Japanese coronary intervention registry report in collaboration with ACC-NCDR

Abstract: Background Bleeding avoidance strategies (BASs) such as radial access and closure device use for femoral access have been increasingly being implemented but its association with bleeding events among East Asians with reported higher bleeding risk remains unclear. Purpose To demonstrate the performance of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) CathPCI bleeding risk score, 10-year trend of BAS utilization rate and its relationship with observed bleeding within a Japanese PCI quality improvement initiative established in collaboration with the American College of Cardiology-NCDR. Methods A cohort of 19,656 consecutive Japanese patients undergoing PCI was included. First, we assessed the discrimination of the validated NCDR CathPCI bleeding score in the study population. We then assessed temporal trends in the implementation of BAS for PCI and calculated the observed versus expected bleeding rate [O/E ratio] in four time periods (T1: 2008–2011, T2: 2012–2013, T3: 2014–2015, T4: 2016–2018). In multivariable logistic models, we calculated the correlation between BAS use and bleeding rates in individual time frames. Results During the study period, the application of BAS increased from 42.2% (T1) to 90.3% (T4) and observed bleeding rate declined from 10.2% (T1) to 7.3% (T4). The discrimination of the NCDR CathPCI bleeding risk score was acceptable in the Japanese population (c-statistics 0.760–0.845). The calculated O/E ratio declined from 1.34 (T1) to 1.14 (T4). The use of radial access and vascular closure devices after transfemoral access use was associated with 46.7–56.6% and 25.6–47.5% bleeding reduction rates, respectively. The correlation between greater BAS adoption and the decline in bleeding rates was greater among elective cases than urgent/emergent cases. Conclusion Our findings support the positive impact of the adoption of BAS in Japanese patients undergoing PCI. This study demonstrates the value of common data standards and risk adjustment developed in registries to support high quality care. Abstract: Using 980 fb−1 of data collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy eþe− collider, we report a study of the electromagnetic decays of excited charmed baryons Ξcð2790Þ and Ξcð2815Þ. A clear signal (8.6 standard deviations) is observed for Ξcð2815Þ0 → Ξ0 cγ, and we measure: B½Ξcð2815Þ0 → Ξ0 cγ B½Ξcð2815Þ0 → Ξcð2645Þþπ− → Ξ0 cπþπ− ¼ 0.41 0.05 0.03. We also present evidence (3.8 standard deviations) for the similar decay of the Ξcð2790Þ0 and measure: B½Ξcð2790Þ0 → Ξ0 cγ B½Ξcð2790Þ0 → Ξ0þ c π− → Ξþ c γπ− ¼ 0.13 0.03 0.02. The first quoted uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. We find no hint of the analogous decays of the Ξcð2815Þþ and Ξcð2790Þþ baryons and set upper limits at the 90% confidence level of: B½Ξcð2815Þþ → Ξþ c γ B½Ξcð2815Þþ → Ξcð2645Þ0πþ → Ξþ c π−πþ < 0.09, and B½Ξcð2790Þþ → Ξþ c γ B½Ξcð2790Þþ → Ξ00 c πþ → Ξ0 cγπþ < 0.06. Approximate values of the partial widths of the decays are extracted, which can be used to discriminate between models of the underlying quark structure of these excited states.

Abstract: Bleeding avoidance strategies (BASs) are increasingly adopted for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) due to bleeding complications. However, their association with bleeding events outside of Western countries remains unclear. In collaboration with the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) CathPCI registry, we aimed to assess the time trend and impact of BAS utilization among Japanese patients.Our study included 19,656 consecutive PCI patients registered over 10 years. These patients were divided into 4-time frame groups (T1: 2008-2011, T2: 2012-2013, T3: 2014-2015, and T4: 2016-2018). BAS was defined as the use of transradial approach or vascular closure device (VCD) use after transfemoral approach (TFA). Model performance of the NCDR CathPCI bleeding model was evaluated. The degree of bleeding reduction associated with BAS adoption was estimated via multilevel mixed-effects multivariable logistic regression analysis.The NCDR CathPCI bleeding risk score demonstrated good discrimination in the Japanese population (C-statistics 0.79-0.81). The BAS adoption rate increased from 43% (T1) to 91% (T4), whereas the crude CathPCI-defined bleeding rate decreased from 10% (T1) to 7% (T4). Adjusted odds ratios for bleeding events were 0.25 (95% confidence interval, 0.14-0.45, P.001) for those undergoing TFA with VCD in T4 and 0.26 (95% confidence interval 0.20-0.35, P.001) for transradial approach in T4 compared to patients that received TFA without VCD in T1.BAS use over the studied time frames was associated with lower risk of bleeding complications among Japanese. Nonetheless, observed bleeding rates remained higher compared to the US population.

Abstract: Background Quantifying the risks and benefits of revascularization for chronic limb-threatening ischaemia (CLTI) is important. The aim of this study was to create a risk prediction model for treatment outcomes 30 days after revascularization in patients with CLTI. Methods Consecutive patients with CLTI who had undergone revascularization between 2013 and 2016 were collected from the JAPAN Critical Limb Ischemia Database (JCLIMB). The cohort was divided into a development and a validation cohort. In the development cohort, multivariable risk models were constructed to predict major amputation and/or death and major adverse limb events using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator logistic regression. This developed model was applied to the validation cohort and its performance was evaluated using c-statistic and calibration plots. Results Some 2906 patients were included in the analysis. The major amputation and/or mortality rate within 30 days of arterial reconstruction was 5.0 per cent (144 of 2906), and strong predictors were abnormal white blood cell count, emergency procedure, congestive heart failure, body temperature of 38°C or above, and hemodialysis. Conversely, moderate, low or no risk in the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) and ambulatory status were associated with improved results. The c-statistic value was 0.82 with high prediction accuracy. The rate of major adverse limb events was 6.4 per cent (185 of 2906), and strong predictors were abnormal white blood cell count and body temperature of 38°C or above. Moderate, low or no risk in the GNRI, and age greater than 84 years were associated with improved results. The c-statistic value was 0.79, with high prediction accuracy. Conclusion This risk prediction model can help in deciding on the treatment strategy in patients with CLTI and serve as an index for evaluating the quality of each medical facility.

Abstract: We report searches for B0→invisible and B0→invisible+γ decays, where the energy of the photon is required to be larger than 0.5 GeV. These results are obtained from a 711 fb-1 data sample that contains 772×106BB¯ pairs and was collected near the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We observe no significant signal for either decay and set upper limits on their branching fractions at 90% confidence level of B(B0→invisible)

Abstract: Radiation-enhanced diffusion (RED) of copper (Cu) in iron (Fe) is essential for understanding solute/impurity diffusion in nuclear materials, especially reactor pressure vessel steel, but has been rarely reported experimentally. In this study, we performed a high-precision investigation of RED using well-controlled electron irradiation and three-dimensional atom probe (3D-AP). Cu-Fe diffusion pairs were created using high-purity Fe and Cu as base materials, and irradiated by 2 MeV electron at a temperature of 773 – 893 K controlled to within ±3 K. Cu diffusion into the Fe matrix was observed at the atomic level using 3D-AP, and the diffusion coefficient was obtained directly using Fick's law. RED was clearly observed, and the ratio of diffusion under irradiation to thermal diffusion was increased as the irradiation temperature decreased. RED was quantitatively evaluated using the reaction kinetics model, and the model which consider only vacancies gave a good agreement. This gave experimental clarification that RED was dominated by irradiation-induced vacancies. In addition, the direct experimental results on the effect of irradiation on the solubility limits of Cu in Fe was obtained; solubility limits under irradiation were found to be lower than those under thermal aging.
