Abstract

Using a data set of 2.93 fb−1 taken at a center-of-mass energy s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we perform a search for an extra U(1) gauge boson, also denoted as a dark photon. We examine the initial state radiation reactions e+e−→e+e−γISR and e+e−→μ+μ−γISR for this search, where the dark photon would appear as an enhancement in the invariant mass distribution of the leptonic pairs. We observe no obvious enhancement in the mass range between 1.5 and 3.4 GeV/c2 and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the mixing strength of the dark photon and the Standard Model photon. We obtain a competitive limit in the tested mass range.

Abstract

Using a data set of 2.93 fb−1 taken at a center-of-mass energy of s=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the process e+e−→J/ψγ→μ+μ−γ and determine the product of the branching fraction and the electronic width Bμμ⋅Γee=(333.4±2.5stat±4.4sys) eV. Using the earlier-published BESIII result for Bμμ=(5.973±0.007stat±0.037sys)%, we derive the J/ψ electronic width Γee=(5.58±0.05stat±0.08sys) keV.

Abstract

We study Ds+ decays to final states involving the η′ with a 482 pb−1 data sample collected at s=4.009 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We measure the branching fractions B(Ds+→η′X)=(8.8±1.8±0.5)% and B(Ds+→η′ρ+)=(5.8±1.4±0.4)% where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, we estimate an upper limit on the non-resonant branching ratio B(Ds+→η′π+π0)

Abstract

Using the data sets taken at center-of-mass energies above 4 GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we search for the reaction e+e−→γISRX(3872)→γISRπ+π−J/ψ via the Initial State Radiation technique. The production of a resonance with quantum numbers JPC=1++ such as the X(3872) via single photon e+e− annihilation is forbidden, but is allowed by a next-to-leading order box diagram. We do not observe a significant signal of X(3872), and therefore give an upper limit for the electronic width times the branching fraction ΓeeX(3872)B(X(3872)→π+π−J/ψ)

Abstract

We report a measurement of the parameter yCP in D0–D¯0 oscillations performed by taking advantage of quantum coherence between pairs of D0D¯0 mesons produced in e+e− annihilations near threshold. In this work, doubly-tagged D0D¯0 events, where one D decays to a CP eigenstate and the other D decays in a semileptonic mode, are reconstructed using a data sample of 2.92 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of s=3.773 GeV. We obtain yCP=(−2.0±1.3±0.7)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This result is compatible with the current world average. Abstract

Wire-Cell is a 3D event reconstruction package for liquid argon time projection chambers. Through geometry, time, and drifted charge from multiple readout wire planes, 3D space points with associated charge are reconstructed prior to the pattern recognition stage. Pattern recognition techniques, including track trajectory and dQ/dx (ionization charge per unit length) fitting, 3D neutrino vertex fitting, track and shower separation, particle-level clustering, and particle identification are then applied on these 3D space points as well as the original 2D projection measurements. A deep neural network is developed to enhance the reconstruction of the neutrino interaction vertex. Compared to traditional algorithms, the deep neural network boosts the vertex efficiency by a relative 30% for charged-current νe interactions. This pattern recognition achieves 80–90% reconstruction efficiencies for primary leptons, after a 65.8% (72.9%) vertex efficiency for charged-current νe (νμ) interactions. Based on the resulting reconstructed particles and their kinematics, we also achieve 15-20% energy reconstruction resolutions for charged-current neutrino interactions.

Abstract

This article presents the reconstruction of the electromagnetic activity from electrons and photons (showers) used in the MicroBooNE deep learning-based low energy electron search. The reconstruction algorithm uses a combination of traditional and deep learning-based techniques to estimate shower energies. We validate these predictions using two $\nu_{\mu}$-sourced data samples: charged/neutral current interactions with final state neutral pions and charged current interactions in which the muon stops and decays within the detector producing a Michel electron. Both the neutral pion sample and Michel electron sample demonstrate agreement between data and simulation. Further, the absolute shower energy scale is shown to be consistent with the relevant physical constant of each sample: the neutral pion mass peak and the Michel energy cutoff., Comment: 27 pages; matches published version

Abstract

Highly dispersed Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) with different size were synthesized successfully on the surface of reduced graphene oxide (RGO), the binary AuNPs/RGO nanocomposites with smaller size (4 nm) show higher activity for photocatalytic hydrogen production and reaches a high H2 production rate of 2.1 mmol h‐1g‐1. Abstract

We study D 0 D ¯ 0 pairs produced in e + e − collisions at s = 3.773 GeV using a data sample of 2.92 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector. We measured the asymmetry A K π CP of the branching fractions of D → K − π + in CP-odd and CP-even eigenstates to be ( 12.7 ± 1.3 ± 0.7 ) × 10 − 2 . A K π CP can be used to extract the strong phase difference δ K π between the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed process D ¯ 0 → K − π + and the Cabibbo-favored process D 0 → K − π + . Using world-average values of external parameters, we obtain cos δ K π = 1.02 ± 0.11 ± 0.06 ± 0.01 . Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third uncertainty arises from the external parameters. This is the most precise measurement of δ K π to date.

Abstract

The abrasive wear performance of high-strength steels was evaluated by two kinds of designed laboratory test methods, i.e. the sliding abrasion test and the stirring wear test. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were utilized to observe the worn surfaces, microstructures and inclusions. The tested results show that the feeding of a small amount (1.5 kg/t) of Ca–Mg–RE–Zr (RE, Rare Earth) composite cored wire replacing 0.31 (wt%) expensive Ni in the steels resulted in better mechanical properties and much better abrasive wear performance, which was attributed to the modification of inclusions and improvement of impact toughness by the addition of Ca–Mg–RE–Zr composite cored wire. Microcutting, microploughing and scratching were the main wear mechanisms in abrasive wear tests. The abrasive loss of high-strength steels was larger in the wet wear condition than that in the dry wear condition in the sliding abrasion test, which was caused by the increasing corrosion wear and reducing debris accumulation.

Abstract

GaN-based InGaN/GaN multi-quantum-well light emitting diode (MQW LED) structures were grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition method. The optical properties of the LED structure have been investigated by using the photoluminescence and electroluminescence measurement. Both photoluminescence and electroluminescence results indicate that near pure InN clusters exist within the InGaN layers, which are responsible for the light emission in the LED. With increasing the Mg activation temperature of p-GaN layer, the optical properties of the LED structure tended to significantly degrade. This degradation was found to be deeply related to the variation of InN clusters in the active region. By the current–voltage measurement, a large forward voltage variation was observed. The voltage variation is caused to the conductivity variation of the p-GaN layer due to the different activation temperature. The turn-on voltage obtained from the best LED was 2.56 V and the forward voltage measured at 20 mA was 3.5 V. On the basis of these results, activation of the Mg-doped p-GaN layer must be carried out at the lowest possible value so as to obtain the better performance of LEDs.

Generally, this model can provide guidance for designing operation condition of the SMB system.

This rationalization has not only resulted in the T&C industry of the territory being able to secure competitive advantage in order to gain market share, but also to maintain survival under the rapid changing and competitive global marketplace. The process of integration has further accelerated and deepened after the 1990s with significant changes in the industry structure, production output, trade performance and investments taking place. There are significant opportunities for further strengthening the competitiveness in the T&C industry at both regional and international levels for the Greater China region involving the development of synergistic and complementary effects. These effects will be specially important in the product categories and other related activities across the textile production pipeline in the region. These changes are considered necessary as a response to the challenges and opportunities arising from increasingly liberalized T&C trade and increasing competition in the global market.

Abstract

Synthesis of thin film composite (TFC) nanofiltration (NF) membrane has experienced tremendous development since the concept of interfacial polymerisation (IP) was first introduced. One of its new application is on the separation of xylose from glucose in biomass hydrolysate. In this present study, NF TFC membrane has been produced through interfacial polymerisation by manipulation the concentration of triethanolamine (TEOA) at 35 min reaction time with 0.15 % w/v of trimesoyl chloride (TMC). The membrane was then characterised in term of their chemical and physical properties, and separation performance between xylose and glucose. The growth of thin layer film depends on concentration of TEOA as the monomer and reaction time. As concentration of TEOA and reaction time increased, the layer of the TFC becomes thicker thus decreases the permeability of the membrane. Contradicted to this study, the lowest and the highest permeability were recorded at 4 % w/v of TEOA and 8 % w/v of TEOA at reaction time of 35-min in TMC. The TFC membrane prepared with 4 % w/v TEOA has high in permeate flux, resultant in high xylose separation of 1.3. Low permeate flux but moderate xylose separation factor of 0.93 was obtained for the TFC membrane prepared with 8 % w/v TEOA.
