Over five decades, Information Technology and Libraries (and its predecessor, the Journal of Library Automation) has influenced research and practice in the library and information science technology. The article presents the discussion on judging to ‘be of a satisfactory degree of accuracy' while estimating body fat. This exploratory study focuses on understanding the thematic trends and changes in 1,078 articles published in Human Service Organizations: Management, Leadership, and Governance (HSO) journal. Structural Topic Model (STM) was used to examine how topics have changed over time. Fifteen topics were uncovered, and the most widely studied topic in HSO's 40-year history was gender-related issues. The results show that the prevalence of topics varied over time. While some topics (e.g., "Performance and measurement," "Relationship with the market and public sector," "Planning, implementation, and feedback," and "Social work education") showed decreasing trends, others (e.g., "Network and collaboration," "Board and executive," "Program and evidence," and "Supervision and team") showed increasing trends. This study can contribute to reviewing the past social work management research and may help suggest some projections or directions for managers and researchers in human service organizations. Editor's note : From its first issue in 1900 through to the present day, AJN has unparalleled archives detailing nurses' work and lives over more than a century. These articles not only chronicle nursing's growth as a profession within the context of the events of the day, but also reveal prevailing societal attitudes about women, health care, and human rights. Today's nursing school curricula rarely include nursing's history, but it's a history worth knowing. To this end, From the AJN Archives highlights articles selected to fit today's topics and times. In August 1961, the incidence of polio was rising in and around Syracuse, New York, and oral polio vaccine had just been made available. In this article from AJN 's May 1962 issue, Syracuse Department of Health director of nursing Alyce Rooney details the rapid planning that resulted in the administration of more than 400,000 polio vaccines over a period of just three days. In an incredible effort over less than two weeks, vaccine was obtained and repackaged, vaccination sites were secured, staff assignments were made, and the vaccines were given. After a high of 46 Syracuse-area polio cases in August, the number dropped to 18 in September and none in October. More than 50 years later, vaccine hesitancy has become a roadblock to today's vaccination campaigns. Since the 1980s, a growing body of scholarship suggests that societal concerns and management of risk have become a central feature of modernising societies. Most prominently Ulrich Beck has asserted that modern societies were increasingly confronted with the side-effects of social progress challenging the modern machinery, such as science and insurance, to manage risk. Since this early focus on technological advancement and environmental degeneration, there have been little systematic empirical analyses of the forces that drove the proliferation of risk in the public sphere. Following suggestions by Luhmann, among others, that the risk semantic is central to modernisation and Skolbekken's description that since 1945 medical journals have experienced a 'risk epidemic', this article examines the developments and events responsible for the social proliferation of health risk. In particular, I utilise The Times corpus (1790–2009) provided by the Corpus Approaches to Social Sciences research centre at Lancaster University, and the corpus linguistics tool CQPweb, for a detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of language in its social contexts. I argue that the occurrence and increasingly widespread use of the 'at risk'-expression indicate a transformation of public consciousness related to a growing social prominence of health and well-being, the normalisation of rational management of health, and the definition of social reality by its 'at risk'-status. In reviewing the past thirty years of publishing the Journal, one can see three phases: Phase 1 took pace during the first decade (1989–1997), Phase 2 covered the next decade and a half or so (1998–2015), and Phase 3 reflects the past five years, a period of continuing growth and success (2016-Present). Despite its inevitable challenges, the Journal of Aging & Social Policy overcame each and has arrived. Today, it is a well-respected Journal that attracts excellent scholarship from around the world, that is well-cited, and that has earned the Journal a commendable impact factor. The editors are proud of that evolution. However, success is never final. The Journal will require continued effective stewardship as it looks to the next thirty years and beyond.
