Ovaj diplomski rad obrađuje tematiku medijske reprezentacije analitičke kategorije Žena Srebrenice, kao primjera “podređene” povijesno-društvene skupine. Istraživanje sekundarne građe u obliku naslova medijskih članaka i naslovnih fotografija je inspirirano radom postkolonijalne teoretičarke Gayatri Spivak i nadopunjeno teorijom iz antropologijom medija, vizualnom antropologijom, antropologijom genocida te srodnim poddisciplinama društvenih i političkih znanosti koje mogu ponuditi tumačenje fenomena poput stereotipizacije, reprezentacije Drugih i senzacionalizma, ali i ukazati na važnost etičkog medijskog izvještavanja te institucionalizacije memorijalizacije. Okosnicu istraživanja čini 56 odabranih članaka objavljenih od strane četiri popularne medijske kuće u Hrvatskoj kroz period od deset godina kako bi se lakše uočili potencijalni trendovi s obzirom na datume i povode objavljivanja članaka, učestalih sintagmi korištenih u naslovima, ali i iskazanih emocija, razine agencije i osobnog identiteta žena prikazanih na naslovnim fotografijama te lokacije na Kojima su iste snimljene. S obzirom na vizualni karakter proučavanog predmeta, rad je prožet ilustrativnim primjerima radi lakšeg razumijevanja. Preliminarni rezultati analize objavljeni su u obliku grupne izložbe kako bi se šira javnost upoznala s problematikom prezentacije Žena Srebrenice u hrvatskim medijima, dok se latentno ukazalo na kreativni potencijal u antropološkom radu. This paper is focused on media representation of an analytical category of Women of Srebrenica as an example of a “subaltern” socio-historical group. Research of secondary sources in the form of article titles and corresponding featured photographs was inspired by the work of post-colonial theorist Gayatri Spivak, and then further developed with the help of theories such as anthropology of media, visual anthropology, anthropology of genocide, and other similar disciplines in the field of social and political science that could provide explanation on the phenomenon of stereotyping, representation of Others, and sensationalism. Those theories were also used to showcase the importance of ethical journalism, and the institutionalization of memorialization. Research was conducted on the sample of 56 articles published by four different Croatian media houses in the time frame of ten years to find out potential trends considering the publishing dates, motives for publishing, and frequently used phrases in the titles, while also paying attention to emotions, agency, and personal identity of Women of Srebrenica, and location in featured photographs. Considering the visual analysis element of this research, it was proper to use illustrative example for easier understanding of the subject. Preliminary results of this research were published as a part of joined gallery exhibit to introduce to the public the problem of presentation of Women of Srebrenica in Croatian media, while simultaneously showing the creative potential of anthropological work.

Bihevioralna ekonomija je znanstvena disciplina koja se bavi kognitivnim procesima te nastoji odgovoriti na pitanje na koji način heuristike, osjećaji i društvene norme utječu na donošenje (ekonomskih) odluka. Jedan od društvenih fenomena kojim se bavi bihevioralna ekonomija je pitanje poštenja te jedan od načina na koji se testiraju osobne pretpostavke poštenosti je putem tzv. „igre ultimatuma“ gdje osoba A predlaže podjelu određene količine resursa, dok osoba B može tu podjelu prihvatiti ili ne te tzv. „igre diktatora“ u kojoj osoba A predlaže podjelu koju osoba B ne može odbiti. S druge strane, u svojoj knjizi Burić i Štulhofer (2020) pozivajući se na raniji rad Josipa Županova definiraju egalitarni sindrom kao sklop društvenih vrijednosti (poput anti-intelektualizma, anti-profesionalizma, anti-poduzetništva te nesklonosti inovacijama) koje se temelje na pretpostavkama radikalnog egalitarizma. U ovom diplomskom radu cilj je bio utvrditi koji bi nam bihevioralno-ekonomski uvidi mogli pomoći u istraživanju egalitarnog sindroma te je provedeno kratko eksplorativno istraživanje koje se temelji na kombinaciji ankete i online kvazi eksperimenta uz pomoć programa LIONESS Lab (Giamattei et al., 2020). Behavioural economics is a scientific discipline that deals with cognitive processes and tries to answer the question of how heuristics, feelings, and social norms influence (economic) decision-making. One of the social phenomena that behavioural economics deals with is the issue of fairness. One of the ways in which personal assumptions of fairness are tested is through the so-called "ultimatum games" where person A proposes to share a certain amount of resources, while person B can accept that sharing or not, and the so-called "dictator games" in which person A proposes a division that person B cannot refuse. On the other hand, in their book Burić and Štulhofer (2020), referring to the earlier work of Josip Županov, define the egalitarian syndrome as a set of social values (such as anti-intellectualism, anti-professionalism, anti-entrepreneurship and aversion to innovation) that are based on the assumptions of radical egalitarianism. This thesis aims to determine which behavioural-economic insights can help us research the egalitarian syndrome. A short exploratory research based on a combination of a survey and an online quasi-experiment was also conducted with the help of the LIONESS Lab program (Giamattei et al., 2020).

Medvednica je planina, dio grada Zagreba i Park prirode, stoga je njezin identitet višeznačan i oblikovan različitim društvenim praksama među kojima je i planinarenje. Na temelju etnografskog istraživanja i analize časopisa Hrvatski planinar, ovaj rad ispituje načine na koje planinari pridaju značenja fizičkom prostoru planine pretvarajući je u simboličko mjesto. Razumijevajući praksu planinarenja kao proces stvaranja značenja i koristeći teorije osjetilne antropologije i antropologije prostora i mjesta, kroz rad se interpretiraju načini ostvarivanja tog procesa, značenja koja on generira i njegova uloga u kulturnom krajoliku Medvednice. Svrha rada je dati kulturnoantropološki doprinos dubljem razumijevanju odnosa ljudi i Medvednice te implikacija koje taj odnos ima na prirodnu održivost ovog parka prirode. Medvednica is a mountain, part of the city of Zagreb, and a nature park; therefore, its identity is multifaceted and shaped by different social practices, among which is hiking. This thesis is based on ethnographic research and an analysis of the magazine Hrvatski Planinar. It examines the ways in which hikers attach meanings to the physical space of the mountain, turning it into a symbolic place. Understanding the practice of hiking as a meaning-making process and using theories of sensory anthropology and anthropology of space and place, this thesis interprets the ways this process is realized, the meaning it generates, and its role in the cultural landscape of Medvednica. The research objective is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the relationship between people and Medvednica and its implications for the natural sustainability of this nature park from the perspective of cultural anthropology.

U ovome preglednom radu analizirano je iskorištavanje vodenih prehrambenih resursa, s naglaskom na gornjopaleolitički Mediteran i sjevernu Španjolsku. Analizom relevantne literature utvrđeno je da su vodeni mekušci, odnosno školjkaši i puževi, najčešći ostaci beskralješnjaka na arheološkim nalazištima. Posebno se ističu priljepak (Patella vulgata), ogrc (Osilinus turbinatus) te Mytilus galloprovincialis, odnosno mediteranska dagnja. Kosti riba, vodenih ptica i vodenih sisavaca te ježinci i rakovi prisutni su u manjem broju. Nadalje, dok je u srednjem paleolitiku neandertalcima najčešći izvor proteina bio veliki kopneni plijen, u gornjem paleolitiku su se lovci skupljači okrenuli i manjem plijenu, odnosno više su jeli morske mekušce i ostale morske životinje. Dok je u prošlosti antropološke teorije prevladavalo mišljenje da su hominini u prapovijesti smatrali vodene prehrambene resurse nedovoljno produktivnim i čak odbojnim, u novije vrijeme, pomoću dokaza s terena, pokazalo se da je uloga vodenih prehrambenih resursa ipak mogla biti važnija. The topic of this review paper is the usage of consumable water resources. The focus is especially on the Upper Paleolithic Mediterranean and Northern Spain. Using relevant literature, it has been proven that marine molluscs, especially shellfish, are the most abundant remains of invertebrates on archaeological sites. This is especially true of the limpet Patella vulgata, the turbinate monodont Osilinus turbinatus and the Mediterranean mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis. Bones of fish, marine mammals and waterfowl are less abundant, alongside with the remains of sea urchins and crabs. While in the Middle Paleolithic Neanderthals consumed mostly terrestrial big game, in the Upper Paleolithic hunter-gatherers also hunted small game, i.e., they consumed more often marine molluscs and other marine animals. In anthropological theory, in the past, the prevailing opinion was that hominins in prehistory thought very little of consumable water resources, labeling them as unproductive and even shunned them. However, in modern times, using evidence from fieldwork, it has been shown that the role of consumable water resources might have been more important than previously thought.

Ovaj rad se temelji na proučavanju položaja antropologije u razvoju poslovanja, istražujući pristupe primijenjene antropologije ili, točnije, poslovne antropologije i organizacijske teorije. Naglašavajući važnost rukovodećih pozicija, razmišljanja o budućnosti i pozicioniranja znanosti u tom kontekstu, stvoren je antropološki okvir koji doprinosi boljem razumijevanju procesa unutar organizacije s ciljem ukazivanja na položaj primijenjene antropologije i obogaćivanja rasprave o organizacijskoj kulturi u Hrvatskoj. Istraživanje je provedeno putem tri polustrukturirana intervjua u travnju i svibnju 2023. godine na primjeru organizacije koja djeluje u IT sektoru. Rezultati su pokazali da je prilagodba i otvorenost prema inovacijama ključna za razvoj poslovanja, što uključuje i prihvaćanje antropoloških pristupa u svrhu napretka. Također, to podrazumijeva i prilagodbu antropologije stalnim promjenama i inovacijama. This paper examines the role of anthropology in the advancement of business by exploring the concepts of applied anthropology, specifically business anthropology and organizational theory. It underscores the significance of leadership positions and future-oriented thinking, as well as the integration of science within this context. By establishing an anthropological framework, this study aims to enhance comprehension of organizational processes and shed light on the role of applied anthropology in enriching the discourse on organizational culture in Croatia. The research was conducted using three semi-structured interviews between April and May 2023, focusing on an IT sector organization as a case study. The findings revealed that adaptability and a willingness to embrace innovation are vital for business growth, necessitating the acceptance of anthropological approaches for progressive purposes. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for anthropology to adapt to ongoing changes and innovations.

Cilj je rada kvalitativan prikaz i analiza položaja gluhih osoba u javnim (trgovi, ulica, javna događanja) i „privatno-javnim“ (primjerice, ugostiteljski objekti) mjestima i prostorima u gradu Zagrebu. Kroz okvir antropologije grada, antropologije mjesta i prostora, te promišljanjem i analizom mreža društvenosti te kategorija centar – margina, nastojat će se opisati i spoznati življeno iskustvo gluhih osoba u gradu, svakodnevno korištenje i snalaženje u gradskoj infrastrukturi, te prilagođenost infrastrukture, javnih sadržaja i programa potrebama i mogućnostima gluhih osoba. Istraživalo se kakva razmišljanja gluhe osobe imaju o kulturi Gluhih i o pravnom, kulturnom i društvenom položaju Gluhih. Korišteni su: istraživačka tehnika promatranja (sa sudjelovanjem), upitnik te metoda autoetnografije. The aim of the thesis is to discuss the position of deaf people in public (squares, streets, public events) and "private-public" (for example, catering establishments) places in the city of Zagreb. By using insights from urban anthropology and the anthropology of place and space, and by employing the center – margin model, I will try to describe and understand the lived experience of deaf people in the city of Zagreb. The thesis will explore the suitability of the city's infrastructure to the needs and possibilities of deaf people. It was investigated what thoughts deaf people have about Deaf culture and about the legal, cultural, and social position of Deaf people. The research technique of observation (with participation), a questionnaire, and the method of autoethnography was used.

Temeljna funkcija forenzičke antropologije je utvrđivanje identiteta ljudskih koštanih ostataka nepoznatog podrijetla, što podrazumijeva procjenu dobi, određivanje spola, visine i populacijske pripadnosti, kao i dokumentaciju ante, peri i postmortem trauma te patoloških promjena. Procjena populacijske pripadnosti smatra se jednim od najzahtjevnijih aspekata biološkog profila, u prvom redu zbog kompleksne veze između skeletne morfologije i društvenih konstukata. Metode koje se danas koriste u procjeni etničke pripadnosti oslanjaju se na vezu između skeletne morfologije, geografskog podrijetla i društvene “rase“ pojedinca. Premda postoje opravdani razlozi za prestanak upotrebe određenih zastarjelih metoda u procjeni etničke pripadnosti, pojedini ih istraživači koriste i dalje. Pokušaj da se poboljša metodologija unutar koje se analiziraju podaci zahtijeva validaciju i ponovnu procjenu svake dostupne metode uz razvoj novih pristupa koji koriste moderna tehnološka dostignuća. Danas je dostupan niz računalnih programa dizajniranih za pomoć u procjeni etničke pripadnosti. Budućnost procjene populacijske pripadnosti trebala bi se usmjeriti na napuštanje upotrebe Hootonovog Harvardskog popisa, odbijanje klasifikacije u samo tri moguće grupe (u slučaju SAD-a), uspostavljanje većih i reprezentativnijih referentnih uzoraka, validaciju upotrebe kombiniranih metoda umjesto samo jedne te razvoj novih statističkih pristupa uz ažuriranje trenutnih statističkih alata. The fundamental function of forensic anthropology is to establish the identity of unidentified skeletal remains of unknown origin, which includes the estimation of age, assessment of sex, height, and ancestry, as well as the documentation of ante, peri and postmortem trauma and pathological changes. Ancestry assessment is considered one of the most demanding aspects of biological profiling, primarily due to the complex relationship between skeletal morphology and social constructs. The methods used today to assess ancestry rely on the link between skeletal morphology, geographic origin and the social "race" of the individual. Although there are legitimate reasons for discontinuing the use of certain outdated methods in the assessment of ancestry, some researchers continue to use them. Attempt to improve the methodology within which the data is analyzed requires validation and re-evaluation of each available method while developing new approaches that use modern technological advances. A number of computer programs are available today, and are designed to assist in the assessment of ancestry. The future of ancestry assessment should focus on abandoning the use of Hooton's Harvard list, rejecting classification into only three possible groups (in the case of the USA), establishing larger and older representative reference samples, validating the use of combined methods instead of just one, and developing new statistical approaches, and updating current statistical tools.

Ovaj rad sadrži pregled nekih istraživanja karijesa i malokluziija kroz povijest te ih uspoređuje s novijim podacima koje su prikupile svjetske organizacije. Pokazalo se da ove oralne bolesti bilježe porast posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća, što se dovodi u vezu s promjenom ljudske prehrane koja sadrži veći unos ugljikohidrata i šećera, kao i s mnogim društvenim navikama. Rad se osvrnuo i na temporomandibularne poremećaje, koji mogu biti u vezi s malokluzijama. Iako se učestalost ovih bolesti smanjuje, na globalnoj razini ona je i dalje velika i stvara velik problem za zdravstveni sustav. Da bi se učestalost smanjila, potrebno je osigurati obrazovanje o pravilnoj oralnoj higijeni, bolju zdravstvenu skrb, mijenjati društvene navike i podignuti osviještenost o ovim bolestima koje loše utječu na kvalitetu čovjekova života. This thesis contains an overview of some research papers od dental caries and malocclusion throughout history and compares them with more recent data collected by international organizations. It has been shown that these oral diseases have been on the rise in the last few decades, which is linked to a change in the human diet that contains more carbohydrates and sugar, as well as to many social habits. The paper also focused on temporomandibular disorders, which may be related to malocclusions. Although the frequency of these diseases is decreasing, at the global level it is still high and creates a big problem for the health system. In order to reduce the frequency, it is necessary to provide education on proper oral hygiene, better health care, change social habits and raise awareness about these diseases that have a bad effect on the quality of a person's life.

Cilj ovog rada bio je analizirati ulogu i značaj crtanja formi u waldorfskoj školi u kontekstu pripreme djece za nastavu pisanja i čitanja te razvoj životnih kompetencija. Istraživanjem putem intervjua, sudjelovanja i promatranja razreda u waldorfskoj školi u Zagrebu, prikazano je kako i zašto se odvija predmet crtanja formi u svakom pojedinom razredu od prvog do četvrtog te kako se forme protežu kroz peti razred. Iz analize možemo zaključiti da su forme korištene u epohi formi ili direktni prikaz nekih starih arhaičnih forma ili su inspirirane umjetnošću nekog starog doba. Načini vježbanja koji prethode crtanju same forme uvijek su iskustveni, tjelesni te omogućavaju djetetu doživljaj zadanog kroz više osjetila. Svi sudionici uvelike su naglašavali važnost i značaj epohe formi za razvoj djece i njihovih životnih vještina. Svaki sudionik imao je svoj način rada, svoj raspored i svoje preferencije u načinu vježbe i izboru formi koje je donosio pred djecu u razred. Svi ispitanici epohe formi provode jer vjeruju u značaj njenog provođenja i benefite koje imaju za razvoj djece. The goal of this research was to show the role and significance that Waldorf education form drawing has in the preparation of students for developing writing and reading skills, as well as life competences. By interviewing the teachers and participating and observing form drawing teaching in the Waldorf School in Zagreb, the research showed how and why form drawing teaching is performed in the first four school years, as well as how form drawing is incorporated in the fifth year. The analysis showed that forms used in form drawing teaching were either a direct representation of certain archaic forms or inspired by art from ancient cultures. The methods of practicing the form, which precede the drawing, are always experiential and physical. Thus, the child can experience the form through multiple senses. All participants emphasized the importance of form drawing in the development of children and their life skills. Each participant showed their own teaching methods, schedule and preferences in choosing different forms and ways of practicing them. All participants perform form drawing in their classrooms because they believe in its significance and benefits for children.

Ljudi u svim kulturama imaju određene percepcije o karakteristikama ličnosti tipičnog pripadnika neke kulture i iako se kultura često u istraživanjima operacionalizira korištenjem nacionalnih granica, ona može postojati unutar različitih geografskih cjelina, kao što je na primjer regija. Sklonost opisivanja grupa ljudi kao da imaju poseban skup osobina ličnosti zapravo je stereotipiziranje i iako stereotipi nisu nužno emocionalni, ovisno o sadržaju, oni ponekad mogu služiti kao opravdanje za predrasude što nadalje može dovesti do diskriminacije. Cilj provedenog istraživanja bio je identificirati stereotipe o osobinama ličnosti ljudi koji žive u Dalmaciji, Istri, Međimurju, Slavoniji i gradu Zagrebu putem HEXACO modela ličnosti, a dobiveni rezultati prikazuju da su stanovnici Dalmacije i Istre percipirani niže na ljestvici iskrenosti-poštenja za razliku od stanovnika Slavonije i Međimurja, te da Zagrepčani posjeduju visoku razinu anksioznosti, ali i intelektualne radoznalosti u odnosu na ostale regije. People in all cultures have certain perceptions about the personality characteristics of a typical member of a culture, and although culture is often operationalized in research using national boundaries, it can exist within different geographic units, such as a region. The tendency to describe a group of people as having a particular set of personality traits is stereotyping and although stereotypes are not necessarily emotional, depending on the content, they can sometimes serve as justification for prejudice which can further lead to discrimination. The aim of the research was to identify stereotypes about the personality traits of people living in Dalmatia, Istria, Međimurje, Slavonia and the city of Zagreb using the HEXACO personality model, and the results show that the residents of Dalmatia and Istria are perceived to be lower on the scale of honesty-humility in contrast to residents of Slavonija and Međimurje, and that the people of Zagreb possess a high level of anxiety, but also intellectual curiosity compared to the other regions.

Ovaj diplomski rad bavi se temom međugeneracijskog etničkog neprijateljstva na području sela karlovačkog Pokuplja, odnosno međuetničkim odnosima u hrvatskim i srpskim selima na području Lasinje. U radu će se propitati razlozi nastanka etničkog neprijateljstva, a posljedično i nasilja između etničkih skupina i sela koja se kategoriziraju kao „hrvatska“ ili „srpska“. Pokazat će se važnost pamćenja i sadržaja pripovijedanih, naslijeđenih i novostvorenih sjećanja na prethodno iskustvo nasilja. Također, na lokalnom će se primjeru prikazati načini na koje se provodila etnizacija stanovništva. Prvim ubojstvom civila u Lasinji, u vremenu kad na tom području još nije započeo ratni sukob, lokalna zajednica počinje pridavati sve veću važnosti etničkoj kategorizaciji „neprijatelja“. Takvi specifični lokalni uvjeti odigrali su ključnu ulogu u širenju veza između etničke pripadnosti i političkog identiteta u svakodnevne aspekte života, stvarajući „amoralnu zajednicu“. U tom se smislu nasilje unutar lokalne zajednice promatra i kao generativna sila etnizacije stanovništva. This thesis deals with the topic of intergenerational ethnic hostility in the area of the Karlovac Pokuplje villages, i.e. interethnic relations in Croatian and Serbian villages in the area of Lasinja. The paper will examine the reasons for the emergence of ethnic enmity and, consequently, violence between ethnic groups and villages that are categorized as "Croatian" or "Serbian". The paper will demonstrate the importance of memory and the content of narrated, inherited and newly created memories of the previous experience of violence. Also, the local example will show the ways in which the process of ethnicization was carried out. With the first killing of civil in Lasinja, at a time when the war had not yet begun in that area, the local community began to attach increasing importance to the ethnic categorization of the "enemy". It will be shown that such specific local conditions played a key role in expanding the links between ethnicity and political identity into everyday aspects of life in the local community, creating an "amoral communities" in which violence against civilians by a presumed ethnic enemy had the tacit or active support of the local community. Finally, violence can be seen as a generative force of ethnicization.

U ovom radu riječ je o spolnom dimorfizmu tvrdih tkiva kraniofacijalnog sustava. Određivanje dobi na skeletnim ostacima od velike je važnosti u forenzici, antropologiji, te arheologiji. Prilikom određivanja spolnog dimorfizam potrebno je napraviti razliku između spola i roda. Određivanje spolnog dimorfizam isključivo se odnosi na spol koji je biološki određen, dok je rod sociološki određen. Kost lubanje, nakon zdjelice, smatra se najboljim čimbenikom za određivanje spola radi boljeg zadržavanja morfoloških obilježja. Različite populacije imaju različite karakteristike kostura, zbog čega je analiza specifične populacije za određivanje spola neophodna. Određivanje spola promatrajući lubanju može dovesti do 90% sigurnosti kojeg spola je osoba. Postoji nekoliko područja na lubanji koja su ključna kada se određuje spola. Ključna područja su nuhalna linija, mastoidni proces, supraorbitale, mandibula, glabela, te protuberantia mentalis. Nakon što se odredi spol osobe, proces određivanja dobi i tjelesne visine lakši je za odrediti. Također, područje koje doprinosi određivanje spola na lubanji je humana denticija. U humanoj denticiji spolni dimorfizam očituje se u dimenzijama i morfologiji zubi, obrascima razvoja i nicanja zubi, te ekspresiji proteina amelogenina u caklini zuba. Također, spolni dimorfizam može se očitati i u anomaliji broja zuba. This research paper analyzes the sexual dimorphism of the hard tissues in the craniofacial system. The accurate determination of the age of skeletal remains is crucial in fields such as forensic science, anthropology, and archaeology. When determining sexual dimorphism, it is necessary to make a distinction between sex and gender. Determination of sexual dimorphism exclusively refers to sex, which is biologically determined, while gender is sociologically determined. The skull, after the pelvis, is considered to be the best indicator of the sex of the remains due to the preservation of morphological characteristics. It is important to study a specific population to determine the sex of an individual, as different populations have varying skeletal characteristics. The determination of sex through examination of the skull can result in a 90% certainty of the results. Several key areas of the skull play a crucial role in determining the gender, including the nuchal line, mastoid process, supraorbitals, mandible, glabella, and mental protuberance. Once the sex of an individual is established, it becomes easier to determine their age and height. Also, the area of the skull that contributes to gender determination is the human dentition. In human dentition, sexual dimorphism is manifested in the dimensions and morphology of teeth, patterns of tooth development and eruption, and expression of the protein amelogenin in tooth enamel. Also, sexual dimorphism can be read in the anomaly of the number of teeth.

Osobni ornamenti predstavljaju jedan od najranijih tragova simboličnog ponašanja, a time i kognitivnog razvoja. Ova vrsta nalaza često se smatra nekom vrstom komunikacijske tehnologije, a prema nekima i pokazateljem akvizicije jezika. Grupu najranijih osobnih ornamenata povezanih s anatomski modernim čovjekom čine perforirane ljušture školjaka i pužića. Što se tiče neandertalaca, dugo se smatralo kako njihova kognicija nije ravna onoj anatomski modernih ljudi no nalazi osobnih ornamenata govore suprotno. Ornamenti načinjeni od kandži orla pronađeni su na širokom geografskom području na nalazištima povezanim s neandertalcima te su se zadržali u širokom vremenskom periodu. Personal ornaments represent one of the earliest traces of symbolic behaviour, and as such of cognitive development. These objects are often considered a form of communication technology, and according to some, an indicator of language acquisition. The group of earliest personal ornaments associated with anatomically modern human consists of perforated shells. As for Neanderthals, it was long believed that their cognition was not equal to that of anatomically modern humans, but findings of personal ornaments suggest the opposite. Ornaments made of raptor talons have been found over a wide geographical area, at sites associated with Neanderthals, and have been used over a wide time span.

Ovaj rad uključuje pregled paleopatoloških tragova na paleoantropološkim nalazima iz špilja sjeverne Španjolske te ukazuje kako pomoću njih možemo proučavati traženo ponašanje i brigu. Nalazi lokaliteta Atapuerca odabrani su zbog mnogobrojnosti nalaza, njihove važnosti kao skupine arheoloških lokaliteta te kao jedna od najbitnijih regija za proučavanje evolucije, ali i paleopatoloških nalaza. Paleopatologija je disciplina koja proučava tragove bolesti, trauma i kongenitalnih anomalija na koštanom tkivu. Tragovi periodontalnih bolesti na dentalnim nalazima s ovih lokaliteta daju podatke o svakodnevnom životu i prehrani te potencijalnoj brizi zajednice o oboljelim individuama. Kongenitalni slučajevi daju uvid u ponašanje hominina, njihovo suosjećanje, brigu i prihvaćanje svih članova grupe. Ipak, slučajevi nasilja ukazuju na nasilne interakcije. Zaključno, paleopatologija je neophodna za interdisciplinarno proučavanje arheologije, antropologije, medicine, ponašanja i drugih disciplina te razumijevanje populacija u prošlosti, kao i u sadašnjosti. This paper includes a review of paleopathological traces on paleoanthropological finds from caves in northern Spain and how we can detect the behaviour in question and care. Finds of the Sierra de Atapuerca site were chosen because of the abundance of finds, significance as a cluster of archaeological sites and as one of the most important regions for studying evolution and paleopathology. Paleopathology is a discipline that studies traces of disease, trauma and congenital anomalies on bone tissue. Periodontal disease on dental finds provide data about the everyday life, diet and potential care of diseased individuals. Congenial cases show the behaviour of hominins, their compassion, care and acceptance of all group members. Although, the cases of violence indicate violent interactions. In conclusion, paleopathology is necessary for the interdisciplinary research of archaeology, anthropology, medicine, behaviour and other disciplines and comprehension of populations in the past, as much as the present.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija definira zdravstveni sustav koji dobro funkcionira kao onaj koji radi u harmoniji, izgrađen na obrazovanim i motiviranim zdravstvenim radnicima, dobro održavanoj infrastrukturi i pouzdanoj opskrbi lijekovima i tehnologijama, potpomognut odgovarajućim financiranjem, snažnim zdravstvenim planovima i politikama utemeljenim na dokazima. Sustavi zdravstvene skrbi razlikuju se od nacije do nacije ovisno o razini ekonomskog razvoja i postojećem političkom sustavu. Zdravstvena zaštita je prioritet i izvor zabrinutosti u cijelom svijetu. Svaka zemlja, bez obzira na privatni, javni ili mješoviti sustav zdravstvene skrbi, suočava se s izazovima u pogledu kvalitete, isporuke i cijene usluga. Cilj ovog rada je promotriti pokazatelje zdravstvenog sustava Hrvatske i Norveške. Promatrani su očekivani životni vijek, glavni uzroci smrtnosti, učestalost i smrtnost od raka, mentalno zdravlje, kronične bolesti, prehrana i tjelesna težina, pušenje, uporaba alkohola i tjelesna aktivnost. Norveška ima bolje pokazatelje u gotovo svim kategorijama u odnosu na Hrvatsku, osim u učestalosti mentalnih oboljenja. Razlozi leže u većem financiranju zdravstvenog sustava i ulaganjima u zdravstvenu infrastrukturu i ljudske resurse, a također je neosporan i utjecaj pozitivnih zdravstvenih navika norveškog stanovništva kada su u pitanju čimbenici rizika koji posljedično mogu imati negativne utjecaje na zdravlje. Hrvatska od Norveške može naučiti i preuzeti brojne lekcije o organizaciji učinkovitijeg zdravstvenog sustava. The World Health Organization defines a well-functioning health system as one working in harmony, built on having trained and motivated health workers, a well-maintained infrastructure, and a reliable supply of medicines and technologies, backed by adequate funding, strong health plans and evidence-based policies. Healthcare systems vary from nation to nation depending on the level of economic development and the existing political system. Healthcare is a priority and a source of concern throughout the world. Every country, regardless of whether it has a private, public or mixed healthcare system, faces challenges in terms of quality, delivery and cost of services. The aim of this thesis is to examine the indicators of the healthcare system in Croatia and Norway. Life expectancy, main causes of mortality, incidence and mortality from cancer, mental health, chronic diseases, nutrition and body weight, smoking, alcohol consumption and physical activity were observed. Norway has better indicators in almost all categories compared to Croatia, except for the incidence of mental illnesses. The reasons lie in greater financing of the healthcare system and investments in health infrastructure and human resources, as well as the influence of the positive health habits of the Norwegian population when it comes to risk factors that can consequently have a negative impact on health. Croatia can learn and take many lessons from Norway about the organization of a more efficient healthcare system.

Rad se bavi antropološkom teorijom kulturnog materijalizma u radu Marvina Harrisa koji je ujedno i idejni začetnik teorije. Kulturni materijalizam je antropološka teorija ili pravac koji nalaže da je ljudska kultura uvjetovana promjenama u okolišu, odnosno materijalnom okruženju u kojem ljudi žive. Marvin Harris osmislio je kulturni materijalizam kao pravac koji se temelji na historijskom materijalizmu, empirijskoj metodologiji i proučavanju bihevioralnih procesa. Kulturni materijalizam nalaže da se kultura sastoji od tri razine: infrastrukture, strukture i superstrukture. Infrastruktura koja je sačinjena od tzv. materijalnih stvarnosti utječe i oblikuje preostale dvije razine. Harrisov rad naišao je na kritike suvremenika koji su mu zamjerali generalizaciju i pogreške u uspostavi kauzalnosti. Unatoč nedovoljno razrađenoj teoriji u praksi, kulturni materijalizam smatra se relevantnim pristupom u polju antropologije i može se koristiti u svrhu istraživanja. Rad analizira temeljne koncepte kulturnog materijalizma te primjere istraživanja Marvina Harrisa uz kritičke osvrte Harrisovih suvremenika. The paper focuses on the anthropological theory of cultural materialism in the work of Marvin Harris, who is also the founder of the theory. Cultural materialism is an anthropological theory or direction that proposes human culture is conditioned by changes in the environment, that is, the material environment in which people live. Marvin Harris designed cultural materialism as a theory based on historical materialism, empirical methodology and the study of behavioral processes. Cultural materialism dictates that culture consists of three levels: infrastructure, structure, and superstructure. The infrastructure, which is made up of the so-called of material reality influences and shapes the remaining two levels. Harris's work was criticized by his contemporaries who blamed him for generalization and errors in establishing causality. Despite the insufficiently developed theory in practice, cultural materialism is considered a relevant approach in the field of anthropology and can be used for research purposes. The paper analyzes the fundamental concepts of cultural materialism and examples of Marvin Harris's research with critical reviews of Harris' contemporaries.

Cilj ovog rada je prikazati kako se vizualna antropologija kroz razne pristupe i poglede razvijala kao metoda. Autor pokušava pomoću analize stručne literature o teoriji vizualne antropologije otkriti što se sve događalo kroz povijest da bi došlo do ovog gdje se danas nalazi navedena poddisciplina. Fokus istraživanja je usmjeren na sljedeća pitanja; Koja je bila uloga vizualnog u antropologiji? Mogu li vizualni alati poboljšati antropologiju? Je li tehnički razvoj utjecao na vizualnoantropološki pogled? Kako se mijenjala paradigma kroz povijest i je li ona riješila pitanje Drugog? Proučavanjem kretanja vizualne antropologije kroz povijest pokušava se otkriti je li vizualna antropologija uopće bila metoda sama za sebe. This thesis examines the way in which visual anthropology has developed as a research method trough different disciplinary approaches. The author analysed the main theories from the field of visual anthropology and tried to detect what was happening trough the history of the discipline in order to explicate its current positioning and trends. The aim of this thesis is focused on the following questions: What was the role of visual in anthropology? Can visual tools improve anthropology? Did technical development influence visual anthropology? How did the paradigm change trough time and did it resolve the question of the Other? By examining the historical development of visual anthropology, an attempt is made to discover whether visual anthropology was really a method in itself.

Aplikacije za upoznavanje partnera nastale su razvojem interneta i razvojem pametnih mobitela te su u kratkom roku postale jedan od najpopularnijih načina za pronalaženje potencijalnih partnera. Odnosno traženje romantičnih partnera, izvan društvenih krugova i susjedstva, preselilo se na internet odnosno aplikacije te to tržište danas se razvilo u industriju vrijednu milijardu dolara. Identificiranje čimbenika koji mogu povećati vjerojatnost pojedinca da pronađe partnera (a time možda i dobiju djecu) od velike je važnosti i na individualnoj i na društvenoj razini. Najpoznatija aplikacija za upoznavanje potencijalnih partnera je Tinder. U radu se bavimo razlikama među spolovima na aplikacijama za upoznavanje partnera, motivima korištenja aplikacija, utjecajem obilja izbora na donošenje odluka. U empirijskom dijelu rada istraživali smo motive korištenja aplikacija, razlike među spolovima u motivima korištenja, koji spol će češće inicirati razgovore na aplikacijama za upoznavanje, zatim koji su najvažniji kriteriji pri odabiru potencijalnih partnera te povećava li si broj seksualnih odnosa upotrebom aplikacija za upoznavanje partnera. Podaci su pokazali da je najčešći razlog za korištenje aplikacije za upoznavanje stvaranje dugoročnih odnosa, muškarci će češće inicirati razgovor na aplikacijama za upoznavanje, fizički izgled je najvažniji kriterij pri odabiru partnera te upotreba aplikacija za upoznavanje više u 50% slučajeva ne poveća broj seksualnih odnosa. S obzirom na to da je uzorak specifičan i malen, teško je donositi opće zaključke, ali rad nudi podlogu za daljnja i podrobnija istraživanja na temu upoznavanja potencijalnih partnera preko interneta. Dating apps were created with the development of the Internet and the development of smart mobile phones, and in a short period of time they became one of the most popular ways to find potential partners. The search for romantic partners, outside of social circles and neighborhoods moved to the Internet and applications, and today that market has developed into an industry worth a billion dollars. Identifying factors that can increase an individual's likelihood of finding a partner (and thus possibly having children) is of great importance at both the individual and societal levels. The most popular application for meeting potential partners is Tinder. In this paper, we deal with the differences between the sexes on applications for meeting partners, the motives for using applications, the impact of the abundance of choices on decision-making. In the empirical part of the work, we investigated the motives for using applications, the differences between the sexes in the motives for use, which gender is more likely to initiate conversations on dating applications, what are the most important criteria when choosing potential partners, and was there an increased number of the of sexual relations using dating applications. The data showed that the most common reason for using a dating app is to create long-term relationships, men are more likely to initiate a conversation on dating apps, physical appearance is the most important criteria when choosing a partner, and the use of dating apps in more than 50% of cases does not increase the number of sexual relationships. Given that the sample is specific and small, it is difficult to draw general conclusions, but the paper offers a basis for further and more detailed research on the subject of meeting potential partners via the Internet.

Rad analizira građansko društvo i mehanizme njegovog funkcioniranja kroz četiri povezane cjeline: 1. povijesni prikaz nastanka građanskog društva kao organizacijskog oblika kapitalističke države; 2. ideologiju buržoaske klase kao vladajuću ideologiju građanskog društva; 3. hegemoniju buržoaske klase i fenomen srednje klase; 4. antropološku analizu reprodukcije buržoaske ideologije u svakodnevici. Cilj je prikazati kako pojedinci u svakodnevnom životu, u sferi građanskog društva i njegovih institucija, pod neosviještenim utjecajem buržoaske ideologije, reproduciraju stavove i obrasce ponašanja karakteristične za ideološke obrasce buržoaske klase, čak i kada su ti stavovi i ponašanja u suprotnosti s njihovim vlastitim klasnim interesima. The paper analyzes the civil society and the mechanisms of its functioning through four related units: 1. historical account of the emergence of civil society as an organizational form of the capitalist state; 2. the ideology of the bourgeois class as the dominant ideology of civil society; 3. the hegemony of the bourgeois class and the phenomenon of the petty bourgeoisie; 4. anthropological analysis of the reproduction of bourgeois ideology in everyday life. The aim is to present the way individuals reproduce opinions and behavioral patterns characteristic for the ideological patterns of the bourgeois class in the sphere of everyday life civil society and its institutions and under the unconscious influence of bourgeois ideology, even when those are contrary to their own class interests.

Ovaj diplomski rad tematizira utakmicu Dinamo Zagreb - Crvena zvezda 13.5.1990. Prvi cilj rada je na temelju arhivskog istraživanja i kazivanja navijača Dinama propitati na koji se način, te kojim diskurzivnim i društvenim praksama, tijekom vremena konstruira herojski narativ o utakmici Dinamo Zagreb - Crvena Zvezda. Autor želi prikazati nastanak i razvoj nacionalnog diskursa kao emancipacijskog i herojskog diskursa u izdanjima Večernjeg lista 1990.-2020. Analiza medijskog diskursa provest će se prema predlošku Ivana Đorđevića. Narativi navijača uspoređuju se s medijskim diskursom i ukazuje se na njihove specifičnosti i istovjetnosti u diskursu. U radu se primjenjuju teorijske postavke antropologije društvenog sjećanja, političke antropologije i antropologije sporta. This graduation thesis focuses on the Dinamo Zagreb - Crvena zvezda match on May 13, 1990. The first goal of the paper is to question, on the basis of archival research and what Dinamo fans say, in which way, and with which discursive and social practices, a heroic narrative about the Dinamo Zagreb - Crvena zvezda match is constructed over time. The author wants to show the origin and development of the national discourse as an emancipatory and heroic discourse in the editions of Večernji list 1990.-2020. The analysis of the media discourse will be carried out according to the model of Ivan Đorđević. The fans' narratives are compared with the media discourse and their specificities and identities in the discourse are pointed out. The paper applies the theoretical principles of the anthropology of social memory, political anthropology and sports anthropology.

Ovaj se diplomski rad bavi temom kulture pijenja i alkoholizma u Međimurju. Kroz kulturnoanalitičku perspektivu istražile su se sve društvene silnice koje podupiru pijenje kao ritual i bitan faktor društvenog života Međimurja. Također, opsežno se istraživalo odigravaju li permisivni društveni stavovi prema alkoholu kao dio kulture pijenja međimurskog društva utjecaj na prevalenciju alkoholizma. Kroz ovaj su rad iscrpno predstavljena teorijska polazišta koja prakse pijenja ne sagledavaju isključivo iz kuta devijacije, no pristup ne ignorira pojavu alkoholizma kao relevantnog javnozdravstvenog problema. Istraživački materijal prikupljen je kombinacijom različitih istraživačkih tehnika, polustrukturiranog (dubinskog) intervjua, neformalnih razgovora i promatranja sa sudjelovanjem. Koncipiran je u sedam cjelina kroz koje se predstavlja društveni značaj alkohola za svakodnevicu društva, ali i utjecaj alkoholizma na sve sfere života alkoholičara, od obitelji do radnog mjesta, baveći se unutar njih brojnim manjim, no srodnim temama. Zaključak donosi odgovore na preliminarna istraživačka pitanja, postavlja polazišta za ona buduća i iznosi hipotezu koja je utemeljena na zaključcima ovog rada, a koja traži da bude poduprijeta, napodpunjena ili demantirana opsežnijim kvalitativnim i kvantitativnim istraživanjima ove društvene teme This thesis deals with the theme of the culture of drinking and alcoholism in Međimurje. Through a cultural-analytical perspective, all the social norms that support drinking as a ritual and an important factor in the everyday social life of Međimurje have been studied. Furthermore, it has been extensively investigated whether premissive social attitudes towards alcohol as part of the Međimurje society's drinking culture have an influence on the prevalence of alcoholism. Through this article, theoretical starting points are comprehensively presented, which do not look at consumption practices exclusively from the point of view of deviation, but the approach does not ignore the emergence of alcoholism as a relevant public health problem. Research material was collected through a combination of different research techniques, semi-structured (in-depth) interviews, informal conversations and participant observation. It is conceived in seven units, through which the social significance of alcohol for the daily life of society is presented, as well as the influence of alcoholism on all spheres of the alcoholic's life, from the family to the workplace, dealing with numerous small but related topics within them. The conclusion provides answers to preliminary research questions, establishes the starting point for future ones, and presents a hypothesis that is based on the conclusions of this article and that seeks to be supported, complemented or disproved by broader qualitative and quantitative research on this social topic

Ovaj se diplomski rad bavi problemom verbalnog seksualnog uznemiravanja studentica Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Verbalno je seksualno uznemiravanje danas najčešći oblik seksualnog nasilja koji se često tolerira i trivijalizira. Ciljevi ovog rada su istražiti, analizirati i predstaviti oblike verbalnog seksualnog uznemiravanja s kojima se susreću studentice Sveučilišta u Zagrebu na fakultetima i na javnim površinama. Rad se bavi objašnjenjem navedenog problema, učestalošću i načinima verbalnog seksualnog uznemiravanja na sastavnicama Sveučilišta u Zagrebu i na javnim površinama grada Zagreba, ali i identitetom uznemiravatelja, osjećajima i reakcijama studentica u slučaju uznemiravanja ili svjedočenja uznemiravanju, razlozima neprijavljivanja uznemiravanja te opisom vlastitih iskustava u slučaju susretanja s verbalnim seksualnim uznemiravanjem. U sklopu rada anonimnim je anketnim upitnikom provedeno istraživanje u kojemu su sudjelovale 233 studentice Zagrebačkog sveučilišta. Podaci dobiveni istraživanjem analizirani su i međusobno uspoređeni s obzirom na mjesto uznemiravanja. This thesis deals with the problem of verbal sexual harassment of female students at the University of Zagreb. Verbal sexual harassment is the most common form of sexual violence today and it is often tolerated and trivialized. The goal of this paper is to explore, analyse and present the forms of verbal sexual harassment encountered by female students of the University of Zagreb both in faculty areas and in public spaces. The paper deals with the explanation of the problem, the frequency of occurrence and the ways in which verbal sexual harassment manifests in faculty areas and in public spaces, as well as the identity of the harasser, the feelings and reactions of female students in the event of being harassed or witnessing harassment, the reasons for not reporting harassment, and a description of one's own experiences in the event of verbal sexual harassment. As part of the study, a survey was conducted using an anonymous questionnaire. The participants were 233 female students of the University of Zagreb. The data obtained from the research were analysed and compared with regard to the place of harassment.

Sve je veća zastupljenost kućnih ljubimaca u domovima. Zbog toga su kućni ljubimci sve češće tema mnogih istraživanja pri čemu se ispituje njihov utjecaj na mentalno zdravlje čovjeka, fizičku aktivnost, razinu stresa, utjecaj na starije osobe ili djecu, osjećaj usamljenosti i slično. Zbog pandemije korona virusa koja je aktualna nerijetko se ove dvije teme ispituju povezano. Uočeno je da kućni ljubimci imaju pozitivan utjecaj na čovjeka i pozitivan utjecaj na negativne utjecaje pandemije. Cilj ovog istraživanja je proučiti postoje li razlike u posljedicama pandemije COVID-19 s obzirom na posjedovanje kućnog ljubimca. Istraživanje je provedeno 2021. godine. Uzorak je činilo 593 ispitanika različite dobi (pri čemu je postavljena donja granica na 15 godina, dok gornje granice nije bilo). Primijenjen je mrežni anketni upitnik s ukupno 40 pitanja koja su obuhvaćala opća pitanja koja nam pokazuju demografiju ispitanika, pitanja usmjerena na ispitivanje utjecaja pandemije na ispitanike, pitanja koja se odnose na ispitanike koji imaju kućnog ljubimca te su ispitivali odnos vlasnika i ljubimca, pitanja koja se odnose na ispitanike koji ne posjeduju kućnog ljubimca i ispituju njihove stavove o ljubimcima, pitanja koja ispituju rizična ponašanja i zadnju skupinu pitanja koja ispituje odnose ispitanika s članovima obitelji. Nakon prikupljanja podataka korištena je deskriptivna analiza. Rezultati pokazuju da ispitanici u velikoj mjeri potvrđuju da im je kućni ljubimac olakšao prihvaćanje promjene rutine uzrokovane pandemijom. Osim toga, na temelju potvrdnih odgovora ispitanika možemo pretpostaviti da kućni ljubimac pruža socijalnu podršku vlasniku zbog čega se vlasnik osjeća manje usamljeno čak i u vrijeme karantene i zabrane kretanja uzrokovane pandemijom. Nowadays, more and more households have pets. Because of this, pets are increasingly the subject of many studies, examining their impact on human mental health, physical activity, stress level, impact on the elderly or children, feelings of loneliness, etc. Due to the present coronavirus pandemic, these two topics are often examined together. Observations show that pets have a positive impact on humans and a positive impact on the negative impacts of the pandemic. This research wanted to show whether there are differences in the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic between those who have pets and those who don’t. The research was conducted in 2021. This research had 593 participants of different ages (the lower limit was set at 15 years, while there was no upper limit). An online survey questionnaire with a total of 40 questions was applied, which included general questions that show us the demographics of the respondents, questions aimed at examining the impact of the pandemic on the respondents, questions related to respondents who have a pet and examined the relationship between the owner and the pet, questions that relate to respondents who do not own a pet and examining their attitudes about pets, questions examining risky behaviors and the last group of questions examining the respondents' relationships with family members. After data collection, descriptive analysis was used. Respondents confirm that having a pet eased their acceptance of the change in routine caused by the pandemic. In addition, based on the respondents' affirmative answers, we can assume that pets provide social support to the owner, which makes the owner feel less lonely during the quarantine and travel ban caused by the pandemic.

Ovaj završni rad prikazuje narodne običaje ljudi s prostora Brodsko-posavske županije. Zbog obilja dostupne literature o Slavoniji i Šokcima u ovom završnom radu izdvajaju se samo neki od običaja iz života Šokaca u Posavini. Prvi dio rada prikazuje životne običaje: što se radi u prilikama poroda, sklapanja braka i smrti. Sljedeći dio rada prikazuje neke važnije običaje kroz godinu koji se obilježavaju svake godine poput Božića, Uskrsa, poklada i kirvaja. Nakon toga, prikazani neki gospodarski običaji koji su imali bitnu gospodarsku i društvenu ulogu. Na posljetku, u radu se spominje muška i ženska tradicionalna odjeća koja se nekada uobičavala nositi, a danas se nosi samo pri posebnim prigodama. Svrha ovoga rada je približiti običaje, promovirati njihovu vrijednost i očuvati od zaborava. This final paper shows folk customs from the aerea of Brod-Posavina County. The literature about Slavonia and Šokci is so abundant that it is not possible to mention all of it. That is why this final paper is showing only some of the important customs of the people in that area. The first part of the paper shows life customs such as birth, getting married, and death and what to do and how to act in those situations. The next part shows some of the important yearly customs such as Christmas, Easter, kirvaj and carnival. After that, the paper talks about some work customs that also had social role and finally, the paper mentions the folk custom wear. The purpose of this final paper is to save the tradition from neglecting and to promote it.

Ovaj diplomski rad proučava način na koji se prikazuju povijesne ličnosti i skupine unutar hrvatskih udžbenika povijesti Kraljevine Jugoslavije i Nezavisne Države Hrvatske. Središnja analiza u radu usmjerena je na iščitavanje pozitivnih odnosno negativnih konotacija koje prate udžbeničke opise povijesnih ličnosti i skupina, kao i utvrđivanje kojima od njih su autori udžbenika pripisali i stanoviti herojski odnosno antiherojski status. Cilj rada jest ustanoviti i dokazati da su (anti)heroji, ali i svi ostali prikazi povijesnih pojedinaca i skupina, uistinu refleksija specifičnih politika pamćenja koje se provodilo u Kraljevini Jugoslaviji i Nezavisnoj Državi Hrvatskoj, dok je udžbenik povijesti još jedno mjesto pamćenja u kojemu se stvaraju značenja vezana uz prošlost. This graduate work examines the way in which historical figures and groups within Croatian textbooks of the history of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the independent State of Croatia are portrayed. The central analysis in the paper is aimed at reading positive or negative connotations accompanying textbooks descriptions of historical figures and groups, as well as determining to which historical figures and groups textbook authors attributed a certain heroic or antiheroic characteristics. The aim of this paper is to establish and prove that (anti) heroes, as well as all other portrays of historical individuals and groups, are merely a reflection of specific memory policies carried out in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the Independent state of Croatia, while history textbook is another place of memory in which meanings related to the past are created.

Lateralizacija označava dominantno korištenje jedne strane tijela naspram druge te rezultira desnorukošću ili ljevorukošću. Oko 90% ljudske populacije dominantno koristi desnu ruku, dok lijevu koristi oko 10%. Taj nesrazmjer pokušava se objasniti istraživanjem razvoja mozga te genetskih čimbenika. No, recentnija istraživanja ističu poprilično velik utjecaj kulturnih čimbenika. Naime, tijekom duge povijesti ljudske civilizacije može se pratiti kontinuirana negativna simbolika vezana za dominantno korištenje lijeve ruke te stigmatizacija ljevaka. Ljevorukost se smatrala iskrivljenom, poteklom od zla te čak i patološkim stanjem. No, suvremena istraživanja pokazala su da ona nema veze s pojavom bolesti te da je u posljednjih 50 godina broj ljevaka u Europi porastao, što se pripisuje kulturi prihvaćanja ljevorukosti. Temeljem toga, cilj ovog rada jest istaknuti moguće uzroke rijetke pojave ljevorukosti u društvu. Nastavak istraživanja ove teme mogao bi pomoći u normalizaciji ljevorukosti u društvu kao i doskočiti problemu ponekad nepraktične svakodnevice s kojom se ljevaci susreću. Lateralization indicates the dominant use of one side of the body over the other and results in right-handedness or left-handedness. About 90% of the human population dominantly uses the right hand, while about 10% uses the left. Researching brain development and genetic factors are trying to explain that disproportion. However, recent studies highlight the great influence of cultural factors. To be specific, throughout the long human history, there was the continuous negative symbolism related to the dominant use of the left hand and the stigmatization of left-handed people. Left-handedness was considered distorted, originating from evil and even a pathological condition. However, contemporary research has shown that it has nothing to do with the onset of disease and that in the last 50 years the number of left-handed people in Europe has increased, which is attributed to the culture of acceptance of left-handedness. Based on that, the goal of this paper is to highlight the possible causes of the low distribution of left-handedness in society. Continuing research of this topic could help normalize left-handedness in society, as well as address the problem of impractical everyday life that left-handed people face sometimes.

Turizam je jedna od najvećih svjetskih industrija i većinom se smatra da se ljudi bave slobodnim putovanjem još od najranijih vremena. U stvarnosti, turizam se pojavio u novije vrijeme. Razvio se kao proizvod modernizacije, ali je također odigrao važnu ulogu u oblikovanju doživljaja modernosti. Danas, turističke destinacije nude sve bogatiju i raskošniju turističku ponudu, a sve više se osluškuju želje i potrebe turista. Tako je Ultra Europe Festival u Splitu jedna od najvećih investicija u hrvatski turizam u povijesti, a glavni ciljevi pokretanja ovog festivala bili su nadograditi imidž Hrvatske stvaranjem turističkih doživljaja te privlačenjem mlađe populacije turista. Suvremeni ili „moderni“ turisti zahtijevaju nove usluge i proizvode, stoga se i ponuda mora razvijati i mijenjati. U filmu Turizam! može se primijetit kako turisti „diktiraju“ tempo i smjer promjena u turizmu. Primjerice dok putuju brodom djelatnici ispunjavaju njihove želje, puštaju različitu vrstu glazbe, pripremaju im hranu i piće, osmišljavaju za njih različite igre u kojima mogu sudjelovati. Kao jedna od važnijih grana za gospodarstvo Republike Hrvatske, djelatnici turizma sve više su usredotočeni na promicanje i razvoj novih proizvoda, stoga i nije čudno to što se smišljaju novi sadržaje i ponude. Kao primjer može se izdvojiti večera u zraku, gdje inače turisti imaju konobara koji im poslužuje večeru i piće, a većina turista fascinirana je pogledom na jezgru grada Splita i zalaskom sunca. Dakle, turizam zahtijeva konstantno razvijanje koje je dinamično, interaktivno i neprestano se razvija s obzirom na suvremene trendove. Kao zemlja kojoj je turizam jedan od glavnih prihoda, Republika Hrvatska se mora razvijati u skladu s novim uvjetima. Pojedini djelatnici na Jadranu žive od turističke sezone pa u skladu s time moraju pratiti turističke trendove jer na taj način postižu cilj, a to je prihod od ljetne turističke sezone. Tourism is one of the world's largest industries, and it is widely believed that people have been engaged in leisure travel since the earliest times. In reality, tourism has emerged in recent times. It developed as a product of modernization, but it also played an important role in shaping the experience of modernity. Today, tourist destinations offer an increasingly rich and luxurious tourist offer, and the wishes and needs of tourists are being listened to more and more. Thus, the Ultra Europe Festival in Split is one of the largest investments in Croatian tourism in history, and the main goals of starting this festival were to upgrade the image of Croatia by creating tourist experiences and attracting a young population of tourists. Contemporary or modern" tourists demand new services and products, therefore the offer must also develop and change. In the movie Tourism! it can be noticed how tourists "dictate" the pace and direction of changes in tourism. For example, while traveling by boat, employees fulfil their wishes, play different types of music, prepare food and drinks for them, design different games for them in which they can participate. As one of the most important branches for the economy of the Republic of Croatia, tourism workers are more and more focused on the promotion and development of new products, therefore it is not surprising that new contents and offers are invented. drinks, and most tourists are fascinated by the view and the sunset before they even pay attention to dinner. So, tourism requires constant development that is dynamic, interactive, and constantly evolving with regard to contemporary trends. As a country where tourism is one of the main sources of income, The Republic of Croatia must develop in accordance with the new conditions therefore, they have to follow the tourist trends because that's how they achieve their goal, which is income from the summer tourist season.

Genealogija (rodoslovlje) je grana biologije koja se bavi proučavanjem podrijetla neke jedinke ili skupine jedinki. Genetički genealoški testovi su koristan alat za utvrđivanje srodstva i podrijetla. S napretkom tehnologije i razvojem genomike, te padom cijena genetičkih testova za osobnu upotrebu, porasla je popularnost ovih testova i proširila se njihova primjena. Što je više rasla popularnost ovakvih testova, oni su nailazili i na sve brojnije kritike u znanstvenoj zajednici. U radu se raspravlja o koristima i manama genetičkih genealoških testova za osobnu upotrebu. Predstavljeni su genetički testovi, pružatelji usluga testiranja, njihove primjene i potencijalne opasnosti koje dolaze s masivnim testiranjima. Pregledom znanstvene literature na ovu temu predstavljaju se argumenti za i protiv, te je iznesen okvirni pregled i stav autora o temi. Genealogy is a branch of biology dedicated to ancestry research among individuals or group of individuals. Genetic genealogical tests (down-to-consumer genetic tests) are a useful tool for determination of ancestry and kinship. Their popularity had been on the rise and their usage has expanded across scientific fields due to the advancement of technology, the development in the field of genomics, and the reduced prices of genetic tests. As their popularity rose, these tests have found themselves increasingly criticized by the scientific community. In this paper, the benefits and drawbacks of down to consumer genetic testing are discussed. The paper presents these tests, along with the companies providing them, their usages and the potential dangers that arise from massive testing. Having reviewed the scientific literature on the subject, the author states the arguments for and against and provides an outline review followed by the author’s opinion on the subject.

Meta je termin u kulturi video igara koji opisuje najpopularniji način igranja u jednoj igri, a nastaje od strane igrača koji igraju igru i izvođača koji utječu na mehanizme u igri. Video igre koje će služiti kao primjer da analiziramo metu i njezin utjecaj na drugačije aktere i njihov međusobni odnos su Apex Legends i Dead by Daylight. Ovo Istraživanje opisuje što je meta, kako nastaje i kako se mijena te koji faktori najviše utječu na njezino promjenu. Također, opisujem igre Apex Legends i Dead by Daylight kao primjer utjecaja mete na odnose između aktera ali i aktore poput ekonomije i politike na koje taj pojam može utjecati svojim postojanjem. Zaključno, zašto bi taj pojam bio u interesu studija antropologije i etnologije te kako digitalni pojam utječe na stvarni svijet. Meta is a term used in video game culture which is used to describe the most popular way of playing a game, and the term is developed by the players who play the game and the developers who influence and change the in game mechanics. Video games which will be used as examples to analyze the meta and its influence on the different actors and the relationship between them are the game Apex Legends and Dead by Daylight. This research describes what is meta, how it is developed, how does it change and lastly which factors have the most influence on the term changing. Also I will be describe the games Apex Legends and Dead by Daylight as examples of meta's influence and also other actors such as economy and politics which in turn can also be influenced by its existence. In conclusion, why would this term be in the interesting to the sciences of anthropology and ethnology while also seeing how a digital term influences the real world.

Gledajući kroz povijest napredak tehnologije i znanosti promijenio je način ljudskih života. Iako je njime unaprijeđena kvaliteta čovjekova života, isti je rezultirao mnogim problemima u prirodi. Uvidom u već nastale posljedice uzrokovane uništavanjem prirode, dolazi do porasta interesa za zaštitu okoliša i održivi razvoj. Kako bi se obje stavke ostvarile, potrebno je razvijati ekološku svijest koja se smatra preduvjetom za rješavanje prisutnih ekoloških problema. Nezanemarivu ulogu u razvoju ekološki osviještenosti imaju ekološki odgoj i obrazovanje koji se u RH provode tijekom predškolskog, osnovnoškolskog i srednjoškolskog obrazovanja. Uz spomenuto, postoje programi koji se mogu implementirati u školstvo, a stavljaju poseban naglasak na važnost provedbe odgoja i obrazovanja za okoliš. Primjer takvog programa međunarodni program Ekoškola koji za cilj ima implementaciju odgoja i obrazovanja za okoliš u sve dijelove odgojno-obrazovnog sustava te u svakodnevni život svih sudionika. Kako je razvoj ekološke svijesti nužna komponenta u ekološkom djelovanju, ovaj rad za cilj ima ispitati ekološku osviještenost učenika 8.razreda ekoškola. Istraživanjem u ovom radu pokušavamo dobiti uvid u znanja, stavove i navike o okolišu koje učenici ekoškola imaju i prakticiraju. Istraživanje se provelo postupkom online anketiranja, a uzorak je sastojao 124 učenika i učenica 8. razreda škola na području Grada Zagreba, pri čemu je nužno bilo da škola ima aktivan status ekoškole. Analiza rezultata istraživanja je pokazala da učenici ekoškola većinom pokazuju visku razinu znanja, pozitivnih stavova i proekološkog ponašanja, no i na to da ima mjesta za napredak u svim područjima. Looking throughout history, the improvement of technology and science has changed the way people live. Although it improved the quality of human life, it resulted in many problems in nature. With an insight into the already created consequences caused by the destruction of nature, there is an increase in interest in environmental protection and sustainable development. In order to achieve both, it is necessary to develop environmental awareness, which is considered a prerequisite for solving the present environmental problems. Ecological upbringing and education, which are in the Republic of Croatia, implemented during preschool, elementary and high school education, play a significant role in the development of environmental awareness. In addition to the above, there are programs that can be implemented in schools, which place special emphasis on the importance of environmental education. An example of such a program is the international Eco-school program, which aims to implement environmental education in all parts of the educational system and in the daily life of all participants. As the development of ecological awareness is a neccesity in ecological action, the aim of this paper is to examine the ecological awareness of 8th-grade eco-school students. Through this research in this paper, we try to get an insight into the knowledge, attitudes and habits about the environment that students of eco-schools have and practice. The research was conducted using an online survey, and the sample consisted of 124 male and female students of the 8th grade of schools in the area of the City of Zagreb, where it was necessary that the school had an active eco-school status. The analysis of the research results showed that the students of eco-schools mostly show a high level of knowledge, positive attitudes and pro-environmental behavior, but also that there is room for improvement in all areas.

Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je sagledati promjene u praksi galebarenja kroz vrijeme, koristeći rodne aspekte i lažno predstavljanje kao fokus promatranja. Galebarenje se pozicionira unutar romantičnog turizma, te se istražuje rodna neravnopravnost unutar fenomena. Također se galebarenje predstavlja kao izvedbeni oblik, te ga se obrađuje unutar studija predstavljanja. Rad se temelji na intervjuima koji su obavljeni s galebovima i bračnim partnericama galebova. Putem primjera sličnih fenomena u stranoj literaturi naznačuju se razlike i sličnosti između različitih praksi. The goal of this thesis is to examine the changes in the practice of “galebarenje” through time, using gender aspects and false presentation as the focus of researching. “Galebarenje” is positioned within romantic tourism, which gives way to researching gender inequality within the phenomena. “Galebarenje” is also examined as a performance form and is viewed through the lens of performance studies. The thesis is based on interviews which were conducted with “galebovi” and with marital partners of “galebovi”. Through similar examples in foreign literature, differences and similarities between different practices are presented.

Cilj ovog diplomskog rada jest suočiti tradicionalnu važnost mjesta hodočašća u Indiji, kao što je rijeka Yamuna s eksploatacijskim utjecajima galopirajuće industrijalizacije i urbanizacije koja transformira i onečišćuje krajolik svetog mjesta. Propitat će se teološki i vjerski značaj rijeke, te mitologija i obredi usporedno s posljedicama suvremenih ekonomskih aktivnosti na rijeku. Razradit će se dva oblika zaštita okoliša primijenjena na rijeci Yamuni; devocijska ekologija kao religijski pristup, te ekološka pravna osobnost kao analogni oblik unutar zakonodavnog konteksta. Inicijative za očuvanje rijeke Yamune razmotrit će se kroz poddiscipline antropologije okoliša, religije i ekologije, te religijskog environmentalizma. Kulturološkim i ekološkim interpretacijama istražit će se reakcije na takav disonantan stav prema nečem što je istovremeno sveto i zagađeno. Etnografska građa sastoji će se od stručnih, arhivskih i medijskih izvora. The aim of this graduate work is to confront the traditional importance of a pilgrimage site in India, such as the Yamuna river with the exploitative influences of galloping industrialization and urbanization that transforms and contaminates a sacralised environment. The thesis will present the theological understanding of the Yamuna river, her religious significance, mythology and rituals with the consequences that modern economic activities have on the river. Two types of environmental protection applied on the Yamuna river will be elaborated; devotional ecology as a religious approach, and environmental personhood as an analogous effort within the legislative context. Initiatives to preserve the Yamuna River will be examined through the subdisciplines of religion and ecology, religious environmentalism and environmental anthropology. The work will explore ways of responding to such a dissonant attitude toward the place that is both sacred and polluted in the process of transformation. Ethnographic material consists of scientific material, archives and media sources.

Kulturna baština glavni je element kulturnog turizma, a način na koji je predstavljamo i interpretiramo treba biti u fokusu interesa svih dionika kulturno turističkog tržišta. Kulturni turist želi upoznati kulturu i identitet zajednice koju posjećuje, po mogućnosti na interaktivan način koji će u njemu pobuditi emocije, potaknuti ga na sudjelovanje i na taj način mu utisnuti sjećanje o viđenom i iskušanom. Predstavljeno je nekoliko primjera takvog pristupa interpretaciji baštine u kulturnom turizmu: primjeri oživljene povijesti Istra Inspirita, primjer interpretacijskog razgleda u Malinskoj te primjer Šetnje u Hlebinama u kojima kao interpretator nastupa lokalna zajednica. Dato je još nekoliko primjera uspješne pripreme lokaliteta za kulturni turizam. Nadležne institucije su do danas interpretaciji kulturne baštine pristupale uglavnom na neosoban način kroz tiskovine, interpretacijske i posjetiteljske centre. Osobno iskustvo i iskustvo mnogih kolega interpretatora ukazuju da su ljudi ti koji povezuju posjetitelje s baštinom. U radu su predstavljeni primjeri osobne interpretacije koju vrše najčešće turistički vodiči, a smatramo trebali bi uključivati i baštinske zajednice i druge stručne i profesionalne dionike kulturnog turizma. Cultural heritage is the main element of cultural tourism, and the way we present it and interpret it should be in the focus of interest of all stakeholders in the cultural tourism market. A cultural tourist wants to know the culture and identity of the community he is visiting, preferably in an interactive way that will provoke his emotions, invite him to participate and thus imprint the memory of what he saw and experienced. Several examples of such an approach to the interpretation of heritage in cultural tourism are presented: examples of the "living history" of Istra Inspirit, an example of an interpretive walk in Malinska and an example of a "Walk in Hlebine" in which the local community acts as an interpreter. Several more examples of successful site preparation for cultural tourism are given. To date, the official institutions have approached the interpretation of cultural heritage mainly in an impersonal way through publications, interpretation centers and visitor centers. Personal experience and the experience of many colleagues interpreters indicate that a person is the one who connects visitors with heritage. The paper presents examples of personal interpretation most often performed by tourist guides. However, we believe that interpretation should include heritage communities and other professional stakeholders in cultural tourism.

Saborsko je mjesto pored Plitvičkih jezera koje je kroz godine postojanja pretrpjelo ljudske i materijalne gubitke. Najznačajniji događaj iz recentne povijesti je Domovinski rat koji je u ovom području imao za posljedicu uništavanje cijelog mjesta te ubijanje i progonstvo civila. Fokus ovog rada je na analiziranju koje su se promjene u baštinskim procesima dogodile u usporedbi sa praksama prije i nakon Domovinskog rata. Također, ispitano je i zadovoljstvo stanovnika obnovom materijalne i nematerijalne baštine. Cilj ovog rada je prikazati na koji način su se baštinske prakse promijenile nakon povratka stanovnika u domicilni prostor. Saborsko is a village located next to the Plitvice lakes which suffered many human and material losess during history of its existance. The most significant event in recent history is Croatian War of Independence which resulted in destruction of the entire village, killing and persecutions civilians. The focus of this thesis is to analyze which changes happend in heritage practices when compared to periods before and after Croatian War of Independence. Respondent satisfaction concerning tangible and intagible heritage was also examined. Purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate how heritage practices changed since the return of local population to their places of residence.

Diplomski rad se bavi popularizacijom sevdaha te načinom na koji je popularizacija dovela do pozitivne percepcije kvir zajednice. Fokus rada je na pitanju kako je globalizacija utjecala na popularizaciju sevdaha kroz fenomen World Musica te kako se sevdah koristi u transformaciji rodnih uloga. Cilj je interpretirati globalizacijske procese u recentnim godinama, prikazati utjecaj tih procesa na kvir zajednicu te prikazati kako se kvir zajednica služi sevdahom u svrhu stjecanja svojih prava. Autor metodološki polazi od etnografije gdje se služio tehnikama ekspertnog polustrukturiranog intervjua, analize medijskog diskursa te analize znanstvenih članaka.

Diplomski rad prikazuje aktivističko djelovanje LGBTIQ zajednice u Zagrebu, odnosno na Zagreb Prideu koji se kontinuirano održava od 2002. godine te je postao najdugovječniji prosvjed u Hrvatskoj. Zagreb Pride događaj je čija je svrha promovirati i slaviti seksualne i rodne različitosti te istovremeno propitivati društveno-političke probleme i zahtijevati njihovo rješavanje. Rad se fokusira na društveno-političke okolnosti u kojima se održavaju Povorke ponosa u Zagrebu te na iskustva aktivista. Cilj je prikazati i analizirati razloge aktivističke angažiranosti na Zagreb Prideu, kako aktivisti doživljavaju svoj čin prosvjedovanja te koji su njihovi stavovi o takvom obliku prosvjeda. Kao metoda istraživanja korišteni su polustrukturirani intervjui, promatranje sa sudjelovanjem te analiza diskurza. This master thesis presents the activist actions of the LGBTIQ community in Zagreb, at the Zagreb Pride which has been held continuously since 2002 and has become the longest running protest in Croatia. Zagreb Pride is an event whose purpose is to promote and celebrate sexual and gender diversities and at the same time question socio-political problems and demand their solution. The paper focuses on the socio-political circumstances in which the Pride Parades is held in Zagreb and on the experiences of activists. The aim is to present and analyse the reasons for activist engagement at Zagreb Pride, how activists perceive their act of protest and what are their attitudes on this form of protest. Semi-structured interviews, participant observation and discourse analysis were used as research methods.

Ovaj diplomski rad propituje konstrukciju lika hrvatskog istraživača Dragutina Lermana u etnološkom, povijesnom, muzejskom, kulturno-turističkom i popularnom diskursu s fokusom na njegovoj etnografskoj djelatnosti i ulozi u kolonijalnoj upravi belgijskog kralja Leopolda II. S obzirom na to, postavlja se pitanje kako se tumači i vrednuje njegova uloga u navedenom kontekstu. U uvodnom dijelu nakon razlaganja problematike i metodike, iznosim kratku Lermanovu biografiju, te povijesni kontekst u kojem je djelovao. U drugom dijelu analiziram sakupljenu etnografsku građu znanstvenih, medijskih i muzejskih izvora, koju u posljednjem dijelu tumačim i razrađujem pomoću teoretskog okvira postkolonijalne kritike te antropologije društvenog sjećanja. Rad zaključujem sa kratkim pregledom provedenog istraživanja, te izlaganjem alternativnog pristupa reprezentaciji sjećanja na analiziranu figuru. This master thesis examines the construction of the image of Croatian explorer Dragutin Lerman within ethnological, historical, museum, cultural-tourism and popular discourse, with a focus on his ethnographic activities as well as his role in the colonial administration of the Belgian king Leopold II. In regards to that, I raise the question of how his role is interprited and regarded in the aforementioned context. In the introductory section, after presenting the problematics and the methodology, I bring out Lerman’s short biography, and the historical context in which he conducted his duties. In the second part I analyse the collected scientific, media, and museum ethnographic material, which I proceed to interpret and expand upon through a theoretical frame of postcolonial criticism and the anthropology of social memory. I conclude the thesis with a short overview of the conducted research as well as elaborating upon an alternative approach to the representation of memory of the analysed figure.

U radu se istražuje utjecaj religioznosti na prehrambene prakse stanovništva otoka Iža. Rad je usredotočen na new age duhovnost. Istražuje se na koji način i u kojoj mjeri new age duhovnost uvjetuje odabir prehrane te način proizvodnje prehrambenih sirovina na otoku Ižu. Analizom prehrambenih praksi uvjetovanih new age duhovnošću dobivaju se uvidi u utjecaje globalnih procesa na malu i relativno zatvorenu otočku zajednicu. Opisuju se individualni oblici new age duhovnosti na Ižu te uspoređuju sa suvremenim teorijskim razmatranjima ovog kulturnog fenomena. Također, istražuje se utjecaj njuejdžerskog „spiritualnog utočišta“, Hotela „Korinjak“ na išku zajednicu. Istraživanje je provedeno metodom polustrukturiranog intervjua u lipnju 2021. godine. Vegetarijanstvo se pokazalo najpoželjnijim oblikom prehrane u skladu s oblicima new age duhovnosti prisutnima na otoku Ižu. Duhovne prakse iških njuejdžera uvelike su se uklapale u teorijske reprezentacije new age duhovnosti. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su indiferentnost zajednice prema prehrambenim praksama sljedbenika new age religioznosti na otoku Ižu, kao i prema njihovim duhovnim praksama općenito. This paper examines the influence of religiosity on the dietary practices of the inhabitants of the island of Iž. Emphasis is put on new age spirituality. The paper explores how and to what extent does new age spirituality influence food choice and foodstuff production on the island of Iž. The analysis of dietary practices influenced by new age spirituality provides insights into the impact of global processes on a small and relatively closed island community. Individual forms of new age religion on Iž are described and compared with contemporary theory on the new age. Furthermore, the paper explores the influence of the „spiritual retreat“, hotel “Korinjak”, on the community. Research was conducted by half structured interviews in June 2021. The preferred dietary practice of the new agers on Iž was, to a large extent, vegetarianism. The research has shown that the spiritual practices of Iž's new agers fit into the contemporary view on new age spirituality to a large extent. The research has also shown the indifference of the Iž community with regard to new age dietary practices and their spiritual practices in general.

Feministički pristupi historiji upućuju na važnost i transformativni potencijal marginaliziranih djelovanja i iskustava žena onkraj dominantnih narativa. Doprinos antropologije ovim pristupima ogleda se u dekonstruiranju univerzalne koncepcije pojma žene i patrijarhata kroz važnost konteksta, parcijalne perspektive i pozicije gledanja na stvarnost, to jest politike lokacije i strategija etnografije pojedinačnog. Vodeći se tim, ovaj rad za cilj ima istražiti nevidljiv odnos i emancipacijsko djelovanje Antifašističke fronte žena. Obilježena jugoslavenskim, socijalističkim narativom koji je promjenom sustava 90-ih godina poprimio nova proturječja, svjedočimo jednoj vrsti zaborava tog perioda masovnog socijalističkog organiziranja žena. Kako bih obuhvatila specifičan kontekst i načine djelovanja žena AFŽ-a na lokalnoj razini, analizirali su se arhivski zapisi organiziranja žena na zadarskom području u periodu Narodnooslobodilačke borbe (1943.-1945.) i djelovanja Gradskog odbora AFŽ-a Zadar (1945. – 1953). Interpretacijom arhivskih zapisa kontekstualiziraju se načini djelovanja i pružanja otpora žena unutar postojećeg društveno političkog okvira. Kompleksan odnos patrijarhalnih obrazaca i emancipacijskih praksi analizira se kroz profesionalizaciju sfere reproduktivnog rada i kolektivizaciju brige kao i kroz ograničenja s kojima su se susretale u radu. Nastoji se doprinijeti zaboravljenom dijelu historije koje službene povijesti ignoriraju kao i postojećim istraživanjima ove teme. Feminist approaches to history point to the importance and transformative potential of marginalized actions and experiences of women beyond dominant narratives. The contribution of anthropology to these approaches is reflected in the deconstruction of the universal conception of the notion of woman and patriarchy through the importance of context, partial perspective and the position of viewing reality, that is, politics of location and ethnographies of the particular. Guided by this, this paper aims to explore the invisible relationship and emancipatory actions of the Women’s Anti-Fascist Front (AFŽ). Marked by the Yugoslav, socialist narrative, which took on new contradictions with the change of the system in the 1990s, we witness a kind of oblivion of that period and the mass socialist organization of women. To cover the specific context and ways of action of AFŽ women at a local level, archival records of the organization of women in the Zadar region during the National Liberation Struggle (1943-1945) and the activities of the AFŽ Zadar City Board (1945-1953) were analyzed. The interpretation of archival records contextualizes how women act and resist within the existing socio-political framework. The complex relationship of patriarchal patterns and emancipatory practices is analyzed through the professionalization of the sphere of reproductive work and the collectivization of care as well as through the limitations these women encountered through their work. It seeks to contribute to a forgotten part of history that official histories ignore as well as to the existing research on this topic.

Tema ovog rada je analiza rasnih i etničkih stereotipa u animiranim filmovima Disney i Pixar produkcije. Na početku rada dan je teorijski okvir te je objašnjen pojam stereotipa, s posebnim naglaskom na rasizam i etničke stereotipe. S obzirom da su animirani filmovi medij namijenjen djeci, možemo zaključiti da poruke koje se prenose u tim filmovima imaju na njih velik utjecaj. Upravo je zato prepoznata uloga interkulturne i medijske pedagogije koja je također objašnjena u teorijskom dijelu rada. U istraživačkom dijelu rada analizirano je deset animiranih filmova koji prikazuju određene etničke skupine. Možemo zaključiti da Disney u svojim animiranim filmovima prikazuje brojne etničke stereotipe, a superiornu ulogu većinom imaju likovi bijele rase. Iako je s godinama došlo do značajnog pomaka u stereotipiziranju određenih etničkih manjina, Disney još uvijek ima puno prostora za napredak i učenje kako različite narode i kulture prikazati na vjerodostojan način. The topic of this paper is analysis of racial and ethnic stereotypes in Disney and Pixar animated movies. The theoretical frame is given in the first part of the paper, explaining the term stereotypes with special accent on racism and ethnic stereotypes. Considering animated movies are a medium that targets younger audience, we can conclude that the messages that are transfered in those movies have a great impact on them. Because of that a role of intercultural and media pedagogy is recognised and is also explained in the theoretical part of the paper. In the research part of the paper, ten animated movies which include specific ethnic groups are analysed. We can conclude that Disney in its animated movies shows variety of ethnic stereotypes and also a superior role in most of those movies have white race characters. Although there has been a significant shift from stereotyping ethnic groups over the years, Disney still has a lot of room to grow and to learn how to portray different nations and cultures in a credible way.

Tema ovog rada su gozbe pretkeramičkog neolitika Bliskog istoka. Cilj je dati pregled odabranih arheoloških nalazišta na kojima su zabilježeni tragovi gozbovanja. Etnološka teorija daje nam, u kombinaciji s analizom materijalnih dokaza, podlogu za promišljanje o karakteru gozbi. Gozbe promatramo kao zajednički događaj koji je osim što je praktičan i profan, također ima i ritualni karakter. Gozbe se koriste kao kohezivno sredstvo pomoću kojeg se smanjuju unutarnje tenzije zajednice koje proizlaze prilikom prelaska ljudi s nomadskog načina života i lovačko- sakupljačkog načina privrede na sjedilački način života u kojem ljudi počinju pripitomljavati određene biljne i životinjske vrste. Uz gozbovanje, u radu se prezentira ta tranzicija i kroz oblikovanje prostornih aspekata stanovanja i kroz ritualno ponašanje vezano uz gozbovanje. The topic of this paper are the feasts of the prepoterry Neolithic of the Middle East. The aim is to provide an overview of selected archaeological sites where traces of feasting have been recorded. Ethnological theory gives us, in combination with the analysis of material evidence, a basis for questioning about the character of feasts. Feasts are viewed as a common event which, in addition to being practical and profane, also has a ritual character. Feasts are used as a cohesive medium for reducing the internal tensions that arise when people move from a nomadic lifestyle and a hunting-gathering economy to a sedentary lifestyle in which people begin to domesticate certain plant and animal species. In addition to feasting, the paper presents this transition through the shaping of the spatial aspects of housing and through ritual behavior related to feasting.

Diplomski se rad bavi heroizacijom medicinskih radnika u Republici Hrvatskoj za vrijeme pandemije COVID-19. Fokus ovoga rada je na pitanju razvoja medijske reprezentacije medicinskih radnika u okolnostima zdravstvene krize, evokaciji ratnog diskursa u pandemijskom narativu te na pitanju radničkog položaja medicinskih radnika. Cilj je predstaviti, analizirati i kritički se osvrnuti na ovaj fenomen privremene heroizacije kroz studije heroizma, antropologiju medija i antropologiju rada. Autorica metodološki polazi od etnografije, koristeći se tehnikama polustrukturiranog intervjua, neformalnih razgovora i analize medijskog diskursa. This paper deals with the process of heroization of medical workers in Croatia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper focuses on the development of media representations of medical workers in circumstances of a health crisis, the evocation of war discourse in the pandemic narrative and the workers’ position and working conditions of medical workers. The aim is to analyse and critically reflect on this phenomenon of temporary heroization through heroism studies, media anthropology and anthropology of work. Methodology employed in this research and paper is ethnography and techniques of semi-structured interview, informal conversations, and analysis of media discourse.

Ovaj rad istražuje etičke probleme i izazove koji se javljaju u područjima arheologije, forenzične antropologije, destruktivnih analiza, muzeologije i obrazovanja prilikom postupanja s ljudskim skeletnim ostacima na teritoriju Republike Hrvatske. Postojeći pravni okviri i smjernice za rad u Republici Hrvatskoj uspoređeni su s onima u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama i Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu. Primjerima se opisuju konkretne situacije i problemi u praksi, a oni su velikim dijelom uzrokovani nedostatkom adekvatnih zakonskih regulacija i propisa. Kako su ljudski skeletni ostaci nekoć pripadali živućim ljudima koji su živjeli u zajednicama koje su imale svoja vjerovanja i vrijednosti, potrebno je osvijestiti da se upotreba i rad na njima ne mogu izjednačiti s korištenjem običnih predmeta ili materijala. Stoga je potrebno uvesti dodatne regulacije kojima će se praksa standardizirati na razini svih institucija u Hrvatskoj, a uz to je potrebno i intenzivirati propitkivanje etičnosti dosadašnjeg postupanja u stručnim krugovima i javnosti jer samo tako može doći do značajnih promjena. Na kraju su ponuđena načela koja bi se trebala slijediti kod oblikovanja novih regulacija za Republiku Hrvatsku. The aim of this paper is to explore the ethical issues and challenges that arise in the treatment of human skeletal remains in the areas of archaeology, forensic anthropology, destructive analysis, museology, and education. The existing legal framework and guidelines in the Republic of Croatia are compared with those from the United States and the United Kingdom. Examples describe specific situations and problems in practice that are largely caused by the lack of adequate legal regulations and guidelines. As human skeletal remains once belonged to living people who lived in communities and had their own beliefs and values, it should be accepted that the modes of use and work on human remains cannot simply be reduced to the ones pertaining to ordinary artefacts or materials. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce additional regulations so as to standardize the practice in all institutions in Croatia. Also, the ethics of the current treatment in professional circles and the public should be further critically inspected, as this is the only way to motivate change. Finally, a number of principles are offered that should be followed when designing new regulations in the Republic of Croatia.

Ovaj diplomski rad pregled je do sada poznatih nalazišta na kojima je iz koštanih ostataka ekstrahirana i analizirana nuklearna DNA. Podatci dobiveni morfološkom analizom kostiju, nadopunjeni podatcima dobivenim sekvenciranjem mitohondrijske i nuklearne DNA omogućuju znanstvenicima bolji uvid u živote arhaičnih populacija tijekom pleistocena. Uz pomoć različitih softvera, statističkih i analitičkih metoda kojima se analiziraju podatci, dolazimo do novih zaključaka o odnosima različitih arhaičnih populacija, ali i o odnosima različitih populacija ranih modernih ljudi. Ovaj rad zasniva se na pregledu podataka iz paleogenetike i paleoantropologije te na pokušaju usporedbe dobivenih podataka sa svrhom boljega razumijevanja života različitih arahičnih populacija tijekom pleistocena. This thesis is a review of the sites with currently available sequences of aDNA extracted from hominin fossils. The information obtained by morphological analysis of the bones from these sites is complemented by the information obtained by sequencing mitochondrial and nuclear genomes of these individuals. In some cases, the information obtained by sequencing the genomes from the skeletal remains changed the way in which scientists saw the population history of hominin groups, in some cases they confirmed previous conclusions, and in some cases revealed new information that was not available to scientist just from skeletal remains such as admixture events, relatedness of the populations seen from haplogups of mitochondrial DNA and Y chromosome et cetera.

Otisak prsta kao sredstvo raspoznavanja koristi se još od najstarijih vremena. Papilarne linije ruke, dlana ili stopala jedinstvene su i nepromjenjive za svakog čovjeka. Stoga, metoda utvrđivanja identiteta osoba pomoću otiska prsta danas predstavlja osnovu u kriminalističkoj i forenzičnoj identifikaciji. Također, iz rasporeda papilarnih linija može se saznati mnogo o samoj osobi. Suvremene forenzične metode sve se više koriste prilikom analize arheoloških ostataka. Tragovi papilarnih linija pronađeni su na dva grumena kućnog lijepa s lokaliteta Vučedol te na fragmentu trbuha keramičkog lonca lokaliteta Torčec - Gradić. Analiza tragova provedena je u Centru za forenzična ispitivanja, istraživanja i vještačenja „Ivan Vučetić“ prema standardnom forenzičnom protokolu. Proveden je i eksperiment u svrhu popunjavanja podataka dobivenih analizom. Fingerprint has been used as a means of recognition since ancient times. The papillary lines of the hand, palm or foot are unique and unchanging for every individual. Therefore, the method of determining the identity of persons using a fingerprint today is the basis in criminal and forensic identification. Also, a lot can be learned about the person from the layout of the papillary lines. Modern forensic methods are increasingly used in the analysis of archaeological remains. Traces of papillary lines were found on two lumps of daub from the Vučedol site and on a fragment of the belly of a ceramic pot from the Torčec - Gradić site. The analysis of the traces was performed in the Center for Forensic Examinations, Research and Expertise "Ivan Vučetić" following the standard forensic protocol. An experiment was also conducted to fill in the data obtained by analysis.

Pojam biopolitike obuhvaća današnje, postmoderno doba kojeg karakterizira ubrzani razvoj medicine i bioloških znanosti, nestanak transcendentalnog, sve duži životni vijek i set pravila po kojima valja živjeti kako bismo živjeli zdravije i duže. Pitanje koje će me zanimati u centralnom dijelu ovog rada jest kakav je odnos prema smrti u doba kada se život nametnuo kao najviše čovjekovo dobro i cjelokupna svrha ljudskog postojanja. U individualiziranom okruženju smrt se često tabuizira i lišena je nekog unutarnjeg smisla, no ona ostaje ono nešto zajedničko (i neizbježno) svim ljudima.

U radu je iz više aspekata analiziran koncept djeteta i djetinjstva. Na temelju prikaza povijesti djetinjstva, emocija, individuuma, odgoja, discipliniranja i drugo, u američkom, europskom i hrvatskom kontekstu vidjeli smo da su sve te povijesti promjenjive kroz vrijeme i međuovisne. Na primjeru etnografske građe, koju je Antun Radić objavio u Osnovi za sabiranje i proučavanje građe o narodnom životu, prikazano je kako je na prijelazu iz 19. u 20. stoljeće u toj tradicijskoj patrijarhalnoj kulturi bilo uobičajeno djecu disciplinirati kažnjavanjem (najčešće šibom), te se nisu smjele iskazivati emocije koje su se smatrale slabošću; pogotovo kod muškaraca. Na primjeru javnog istupa voditeljice Pinčić vidjeli smo prijepore oko discipliniranja i uopće odgoja djece u suvremenosti. Današnje su granice između kažnjavanja i discipliniranja nejasne. Djeca su zaštićena raznim zakonima s kojima velik dio ljudi nije upoznat, te roditelji često ne znaju na koji način smiju i trebaju postupati s djecom. The paper analyzes the concept of child and childhood from several aspects. Based on the presentation of childhood history, emotions, individualism, upbringing, discipline and more in the American, European and Croatian contexts we have seen that all these histories are changeable over time and interdependent. In the example of the ethnographic material, that Antun Radić published in The Basis for Collection and Study of Material on Folk life, it is shown that at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in this traditional patriarchal culture it was common for children to be disciplined by punishment (usually with a whip), it was also not allowed to show emotions because showing emotions was considered a weakness; especially in men. In the example publicly made by the TV host Doris Pinčić, we saw controversies being raised about disciplining and raising children in modern times. Today, the boundaries between punishment and discipline are blurred. Children are protected by various laws that many people are not familiar with, so parents often do not know how they can and should treat their children.

Diplomski rad "„Sve izgleda nemoguće dok se ne ostvari” - Prelog kao Europski grad sporta 2019. godine" analizira i predstavlja Prelog kao europski grad sporta u Hrvatskoj kroz prizmu nagrade (titule) koju je osvojio 2019. godine. Rad ispituje političku pozadinu Preloga kao grada sporta kroz narative petero kazivača različitog stupnja involviranosti u sport i politiku grada Preloga, propitujući pritom, ne samo stavove kazivača o Prelogu kao gradu sporta, već i intrinzična shvaćanja i razmišljanja kazivača o svrsi i važnosti sporta u svakodnevnome životu i njegovu ulogu u zajednici. Primjenjujući teorijske postavke antropologije sporta i filozofije sporta, rad produbljuje kazivanja pridodajući im i filozofsku komponentu analiziranjem stavova kazivača kroz prizmu filozofije i antropologije sporta. Master thesis "Everything seems impossible until it is realized" - Prelog as a European city of sports in 2019 "analyses and presents Prelog as a European city of sports in Croatia through the prism of the award (title) Prelog won in 2019. The paper examines the political background of Prelog as a city of sports through the narratives of five narrators of varying degrees of involvement in sports and politics of the city of Prelog, questioning not only the narrator's views on Prelog as a city of sports, but also the narrator's intrinsic understandings and thoughts about sport and its role in the community. Applying the theoretical assumptions of the anthropology of sport and the philosophy of sport, the paper deepens the narrations by adding a philosophical component to them by analysing the attitudes of the narrators through the prism of the philosophy and anthropology of sport.

Ovaj je rad rezultat biografskog istraživanja hrvatskog interspolnog aktivista E.(25). Istražuje diskurse o interspolnosti te mehanizme koji stigmatiziraju ili osnažuju interspolne osobe. Studija slučaja E.(25) pokazuje kako medicinski diskurs može djelovati na interspolnu osobu. Tajnost o interspolnom stanju uzrokuje osjećaj srama i straha od neprihvaćanja, a otkrivanje istine ih briše. Interspolna zajednica u ovom procesu igra najveću ulogu. Osoba koja je tiha i ne zamišlja se kao aktivista uz podršku zajednice može postati aktivist koji iz temelja gradi interspolnu zajednicu u Hrvatskoj. Razvoj identiteta ovog aktivista centralno je tema u ovom radu. This thesis is the result of a biographical research of the Croatian intersex activist E.(25). It explores intersex discourses and the mechanisms that stigmatize or empower intersex persons. The E.(25) case study shows how the medical discourse can affect an intersex person. The secrecy with regard to someone’s intersex traits causes feelings of shame and fear of rejection, whereas the unveiling of the truth erases them. The intersex community plays the main role in this process. A quiet person, one that cannot imagine oneself as an activist, can with the help of community transform into an activist that is building the Croatian intersex community from the ground up. The central theme of this thesis is the development of this activist’s identity.
