The glassy state of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) has shown great potential for energy-related applications, including solid electrolytes. However, their thermal conductivity (κ), an essential parameter influencing thermal dissipation, remains largely unexplored. In this work, using a combination of experiments, atomistic simulations, and lattice dynamics calculations, we investigate κ and the underlying heat conduction mechanism in ZIF glasses with varying ratios of imidazolate (Im) to benzimidazolate (bIm) linkers. The substitution of bIm for Im tunes the node–linker couplings but exhibits only a minor impact on the average diffusivity of low-frequency lattice modes. On the other hand, the linker substitution induces significant volume expansion, which, in turn, suppresses the contributions from lattice vibrations to κ, leading to decreased total heat conduction. Furthermore, spatial localization of internal high-frequency linker vibrations is promoted upon substitution, reducing their mode diffusivities. This is ascribed to structural deformations of the bIm units in the glasses. Our work unveils the detailed influences of linker substitution on the dual heat conduction characteristics of ZIF glasses and guides the κ regulation of related hybrid materials in practical applications. This study presents photothermal imaging results of subsurface material defects within fiber metal laminates utilizing the virtual wave concept. Therefore, we theoretically analyze the propagation of the virtual wave signal in a hybrid composite laminate via the method of images. For provoking local material damage, the hybrid composite sample is subjected to a defined impact loading. The results obtained from photothermal defect imaging, utilizing rectangular laser pulse excitation, are compared with results obtained from 3D x-ray computed tomography. To sum up, we demonstrate a fast, non-invasive, and easily interpretable reconstruction of defects within macroscopic hybrid composite laminates based on the virtual wave concept. Purpose: To evaluate and compare the fracture mode and strength of monolithic zirconia to veneered zirconia and metal-ceramic full-coverage restorations following artificial aging and to test the performance of translucent zirconia in terms of load-bearing capacity. Materials and Methods: Two mandibular first molars were prepared and scanned for their respective groups of full-coverage restorations. A total of 75 fullcoverage restorations were fabricated and divided into five groups: two groups for monolithic zirconia, two groups for veneered zirconia, and one group for metal-ceramic. Then, 75 light-cured hybrid composite resin dies were fabricated to serve as abutments. Before cementation, all full-coverage restorations were subjected to accelerated aging. After cementation, all full-coverage restorations were subjected to compressive loading until fracture in an electromechanical universal testing machine. A two-way nested ANOVA and Tukey test were used to analyze the results with 95% confidence levels. Results: Monolithic zirconia full-coverage restorations showed the highest mean fracture resistance of 4,201.0 N, followed by metalceramic full-coverage restorations of 3,609.3 N, and veneered zirconia full-coverage restorations showed the lowest mean fracture resistance of 2,524.6 N. The main mode of failure was cohesive bulk fracture for the monolithic zirconia group, cohesive/adhesive failure with infrastructure damage for the veneered zirconia group, and cohesive/adhesive failure without infrastructure damage for the metal-ceramic group. Conclusions: Monolithic zirconia full-coverage restorations showed superior resistance to fracture compared to metal-ceramic full-coverage restorations and are highly reliable in terms of load-bearing capacity within the posterior regions of the mouth. This paper explores the production and mechanical analysis of hemp bi-grid cores designed for use in sandwich structures, using an ad hoc continuous manufacturing process. The proposed customised manufacturing process allows for the production of cores with varying density values (ranging from 0.37 to 0.63 g/cm3). Both graded cores, with varying fibre content through the thickness, and non-graded cores were produced. The mechanical properties of these cores were evaluated under flexural and compressive testing with specific flexural strength reaching approximately 80 MPa·cm3/g and specific compressive elastic modulus around 340 MPa·cm3/g. Additionally, to assess their impact performance in sandwich panels, hybrid panels with CFRP skins were fabricated and subjected to Low Velocity Impact tests at 25 J, 45 J and 50 J. The results revealed that optimizing core density had increasingly beneficial effects as the impact energy increased. These findings suggest that the possibility of customising failure modes and tailor energy absorption capabilities of the proposed structures open the way for new, exciting perspectives for the development of innovative sandwich structures, broadening the application of natural fibres in various industrial sectors. This study introduces a new method for fabricating biphasic architectured structures using self-developed hybrid material extrusion (MEX) process. This approach involves filling the voids of closed-cell structures with a powder material in a single process. The architectured structures were 3D printed using thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and subsequently filled with polyamide 12 (PA12) powder in two distinct configurations: partially filled (50%) and fully filled (100%), named as biphasic architectured structures. Experimental and numerical uniaxial quasistatic compression tests were conducted on partially filled and fully filled local and global closed-cell architectured structures, and their results were compared with those of empty architectured structures. The comparative analysis revealed that the partially filled structures, representing a transitional phase, exhibit enhanced properties which is influenced by the amount of powder filling within the structure. A substantial enhancement in stiffness and specific energy absorption (SEA) was observed in the consolidation phase. The fully filled architectured structures exhibit rapid increase in its loading response, characterized by high stiffness and SEA. Furthermore, this study paves the way for future exploration into strategic filling of multiple powders in different regions, thereby tailoring the mechanical and functional responses. Potential applications include manufacturing components and equipment that absorb energy, provide impact protection, and offer vibration damping and soundproofing capabilities. Based on the hexagonal honeycomb structure and the tri-ligament chiral honeycomb structure, this paper proposes a hybrid material structure with low-frequency elastic wave suppression below 100 Hz. Based on the finite element method and Bloch's theorem, the energy band structure was calculated, and the formation of the band gap and the wave-propagation properties of the structure were carefully studied, the wave attenuation performance of the composite structure was simulated, and the influence of material properties and geometric parameters on the width and position of the band-gap distribution was discussed. The results show that the structure can generate a good band gap in the low-frequency range of 100 Hz, and the wave propagation is suppressed obviously. Demonstrating its potential in practical applications, the research in this paper provides a theoretical basis for the manufacture of low-frequency vibration damping equipment and instruments, and provides a scheme for the design of metamaterials with low-frequency band gaps. The use of waste‐based bio‐fillers in composite manufacturing has increased in recent years due to their sustainable and biodegradable characteristics. The current study fabricates jute/banana (JB) fiber‐reinforced epoxy composites incorporating waste‐derived eggshell (ES) bio‐filler and investigates the effect of ES bio‐filler on the mechanical, morphological, and water absorption properties of the composites. JB fibers (1:1) and varying ES filler contents (5, 10, 15, and 20 wt%) were used to manufacture the composites using the hand lay‐up technique. Their tensile, flexural, and impact properties, microstructure, chemical compositions, and water absorption are then examined. It is found that the composite composed of 15 wt% ES exhibits better tensile and flexural properties with a tensile modulus and strength of 4.42 GPa and 95.27 MPa, and a flexural modulus and strength of 3.96 GPa and 117.47 MPa, respectively, whereas the composite filled with 5 wt% ES shows a maximum impact strength of 46.83 kJ/m2 and drops with increasing bio‐fillers. Scanning electron microscopy reveals that composite failures occur due to jute and banana fiber fractures, filler–fiber‐matrix debonding, fiber pullout, and ES filler agglomeration. Moreover, water absorption reduces as the ES content rises, and the 20 wt% ES filler‐based composite shows a minimum water absorption of 7.67% after 240 h. This study provides some insights to promote the usage of ES bio‐filler in natural fiber composites to improve their mechanical and water absorption properties and their potential applications in the internal structures of automobiles, aircraft, and construction. Sealing treatment provides a strategy for the long-term performance of thermal spray coatings under actual working conditions. However, common sealants are mainly limited to improving the corrosion resistance of coatings, neglecting applications in more complex environments where they are subject to simultaneous corrosion and wear. Herein, a novel organic-inorganic hybrid composite sealant, composed of self-lubricating MoS 2 nanoparticles and environmentally friendly waterborne silicone modified acrylic resin (WBS-ACR), was successfully prepared in the pores and micro-defects of plasma-sprayed HEA coatings by one-step hydrothermal method. The results indicate that MoS 2 nanosheets are uniformly synthesized in resin materials through precursor hydrothermal reactions. The hybrid sealants are filled densely in the micro-defects of HEA coatings with a maximum penetration depth greater than 180 μm. The tribological and electrochemical results indicate that the hybrid sealant exhibits similar anti-wear performance, but two orders of magnitude lower corrosion currents than that of pure MoS 2 sealant. In comparison to the pure resin sealant, the hybrid sealant retains its excellent corrosion resistance while increasing its wear resistance. A hybrid material consisting of an array of vertically ordered carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in porous anodic alumina was fabricated directly on oxidized Si substrates. Individual CNTs with vertical orientation were grown using the catalyst Ni nanoparticles (NPs) embedded in the pore walls of a thin template based on porous anodic alumina with a pore diameter of 40 ± 5 nm. The initial film was a two-layer Ti-Al structure on a Si/SiO 2 substrate. A vertically oriented porous structure was formed by anodizing the Al layer. Electrochemical deposition was used to form the catalyst Ni-NPs with dimensions of 30 ± 5 nm. CNTs were synthesized by high-temperature chemical vapor deposition. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction were used to analyze the surface morphology and microstructure of the composite nanostructures. The CNT length was (0.6–1.5) μm, and the CNT spacing was 110 ± 10 nm. It is expected that the resulting structure will serve as a basis for the development of CNT-based electrodes for electrochemical impedance biosensors. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used for the electrochemical characterization of the fabricated CNT-based electrodes. Building on traditional emulsion polymerization research, which continues to yield results up to the present day, techniques have emerged to produce hybrid materials. One such technique is Pickering emulsion polymerization, with numerous industrial applications. Despite a growing interest in Pickering emulsion polymerization, the intrinsic mechanisms involved have been based mainly on the findings of classical emulsion polymerization. In this work, by relying on a minimum of assumptions and using a simple model and experimental data on conversion and particle size, we obtain information about the prevailing mechanisms. More specifically, we present four main findings based on data reported previously in the literature. First, in contrast to the three rate-of-reaction intervals reported in classical emulsion polymerization, the integro-differential method yielded only two rate-of-reaction intervals against conversion. Second, a master curve is constructed by plotting the reaction rate against overall conversion, showing a maximum of approximately 55% conversion. Third, despite having a semicontinuous process, monomer concentration inside the particles is not constant. Finally, particle density is a strong function of the Pickering agent concentration, where two fitting parameters (nucleation and coagulation) allowed an accurate description for the particle number time evolution. Copper (Cu)-based hybrid composites were fabricated by powder metallurgy, incorporating Graphite (Gr) and Carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforcements at various fractions. The composites were formed using a cold pressing technique and subsequently sintered at various temperatures. The structural properties of the hybrid composites were evaluated using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersion Spectrum (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Hardness, compression, wear and corrosion tests were performed to show the effect of the reinforcements. It was shown that the hardness of Gr and CNT reinforcements have significantly improved the properties of pure Cu. The Cu-Gr-2CNT hybrid composite, which was subjected to sintering at a temperature of 850°C, exhibited the highest level of hardness, showing a significant increase of 51.4% in comparison to the pure Cu sample. While the compressive stresses increased in the Cu matrix with the addition of Cu-Gr, it increased to 350 MPa with the addition of 2 wt% CNT. The hardness value exhibited a similar increase and was measured to be 122 HV in Cu-Gr-2CNT. During the wear tests, the coefficient of friction values fell by 9.2% for Cu-2CNT, by 3.88% for Cu-CNT, by 3.92% for Cu-Gr-2CNT, and by 5.27% for Cu-Gr-CNT, as compared to pure Cu. The comprehensive findings demonstrated that the tests and analyses yielded consistent results, and the utilization of various combinations of Gr and CNT reinforcements enhanced the mechanical, tribological, and corrosion resistance properties of the fabricated hybrid composites. In the current work, the dynamic and buckling properties of hybrid fiber-reinforced polymer composite beams are investigated. The hybrid composite beam is made of polyester matrix, carbon fiber, and jute fiber. The mechanical characteristics of carbon/jute/polyester composites were examined using ASTM standards. Experimental dynamic analysis was performed on jute, carbon, and hybrid carbon/jute composite beams. The validity of a finite element (FE) model based on higher-order theory was examined, and it exhibits outstanding agreement for composite beams when compared to experiments and literature. The hybrid composite beams have a considerable impact on structural stiffness when compared to neat jute/polyester composite beams. In this work, the effects of end conditions, taper angles, and composite layers are also investigated in relation to the dynamic and buckling properties of uniform and tapered hybrid carbon/jute/polyester composite beams. ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF is a multifunctional material for the quantitative detection and simultaneous adsorption of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and metamitron (MET) in aqueous solution. As a dual-emission fluorescent sensor, the ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF has both fluorescence of TCBP-HOF at 474 nm and ETTA-DFP COF at 592 nm, which shows a ratiometric response to 4-NP and MET with high selectivity, good sensitivity, good anti-interference performance and fast response. As a adsorbent, ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF displays rapid adsorption kinetics, and acceptable adsorption capacity for 4-NP and MET. In conclusion, this work constructs a novel multifunctional hybrid material with dual-emission center of HOF and COF, which can not only be used as a ratiometric fluorescent probe for detection, but also for removal of hazardous pollutants, suggesting a new strategy for environmental remediation and human health. [Display omitted] The interlayer distances in layered electrode materials, influenced by the chemical composition of the confined interlayer regions, have a significant impact on their electrochemical performance. Chemical preintercalation of inorganic metal ions affects the interlayer spacing, yet expansion is limited by the hydrated ion radii. Herein, we demonstrate that using varying concentrations of decyltrimethylammonium (DTA+) and cetyltrimethylammonium (CTA+) cations in chemical preintercalation synthesis followed by hydrothermal treatment, the interlayer distance of hybrid bilayered vanadium oxides (BVOs) can be tuned between 11.1 Å and 35.6 Å. Our analyses reveal that these variations in interlayer spacing are due to different amounts of structural water and alkylammonium cations confined within the interlayer regions. Increased concentrations of alkylammonium cations not only expand the interlayer spacing but also induce local bending and disordering of the V-O bilayers. Electrochemical cycling of hybrid BVO electrodes in non-aqueous lithium-ion cells show that specific capacities decrease as interlayer regions expand, suggesting that the densely packed alkylammonium cations obstruct intercalation sites and hinder Li+ ion transport. Furthermore, we found that greater layer separation facilitates the dissolution of active material into the electrolyte, resulting in rapid capacity decay during extended cycling. This study emphasizes that layered electrode materials require both spacious interlayer regions as well as high structural and chemical stabilities, providing guidelines for structural engineering of organic–inorganic hybrids. Basalt-based natural fiber hybrid composites with fillers are always the most anticipated composite material candidates for lightweight structural applications. Current work focusses on the preparation, characterization and testing of Basalt (B)/Hibiscus vitifolius (HV) based epoxy biocomposites with and without cashew nutshell fillers. Individual fiber reinforced composites (with 40 vol% of fibers) and hybrid composites (with 40 vol% of fibers in the ratio 1:1) filled with 10–30 vol% of fillers were manufactured using compression moulding techniques. The X-ray diffraction spectrum showed the crystal size and crystallinity index for all biocomposites. It showed a monoclinic crystal structure with an irregular surface of the fiber and filler. The FTIR spectrum showed the chemical composition presented in the biocomposites. The presence of filler and fibers was confirmed by different spectral peaks. Hybrid biocomposites were then subjected to mechanical and thermal investigations. The mechanical properties of the biocomposites showed that the tensile, flexural, and impact strength of the biocomposites varies with the concentration of the cashew nutshell filler. The surface morphology of the fractured sample showed the presence of fabric layer, fiber fracture and pull out, and homogenous dispersion of the fillers in the biocomposites. Thermal degradation curves showed that the thermal stability of biocomposites is improved by adding filler up to 20 vol% because the filler acted as a barrier element for the thermal degradation of biocomposites. We describe here an immobilization method of four Keggin‐type polyoxometalates (POMs) ([H2W12O40]6−, [BW12O40]5− [SiW12O40]4−, [PW12O40]3−) by using the reaction with an ionic liquid, 1‐butyl‐3‐vinylimidazolium (BVIM) bromide. The reaction yields a hybrid material (BVIM‐POM) as a water‐insoluble salt. The chemical structure of both compounds is preserved, as indicated by infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), although with a reduced crystallinity (shown by X‐ray diffraction analysis) due to a decrease of water content (shown by thermogravimetric analysis). Cross polarization 1H‐31P NMR evidenced the presence of BVIM in the structure of (BVIM)3[PW12O40]. The salt is mixed with carbon powder and Nafion to prepare an ink and casted on glassy carbon electrodes. The electrochemical behavior of immobilized POMs material is preserved. The electrochemical activity for nitrite reduction is measured by cyclic voltammetry and differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS). It was observed that the reduction current of 10 mM HNO2 at pH 1 in 0.5 M Na2SO4 is enhanced in the presence of these hybrid materials. Highlights Ultrasonic methods are more sensitive to defects such as voids, pores, and discontinuities that can diminish the true elastic and acoustic properties of materials compared to destructive testing. Therefore, the elastic properties and some acoustic properties of the epoxy phenol novolac modified with polystyrene (EPN‐PS) matrix‐based nano‐ and hybrid composites were determined for the first time using ultrasonic method. Montmorillonite‐type nanoclay (NC) and industrial red mud waste (RMW) at a rate of 1–4 and 15–35 wt% respectively, were used as fillers in the composite preparation. According to the results, the highest elastic coefficient values (L = 8.14 GPa, G = 1.76 GPa, K = 5.79 GPa and E = 4.80 GPa) were obtained in the EPN‐PS/NC1 (with 1 wt% NC) nanocomposite sample compared to the elastic properties of pure EPN and EPN‐PS, while the highest elastic coefficient values (L = 8.97 GPa, G = 2.19 GPa, K = 6.06 GPa, and E = 5.86 GPa) among hybrid composites (HC) were obtained for the HC35 containing 2 wt. % NC and 35 wt% RMW. Due to both its high elastic and good acoustic properties, wall panels and floors produced using HC35 hybrid composite can be used for sound insulation in noisy environments. First evaluation of the acoustic characteristics of epoxy phenol novolac modified with polystyrene‐nanoclay/red mud waste (EPN‐PS‐NC/RMW) composites. NC4 with 4 wt% nanoclay showed the lowest elastic and acoustic properties. Nanoclay ratio above 1 wt% reduces elastic and acoustic properties. Recently, hexagonal boron nitride (h‐BN) nanomaterials, e.g., nanosheets and nanotubes, have been predicted to be effective materials for reversible gas adsorption with high selectivity once charged. However, despite the encouraging theoretical predictions, sensing with h‐BN is difficult to realize experimentally due to its electrically insulating nature stemming from its large band gap. In this research, the controlled synthesis of high surface area hybrid h‐BN/graphene aerogel is reported, using high‐quality graphene as a template, and its application for selective gas sensing. It is discovered for the first time in this system that the difficulty of conversion in template synthesis of h‐BN is positively correlated with the quality of the carbon template, an observation that is verified on both graphene nanosheets and carbon nanotubes. The application of this hybrid material for gas sensing yields ppb level of detection limit and high selectivity for NH3. Through density functional theory calculations, the adsorption energy and charge transfer between NH3 molecules and aerogel are greatly enhanced. Therefore, this innovative approach promises new possibilities for the application of h‐BN in gas sensing, with the potential to play a significant role in gas capture, environmental monitoring, and other related fields. Highlights This study is an attempt to develop high‐quality hybrid composites via functionalization (for homogeneous distribution) of the graphene nanoplatelets (FGNP) and then doping to carbon fiber reinforced especial aviation epoxy matrix (Araldite LY5052) via vacuum bagging molding (VBM). The utilized materials were characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy, tensile, impact, hardness tests, and fracture mode analysis using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results revealed a 92% (502.5 MPa) and 85% (490 MPa) improvement in tensile strength values by doping the 1 and 1.5 wt% FGNPs, respectively. There was an improvement in impact strength with the addition of FGNP; a 28% (3.23 J/mm2) increase was achieved in the nanocomposite with 1 wt% FGNP added, and there was a decrease again in the nanocomposite with 1.5 wt% FGNP added. However, it was still 12% (2.83 J/mm2) better than the neat composite. In addition, the results of examining the fractured surface structures of the impact and tensile test specimens were compatible with these results. It reveals a significant separation of fiber‐matrix bonds with 1.5 wt% FGNP contribution. While tensile and impact strengths peak at 1 wt% FGNP value and decrease afterward, hardness values increase in parallel with the increase in FGNPs. Composites were developed by functionalized graphene nanoplatelets (FGNP). The fiber‐matrix interface was strengthened with FGNP interphase. A 92% tensile strength increase was achieved with 1 wt% FGNP additives. 28% in impact strength and 55% in hardness increase by 1 wt% FGNP. Highlights The automotive, aerospace, and sports industries are increasingly utilizing hybrid composites made from natural fiber reinforcements. This study evaluated the performance of a composite made from kenaf and pineapple fibers, manufactured using the compression molding process, with graphene nanoparticles added at varying weight concentrations of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt%. Results showed that adding 0.5 wt% graphene increased the tensile, flexural, and impact strength of hybrid composite by 133.75%, 90.24%, and 25.67%, respectively. Microstructural analysis revealed that graphene integration has enhanced the interfacial bond between the fiber and the matrix, creating resin‐rich areas. Furthermore, the free vibrational analysis indicated that graphene‐infused composites exhibited higher natural frequencies, improving their energy‐absorbing capabilities. Water absorption tests demonstrated that the inclusion of graphene reduced water penetration by improving interfacial bonding, minimizing voids, and decreasing surface energy, which limited water pathways in the composite. Furthermore, the composites with 0.5 wt% graphene showed a contact angle of 80.8°, indicating lower hydrophilicity compared to neat composites, which had a contact angle of 70.7°. This research emphasizes the advantages of hybrid composite materials derived from kenaf and pineapple fibers, specifically for applications in vehicle interiors and construction, including wall panels and separators. Hybrid composite was prepared using the compression molding process. Adding 0.5 wt% graphene improved the mechanical properties of composites. Photoelectrochemical devices require solid anodes and cathodes for the easy assembling of the whole cell and thus redox catalysts need to be deposited on the electrodes. Typical catalyst deposition involves drop casting, spin coating, doctor blading or related techniques to generate modified electrodes where the active catalyst in contact with the electrolyte is only a very small fraction of the deposited mass. We have developed a methodology where the redox catalyst is deposited at the electrode based on supramolecular interactions, namely CH‐π and π–π between the catalyst and the surface. This generates a very well‐defined catalysts‐surface structure and electroactivity, together with a very large catalytic response. This approach represents a new anchoring strategy that can be applied to catalytic redox reactions in heterogeneous phase and compared to traditional methods involves about 4–5 orders of magnitude less mass deposition to achieve comparable activity and with very well‐behaved electroactivity and stability. We produced poly(lactic acid) (PLA) matrix carbon fiber and carbon nanotube‐reinforced hybrid composites with enhanced thermal conductivity (0.48–0.59 W/mK) and electrical conductivity (0.35–0.97 S/cm). The conductive fillers greatly decreased the toughness, which was compensated with oligomeric lactic acid (OLA). Since fillers and plasticizers greatly alter the flow and thermal properties of the material as well, it was necessary to optimize several parameters of the injection molding process that were predetermined based on theoretical considerations. Based on oscillatory shear rheometry, we explored the rheological behavior of the materials in a wide temperature and shear rate range for the optimum injection molding temperatures, injection volume rates. We showed that by adding 15 wt% OLA as a plasticizer to the composites, the optimal processing temperature decreased by 45–135°C. This remarkable change illustrates the need for rheological studies of PLA compounds. The injection molded hybrid composites containing 5% oligomeric lactic had a tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, and work of fracture higher by 41%, 10%, and 150%, respectively, compared to samples without OLA. Highlights Wind turbines are subjected to extreme weather and load conditions; hence, high strength and impact resistance are required. Furthermore, wind turbine blades can be subjected to impact loads such as bird strikes, resulting in the formation of microcracks. Self‐healing capsules can be used to mend turbine blades for microscale damage. The incorporation of self‐healing capsules may cause a decrease in the mechanical characteristics of the composites prior to impact resistance, which can be compensated for with efficient fillers such as silicon carbide whiskers (SiCw). Thus, a novel hybrid composite structure is examined with the advantage of using a self‐healing mechanism and SiCw reinforcement. Tensile, tribological, and Charpy impact tests were performed to characterize the mechanical and tribological properties, which were supported with microscopic observations. Multiple experimental characterizations were performed to investigate the impact, and the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and energy absorption capacity of the structure were shown to increase by 32% and 45%, respectively, with the addition of SiCw. The presence of self‐healing agents provides a 5% rise in UTS after enough time for healing following the collision. The structure's tribological performance is improved by 10% in wear resistance and 20% in friction coefficient. In this study, the effects of polypropylene (PP) composites produced by adding 10% old newspaper fibers (ONP), 5% microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), 3% polypropylene carbonate (PPC), and waste toner from 1% to 4% on the mechanical properties, physical properties, morphological, and thermal properties were investigated. According to the FTIR‐ATR and SEM‐EDS analysis results, it was determined that a significant part of the waste toner used in the study consisted of polystyrene co‐acrylate, and the remaining part consisted of carbon black and trace amounts of silicate. In the research, it was determined that the flexural and tensile strengths of MCC/ONP/PP composites containing 1% waste toner and 3% PPC increased by 13% and 46%, respectively, compared to the control sample. Additionally, the samples with the lowest water absorption values were measured in composites containing 1% waste toner and 3% PPC. The highest crystallinity value (50.75%) was obtained with the use of 1% waste toner and 3% PPC in MCC/ONP/PP composites. However, with waste toner usage above 1%, the mechanical, thermal properties, and water absorption rate have slightly decreased. Although lightweight fiber‐reinforced polymer (FRP) composites are widely used in various engineering fields due to their high specific strength and modulus, the mutual exclusion of strength and toughness is one of the bottlenecks in the field of FRP design because of the inherent brittleness of fiber themselves. In this research, discontinuous fiber structures with vertical and bi‐angled slits are introduced into the thin‐ply carbon fiber prepreg. The fracture energy and delamination degree of the center carbon fiber layer could be controlled by adjusting the structural parameters to design the pseudo‐ductility of carbon/glass (C/G) hybrid laminates and obtain the higher pseudo‐yield stress. The hybrid specimens with 20 mm slits exhibit obvious pseudo‐ductility, and the pseudo‐ductility strain increases as the C/G ratio increases, while the plateau stress decreases. The larger slit distance provides sufficient propagation space for the delamination damage, which dissipates tensile energy and results in a smoother plateau area of the stress–strain curve. The stress–strain curve of the specimen with a smaller slit exhibits a noticeable rapid load decrease caused by the transient propagation of delamination damage. The peak stress of hybrid laminate with bi‐angled slits shows the highest pseudo‐yield stress. The present finite element model successfully analyzed the pseudo‐ductile damage propagation of C/G hybrid laminates with vertical slits, and the results are in good agreement with the experiments. Hybrid kenaf/glass fiber reinforced polymer composites have emerged as promising structural materials, garnering significant attention due to their unique blend of natural kenaf fibers and synthetic glass fibers. However, despite their potential, there remains a gap in the comprehensive understanding of their quasi‐static mechanical behavior, creep resistance, and fatigue performance. This paper addresses this gap by presenting recent advancements in studying these key properties of hybrid composites. Studies reveal that the combination of kenaf and glass fibers results in enhanced tensile, flexural, and impact strengths compared to individual fiber composites. Additionally, the hybridization offers improved creep resistance, with the glass fibers reinforcing the polymer matrix against deformation under sustained loads. Furthermore, investigations into fatigue properties demonstrate the resilience of hybrid composites to cyclic loading, contributing to prolonged service life in high‐stress environments. By elucidating the interplay between kenaf and glass fibers, this review underscores the potential of hybrid composites in various structural applications. Electrocatalytic water splitting for green hydrogen production necessitates effective electrocatalysts. Currently, commercial catalysts are primarily platinum-based. Therefore, finding catalysts with comparable catalytic activity but lower cost is essential. This paper describes spinel-structured catalysts containing nickel cobaltite NiCo2O4, graphene, and additionally doped with heteroatoms. The structure and elemental composition of the obtained materials were analyzed by research methods such as TEM, SEM-EDX, XRD, XPS, and Raman spectroscopy. The electrochemical measurements showed that hybrid materials containing nickel cobaltite NiCo2O4 doped with graphene are highly active catalysts in the hydrogen evolution reaction (Tafel slopes = 91 mV dec−1, overpotential = 468 mV and onset potential = -339 mV), while in the oxygen evolution reaction (Tafel slopes = 51 mV dec−1, overpotential = 1752 mV and onset potential = 370 mV), bare NiCo2O4 without the addition of carbon has a worse activity (for HER: Tafel slopes = 120 mV dec−1, overpotential - does not achieve and onset potential = -404 mV, for OER: Tafel slopes = 54 mV dec−1, overpotential = 1796 mV and onset potential = 410 mV). Scintillators, essential for applications in nuclear medicine, radiation detection, and industrial inspection, convert high‐energy radiation into visible light. Manganese (Mn)‐based inorganic–organic hybrid materials are distinguished by their thermal stability, mechanical strength, and flexibility. However, the effects of temperature on Mn(II)‐based hybrid scintillators have not been clearly analyzed, making the elucidation of their temperature‐dependent luminescence mechanisms particularly important. A notable advancement is the synthesis of Mn‐1 nanocrystals (NCs) using methyltriphenylphosphonium chloride (mtppCl) and MnCl₂. These NCs exhibit distinctive temperature‐dependent photoluminescence luminescence: the intensity decreases from 77 to 150 K but paradoxically increases at higher temperatures due to anomalous thermal exciton behavior in the [MnCl₄]2⁻ tetrahedra. Besides, Mn‐1 NCs achieve a detection limit of 1.01 µGyair/s, surpassing medical diagnostic standards and outperforming commercial scintillators such as Bi₄Ge₃O₁₂ (BGO). Additionally, they show exceptional stability under continuous irradiation and can be incorporated into a flexible scintillating film with a resolution of 11.3 lp/mm at an MTF of 0.2. Highlights Hybrid composites have attracted considerable interest from researchers due to their balanced combination of ecological and mechanical properties. This paper examines the physical and mechanical behavior of hybrid composites reinforced with nano‐silica and woven jute/kenaf fiber. The hybrid composites were fabricated using hand layup techniques with varying weight percentages of nano‐silica (1.5, 3, 4.5, and 6 wt%) and three different fiber layering sequences (JKJK, JKKJ, and KJJK). The mechanical properties, including tensile, flexural, interlaminar shear strength, impact resistance, and hardness, along with the physical properties such as density and moisture absorption, are evaluated for the fabricated composite samples. The jute/kenaf composite fabricated with KJJK layering sequence and 4.5 wt% nano‐silica particles exhibited reduced void content (1.983%) and low moisture absorption (4.87%). The addition of 4.5 wt% nano‐silica to KJJK composites achieved a maximum tensile strength of 86.38 ± 2.9 MPa and a maximum tensile modulus of 4.238 ± 0.094 GPa. In KJJK hybrid composites, the incorporation of 4.5 wt% nano‐silica led to a 70.11% increase in flexural strength and a 47.05% increase in flexural modulus. Surface morphological analysis of the specimens was conducted using SEM to examine cracks, fiber pullout, and different failure modes within the hybrid composite. Developed the jute/kenaf composites with 1.5, 3, 4.5, and 6 wt% of nano‐silica. Nano‐silica into jute/kenaf composites reduced void content and moisture absorption. The composites with 4.5 wt% nano‐silica had better mechanical properties. Layering sequence jute and kenaf affect the mechanical properties. Highlights In recent years, natural fibers have been commonly used to reinforce various polymers, resulting in composites with excellent mechanical properties. To address the challenge of delamination and significant fiber pull‐out in inter‐laminar hybrid composites during stretching, this study focused on preparing intra‐laminar hybrid textile composites using basalt fibers (BFs) and jute fibers (JFs) as raw materials. Moreover, the mechanical properties of BF/JF intra‐layer blended fabric composites were investigated. The prepared composites underwent tensile, flexural, impact, and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The results indicated that intra‐laminar blended composites demonstrated superior mechanical properties compared to inter‐laminar blended fabric composites. The DMA results revealed that the intra‐laminar blended composites featured a high peak loss factor. Morphological analysis indicated enhanced stress transfer from fiber‐to‐fiber and fiber‐to‐matrix in the intra‐laminar blended composites. Fiber blending can expand the application areas of natural fibers. Fiber blending can reduce interlayer damage. Intra‐layer blending differs from interlayer hybrid composites. Highlights This paper investigates how combining natural and synthetic fibers within yarns, altering the degree of hybridisation, and varying weave architectures affect the homogenized elastic properties and stress distributions in 2D woven composite laminae using a two‐scale homogenization scheme. The novelty lies in integrating a micro‐scale representative volume element model with a meso‐scale repeating unit cell model to capture intra‐yarn natural/synthetic fiber hybridisation. The study focuses on 2/2 twill and 5‐harness satin woven laminae with flax/E‐glass, hemp/E‐glass and basalt/E‐glass hybrid yarns, all with a total fiber volume fraction of 0.6. Fiber distributions are created through a random sequential expansion algorithm for hybrid RVEs, while periodic meso‐structures are used to define weave architectures for RUCs. Results show that yarn‐level fiber hybridisation significantly influences matrix stress distributions, with variations of up to 22%. In contrast, weave architecture has a minimal effect, with variations in homogenized properties below 2%. Varying fiber types, degrees of hybridisation and weave architectures allow for the tailoring of yarn and lamina properties and altering the stress distributions at micro‐ and meso‐scales and potentially influencing damage mechanisms. The modeling approach for analyzing the mechanical behavior of intra‐yarn hybrid natural/synthetic woven laminae could potentially be used to tailor their tolerance to damage. Various aspects of the new development of organic-inorganic hybrid [N(CH3)4]2MnCl4 single crystals have been discussed. The phase transition temperatures were determined to be 268 K (TC2) and 291 K (TC1), and the thermodynamic stability was maintained at temperatures up to 669 K. The crystal structures at 250 K (phase III), 275 K (phase II), and 300 K (phase I) are monoclinic, orthorhombic, and orthorhombic, respectively. Notably, while the 1H and 13C chemical shifts gradually changed near TC1 and TC2, the 14N resonance frequency exhibited a split in the number of signals near TC1. Furthermore, the shorter spin-lattice relaxation time T1ρ of 1H than that of 13C suggests facile energy transfer for1H. Additionally, analysing the temperature dependencies of T1ρ for 13C revealed that the activation energy Ea in phase I is approximately five times greater than those in phases III and II. The high Ea observed in phase I primarily stems from the collective motion of the N(CH3)4 group, which contrasts with the considerable freedom observed for the CH3 group in phases III and II. In today's world, the efficient preparation of clean energy has become a problem for every country. Hydrogen is a very clean and easy to prepare energy source. In this paper, a hybrid materials of (Fe 6 (OH) 12 (CO 3)) and sulphide (Ni 9 S 8 /Co 9 S 8) was demonstrated as a catalytic electrode for efficient oxidation reaction in seawater and urea. The catalysts were prepared by a three-step hydrothermal-sulfuration-hydrothermal reaction, and the layered composites of hydroxides and sulfides were co-grown into nano-arrays, which exposed more reaction centers and shortened the electron transfer path. The three metal cations were also able to demonstrate different corrosion resistance and excellent adsorption properties for different environments, allowing the catalyst to present better electrochemical activity in seawater as well as in urea solution. In the oxidation reaction in urea solution (1 M KOH+0.5 M urea), the required voltage was only 1.33 V at a current intensity of 50 mA/cm2, and in the water oxidation reaction in seawater, the required voltage was only 1.47 V at a current intensity of 50 mA/cm2 for Ni 9 S 8 @Co 9 S 8 @Fe 6 (OH) 12 (CO 3). Unfortunately, the durability of the catalyst need to be improved, the current density dropped from 40 mA/cm2 to 35 mA/cm2 and then remained for 12 h. Meanwhile, the comparison of electrochemical performance tests was performed before and after the IT test, it can be clearly seen that the overall performance of Ni 9 S 8 @Co 9 S 8 @Fe 6 (OH) 12 (CO 3) decreased after the stability test, which may be related to the shedding of active species from the surface of the catalyst. As you can see through density functional theory (DFT) that Ni 9 S 8 can promote the adsorption energy of urea and Co 9 S 8 lowers the barrier to electron conduction. Many conjectures were made and confirmed in this study, and finally, it is hoped that seawater as well as industrial wastewater can be better utilized for the production of clean energy. Modern polymer‐based technical components not only have to fulfill demanding mechanical‐structural properties but need to integrate different functions to yield hybrid systems for complex operations. Typically, neither materials nor processing technologies are fully compatible with each other. The aim of the work is to combine the advantages of seemingly incompatible manufacturing processes such as high‐volume injection molding (IM) and precision additive manufacturing to produce functional and customized hybrid materials. IM is widely used for polymer processing but stands against high investment costs for tailor‐made molds with high‐resolution features. They focus on overprinting of injection‐molded parts made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) with microstructures via projection‐microstereolithography (PµSL) to generate hybrid polymer materials with spatially tailored stiffness, enabling selective reinforcement, resulting in an E modulus increase of 195% compared to mere IM‐processed TPU. With that, the hybridization of processing methods is showcased to extend the product properties of polymer materials obtained via either IM or PµSL printing that have, prospectively, a maximum degree of individualization as well as a multitude of structural and functional features at the same time. To assess the impact of elastic gradients formed among restorative material, cement, and substrate on the fracture resistance of tri-layer restorative systems. Four CAD/CAM materials were utilized, two glass-ceramics (IPS e.max CAD, Vita Suprinity) and two resin-ceramic hybrids (Vita Enamic, Lava Ultimate). Their fracture resistance was examined by biaxial flexure (n = 8) and Hertzian indentation (n = 10) tests. Statistical analysis was conducted using ANOVA and Tukey tests (p = 5 %). Finite element analysis (FEA) was employed to simulate the Hertzian indentation test and elucidate the stress-fields formed on the intaglio surface below the loading area. The biaxial flexural strength (MPa) of glass-ceramics exceeded the hybrid materials (e.max 417a, Suprinity 230b, Enamic 138c, and Lava Ultimate 183bc). Conversely, the load-bearing capacity (N) of the materials bonded to dentin analog demonstrated the opposite trend, with the hybrid materials achieving superior results (e.max 830 C, Suprinity 660D, Enamic 1822B, and Lava Ultimate 2593 A). The stress-fields observed by FEA were coherent with the experimental results for Hertzian flexural stresses (MPa): e.max 501 A, Suprinity 342 C, Enamic 406B, whereas no tensile stress was observed at the intaglio surface of Lava Ultimate. Detailed analysis of the fracture resistance of the tri-layer restorative systems showed that the elastic gradients play a more significant role than the flexural strength of the restorative materials. Hydrogels are promising materials for medical devices interfacing with neural tissues due to their similar mechanical properties. Traditional hydrogel‐based bio‐interfaces lack sufficient electrical conductivity, relying on low ionic conductivity, which limits signal transduction distance. Conducting polymer hydrogels offer enhanced ionic and electronic conductivities and biocompatibility but often face challenges in processability and require aggressive polymerization methods. Herein, we demonstrate in situ enzymatic polymerization of π‐conjugated monomers in a hyaluronan (HA)‐based hydrogel bioink to create cell‐compatible, electrically conductive hydrogel structures. These structures were fabricated using 3D bioprinting of HA‐based bioinks loaded with conjugated monomers, followed by enzymatic polymerization via horseradish peroxidase. This process increased the hydrogels' stiffness from about 0.6 to 1.5 kPa and modified their electroactivity. The components and polymerization process were well‐tolerated by human primary dermal fibroblasts and PC12 cells. This work presents a novel method to fabricate cytocompatible and conductive hydrogels suitable for bioprinting. These hybrid materials combine tissue‐like mechanical properties with mixed ionic and electronic conductivity, providing new ways to use electricity to influence cell behavior in a native‐like microenvironment. Needle-like CoO nanowires have been successfully synthesized by a facile hydrothermal process on an electrospun carbon nanofibers substrate. The as-prepared sample mesoporous CoO nanowires aligned vertically on the surface of carbon nanofibers and cross-linked with each other, producing loosely porous nanostructures. These hybrid composite electrodes exhibit a high specific capacitance of 1068.3 F g−1 at a scan rate of 5 mV s−1 and a good rate capability of 613.7 F g−1 at a scan rate of 60 mV s−1 in a three-electrode cell. The CoO NWs@CNF//CNT@CNF asymmetric device exhibits remarkable cycling stability and delivers a capacitance of 79.3 F/g with a capacitance retention of 92.1 % after 10,000 cycles. The asymmetric device delivers a high energy density of 37 Wh kg−1 with a power density of 0.8 kW kg−1 and a high power density of 16 kW kg−1 with an energy density of 23 Wh kg−1. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline materials characterized by their porous structures, formed through coordination bonding between metal ions/clusters and multidentate organic linkers. MOFs have emerged as a significant class of materials with applications in energy storage, CO2 adsorption, and catalysis. This study serves as a brief introduction to the currently available synthesis methods of MOFs, aimed at acquainting beginners in the field of chemical engineering with the ongoing developments in MOF research. The discussed synthesis methods encompass traditional solvothermal/hydrothermal approaches, microwave synthesis of MOFs, one-pot synthesis, MOF nanocomposites, isothermal synthesis, and fluid-fluid synthesis. Notably, the MOF/NH2/Fe3O4 combination exhibited enhanced adsorption capacity of 618 mg/g and retained an efficiency of over 90 %. This study displays a valuable technique for designing functional MOF hybrid composites. To enhance the fire safety performance in polystyrene (PS), a novel organic–inorganic hybrid material (FGO–AHP) was successfully prepared by the combination of functionalized graphene oxide (FGO) and aluminum hypophosphite (AHP) via a chemical deposition method. The resulting FGO–AHP nanohybrids were incorporated into PS via a masterbatch-melt blending to produce PS/FGO–AHP nanocomposites. Scanning electron microscope images confirm the homogeneous dispersion and exfoliation state of FGO–AHP in the PS matrix. Incorporating FGO–AHP significantly improves the thermal behavior and fire safety performance of PS. By incorporating 5 wt% FGO–AHP, the maximum mass loss rate (MMLR) in air, total heat release (THR), and maximum smoke density value (Dsmax) of PS nanocomposite achieve a reduction of 53.1%, 23.4%, and 50.9%, respectively, as compared to the pure PS. In addition, thermogravimetry–Fourier transform infrared (TG–FTIR) results indicate that introducing FGO–AHP notably inhibits the evolution of volatile products from PS decomposition. Further, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy were employed to investigate the char residue of PS nanocomposite samples, elaborating the flame-retardant mechanism in PS/FGO–AHP nanocomposites. A tremendous amount of waste black tea bags (BTBs) and date palm surface fibers (DPSFs), at the end of their life cycle, end up in landfills, leading to increased pollution and an increase in the negative impact on the environment. Therefore, this study aims to utilize these normally wasted materials efficiently by developing new composite materials for thermal insulation and sound absorption. Five insulation composite boards were developed, two were bound (BTB or DPSF with polyvinyl Acetate resin (PVA)) and three were hybrids (BTB, DPSF, and resin). In addition, the loose raw waste materials (BTB and DPSF) were tested separately with no binder. Thermal conductivity and sound absorption coefficients were determined for all boards. Thermal stability analysis was reported for the components of the tea bag (string, label, and bag) and one of the composite hybrid boards. Mechanical properties of the boards such as flexural strain, flexural stress, and flexural elastic modulus were determined for the bound and hybrid composites. The results showed that the thermal conductivity coefficients for all the hybrid composite sample boards are less than 0.07 at the ambient temperature of 24 °C and they were enhanced as the BTB ratio was reduced in the hybrid composite boards. The noise reduction coefficient for bound and all hybrid composite samples is greater than 0.37. The composite samples are thermally stable up to 291 °C. Most composite samples have a high flexure modulus between 4.3 MPa and 10.5 MPa. The tea bag raw materials and the composite samples have a low moisture content below 2.25%. These output results seem promising and encouraging using such developed sample boards as eco-friendly thermal insulation and sound absorption and competing with the synthetic ones developed from petrochemicals in building insulation. Moreover, returning these waste materials to circulation and producing new eco-friendly composites can reduce the number of landfills, the level of environmental pollution, and the use of synthetic materials made from fossil resources. TiO2-C (carbon) hybrid materials are promising electrocatalyst supports because the presence of TiO2 results in enhanced stability. Use of new types of carbonaceous materials such as reduced graphene oxide instead of traditional active carbon provides certain benefits. Although the rutile polymorph of TiO2 seems to have the most beneficial properties in these hybrid materials, the anatase type is more frequent in TiO2-rGO composites, especially in graphite oxide (GO) derived ones, as GO has several properties which may interfere with rutile formation. To explore and evaluate these peculiarities and their influence on the composite formation, we compared TiO2-C systems formulated with GO and Black Pearls (BP) carbon. Various physicochemical methods, such as attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR)-, solid state NMR-, Raman- and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), electron microscopy, etc. were used to characterize the samples from the different stages of our multistep sol–gel synthesis. Our experiments demonstrated that utilization of GO is indeed feasible for composite preparation, although its sodium contamination has to be removed during the synthesis. On the other hand, high temperature treatment and/or solvothermal treatment during composite synthesis resulted in decomposition of the functional groups of the GO and the functional properties of the final product were similar in case of both composites. However, Pt/TiO2-GO derived sample showed higher oxygen reduction reaction activity than Pt/TiO2-BP derived one. The development of manufacturing industries is crucial for national progress, with a growing emphasis on green and sustainable practices. This study investigates the development and performance of hybrid polymer composites based on poly lactic acid (PLA) reinforced with lignocellulosic fillers: bagasse fiber (BF), tamarind seed fiber (TSF), Terminalia chebula fiber (TCF), and a hybrid filler of bagasse, tamarind seed, and Terminalia chebula (BTSTCF). Five types of composites were fabricated with varying filler compositions: PLA, PLA/BF, PLA/TSF, PLA/TCF, and PLA/BTSTCF, consisting of 30% BF, TSF, or TCF with 70% PLA, and an additional 10% of each filler in the BTSTCF composite. The results demonstrated that the PLA/BTSTCF hybrid composite outperformed others regarding mechanical strength, thermal stability, and interfacial adhesion. Specifically, it exhibited superior flexural strength, impact strength, and tensile strength. The findings indicate that incorporating a combination of bagasse, tamarind seed, and Terminalia chebula fillers into PLA significantly enhances its properties and performance. Diamond containing nitrogen‐vacancy centers (NV−) is one of the most investigated materials for quantum technologies, because of this system's exceptional spin properties. Although the NV− optical transition is very bright, it suffers from spectral diffusion and weak zero‐phonon line, and is in the visible range. This limits integration into quantum photonic structures and interfacing with optical fiber networks. In contrast, rare earth (RE) ions exhibit extremely narrow and stable optical transitions, including erbium's 1.5 µm telecom wavelength. Combining RE with NV− properties through short‐range interactions is however challenging as RE do not readily enter the diamond lattice. In this work, a thin‐film‐based architecture in which RE and NV− centers can interact while preserving their unique properties is introduced. Thin films of Er3+:Y2O3 are grown by chemical vapor deposition on diamond substrates with well‐crystallized and highly textured structures. An extensive spectroscopic study of Er3+ transitions at room and low temperatures further reveals that photoluminescence spectra and decays are close to bulk materials. It is also shown that Y2O3 thin film deposition has no detrimental effects on NV− optical and spin properties. Over traditional flame retardants, the hybrid material technology of flame retardant combines separate constituents into an entirety, demonstrating the benefit of the simultaneous development in polymer flame retardant. Zinc-layered hydroxide, borate, and thermoplastic polyurethane were used to create LZH/B/TU, a new organic-inorganic composite flame retardant. The structure of LZH, LZH/B, and LZH/B/TU was studied after synthesis with analysis spectroscopy. The borate ion was effectively intercalated into the interlayer space of the LZH, according to the XRD and FTIR studies. Using EDS analysis, the chemical makeup of the materials was assessed. The morphology of the synthesized product was identified using FESEM. The dynamic mechanical thermal (DMT) properties of the optimum sample were evaluated with DMTA analysis. The fire risk of epoxy resin was considerably reduced by using a small amount of LZH/B/TU. According to the flammability test and plate temperature experiment, LZH/B/TU with 1% w/w led to the creation of the char layer's capacity to insulate heat with strong thermal resistance, resulting in dramatically reduced fire hazards. In this study, we report the development of a hybrid polymer material comprising poly(butyl methacrylate) and titania, which exhibits the three key elements of visible-light transparency, UV shielding, and self-healing. Nanodispersion of titania in the polymers was achieved using the sol – gel method using titanium propoxide as the raw material. Furthermore, by adding tetrabutylphosphonium chloride, an ionic liquid, we suppressed visible light absorption due to charge transfer between poly(butyl methacrylate) and titania, resulting in enhanced visible light transmittance. An approach involving crosslinking points comprising Diels – Alder functional groups was used to heal scratches in the hybrid material at 75°C for 30 min. Dynamic viscoelastic measurements and microscopic observations were conducted to investigate the self-healing mechanism. These findings suggested that this phenomenon occurred through the fluidization of the polymer matrix and the recombination reaction of the crosslinking points, which comprise Diels – Alder and titania. The development of intelligent materials with combined transparency, UV protection, and self-healing capabilities provides potential avenues for future research to enhance and broaden their versatile characteristics for widespread applications. Metal–organic frameworks (MOF) have been vigorously investigated as hybrid materials in recent decades due to their exceptional structural versatility and applications in diverse fields. The development of novel MOFs for radiation detection and luminescence-based dosimetry is the latest topic of interest. In this contribution, we have synthesized and characterized a Uranyl MOF, which shows an optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) phenomenon induced by ionizing radiation. OSL dosimetric studies were carried out on Uranyl MOF, which revealed that MOF has a linear dose–response up to 100 Gy with a 1.1 Gy minimum detection dose. It also shows good reusability, around 30% fading in one day, very low fading beyond one day to 30 days, and decent radiation stability (stable up to 10 kGy). Preliminary dosimetry results are promising and show that Uranyl MOF can be utilized in the field of low-dose radiation processing applications in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study examines how different stacking sequences of bamboo and flax fibers, treated with 5% aqueous sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and filled with 6wt% titanium oxide (TiO2), affect the physical, mechanical and dry sliding wear resistance properties of a hybrid composite. Design/methodology/approach: Composites with different fiber stacking arrangements were developed and tested per American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards to evaluate physical, mechanical and wear resistance properties, focusing on the impact of flax fiber mats at intermediate and outer layers. Findings: The hybrid composite significantly outperformed composites reinforced solely with bamboo fibers, showing a 65.95% increase in tensile strength, a 53.29% boost in flexural strength and a 91.01% improvement in impact strength. The configuration with multiple layers of flax fiber mat at intermediate and outer levels also demonstrated superior wear resistance. Originality/value: This study highlights the critical role of stacking order in optimizing the mechanical properties and wear resistance of hybrid composites. This work is an attempt to evaluate the effect of multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) reinforcement on the properties of non-crimp fabric (NCF) carbon fiber-reinforced polymer hybrid composite (CFRP). MWCNT NCF-CFRP plates were produced by vacuum infusion. Epoxy-MWCNT mixtures were prepared by adding a surfactant, Triton-X 100, and ethanol and mixing ultrasonically. The plates were subjected to thermal and electrical conductivity, DSC and FT-IR characterizations, and tensile testing. SEM image analyses evaluated tensile fracture surfaces. Results showed that 0.5 wt% MWCNT-reinforced nanocomposite samples exhibited better tensile properties than pure NCF-CFRP composites and other nanocomposite samples. The 1.5% MWCNT reinforced sample was the best conductor at all temperatures. The temperature increases also increase the conductivity. However, the conductivity value of 0.5% MWCNT reinforced material increased significantly at low frequencies such as 100–10,000 Hz. The heat reaction of the 0.5 wt% MWCNT nanocomposite was also a bit higher than that of 1–1.5 % wt MWCNT nanocomposites, indicating a decrease in the cure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Environmental awareness has driven a crucial search for biodegradable materials. Over the past few decades, the machining of these materials, particularly through drilling, has garnered significant research interest. This study presents an evaluation of the drilling performance of a hybrid composite (jute/glass), considering factors such as the concentration of chemical treatment with sodium bicarbonate, the type of glass fiber (random or woven), the degree of hybridization between the jute and glass fibers, and cutting parameters like rotation speed, feed rate, and drill diameter. Drilling operations were conducted to determine the maximum temperature in the cutting zone, the surface roughness of the drilled holes, and the maximum delamination factor. A Sobol sensitivity analysis was performed to identify the input parameters influencing these responses studied. Predictive modeling of the results based on the input factors was then conducted using the deep neural network (DNN) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) approaches. The results show that the type of glass fiber significantly affects surface roughness, while rotation speed primarily influences cutting temperature. Similarly, the drill diameter directly impacts the maximum delamination factor. Finally, the predictive modeling demonstrates that the ANN-IGWO models provide the best predictions of drilling parameters compared to the ANN-GA and ANFIS models, with mean absolute errors ranging from 1.22 to 12%.
