Ma (1996) described Gaeolaelaps debilis as a new species from China, being just one female collected from the nest of Daurian ground squirrel, Spermophilus dauricus Brandt (Rodentia: Sciuridae), in the Jilin Province. Then he presented a supplementary description of this species, based on female and deutonymph specimens collected from soil in same province from China (Ma 2004); but they both lack some of the most important details concerning leg chaetotaxy and do not provide enough information for accurate and consistent species identification. In this paper, we redescribe the adult female of G. debilis (Ma, 1996) based on the newly collected specimens from new localities in China, Iran and the Russian Far East. Our work includes the first description of the male of this species. Moreover, a key to the species of Gaeolaelaps with setae st1 off sternal shield is presented.

This checklist comprises all species of Hydrophilidae (Coleoptera: Hydrophiloidea) quoted in the literature referring to Iran and confirmed by our study. In total, 104 species within 17 genera and five subfamilies, Hydrophilinae (eight genera, 63 species), Chaetarthriinae (three genera, five species), Enochrinae (single genus, 20 species), Acidocerinae (single genus, three species) and Sphaeridiinae (four genera, 13 species), are listed for the fauna of Iran. Three species are endemic; four species are recorded here for the first time from Iran, and nine species are excluded from Iranian fauna.

Anthocoris golestanicus sp. n. (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Anthocoridae) is described from Golestan province (northern Iran). The species was collected on Rubus hyrcanus (Linnaeus) (Rosaceae) as the predator of Aphis idaei van der Goot, 1912 (Hemiptera: Aphididae) and Aleurocanthus zizyphi Priesner et Hosny, 1934 (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae). Updated list of Iranian Anthocoris is given. With this new species, the total number of Iranian Anthocoris reaches to 16 species.

According to our analysis of literature sources on the family Hydraenidae (Coleoptera: Staphylinoidea) of Iran, it is represented by 67 species and three genera: Hydraena Kugelann, 1794 (21 species), Limnebius Leach, 1815 (six species) and Ochthebius Leach, 1815 (40 species). Twenty-two species are supposed to be endemic to Iran. Here, for the first time, we summarize species distribution data in Iranian provinces and present them in a checklist of Iranian Hydraenidae. The authors report on the presence of species of the family Tarsonemidae in association with three bark beetle species (Orthotomicus erosus (Wollaston, 1857), Scolytus scolytus (Fabricius, 1775), and S. multistriatus (Marsham, 1802)) in two provinces in Central and Northern Iran. The following mite species are new for the fauna of Iran: Heterotarsonemus hajekae Smiley and Moser, 1985, H. magowskii Khaustov, 2001, and Tarsonemus crassus (Schaarschmidt, 1959). The genus Heterotarsonemus is newly recorded in Asia. The new record of H. hajekae is the second ever known in the world and H. magowskii is now established as new phoront of the bark beetle host O. erosus. Tarsonemus crassus is recorded outside the Europe for the first time. The taxonomy, identification, relationships with beetle hosts, and biogeography of the newly recorded mite species are briefly discussed.

Darılmaz, Mustafa Cemal ( Aksaray, Yazar ), The fauna of Iranian Dytiscidae (Coleoptera) is reviewed listing all hitherto known distribution records. Comments on taxonomy, identification and nomenclature are provided. The type locality is also given for each species originally described from Iran. One species, Rhantus (Rhantus) frontalis (Marsham, 1802) is new for the fauna of Iran. According to the literature and the new record, 140 dytiscid taxa representing 32 genera are at present known from Iran. Four species, Deronectes sahlbergi Zimmermann, 1932, Hydroporus nigrita (Fabricius, 1792), Hygrotus (Hygrotus) versicolor (Schaller, 1783), and Nebrioporus insignis (Klug, 1834) are doubtful. Five taxa, Agabus (Acatodes) elongatus (Gyllenhal, 1826), Coptotomus interrogatus (Fabricius, 1801), Hydaticus (Guignotites) fabricii (MacLeay, 1825), Hydroporus bodemeyeri bodemeyeri Ganglbauer, 1900, and Pachydrus sp. are excluded from the fauna of Iran.

The checklist comprises all species of six families of Iranian aquatic Polyphaga (Coleoptera). In total, 43 species/subspecies within the families, Georissidae (one species), Helophoridae (25 species and two subspecies), Hydrochidae (three species), Spercheidae (one species), Curculionidae (nine species) and Erirhinidae (two species) are listed for the fauna of Iran. Helophorus (Rhopalohelophorus) nanus Sturm, 1836 (Helophoridae) is recorded for the first time from Iran. A new melicharid mite belonging to the genus Orthadenella Athias-Henriot (1973), namely Orthadenella multipilisaccula sp. nov., is described. It was collected from forest soil in northern Iran. By having different shapes of spermathecal apparatus and tectum, and different sizes of legs and some dorsal idiosomal setae, it can be distinguished from Orthadenella lawrencei (Evans, 1958), a closely related species. A new species, Orius (Heterorius) linnavuorii Moulet, Ghahari & Ostovan sp. nov. (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Anthocoridae), is described from Semnan Province (Iran). The species was collected on Acer velutinum, and confirmed as a predator of Asterobemisia atraphaxius. A checklist of 18 Iranian Orius species is provided.

A new species of Prozercon Sellnick, 1943, P. iranensis sp.n., is described on the basis of material collected in Iran. The new species is morphologically related to P. dominiaki Blaszak, 1979, but can easily be distinguished from the latter by the unusual form of opisthonotal setae and the different position of glands gdZ3.

317 specimens of Dolichopodidae were collected and 19 species were identified to species or genus level. Three dolichopodid species [Medetera jacula (Fallén, 1823), Rhaphium albifrons Zetterstedt, 1843 and Thrypticus bellus Loew, 1869] are recorded for the first time from Iran. The new distribution of 11 genera and 16 species in the Markazi and Lorestan Provinces are presented.

The Iranian fauna of the Cimicidae and Largidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) is summarized in this paper. In total, 2 species from 2 genera of Cimicidae and single species of Largidae are listed.

Cotton has different economic value and two spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae) is a serious pest in field crops around the world. The aim of this study was to assess demographic parameters of T. urticae on cotton. This study was under laboratory conditions: (28 ± 2)°C, (60 ± 5) Rh% and (L:D) (16:8) h on cotton leaf discs. Intrinsic rate of increase (rm ), net reproductive rate (R 0), finite rate of increase (λ), doubling time (DT) and generation time (T) were: 0.233 ± 0.006, 40.01 ± 3.33, 1.26 ± 0.01, 2.98 ± 0.08 and 15.86 ± 0.30. Net fertility rate, net fecundity rate and gross hatch rate calculated 53.34 ± 4.53, 57.35 ± 4.87 and 0.93 ± 0.00. The results showed that (ex ) life expectancy had a peak on day 16.25 and maximum egg per day was 9.52 on day 19. The results of our study provide the efficiency of its natural enemies in fields under environmental conditions.

The development, life history, reproduction, and population growth parameters of Planococcus citri Risso on coleus [Solenostemon scutellarioides (L.) Codd.] were studied at various temperatures ranging from 10 to 37?C, 70?10% RH, and photoperiod length of 16: 8 h (L: D). Females and males successfully developed into adults at from 15 to 32?C and 18 to 32?C, respectively. All first instars died at 10, 12, and 37?C. Lower temperatures (10, 12, and 15?C) caused higher egg mortality than did higher temperatures (32, 35, and 37?C). At all temperatures (except 15?C), the highest percentage of nymphal mortality was observed in the first instar. The sex ratio was female-biased between 15 and 30?C, but there was a slightly higher number of males at 32?C. The highest adult longevities of females and males were obtained at 18 and 25?C, respectively. The pre-oviposition, oviposition, and post-oviposition periods were significantly different at various temperatures. The highest fecundity was observed at 23?C. The shortest and longest oviposition periods occurred at 32 and 18?C, respectively. Maximum values of the intrinsic rate of natural increase (rm), net reproduction rate (R0), and finite rate of increase (?) and the shortest mean generation time (T) and doubling time (DT) were obtained at 25?C. Our findings showed citrus mealybug performances to be highly affected by temperature.

Data are given on the distribution of 18 species of Tachinidae collected from Fars province, 9 of which are new for Iran and all of which are reported for the first time from Fars province.

During a survey on the mites associated with stored rice and decayed rice bran in northern Iran, Guilan province, four species of Stigmaeidae (Acari: Prostigmata) were found. All four species, namely Stigmaeus elongatus Berlese, Stigmaeus candidus Fan and Li, Storchia pacifica (Summers) and Storchia robusta (Berlese), are new to the fauna of Guilan province, and S. pacifica is new to Iran. Keys are provided for all the species of Storchia in the world and species of Stigmaeus found in Iran and neighboring countries. Stigmaeus mazandaranicus Faraji and Ueckermann is recognized as a junior synonym of S. candidus.

In this study, we establish the presence of 24 aquatic beetle (Coleoptera: Polyphaga) species belonging to 13 genera and five families in Markazi Province of Central Iran. Specimens were collected between 2001 and 2005. Eleven species and four genera are recorded from Iran for the first time. The ecological significance of the new records is briefly discussed. .

A catalog of aquatic and semiaquatic Heteroptera from Iran is provided based on literature reports and field collections. Representatives of 107 species and morphospecies of the infraorders Dipsocoromorpha, Enicocephalomorpha, Gerromorpha, Leptopodomorpha, and Nepomorpha are listed, and are distributed in 18 families including Aphelocheiridae (1 genus, 1 species), Belostomatidae (1 genus, 1 species), Corixidae (8 genera, 29 species), Dipsocoridae (1 genus, 2 species), Enicocephalidae (2 genera, 2 species), Gerridae (6 genera, 18 species), Hebridae (1 genus, 5 species), Helotrephidae (1 genus, 1 species), Hydrometridae (1 genus, 2 species), Leptopodidae (4 genera, 7 species), Mesoveliidae (1 genus, 2 species), Naucoridae (1 genus, 1 species), Nepidae (3 genera, 5 species), Notonectidae (2 genera, 8 species), Ochteridae (1 genus, 1 species), Pleidae (1 genus, 1 species), Saldidae (5 genera, 14 species), and Veliidae (2 genera, 7 species). Synonyms and geographical distribution of all the species are given, together with an identification key of families. According to the actual catalogs and studies eight species are doubtful for Iranian fauna.

The fauna of Iranian Histeridae (Coleoptera: Histeroidea) is summarized. In total, 127 species and subspecies from 37 genera and six subfamilies are reported from Iran: Abraeinae (eight species, four genera), Dendrophilinae (nine species, seven genera), Haeteriinae (three species, two genera), Histerinae (34 species, nine genera), Saprininae (71 species, 13 genera), and Tribalinae (two species, two genera). New country records are reported for Dendrophilus (Dendrophilus) punctatus championi Lewis, 1886 and Margarinotus (Paralister) carbonarius carbonarius (Hoffmann, 1803).

The published data on Iranian Anthocoridae (Hemiptera) are summarized in this paper. In total 51 species of three subfamilies Anthocorinae, Lyctocorinae and Scolopinae within 10 genera ( Amphiareus Distant, Anthocoris Fallen, Buchananiella Reuter, Cardiastethus Fieber, Dufouriellus Kirkaldy, Elatophilus Reuter, Lyctocoris Hahn, Orius Wolff, Temnostethus Fieber, and Xylocoris Dufour) are listed as the fauna of Iran. Xylocoris ( Xylocoris ) ciliatus (Jakovlev, 1877) is new record for the fauna of Iran.

Hypoaspis elegans sp. nov. was collected on adult female Oryctes elegans Prell. (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) in Bam, Kerman province, Iran. The new species is described and illustrated from adult females. Hypoaspis surii Khanjani et. al., 2013 is a junior synonym of Hypoaspis maryamae JoharchiHalliday, 2011. A key to the Western Palaearctic species of Hypoaspis is presented.

Larvae of two closely related species Cassida palaestina Reiche, 1858 and Cassida rubiginosa Müller, 1776 are described in detail including SEM microstructures. First instars are extremely similar with no clear diagnostic characters, larvae of Cassida palaestina are slightly more contrastingly coloured than larvae of C. rubiginosa, the latter having darker scoli, basal part of supra-anal processes and legs. Last instars differ in very subtle but constant characters: lateral scoli of C. palaestina are slightly shorter than those of C. rubiginosa, in C. palaestina tops of the lateral branches are armed apically with an elongate cauliflower-shaped sensillum while in C. rubiginosa tops of the lateral branches are more often armed with a pointed seta than with an elongate cauliflower-shaped sensillum, and cauliflower-shaped sensilla on tergites are less elongate in C. palaestina than in C. rubiginosa. These differences accompanied by distinguishing characters of adults and their distribution range indicate that both taxa are probably vicariant species with partial parapatric occurrence. Centaurea behen is a new host plant for C. palaestina.

An annotated checklist of Myxophaga (Hydroscaphidae and Sphaeriusidae) and Adephaga (including Gyrinidae, Haliplidae, Noteridae, Rhysodidae) from Iran is compiled. The total number of taxa include 39 species of 15 genera. The family Haliplidae is represented by 15 species, Gyrinidae by 12 species, Noteridae by seven species, Rhysodidae by three species, and Hydroscaphidae and Sphaeriusidae by one species each. Two species, Gyrinus (Gyrinus) dejeani Brullé 1832 (Gyrinidae) and Haliplus (Haliplidius) confinis Stephens 1828 (Haliplidae) are new records for the fauna of Iran.

The distribution of Dryopidae and Heteroceridae (Coleoptera: Byrrhoidea) of Iran is summarized. A total of ten species of Dryopidae in three genera (Dryops Olivier, Parahelichus Lobl & Smetana, and Praehelichus Lobl & Smetana), and 18 species of Heteroceridae in two genera (Augyles Schiodte and Heterocerus Fabricius) are listed. Augyles hispidulus (Kiesenwetter, 1843) (Heteroceridae) is recorded from Iran for the first time.

A study of Iranian Coreoidea, Alydidae excluded, has brought new geographical data on these bugs. Ninety-five species in 34 genera of three families, including, Coreidae (53 species), Rhopalidae (33 species), and Stenocephalidae (9 species), are listed as the fauna of Iran. The following species of Coreidae are new for the Iranian fauna: Fracastorius cornutus Distant 1902, Homoeocerus albiguttulus Stål 1873, and Prismatocerus borealis (Distant 1918).

Two new species of the prostigmatic mite genus Adamystis Cunliffe, 1957—A. theroni sp. nov. and A. ueckermanni sp. nov.—from Fars province, Iran are described and illustrated based on female specimens collected from soil, humus and leaf litter under oak trees (Quercus brantii Lindl, 1840 ). Adamystis theroni sp. nov. differs from its congeners in having a smooth dorsal shield encompassing setal rows c, d and e, chelicera with two setae, lateral lip with three adoral setae, and coxal setation of 2-4-4-4. Adamystis ueckermanni sp. nov.is unique in having the trichobothrial pair sci placed far apart from each other, and the large dorsal shield with a mixed reticulation pattern encompassing setal rows c, d, e, f and h. A diagnostic key to the four species of Adamystis known from Iran is also given.

Neoseiulus paspalivorus is a new record for Iranian mite fauna. It is re-described and illustrated. Some setal lengths of Proprioseiopsis messor collected in Iran show deviations from those of the holotype and re-descriptions from the other countries. This species is re-described and illustrated based on the material collected in Iran.

A new species of Adamystidae is described, Adamystis iranoturanianensis sp. nov. These mites were collected from soil, humus and litter in the southern parts of the Kamfiruz Region in Fars, Iran. This family comprises 16 species including the new species described herein. The new species differs from the other members of this family by: the fused, punctate and reticulate endopodal shield; possessing two pairs of plates in the genital region; and the unique coxal formula 1-3-2-2. This is the first record of this family from Iran.

A new mite species, Ledermuelleriopsis dogani sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on material collected from Euonymus japonicus Thunberg (Celastraceae) and Pinus pinea L. (Pinaceae) at Marvdasht, Fars province. The dorsal setae of the new species are clavate-spinose and the coxisternal shields are smooth. A key to all known world species of the genus is given.

Iran’ın güneyinde yer alan Fars İli’nde Asilidae faunasını belirlemek amacıyla 2006-2007 yıllarında arazi çalışması yapıldı. Apocleinae (5 tür), Asilinae (7 tür), Dasypogoninae (2 tür), Laphriinae (2 tür), Laphystiinae (1 tür), Leptogastrinae (1 tür) ve Stenopogoninae (8 tür) alt familyalarından toplam 19 cinse bağlı 26 tür belirlendi. Bu türlerden 5’i İran faunası için yeni kayıt olurken, iki alt familya, 10 cins ve 22 tür de Fars İli’nden ilk defa kaydedildi. Ayrıca, her türün yayılış bilgileri eklendi., Fars province in the south of Iran was surveyed for Asilidae (Insecta: Diptera) during 2006–2007. Twenty six species, belonging to 19 genera and 7 subfamilies: Apocleinae (5 species), Asilinae (7 species), Dasypogoninae (2 species), Laphriinae (2 species), Laphystiinae (1 species), Leptogastrinae (1 species) and Stenopogoninae (8 species), were recorded. Of these, 5 species are new to the fauna of Iran. Additionally 2 subfamilies, 10 genera, and 22 species were recorded for the first time from Fars province. Distributional data for each species are included.

Adult female Paraseiulus triporus (Chant & Yoshida-Shaul) and Proprioseiopsis dacus (Wainstein) are redescribed and illustrated based on specimens collected in Iran. These two species were collected from citrus trees in Mazandaran Province, Tonekabon County. The morphology of the mites collected in Iran is compared with that given in the original descriptions. Proprioseiopsis dacus is recorded for the first time in Iran.

Neothrombium mojdehii sp. nov. (Acari: Neothrombiidae) is described and illustrated from a larva ectoparasitic on adults of Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa L. (Orthoptera: Gryllotalpidae) from Kazerun, Iran. A key to species (larva) of Neothrombium of the world is presented.

Four new species of Leptus are described: L. nikanori from plants in Costa Rica, L. filipinae from undetermined Lampyridae (Coleoptera) in Costa Rica, from undetermined Heteroptera and plants in Belize and Mexico; L. simonettae from undetermined Acrididae and plants in Guatemala and Honduras and L. onnae from plants in Mexico. A key for larvae of Leptus from Neotropical and Nearctic Regions is provided.
