Background: As the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic continues, medical workers may have allostatic load. Objective: During the reopening of society, medical and nonmedical workers were compared in terms of allostatic load. Methods: An online study was performed; 3,590 Chinese subjects were analyzed. Socio-demographic variables, allostatic load, stress, abnormal illness behavior, global well-being, mental status, and social support were assessed. Results: There was no difference in allostatic load in medical workers compared to nonmedical workers (15.8 vs. 17.8%; p = 0.22). Multivariate conditional logistic regression revealed that anxiety (OR = 1.24; 95% CI 1.18–1.31; p < 0.01), depression (OR = 1.23; 95% CI 1.17–1.29; p < 0.01), somatization (OR = 1.20; 95% CI 1.14–1.25; p < 0.01), hostility (OR = 1.24; 95% CI 1.18–1.30; p < 0.01), and abnormal illness behavior (OR = 1.49; 95% CI 1.34–1.66; p < 0.01) were positively associated with allostatic load, while objective support (OR = 0.84; 95% CI 0.78–0.89; p < 0.01), subjective support (OR = 0.84; 95% CI 0.80–0.88; p < 0.01), utilization of support (OR = 0.80; 95% CI 0.72–0.88; p < 0.01), social support (OR = 0.90; 95% CI 0.87–0.93; p < 0.01), and global well-being (OR = 0.30; 95% CI 0.22–0.41; p < 0.01) were negatively associated. Conclusions: In the post-COVID-19 epidemic time, medical and nonmedical workers had similar allostatic load. Psychological distress and abnormal illness behavior were risk factors for it, while social support could relieve it.

To assess the effect and safety of Hydroxysafflor Yellow A for Injection (HSYAI) in treating patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and blood stasis syndrome (BSS).A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, multiple-dose, active-controlled phase II trial was conducted at 9 centers in China from July 2013 to September 2015. Patients with moderate or severe AIS and BSS were randomly assigned to low-, medium-, high-dose HSYAI groups (25, 50 and 70 mg/d HSYAI by intravenous infusion, respectively), and a control group (Dengzhan Xixin Injection (, DZXXI) 30 mL/d by intravenous infusion), for 14 consecutive days. The primary outcome was the Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score ⩽1 at days 90 after treatment. The secondary outcomes included the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score ⩽1, Barthel Index (BI) score ⩾95, and BSS score reduced ⩾30% from baseline at days 14, 30, 60, and 90 after treatment. The safety outcomes included any adverse events during 90 days after treatment.Of the 266 patients included in the effectiveness analysis, 66, 67, 65 and 68 cases were in the low-, medium-, and high-dose HSYAI and control groups, respectively. The proportions of patients in the medium- and high-dose HSYAI groups with mRS score ⩽1 at days 90 after treatment were significantly larger than the control group (P0.05). The incidences of favorable outcomes of NIHSS and BI at days 90 after treatment as well as satisfactory improvement of BSS at days 30 and 60 after treatment in the medium- and high-dose HSYAI groups were all significantly higher than the control group (P0.05). No significant difference was reported among the 4 groups in any specific adverse events (P0.05).HSYAI was safe and well-tolerated at all doses for treating AIS patients with BSS. The medium (50 mg/d) or high dose (75 mg/d) might be the optimal dose for a phase III trial. (Registration No. ChiCTR-2000029608).

Small interfering RNA (siRNA)-based therapeutics have the potential to treat a series of hereditary and acquired diseases. However, one serious obstacle for siRNA therapy is the lack of an efficient strategy to transport the siRNA to the targeted organ/cell with minimal toxicity. To take advantage of the good biocompatibility and degradability of natural polymers, and to understand how the peptide sequence affects the properties of the vector, four biomimetic vectors (D10-K3H7, D10-R3H7, D20-K3H7, and D20-R3H7) were designed and synthesized by conjugating the peptide (K3H7 or R3H7) and dextran with a molecular weight of 10 or 20 kDa. Taking the commercial cellular transfection reagent Lipofectime RNAiMAX as a control, dextran-peptide/siRNA complexes exhibited smaller particle sizes, lower ζ potentials, and lower toxicity with the same value of N/P ratio. To evaluate the potential of this system for therapeutics, siRNA targeting the mRNA of the PCSK9 gene was chosen as a gene drug model to knock down the PCSK9 expression in the HepG2 cell line. Dextran-peptide/siRNA complexes exhibit a more consistent and higher knockdown efficiency than Lipofectamine RNAiMAX/PCSK9 siRNA complexes in a medium with 20% fetal bovine serum (FBS). D20-R3H7/PCSK9 siRNA complexes could knock down the level of PCSK9 mRNA by 85.2%, and they demonstrated a higher efficiency than Lipofectamine RNAiMAX, having 70.5% knockdown in the medium with 20% FBS at the PCSK9 siRNA concentration of 100 nM. These results suggest that the dextran-peptide-based vector has more efficient therapeutic agent properties for a siRNA-based drug transporter.

The efficacy and safety of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK-9) inhibitors were confirmed by several clinical trials, but its effectiveness in routine clinical practice in China has not been evaluated. This study aims to describe the real world effectiveness of PCSK-9 inhibitors combined with statins compared with statins-based therapy among patients with very high risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).This is a multi-center observational study, enrolled patients from 32 hospitals who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) from January to June in 2019. There are 453 patients treated with PCSK-9 inhibitors combined with statins in PCSK-9 inhibitor group and 2,610 patients treated with statins-based lipid lowering therapies in statins-based group. The lipid control rate and incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) over six months were compared between two groups. A propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis was used to balance two groups on confounding factors. Survival analysis using Kaplan-Meier methods was applied for MACE.In a total of 3,063 patients, 89.91% of patients had received moderate or high-intensity statins-based therapy before PCI, but only 9.47% of patients had low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels below 1.4 mmol/L at baseline. In the PSM selected patients, LDL-C level was reduced by 42.57% in PCSK-9 inhibitor group and 30.81% (In the real world, PCSK-9 inhibitors combined with statins could significantly reduce LDL-C levels among patients with very high risk of ASCVD in China. The long-term clinical benefits for patients received PCSK-9 inhibitor to reduce the risk of MACE is still unclear and requires further study.

Bioresorbable polymers, including polyesters and polypeptides, are being widely used in the medical field. However, these materials still suffer from some long-standing challenges, such as material-induced blood coagulation, foreign body response, non-adjustable degradation rate, and absence of elastic properties. In this work, we explored a new approach to address these challenges by incorporating critical anti-fouling, improved mechanical and controllable degradation properties into the existing bioresorbable polymers. We synthesized a set of zwitterionic thermoplastic polyurethanes, which consist of degradable polycaprolactone diols as soft segments and faster hydrolyzable carboxybetaine (CB) diols as chain extenders. Differential scanning calorimetry and temperature sweep rheology revealed thermal transition performance and thermoplastic behavior of the polymers. The calorimetric study observed that CB-based chain extender played a critical role in the crystallization process by affecting the structure and crystallization temperature. Cell attachment study demonstrated that the degradable zwitterionic polyurethane surfaces highly resist cell attachment even after being submerged in 100% fetal bovine serum for two weeks. The gold standard PEG-based degradable polyurethane showed the initial resistance to the cell attachment for one day and then failed after three days. This work clearly shows that the adaption of existing materials with slightly better anti-fouling properties is unlikely to solve these long-lasting challenges. Our design approach and the material platform with critical anti-fouling properties and other desired tunable properties show the potential to address these complications associated with existing bioresorbable polymers. This method can be adapted to design customized bioresorbable polymers for a wide range of applications, including implantable biomedical devices and drug delivery.

Nucleic acid (NA)-based therapy was put forward as a promising method to conquer serious human diseases. Safe and robust gene vectors play an important role in NA delivery processes. In this work, a novel ABA-triblock hydroxyl-rich cationic polyrotaxane PP-PGEA, consisting of one polyethylene glycol backbone, CD-PGEA (composed of one cyclodextrin (CD) core and three ethanolamine (EA)-functionalized poly(glycidyl methacrylate) arms) assembly units, and degradable end-capping polypeptide segments, was prepared as a promising NA delivery system. PP-PGEA has low cytotoxicity and degradability, beneficial to the NA delivery process. The breakdown of end-capping polypeptides could benefit the disassembly of PP-PGEA within cells. PP-PGEA demonstrated substantially higher transfection performances than CD-PGEA assembly units. PP-PGEA was also shown to possess remarkable anti-cancer capability through glioma models. Such a high-performance cationic polyrotaxane with terminal polypeptides would provide a very promising means to produce efficient delivery vectors of versatile NAs.

The development of a method for the Pd(ii)-catalyzed denitrogenative coupling of arylhydrazines to give functionalized biaryls in good yield, using aryl bromides or aryl iodides as convenient and inexpensive aryl sources, is reported. High functional group tolerance is demonstrated for electronically distinct arylhydrazines as well as aryl halides. The desired products were isolated in good to excellent yields for 58 examples. Control experiments and mechanism studies revealed that the transformation undergoes a base-promoted Pd-catalyzed process.

Background: Not all adults with chronic insomnia respond to the recommended therapeutic options of cognitive behavioral therapy and approved hypnotic drugs. Transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) may offer a novel potential treatment modality for insomnia. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the efficacy and safety of tACS for treating adult patients with chronic insomnia. Methods: Sixty-two participants with chronic primary insomnia received 20 daily 40-min, 77.5-Hz, 15-mA sessions of active or sham tACS targeting the forehead and both mastoid areas in the laboratory on weekdays for 4 consecutive weeks, followed by a 4-week follow-up period. The primary outcome was response rate measured by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) at week 8. Secondary outcomes were remission rate, insomnia severity, sleep onset latency (SOL), total sleep time (TST), sleep efficiency, sleep quality, daily disturbances, and adverse events at the end of the 4-week intervention and at the 4-week follow-up. Results: Of 62 randomized patients, 60 completed the trial. During the 4-week intervention, 1 subject per group withdrew due to loss of interest and time restriction, respectively. Based on PSQI, at 4-week follow-up, the active group had a higher response rate compared to the sham group (53.4% [16/30] vs. 16.7% [5/30], p = 0.009), but remission rates were not different between groups. At the end of the 4-week intervention, the active group had higher response and remission rates than the sham group (p < 0.001 and p = 0.026, respectively). During the trial, compared with the sham group, the active group showed a statistically significant decrease in PSQI total score, a shortened SOL, an increased TST, improved sleep efficiency, and improved sleep quality (p < 0.05 or p < 0.001). Post hoc analysis revealed that, in comparison with the sham group, the active group had improved symptoms, except for daily disturbances, at the end of the 4-week intervention, and significant improvements in all symptoms at the 4-week follow-up. No adverse events or serious adverse responses occurred during the study. Conclusion: The findings show that the tACS applied in the present study has potential as an effective and safe intervention for chronic insomnia within 8 weeks.

Nucleic acid-based gene therapy is a promising treatment option to cure numerous intractable diseases. For non-viral gene carriers, low-molecular-weight polymeric vectors generally demonstrate poor transfection performance, but benefit their final removals from the body. Recently, it was reported that aminated poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) is one potential gene vector. Based on ethylenediamine (ED)-functionalized low-molecular-weight PGMA (denoted by PGED), a flexible strategy was herein proposed to design new well-defined reducible cationic nanogels (denoted by PGED-NGs) with friendly crosslinking reagents for highly efficient nucleic acid delivery. α-Lipoic acid (LA), one natural antioxidant in human body, was readily introduced into ED-functionalized PGMA and crosslinked to produce cationic PGED-NGs with plentiful reducible lipoyl groups. PGED-NGs could effectively complex plasmid DNA (pDNA) and short interfering RNA (siRNA). Compared with pristine PGED, PGED-NGs exhibited much better performance of pDNA transfection. PGED-NGs also could efficiently transport MALAT1 siRNA (siR-M) into hepatoma cells and significantly suppressed the cancer cell proliferation and migration. The present work indicated that reducible cationic nanogels involving LA crosslinking reagents are one kind of competitive candidates for high-performance nucleic acid delivery systems. Statement of Significance Recently, the design of new types of high-performance nanoparticles is of great significance in delivering therapeutics. Nucleic acid-based therapy is a promising treatment option to cure numerous intractable diseases. A facile and straightforward strategy to fabricate safe nucleic acid delivery nanovectors is highly desirable. In this work, based on ethylenediamine-functionalized low-molecular-weight poly(glycidyl methacrylate), a flexible strategy was proposed to design new well-defined reducible cationic nanogels (denoted by PGED-NGs) with α-Lipoic acid, one friendly crosslinking reagent, for highly efficient nucleic acid delivery. Such PGED-NGs possess plentiful reducible lipoyl groups, effectively encapsulated pDNA and siRNA and exhibited excellent abilities of nucleic acid delivery. The present work indicated that reducible cationic nanogels involving α-lipoic acid crosslinking reagents are one kind of competitive candidates for high-performance nucleic acid delivery systems.

Among various polymeric gene delivery systems, peptide-based vectors demonstrate great potential owing to their unique structure and properties, including flexibility; however, there is insufficient molecular understanding of the role and properties of amino acids as building blocks in gene delivery. In this work, we constructed a series of histidine (H)-containing peptide-grafted dextran (D-RxHy) vectors via a simple two-step reaction of dextran with five RxHyC peptides: R7H3C, R5H3C, R5H5C, R3H5C, and R3H7C. The gel electrophoresis study unveiled the DNA-binding ability of H residues. While all D-RxHy vectors possess similarly low cytotoxicity, D-R3H7 exhibited the highest gene transfection efficiency. Interestingly, at the low nitrogen to phosphate (N/P) ratio of 2, D-R3H7 displayed a 6–8-fold higher luciferase expression compared to the gold standard branched PEI (25k). D-R3H7 and D-R5H5 demonstrated favorable cell uptake rates. A chloroquine-treated transfection assay confirmed the key effect of the high buffering capacity of H-rich D-R3H7 on its high gene transfection efficiency, especially at low N/P ratios. The present work unveiled that histidine is critical for both DNA condensation and the accurate control of endosomal escape. The tunable D-RxHy platform not only demonstrates promising potential for therapeutic purposes but can also be used as a tool to elucidate the molecular mechanism of polymer-based transfection.

Nucleic acid (NA)-based therapy is promising for tissue repair, such as skin and bone defect therapy. However, bacterial infections often occur in the process of tissue healing. The ideal treatment of tissue repair requires both anti-infection and simultaneous tissue healing. The epidermal growth factor (EGF) plays an important role in wound healing processes. In this work, degradable antibacterial gene vectors based on tobramycin (clinically relevant antibiotic) conjugated poly(aspartic acid) (TPT) are proposed as multifunctional delivery nanosystems of plasmid encoding EGF (pEGF) to realize the antibacterial therapy and tissue healing of infected skin defects. TPT has low cytotoxicity and good degradability, which is helpful in the NA delivery process. TPT demonstrates good transfection performances and hemocompatibility, as well as excellent antibacterial activities in vitro. The outstanding pEGF delivery ability of TPT and the bioactivity of expressed EGF facilitate the proliferation of fibroblast cells. The effective in vivo infected skin defect therapy is also demonstrated with TPT/pEGF nanocomplexes, where skin tissue healing is promoted. The present work opens new avenues for the design of multifunctional delivery nanosystems with antibacterial ability to treat infected tissue defect.

Owing to their unique properties such as low cytotoxicity and excellent biocompatibility, poly(aspartic acid) (PAsp) and polysaccharides are good candidates for the development of new biomaterials. In order to construct better gene delivery systems by combining polysaccharides with PAsp, in this work, a general strategy is described for preparing series of polysaccharide-graft-PAsp (including cyclodextrin (CD), dextran (Dex) and chitosan (CS)) gene vectors. Such different polysaccharide-based vectors are compared systematically through a series of experiments including degradability, pDNA condensation capability, cytotoxicity and gene transfection ability. They possess good degradability, which would benefit the release of pDNA from the complexes. They exhibit significantly lower cytotoxicity than the control 'gold-standard' polyethylenimine (PEI, ∼25kDa). More importantly, the gene transfection efficiency of Dex- and CS-based vectors is 12-14-fold higher than CD-based ones. This present study indicates that properly grafting degradable PAsp from polysaccharide backbones is an effective means of producing a new class of degradable biomaterials.

Polypeptide-based degradable polyplexes attracted considerable attention in drug delivery systems. Polysaccharides including cyclodextrin (CD), dextran, and chitosan (CS) were readily grafted with cationic poly(aspartic acid)s (PAsps). To further enhance the transfection performances of PAsp-based polyplexes, herein, different types of ligand (folic acid, FA)-functionalized degradable polyplexes were proposed based on the PAsp-grafted chitosan-cyclodextrin conjugate (CCPE), where multiple β-CDs were tied on a CS chain. The FA-functionalized CCPE (i.e., CCPE-FA) was obtained via a host-guest interaction between the CD units of CCPE and the adamantane (Ad) species of Ad-modified FA (Ad-FA). The resulting CCPE/pDNA, CCPE-FA/pDNA, and ternary CCPE-FA/CCPE/pDNA (prepared by layer-by-layer assembly) polyplexes were investigated in detail using different cell lines. The CCPE-based polyplexes displayed much higher transfection efficiencies than the CS-based polyplexes reported earlier by us. The ternary polyplexes of CCPE-FA/CCPE/pDNA produced excellent gene transfection abilities in the folate receptor (FR)-positive tumor cells. This work would provide a promising means to produce highly efficient polyplexes for future gene therapy applications.

Phenylboronic acid (PBA) possesses good affinities to glycoproteins on cell surfaces, as well as stable fluorescence properties. Recently, it was found that ethanolamine (EA)-decorated poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA), namely PGEA, exhibited promising applications as effective gene vectors. In this work, a strategy to prepare series of starlike PGEA vectors (s-PGEA-B) with flanking PBA groups was proposed for the development of highly efficient multifunctional gene delivery systems. Compared with the s-PGEA vectors without PBA groups, the corresponding s-PGEA-B counterparts showed a greater ability to bind pDNA. The sizes of the formed s-PGEA-B/pDNA nanoparticles were ∼100 nm at higher N/P ratios. The s-PGEA-B/pDNA complexes exhibited enhanced cellular internalization and transfection efficiencies, particularly in the cell lines with abundant cell surface glycoproteins. The cellular internalization mediated by s-PGEA-B with 30% of PBA content was about 85% in HepG2 cells, much higher than that of the corresponding s-PGEA (about 53%). In addition, the simultaneous fluorescence emitted from s-PGEA-B provided convenient observation for locating gene vectors during the transfection processes. This present work provides new useful information for the design of multifunctional gene delivery systems.

The development of safe and effective supramolecular polycations has attracted much attention. In this work, a series of novel cyclodextrin (CD)-based supramolecular assemblies were readily prepared via the host–guest interaction by assembling different adamantane-functionalized α-CD derivatives with multiple β-CD-cored polycations. The supramolecular assemblies were investigated in terms of their pDNA-binding capabilities, cytotoxicities, cellular internalization and gene transfection efficiencies in HEK293, HepG2 and C6 cell lines. The supramolecular polycations displayed low cytotoxicities, similar to those of the CD-cored carriers. After self-assemblies, the gene transfection efficiencies and antitumor abilities of the supramolecular carriers were significantly enhanced. The present study demonstrates that such supramolecular preparation of CD-based polycations could provide a flexible strategy for the design and development of new assemblies with high efficiency and low cytotoxicity.

According to the special construction environment and curing conditions of the freezing shaft inner and outer shaft lining in deep alluvium, first,configuration principle of high strength high performance concrete of freezing shaft in deep alluvium is proposed; Then raw materials are selected according to the preparation approach, and preparation experimental study of high strength high performance concrete is conducted with C60, C65, C70and C75 , and the optimum mixture ratio is obtained, and applied to the engineering practice, achieving remarkable effect.

Plain concrete is susceptible to cracking under aggressive environment such as in freezing shaft. And addition of steel fibres in plain high strength concrete is proved to be effective in cracking resistance and brittleness improvement, etc. This paper presents results of experimental investigation carried out to study the mechanical properties of steel fibre-reinforced concrete having volume fractions of 0.38%, 0.51% and 0.64% for two types of fibres respectively. The results of this study revealed that there is an increase for all the mechanical properties such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, modulus of elasticity and flexural strength. Enhancement for split tensile strength and flexural strength is more evident than compressive strength.

For the economic and reasonable application of high strength composite shaft lining of steel and concrete, the mechanical characteristic of this kind of structure were studied. First of all, according to the similarity theory, the shaft lining model is designed, then making the specimen and the loading test are put into effect. The results show that the combined action of inner and outer steel tube and middle concrete improves their respective performance. In shaft lining structure the stability of steel tube would be enhanced and the brittleness of high strength concrete would be improved also, so shaft lining structure shows fairly plastic feature when it is destroyed. Moreover, because of the restraint function of double-layer plate, the concrete in shaft lining structure completely is in triaxial compression stress state, the compressive strength can improve 1.53 ~ 1.90 times more than the concrete under uniaxial compression. The bearing capacity of shaft lining also increased greatly. Therefore, it is proposed that the improvement coefficient of the concrete’s compressive strength should be considered in the strength calculation of high composite shaft lining structure of steel and concrete.

Nucleic acid-based therapy specially needs a safe and robust delivery vector. Herein, a novel fluorinated acid-labile branched hydroxyl-rich polycation (ARP-F) is proposed for the flexible and effective delivery nanovector of different plasmids including reporter genes and the Cas9 plasmid. Acid-responsive polycation (ARP) with plentiful ortho ester linkages and hydroxyl groups is first synthesized via a facile one-pot ring-opening polymerization, followed by decoration of fluorinated alkyl chains onto ARP to achieve ARP-F. ARP-F possesses good pH-responsive degradability, biocompatibility, and its preliminary transfection ability evaluated by reporter plasmids pRL-CMV (encoding Renilla luciferase) and pEGFP-N1 (encoding enhanced green fluorescent protein) is also excellent. CRISPR-Cas9 (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat/CRISPR-associated nuclease 9) technology is a potent genome-editing tool. The subsequent delivery of pCas9-surv (one typical all-in-one Cas9 plasmid) mediated by ARP-F exhibits impressive in vitro and in vivo tumor inhibition performances. In addition, the combination of ARP-F/pCas9-surv with temozolomide could further enhance tumor inhibition activities by increasing the sensitivity of cancer cells to anticancer drugs. Such high-performance polycation would provide a very promising means to produce efficient delivery nanovectors of versatile plasmids.

The delivery of tumor-suppressive noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) including short ncRNAs (i.e., miRNAs) and long ncRNAs (lncRNAs) is put forward to treat tumors. In this work, novel rodlike supramolecular nanoassemblies (CNC @CB[8] @ PGEA) of degradable poly(aspartic acid) (PAsp) derivatives-grafted cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) and hydroxyl-rich polycations (ethanolamine-functionalized poly(glycidyl methacrylate), PGEA) are proposed via typical cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8])-based host-guest interactions for delivery of different ncRNAs to treat hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Spindly CNCs, one kind of natural polysaccharide nanoparticles, possess good biocompatibility and unique physico-chemical properties. PGEA with abundant hydroxyl groups is one promising gene carrier with low cytotoxicity. PAsp can benefit the disassembly and degradability of nanoassemblies within cells. CNC @ CB[8]@PGEA combines the different unique properties of CNC, PGEA, and PAsp. CNC @ CB[8] @ PGEA effectively complexes the expression constructs of miR-101 (plasmid pc3.0-miR-101) and lncRNA MEG3 (plasmid pc3.0-MEG3). CNC @ CB[8] @ PGEA produces much better transfection performances than PGEA-containing assembly units. In addition, the codelivery system of CNC @ CB[8] @ PGEA/(pc3.0-MEG3+pc3.0-miR-101) nanocomplexes demonstrates better efficacy in suppressing HCC than CNC @ CB[8] @ PGEA/pc3.0-MEG3 or CNC @ CB[8] @ PGEA/pc3.0-miR-101 nanocomplexes alone. Such rodlike supramolecular nanoassemblies will provide a promising means to produce efficient delivery vectors of versatile tumor-suppressive nucleic acids.

To evaluate and compare the clinical effect of camphophenic (CP) and iodoform used as intracanal medication in root canal therapy for periapical periodontitis, 305 teeth suffering from periapical periodontitis in 245 subjects were divided into two groups. The experimental group of 163 teeth was treated with CP and iodoform, while the control group of 142 teeth was treated with CP alone. The clinical effect after 10 days was observed. The result showed that the response rate in the teeth treated with CP and iodoform was 92.64%, significantly higher than that in the teeth treated with CP alone (79.58%), P0.01.
