Esmolol hydrochloride injection is indicated for the rapid control of ventricular rate in patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter in perioperative, postoperative, or other emergent circumstances where short term control of ventricular rate with a short-acting agent is desirable. The potential toxic impurities in pharmaceuticals at micro levels or trace levels are of increasing concern to both pharmaceutical industries and regulatory agencies, due to their potential risk to human health. The impurity investigation of esmolol remains incomplete. Thereby, efficient impurities monitoring and potential toxicity assessment should be emphasized to assure drug safety. Impurity profiling methods of esmolol were developed using ultraperformance liquid chromatography plus Q-Exactive Orbitrap tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-QE-MS) based multiple mass defect filter and chemometrics. Impurities were characterized by both UPLC-QE-MS and reference substance comparison. The toxicities of esmolol impurities were predicted by employing quantitative structure–activity relationship. The results showed that a total of 20 impurities were detected and identified using the above integrated strategy, 14 impurities (EP2-3, EP5-6, EP8-9, EP12-13, EP15-20) have firstly found. EP20 was predicted as hepatotoxic and mutagenic using QSAR model, and its hepatotoxicity were verified in vivo. The EP1 contents showed maximum volatility in all batches, and varied by sample. EP1 and its accompanying product of methanol were measured. This UPLC-MS/MS based chemometrics strategy is useful for monitoring the manufacturing process and quality control of esmolol hydrochloride injection.

Nowadays, anyone carrying a mobile device can enjoy the various location-based services provided by the Internet of Things (IoT). ‘Aggregate nearest neighbor query’ is a new type of location-based query which asks the question, ‘what is the best location for a given group of people to gather?’ There are numerous, promising applications for this type of query, but it needs to be done in a secure and private way. Therefore, a trajectory privacy-preserving scheme, based on a trusted anonymous server (TAS) is proposed. Specifically, in the snapshot queries, the TAS generates a group request that satisfies the spatial K-anonymity for the group of users—to prevent the location-based service provider (LSP) from an inference attack—and in continuous queries, the TAS determines whether the group request needs to be resent by detecting whether the users will leave their secure areas, so as to reduce the probability that the LSP reconstructs the users’ real trajectories. Furthermore, an aggregate nearest neighbor query algorithm based on strategy optimization, is adopted, to minimize the overhead of the LSP. The response speed of the results is improved by narrowing the search scope of the points of interest (POIs) and speeding up the prune of the non-nearest neighbors. The security analysis and simulation results demonstrated that our proposed scheme could protect the users’ location and trajectory privacy, and the response speed and communication overhead of the service, were superior to other peer algorithms, both in the snapshot and continuous queries.

Unlike conventional scalar sensors, camera sensors at different positions can capture a variety of views of an object. Based on this intrinsic property, a novel model called full-view coverage was proposed. We study the problem that how to select the minimum number of sensors to guarantee the full-view coverage for the given region of interest (ROI). To tackle this issue, we derive the constraint condition of the sensor positions for full-view neighborhood coverage with the minimum number of nodes around the point. Next, we prove that the full-view area coverage can be approximately guaranteed, as long as the regular hexagons decided by the virtual grid are seamlessly stitched. Then we present two solutions for camera sensor networks in two different deployment strategies. By computing the theoretically optimal length of the virtual grids, we put forward the deployment pattern algorithm (DPA) in the deterministic implementation. To reduce the redundancy in random deployment, we come up with a local neighboring-optimal selection algorithm (LNSA) for achieving the full-view coverage. Finally, extensive simulation results show the feasibility of our proposed solutions.

For the purpose of balancing node energy consumption in Wireless Sensor Networks and in the premise of considering network coverage, a kind of node broadcasting scheme at fixed intervals under variational acceleration straight-line movement model is proposed in this paper. Simulation results illustrate that the approach proposed in this paper has a superior performance on balance of energy consumption compared to IEA method and uniform broadcasting as well as random broadcasting methods. And the energy saving effect is close to that of the theoretical deployment model of data fusion and nondata fusion.

Au nanoparticle-decorated Dy2(WO4)3 nanocomposites were prepared by reduction of HAuCl4 on the surface of Dy2(WO4)3 nanobelts which were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The formation of nanocomposites was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Au-Dy2(WO4)3 based electrochemical sensor was fabricated by spreading Au-Dy2(WO4)3 aqueous solution on the surface of glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) methods. The prepared sensor exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity, stability, reproducibility and selectivity with well-separated oxidation peaks toward the electrooxidation of uric acid (UA) and nitrite (NO2−). Electrochemical determination of these two biomolecules in their mixture solution showed linear responses in the ranges of 0.04–1.0 mmol/L with a detection limit of 15 μmol/L for UA, and 0.01–1.0 mmol/L with a detection limit of 3.5 μmol/L for NO2−. The sensor can be applied in determination of UA and NO2− in human urine samples.

Mobile crowd sensing (MCS) is a novel sensing paradigm which can sense human-centered daily activities and the surrounding environment. The impact of mobility and selfishness of participants on the data reliability cannot be ignored in most mobile crowd sensing systems. To address this issue, we present a universal system model based on the reverse auction framework and formulate the problem as the Multiple Quality Multiple User Selection (MQMUS) problem. The quality-aware incentive mechanism (QAIM) is proposed to meet the quality requirement of data reliability. We demonstrate that the proposed incentive mechanism achieves the properties of computational efficiency, individual rationality, and truthfulness. And meanwhile, we evaluate the performance and validate the theoretical properties of our incentive mechanism through extensive simulation experiments.

CFRS (Collaborative Filtering Recommendation System) is one of the most widely used individualized recommendation systems. However, CFRS is susceptible to shilling attacks based on profile injection. The current research on shilling attack mainly focuses on the recognition of false user profiles, but these methods depend on the specific attack models and the computational cost is huge. From the view of item, some abnormal item detection methods are proposed which are independent of attack models and overcome the defects of user profiles model, but its detection rate, false alarm rate and time overhead need to be further improved. In order to solve these problems, it proposes an abnormal item detection method based on time window merging. This method first uses the small window to partition rating time series, and determine whether the window is suspicious in terms of the number of abnormal ratings within it. Then, the suspicious small windows are merged to form suspicious intervals. We use the rating distribution characteristics (RAR (Ratio of Abnormal Rating), ATIAR (Average Time Interval of Abnormal Rating), DAR(Deviation of Abnormal Rating) and DTIAR (Deviation of Time Interval of Abnormal Rating) in the suspicious intervals to determine whether the item is subject to attacks. Experiment results on the MovieLens 100K data set show that the method has a high detection rate and a low false alarm rate.

Energy supply of nodes in a Delay Tolerant Sensor Network (DTSN) usually relies on batteries, and the energy consumption unbalance caused by complicated topology and intermittent communication links has been becoming an issue for routing protocol design. DTSN achieves opportunistic communications using the mobility of nodes, where nodes deliver messages by the mechanism of Storage-Carry-Forward. This paper proposes an Energy-Efficient Routing Protocol based on Probability in DTSN (a.b. EERPP), where each sensor node takes a number of neighbors as the node list of its potential receiver set. A node makes its routing decision according to the metric of the average energy consumption for a message arriving at the destination node, which is modeled based on the probability of a message successfully delivered from the source node to the destination node or dropped before arriving at the destination node. Simulation results and discussions show that EERPP algorithm achieves satisfactory energy efficiency, as well as acceptable delay in a large scale network, compared with some traditional protocols.

Single-crystalline Mn3O4 nanoflakes were grown on manganese sheets by one-step thermal oxidation process at 360–500 °C in ambient atmosphere. The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The nanoflakes with a size of 15–20 nm in thickness, ~60 nm in width, and ~210 nm in length are obtained at 360 °C for 24 h. A surface diffusion mechanism is proposed to explain the growth of manganese oxide nanostructures via thermal oxidation, which includes two steps: manganese oxide (MnO/Mn3O4) layers form firstly, and then Mn3O4 nanostructures grow above the upper metal oxide layer to form multi-layered structures, MnO/Mn3O4/Mn3O4–nanoflakes. The nucleation and growth of Mn3O4 nanostructures are related to the surface energy and different growth rates along different crystal directions, which are controlled by the diffusion of the metal and gas molecule.

Feeding habits of Oxygymnocypris stewartii were investigated based on monthly sampling in the Yarlung Zangbo River from August 2008 to August 2009. The gut contents of 194 individuals were analysed and quantified with numerical and gravimetric methods. This species can be considered a generalized and opportunistic predator feeding both on teleosts and aquatic insects. A multivariate analysis revealed noticeable variation in O. stewartii diet composition with fish size and season. The smaller specimens fed primarily on Cobitidae and Hydropsychidae. As they grew, Cyprinidae and Chironomidae larvae became important prey. The preferred food items were teleosts in summer and autumn. For winter and spring, the predominant prey switched to chironomidae larvae. Diet composition did not significantly vary between the sexes. Finally, a significant and positive correlation between predator and prey length was found. These findings provide the fundamental information better understanding the role of this important endemic species in the Yarlung Zangbo River food web.

A novel graphene oxide sheets/polyaniline/CdSe quantum dots (GO/PANi/CdSe) nanocomposites were successfully synthesized and used for the sensitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensing. The GO/PANi/CdSe nanocomposites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Finally, the nanocomposites were employed to construct the biosensor via layer-by-layer assembly for the ECL detection of Cytochrome C (Cyt C). The whole process was characterized by cyclic voltammogram (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Experimental parameters such as the ratio of GO/PANi, the K 2 S 4 O 8 concentration and the pH value of electrolyte solution were studied to investigate the effect on the ECL intensity. Under the optimized conditions, the ECL intensity decreased linearly with the Cyt C concentrations in the range from 5.0×10 −8 to 1.0×10 −4 M with detection limit of 2.0×10 −8 M. Besides, the as-proposed biosensor exhibits high specificity, good reproducibility, and stability, and may be applied in more bioanalytical systems.

Traffic systems are increasingly complex, and traffic management works will gradually to become accurate, informationized and intelligent. The traffic management mode based on the experience can no longer adapt to the requirements of development. The introduction of high-tech to control traffic is urgently needed. The proposion of car networking lays a theoretical foundation for this. In this paper, we design, implemented and evaluate a com-pact signal processing system on an embedded mote for vehicle classification via acoustic characteristics. The main components of hardware system include a sound collector, an embedded mote and a wireless transmitting module. In software system we chose kernel principal component analysis (KPCA) as feature extraction method because of its high accuracy of nonlinear differential ability. This system enables an embedded mote to detect a passing vehicle and to decide its type. Using a testbed based on this system, we compare classification quality with the combination of KPCA and SVM to other typical methods. Briefly, we find that the KPCA yields better classification quality than the others in vehicle identification.

In view of the irrationality that traditional virtual potential field algorithms brought about on the criterion for the generation of virtual force in directional sensor networks, we propose a novel criterion for judgment. Cross-set test is used to determine whether the sensory region has any overlap, thereby restrain the energy cost of nodes and the performance of the algorithm is improved. In simulation experiment, the validity of the novel criterion and IAPD (improved algorithm of virtual potential field in directional sensor networks) are verified by the compare of IAPD and traditional virtual field algorithms.

By employing functional diimine ligands coordinated dipalladium(II,II) or diplatinum(II,II) clips as corners and the coplanar 4,4'-bipyrazolate dianion (L(2-)) ligand as linker, a series of bipyrazolate-bridged metallo-macrocycles, namely, [M8L4](NO3)8 (M = Pd(dmbpy), 1; Pd(bpy), 2; Pt(bpy), 3a; Pd(phen), 4; Pt(phen), 5; Pd(15-crown-5-phen), 6; Pd(18-crown-6-phen), 8; Pd(benzo-24-crown-8-phen), 10a; Pt(15-crown-5-phen), 7a, Pt(18-crown-6-phen), 9a; Pt(benzo-24-crown-8-phen), 11a) and [M6L3](NO3)6 (M = Pt(bpy), 3b; Pt(15-crown-5-phen), 7b; Pt(18-crown-6-phen), 9b; Pd(benzo-24-crown-8-phen), 10b; Pt(benzo-24-crown-8-phen), 11b), have been synthesized through a directed self-assembly approach that involves spontaneous deprotonation of the 1H-bipyrazolyl ligands in aqueous solution. All these compounds have a crown-shaped cavity that can serve as host to solvent molecules and anions. The structures are characterized by elemental analysis, (1)H and (13)C NMR, ESI-MS, and in the cases of 1a (the BF4(-) salt of 1), 2a (the BF4(-) salt of 2), and 3b by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Photophysical properties for complexes 1 and 2 are discussed.

Background Oxygymnocypris stewartii is an endemic species only inhabiting the middle and upper reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River and its tributaries at altitudes above 3600 m in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and has suffered a continuous decline of population size owing to anthropogenic disturbance. However, little is known about the stock status of this species and how to protect it. In this study, we evaluated the population status of O. stewartii and investigated two management policies including the minimum age limits and seasonal closure in the Yarlung Zangbo River. Results Estimates of the total mortality rate were 0.35 year−1 for females and 0.65 year−1 for males. The natural mortality rates were estimated as 0.10 and 0.22 year−1 for females and 0.12 and 0.29 year−1 for males using two empirical methods. The O. stewartii population may be in near full exploitation under the current harvesting strategy in the Yarlung Zangbo River, with a high chance of recruitment failure in the future. Although both minimum age limits and seasonal closure could be effective measures to conserve the O. stewartii stock, it was proposed that a seasonal closure was implemented each year from September to December according to the complexity of the application and the effects on the income of local fishermen and on the biological invasion. Conclusions The stock of O. stewartii may be in near full exploitation under the current harvesting strategy, with a high chance of recruitment failure in the future. Our results indicated that the imposition of the seasonal closure from September to December might be the effective measure to conserve the O. stewartii population.

In the crytal structure of the title compound, [Pd2(C56H50N8)]2(BF4)4·8CH3CN·H2O, the asymmetric 5-phenyl-3-p-tolylpyrazolate ligands bridge (4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine-κ2N,N′)palladium(II) units in cis and trans fashions, resulting in two coexistent dipalladium complexes. The six-membered rings consisting of the two Pd atoms and the four pyrazolyl N atoms have boat-shaped conformations in both independent complexes; the Pd atoms are four-coordinate in square-planar environments. The crystal structure is stabilized by electrostatic forces between the cations and anions, and weak intermolecular hydrogen bonds involving tetrafluridoborate anions (C—H⋯F), the solvent acetonitrile molecules (C—H⋯N) and water molecules (C—H⋯O).

Strong planning under all state-action pairs has been researched in recent years. Normally, the more the state-action pairs are, the higher of complexity is. In fact, there are many state action pairs which are useless for strong planning. Before finding strong planning, it is significant to find a set of state-action pairs which are useless for strong planning, and to best of our knowledge, it is still an open problem. In this paper, for a nondeterministic state-transition system, describes a method about how to use the reach ability matrix to count the state reach ability in a nondeterministic state-transition system. Using the state reach ability, some important conclusions about strong planning are acquired. These conclusions tell us what state-action pairs are useless when we search strong planning. So a lot of state-action pairs can eliminate directly from all state-action pairs before searching strong planning. Our contribution is the some important conclusions about strong planning, these works are significant to improve the efficiency of algorithm for solving strong planning.

This paper proposes an image transmission method based on the compression cost estimation for solving the problems of communication overloading in the wireless multimedia sensor networks. Firstly, according to the relative information entropy among the multimedia sensors, correlation comprehensive degrees of the nodes have been obtained. Then, before the image data are transmitted, energy consumption judgment strategy based on the compression cost estimation is proposed. Finally, an energy efficient image transmission way is used by the judgment. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the amount of image transmission effectively, ensure the energy consumption balance of the multimedia sensors in the network and extends the network's lifetime.
