Abstract Mallards inhabit soft grounds such as mudflats, marshes, and beaches, demonstrating remarkable proficiency in traversing these grounds. This adeptness is closely linked to the adjustments in the operation of their hindlimbs. This study employs high-speed videography to observe postural adjustments during locomotion across mudflats. Analysis of spatiotemporal parameters of the hindlimbs reveals transient and continuous changes in joints (tarsometatarso-phalangeal joint (TMTPJ), intertarsal joint (ITJ), knee, and hip) during movement on different ground hardness and slope (horizontal and uphill). The results indicate that as the stride length of the mallard increases, its speed also increases. Additionally, the stance phase duration decreases, leading to a decrease in the duty factor. Reduced ground hardness and increased slope lead to delayed adjustment of the TMTPJ, ITJ, and knee. Mallards adjust their stride length by augmenting ITJ flexion on steeper slopes, while reduced hardness prompts a decrease in TMTPJ flexion at touch-down. Additionally, the hip undergoes two brief extensions during the stance phase, indicating its crucial role in posture adjustment and propulsion on uphill grounds. Overall, the hindlimb joints of the mallard function as a whole musculoskeletal system, with each joint employing a distinct strategy for adjusting to adapt to various ground conditions.

A novel AgCuTi brazing foil with a unique microstructure was developed, which could achieve strong vacuum brazing of Ti6Al4V (TC4) and sapphire. The brazing foil was composed of Ag solid solution (Ag(s,s)), Cu solid solution (Cu(s,s)), and layered Ti-rich phases, and had a low liquidus temperature of 790 °C and a narrow melting range of 16 °C, facilitating the defect-free joining of TC4 and sapphire. The sapphire/TC4 joint fabricated by using this novel AgCuTi brazing foil exhibited an outstanding average shear strength of up to 132.2 MPa, which was the highest value ever reported. The sapphire/TC4 joint had a characteristic structure, featuring a brazing seam reinforced by TiCu particles and a thin Ti3(Cu,Al)3O reaction layer of about 1.3 μm. The fracture mechanism of the sapphire/TC4 joint was revealed. The crack originated at the brazing seam with TiCu particles, then propagated through the Ti3(Cu,Al)3O reaction layer, detached the reaction layer from the sapphire, and finally penetrated into the sapphire. This study offers valuable insights into the design of active brazing alloys and reliable metal–ceramic bonding.

Abstract A compact 60‐GHz on‐chip bandpass filter (BPF) is presented using gallium arsenide (GaAs) technology. To demonstrate the working mechanism of the proposed BPF, an inductor‐capacitor (LC) equivalent circuit model is conceived and analysed for further investigation of the transmission poles (TPs) and zeros. Finally, a prototype of the BPF is fabricated and tested to validate the proposed idea, whose simulated and measured results are in good agreement. The measurements show that it has a centre frequency of 60.2 GHz with a bandwidth of 14%, and the minimum insertion loss (IL) within the passband is 2.57 dB. The chip size, excluding the feedings, is about 0.265 mm × 0.184 mm.

Abstract Changes in the habitats of species can provide insights into the impact of climate change on their habitats. Species in the genus Morina (Morinoideae) are perennial herbaceous plants that are mainly distributed in the South Asian Mountains and Eastern Mediterranean. In China, there are four species and two varieties of this genus distributed across the Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, and Gansu provinces. This study used the optimal MaxEnt model to simulate past, current, and future potentially suitable habitats of Morina kokonorica and Morina chinensis. Seventy data of M. kokonorica occurrences and 3 of M. chinensis were used in the model to predict potentially suitable habitats. The model prediction results indicated that both M. kokonorica and M. chinensis exhibited trends of northward migration to higher latitudes and westward migration along the Himalayas to higher elevations, suggesting that the northern valleys of Hengduan Mountains and northern and eastern parts of the Himalayas were potential refugia for M. kokonorica, and the potential refugia for M. chinensis was located in the eastern part of Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau. The results of this niche analysis showed that the two species had higher levels of interspecific competition and that the environmental adaptability of M. chinensis was stronger. This research could help further understand the response pattern of Morina to environmental change, to understand the adaptability of species to the environment, and promote the protection of species.

Histone acetylation is an important epigenetic mechanism that has been shown to play a role in diapause regulation. To explore the physiological and molecular mechanisms of histone deacetylase in the diapause process, LC-MS/MS analysis was used to perform TMT proteomic and metabolomic analysis on non-diapause (ND), pre-diapause (PreD), diapause (D), cold treatment (CT), and post-diapause (RD) stages of the meadow moth. A total of 5367 proteins were identified by proteomics, including 1179 differentially expressed proteins. We found 975 (602 up-regulated and 373 down-regulated), 997 (608 up-regulated and 389 down-regulated), 1119 (726 up-regulated and 393 down-regulated), 1179 (630 up-regulated and 549 down-regulated), 94 (51 up-regulated and 43 down-regulated), 111 (63 up-regulated and 48 down-regulated), 533 (243 up-regulated and 290 down-regulated), 58 (31 up-regulated and 27 down-regulated), and 516 (228 up-regulated and 288 down-regulated) proteins in ND and PreD, ND and D, ND and CT, ND and RD, PreD and D, PreD and CT, PreD and RD, D and CT, D and RD, and CT and RD stages, respectively. A total of 1255 differentially expressed metabolites were annotated by metabolomics. Through KEGG analysis and time series analysis of differentially expressed metabolites, we found that phospholipids were annotated in significantly different modules, demonstrating their important role in the diapause process of the meadow moth. Using phospholipids as an indicator for weighted gene co-expression network analysis, we analyzed the most relevant differentially expressed proteins in the module and found that ribosomal 40s and 60s subunits were the most relevant proteins for diapause. Because there have been studies that have shown that histone deacetylase is associated with the diapause of meadow moths, we believe that histone deacetylase regulates the 40s and 60s subunits of ribosomes, which in turn affects the diapause of meadow moths. This finding expands our understanding of the regulation of meadow moth diapause and provides new insights into its control mechanism.

Quantitative detection of defects in structures is always a hot research topic in the field of guided wave inverse scattering. Research studies on how to effectively extract the defect-related information encompassed in the multi-frequency and multi-modes scattered wave signals for reconstructions of defects have been paid attention in recent decades. In this paper, a novel deep learning-based quantitative guided wave inverse scattering technique has been proposed to intelligently realize the end-to-end mapping of the multi-frequency, multi-modes scattered signals to defect profiles with high levels of accuracy and efficiency. Based on the manifold distribution principle, the data patterns of scattered SH-wave signals have been investigated, owing to leveraging the capability of the intelligent encoder-projection-decoder neural network. Following that, the manifold-learning-oriented network has been trained using the data generated by the modified boundary element method. Several numerical examples have been examined to demonstrate the correctness and efficiency of the proposed reconstruction approach. It has been concluded that this novel data-driven technique intelligently enables the high-quality solution to inverse scattering problems and provides valuable insight into the development of practical approaches to quantitative detection using multi-frequency and multi-modal acoustic data from scattered ultrasonic guided waves.

Purpose – The number of patents in China has grown rapidly in recent years. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how patents impact economic development in China. Design/methodology/approach – This paper developed an empirical model by using panel data of 42 China's patent-intensive industries to investigate the economic contribution made by Chinese patent-intensive manufacturing industries. Findings – This paper found that the intensity of valid patents is strongly positively related to economic growth. The intensity of yearly added patents presented an inverse U-shaped and a U-shaped curve with the economy made by China’s patent-intensive industries. The correlativity mainly depended on whether the patent intensity converges near the economic indicators. Meanwhile, from the perspective of input–output efficiency, for China’s patent-intensive industries, R&D institutes were overinvested, followed by R&D intensity and R&D staff. Originality/value – Investigating patent influence on economic development is quite complex research. Existing studies have mainly focused on patent protection in legal systems, but have not provided a definitive answer to what the real influence is. This study sought to narrow this gap from the patent economy perspective.

Abstract Objective The purpose of this study is to explore whether electrical impedance tomography (EIT)-guided individualized positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) can reduce the incidence of pulmonary complications within 1 week following a craniotomy compared with a single PEEP (PEEP = 6 cmH2O) from dura suturing to extubation. Methods A randomized controlled trial will be conducted at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochou University. Five hundred forty patients undergoing a craniotomy in the supine position will be randomly allocated into the P6 (PEEP = 6 cmH2O) or Pi (individualized PEEP) group. Both groups of patients will receive a lung recruitment maneuver before suturing the dura. Then, the P6 group will receive 6 cmH2O PEEP, and the Pi group will receive EIT-guided individualized PEEP. The incidence and severity score of pulmonary complications within 1 week following surgery, the lung ultrasound score (LUS), regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rScO2), and PaO2/FiO2 before anesthesia (T0), 10 min after extubation (T1), 24 h after extubation (T2), and 72 h after extubation (T3) will be compared between the two groups. The duration of surgery and anesthesia, the level and duration of PEEP during surgery, the volume of liquid intake and output during surgery, and the postoperative ICU and hospital stays will be recorded. The main outcome of this study will be the incidence of pulmonary complications within 1 week after surgery. Discussion The purposes of this study are to determine whether EIT-guided individualized PEEP from the beginning of dura suturing to extubation reduces the incidence of pulmonary complications within 1 week after a craniotomy compared with a single constant PEEP and to evaluate the length of ICU and hospital stays. If our results are positive, this study will show that EIT-guided individualized PEEP is better than a single constant PEEP and can further improve the prognosis of neurosurgical patients and reduce hospitalization costs, which will promote the wide application of individualized PEEP in clinical anesthesia. In this study, the effect of the speed on the webbed foot locomotion of the mallard was analyzed based on a considerable number of reliable indoor test data. Four adult male mallards were selected for analysis, and the locomotion speed of the mallard was controlled using the treadmill at an accurate and adjustable speed. The locomotion pattern of the webbed foot of the mallard at different speeds was recorded using a high-speed camera. The changes in the position and conformation of the webbed foot during locomotion on a treadmill were tracked and analyzed using Simi-Motion kinematics software. The results indicated that the stride length of the mallard increased, and the stance phase duration was shortened with the increase of the speed, whereas the swing phase duration did not vary significantly. The duty factor decreased with the increase of the mallard speed but not drop below to 0.5, because the mallards flew with their wings, or moved backward relative to the treadmill with the further increase of the speed. Using the energy method to further distinguish gait, and through the percentage of congruity analysis, it was found that between 0.73 and 0.93 m/s, the gait experienced a transition from walking to grounded running, with no significant changes in spatiotemporal parameters. At speeds between 0.93 and 1.6 m/s, mallards adopt a grounded running gait. The instantaneous changes of the tarsometatarso-phalangeal joint (TMTPJ) angle and the intertarsal joint (ITJ) angle at touch-down, mid-stance and lift-off concomitant with the change of the speed were examined with the TMTPJ and ITJ angle as the research objects. Moreover, the continuous changes of the joint angles were examined in a complete stride cycle. The result indicated that the increase of the speed will also make the TMTPJ and ITJ angle change ahead of time in a stride cycle, proving the shortened stance phase duration. The ITJ angle changed much more than the TMTPJ. Thus, the above result reveals that the mallard primarily responds with the increase of the speed by adjusting the ITJ, instead of the TMTPJ. The vertical displacement of the toe joint points and the toe joint angle was studied (α joint angle is between the second toe and the third toe; β joint angle is between the third toe and the fourth toe) with a complete stride cycle as the research object. The distal phalanxes of the second, third and fourth toes first contacted the ground, and the proximal phalanx touched the ground in turn during the early stance phase duration of the mallard, as indicated by the result of this study. However, the toes got off the ground in turn from the proximal phalanxes when the mallard foot got off the ground. With the decrease of the interphalangeal α and β joint angles, the foot web tended to be close and rapidly recovered before the next touch-down. The above result reveals that the webbed foot of the mallard is a coupling system that plays a role in the adjustment of speed.

This study utilized the mallard’s foot as the subject, examining the bone distribution via computed tomography (CT) and analyzing pertinent parameters of the tarsometatarsal bones. Additionally, gross anatomy methods were employed to elucidate the characteristics of the toes and webbing bio-structures and their material composition. Biologically, the mallard’s foot comprises tarsometatarsal bones and 10 phalanges, enveloped by fascia, tendons, and skin. Vernier calipers were used to measure the bones, followed by statistical analysis to acquire structural data. Tendons, originating in proximal muscles and terminating in distal bones beneath the fascia, facilitate force transmission and systematic movement of each segment’s bones. Regarding material composition, the skin layer serves both encapsulation and wrapping functions. Fat pads, located on the metatarsal side of metatarsophalangeal joints and each phalanx, function as cushioning shock absorbers. The correlation between the force applied to the tarsometatarsal bones and the webbing opening angle was explored using a texture analyzer. A simplified model describing the driving force behind the webbing opening angle was introduced. Furthermore, we designed a bionic foot, contributing a foundational reference for anti-sinking bionic foot development.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to clarify the relevant risk factors of septic cardiomyopathy (SCM) in perioperative sepsis patients. Methods This retrospective study evaluated patients who were diagnosed with sepsis during the perioperative period and postoperatively admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, and the Suzhou Municipal Hospital between January 2017 and November 2020. The lakes on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau have undergone substantial changes. As intensive cryospheric components change, the response of the lake dynamics to climatic factors, glacier-snow melting, and permafrost thawing has been complex. Based on Landsat images, meteorological data, and glacier and permafrost data, the spatial-temporal changes in the lake area on the northeastern Tibetan Plateau between 1988 and 2019 were analyzed and the driving factors behind the lake changes were further explored. The results suggest that the regional lake area increased from 1988 to 2019 at rates of 0.01–16.03 km2/yr. It decreased during 1988–2000, quickly increased during 2000–2012, and rapidly increased during 2012–2019. The most significant lake expansion occurred in sub-region I, which is the source region of the Yangtze River Basin. There was a sharper increase during 2012–2019 than during 2000–2012 in sub-region II (the source region of the Yellow River Basin and the Qinghai Lake Basin) and sub-region III (the Qaidam Basin). The significant lake expansion occurred about 12 years earlier in sub-region I than in sub-regions II and III. This dramatic change in the lake area was closely associated with the annual precipitation, and precipitation was the primary driving factor. Although serious glacier retreat occurred, most of the lakes in the sub-regions were non-glacier-fed lakes. The correlation between glacier ablation and the change in the lake area was poor, which suggests that glacial meltwater was not the replenishment source of most of the lakes in this region. A more accelerated increase in the active layer thickness occurred (1.90 cm/yr), which was consistent with the more rapid lake expansion, and the permafrost degradation further intensified the lake expansion.

BackgroundMyocardial infarction (MI) is one of the first cardiovascular diseases endangering human health. Inflammatory response plays a significant role in the pathophysiological process of MI. Messenger RNA (mRNA) has been proven to play a key role in cardiovascular diseases. Single-cell sequencing (SCS) technology is a new technology for high-throughput sequencing analysis of genome, transcriptome, and epigenome at the single-cell level, and it also plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Machine learning algorithms have a wide scope of utilization in biomedicine and have demonstrated superior efficiency in clinical trials. However, few studies integrate these three methods to investigate the role of mRNA in MI. The aim of this study was to screen the expression of mRNA, investigate the function of mRNA, and provide an underlying scientific basis for the diagnosis of MI.MethodsIn total, four RNA microarray datasets of MI, namely, GSE66360, GSE97320, GSE60993, and GSE48060, were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. The function analysis was carried out by Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and Disease Ontology (DO) enrichment analysis. At the same time, inflammation-related genes (IRGs) were acquired from the GeneCards database. Then, 52 co-DEGs were acquired from differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in differential analysis, IRGs, and genes from SCS, and they were used to construct a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. Two machine learning algorithms, namely, (1) least absolute shrinkage and selection operator and (2) support vector machine recursive feature elimination, were used to filter the co-DEGs. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was performed to screen the hub-modulating signaling pathways associated with the hub genes. The results were validated in GSE97320, GSE60993, and GSE48060 datasets. The CIBERSORT algorithm was used to analyze 22 infiltrating immune cells in the MI and healthy control (CON) groups and to analyze the correlation between these immune cells. The Pymol software was used for molecular docking of hub DEGs and for potential treatment of MI drugs acquired from the COREMINE.ResultsA total of 126 DEGs were in the MI and CON groups. After screening two machine learning algorithms and key co-DEGs from a PPI network, two hub DEGs (i.e., IL1B and TLR2) were obtained. The diagnostic efficiency of IL1B, TLR2, and IL1B + TLR2 showed good discrimination in the four cohorts. GSEA showed that KEGG enriched by DEGs were mainly related to inflammation-mediated signaling pathways, and GO biological processes enriched by DEGs were linked to biological effects of various inflammatory cells. Immune analysis indicated that IL1B and TLR2 were correlated with various immune cells. Dan shen, san qi, feng mi, yuan can e, can sha, san qi ye, san qi hua, and cha shu gen were identified as the potential traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for the treatment of MI. 7-hydroxyflavone (HF) had stable combinations with IL1B and TLR2, respectively.ConclusionThis study identified two hub DEGs (IL1B and TLR2) and illustrated its potential role in the diagnosis of MI to enhance our knowledge of the underlying molecular mechanism. Infiltrating immune cells played an important role in MI. TCM, especially HF, was a potential drug for the treatment of MI.

Abstract Piezoelectric materials enable the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy and vice‐versa. Ultrahigh piezoelectricity has been only observed in single crystals. Realization of piezoelectric ceramics with longitudinal piezoelectric constant (d33) close to 2000 pC N–1, which combines single crystal‐like high properties and ceramic‐like cost effectiveness, large‐scale manufacturing, and machinability will be a milestone in advancement of piezoelectric ceramic materials. Here, guided by phenomenological models and phase‐field simulations that provide conditions for flattening the energy landscape of polarization, a synergistic design strategy is demonstrated that exploits compositionally driven local structural heterogeneity and microstructural grain orientation/texturing to provide record piezoelectricity in ceramics. This strategy is demonstrated on [001]PC‐textured and Eu3+‐doped Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3‐PbTiO3 (PMN‐PT) ceramics that exhibit the highest piezoelectric coefficient (small‐signal d33 of up to 1950 pC N–1 and large‐signal d33* of ≈2100 pm V–1) among all the reported piezoelectric ceramics. Extensive characterization conducted using high‐resolution microscopy and diffraction techniques in conjunction with the computational models reveals the underlying mechanisms governing the piezoelectric performance. Further, the impact of losses on the electromechanical coupling is identified, which plays major role in suppressing the percentage of piezoelectricity enhancement, and the fundamental understanding of loss in this study sheds light on further enhancement of piezoelectricity. These results on cost‐effective and record performance piezoelectric ceramics will launch a new generation of piezoelectric applications.

Lubricants have the ability to reduce frictions, prevent wear, convey metal debris particles and increase the efficiency of heat transfer; therefore, they have been widely used in mechanical systems. To assess the safety and reliability of the machine under operational conditions, the development of inductive debris sensors for the online monitoring of debris particles in lubricants has received more attention from researchers. To achieve a high-precision, high-efficiency sensor for accurate prediction on the degree of wear, the equivalent circuit model of the sensor coil has been established, and its equations discovering the relationship between the induced voltage and excitation frequency have been derived. Furthermore, the influence of excitation frequencies and metal debris on the magnetic flux density has been analyzed throughout the simulations to determine the sensor magnetic field. In order to identify a frequency range suitable for detecting both ferrous and non-ferrous materials with a high level of sensitivity, the analytical analysis and experiments have been conducted to investigate the frequency characteristics of the developed inductive debris sensor prototype and its improved inspection capability. Moreover, the developed inductive debris sensor with the noticeable frequency characteristics has been assessed and its theoretical model has been also validated throughout experimental tests. Results have shown that the detection sensitivity of non-ferrous debris by the developed sensor increases with the excitation frequency in the range of 50 kHz to 250 kHz, while more complex results for the detection of ferrous debris have been observed. The detection sensitivity decreases as the excitation frequency increases from 50 kHz to 300 kHz, and then increases with the excitation frequency from 300 kHz to 370 kHz. This leads to the effective selection of the excitation frequency in the process of inspection. In summary, the investigation into the frequency characteristics of the proposed novel inductive debris sensor has enabled its broad applications and also provided a theoretical basis and valuable insights into the development of inductive debris sensors with improved detection sensitivity.

Abstract Flexible perovskite solar cells (FPSCs) represent a promising technology in the development of next‐generation photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices. SnO2 electron transport layers (ETL) typically undergo significant cracking during the bending process of FPSCs, which can significantly compromise their charge transport properties. Herein, the semi‐planar non‐fullerene acceptor molecule Y6 (BT‐core‐based fused‐unit dithienothiophen [3,2‐b]‐pyrrolobenzothiadiazole derivative) is introduced as the buffer layer for SnO2‐based FPSCs. It is found that the Y6 buffer layer can enhance the ability of charge extraction and bending stability for SnO2 ETL. Moreover, the internal stress of perovskite films is also reduced. As a result, SnO2/Y6‐based FPSCs achieved a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 20.09% and retained over 80% of their initial efficiency after 1000 bending cycles at a curvature radius of 8 mm, while SnO2‐based devices only retain 60% of their initial PCE (18.60%) upon the same bending cycles. In addition, the interfacial charge extraction is also effectively improved in conjunction with reduced defect density upon incorporation of Y6 on the SnO2 ETL, as revealed by femtosecond transient absorption (Fs‐TA) measurements.

OBJECTIVES This study examined the development of Chinese pre-service physical education teachers’ technical skill, tactical understanding, game performance (common content knowledge - CCK), and specialized content knowledge (SCK) during a badminton course incorporating Play Practice instruction. METHODS Participants were 36 pre-service teachers (31 males, 5 females: age 21 ± 1.0) majoring in physical education at a university in central China. The students completed a 24 lesson course after a 16 weeks semester. A typical lesson (90 minutes) included a 10-minute warm-up, followed by instruction in two or three technical skills or tactics for 50-55 minutes. The final 25-minutes included the Play Practice aspect of the lesson - a specific game-based challenge to reinforce a technical or tactical aspect of badminton play. The challenge included the three typical pedagogies of Play Practice: focusing, shaping, and enhancing. The French clear test, tactical understanding in badminton, Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI), and student-generated content maps were used to respectively monitor changes in technical skills, tactical understanding, game performance, and specialized content knowledge before and after the course. Parametric statistics were used to compare student outcomes. RESULTS Statistically significant differences were found on all measures from pre- to post-test, with all showing large effect sizes. In particular, over 75% of students achieved the benchmark depth of SCK following the course. CONCLUSIONS The inclusion of Play Practice within a sport instruction course can contribute to various elements that are needed to promote the CCK and SCK of pre-service physical education students.

Abstract Objective The objective of this trial is to investigate the effects of protective lung ventilation on regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2) during dura opening, that is from Ta (after dura opening) to Tb (before dura closing), in patients undergoing intracranial tumor surgery. Methods This is a randomized controlled trial which will be carried out at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University. Fifty-four patients undergoing intracranial tumor surgery will be randomly allocated to the control group (C group) or the protective lung ventilation group (P group). In the C group, the tidal volume (VT) will be set at 8 ml/kg of predicted body weight, but positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) and recruitment maneuvers will not be used. In the P group, VT will be set at 6 ml/kg of predicted body weight combined with individualized PEEP during dura opening, while in other periods of general anesthesia, VT will be set at 8 ml/kg of predicted body weight. The level of rSO2, partial pressures of oxygen and carbon dioxide, oxygenation index, lactic acid level in arterial blood, and mean arterial pressure will be compared before anesthesia (T0), before dura opening (T1), after dura closing (T2), and 24 h after surgery (T3). Lung ultrasound scores will be measured at T0 and T3. The degree of brain relaxation at T1 and T2 will be evaluated by the surgeon using the brain relaxation scale. The amount of vasoactive drugs used and blood loss will be recorded during surgery. The duration of operation and reoperation rate will be recorded. The primary outcome of this study is the changes in rSO2 within 24 h postoperatively. Discussion This study aims to determine whether protective lung ventilation during dura opening can improve rSO2 and the state of pulmonary ventilation in patients undergoing intracranial tumor surgery, and to investigate whether this strategy affects the degree of brain tissue swelling and the reoperation rate after operation. If our results are positive, this study will show that protective lung ventilation during dura opening can be used effectively and safely in neurosurgical patients undergoing craniotomy for tumor resection. In this study, we synthesised the zinc oxide nanoparticles from Vernonia amygdalina and evaluated its anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive potentials against the different inflammation and pain induced mice model. The synthesised zinc oxide nanoparticles were characterised by UV, SEM, XRD and FTIR techniques. The anti-nociceptive effects of V. amygdalina were examined by different stimuli e.g. acetic acid, glutamate, capsaicin, and formalin-induced nociception in mice. The anti-inflammatory effects of synthesised zinc oxide nanoparticles were assessed by air sack assessment and the level of inflammatory cytokines were studied. The muscle tension of animals were studied through open field assessment. The present study exhibited proficient antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory actions of the synthesised Zinc oxide nanoparticles from V. amygdalina. The sormulated zinc oxide nanoparticles were appreciably reduced the acetic acid, glutamate, capsaicin, and formalin-induced nociceptive responses in mice. Further the zinc nanoparticles were exhibited the potent anti-inflammatory actions via reducing the inflammatory response and pro-inflammatory cytokines level in the mice. In conclusion, the findings of this study proved the beneficial effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles from V. amygdalina against the different pain and inflammation-induced mice. Hence, it was clear that the zinc nanoparticles from V. amygdalina could be promising antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory agent in the future.

Singularity research is carried out. The problem, which is about six-dimensional parameters of position and orientation can not realize three-dimensional visualization for 6DOF parallel robot, has been solved. Firstly, according to the structural characteristics of the 6DOF parallel robot with the planar platform, the position and orientation of the mobile platform are described, respectively, and the six equations of forward kinematics are established by choosing the natural coordinates of three representative points as parameters. Then, the singularities of the 6DOF parallel robot with a planar platform are divided into input singularity and output singularity. Aiming at the output singularity, in combination with six constraint equations among the position vectors of three representative points, an analytical algorithm is proposed to express the coupling singularity of position and orientation and the analytical expression is derived. In further research, three kinds of output singularities are found, the spatial distribution of the output singular trajectory is determined, and a unified three-dimensional fully visualized description of six-dimensional coupling variables is realized for the first time. The problems of finding the singular orientation at a given position or the singular position at a given orientation are solved. The analysis of the singularity lays a solid foundation for the description of the three-dimensional complete visualization of a six-dimensional singularity-free workspace based on forward kinematics. What is more, it has great significance for both trajectory planning and control design of the parallel robot.

Abstract Hollow structure LiNb3O8 photocatalysts were prepared by a hydrothermal method assisting sintering process. The particles’ aggregation to form hollow structures with obvious cavities can be attributed to the Li element volatilization during calcination process. All the LiNb3O8 powders show high photocatalytic efficiency of degradation of methylene blue (MB), especially for the sample calcined at 700 °C (LNO700), with only 3 h to completely decompose MB. The photo-degradation of MB follows the pseudo-first-order kinetics, and the obtained first-order rate is 0.97/h. The larger degradation rate of LNO700 can be attributed to its hollow structure which provides a larger specific surface area and more active sites to degrade the MB molecules. The cycling test of photo-degradation and adsorption of MB over LNO700 powder indicates that the hollow structure of the LiNb3O8 photocatalyst is stable and the LiNb3O8 photocatalyst is an efficient photocatalyst with good reusability, confirmed by the XRD and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy tests before and after photo-degradation of MB.

Abstract The effects of Li/Nb ratio on the preparation of Li-Nb-O compounds by a hydrothermal method were studied deeply. Li/Nb ratio has a great impact on the formation of LiNbO3; the ratio smaller than 3:1 is beneficial to the formation of LiNbO3, while larger than 3:1, forms no LiNbO3 at all and the morphology and chemical bond of Nb2O5 raw material are totally modified by Li ions. The reason can be attributed to the large content of LiOH, which is beneficial to form Li3NbO4 not LiNbO3, and also, even if LiNbO3 particle locally forms, it is easily dissolved in LiOH solution with strong alkalinity. Pure LiNb3O8 powders are obtained with two absolutely opposite Li/Nb ratios: 8:1 and 1:3; the former shows a unique porous and hollow structure, quite different from the particle aggregation (the latter shows). Compared with Li/Nb = 1:3, the 4.2 times higher photocatalytic performance of LiNb3O8 (Li/Nb = 8:1) are observed and it can be attributed to the unique porous and hollow structure, which provides a high density of active sites for the degradation of MB. Compared to LiNbO3, the improved photocatalytic performance of LiNb3O8 can be attributed to its layered structure type with the reduced symmetry enhancing the separation of electrons and holes.

Abstract The feather-like hierarchical zinc oxide (ZnO) was synthesized via successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction without any seed layer or metal catalyst. A possible growth mechanism is proposed to explain the forming process of ZnO feather-like structures. Meanwhile, the photo-electronic performances of the feather-like ZnO have been investigated with the UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy, I-V and I-tmeasurements. The results indicate that feather-like ZnO hierarchical structures have good anti-reflection and excellent photo-sensitivity. All results suggest that the direct growth processing of novel feather-like ZnO is envisaged to have promising application in the field of photo-detector devices.

Abstract Porous- and hollow-structured LiNb3O8 anode material was prepared by a hydrothermal-assisted sintering strategy for the first time. The phase evolution was studied, and the formation mechanism of the porous and hollow structure was proposed. The formation of the unique structure can be attributed to the local existence of liquid phase because of the volatilization of Li element. As the anode material, the initial discharge capacity is 285.1 mAhg−1 at 0.1 C, the largest discharge capacity reported so far for LiNb3O8. Even after 50 cycles, the reversible capacity can still maintain 77.6 mAhg−1 at 0.1 C, about 2.5 times of that of LiNb3O8 samples prepared by traditional solid-state methods. The significant improvement of Li storage capacity can be attributed to the special porous and hollow structure, which provides a high density of active sites and short parallel channels for fast intercalation of Li+ ions through the surface.

Abstract In2O3 nanoparticles hybrid twins hexagonal disk (THD) ZnO with different ratios were fabricated by a hydrothermal method. The as-obtained ZnO/In2O3 composites are constituted by hexagonal disks ZnO with diameters of about 1 μm and In2O3 nanoparticles with sizes of about 20–50 nm. With the increase of In2O3 content in ZnO/In2O3 composites, the absorption band edges of samples shifted from UV to visible light region. Compared with pure ZnO, the ZnO/In2O3 composites show enhanced photocatalytic activities for degradation of methyl orange (MO) and 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) under solar light irradiation. Due to suitable alignment of their energy band-gap structure of the In2O3 and ZnO, the formation of type п heterostructure can enhance efficient separation of photo-generate electro-hole pairs and provides convenient carrier transfer paths.

Linnaea borealis L. is a creeping shrub which grows about 5–10 cm high and is a rare clonal plant. Linnaea is a monotypic genus. Here, we release and detail the complete chloroplast genome sequences of L. borealis, whose size is 161,576 bp, containing a large single copy region (LSC) of 85,609 bp and a single copy region (SSC) of 46,694 bp which typically separates by a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 29,210 bp. The amount of the overall genes is 136, which includes 37 tRNA genes, eight rRNA genes, and 91 protein-coding genes. The content of the G/C in whole plastome is 61.74% while the G/C content of the LSC, SSC, and IR region are 36.58%, 38.86%, and 42.25%, respectively. The complete cp genome sequences of L. borealis will be a useful resource to the phylogenetics study in family Caprifoliaceae.

Many assembly modes exist due to multi-solutions for forward kinematics of 6-UPS parallel robot. However, the existing theoretical research results have not been well applied to the real-time control, because of the complexity of the forward kinematics. This paper proposes an analytic algorithm to establish the forward kinematics model of a 6-UPS parallel robot with an extra displacement sensor mounted on the centers of upper and lower platform ((6+1)-UPS). Based on the unit quaternion method, the improved forward kinematics model of the proposed (6+1)-UPS system is theoretically derived to be four equations about four components of unit quaternion. The whole computation process is analytical. The method of measurement of the 7th link length and the utilization of unit quaternion reduces the complexity of computation process of forward kinematics, avoids the computer memory spillover and increases the computation efficiency to be suitable for the real-time control application. Then, the analytical solution of the position vector and orientation matrix of the (6+1)-UPS parallel robot are obtained. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed approach are illustrated with a numerical example.

Lead-free piezoelectric materials attract more and more attention owing to the environmental toxicity of lead-containing materials. In this work, we review our first attempts of single crystal grown by the top-seeded solution growth method of BaTiO3 substituted with zirconium and calcium (BCTZ) and (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 substituted with lithium, tantalum, and antimony (KNLSTN). The growth methodology is optimized in order to reach the best compositions where enhanced properties are expected. Chemical analysis and electrical characterizations are presented for both kinds of crystals. The compositionally-dependent electrical performance is investigated for a better understanding of the relationship between the composition and electrical properties. A cross-over from relaxor to ferroelectric state in BCTZ solid solution is evidenced similar to the one reported in ceramics. In KNLSTN single crystals, we observed a substantial evolution of the orthorhombic-to-tetragonal phase transition under minute composition changes.

Lakes on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau (QTP) have experienced significant changes, especially the prevailing lake expansion since 2000 in the endorheic basin. The influence of permafrost thawing on lake expansion is significant but rarely considered in previous studies. In this study, based on Landsat images and permafrost field data, the spatial-temporal area changes of lakes of more than 5 km2 in the endorheic basin on the QTP during 2000–2017 is examined and the impact of permafrost degradation on lake expansion is discussed. The main results are that permafrost characteristics and its degradation trend have close relationships with lake changes. Lake expansion in the endorheic basin showed a southwest–northeast transition from shrinking to stable to rapidly expanding, which corresponded well with the permafrost distribution from island-discontinuous to seasonally frozen ground to continuous permafrost. A dramatic lake expansion in continuous permafrost showed significant spatial differences; lakes expanded significantly in northern and eastern continuous permafrost with a higher ground ice content but slightly in southern continuous permafrost with a lower ground ice content. This spatial pattern was mainly attributed to the melting of ground ice in shallow permafrost associated with accelerating permafrost degradation. Whereas, some lakes in the southern zones of island-discontinuous permafrost were shrinking, which was mainly because the extended taliks arising from the intensified permafrost degradation have facilitated surface water and suprapermafrost groundwater discharge to subpermafrost groundwater and thereby drained the lakes. Based on observation and simulated data, the melting of ground ice at shallow depths below the permafrost table accounted for 21.2% of the increase in lake volume from 2000 to 2016.

Despite the successful improvement in the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), the issue of instability is still a serious challenge for their commercial application. The issue of the PSCs mainly originates from the decomposition of the organic−inorganic hybrid perovskite materials, which will degrade upon humidity and suffer from the thermal environment. In addition, the charge transport layers also influence the stability of the whole devices. In this study, inorganic transport layers are utilized in an inverted structure of PSCs employing CsPbIBr2 as light absorbent layer, in which nickel oxide (NiOx) and cerium oxide (CeOx) films are applied as the hole transport layer (HTL) and the electron transport layer (ETL), respectively. The inorganic transport layers are expected to protect the CsPbIBr2 film from the contact of moisture and react with the metal electrode, thus preventing degradation. The PSC with all inorganic components, inorganic perovskite and inorganic transport layers demonstrates an initial PCE of 5.60% and retains 5.56% after 600 s in ambient air at maximum power point tracking.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) employing organic-inorganic halide perovskite as active layers have attracted the interesting of many scientists since 2009. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) have pushed certified 25.2% in 2019 from initial 3.81% in 2009, which is much faster than that of any type of solar cell. In the process of optimization, many innovative approaches to improve the morphology of perovskite films were developed, aiming at elevate the power conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) as well as long-term stability. In the context of PSCs research, the perovskite precursor solutions modified with different additives have been extensively studied, with remarkable progress in improving the whole performance. In this comprehensive review, we focus on the forces induced by additives between the cations and anions of perovskite precursor, such as hydrogen bonds, coordination or some by-product (e.g., mesophase), which will lead to form intermediate adduct phases and then can be converted into high quality films. A compact uniform perovskite films can not only upgrade the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of devices but also improve the stability of PSCs under ambient conditions. Therefore, strategies for the implementation of additives engineering in perovskites precursor solution will be critical for the future development of PSCs. How to manipulate the weak forces in the fabrication of perovskite film could help to further develop high-efficiency solar cells with long-term stability and enable the potential of future practical applications.

This paper presents a kind of a multichannel THz detector using lens-based bow-tie array. A hyperhemispherical silicon lens is employed to provide a focal plane; 8 bow-tie elements are arranged on the focal plane with careful design to show a performance of broadband, high gain, well compact, and easy assembling. These characteristics of the detector are preferred for detecting weak THz signal. Measured far field shows that the radiation pattern of each element is shifted angularly, by ≈9°, which can be used for THz imaging. Tested responsivity of the detector shows a good spectral performance from 260 to 400 GHz: respective values were ≥220 V/W, and the best NEP is achieved at about 60 pW/. Besides that, the proposed antenna has advantages of simple structure, easy fabrication, and low cost.

Choking under pressure occurs when an individual experiences a decrease in performance despite their efforts to perform well. The self-focus approach suggests that pressure increases conscious attention on the performance process, disrupting the automatic or overlearned nature of execution. Hemispheric asymmetries in the brain and skilled performance indicate that left-hemispheric activity decreases, while right-hemispheric activity enhances. Previous studies have attempted to prevent choking by inhibiting the left hemisphere or enhancing the right hemisphere's activity. This study examined whether increased hemispheric activity priming can extenuate motor skill failure under pressure in badminton tasks. The study involved 32 right-handed college students who completed five conditions in pressure-free blocks versus choking under-pressure blocks with priming intervention. Results showed a significant improvement in motor learning from pre- to post-tests, but participants still choked under pressure during skill execution. Furthermore, the priming strategy (hand squeezing) did not alleviate the pressure to benefit performance. The study provides evidence of performance decrements under pressure conditions, and the priming strategy did not alleviate choking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
