Scientific studies related to resistance training have considered many variables; however, the tempo of movement of particular repetitions is often neglected or not reported in resistance training practice and research. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of different duration of the eccentric (ECC) phase of movement on one-repetition maximum test (1RM) results during the bench press exercise (BP). Twenty-one strength trained females (age = 23.4 ± 2.2 years, body mass = 52.3 ± 6.7 kg), with a minimum one year of strength training experience took part in the study. The experiment was conducted following a randomized crossover design, where each participant completed the 1RM test in the BP with three different duration times of the ECC movement: 2/0/X, 4/0/X, 6/0/X. Concentric (CON) movement was performed with maximal velocity (X). The ANOVA with repeated measures were used to compare the differences between the analyzed variables. The results of the study indicated the maximal load in the 1RM test was significantly higher during the BP with the 2/0/X tempo compared to 6/0/X (p < 0.01) and 4/0/X tempos (p < 0.01). Therefore, the results indicated that the longer the duration of the ECC phase of movement, the greater the decrease in the result of the 1RM test. The 1RM test procedure should include information about the movement tempo used during the test protocol.

Se generó una base de datos conformada por 184 fechados georreferenciados procedentes de sitios arqueológicos de la provincia del Neuquén. Doce de ellos –realizados a partir de restos óseos humanos y faunísticos– son originales y algunos de ellos corresponden a áreas geográficas para las que aún no se contaba con datos. Se efectuaron análisis cuantitativos temporo-espaciales. Los resultados obtenidos sobre la base de datos cronológicos y geográficos permiten caracterizar el proceso de ocupación humana de Neuquén como temprano, mayormente continuo a lo largo del tiempo y espacialmente discontinuo. La profundidad temporal del poblamiento alcanza ca. 12.000 años calibrados AP y la ocupación del espacio se incrementó significativamente hacia el Holoceno tardío. La distribución de los sitios es discontinua y muestra concentraciones en áreas particulares cercanas a los cursos de agua permanente, mayoritariamente pericordilleranas, en tanto que en los espacios intermedios –las amplias planicies del este– no se registró una señal arqueológica marcada., A database was generated consisting of 184 georeferenced dates from archaeological sites in Neuquén Province. Twelve of these dates −taken from human and faunal bone remains− are original, and some correspond to geographical areas for which data were not previously available. Quantitative spatial-temporal analyzes were carried out. The results obtained on the basis of chronological and geographical data allow Neuquén’s human occupation process to be characterized as early, mostly continuous over time, and spatially discontinuous. The temporal depth of the settlement reaches ca. 12,000 years BP calibrated, with spacial occupation increasing significantly towards the late Holocene. The spatial distribution of the sites is discontinuous and shows concentrations in particular areas near the permanent water courses, mostly near the Andes, while in the intermediate spaces −the wide plains of the east− a marked archaeological signal was not recorded., Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo

En este trabajo se presentan datos sobre los estudios arqueológicos desarrollados en la Isla Victoria, Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi. Se incluyen los datos inéditos generados por uno de los autores (A. H.) hace más de 30 años en el marco de los nuevos proyectos y la revisita a los sitios. Hasta el momento, se documentaron 30 sitios arqueológicos en la isla. Se describe la excavación del sitio Puerto Tranquilo 1 (PT1) y se presentan los materiales recuperados y los análisis realizados. Los resultados muestran dos periodos diferenciables en la ocupación del espacio insular, uno inicial, hacia el 2000 AP, y otro tardío, pos 640 AP. Finalmente, se discuten estos datos en relación con la información regional disponible para el Holoceno tardío. In this paper, a series of data on archaeological studies carried out in Isla Victoria, Nahuel Huapi National Park, is presented, including unpublished work produced by one of the authors (A. H.) more than 30 years ago, as well as new projects in the area. To date, 30 archaeological sites have been documented on the Island. The excavation of the PT1 site is described and an initial characterization of the recovered materials made. Two occupation events were detected: an initial one ca. 2000 BP, and a late one after ca. 640 BP.
