However, they are time consuming to administer. Therefore, researchers and psychologists have explored the possibility of shorter test battery compositions. (2) Methods: In this study, we investigated 13 potential short forms of the Indonesian version of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV-ID). An existing standardization data set of 1745 Indonesian participants collected for the validation of the WAIS-IV-ID was used to examine the short forms' validity. These ranged from 2-subtest versions to 7-subtest versions. Regression analyses with goodness-of-fit measures were performed, and regression equations were determined for each short form to estimate the Full Scale IQ (FSIQ) score. Discrepancies between the FSIQ and the estimated FSIQ (FSIQ(Est)) scores were examined and classification accuracies were calculated for each short form (% agreement of intelligence classification between the FSIQ(Est) and FSIQ). (3) Results: None of the 13 short form FSIQ(Est) values significantly differed from the FSIQ scores based on the full WAIS-IV-ID, and strong correlations were observed between each of these values. The classification accuracies of the short forms were between 56.8% and 81.0%. The 4-subtest short form of the WAIS-IV-ID consisting of the subtests Matrix Reasoning, Information, Arithmetic, and Coding had the optimal balance between best classification values and a short administration duration. The validity of this short form was demonstrated in a second study in an independent sample (N = 20). (4) Conclusions: Based on the results presented here, the WAIS-IV-ID short forms are able to reliably estimate the FSIQ, with a significant shorter administration duration. The WAIS-IV-ID short form consisting of four subtests, Matrix Reasoning, Information, Arithmetic, and Coding, was the best version according to our criteria.

So far, unfortunately, it is not accompanied by the development of a performance validity test (PVT). According to international neuropsychological standards, using PVTs is essential to determine the validity of the neuropsychological test results. To date, there is no single standardized PVT available in Indonesia. In this article, we describe (1) the concept of performance validity testing, (2) the detection strategy, and (3) the procedure of PVT. Furthermore, several factors which affect PVT failure and its implication on the interpretation of a neuropsychological assessment are discussed. Considering the importance of PVTs incorporation and that it has become a standard by some neuropsychological associations, it is crucial to develop PVTs in Indonesia. Finally, the utilization of PVT should be performed cautiously, as many factors might influence the PVT result., 22 p.

Affect is involved in many psychological phenomena, but a descriptive structure, long sought, has been elusive. Valence and arousal are fundamental, and a key question–the focus of the present study–is the relationship between them. Valence is sometimes thought to be independent of arousal, but, in some studies (representing too few societies in the world) arousal was found to vary with valence. One common finding is that arousal is lowest at neutral valence and increases with both positive and negative valence: a symmetric Vshaped relationship. In the study reported here of self-reported affect during a remembered moment (N = 8,590), we tested the valence-arousal relationship in 33 societies with 25 different languages. The two most common hypotheses in the literature–independence and a symmetric V-shaped relationship–were not supported. With data of all samples pooled, arousal increased with positive but not negative valence. Valence accounted for between 5% (Finland) and 43% (China Beijing) of the variance in arousal. 29 juli 2021, Item does not contain fulltext, Many studies have evaluated the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) validity and reliability. Unfortunately, research on PID-5 in Southeast Asian countries is still limited. This study aimed to identify the structural validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of PID-5. We involved 963 participants, and 68 of these participants filled the PID-5 twice. Facets and domains showed a satisfactory test–retest reliability (median r for facets = .84; median r for domains = .88), and acceptable McDonald’s omega indices (median ω for facets = .85; median ω for domains = .79). The hierarchical factor structure suggested that five-factor solution was interpretable, and this model showed a high congruency to its original version (ϕ = .97). Unfortunately, we could not achieve a model fit of this five-factor model. We hypothesized that the cultural influence and sample characteristics might explain this poor model fit. Finally, cautious administration and interpretation of PID-5 in Indonesia are highly recommended.

Item does not contain fulltext, This study attempts to provide a portrayal of emotional intelligence (EI) of the Indonesians, one of the fourth most populous countries and multiethnic societies in the world, specifically across the 404 Bataks, 430 Minangkabau, and 479 Javanese ethnics. The result indicated that the Indonesian version of the EQ-i is invariant across the three ethnic groups. The findings also showed that the three ethnic groups have some shared characteristics in terms of interpersonal, assertiveness, empathy, social responsibility, flexibility, and problem-solving competences. We found significant main effects of ethnicity and gender as well as the interaction effect on EI competences. Cross-ethnic comparison showed that the Minangkabau assessed in this study are the most underdeveloped group in terms of social and emotional capabilities. We recommend replications of this study for other Indonesian ethnic groups to draw a more valid conclusion and to support the development of society.

The same structure found as in the American WAIS-IV (WAIS-IV-US; Suwartono, Hendriks, Hidajat, Halim, & Kessels, 2015). Despite its strong internal structure, the validity of WAIS-IV-ID should be further evaluated by external criteria. In this research, we investigated the external validity of WAIS-IV-ID using other intelligence tests and educational achievement as criteria. We had 194 participants in total, but not all the participant was willing to do all the tests. The results showed the Full-Scale IQ score (FSIQ) of the WAIS-IV-ID had moderate yet significant correlation with three intelligence tests, namely Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM, n = 194), Cattell's Culture Fair Intelligence Test (CFIT, n = 134), and the Wechsler-Bellevue Intelligence Scale (WBIS, n = 44). There was also a significant positive correlation between the FSIQ and educational achievement score that represented by college Grade Point Average (GPA, n = 51). The four indexes of the WAIS-IV-ID had a significant positive correlation with the SPM, CFIT, and WBIS, except for Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI). We found significant correlations between full-scale IQ with GPA. For the index score, we found significant correlations between Processing Speed Index (PSI) with GPA but not with other indexes. We conclude that the WAIS-IV-ID is valid externally. Future direction for validation is examining the diagnostic utility of WAIS-IV with special groups.

We applied the Indonesian version of the Attachment Style Questionnaire (ASQ) on 1313 Indonesians from three ethnically diverse samples (404 Bataks, 430 Minangkabau, and 479 Javanese). We assessed demographic factors which consist of the roles of the living-with-family experience (M = 19.58 years), age (M = 24.34 years old), sex (man = 43.4 %), and ethnicity in attachment dimensions development. Pearson’s correlation analyses revealed negative correlations between the living-with-family experience as well as age and the two attachment dimensions, Need for approval and confirmation by others and Preoccupation with relationships. Group comparison analyses found significant differences for the five scales of ASQ among sex and ethnic groups. We also found a significant main effect of age and ethnicity on some of the ASQ scales.

However, instruments such as Wechsler-Bellevue Intelligence Scale are outdated, have not been validated and lack proper normative data, resulting in measurement errors and invalid decisions made on the intellectual potential of individuals. The primary aim of this study was to adapt and validate the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale - fourth edition (WAIS-IV) for use in Indonesia. We described the first phase in the adaptation of the WAIS-IV in the Indonesian language, including translation, item analysis, and reliability of the subtests. The sample of this research consisted of 148 healthy participants who are representative for the Indonesian population with respect to gender, age groups (ages 16 to 83), educational levels, and ethnic background. Results showed that the sequence of the US WAIS-IV cannot be applied in Indonesia due to differences in index difficulties. Cronbach’s coefficient alphas for the WAIS-IV subtests ranged from .74 - .92. For the subtests from the Verbal Comprehension Index, the inter-rater agreement ranged between .91 - .97. In all, the adaptation of the WAIS-IV for Indonesia is psychometrically promising.

Most people hold beliefs about personality characteristics typical of members of their own and others' cultures. These perceptions of national character may be generalizations from personal experience, stereotypes with a "kernel of truth," or inaccurate stereotypes. We obtained national character ratings of 3989 people from 49 cultures and compared them with the average personality scores of culture members assessed by observer ratings and self-reports. National character ratings were reliable but did not converge with assessed traits. Perceptions of national character thus appear to be unfounded stereotypes that may serve the function of maintaining a national identity.
