Visual impairment affects the ability of people to live a life like normal people. Such people face challenges in performing activities of daily living, such as reading, writing, traveling and participating in social gatherings. Many traditional approaches are available to help visually impaired people; however, these are limited in obtaining contextually rich environmental information necessary for independent living. In order to overcome this limitation, this paper introduces a novel wearable vision assistance system that has a hat-mounted camera connected to a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (8GB RAM) with artificial intelligence (AI) technology to deliver real-time feedback to a user through a sound beep mechanism. The key features of this system include a user-friendly procedure for the recognition of new people or objects through a one-click process that allows users to add data on new individuals and objects for later detection, enhancing the accuracy of the recognition over time. The system provides detailed descriptions of objects in the user's environment using a large vision language model (LVLM). In addition, it incorporates a distance sensor that activates a beeping sound using a buzzer as soon as the user is about to collide with an object, helping to ensure safety while navigating their environment. A comprehensive evaluation is carried out to evaluate the proposed AI-based solution against traditional support techniques. Large language models (LLMs) are effective at capturing complex, valuable conceptual representations from textual data for a wide range of real-world applications. However, in fields like Intelligent Fault Diagnosis (IFD), incorporating additional sensor data-such as vibration signals, temperature readings, and operational metrics-is essential but it is challenging to capture such sensor data information within traditional text corpora. This study introduces a novel IFD approach by effectively adapting LLMs to numerical data inputs for identifying various machine faults from time-series sensor data. We propose FD-LLM, an LLM framework specifically designed for fault diagnosis by formulating the training of the LLM as a multi-class classification problem. We explore two methods for encoding vibration signals: the first method uses a string-based tokenization technique to encode vibration signals into text representations, while the second extracts statistical features from both the time and frequency domains as statistical summaries of each signal. We assess the fault diagnosis capabilities of four open-sourced LLMs based on the FD-LLM framework, and evaluate the models' adaptability and generalizability under various operational conditions and machine components, namely for traditional fault diagnosis, cross-operational conditions, and cross-machine component settings. In spite of the recent progress in speech processing, the majority of world languages and dialects remain uncovered. This situation only furthers an already wide technological divide, thereby hindering technological and socioeconomic inclusion. This challenge is largely due to the absence of datasets that can empower diverse speech systems. In this paper, we seek to mitigate this obstacle for a number of Arabic dialects by presenting Casablanca, a large-scale community-driven effort to collect and transcribe a multi-dialectal Arabic dataset. The dataset covers eight dialects: Algerian, Egyptian, Emirati, Jordanian, Mauritanian, Moroccan, Palestinian, and Yemeni, and includes annotations for transcription, gender, dialect, and code-switching. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) defines a low-level, step-by-step written guide for a business software workflow. SOP generation is a crucial step towards automating end-to-end software workflows. Manually creating SOPs can be time-consuming. Recent advancements in large video-language models offer the potential for automating SOP generation by analyzing recordings of human demonstrations. However, current large video-language models face challenges with zero-shot SOP generation. In this work, we first explore in-context learning with video-language models for SOP generation. We then propose an exploration-focused strategy called In-Context Ensemble Learning, to aggregate pseudo labels of multiple possible paths of SOPs. The proposed in-context ensemble learning as well enables the models to learn beyond its context window limit with an implicit consistency regularisation. We report that in-context learning helps video-language models to generate more temporally accurate SOP, and the proposed in-context ensemble learning can consistently enhance the capabilities of the video-language models in SOP generation., Comment: To appear in NeurIPS Workshop on Video-Language Models 2024

This study investigates the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) for improved depression detection from users social media data. Through the use of fine-tuned GPT 3.5 Turbo 1106 and LLaMA2-7B models and a sizable dataset from earlier studies, we were able to identify depressed content in social media posts with a high accuracy of nearly 96.0 percent. The comparative analysis of the obtained results with the relevant studies in the literature shows that the proposed fine-tuned LLMs achieved enhanced performance compared to existing state of the-art systems. This demonstrates the robustness of LLM-based fine-tuned systems to be used as potential depression detection systems. Continuous Sign Language Recognition (CSLR) focuses on the interpretation of a sequence of sign language gestures performed continually without pauses. In this study, we conduct an empirical evaluation of recent deep learning CSLR techniques and assess their performance across various datasets and sign languages. The models selected for analysis implement a range of approaches for extracting meaningful features and employ distinct training strategies. To determine their efficacy in modeling different sign languages, these models were evaluated using multiple datasets, specifically RWTH-PHOENIX-Weather-2014, ArabSign, and GrSL, each representing a unique sign language. The performance of the models was further tested with unseen signers and sentences. The conducted experiments establish new benchmarks on the selected datasets and provide valuable insights into the robustness and generalization of the evaluated techniques under challenging scenarios., Comment: This work has been submitted to the IEEE for possible publication

Advances in deepfake research have led to the creation of almost perfect manipulations undetectable by human eyes and some deepfakes detection tools. Recently, several techniques have been proposed to differentiate deepfakes from realistic images and videos. This paper introduces a Frequency Enhanced Self-Blended Images (FSBI) approach for deepfakes detection. This proposed approach utilizes Discrete Wavelet Transforms (DWT) to extract discriminative features from the self-blended images (SBI) to be used for training a convolutional network architecture model. The SBIs blend the image with itself by introducing several forgery artifacts in a copy of the image before blending it. This prevents the classifier from overfitting specific artifacts by learning more generic representations. These blended images are then fed into the frequency features extractor to detect artifacts that can not be detected easily in the time domain. Autonomous agents operating around human actors must consider how their behaviors might affect those humans, even when not directly interacting with them. To this end, it is often beneficial to be predictable and appear naturalistic. Existing methods to address this problem use human actor intent modeling or imitation learning techniques, but these approaches rarely capture all possible motivations for human behavior or require significant amounts of data. In contrast, we propose a technique for modeling naturalistic behavior as a set of convex hulls computed over a relatively small dataset of human behavior. Given this set, we design an optimization-based filter which projects arbitrary trajectories into it to make them more naturalistic for autonomous agents to execute while also satisfying dynamics constraints. We demonstrate our methods on real-world human driving data from the inD intersection dataset (Bock et al., 2020).
