Abstract: High-momentum two-particle correlations are a useful tool for studying jet-quenching effects in the quark-gluon plasma. Angular correlations between neutral-pion triggers and charged hadrons with transverse momenta in the range 4--12~GeV/$c$ and 0.5--7~GeV/$c$, respectively, have been measured by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 for Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$~GeV. Suppression is observed in the yield of high-momentum jet fragments opposite the trigger particle, which indicates jet suppression stemming from in-medium partonic energy loss, while enhancement is observed for low-momentum particles. The ratio and differences between the yield in Au$+$Au collisions and $p$$+$$p$ collisions, $I_{AA}$ and $\Delta_{AA}$, as a function of the trigger-hadron azimuthal separation, $\Delta\phi$, are measured for the first time at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. These results better quantify how the yield of low-$p_T$ associated hadrons is enhanced at wide angle, which is crucial for studying energy loss as well as medium-response effects., Comment: 535 authors from 84 institutions, 12 pages, 8 figures. v2 is version accepted for publication in Physical Review C. 3. Semi-relativistic antisymmetrized molecular dynamics for energetic neutron production in intermediate energy heavy-ion reactions

Abstract: Relativistic corrections have been made in the non-relativistic antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) simulations to apply to the high energy neutron production in the $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C and $^{16}$O+$^{12}$C collisions at incident energies of 290 and 400 MeV/nucleon. The corrections are made in kinematics alone and no nucleon-nucleon inelastic scatterings nor meson productions are taken into account, and AMD with the relativistic corrections is called semi-relativistic AMD. The three-nucleon collision (3NC) and Fermi boost in the collision processes are taken into account in the non-relativistic AMD. Since the relativistic corrections tend to compensate in each other, the difference between the semi-relativistic and non-relativistic results become small. High energy tails of the available experimental neutron double differential cross sections, especially at larger angles, are well reproduced by AMD with the 3NC term both with non-relativistic and semi-relativistic simulations. These results indicate that the high energy neutrons are dominantly produced by the 3NC process in this incident energy range.

This study was designed to investigate the efficiency of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in detecting fetal CNVs.Methods: This retrospective analysis included fetuses with CNVs between January 2018 and December 2020. Karyotype analysis and CNV sequencing (CNV-seq) were performed. We then analyzed the positive predictive values of the subchromosomal microdeletions and microduplications.Results: Fifty-eight subjects with aberrant CNVs were screened after NIPT, among which 44 finally underwent amniocentesis. CNV-seq confirmed the presence of CNVs in 24 cases. This indicated that false positivity rate of NIPT was 45.5%. Among 24 cases with CNVs after CNV-seq, only 4 showed consistent findings with karyotype analysis, which showed that karyotyping analysis yielded a missed diagnosis rate of 83.3% for the genome CNV. Positive predictive value (PPV) was 50.0% for CNVs with a length of < 5 Mb after NIPT screening. PPV for CNVs with a length of 5 Mb-10 Mb was 33.3%, while that for CNVs with a length of ≥ 10Mb was 60%. For CNVs duplication after NIPT, the PPV was 65.2%, while that for deletion was 36.4%.Conclusion: For CNVs detected after NIPT, it should be combined with ultrasonographic findings, karyotype analysis, CNV-seq or CMA to determine the pregnancy outcome. Expanding NIPT may increase the risk of unnecessary invasive surgery and unintended selective termination of pregnancy.Keywords: non-invasive prenatal screening, genome copy number variation, next-generation sequencing, prenatal diagnosis

They received surgery following successful conversion therapy involving lenvatinib. The patients were matched in a 1:1 ratio to with a control group who underwent direct surgery, based on pre-treatment clinical data.Results: The median recurrence-free survival (RFS) duration for the conversion therapy cohort was notably longer than that of the direct surgery cohort (25 months vs 11 months). Furthermore, the 1- and 2-year RFS rates were significantly higher in the conversion therapy group compared to the direct surgery group (1 year: 70.5% vs 40.1%; 2 years: 49.0% vs 19.1%). The survival curves indicated a statistically significantly longer RFS in the conversion therapy cohort compared to the direct surgery cohort (P = 0.007). While patients achieving good remission based on both RECIST 1.1 and mRECIST criteria showed superior median RFS, no significant disparity was observed in the survival curves. The subgroup analysis revealed significantly improved prognosis among patients in the conversion therapy group who were male, older, had a history of alcohol consumption, were non-smokers, had liver cirrhosis, possessed Child-Pugh A liver function, had a tumor diameter exceeding 5 cm, and had an AFP ≥ 400 ng/mL. Among the cohort of 40 patients, only 8 individuals encountered severe adverse reactions, which were managed through dose reduction. None of the patients experienced multiple severe adverse reactions concurrently.Conclusion: For patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma, conversion therapy offers a significantly better prognosis than direct surgery for uHCC patients.Keywords: hepatocellular carcinoma, conversion therapy, recurrence-free survival, hepatic resection

Optimized formulation of luvangetin nanoemulsion by Box-Behnken design (BBD). The antimicrobial activity and antimicrobial mechanism of luvangetin nanoemulsions against common hospital pathogens, ie, Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli), were investigated using luvangetin nanoemulsions. The biosafety of luvangetin nanoemulsion was evaluated through cytotoxicity, apoptosis, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) assay experiments using human normal epidermal cells and endothelial cells. Finally, the effect of luvangetin nanoemulsion on healing of infected wounds was investigated in B6 mice.Results: Luvangetin nanoemulsion formulation consists of 2.5% sunflower seed oil, 10% emulsifier Span-20 and 7 minutes of shear time, and with good stability. Luvangetin nanoemulsion produces antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli by disrupting the structure of bacterial cell membranes. Luvangetin nanoemulsion are biologically safe for HaCat and HUVEC. Luvangetin nanoemulsion showed good therapeutic effect on MRSA infected wounds in mice.Conclusion: For the first time, developed a new formulation called luvangetin nanoemulsion, which exhibited superior antibacterial effects against Gram-positive bacteria. Luvangetin nanoemulsion has a favorable effect in promoting infected wound healing. We have combined luvangetin, which has multiple activities, with nanoemulsions to provide a new topical fungicidal formulation, and have comprehensively evaluated its effectiveness and safety, opening up new possibilities for further applications of luvangetin. Abstract: Solid oral controlled release formulations feature numerous clinical advantages for drug candidates with adequate solubility and dissolution rate. However, most new chemical entities exhibit poor water solubility, and hence are exempt from such benefits. Although combining drug amorphization with controlled release formulation is promising to elevate drug solubility, like other supersaturating systems, the problem of drug recrystallization has yet to be resolved, particularly within the dosage form. Here, we explored the potential of an emerging, non-leachable terpolymer nanoparticle (TPN) pore former as an internal recrystallization inhibitor within controlled release amorphous solid dispersion (CRASD) beads comprising a poorly soluble drug (celecoxib) reservoir and insoluble polymer (ethylcellulose) membrane. Compared to conventional pore former, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), TPN-containing membranes exhibited superior structural integrity, less crystal formation at the CRASD bead surface, and greater extent of celecoxib release. All-atom molecular dynamics analyses revealed that in the presence of TPN, intra-molecular bonding, crystal formation tendency, diffusion coefficient, and molecular flexibility of celecoxib were reduced, while intermolecular H-bonding was increased as compared to PVP. This work suggests that selection of a pore former that promotes prolonged molecular separation within a nanoporous controlled release membrane structure may serve as an effective strategy to enhance amorphicity preservation inside CRASD.

However, the efficacy of monotherapy is still disappointing in a substantial subset of patients, necessitating the exploration of combinational strategies. Emerging from the promising results of the KEYNOTE-942 trial, RNA-based therapies, particularly circRNAs and piRNAs, have distinguished themselves as innovative sensitizers to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). These non-coding RNAs, notable for their stability and specificity, were once underrecognized but are now known for their crucial roles in regulating PD-L1 expression and bolstering anti-cancer immunity. Our manuscript offers a comprehensive analysis of selected circRNAs and piRNAs, elucidating their immunomodulatory effects and mechanisms, thus underscoring their potential as ICIs enhancers. In conjunction with the recent Nobel Prize-awarded advancements in mRNA vaccine technology, our review highlights the transformative implications of these findings for cancer treatment. We also discuss the prospects of circRNAs and piRNAs in future therapeutic applications and research. This study pioneers the synergistic application of circRNAs and piRNAs as novel sensitizers to augment PD-1/PD-L1 inhibition therapy, demonstrating their unique roles in regulating PD-L1 expression and modulating immune responses. All patients accepted preoperative CGA by the multidisciplinary team using 13 common scales across 15 domains reflecting the multi-organ functions. The variables included demographic data, scales in CGA, comorbidities, laboratory tests and intraoperative anesthetic data. Cognitive function was assessed by Montreal Cognitive Assessment scale within 48 hours after admission and after surgery. Dropping of ≥ 1 point between the preoperative and postoperative scale was defined as POCD.Results: We enrolled 119 patients. The median age was 80.00 years [IQR, 77.00, 82.00] and 68 patients (57.1%) were female. Forty-two patients (35.3%) developed POCD. Three cognitive domains including calculation (P = 0.046), recall (P = 0.047) and attention (P = 0.007) were significantly worsened after surgery. Univariate analysis showed that disability of instrumental activity of daily living, incidence rate of postoperative respiratory failure (PRF) ≥ 4.2%, STOP-Bang scale score, Caprini risk scale score and Sufentanil for maintenance of anesthesia were different between the POCD and non-POCD patients. In the multivariable logistic regression analysis, PRF ≥ 4.2% (odds ratio [OR] = 2.343; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.028– 5.551; P = 0.046) and Sufentanil for maintenance of anesthesia (OR = 0.260; 95% CI: 0.057– 0.859; P = 0.044) was independently associated with POCD as risk and protective factors, respectively.Conclusion: Our study suggests that POCD is frequent among older patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgery, in which decline of calculation, recall and attention was predominant. Multivariate COX regression analysis was performed to identify the independent prognostic factors related to recurrence-free survival (RFS). The performance of the developed nomogram was evaluated using various statistical measures, including the concordance index (C-index), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA).Results: Multivariate analysis revealed that tumor diameter, number of tumors, number of involved liver segments, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), carbohydrate antigen 19– 9 (CA19-9), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and systemic immune inflammation index (SII) were independent prognostic factors influencing patients’ RFS, and these factors were incorporated into the nomogram. The C-index of the nomogram in the training cohort was 0.721, and the AUC at 2 and 3 years was 0.772 and 0.790, respectively. These values were appreciably higher than commonly used clinic staging systems and other predictive models. The calibration curve and DCA demonstrated good calibration and net benefit. Survival analysis comparing stage B patients who received radical treatment with stage A patients with multiple lesions did not reveal a significant difference in Kaplan-Meier survival curves (P=0.91).Conclusion: The nomogram provided a precise prediction of the recurrence for stage B hepatocellular carcinoma patients undergoing radical treatment. Abstract: A deep learning based method with the convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm for determining the impact parameters is developed using the constrained molecular dynamics model simulations, focusing on the heavy-ion collisions at the low-intermediate incident energies from several ten to one hundred MeV/nucleon in which the emissions of heavy fragments with the charge numbers larger than 3 become crucial. To make the CNN applicable in the task of the impact parameter determination at the present energy range, specific improvements are made in the input selection, the CNN construction and the CNN training. It is demonstrated from the comparisons of the deep CNN method and the conventional methods with the impact parameter-sensitive observables, that the deep CNN method shows better performance for determining the impact parameters, especially leading to the capability of providing better recognition of the central collision events. With a proper consideration of the experimental filter effect in both training and testing processes to keep consistency with the actual experiments, the good performance of the deep CNN method holds, and shows significantly better in terms of predicting the impact parameters and recognizing the central collision events, compared to that of the conventional methods, demonstrating the superiority of the present deep CNN method. The deep CNN method with the consideration of the filter effect is applied in the deduction of nuclear stopping power. Higher accuracy for the stopping power deduction is achieved benefitting from the better impact parameter determination using the deep CNN method, compared to using the the conventional methods. Abstract: The PHENIX collaboration presents a systematic study of $\pi^0$ production from $p$$+$$p$, $p$$+$Al, $p$$+$Au, $d$$+$Au, and $^{3}$He$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. Measurements were performed with different centrality selections as well as the total inelastic, 0%--100%, selection for all collision systems. For 0%--100% collisions, the nuclear modification factors, $R_{xA}$, are consistent with unity for $p_T$ above 8 GeV/$c$, but exhibit an enhancement in peripheral collisions and a suppression in central collisions. The enhancement and suppression characteristics are similar for all systems for the same centrality class. It is shown that for high-$p_T$-$\pi^0$ production, the nucleons in the $d$ and $^3$He interact mostly independently with the Au nucleus and that the counter intuitive centrality dependence is likely due to a physical correlation between multiplicity and the presence of a hard scattering process. These observations disfavor models where parton energy loss has a significant contribution to nuclear modifications in small systems. Nuclear modifications at lower $p_T$ resemble the Cronin effect -- an increase followed by a peak in central or inelastic collisions and a plateau in peripheral collisions. The peak height has a characteristic ordering by system size as $p$$+$Au $>$ $d$$+$Au $>$ $^{3}$He$+$Au $>$ $p$$+$Al. For collisions with Au ions, current calculations based on initial state cold nuclear matter effects result in the opposite order, suggesting the presence of other contributions to nuclear modifications, in particular at lower $p_T$., Comment: 554 authors from 81 institutions, 21 pages, 13 figures, and 3 tables. 17. Scission configuration in the self-consistent calculations with neck constraint

Abstract: The calculations of the potential energy surface are essential in the theoretical description of the fission process. In the constrained self-consistent approach, the smooth evolution of nuclear shape is described from the ground state until a very elongated one with a narrow neck. In all microscopic calculations, the rupture of the neck at scission is associated with a substantial change of nuclear matter density distribution and rapid energy decrease. In this paper, we show that there is no discontinuity of the potential energy surface at scission when multi-constrained calculations are applied with the neck constraint. An early rupture of the neck at lower quadrupole and octupole moments is discussed as competitive with the conventional fission path. We discuss the neck properties in the scission configuration. We find that the neck radius in the asymmetric fission mode cannot decrease below 2 fm, and the nuclear matter density cannot decrease below the saturation density. Thus, to understand the heterogeneity of tumor-associated neutrophils (TANs) comprehensively in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) at single-cell resolution is necessary and urgent.Materials and Methods: We applied single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) to portray the subtype-specific transcriptome landscape of TANs in advanced NSCLC using nine freshly obtained specimens. The scRNA-seq data were further processed for pseudo-time analysis to depict the developmental trajectory of TANs. Meanwhile, the interplay between TANs and other cell types within tumor microenvironment (TME) was revealed by intercellular interaction analysis.Results: Seven distinct TAN subtypes were defined, of which, the N3 cluster was considered inflammatory phenotype expressing genes encoding multiple chemotactic cytokines, and correlated with inferior overall survival, indicating that N3 might be a pro-tumorigenic TAN subtype. N1 and N5 clusters were considered to be well differentiated and mature neutrophils based on CXCR2 expression and pseudo-time patterns, and both accounted for relatively high proportions in lung adenocarcinoma. In addition, genes related to neutrophil differentiation were discovered. We also found that TAN subtypes interacted most closely with macrophages through chemokine signaling pathways within TME.Conclusion: Our study refined TAN subtypes and mapped the transcriptome landscape of TANs at single-cell resolution in advanced NSCLC, collectively indicating the heterogeneity of TANs in NSCLC. Neutrophil differentiation- and maturation-related genes were also discovered, which shed light on different functions of TAN subclones in tumor immune escape, and may further provide novel targets for immunotherapy. The impact of variables such as interaction size and frequency on the social support individuals receive via social platforms has been studied from the perspective of social networks, and some studies have focused on the role of interaction topics from the perspective of private engagement. Little research has been done on the impact of affect control embedded in social networks. The emotion-first nature of social media and the rise of affect control theory mean that this perspective deserves attention.Methods: This study examined 634 WeChat users by means of an online survey on variables related to social media use, such as social network size, interaction frequency, users’ evaluation of network members, and personal topic involvement, and then tested the influencing mode of these variables on people’s perceived social support through chain mediation analysis using Model 80 of the process in spss.Results: (1) Interaction size influences perceived social support by affecting personal topic involvement; (2) Interaction frequency does not directly mediate the relationship between interaction size and perceived social support, but mediates the relationship in a chain by affecting personal topic involvement; and (3) Social network evaluation not only directly mediates the relationship between interaction size and perceived social support, but also further mediates the relationship by influencing personal topic involvement.Conclusion: The study confirmed the role of affective control in people’s perceived social support through social network interactions. Those people talk about personal matters with individuals who have greater evaluation, potency, and activity in social networks are more likely to get perceived social support. Early diagnosis, finding predictors and controlling risk factors are of great significance for T2DM patients. This study investigated the ability of uric acid (UA), the uric acid to creatinine (CR) ratio (UA/CR) and the uric acid to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (UHR) to assess the kidney function of T2DM patients and determined the relationship between the three indicators and the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).Methods: A total of 1326 adult T2DM patients were enrolled in the current study. Patients were stratified into three groups according to their eGFRs. Spearman correlation was used to analyze the correlation between three indicators and the clinical variables. Logistic regression analysis was used to assess the association between the three indicators and diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and kidney impairment (eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) were then used to assess the ability of UA, UA/CR, and UHR to discriminate kidney impairment in T2DM.Results: UA and UHR demonstrated a positive association with DKD risk (P < 0.05). The odds ratios (ORs) were 1.005 (95% CI, 1.004– 1.007) and 1.057 (95% CI, 1.039– 1.076), respectively. UA/CR was negatively correlated with DKD risk (OR, 0.922 (95% CI, 0.876, 0.970), P < 0.05). Furthermore, UA and UHR demonstrated a strong positive association with kidney impairment risk, while UA/CR was negatively correlated with kidney impairment risk in T2DM patients (P < 0.05 for all) after adjusting for confounding factors. UA had the highest AUC (0.762) among the three indicators. Abstract: The effects of cluster correlations have been studied in the $^{12}$C + $^{12}$C reaction at 50 MeV/nucleon, using three AMD models, the AMD (AMD/D) without any additional cluster correlations, AMD/D-COALS with nucleon correlations based on a coalescence prescription for light cluster formations with $A\leq4$ and AMD-Cluster with an extended cluster correlation in two-nucleon collision processes and a special treatment for intermediate fragment formation with A $\le 9$. The angular distributions and energy spectra of fragments have been simulated and compared with the available experimental data. It is found that the cluster correlations take a crucial role to describe the productions of light charged particles (LCPs) and intermediate mass fragments (IMFs), and the AMD-cluster studied here provides a consistent overall reproduction of the experimental data. It is also shown that the significant effects of the secondary decay processes are involved for the fragment production besides the dynamical productions in the AMD stage. Detailed LCP and IMF production mechanisms involved in the intermediate energy heavy ion collisions are discussed.

26. Experimental density radiography of Wudalianchi volcano with cosmic ray muons

Abstract: Muon radiography is a promising technique to image the internal density structures upto a few hundred meters scale, such as tunnels, pyramids and volcanos, by measuring the flux attenuation of cosmic ray muons after trvaling through these targets. In this study, we conducted an experimantal cosmic ray muon radiography of the Wudalianchi volcano in northeast China for imaging its internal density structures. The muon detector used in this study is made of plastic scintillator and silicon photomultiplier. After about one and a half month observation for the Laoheishan volcano cone in the Wudalianchi volcano, from September 23rd to November 10th, 2019, more than 3 million muon tracks passing the data selection criteria are obtained. Based on the muon observations and the high-resoluiton topography from aerial photogrammetry by unmanned aerial vehicle, the relative density image of the Laoheishan volcano cone is obtained. The experiment in this study is the first muon radiography of volcano performed in China, and the results suggest the feasibility of radiography technique based on plastic scintillator muon detector. As a new passive geophysical imaging method, cosmic ray muon radiography could become a promising method to obtain the high-resoution 2-D and 3-D density structures for shallow geological targets.

Abstract: To maximize the light yield of the liquid scintillator (LS) for the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 t LS sample was produced in a pilot plant at Daya Bay. The optical properties of the new LS in various compositions were studied by replacing the gadolinium-loaded LS in one antineutrino detector. The concentrations of the fluor, PPO, and the wavelength shifter, bis-MSB, were increased in 12 steps from 0.5 g/L and <0.01 mg/L to 4 g/L and 13 mg/L, respectively. The numbers of total detected photoelectrons suggest that, with the optically purified solvent, the bis-MSB concentration does not need to be more than 4 mg/L. To bridge the one order of magnitude in the detector size difference between Daya Bay and JUNO, the Daya Bay data were used to tune the parameters of a newly developed optical model. Then, the model and tuned parameters were used in the JUNO simulation. This enabled to determine the optimal composition for the JUNO LS: purified solvent LAB with 2.5 g/L PPO, and 1 to 4 mg/L bis-MSB., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures

Abstract: We present direct photon-hadron correlations in 200 GeV/A Au$+$Au, $d$$+$Au and $p$$+$$p$ collisions, for direct photon $p_T$ from 5--12 GeV/$c$, collected by the PHENIX Collaboration in the years from 2006 to 2011. We observe no significant modification of jet fragmentation in $d$$+$Au collisions, indicating that cold nuclear matter effects are small or absent. Hadrons carrying a large fraction of the quark's momentum are suppressed in Au$+$Au compared to $p$$+$$p$ and $d$$+$Au. As the momentum fraction decreases, the yield of hadrons in Au$+$Au increases to an excess over the yield in $p$$+$$p$ collisions. The excess is at large angles and at low hadron $p_T$ and is most pronounced for hadrons associated with lower momentum direct photons. Here, we describe a candidemia case caused by a novel drug-resistant Candida auris strain.Case Presentation: An 80-year-old patient, with multiple serious medical conditions, was suffered from candidemia caused by Candida auris, died 9 days after admission in our hospital. Phylogenetic analysis indicates that this C. auris isolate (designated BJCA003) belongs to the South Asian clade, carries the Y132F mutation in the protein Erg11. And antibiotic susceptibility test indicated that BJCA003 is resistant to fluconazole and amphotericin B, not susceptible to caspofungin. In addition, this strain has multiple colony and cellular morphologies under different culture conditions.Conclusion: Strain BJCA003 is a novel drug resistant C. auris strain in mainland China, the Y132F mutation in Erg11 may attribute to fluconazole-resistance, alarming that we still face more challenges about C. auris.Keywords: Candida auris, candidemia, drug-resistant, mutation, morphologies

Of 98 enrolled patients, 37 patients were classified as potentially resectable. We compared the potentially resectable population (PRP) with the non-potentially resectable population (NPRP). The primary study endpoint was conversion rate, and secondary endpoints included progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), and safety.Results: The baseline characteristics were comparable between populations except for a higher proportion of patients with extrahepatic metastases in the NPRP versus PRP (23/61 [37.7%] vs 3/37 [8.1%], respectively; p=0.003). For PRP, the ORR was 67.6% based on RECIST v1.1 (75.7% based on mRECIST), conversion rate was 40.5% (15/37). Of the 15 patients who underwent surgical resection, three achieved complete pathological remission. The median follow-up for all patients was 28 months (range: 2– 47). For NPRP, the ORR was 22.9% based on RECIST v1.1 (31.1% based on mRECIST), The median PFS for PRP was significantly longer than that of NPRP (25 vs 13 months, p = 0.0025). The median OS for PRP was significantly longer than that of NPRP (not reached VS 21 months, p=0.014). Hypertension was the most common grade ≥ 3 adverse reaction in both PRP and NPRP. Outcome indicators included the incidence of POD, changes in Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) scores, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores, and the intraoperative consumption of anesthetics. Data were pooled and analyzed by Review Manager 5.3, and publication bias detection was conducted using Stata 17.0.Results: A meta-analysis containing 715 experimental and 717 control participants from 12 RCTs was performed. The overall results showed that TEAS had obvious superiority with a lower incidence of POD on any day during the postoperative 1 week. In subgroup analyses, the CAM scores on the third postoperative day were significantly lower in the TEAS group than in the control group (MD = − 0.52, 95% CI: − 1.02 to − 0.03, P = 0.04), the VAS scores on the first postoperative day were significantly lower in the TEAS group than in the control group (MD = − 0.19, 95% CI: − 0.36 to − 0.02, P = 0.03), the consumption of propofol and remifentanil were both significantly lower in the TEAS group compared with the control group (MD = − 23.1, 95% CI: − 37.27 to − 8.94, P = 0.001; MD = − 105.69, 95% CI: − 174.20 to − 37.19, P = 0.002). No serious adverse events of TEAS were reported in any of the referenced studies.Conclusion: TEAS has an obvious curative effect in preventing POD and pain in the earlier stage of surgical patients. Abstract: We provide an overview of the status of Monte-Carlo event generators for high-energy particle physics. Guided by the experimental needs and requirements, we highlight areas of active development, and opportunities for future improvements. Particular emphasis is given to physics models and algorithms that are employed across a variety of experiments. These common themes in event generator development lead to a more comprehensive understanding of physics at the highest energies and intensities, and allow models to be tested against a wealth of data that have been accumulated over the past decades. A cohesive approach to event generator development will allow these models to be further improved and systematic uncertainties to be reduced, directly contributing to future experimental success. Event generators are part of a much larger ecosystem of computational tools. They typically involve a number of unknown model parameters that must be tuned to experimental data, while maintaining the integrity of the underlying physics models. Making both these data, and the analyses with which they have been obtained accessible to future users is an essential aspect of open science and data preservation. It ensures the consistency of physics models across a variety of experiments.

Cell-counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and colony assays were used to validate the effect of different NG-R1 concentrations on hPDLSCs proliferation and the optimal concentration was determined. Quantitative detection of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity at optimal concentration and the mineralization of the cells was investigated by Alizarin Red S staining. qRT-PCR and Western blot were utilized to examine the factors expression levels of ALP, Runx Family Transcription Factor 2 (RUNX2), Collagen I (Col-1) and catenin beta 1 (CTNNB1; β-catenin). In addition, the tankyrase inhibitor XAV-939 was used to explore NG-R1’s role in canonical Wnt signaling.Results: hPDLSCs were positive for surface antigens CD90 while negative for CD34 and CD45, which indicated that we have successfully isolated the hPDLSCs. Furthermore, a concentration of 20μmol NG-R1 dramatically enhanced hPDLSCs proliferation, ALP activity, and mineral deposition. ALP, RUNX2, COL-1, and β-catenin expression were all rised in comparison to control group. After XAV-939 was added to disrupt the canonical Wnt signaling, the impact of NG-R1 appeared to be reversed.Conclusion: These findings suggest that NG-R1 can stimulate osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs, which is probably attributable to canonical Wnt signaling activation.Keywords: notoginsenoside R1, NG-R1, human periodontal ligament stem cells, hPDLSCs, osteogenesis, β-catenin

Fifty-gram orthodontic force was applied to all groups. Each group was injected intraperitoneally with corresponding concentration of sinomenine every day. After 14 days, all rats were sacrificed. Micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) scan was used to analyze tooth movement, root resorption and alveolar bone changes. The effect on periodontal tissue was analyzed by Masson, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) and immunohistochemical staining. In vitro, PDLSCs were extracted and identified. The effect of sinomenine on proliferation was determined by cell-counting kit-8. The effect of sinomenine on osteogenesis was investigated by alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and alizarin red staining. qPCR and Western blotting were performed to explore the effects of sinomenine on the expression levels of ALP, runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), receptor activator of nuclear factor kappaB ligand (RANKL) and osteoprotegerin (OPG).Results: The tooth movement and root resorption of sinomenine groups were reduced. Sinomenine decreased trabecular spacing on compression side and increased alveolar bone volume and trabecular thickness on tension side. TRAP-positive cells in sinomenine groups decreased significantly. The expressions of TNF-α and RANKL were decreased, while the expressions of OPG, RUNX2 and osteocalcin were up-regulated. In vitro, 0.1 M and 0.5 M sinomenine enhanced ALP activity, mineral deposition and the expression of ALP, RUNX2 and OPG, and reduced the expression of RANKL.Conclusion: Sinomenine could inhibit tooth movement, reduce root resorption, and exert a positive effect on bone formation in rats. Inadequate postoperative analgesia usually leads to severe postsurgical pain, which could cause patients to suffer from many other related complications. Recently, an increasing number of studies have found that gabapentin can relieve hyperalgesia, postoperative pain, and postoperative inflammation. However, there have been no reports on the use of gabapentin combined with sufentanil preoperatively for acute pain following intraspinal tumor resection.Study Design and Methods: This is a protocol for a randomized, placebo-controlled, and double-blinded trial. One-hundred and sixty-eight participants with chronic pain related to the intraspinal tumor will be randomized into the gabapentin and placebo groups in a 1:1 ratio. In the gabapentin group, patients will be given 300 mg gabapentin orally 36 h, 24 h, and 12 h before surgery; the placebo group will receive a placebo orally at the same time points preoperatively. To estimate the efficacy and safety endpoints, all the researchers and patients will be blinded until the completion of this study. The primary outcome will be the consumption of sufentanil within 48 h postoperatively. The secondary outcomes include the visual analog scale pain score and Von Frey mechanical pain threshold 36 h and 24 h before and 24 h and 48 h after surgery, the incidence of postoperative nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness, the length of hospital stay and medical expenses.Discussion: This trial is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of gabapentin combined with sufentanil for postoperative analgesia in patients who complain of pain before intraspinal tumor resection. Abstract: The PHENIX collaboration presents first measurements of low-momentum ($0.4$1\,GeV/$c$) direct-photon yield $dN_{\gamma}^{\rm dir}/d\eta$ is a smooth function of $dN_{\rm ch}/d\eta$ and can be well described as proportional to $(dN_{\rm ch}/d\eta)^\alpha$ with $\alpha{\approx}1.25$. This scaling behavior holds for a wide range of beam energies at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the Large Hadron Collider, for centrality selected samples, as well as for different, $A$$+$$A$ collision systems. At a given beam energy the scaling also holds for high $p_T$ ($>5$\,GeV/$c$) but when results from different collision energies are compared, an additional $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}$-dependent multiplicative factor is needed to describe the integrated-direct-photon yield., Comment: 673 authors from 82 institutions, 10 pages, 4 figures. v2 is version accepted for publication in Physical Review Letters. Abstract: We have measured direct photons for $p_T<5~$GeV/$c$ in minimum bias and 0\%--40\% most central events at midrapidity for Cu$+$Cu collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. The $e^{+}e^{-}$ contribution from quasi-real direct virtual photons has been determined as an excess over the known hadronic contributions in the $e^{+}e^{-}$ mass distribution. A clear enhancement of photons over the binary scaled $p$$+$$p$ fit is observed for $p_T<4$ GeV/$c$ in Cu$+$Cu data. The $p_T$ spectra are consistent with the Au$+$Au data covering a similar number of participants. The inverse slopes of the exponential fits to the excess after subtraction of the $p$$+$$p$ baseline are 285$\pm$53(stat)$\pm$57(syst)~MeV/$c$ and 333$\pm$72(stat)$\pm$45(syst)~MeV/$c$ for minimum bias and 0\%--40\% most central events, respectively. The rapidity density, $dN/dy$, of photons demonstrates the same power law as a function of $dN_{\rm ch}/d\eta$ observed in Au$+$Au at the same collision energy., Comment: 453 authors from 74 institutions, 12 pages, 8 figures, 2 tables. v3 is version accepted for publication in Physical Review C. Their alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) levels were classified into low and high groups using X-tile software. Each patients’ TMS was calculated as the sum of each tumor marker (low = 0; high = 1).Results: A total of 142 patients were classified as TMS0, 171 as TMS1, and 96 as TMS2. Kaplan–Meier analysis illustrated that TMS could divide the patients into groups with remarkably different prognoses, and the patients with high TMS had worse recurrence-free survival (RFS) than those with low TMS. Multivariate analysis showed that TMS, age, and HBeAg positive were the independent predictors of RFS rate. Subgroup analysis revealed that high TMS was a stable risk factor relative to TMS0. Receiver operating curves showed that the 1-, 3-, and 5-year area under curve (AUC) values of TMS were 0.698, 0.662, and 0.673, respectively. The AUC of TMS was higher than that of other common prognostic models in time-dependent receiver operating curve.Conclusion: TMS was an independent prognostic factor for the postoperative recurrence of a single small HCC and can provide a well-discriminated risk stratification, thus contributing to prognostic prediction and adjuvant therapeutic development.Keywords: hepatocellular carcinoma, recurrence-free survival, tumor marker score, alpha-fetoprotein, carcinoembryonic antigen, carbohydrate antigen 19-9

On the contrary, the evaluation on government governance performance, risks and governance anticipations have more significant impacts. Among the affective factors, personal anxiety and patriotism significantly affect the formation of public attitudes, personal anxiety is positively correlated, and patriotism is negatively correlated. It is important to note that nationalism has no significant influence on public attitudes to COVID-19 policy on a global scale.Conclusion: (1) Social media influences the public COVID-19 policy attitudes through their moderating effect on affective and cognitive factors. (2) The impact of social media on affective pathways is more significant than that on cognitive pathways. (3) The positive moderating effect of social media on patriotism obscures the tendency of strict governance of COVID-19 caused by aggravating people’s anxiety.Keywords: Covid-19, public attitude, social media, cognition, affection, patriotism

This study was aimed to evaluate the potential influence of puerarin on the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) as well as on new bone formation following rapid maxillary expansion (RME) model in rats.Methods: Rat BMSCs were adopted, and the cell proliferation was detected by cell-counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay in vitro experiments. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and alizarin red staining were analyzed quantitatively to show extracellular matrix mineralization. The mRNA and protein expression levels were used to detect osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs. In vivo bone regeneration was analyzed in a rat RME model. Eighteen 6-week-old male Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups: group 1 without any treatment, group 2 received RME and saline solution (15mg/kg), group 3 received RME and puerarin solution (15mg/kg). After 2 weeks, micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT), hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining, and Masson staining were used to detect the new bone formation and morphological changes. Besides, ALP and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) expression levels in mid-palatal suture were evaluated by immunohistochemical staining.Results: The results showed that puerarin upregulates cell proliferation dose-dependently. ALP activity and mineralized matrix generation were clearly enhanced at certain specific concentrations (10− 5 and 10− 6 mol/L); the expression levels of the osteoblast-related genes and proteins were increased. The measurement of micro-CT imaging revealed that puerarin significantly promoted new bone formation. Concomitantly, the histological examinations showed that puerarin solution enhanced osteogenesis in mid-palatal suture.Conclusion: Those works indicated that puerarin regulates osteogenesis in vitro and exerts a beneficial impact on bone regeneration in vivo, revealing that puerarin treatment may become one of the potential keys for improving the stability and preventing relapse of RME.Keywords: bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells, bone regeneration, micro-CT, rapid maxillary expansion

DEP domain-containing 1 B (DEPDC1B) is involved in the development of several cancers; however, its role in LUAD is unknown. Therefore, we aimed to determine the biological function and prognostic value of DEPDC1B in LUAD.Material and Methods: We analyzed the correlation between DEPDC1B expression and the clinical features of LUAD and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). Survival was evaluated by generating Kaplan–Meier curves, which were used to analyze the relationship between DEPDC1B expression and prognosis in LUAD and LUSC. DEPDC1B expression in tumor and normal tissues from patients with LUAD and LUSC was determined using immunohistochemistry, and its clinical significance was analyzed. Finally, the correlation between the expression and biological function of DEPDC1B in LUAD was examined.Results: Our findings revealed that DEPDC1B expression was higher in tumor tissues than that in normal tissues from patients with LUAD and LUSC (P < 0.001). These results were confirmed in clinical samples from patients using immunohistochemistry. Analysis of a dataset from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) showed that high DEPDC1B expression was associated with poor prognosis only in patients with LUAD (P < 0.001). Similarly, high DEPDC1B expression was related to shorter overall survival (OS) and progression-free interval (PFI) in patients with LUAD. These associations were not observed in LUSC. Functional enrichment analysis suggested that DEPDC1B promoted tumor development in LUAD by regulating the cell cycle.Conclusion: High DEPDC1B expression predicts poor prognosis in patients with LUAD. The four non-insulin-based indexes of insulin resistance (IR) include the glucose and triglycerides index (TyG), TyG index with body mass index (TyG-BMI), ratio of triglycerides to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-c) and metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR).Methods: A total of 687 patients with T2DM were enrolled in the current study. Patients were stratified into three groups according to their levels of SUA. Spearman correlation was used to analyze the correlation between SUA and clinical variables. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to assess the association between SUA and the four insulin resistance surrogates. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) were then used to assess the ability of TyG, TyG-BMI, TG/HDL-c, and METS-IR to discriminate hyperuricemia (HUA) in T2DM.Results: SUA in T2DM was significantly positively correlated with TyG (r 0.406 P < 0.01), TyG-BMI (r 0.272 P < 0.01), TG/HDL-c (r 0.493 P < 0.01), and METS-IR (r 0.238 P < 0.01). Furthermore, higher values of the four insulin resistance surrogates were independently correlated with higher SUA levels in T2DM patients (P < 0.01 for all) after adjusting for confounding factors. TyG, TyG-BMI, TG/HDL-c, and METS-IR all had a significant discriminative ability for HUA in patients with T2DM. The AUC values were 0.693 (95% CI 0.645– 0.741), 0.649 (95% CI 0.599– 0.699), 0.768 (95% CI 0.726– 0.811), and 0.660 (95% CI 0.609– 0.710), respectively.Conclusion: The present study suggests that TyG, TyG-BMI, TG/HDL-c and METS-IR had a significant correlation with SUA in T2DM.
