PurposeIn recent years, the relationship between malignant tumors and atrial fibrillation has attracted more and more attention. Atrial fibrillation can also cause a series of adverse events, such as the risk of thromboembolism. Also, Warfarin is often used here. But, the relationship between cutaneous melanoma and atrial fibrillation, and between cutaneous melanoma and warfarin is still unclear. Therefore, we used a two-sample Mendelian randomization to assess the causal relationship between atrial fibrillation/warfarin and cutaneous melanoma (cM).MethodsFirstly, atrial fibrillation (ukb-b-11550; nCase = 3,518, nControl = 459,415) and warfarin (ukb-b-13248; nCase = 4,623, nControl = 458,310) as exposures, with genome-wide association studies (GWAS) data from the United Kingdom Biobank. And cM (ieu-b-4969; nCase = 3,751, nControl = 372,016) as outcome, with GWAS data from the IEU Open GWAS project. Subsequently, single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were filtered from GWAS studies using quality control measures. In addition, two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed to explore the causal relationship between atrial fibrillation or warfarin and cM and used inverse variance weighting (IVW) as the primary analytical method. Finally, relevant heterogeneity and sensitivity analysis were performed to ensure the accuracy of the results.ResultsA causal relationship between atrial fibrillation and cutaneous melanoma was observed, and between warfarin and cutaneous melanoma.ConclusionThe atrial fibrillation may play a causal role in the development of cutaneous melanoma, but the mechanism and the causal relationship between warfarin and cutaneous melanoma needs to be further elucidated.

Aspect-based sentiment analysis(ABSA),as a downstream application of knowledge graph,belongs to the fine-grained sentiment analysis task,which aims to understand the sentiment polarity of people on the evaluation target at the aspect level.Relevant research in recent years has made significant progress,but existing methods focus on exploiting sequentiality or syntactic dependency constraints within sentences,and do not fully exploit the type of dependencies between context words and aspect words.In addition,the existing graph-based convolutional neural network models have insufficient ability to retain node features.In response to this problem,firstly,based on the syntactic dependency tree,this paper fully excavates the dependency types between context words and aspect words,and integrates them into the construction of the dependency graph.Second,we define a “sensitive relation set”,which is used to construct auxiliary sentences to enhance the correlation between specific context words and aspect words,and at the same time,combined with the sentiment knowledge network SenticNet to enhance the sentence dependency graph,and then improve the construction of the graph neural network.Finally,a context retention mechanism is introduced to reduce the information loss of node features in the multilayer graph convolution neural network.The proposed SS-GCN model fuses the syntactic and contextual representations learned in parallel to accomplish sentiment enhancement and syntactic enhancement,and extensive experiments on three public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of SS-GCN.

In the context of rapidly increasing population and diversified market demands, the steady improvement of yield and quality in horticultural crops has become an urgent challenge that modern breeding efforts must tackle. Heterosis, a pivotal theoretical foundation for plant breeding, facilitates the creation of superior hybrids through crossbreeding and selection among a variety of parents. However, the vast number of potential hybrids presents a significant challenge for breeders in efficiently predicting and selecting the most promising candidates. The development and refinement of effective hybrid prediction methods have long been central to research in this field. This article systematically reviews the advancements in hybrid prediction for horticultural crops, including the roles of marker-assisted breeding and genomic prediction in phenotypic forecasting. It also underscores the limitations of some predictors, like genetic distance, which do not consistently offer reliable hybrid predictions. Looking ahead, it explores the integration of phenomics with genomic prediction technologies as a means to elevate prediction accuracy within actual breeding programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effect of ozone treatment on the degradation of two Alternaria mycotoxins, alternariol (AOH) and alternariol monomethyl ether (AME), in both aqueous solution and orange juice was investigated. In addition, the quality of orange juice after ozone treatment was evaluated. The results demonstrated that ozone treatment effectively eliminated AOH and AME. In an aqueous solution, AOH exhibited a reduction of 57.95%, while AME decreased by 40.24% after 5 s treatment. And the two toxins could be almost completely degraded within 40 s. Moreover, an alkaline condition with a pH value of 10 facilitated complete degradation within just 15 s of treatment. Furthermore, higher temperatures may enhance the degradation percentage. Regarding orange juice, the degradation percentages of AOH and AME after ozone treatment for 600 s were recorded as 51.86% and 49.04%, respectively, which were comparatively lower than those observed in aqueous solution. The toxin degradation increased with longer treatment times and higher flow rates, but decreased with the initial concentration of mycotoxins. Meanwhile, the results of the quality evaluation showed that the color and browning index (BI) of orange juice did not change significantly, while the pH value was reduced. Additionally, the clarification, antioxidant properties, and stability of orange juice were significantly improved after ozone treatment. In conclusion, ozone treatment is an effective approach for degrading Alternaria mycotoxins while also improving certain quality parameters within a given treatment time frame. Therefore, it can be considered a promising non‐thermal alternative technology for removing Alternaria mycotoxins from food systems. Practical applications: The Alternaria fungus has the capacity to infect a wide range of crops, with infections occurring during various stages such as planting, transportation, and processing. Ozone technology has been extensively utilized in drinking water treatment, wheat flour treatment, wastewater treatment, aquaculture, and medical industries. However, current methods for controlling mycotoxins fail to meet industry demands for high removal rates, environmental friendliness, efficiency, and convenience as well as low‐cost maintenance required to preserve the sensory quality and nutritional value of food products. Therefore, there is an urgent need to explore novel approaches that can effectively address these challenges in practical production settings. Furthermore, the parameter optimization of specific technologies within the food sector remains underdeveloped and requires further research. In this context, ozone technology holds promise for controlling Alternaria mycotoxins degradation in orange juice while offering valuable insights into toxin degradation within the beverage industry. Alternariol (AOH) and alternariol monomethyl ether (AME) are two Alternaria mycotoxins with high occurrence rates in food systems. This study aimed to investigate the photodegradation of AOH and AME by ultraviolet-C (UV-C) irradiation. The effect of UV-C intensity, pH, treatment time, solvents and the exposure of food components were evaluated. After treated by UV-C irradiation at 3500 μW/cm2 for 90 min, AOH samples in methanol, aqueous solution and solid state were degraded by 89.1%, 72.9% and 53.2%, respectively, while the degradation percentages of AME were 86.6%, 50.1% and 11.1%, respectively. Increasing irradiation intensity and prolonging irradiation time could significantly facilitate the degradation of AOH and AME. An alkaline environment (pH = 11) was more conducive to the degradation of toxins. In addition, 2.5 mg mL−1 citric acid or malic acid increased the photodegradation of AOH and AME to 94.6% and 95.3%, 93.2% and 70.5%, respectively. However, protein, polyphenols and vitamin C exerted inhibitory effects on the degradation, while 10% glucose or sucrose reduced the photodegradation of AOH and AME to 65.9% and 40.3%. UV-C treatment could effectively reduce the content of AOH and AME, with the highest efficiency achieved in methanol and alkaline environment. By contrast, UV-C irradiation is more effective in degrading toxins in some liquid foods rich in organic acids but lacking in protein. The utilization of UV-C radiation appears to be a potentially useful approach for decreasing the underlying risk of Alternaria mycotoxin contamination in foods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Key message : The cucumber male sterility gene ms - 3 was fine mapped in a 76 kb region harboring an MMD1 -like gene Csa3M006660 that may be responsible for the male sterile in cucumber. Abstract: A cucumber ( Cucumis sativus L.) male sterile mutant ( ms- 3) in an advanced-generation inbred line was identified, and genetic analysis revealed that the male sterility trait was controlled by a recessive nuclear gene, ms- 3, which was stably inherited. Histological studies suggested that the main cause of the male sterility was defective microsporogenesis, resulting in no tetrad or microspores being formed. Bulked segregant analysis (BSA) and genotyping of an F population of 2553 individuals were employed used to fine map ms- 3, which was delimited to a 76 Kb region. In this region, a single non-synonymous SNP was found in the Csa3M006660 gene locus, which was predicted to result in an amino acid change. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis of Csa3M006660 was consistent with the fact that it plays a role in the early development of cucumber pollen. The protein encoded by Csa3M006660 is predicted to be homeodomain (PHD) finger protein, and the high degree of sequence conservation with homologs from a range of plant species further suggested the importance of the ms- 3 non-synonymous mutation.
