Achieving supercapacitors with high-performance operation in a low temperature environment is still a great challenge. Herein, an effective strategy that involves carbon cloth in situ grown 2D conductive dithiolene cobalt/nickel 2,3,6,7,10,11-triphenylenehexathiolate was developed to prepare hierarchical porous electrode materials (HTTP-M(Co/Ni)-CC). Without any conductive additive and binders, the specific capacitance values of HTTP-Co-CC and HTTP-Ni-CC reached up to 83.5 and 103.9 F g−1 at 10 mV s−1, respectively, when working at −60 °C. Compared with room-temperature capacitance values, the capacitance retention of HTTP-Co-CC and HTTP-Ni-CC remain 82.7% and 87.1%, respectively, which presents HTTP-Co-CC and HTTP-Ni-CC as unprecedented MOF electrode materials for use in the field of low-temperature energy storage. The outstanding performance at lower temperature can be attributed to an increased conductivity with decreasing temperature, hierarchical pore structures that facilitate the mass transfer of incompletely desolvated electrolyte ions at the interface and a flexible porous carbon cloth substrate that provides buffer space for volume expansion. This study not only demonstrates conductive dithiolene MOF-based electrodes for low-temperature high-performance energy storage, but also provides a promising prospect for the development of robust MOFs as a new family of active materials for supercapacitors operated under low-temperature environments. A general approach to prepare superhydrophobic MOFs (denoted as MOFs-CF3) through a post-decorating strategy for highly efficient chemical fixation of CO2 was demonstrated. The enhanced catalytic activity of MOFs-CF3 is attributed to a synergistic effect between the Lewis acid sites of MOFs and modification of the electron-withdrawing trifluoromethyl group, which resulted in a high CO2 enrichment capacity. The recovery of carbon dioxide (CO2) through carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technology to produce valuable chemicals has good industrial prospects, and it is also an effective method to solve the problem of global warming and achieve sustainable development. Unfortunately, catalysts are needed to realize the chemical conversion of CO2 due to its low reactivity. In this work, we selected transition metal copper ions and rigid triazole organic ligand 4-(1H-1,2, 4-triazol-1-yl)-benzoic acid to synthesize two-dimensional(2D) bilayer coordination polymer containing pentanuclear copper cluster by solvothermal synthesis method, and its molecular formula is [Cu5(TABC)4(COO)2(μ-O)2(NO3)2(H2O)·11H2O] (Cu-TABC). The pentanuclear [Cu5O2(COO)6] cluster forms a 2D layered structure by connecting to linear ligands, and the three-dimensional(3D) supramolecular structure with one-dimensional(1D) channels is formed by π–π interaction between layers and further parallel stacking, in which the channel window is quadrilateral and the size is 11.6 × 11.5 Å. Simultaneously, coordination unsaturated copper ions can be used as Lewis acid sites to catalyze the cycloaddition reaction of CO2 and epoxides. Importantly, Cu-TABC exhibits excellent catalytic performance, recoverability and significant size effect under solvent-free and mild conditions (0.1 MPa and 25 °C). A pentanuclear Cu(II)-based 2D bilayer coordination polymer was used as a heterogeneous catalyst for the cycloaddition reaction of CO2 and epoxides with high activity under mild conditions. A new metal–organic polyhedron with a high surface area of 407 m2 g−1, possessing high CO2 uptake, is reported, which is synthesized using 4-connected Cu2(CO2)4 paddle-wheel moieties and 3-connected semi-rigid tripodal carboxylates. This material possesses a high density of Cu(II) Lewis acidic sites and demonstrates excellent performance as a heterogeneous catalyst for the chemical fixation of CO2 into cyclic carbonates under ambient conditions.
