Abstract In all-day-all-weather tasks, well-aligned multi-modality images pairs can provide extensive complementary information for image-guided UAV target detection. However, multi-modality images in real scenarios are often misaligned, and images registration is extremely difficult due to spatial deformation and the difficulty narrowing cross-modality discrepancy. To better overcome the obstacle, in this paper, we construct a General Cross-Modality Registration (GCMR) Framework, which explores generation registration pattern to simplify the cross-modality image registration into a easier mono-modality image registration with an Image Cross-Modality Translation Network (ICMTN) module and a Multi-level Residual Dense Registration Network (MRDRN). Specifically, ICMTN module is used to generate a pseudo infrared image taking a visible image as input and correct the distortion of structural information during the translation of image modalities. Benefiting from the favorable geometry correct ability of the ICMTN, we further employs MRDRN module which can fully extract and exploit the mutual information of misaligned images to better registered Visible and Infrared image in a mono-modality setting. We evaluate five variants of our approach on the public Anti-UAV datasets. The extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed architecture achieves state-of-the-art performance.

Abstract For the problem that the existing chirp scaling algorithm based on the method of series reversion (MSRCSA) needs to approximate the range cell migration (RCM) into a linear term of range and causes a larger range cell migration correction (RCMC) error, we propose an improved MSRCSA, which is able to focus azimuth‐variation bistatic SAR. Firstly, to avoid the linear approximation for RCM, this paper derives a new curvature factor varying with the azimuth frequency and range, utilizing to describe RCM without any approximation. Secondly, since the new curvature factor is different with the traditional curvature factor varying only with the azimuth frequency, a new scaling function is given to modulate the echo signal so that the required range‐variant RCMC shift can be implemented by using phase multiplies. Thirdly, the proposed MSRCSA is implemented by utilizing three phase multiplications and four fast Fourier transforms (FFTs). Finally, the good performance of the proposed MSRCSA is examined by comparing the imaging result of the proposed MSRCSA with that of the existing MSRCSA.

A global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-based multistatic radar is explored for target localization and kinematic state estimation. Since any point on the earth can be illuminated by a minimum of four satellites of each GNSS constellation at any time, GNSS-based passive radars can be inherently considered multistatic radars. In this paper, a method for jointly estimating the target position and velocity by utilizing both the time delays and Doppler shifts has been proposed, and an analytical accuracy analysis is also provided. In the new method, the bistatic range and Doppler for each path are firstly estimated by the range-Doppler (RD) method, and then by using the bistatic ranges and Doppler shifts. The least squares method is applied to estimate the target position and velocity simultaneously. Compared with the precedent target localization and velocity estimation method, the proposed method achieves a better estimation result with simple procedures. Simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

An atmospheric refractivity inversion method based on deep learning is introduced. Atmospheric duct is an anomalous phenomenon of electromagnetic waves in the atmosphere that affects the use of radio equipment, obtaining real-time atmospheric duct information is of great significance for ship communication, navigation and radar detection. In order to achieve a real-time inversion system, a multilayer perceptron (MLP), a quintessential deep learning model is chosen as the inversion method. After trial-and-error, a five-hidden-layer MLP with rectified linear unit activation function is chosen. Since refractivity inversion is a regression problem, the mean-squared error is utilized to construct the loss function, and the adaptive moment estimation (Adam) algorithm is chosen to accelerate the training convergence. A pregenerated database is used to train the MLP, and thus invert the refractivity profile. The results demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of this MLP-based inversion method.

Clutter cancellation and long time integration are two vital steps for global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-based bistatic radar target detection. The former eliminates the influence of direct and multipath signals on the target detection performance, and the latter improves the radar detection range. In this paper, the extensive cancellation algorithm (ECA), which projects the surveillance channel signal in the subspace orthogonal to the clutter subspace, is first applied in GNSS-based bistatic radar. As a result, the clutter has been removed from the surveillance channel effectively. For long time integration, a modified version of the Fourier transform (FT), called long-time integration Fourier transform (LIFT), is proposed to obtain a high coherent processing gain. Relative acceleration (RA) is defined to describe the Doppler variation results from the motion of the target and long integration time. With the estimated RA, the Doppler frequency shift compensation is carried out in the LIFT. This method achieves a better and robust detection performance when comparing with the traditional coherent integration method. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed processing method.

Marinesco-Sjögren syndrome(MSS) is a rare autosomal recessive inherited disease characterized by cerebellar ataxia, early-onset cataracts, chronic myopathy, and intellectual disability and developmental delay at varied degrees. Some patients may manifest such symptoms as short stature, hypergonadotropic hypogonadism, various skeletal abnormalities resulted from the muscular weakness, and others. This article reports the clinical and molecular diagnosis process of two MSS cases with global developmental delay. We found the compound heterozygous variants c.109delG(p.Glu37Serfs*4)and c.353G > C (p.Arg118Thr), c.443delA(p.Lys148Argfs*10)and c.707A > G (p.Asn236Ser) by Trio-whole exome sequencing(Trio-WES)which are evaluated as pathogenic, and uncertain significant, pathogenic and likely pathogenic variants separately.We provided genetic consultation based on the molecular diagnosis and evaluated the risk for the offsprings in the families. By introducing the two cases and literature review, this article aims at improving the understanding of MSS and providing reference to the diagnosis of the disease.

Abstract Background Tall wheatgrass is a perennial salt‐tolerant bunchgrass, which is a promising candidate for establishing a “Coastal Grass Belt” in China, particularly in the coastal saline–alkaline soils surrounding the Bohai Sea. Methods Seven harvesting treatments were performed to explore the optimal harvesting time and frequency for tall wheatgrass in coastal area. The dry matter yield (DMY) and forage nutritional values were investigated for each cut. The correlation between harvesting time and frequency thereof among the investigated traits was also determined. Results The results showed that the two‐cut on June 18 and October 29 produced the highest DMY. Another two‐cut on May 26 and October 29 produced a relatively high crude protein (CP) yield. The DMY, contents of neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), and crude cellulose (CC) as well as CP yield were positively correlated to plant height, while the CP content and the relative feed value (RFV) were negatively correlated to plant height. The accumulating growing degree days, accumulated precipitation, and sunshine duration were positively correlated with plant height, DMY, contents of NDF, ADF, and CC as well as CP yield, but negatively correlated with CP content and RFV for the first cut. Conclusions The two‐cut treatment at the end of May and October may be suitable for tall wheatgrass in the “Coastal Grass Belt” targeted area.

BackgroundElevated PPP4C expression has been associated with poor prognostic implications for patients suffering from lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). The extent to which PPP4C affects immune cell infiltration in LUAD, as well as the importance of associated genes in clinical scenarios, still requires thorough investigation.MethodsIn our investigation, we leveraged both single-cell and comprehensive RNA sequencing data, sourced from LUAD patients, in our analysis. This study also integrated datasets of immune-related genes from InnateDB into the framework. Our expansive evaluation employed various analytical techniques; these included pinpointing differentially expressed genes, constructing WGCNA, implementing Cox proportional hazards models. We utilized these methods to investigate the gene expression profiles of PPP4C within the context of LUAD and to clarify its potential prognostic value for patients. Subsequent steps involved validating the observed enhancement of PPP4C expression in LUAD samples through a series of experimental approaches. The array comprised immunohistochemistry staining, Western blotting, quantitative PCR, and a collection of cell-based assays aimed at evaluating the influence of PPP4C on the proliferative and migratory activities of LUAD cells.ResultsIn lung cancer, elevated expression levels of PPP4C were observed, correlating with poorer patient prognoses. Validation of increased PPP4C levels in LUAD specimens was achieved using immunohistochemical techniques. Experimental investigations have substantiated the role of PPP4C in facilitating cellular proliferation and migration in LUAD contexts. Furthermore, an association was identified between the expression of PPP4C and the infiltration of immune cells in these tumors. A prognostic framework, incorporating PPP4C and immune-related genes, was developed and recognized as an autonomous predictor of survival in individuals afflicted with LUAD. This prognostic tool has demonstrated considerable efficacy in forecasting patient survival and their response to immunotherapeutic interventions.ConclusionThe involvement of PPP4C in LUAD is deeply intertwined with the tumor’s immune microenvironment. PPP4C’s over-expression is associated with negative clinical outcomes, promoting both tumor proliferation and spread. A prognostic framework based on PPP4C levels may effectively predict patient prognoses in LUAD, as well as the efficacy of immunotherapy strategy. This research sheds light on the mechanisms of immune interaction in LUAD and proposes a new strategy for treatment.

Abstract During the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, both high levels of post-traumatic stress and positive personal changes, a phenomenon known as post-traumatic growth (PTG), were experienced by some people. What remains unknown are the constructs and facilitators of PTG during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study uses a grounded theory methodology to elucidate the behavioral and cognitional dimensions of PTG in Chinese college students. Twenty-four individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with Chinese college students who had positive experiences during the epidemic. Transcripts were analyzed using initial and focused coding to identify themes that explained the PTG model. The coding results revealed that the Chinese college students’ PTG consisted of four core themes: reflections on the country and society, self-awareness changes, increased social behavior, and lifestyle modifications. Additionally, participants described external factors such as information input and patriotism, which were identified as influencing their PTG during the pandemic. Findings from this study extend prior theory and research by conceptualizing a novel theoretical model for PTG among college students during the pandemic and provide important implications for research and practice.

Abstract The imbalance of land cover categories is a common problem. Some categories appear less frequently in the image, while others may occupy the vast majority of the proportion. This imbalance can lead the classifier to tend to predict categories with higher frequency of occurrence, while the recognition effect on minority categories is poor. In view of the difficulty of land cover remote sensing image multi-target semantic classification, a semantic classification method of land cover remote sensing image based on depth deconvolution neural network is proposed. In this method, the land cover remote sensing image semantic segmentation algorithm based on depth deconvolution neural network is used to segment the land cover remote sensing image with multi-target semantic segmentation; Four semantic features of color, texture, shape and size in land cover remote sensing image are extracted by using the semantic feature extraction method of remote sensing image based on improved sequential clustering algorithm; The classification and recognition method of remote sensing image semantic features based on random forest algorithm is adopted to classify and identify four semantic feature types of land cover remote sensing image, and realize the semantic classification of land cover remote sensing image. The experimental results show that after this method classifies the multi-target semantic types of land cover remote sensing images, the average values of Dice similarity coefficient and Hausdorff distance are 0.9877 and 0.9911 respectively, which can accurately classify the multi-target semantic types of land cover remote sensing images.

Object detection under hazy weather conditions is a huge challenge due to the serious obscuration by fog. Recently, to improve detection accuracy in inclement weather, some excellent specifically designed algorithms for foggy conditions have been presented to identify objects from hazy images. However, applied to the detection task in hazy weather, state-of-the-art (SOTA) solutions have to change the architectures and training parameters of existing widely used original object detectors for clear weather, resulting in the waste of resources. To deal with this problem, in this work we propose a plug-and-play aerial object detector under foggy conditions, without the need of altering the structures and retraining the parameters of original task networks at all. The proposed algorithm includes an image enhancement and fusion branch working with a well-known SOTA object detection network for fine weather conditions, where this original detector is completely intact. The novel branch consists of a haze feature elimination module and an object feature restoration module, which are developed to remove fog information and recover clean object feature pyramid, respectively. Moreover, we also propose a detection feature pyramid loss function to more accurately restore object features. Experimental results show that the proposed plug-and-play aerial object detection framework performs well in not only fine weather but hazy weather conditions, while remaining the architecture and parameters of the original detection task network unchanged. This proposed flexible framework can be adapted to adverse weather conditions in all situations.

Abstract To improve the corrosion resistance of TiNi alloy fabricated by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), a porous oxidation layer was synthesized by micro-arc oxidation in a sodium aluminate and sodium silicate electrolyte. The influences of the applied voltage and the processing time on the morphology of oxidation layer were investigated, and the corrosion behavior of the oxidation layer in artificial saliva was evaluated and compared with that of the as-fabricated LPBF alloy. The results indicate that, as increasing the applied voltage and the processing time, the oxidation layer becomes uniform and integrated. The optimum parameters are with an applied voltage of 450 V and processing time of 40 min. The oxidation layer primarily contains α-Al2O3 and consists of two layers, i.e., a thin, compact and uniform inner layer and a porous outer layer. The formation of stable α-Al2O3 phase in the coating and its almost non-porous dense structure reduce the channels for corrosion ions to penetrate into the substrate through coating, thereby improving the corrosion resistance of TiNi alloy.

Recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV)-based gene therapy is entering clinical and commercial stages at an unprecedented pace. Triple transfection of HEK293 cells is currently the most widely used platform for rAAV manufacturing. Here, we develop low-cis triple transfection that decreases transgene plasmid use by 10- to 100-fold and overcomes several major limitations associated with standard triple transfection. This new method improves packaging of yield-inhibiting transgenes by up to 10-fold, and generates rAAV batches with reduced plasmid backbone contamination that otherwise cannot be eliminated in downstream processing. When tested in mice and compared with rAAV produced by standard triple transfection, low-cis rAAV shows comparable or superior potency and results in diminished plasmid backbone DNA and RNA persistence in tissue. Mechanistically, low-cis triple transfection relies on the extensive replication of transgene cassette (i.e., inverted terminal repeat-flanked vector DNA) in HEK293 cells during production phase. This cost-effective method can be easily implemented and is widely applicable to producing rAAV of high quantity, purity, and potency.

The research on laser induced breakdown mechanism of charge coupled devices (CCDs) brings new insights into photoelectric countermeasures. So far combined laser irradiation has been proved to be a more effective measure to destroy CCD. Due to the limitation of short-pulse laser combination method, the mechanism of CCD damage caused by combined short-pulse laser remains unexplored. Here, the distribution of temperature and stress field during the interaction between a combined short-pulse laser and a CCD is analyzed. A nanosecond/picosecond combined short-pulse laser system based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) pulse compression technique is designed. The damage threshold (DT) and properties of CCD by combined laser irradiation are characterized. The results show that the complete DT of combined laser induced CCD breakdown is only 103 mJ/cm2, which is only 44% of that of picosecond laser. The main cause of combined short-pulse laser induced CCD breakdown is short circuit (SC) between silicon substrate and silicon electrode.

Background: Updated epidemiological data of neuroendocrine tumors are currently lacking. Thus, we performed epidemiological and survival analyses on a large cohort of patients with neuroendocrine tumors and developed a new nomogram to predict survival. Methods: This population-based study examined 112,256 patients with neuroendocrine tumors between 2000 and 2018 using data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program. Results: The age-adjusted incidence per 100,000 persons of neuroendocrine tumors increased from 4.90 in 2000 to 8.19 in 2018 (annual percentage change, 3.40; 95% confidence interval, 3.13–3.67), with the most significant increases in grade 1, localized stage, and appendix neuroendocrine tumors. The age-adjusted mortality rate increased 3.1-fold from 2000 to 2018 (annual percentage change, 4.14; 95% confidence interval, 3.14–5.15). The 1-, 5-, and 10-year relative survival rates for all neuroendocrine tumors were 80.5%, 68.4%, and 63.5%, respectively. Multivariate analyses showed that male sex; older age; Black, American Indian, and Alaska Native populations; earlier year of diagnosis; lung neuroendocrine tumors; higher grades; and later stage were associated with a worse prognosis and that disease stage and grade were the most important risk factors for prognosis. Furthermore, we established a nomogram to predict the 3-, 5-, and 10-year survival rates, and its discrimination ability was better than that of the TNM classification. Conclusions: The incidence, prevalence, and mortality rate of neuroendocrine tumors continued to increase over the last two decades. Additionally, the nomogram could accurately quantify the risk of death in patients with neuroendocrine tumors and had good clinical practicability.

Abstract Background African swine fever virus (ASFV) is one of the most fatal swine etiological agents and has a huge economic impact on the global pork industry. Given that no effective vaccines or anti-ASFV drugs are available, there remains a pressing need for novel anti-ASFV drugs. This study aimed to investigate the anti-African swine fever virus (ASFV) activity of brequinar, a DHODH inhibitor. Methods The anti-ASFV activity of brequinar was investigated using IFA, HAD, HAD50, qRT-PCR, and western blotting assays. The western blotting assay was used to investigate whether brequinar inhibits ASFV replication by killing ASFV particles directly or by acting on cell factors. The confocal microscopy and western blotting assays were used to investigate whether brequinar inhibits ASFV replication by activating ferroptosis. Results In this study, brequinar was found to effectively inhibit ASFV replication ex vivo in porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs) in a dose-dependent manner. In kinetic studies, brequinar was found to maintain ASFV inhibition from 24 to 72 hpi. Mechanistically, the time-of-addition assay showed that brequinar exerted anti-ASFV activity in all treatment modes, including pre-, co-, and post-treatment rather than directly killing ASFV particles. Notably, FerroOrange, Mito-FerroGreen, and Liperfluo staining experiments showed that brequinar increased the accumulation of intracellular iron, mitochondrial iron, and lipid peroxides, respectively. Furthermore, we also found that ferroptosis agonist cisplatin treatment inhibited ASFV replication in a dose-dependent manner and the inhibitory effect of brequinar on ASFV was partially reversed by the ferroptosis inhibitor ferrostatin-1, suggesting that brequinar activates ferroptosis to inhibit ASFV replication. Interestingly, exogenous uridine supplementation attenuated the anti-ASFV activity of brequinar, indicating that brequinar inhibits ASFV replication by inhibiting DHODH activity and the depletion of intracellular pyrimidine pools; however, the induction of ferroptosis by brequinar treatment was not reversed by exogenous uridine supplementation, suggesting that brequinar activation of ferroptosis is not related to the metabolic function of pyrimidines. Conclusions Our data confirm that brequinar displays potent antiviral activity against ASFV in vitro and reveal the mechanism by which brequinar inhibits ASFV replication by activating ferroptosis, independent of inhibiting pyrimidine synthesis, providing novel targets for the development of anti-ASFV drugs.

Abstract Background The oncology-related indices between open and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) procedures for thymic carcinomas (TCs) and thymic neuroendocrine tumors (TNETs) remain unclear. Methods Propensity score matching (PSM) and multivariate Cox proportional risk models were used to evaluate the perioperative outcomes and survival rates of patients undergoing open and VATS for TCs and TNETs at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University Hospital, between 2009 and 2018. Results Of the total 126 cases of TCs and TNETs, VATS treatment was used in 39 (30.9%). Advanced age and Masaoka-Koga staging were found to be independent prognostic factors for both TCs and TNETs, through a multifactorial Cox regression analysis. There was no significant difference in survival between the VATS and open groups before and after PSM; however, the VATS group had better perioperative-related indicators. There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of mortality at 30 days, mortality at 90 days, R0 resection rate, and 5-year survival rate (67.5% vs. 58.5% [P = 0.260] in the VATS group compared to the open group, in a PSM analysis of the 27 VATS and 27 open groups). Abstract The gapped Dirac-like surface states of compensated magnetic topological insulator MnBi2-xSbxTe4 (MBST) are a promising host for exotic quantum phenomena such as the quantum anomalous Hall effect and axion insulating state. However, it has become clear that atomic defects undermine the stabilization of such quantum phases as they lead to spatial variations in the surface state gap and doping levels. The large number of possible defect configurations in MBST make studying the influence of individual defects virtually impossible. Here, we present a statistical analysis of the nanoscale effect of defects in MBST with x=0.64, by scanning tunnelling microscopy/spectroscopy. We identify (Bi,Sb)Mn anti-site defects to be the main source of the observed doping fluctuations, leading towards the formation of nanoscale charge puddles and effectively closing the transport gap. Our findings will guide further optimization of this material system via defect engineering, to enable exploitation of its promising properties.

The response of a DPbS3200 infrared detector irradiated by a nanosecond pulsed laser and CW laser has been investigated to study laser-induced interference. A laser interference experiment system was constructed to measure the time-varying response signal. A nanosecond pulsed laser and a CW laser of 10 Hz were used, with a 1064 nm wavelength and a millimeter-scale irradiation spot diameter. Firstly, the characteristics of transient interference signals induced by pulsed lasers were analyzed. Then, the characteristics of response signal interference by both CW laser and pulsed laser irradiation were further investigated. The results showed that the pulsed laser only produced transient interference. However, the CW laser led to a significant amplitude reduction of the response signal, which could continuously interfere in the operating time. For transient interferences, the amplitude of the interference signal increased linearly with the laser fluence. The relation between the pulse repetition rate of the incident laser and the operating frequency of the detector determined the numbers of transient interference signals in one response period; for the interference induced by both the CW laser and pulsed laser, CW laser interference played a leading role when CW laser power density increased to 4.1 W/cm2 or more. As the CW laser fluence reached 6.1 W/cm2, the PbS infrared detector was no longer able to detect any signal, which caused temporary blindness. In the end, a probit model was used to determine the interference threshold.

To study the physical property effects of the laser on GaInP/GaAs/Ge solar cells and their sub-cell layers, a pulsed laser with a wavelength of 532 nm was used to irradiate the solar cells under various energy conditions. The working performance of the cell was measured with a source meter. The electroluminescence (EL) characteristics were assessed using an ordinary and an infrared camera. Based on the detailed balance theory, in the voltage characteristics of an ideal pristine cell, the GaInP layer made the most significant voltage contribution, followed by the GaAs layer, with the Ge layer contributing the least. When a bias voltage was applied to the pristine cell, the top GaInP cell emitted red light at 670 nm, the middle GaAs cell emitted near-infrared light at 926 nm, and the bottom Ge cell emitted infrared light at 1852 nm. In the experiment, the 532 nm laser wavelength within the response spectrum bands of the GaInP layer and the laser passed through the glass cover slip and directly interacted with the GaInP layer. The experimental results indicated that the GaInP layer first exhibited different degrees of damage under laser irradiation, and the cell voltage was substantially attenuated. The GaInP/GaAs/Ge solar cell showed a decrease in electrical and light emission characteristics. As the laser energy increased, the cell’s damage intensified, gradually leading to a loss of photoelectric conversion capability, the near-complete disappearance of red light emission, and a gradual degradation of near-infrared emission properties. The EL imaging revealed varying damage states across the triple-junction gallium arsenide solar cell’s sub-cells.

Amid rapid urbanization, shantytown redevelopment profoundly transforms urban environments and catalyzes substantial changes in social, economic, and family structures. Yet, most previous studies have focused narrowly on the outcomes of single residential mobility events, overlooking the complex dynamics that unfold across the pre-redevelopment, during-redevelopment, and post-redevelopment phases. This study investigates changes in family structure and their correlation with living space throughout all three phases of shantytown redevelopment in Heze City, Shandong Province, China, from 2016 to 2023. Collecting data through a community survey, we gathered 1035 valid responses to analyze family structure and residential characteristics. Our analysis, which included Sankey diagrams and cross-lagged panel models (CLPM), revealed a predominant trend of large families fragmenting into smaller nuclear units and demonstrated a significant positive correlation between family structure complexity (FSC) and living space. Notably, the FSC from a previous phase had a significant influence on the living space of the following phase, indicating lagged effects where housing choices are influenced by prior family structure. Further comparisons across different housing types and tenures during the temporary phase highlighted diverse structural changes among families. These insights are crucial for policymakers to refine urban redevelopment strategies, better meet residents’ needs, and enhance the efficacy of policies.

Layered two-dimensional ferromagnetic materials have emerged as a promising platform for spintronic applications, owing to their extraordinary physical properties. Remarkably, the representative two-dimensional ferromagnet Fe3GeTe2 has been extensively investigated due to its high Curie temperature and strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, which are beneficial for high-density storage at room temperature. However, there are few reports on its stability in the air and the surface oxidation products, which may prohibit its future application. Here, we report the natural oxidation process of Fe3GeTe2 films grown by molecular beam epitaxy evolved in the atmosphere, which was studied by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements and transmission electron microscopy. Our research shows that the surface of the Fe3GeTe2 film is oxidized quickly when exposed to air and shows two obviously evolving stages in the whole oxidation process. In the first stage, metallic Ge atoms are almost completely oxidized to form Ge–O bonds in GeO2, while partial metallic Fe and Te atoms are oxidized into Fe2O3 and TeO2, respectively. The second stage of oxidation is dominated by changes in the valence state of the Fe element, where Fe2O3 is reduced to FeCO3 through the participation of carbon adsorbed on the surface with the final oxidation product of FeCO3 · GeO2 · TeO2. Our findings provide insight into the subsequent growth and protection of Fe3GeTe2 thin films, which is of great significance for in-depth study and further application of spintronic devices in two-dimensional limits.

Previous studies have a lack of meta-analytic studies comparing the trait (personality) envy, social comparison envy, and love–envy, and the understanding of the similarities and differences in the neural mechanisms behind them is relatively unclear. A meta-analysis of activation likelihood estimates was conducted using 13 functional magnetic resonance imaging studies. Studies first used single meta-analyses to identify brain activation areas for the three envy types. Further, joint and comparative analyses were followed to assess the common and unique neural activities among the three envy types. A single meta-analysis showed that the critical brain regions activated by trait (personality) envy included the inferior frontal gyrus, cingulate gyrus, middle frontal gyrus, lentiform nucleus and so on. The critical brain regions activated by social comparison envy included the middle frontal gyrus, inferior frontal gyrus, medial frontal gyrus, precuneus and so on. The critical brain regions activated by love–envy included the inferior frontal gyrus, superior frontal gyrus, cingulate gyrus, insula and so on. In terms of the mechanisms that generate the three types of envy, each of them is unique when it comes to the perception of stimuli in a context; in terms of the emotion regulation mechanisms of envy, the three types of envy share very similar neural mechanisms. Both their generation and regulation mechanisms are largely consistent with the cognitive control model of emotion regulation. The results of the joint analysis showed that the brain areas co-activated by trait (personality) envy and social comparison envy were frontal sub-Gyral, inferior parietal lobule, inferior frontal gyrus, precuneus and so on; the brain areas co-activated by trait (personality) envy and love–envy were extra-nuclear lobule, lentiform nucleus, paracentral lobule, cingulate gyrus and so on; the brain regions that are co-activated by social comparison envy and love–envy are anterior cingulate gyrus, insula, supramarginal gyrus, inferior frontal gyrus and so on. The results of the comparative analysis showed no activation clusters in the comparisons of the three types of envy.

Melanoma is one of the most lethal neoplasms of the skin. Despite the revolutionary introduction of immune checkpoint inhibitors, metastatic spread, and recurrence remain critical problems in resistant cases. Melanoma employs a multitude of mechanisms to subvert the immune system and successfully metastasize to distant organs. Concerningly, recent research also shows that tumor cells can disseminate early during melanoma progression and enter dormant states, eventually leading to metastases at a future time. Immune escape and metastasis have previously been viewed as separate phenomena; however, accumulating evidence is breaking down this dichotomy. Recent research into the progressive mechanisms of melanoma provides evidence that dedifferentiation similar to classical epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), genes involved in neural crest stem cell maintenance, and hypoxia/acidosis, are important factors simultaneously involved in immune escape and metastasis. The likeness between EMT and early dissemination, and differences, also become apparent in these contexts. Detailed knowledge of the mechanisms behind “dual drivers” simultaneously promoting metastatically inclined and immunosuppressive environments can yield novel strategies effective in disabling multiple facets of melanoma progression. Furthermore, understanding progression through these drivers may provide insight towards novel treatments capable of preventing recurrence arising from dormant dissemination or improving immunotherapy outcomes.

The development of micro/nanorobots and their application in medical treatment holds the promise of revolutionizing disease diagnosis and treatment. In comparison to conventional diagnostic and treatment methods, micro/nanorobots exhibit immense potential due to their small size and the ability to penetrate deep tissues. However, the transition of this technology from the laboratory to clinical applications presents significant challenges. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the research progress in micro/nanorobotics, encompassing biosensors, diagnostics, targeted drug delivery, and minimally invasive surgery. It also addresses the key issues and challenges facing this technology. The fusion of micro/nanorobots with medical treatments is poised to have a profound impact on the future of medicine.

Abstract African swine fever (ASF), caused by ASF virus (ASFV) infection, poses a huge threat to the pork industry owing to ineffective preventive and control measures. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop strategies, including antiviral drugs targeting ASFV, for preventing ASFV spread. This study aimed to identify novel compounds with anti-ASFV activity. To this end, we screened a small chemical library of 102 compounds, among which the natural flavonoid dihydromyricetin (DHM) exhibited the most potent anti-ASFV activity. DHM treatment inhibited ASFV replication in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Furthermore, it inhibited porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus and swine influenza virus replication, which suggested that DHM exerts broad-spectrum antiviral effects. Mechanistically, DHM treatment inhibited ASFV replication in various ways in the time-to-addition assay, including pre-, co-, and post-treatment. Moreover, DHM treatment reduced the levels of ASFV-induced inflammatory mediators by regulating the TLR4/MyD88/MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway. Meanwhile, DHM treatment reduced the ASFV-induced accumulation of reactive oxygen species, further minimizing pyroptosis by inhibiting the ASFV-induced NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Interestingly, the effects of DHM on ASFV were partly reversed by treatment with polyphyllin VI (a pyroptosis agonist) and RS 09 TFA (a TLR4 agonist), suggesting that DHM inhibits pyroptosis by regulating TLR4 signaling. Furthermore, targeting TLR4 with resatorvid (a specific inhibitor of TLR4) and small interfering RNA against TLR4 impaired ASFV replication. Taken together, these results reveal the anti-ASFV activity of DHM and the underlying mechanism of action, providing a potential compound for developing antiviral drugs targeting ASFV.

To study the interference effect of the laser in motion mode on a CCD, the continuous laser with the wavelength of 532 nm at different motion speeds was used to scan the CCD. The experimental results show that the crosstalk phenomenon produced by static and dynamic irradiation is significantly different. When the continuous laser statically radiates the CCD, the vertical crosstalk line is observed in the output image. The gray values of the crosstalk line are divided into two stages, with the increase of the laser fluence: linear increase and saturation, which correspond to different formation mechanisms of the crosstalk lines, respectively. In addition, when the irradiation duration of the static laser is less than the integration time of CCD, the effect of delay time on the spatial distribution of the crosstalk line is identified. In addition, when the laser irradiates the CCD at different scanning speeds, crosstalk lines with certain slopes are observed. The slope of the crosstalk line is determined by the scanning speed of the continuous laser and the integration time of the CCD. The results show that the delay time and the irradiation position have important effects on the spatial distribution of the laser spot and crosstalk lines.

The ablation impulse of typical asteroid simulants irradiated by a nanosecond pulsed laser has been investigated in a vacuum environment. A torsional pendulum measurement system was constructed to calculate the impulse of laser ablation. A 10 ns pulsed laser was used, with a 1064 nm wavelength, a 900 mJ maximum pulse energy, and a millimeter-scale ablation spot diameter. Impulsive coupling characteristics of six typical targets that imitate the substance of asteroids with various laser fluences were analyzed. Furthermore, the impulse coupling coefficient curves of different materials were fitted. The results reveal that the minimum laser fluence corresponding to a measurable ablation impulse is approximately 2.5 J/cm2, and the optimum laser fluence corresponding to the maximum impulse coupling coefficient is approximately 14.0 J/cm2. The trends of the laser ablation impulse coupling curves are roughly consistent for the six materials. Impulse coupling characteristics of the six typical materials can be represented by the same polynomial within a 95% confidence interval, so a unified rule has been given. In actual deflection tasks of asteroids, the unified impulse coupling characteristic can be used to implement laser deflection techniques, especially when the material of the asteroid cannot be accurately judged in time.
